"I hate that I still love Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss. Not in the sense that I like the shows, but that I love the characters and what their potentials could have been. Imagine if Angel Dust looked like an actual spider! Imagine if Alastor remained an antagonist, but more like an anti-villain in disguise! Imagine we got Charlie wanting to become an angel only to slowly realize she aligns more with exorcists and what she is doing could possibly kill a sinner with too much kindness! So many thoughts and ideas and they are ruined by someone who cannot write. I hate this so much. I wish these characters were given better love and care. And if we, critics, decide to try and write our own stories with them, we are told to make OCs instead of changing up "canon." What even is canon?"

You could probably just show the staff a screenshot of Stella and it'll scare them lol

as an ex hazbin artist something I noticed when drawing Stella was that every time someone would come to insult her before saying your art was good and that really felt like a punch in the face every time. I hated it…

it was like “I hate that dumb bitch but nice art” or “I want to hang her but I love your style!!” Like that isn’t a fucking compliment. Fuck OFF!!!!

I barely see this in the Valentino art space, you could literally draw Val being “redeemed” and people would suck your toes for it. Draw Stella once and feel like the whole world is giving you underhanded compliments.

That's what happens when you have a misogynistic, hivemind cult of a fandom.

Do anything that deviates from Viv's view and they'll relentlessly dogpile on you, but if you draw any of the two rapists (Stolas and Valentino) in any situation, and I mean, IN ANY, NO MATTER HOW UNHINGED AND HORRIFYING IT IS IN RETROSPECTIVE, just like you said, they'll grovel to your feet without question.

And Anon, I'm so sorry you had to face all that, and that's not only coming from the perspective of an emotional person, but also as an artist, I wouldn't stay in a fandom that wouldn't appreciate my art without underhanded compliments, I hope you already managed to distance yourself from that horrible fandom and never look back, because that cult won't miss you, they're way too busy sucking Viv's toes to even give a damn.

Hope you've already found an audience that actually appreciates your art without any of all that bullshit, do not let some braindead morons on the internet kill your passion.

"I’ve tried to give these shows a chance. I really did. The pilot episodes were good starts! It’s just too bad Vivziepop is allergic to keeping a premise on track. Especially with Helluva Boss. The initial premise sounded so fun but they had to take the worst turn with the show, and make it a brainless, tasteless soap opera with a couple more toxic than Elephant’s Foot. Hazbin Hotel is just mid to me, but Helluva Boss? It’s just garbage now. And the worst part is that it didn’t have to be."

fr tho Ozzie is like...seriously overprotective of Fizz? once again it seems like the show is setting up a storyline of Fizz resenting feeling like he's Ozzie's 'purse dog' - a kept person that Ozzie provides everything for, squashing Fizz's independence

Ozzie even tells Fizz he doesn't need to leave the studio anymore but the show just shows Fizz looking briefly sad about it and that's it

if I still had faith in the show I'd assume it was intentional and Fizz caping for royals so hard was him projecting his own insecurities, but the show has done so little with it we can only assume the writers were using him to voice their opinion that 'criticizing royalty and unjust power structures makes you as bad as them' nonsense

I think you're right, unfortunately. With this show's track record, Ozzie being overprotective of Fizz to the point of being a slightly controlling is meant to be a non-issue. Ozzie is meant to be the objectively perfect boyfriend, Fizz's knowing look when Blitz talks about how badly Stolas makes him feel a sign that Blitz and Stolas are meant to be together.

And of course, that's all without touching on the tremendous loss of the relationship a lot of us fell in love with between Ozzie's and Oops. Once upon a time, that sugar baby purse dog and Ozzie were sassy assholes whose relationship was as mutual as their performance on stage. They were each other's scaffolding, and that was a beautiful thing to see and a terrible thing to lose.
