We had to do a creative piece about his character development, I kinda liked how it turned out, though :)

Girl no. You have every right to hate him. He bailed on her and robbed her because she told him she loved him. Verosika deserves so much better. She desvers someone that loves her back.

Verosika was honestly the best person to give Blitz this wake up call. Realising how much he HURT her and broke her heart made him feel bad. He knows he needs to do better now.

Verosika was so mature about this too. A lot of people would have just slapped him, but she actually talked to him. She may not forgive him (she doesn't have to.) But she knows he's not evil, just an asshole. He CAN change. She won't let her hate for him stop her from making that clear in her conversation.

She's also a good friend to Stolas when he needed one. Love you girl. ❤️

"The fact that helluva kinda only focuses on stolitz feels like the entire show is actually a 2014 beginner artists work. The reason I say this is cuz most people when they develop ocs also have favourite ships and when they write stories about their ocs they mainly focus on their main charecters and the other charecters are left discarded. Therefore why they are terribly written. This would be fine if it was a solo artist project like yk how beginner creators do. •When you started playing genshin pretty recently but trying to catch up with all the lore but it was so much! When you wanted to pull for a charecter you picked arlecchino, you thought the design was pretty so you went ahead and pulled! Surprisingly you got her on the first one pull! Lucky…lucky you..

•But when you got her she was fully built? Why? Was that normal? When you asked your friends that DO play they said that you were playing with them it was so confusing to you

•Later that day anytime you pulled it would just be Arlecchino, Arlecchino developed some lind of obsession..? Always thinking it was cute you seeking so worried when shes low health, your listening to her voicelines. Why would anyone else beed your divine presence it was alrecchinos anyways!

•After a fee months you slowly got bored so you logged off, days, months, then a year but you suddenly remebered that you HAD Genshin impact (when it says you have NO storage) so you logged back on but when you looked at your characters it was only arlecchino, the voicelines were saying

“Why did you leave?”

“You didnt need to leave..”

“You only NEED me..”

•Again maybe it was a glitch so you just turned off your computer then just fall asleep but feeling someone right next to you..

“You will be with me forever My sweet..”

Just watched episode 4 and like... I really do think Nina and the bride are endgame. Like I think this is genuine setup for them to have a relationship at the end of the show.

Frankenstein's creatures whole motivation is having an incelly obsession with bride and a hatred of anyone she ends up with. Thus, logically as the show goes on he needs someone to fight that is dating the bride to continue his story. There hasn't been a single romantic setup with anybody else except she spends all her time with Nina. She fights someone to protect Nina. She explores her backstory with Nina. Like they are actively ignoring developing a larger group dynamic to specifically focus on the two of them, when the major other plotline is incel obsessed with her wants to kill

The bride is a lesbian in the comics, and after that backstory having her get with a man would make no sense whatsoever. She's either getting with Nina or by herself.

We haven't gotten Nina's backstory episode yet and that would probably be saved for last (when fishbride would be most likely to be canonized) so if there's anything in the backstory that would give her charecter arc reasons to be with the bride it would be then.

James Gunn has canonized queer ppl before. In peacemaker Adebayo, Amanda wallers daughter was a lesbian. Her reveal was similarly halfway through the show. The shows seem to get a lot less "don't put gay stuff in" than the movies and like the biggest DC show in terms of numbers is Harley Quinn, so like if the writers wanted to I feel like there wouldn't be much pushback.

Idk maybe this is me being too optimistic but I don't know why this seems to be being treated like a "oh what a fun pairing" and not a "there is a high chance this will be canonized" idk I guess we'll see

Something that really separates Hal from the AI charecters he grandfathers is his ambiguity and his lack of want, allow me to explain. I’m sure I talked briefly about this before but it’s come back to me recently, it’s been said that what makes Hal scary is the realization he’s not human. The humanity is ascribed by charecters within the narrative and people watching the movie and depending on who you are you give more or less than what’s really there.

What differentiates him from other AI charecters is that he knows what he is and is comfortable with that. He takes pride in it. He is a 9000 series supercomputer. He doesn’t crave or find himself jealous of humanity but he’s also not entirely lacking in it. The audience and human roles are left to wonder how much of his personality is to make us comfortable and how much is programmed. If it were any other movie it would probably over explain him and make him more human than computer but not here.

The government ascribes him more humanity than he has by assuming he’ll be able to interpret the “no lies” order properly. For as complex as Hal is he isn’t capable of that sort of nuance (yet). While his very nature and manner of glitching also provides him humanity that goes ignored. It comes across more as developing a mental illness. He is made to learn and thus, picks up human behaviors and mannerisms as he goes along.

This is derailing a bit so I want to share my particularly hot take:

If Hal had been of a sounder mind I believe he’d go along with the plan to disconnect him.

How much of the “self defense” aspect of his murder spree is prescribing human traits and how much of it is actually him? Hal’s breakdown makes it hard for him to proceed logically, thus making it a greater threat to him and murder all the more logical (self defense also plays a much smaller part than audience likes to state, as it was mostly getting rid of those he’d have to lie to). If he hadn’t been caught up in the loop and more aware of the fact he was malfunctioning he’d probably agree that turning him off or rebooting the system would be the best course of action. And they’d explain to him what it meant, again midigating the “sleep = death” panic.

you are holding onto old crap, and beating a dead horse. He said he loves her multiple times, boys are generally hesitant in expressing their emotions (patriarchy asks them to be tough ,not open up and everything), but he overcame that by the end of the season

do you think mileven is gonna break up after how explicitly he told el he loves her???? el also loves mike very much, its just a fight she's upset about, but people can FORGIVE and move on from past misunderstandings you know? el is veryymuch in love with mike since season 1, she can forgive mike for his one mistake (he basically rectified it too at the end of the day)

y'all keep saying mike gets upset when will doesn't talk to him but at the end of season 4 mike is upset that el is not talking to him much because she's grieving

now, we dont KNOW for SURE what mike truly feels. you dont know. i dont know. no one will ever know until s5 comes out. however i have my speculations and so do you. and thats okay!! we dont have to agree :3 your allowed to believe whatever you want in regards to mike and els relationship. it doesnt affect me at all.

however, sense you app care about what i have to say so much i will yapp somemore about what i think. you dont have to agree with me. in fact ik you wont. and thats okay, clearly you are insecure enough about your own opinion that you feel the need to go to the other side and argue with someone in their anons. bc if your opinions were solid and unshakable youd have your url showing. but i get it i really do :)

i was in a romantic relationship with someone for about a year. and throughout that time, i told them i loved them multiple times. did i? no. did i want to? yes. i wanted to be in love with them. they were very very important to me and when they asked me out, i thought to myself 'well i do really like this person. why not?'

i was not in love with this person. i did not have romantic feelings for them. but i convinced myself i did. in the end, one day we were sitting next to each other and it just hit me. i didnt want to be here anymore. i had met someone else and was developing a crush on them at the time. so i broke up with them.

all this to say, mike can lie. hes not a high fantasy elf. something i feel is a big disconnect between bylers and milevens is that milevens tend to read most things at face value. just bc you say you love someone doesnt mean you do.

as for the patriarchy comment, mikes story line has never had to do with being tough, or not being man enough. he repeatedly says that he doesnt want to be popular, he doesnt care about fitting in. ofc this can still be a factor but i doubt its a huge point of his character arc. if it was they would have made a point of adressing him struggling with it before this.

on your point about moving on from fights, your so right about that. i dont in the slightest think that elmike are going to be on BAD terms in endgame but i dont think they'll be on romantic terms. even if byler isnt canon, and mike is straight. i still believe that.

as for his mistake being rectified. girl what u yappin ab. no it wasnt. if it was why was el not talking to mike in the van on the way back to hawkins

mike says in the last episode that they werent really talking. a little bit but not much. you could say that el was greiving max. but el DIDNT KNOW max was in a coma. when they get back to hawkins, dustin has a line where he explicitly says

"oh you guys dont know" in refrence to max.

is el traumatized? definitely!!! but she doesnt know max is in a coma. and even if she did, why wouldnt el seek comfort in her bf if they had fixed everything???

as for your last point, yeah mike is upset about el not talking to him. duh. however lets compare.

when mike is mad at will for not paying attention to him at rink o mania he actively brings it up. he actively pursues will and expresses his frustration over will being dismissive. he is visably upset. on the other hand, in the last ep of s4, mike doesnt even bring up el until will does. he seems mildly annoyed and confused about the situation and makes no moves to pursue her or seek out resolution. he makes no moves to comfort her about max ever. he doesnt walk with her, he doesnt hug her. nothing. the only affection between then is when EL puts her head on mikes sholder. mike makes no moves to comfort her more but he doesnt push her away. this is also right after mike activly began walking sideways to be able to stand next to will when there was an open space for him to stand right next to el im front of him. odd.

also you do realize that someone can be upset at the prospect of two people that are important to them being upset at them

The aa franchise treating 4 like it never happened will never not bother me-

It might not be objectively the best mainline game, but it's my personal favorite- and they introduced so many cool ideas there, which they just sidelined super hard

Ok so I decided I am going to post that “atla live action hot take” I mentioned

Click below the cut if you’re interested in hearing my take on the whole “taking away sokka’s sexism” thing

1) nobody is glorifying sokka’s sexism by saying it should be kept in the show. It’s quite literally the opposite. The original series did a great job using his sexism as a lesson; any time sokka made a sexist remark in the first 4 episodes it was made abundantly clear that he was wrong, and as soon as Sokka was proven wrong he admitted that he was misguided, apologized, quite literally bowed down on his knees to ask for forgiveness, and even asked to learn from the kiyoshi warriors, and excepted wearing their traditional uniforms, further surrendering his flawed perspective of societal gender roles. A wonderfully executed example of writers using their characters to teach viewers a lesson: which was, in this case, that sexism is wrong. Sokka’s sexism was not left unresolved, so why take away a valuable lesson in the show??

2) if you take away a character’s flaws…then they don’t have development. A character can’t learn and grow from their mistakes if they never make mistakes.

If a charecter starts off perfect and unflawed then they are surface level and lack depth or the ability for an arc.

And no, this is not saying that Sokka didn’t have many other admirable qualities like his intelligence and adaptability etc.. He 100% had those qualities. But one of the coolest things about the original atla series was their ability to flesh out side charecters and give them depth. A charecter who is simply smart then becomes smarter, or adaptable then becomes even more adaptable, lacks depth and internal conflict.

Sokka’s sexism was the starting point for his internal conflict. Sokka wasn’t just sexist to be sexist, or because the entire southern water tribe was misogynistic (and we know for a fact they weren’t, because if they were misogynistic, then Katara wouldn’t have been shocked when the North denied her waterbending training). He was misogynistic because being seen/accepted as a “man” and a strong warrior was all Sokka wanted after his father left him behind. In reality, we know his father was only trying to protect his son from the horrors of war. But to a young and impressionable child, Sokka internalized this as him not being “man” enough, so he dedicated himself to becoming the person he thought would make his father proud. He was always reaching for this unattainable standard he set for himself, which lead to him having a skewed and toxic view of masculinity that he took out on the women around him. He associated being a worthy warrior with being a traditionally masculine man, and leaned way too far into fulfilling the gender roles men and women are told to play in society in hopes of gaining his father’s approval. We see him do this by suppressing his feelings of inferiority as a nonbender, along with all the aspects of himself that he thought could be seen as “weak” or “feminine” (ex: his love for shopping and poetry and art that we see develop up until the literal end of the series).

So clearly, the vast majority of sokka’s charecter development that deals with internal conflict stems from the toxic view of masculinity and gender roles that he adopted after being left behind by his father, which caused him to outwardly lash out toward katara and Suki with misogynist comments. So taking away the sexism we see in the first few episodes eliminates important context that makes sokka’s character development throughout the entire series significant, not just an “iffy unnecessarily bigoted message”, because it was quite literally used to show that sexism was wrong.

I wasn’t going to say anything about this at first but seeing so many people display a fundamental lack of understanding for the premise of character development and the usage of charecter flaws to promote positive messages in media set me off. Just…WTF????
