What is an oil gland? How does the sebaceous gland (lipoma) pass? 2023

What is an oil gland? How does the sebaceous gland (lipoma) pass? 2023
Sebaceous glands , medical term lipomaThey are fat-filled and usually small, tumor-like formations that occur in any part of the body. The sebaceous glands, which can be of various sizes, are surrounded by a capsule and are visible in white-yellow colors. While fat formation can be observed at any age in adulthood, the incidence of this problem in children is quite low.
Sebaceous glands located in visible parts of the body are generally undesirable because they disturb the individual visually. Methods such as squeezing these glands at home and emptying them with a needle both pose a risk of infection and cause scarring in the area where the oil gland is located. For this reason, the procedures to be performed for the removal of the oil glands must be carried out by the physician in a health institution using appropriate equipment.
What is an oil gland?
The encapsulation of the fat deposits in the body by settling under the skin results in the formation of sebaceous glands, also called lipomas. These glands, which can also be described as a simple form of tumor, are generally benign and do not cause any health problems, except for disturbing people in terms of appearance.
While sebaceous glands can be seen in all parts of the body, it most commonly occurs on the face, shoulders, scalp, genital area, neck and back. Many have a soft texture and feel as if they are moving when pressed by hand. This is because they are not fully integrated with the skin. Although sebaceous glands are a problem that can be seen in people of all ages, it is rarely seen in children.
They usually do not cause pain. Pain in these types of glands, It is usually a condition that indicates that the sebaceous gland requires medical attention. Fat cells, which grow and multiply over time, like all cells, can in some cases cause the size of the sebaceous glands to get out of control and to overgrow. In these cases, it is necessary to remove the growing oil glands with the help of surgical operations.
What are the symptoms of sebaceous glands?
The first and most characteristic symptom of sebaceous glands is swelling in the tissue where the gland develops. This swelling can grow slowly and continuously. While the oil glands in the face vary from the size of a pinhead to a few millimeters, the swellings that occur in areas such as the back and neck are larger and deeper.
Again, in the formation of under-eye oil glands on the face and oil gland formation on the eyelid, it is possible that the oil mass inside can be easily seen due to the fact that the gland is white-yellow in color and the skin covering it is very thin. In deep sebaceous glands formed in other parts of the body, since the gland is located in the lower layers of the skin, only swelling is felt, the fat layer cannot be seen from the outside.
They usually do not cause pain. But if the meringue is hit, In case of infection or malignancy, the sebaceous glands may cause pain or discharge over time. Especially in cases of rapid growth, color change, redness and severe pain, lipomas should be removed with the help of surgical procedures and sent for pathological examination.
What causes oil glands?
The exact cause of the formation of oil glands is not known. However, there are some issues that are known to increase the probability of occurrence. Some of the factors that predispose to the formation of sebaceous glands are as follows:
Genetic predisposition
Impact of the skin
High cholesterol and triglyceride levels
metabolic diseases
Unhealthy eating
advanced age
Insulin resistance and diabetes
Liver diseases
Obesity
What are the types of oil glands?
Oil glands are examined under 3 different groups according to their structures. These are as follows:
Sebaceous cysts:  Sebaceous cysts , which are commonly seen on the scalp, are not completely glandular, but consist of a fluid fat mass and a very thin layer of skin covering it.
Benign adipose tissue tumors: Adipose tissue tumors  , which have a glandular structure commonly seen in the neck and back regions, are generally benign and fall into this group. The fat mass in it is light yellow in color and has a hard structure. Just like other types of cysts, they can reach large sizes and therefore need to be surgically removed.
Malignant adipose tissue tumors:  Masses formed as a result of cancerization of the subcutaneous fatty tissue are called malignant adipose tissue tumors. The fluid in these tumors, also called liposarcoma, has a yellow to grayish color. This rare type of sebaceous gland is softer and must be removed with the help of surgical operations.
Apart from the above grouping, the under-eye oil glands are also divided into three. These are examined under 3 subheadings: thin layers of fat called xanthelasma, which occur due to high cholesterol, small round fat cysts called syringoma, and miliums that are smaller than syringoma and have a fainter appearance.
How is the diagnosis of sebaceous gland made?
Visible sebaceous glands can only be detected by physicians by physical examination. Sebaceous cysts usually have a round structure, a spot in the middle and a slightly reddened appearance. In many types of sebaceous glands, the fat mass under the skin is displaced when pressed by hand. A fixed swelling that does not move easily may indicate a different disease.
Although it may vary according to the region where it occurs, lipomas generally have a soft structure and may change shape when pressed during manual examination. In the diagnosis of larger and hard sebaceous glands, the diagnosis can be supported by ultrasonographic imaging in order not to be confused with different diseases with similar appearance.
How is the oil gland treatment done?
Almost 99% of the sebaceous glands are benign and do not tend to become cancerous. However, especially the oil glands in visible parts of the body such as the face and neck do not look aesthetically pleasing and cause discomfort in patients. In addition, although adipose tissue tumors in the back region do not pose any risk to health, they can cause pain due to pressure in situations such as leaning back and using a backpack.
Infection may develop as a result of blows in some oil glands or spontaneously, and accordingly symptoms such as pain, redness, discharge and fever may occur. In all these cases, the glands should be removed with the help of a simple surgical operation, also known as oil gland removal.
This operation is performed under local anesthesia. usually completed in less than half an hour. It does not require hospitalization, patients can be discharged on the same day and return to their daily lives the next day.
In cases where the sebaceous glands do not cause any discomfort to the individual in terms of aesthetic appearance or health, they may not need to be removed. However, it should be kept in mind that these masses may be malignant, albeit very rarely. For this reason, in some cases, a biopsy can be taken for masses that are suspected to be cancerous or that tend to grow rapidly.
By performing a pathological examination of this sample, it can be determined whether the mass is benign or malignant, and the next treatment process can be planned according to this result. If you have sebaceous glands in any part of your body and are wondering how the sebaceous glands go away, you can go through a doctor’s control by applying to a health institution and get rid of the sebaceous glands that bother you.

More Winged NRC Students
Imagine if having wings also gave them bird instincts, like chirping and making a nest. No one bats an eye because they all have wings, though Grim gets confused at first and Vil doesn't like Epel chirping so frequently.
So all of the kids like to perch up in high places and the aquatic birds have a fondness for water. Some of them, like Ace because he'd find it funny, also perch on people because he finds it funny to see their reactions to having him suddenly land on them.
Additionally, they all have hollow bones to make them lighter so that flying is easier for them. So Ruggie and Leona have to be extra careful during their sabotage plot to make sure that they don't injure anyone too badly because having hollow bones makes them more fragile.
Moving away from that, I can see people wanting to claim others as flock and stealing some of their clothes for their nests, which is kind of frustrating because you have to negotiate for the clothes back but don't want to make the other think that you don't want to be part of their flock.
The first-years wear each other's feathers (Ortho had to make synthetic feathers to complete the collection because he doesn't have actual physical wings) on a necklace with a little hole in the feathers' stalk (what's that long stick through the center of a feather called?) as a symbol of being a flock and play with the feathers as a nervous tick.
Another thing that they have to do is preen their wings whenever they get dirty or have to remove some of the dead feathers. They only let people that they trust preen their wings and keep the best feathers for when they add people to their flock. The first-years sometimes form a 'preening line' with Ortho at the beginning since he doesn't have actual wings, where they preen each others' wings and get their wings preened at the same time.
Most birds have a gland at the base of their tails to form oil to coat their wings for waterproofing and protection, and since they don't have tails, they have to make to with handmade oil. There are factories and people who specifically make wing oil to market and Epel's family also makes sunflower oil or something like that for wings. The excess gets sent to him via mail much like the apple juice does and he shares it among the fellow first-years and occasionally his dormmates because better than the wing oil for commercial sale.
Sometimes a group of people stack on top of each other by flying up and landing on each others' shoulders. This happens most often with the first-year group though the Pop Music Club + Rook do the same sometimes. Floyd tries to form a stack, but Azul doesn't let him unless there's someone around who can join him and Jade.
Speaking of Floyd, he likes to kidnap people (most of the time, said person is Riddle) to go flying with them. By flying, he means holding them in bridal carry and just taking off because he's strong enough to do that with people who are shorter than him, which is most people. He always gets scolded for it, but keeps doing it to the point where getting kidnapped by Floyd happens to someone every other day.

Hey, could I request a trans (ftm) and Gabriel fic perferrably with a wing kink/preening?
Thank you so much for the request. I think I went through like four iterations until I felt it was what the wonderful user wanted. I feel very honored for the request. I hope it is what you wanted. ❤️💛
Request: Gabriel x ftm Reader, Wing Preening
Tumblr media
Rating: Mature
Word Count: 1,073
Summary: Gabriel flirts his way into getting his husband to assist preening his wings.
A/N: I suck at titles. Hush.
I want to thank @mochatheangelkiller for their help.
Gabriel walked into the bedroom shirtless, in boxer briefs, and with his golden wings folded behind him. “Hey,” he said to Y/N, flirtatiously.
Y/N looked up from his book with a small smile upon seeing Gabe as he was. “Do you need something?” He asks, teasingly.
Gabriel saunters in, raising his wings up and about, a mating display, he knows that Y/N likes to see, especially once the archangel explained them. He finds Gabriel’s wings beautiful and loves to touch the soft feathers when Gabe has them out.
Y/N grins, wondering if Gabe is trying to seduce him or wanting him to help preen him. He knows his archangel boyfriend likes to seduce and tease, sometimes at the same time.
Gabriel crawled onto their four-poster bed towards Y/N. He put his book down on the nightstand waiting to see what the lovely golden-eyed angel does.
Y/N quirks a brow at Gabriel, their smile relaxes watching the angel’s movements.
The messenger of god straddles Y/N's comforter-covered thighs and wraps his hands around his neck.
“Gabriel,” warns Y/N. He crosses his arms, not reciprocating Gabriel’s advances.
The archangel rolls his eyes and crosses his arm. “Ok. Ok. I need help with my wings,” he mumbles sheepishly.
Y/N’s face softens, leans forward, and places a chaste kiss on Gabriel’s lips. “The word is ‘preen’.”
“I’m not calling it that,” the Angel pouted.
Y/N grins, amused. It’s an argument the Y/N uses to tease the Angel since it’s hard to tease The Trickster who claimed to be Loki, Norse God.
“Go on, sit down,” Y/N pats next to them and slides off their side of the bed so Gabriel can spread out one of his wings to allow Y/N to work. He goes over to their laptop on the desk and puts on their usual playlist for preening.
Returning, Y/N begins first with the left wing by straightening and ‘zipping’ feathers before gently removing loose ones. Gabriel shivers at the initial contact and relaxes into his touch. The messenger sighs in contentment. Y/N smiles at the sound and then focuses on the task at hand. The gentle movements and massaging stimulation the oil glands throughout the wing and on Gabriel’s back. Knowing where they are across his boyfriend’s wing, Y/N begins to slowly spread the oil and then skims their hands down Gabriel’s back. He can feel goosebumps rise at their touch along the Angel’s back as they collect more oil. He coats the oil on each feather as the youngest archangel showed them.
It’s so easy to do the task and just relax especially with the instrumental music playlist. The scent of the oil permeates the air: a sweet, clover-like scent, honeysuckle with a hint of tobacco. Y/N takes a deep breath and just loves the scent that embodies the one who has their heart. Their nipples tighten under their T-shirt and feel themselves becoming aroused.
“I love you, Gabriel.” He smiles as he works on the front of the left wing.
“I love you too, hot stuff.”
Y/N chuckles at the angel’s endearment for them.
“You doing okay?” He asks, worried that holding the wing up may be tiresome for the angel.
“I’m good,” Gabriel responds, confidently.
There is a pile of broken and loose feathers next to the man. He takes them and puts them on Gabriel’s nightstand.
“Okay, swap sides.”
Gabriel folds his wing back and moves to sit on the left side to allow Y/N to work on the right wing. Gabriel spreads the wing out, and Y/N gets on the bed and starts again. Straightening and ‘zipping’ the feathers back followed by removing loose feathers, making another pile.
Y/N has always been affected by Gabriel’s scent. His arousal simmering as they work on the other side of the wing. He can see that Gabriel is just as affected as he is if the bulge in his underwear is anything to go by.
“Enjoying yourself?” Y/N teases.
Gabriel looks at them as his eyes remain on the wing. “What do you think?”
Y/N grins, wide, at the returned tease. He slows down about halfway done with the inside of the right wing. He relaxes his face, trying to seem focused on the task and not trying to ignore their arousal. Breathing deep and slowly doesn’t exactly help, it does help them focus. They have a goal in mind with Gabriel’s progressive bulge.
Gabriel presses on his hardness over his boxer briefs.
Y/N reaches over and smacks his hand. “No,” he commands.
Gabriel whines, pursing his lips into a frown.
“Patience, Angel.”
“You know I can't do that.”
Y/N chuckles. “Liar. You waited for me.”
Gabriel smiles and rolls his golden eyes. “True,” he quietly agrees. “You were worth it.”
Y/N smiles, feeling heat rise to their cheeks, as they continue along the ‘arm’ oiling the feathers.
Gabriel shivers through his wings.
Y/N grins, wickedly. He knee-walks and straddles Gabriel.
“He-llo,” Gabriel greets and wraps his arms around Y/N’s waist.
“Hey,” Y/N greets back. He wraps his arms around the angel’s shoulders and grounds down on the angel.
He throws his head back and groans. Y/N leans forward and sucks marks along the angel’s tendon, his neck nipping, laying kitten licks, and soothing them. He slides his hands down Gabriel’s back to the main oil glands and presses on them drawing a gasp from him as he arches his back.
Y/N leans forward, lips against his ear. “You like that, Angel?”
Gabriel is panting and pushes his hips upward, two pieces of cloth separating their bodies. Y/N hums in pleasure, leans back, and takes off his shirt, revealing two silver scars across their chest from their top surgery. The Angel’s hand comes up and traces them like he does every time. He revels in Y/N’s bravery, determination, and resilience. The scars speak so much of Y/N’s past struggles and knows how lucky he is to call him his.
Y/N bites his lower lip, his eyes watching the awe on Gabriel’s face the angel has every single time. He smiles at his angel.
“Gabriel,” he whispers.
The angel looks at him, pupil large with a sliver of golden at the edges. Y/N smiles, ready for so much more.

Do you think that since Rito live in The Cold Region™ they would have a tradition of sauna?
Because if you want to clean yourself and not freeze to death during an actually cold winter you either heat the water, get it preheated from hot sptings, or don't use water at all (sandbaths). Pruning can only take you so far I feel.
And I am not sure which one is better.
Oooh omg I love that - I am stealing this idea. So, obviously with real birds, depending on species they clean themselves different ways. Most birds really do just preen - birds don't sweat, so their skin doesn't usually remain moist or build up bacteria. They have a 'preening oil gland' at the base of their tail (think weird butt nipple that secretes oil - you're welcome.) Typically they coat their beak in this oil, then 'zip and unzip' their feathers by sort of scrubbing them back and forth to remove any dirt/dust/grime from the feathers - it both acts like a soap by lubricating dirt molicules and helps to insulate the feathers from water. Small birds and birds in warm climates will often dunk themselves in shalow bodies of water - although it's theorised the pratise is more about cooling themselves off. However it does provide some level of cleaning especially if feathers have become heavily soiled. However, they typically only coat their outer layer of feathers and shake themselves dry in fast intervals to avoid themselves becoming soaked. (People who own birbs will know these little bastards can't regulate their body tempretures super well so if they get soaked, they can get too cold and keel over). Then there is also sand baths - which is about using small molecules to dislodge grime. Real birds preen...pretty much constantly, and obviously Rito are rather large and have a hell of a lot more feathers than say, a sparrow. So just preening simply wouldn't be fesable unless they spent every waking hour doing it. However you're totally right, in the cold regions there would be no fesable way to submerge themselves in water - even in hot springs, because it would take them hours to dry off and they would succum to the cold, especially if Rito function like real birds and have a hard time regularing body temp. So having a sauna - particularily a dry sauna, would be sort of vital. I like imagining they bathe communally in hotsprings at certain times of the day/week and then spend an hour or two in little saunas to dry off their feathers. Birds also raise their feathers when they get too hot to try to allow heat to escape - so they'd all be sat in there all fluffed up like pompoms and have to preen themselves/oneanother after to smooth them back down and recoat them in oil. What a wonderful mental image.

How to Shrink and Reduce the Appearance of Large Pores
Pores are supported by a collagen-rich structure that keeps them in place. This structure is made up of collagen and glycosaminoglycans in the deeper layers of the skin.
If the support structure weakens due to age or environmental factors, the pores can sag, dilate, and become more visible.
How to Strengthen the Support Structure:
Protect What You Have: The main enemy of collagen is UV radiation from the sun, which breaks down collagen and damages the support structure. Sunscreen (broad-spectrum, SPF 30 or higher) applied regularly can prevent UV damage, maintaining the strength of the support system.
Boost Collagen Production: Use skincare ingredients like retinoids, vitamin C, and niacinamide, which are known to stimulate collagen production. Treatments like microneedling and dermaplaning can also promote collagen production in the skin.
2. Excess Sebum (Oil) Production
Sebaceous glands produce oil that moves through the pores.
When excess oil is produced, it enlarges the bowl-shaped structure at the base of the pore, causing the pore to dilate and become more visible.
How to Control Oil Production:
Use products containing niacinamide, which research shows can regulate sebum production.
Limit sugar intake. High sugar consumption increases insulin levels, which stimulates oil production. Reducing sugar can help keep oil levels in check.
3. Clogged Pores
When pores become clogged with dirt, dead skin cells, excess oil, and makeup, the bowl-like structure of the pore enlarges.
This causes the pore opening to become more noticeable.
How to Unclog Pores:
Remove Makeup Thoroughly: Always remove makeup at the end of the day to prevent clogged pores.
Avoid Comedogenic Ingredients: Be cautious of skincare products containing ingredients that may clog pores (comedogenic ingredients).
Cleanse Regularly: Regular cleansing helps remove dirt and oil from the skin's surface.
Exfoliate with BHA: Use a BHA (beta hydroxy acid) like salicylic acid regularly. Salicylic acid penetrates deep into pores, unclogging them by removing dirt and oil from the inside.
4. Imbalanced Keratinization
Keratinization is the process by which new skin cells are produced and old cells are shed.
When this process slows down, old skin cells remain on the surface, causing pores to appear larger as the skin thickens.
How to Normalize Keratinization:
Exfoliate Regularly: Use chemical exfoliants like AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) or BHAs (beta hydroxy acids), such as glycolic acid, lactic acid, or salicylic acid to remove dead skin cells and promote smoother skin.
Boost Cell Turnover: Retinoids are effective in speeding up cell turnover, ensuring that new skin cells are formed regularly and old cells are removed efficiently.
5. Avoid Squeezing Pores
Physically squeezing or manipulating pores can make them appear larger. While it may be tempting to pop blackheads or squeeze pores, this can actually stretch and distort the pore, making it look worse.
What to Do Instead:
Avoid touching or squeezing your pores. Instead, stick to proper cleansing and exfoliation routines to keep them clear and healthy.
Bonus Tip: Hormonal Fluctuations During Menstruation
During menstruation, increased levels of progesterone can stimulate oil production, leading to clogged pores. This can make the pores appear larger.
How to Manage Hormonal Breakouts:
Cleanse your face regularly during this time, and ensure you're exfoliating with a BHA to prevent clogged pores.
Recap: How to Shrink the Appearance of Large Pores
Strengthen the Support Structure: Protect your skin with sunscreen and boost collagen production with ingredients like retinoids, niacinamide, and vitamin C.
Control Sebum Production: Use niacinamide and reduce sugar intake to prevent excess oil production.
Unclog Pores: Remove makeup, avoid comedogenic ingredients, cleanse regularly, and exfoliate with a BHA like salicylic acid.
Balance Keratinization: Regularly exfoliate and use retinoids to maintain smooth skin and prevent old cells from clogging pores.
Avoid Squeezing Pores: Leave your pores alone and let proper skincare routines do the work.
By addressing these five causes of enlarged pores, you can significantly reduce their appearance and enjoy smoother, clearer skin.

What skincare to use to help acne <3
Tumblr media
First of all, keep in mind that acne is natural. It's nothing we should feel extremely insecure about. Everyone's beautiful in their own way 🙂.
Salicylic acid. Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid. It’s well-known for reducing acne by exfoliating the skin and keeping pores clear. When your pores get plugged with dead skin cells and oil, blackheads, whiteheads or pimples often appear. Salicylic acid penetrates your skin and works to dissolve the dead skin cells clogging your pores. Salicylic acid is consider safe for teens to use as well. If you use this make sure to follow with a very hydrating moisturiser as this acid can leave skin very dry as it removes oil from the skin.
Benzoyl peroxide. Benzoyl peroxide works as an antiseptic to reduce the number of germs and bacteria on the surface of your skin. Like Salicylic acid, it can also lead to dry skin so remember to use a moisturiser afterwards. This is also safe for teens to use.
Niacinamide acid. Niacinamide acid is a form of vitamin B3. Niacinamide is an anti-inflammatory that works to reduce the redness and swelling associated with acne. It also works to regulate the amount of acne-causing oil being produced by the glands in your skin. One cause of acne is to much sebum or oil being produced, so since niacinamide regulates the amount of sebum being produced it helps with acne. This product is also teen safe <3.
Diet. Sometimes your diet can lead to too much sebum production and affect your hormones causing an hormonal imbalance, which can also lead to acne and other skin concerns. Also remember to stay hydrated!
A lot of the time regularly washing your face might be enough. It honestly depends on you age and the amount of acne that you have. If you are considering using any of the product please research them and check with a doctor or dermatologist if you can use them. Remember that if you feel a burning sensation on your face your skin is getting irritated and you should stop using that product.
Lifestyle. How much excerise you do, the amount of stress you have can also impact acne as well.
I hope this helps some of you :D. Bye, and remember to stay postive.

A Dungeon Meshi-inspired ttrpg module
(Built using the Bloom system.)
You are Dungeon Chefs, adventurers who by curiosity or necessity are motivated to prepare meals using ingredients found in the very dungeon you’re traversing. These ingredients could be meat from the monsters you kill, plants you forage for, and even improvised supplies you find in treasure chests. The possibilities are endless.
Creating Your Chef
To start, follow the character creation process in the Bloom system. In short, it entails assigning stats (Agility, Heart, Might, Poise, and Wits) as well as coming up with four Traits (your Main Trait, Weakness, and two Bonus Traits).
Tastes
As a chef, your skill in cooking varies on the type of ingredient. Ingredients are organized under Tastes, which also form your second set of Stats as a chef. Whenever you prepare an ingredient, you must roll the appropriate Taste. As with Stats, each Taste starts at 0, with 8 additional points to assign. The Tastes are the following:
Sweet
Sour
Salty
Savory
Spicy
Specialties
Every chef has a something they’re especially skilled in preparing. You may pick one of the following Specialties for your chef:
Pastry: You gain +1 Sweet and +1 on rolls involving carefully measuring ingredients and handling powdery materials. Your similarly sweet demeanor also gives you +1 on Heart rolls to make friends with strangers.
Vegetable: You gain +1 Sour and +1 on rolls to identify, harvest, and handle plants. Plantlike monsters are scared of you, and thus suffer -1 on rolls to Attack during the first 2 turns.
Meat: You gain +1 Salty and +1 on rolls to cut, portion, and prepare meat as well as Might rolls to use bladed implements, including weapons.
Fry: You gain +1 Savory as well as +1 on Agility rolls to prepare things quickly. You’re used to splattering oil such that attempts to inflict Burned and similar effects on you suffer -1.
Sauce: You gain +1 Spicy and +1 on rolls to mix and handle liquids. Once a session, you can glance at a particular liquid and accurately guess what its major components are.
Creating Ingredients
You can create monsters the same way enemies are made in Bloom. However, aside from this, you will need to think of what ingredients are produced when a monster is defeated. Regular monsters would produce some sort of meat, as well as special ingredients based on their attributes (for example, a clam monster would produce pearls). Plantlike monsters would produce plant ingredients such as roots, stems, leaves, and fruit. Below is a sample monster.
Basilisk
A monster appearing to be a hybrid of a chicken and a snake. Its legendary ancestors were rumored to kill with a single glare, although recent encounters have proved otherwise.
Hit Boxes: 7
Stats
Agility 1 Heart 4 Might 2 Poise 0 Wits 1
Abilities
It can stare down an opponent and roll Heart against their Poise. If successful, they are Paralyzed for the next turn.
Its can produce noxious breath, making anyone who inhales it Nauseous.
During its turn, it can imbue a single object up to the size of a person with the weight and durability of stone.
Ingredients Produced
3 units of chicken meat
1 unit of snake meat
1 unit of spit
2 units of basilisk feathers
Recipes
Both the players and the GM are at liberty to determine what recipes they can prepare and how to cook the ingredients. Easier steps will not require rolls, but the more difficult ones will, based on the appropriate Stats or Tastes. The GM may also raise the difficulty threshold. Leftovers from previous meals can also be used.
Sample Recipe: Basilisk Barbeque
(Wits) Prepare a grill and light the charcoal.
(Savory) Pluck all the feathers off.
(Poise, Difficulty 2) Clean the meat to remove the poison gland.
(Savory) Cut the meat into smaller parts.
(Sweet) Prepare a basting sauce and apply it to the meat.
(Spicy) Season the meat with spices and herbs.
(Savory) Put the basilisk meat on a stick and grill it.
(Agility) Fan the coals to make the flame stronger, making sure it doesn’t get in your eyes.
Once ready, take the basilisk off the grill. Finished!

An Oil-free Hair Care Routine for a Revitalizing Scalp
1. How to Pick the Perfect Hair Wash:
The first step in achieving oil-free hair is to choose a shampoo that is suitable for your hair type and is sulfate-free. For a balanced and revitalized scalp, look for a sulfate-free alternative that cleanses well without removing the natural oils.
2. Methods for Efficiently Cleaning:
If you want to change up your hair care regimen, try washing your hair differently. Instead of using hot water to wash your hair, use lukewarm water. To rinse your hair thoroughly without stripping it of its natural oils, use lukewarm water. This will leave your scalp feeling revitalized.
3. A Ritual for Weekly Clarification:
To maintain a healthy scalp, use a clarifying shampoo once a week. To keep your scalp from getting greasy and your hair clean and refreshed, try this targeted shampoo. It works by removing product buildup.
4. Tips for Equilibrium Conditioning:
To find the sweet spot, apply conditioner to the ends of your hair. This keeps the ends and lengths wet without causing the oil to pool close to the scalp. To prevent your hair from becoming weighed down, use conditioner formulations that are lightweight and oil-free.
5. Establish Good Hair Routines:
Keeping an oil-free and healthy scalp is as easy as incorporating certain good practices into your hair care regimen. If you want to disperse natural oils without irritating the oil glands, use a soft brush. Try to limit your usage of styling products and instead utilize ones that are water-based or oil-free. In addition, for optimal health, a well-rounded diet high in vitamins and omega-3 fatty acids can help your hair.
Conclusion
When you follow these easy instructions, you'll have oil-free hair and a healthy scalp for the long haul. Take into account the specific requirements of your hair when adapting these guidelines for the best results.

Effective Natural Face Masks for Balancing Oil-Prone Skin
Tumblr media
Oily skin can be a common concern for many individuals, often leading to excess shine, clogged pores, and occasional breakouts. Incorporating natural face masks into your skincare routine can help regulate oil production and restore balance to your complexion. Here are some of the best natural face masks specifically designed for oily skin:
1. Bentonite Clay and Apple Cider Vinegar Mask:
Bentonite clay is a powerful absorbent known for its ability to draw out impurities and excess oil from the skin. When combined with raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar, which contains natural acids and enzymes, it creates a potent mask for oily skin. To create this mask, mix equal parts of bentonite clay and apple cider vinegar to form a smooth paste. Apply the mask evenly to your face, avoiding the eye area, and let it dry for approximately 10-15 minutes. Gently rinse off the mask with warm water, and you'll notice a reduction in oiliness and improved skin clarity.
2. Green Tea and Lemon Juice Mask:
Tumblr media
Green tea is rich in antioxidants and possesses anti-inflammatory properties that can help control oil production and calm irritated skin. Lemon juice, on the other hand, acts as a natural astringent to minimize excess oil and tighten pores. To make this mask, brew a cup of green tea and allow it to cool. Mix 2 tablespoons of the cooled green tea with 1 tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Apply the mixture to your face and let it sit for about 10-15 minutes before rinsing off. Regular use of this mask can help rebalance the skin and promote a healthier complexion.
3. Yogurt and Turmeric Mask:
Yogurt contains lactic acid, a gentle exfoliant that helps remove dead skin cells and unclog pores. Turmeric, known for its anti-inflammatory properties, can soothe and calm oily skin. To create this mask, mix 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt with 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder until well combined. Apply the mask to your face, ensuring even coverage, and leave it on for approximately 10-15 minutes before rinsing off. This mask can help control excess oil, reduce blemishes, and leave your skin feeling refreshed.
It's important to note that before applying any mask, it is crucial to cleanse your face thoroughly to remove impurities and prepare your skin for maximum absorption of the mask's beneficial ingredients. Additionally, perform a patch test on a small area of your skin to check for any potential allergies or sensitivities to the ingredients used.
Tumblr media
Incorporating natural face masks into your skincare routine is an effective way to manage oily skin. These masks, formulated with carefully selected natural ingredients, can help regulate oil production, minimize shine, and promote a balanced complexion. However, it's essential to remember that everyone's skin is unique, and individual results may vary. If you have persistent skin concerns or severe oiliness, it's advisable to consult a dermatologist for personalized advice and treatment options.
Embrace the power of nature by integrating these natural face masks into your skincare regimen, and enjoy the benefits of a clearer, healthier, and more balanced complexion.
Oily Skin and Hormonal Contraceptives: Understanding Effects and Making Adjustments
Tumblr media
Are you experiencing changes in your skin since starting hormonal contraceptives? If you've noticed an increase in oiliness and breakouts, you're not alone. Oily skin is a common side effect of hormonal contraceptives for many individuals. In this article, we'll explore the relationship between hormonal contraceptives and oily skin, understand the effects they can have on your skin, and provide practical tips to help you make adjustments for a healthier complexion.
Understanding the Connection:
Hormonal contraceptives, such as birth control pills, patches, or hormonal IUDs, work by altering your hormone levels to prevent pregnancy. These changes in hormone balance can influence the sebaceous glands, which are responsible for producing oil. As a result, the production of sebum (oil) increases, leading to oily skin.
Effects on the Skin:
Oily skin caused by hormonal contraceptives may present several challenges. Excess oil can clog pores, resulting in blackheads, whiteheads, and acne breakouts. Individuals with pre-existing acne may find that their skin worsens, while those who previously had well-balanced skin may suddenly experience an oilier complexion.
Making Adjustments:
If you're dealing with oily skin due to hormonal contraceptives, fret not! There are several adjustments you can make to manage and improve your skin's condition.
Tumblr media
1. Skincare Routine: Establish a consistent skincare routine tailored for oily skin. Use gentle, oil-free cleansers to remove excess oil and dirt without stripping away essential moisture. Incorporate exfoliation once or twice a week to unclog pores and remove dead skin cells.
2. Oil-Free Products: Opt for oil-free or non-comedogenic (non-pore-clogging) moisturizers, sunscreens, and makeup products. Look for labels that explicitly state "oil-free" or "non-comedogenic" to ensure they won't exacerbate oiliness or cause breakouts.
3. Salicylic Acid: Consider incorporating skincare products containing salicylic acid, a beta-hydroxy acid known for its ability to penetrate pores and unclog them. It helps to regulate oil production and reduce the occurrence of breakouts.
4. Blotting Papers: Keep oil-absorbing blotting papers handy throughout the day to gently dab away excess oil without disrupting your makeup. This can help control shine and prevent the buildup of oil on your skin.
5. Healthy Lifestyle Habits: Maintain a balanced diet, drink plenty of water, and get regular exercise. These healthy lifestyle habits can contribute to overall skin health and help manage oiliness.
6. Consult a Dermatologist: If you're struggling to manage oily skin despite making adjustments to your skincare routine, it may be beneficial to seek advice from a dermatologist. They can provide personalized recommendations and treatment options to address your specific concerns.
Conclusion: Experiencing oily skin as a side effect of hormonal contraceptives can be frustrating, but with the right adjustments and skincare routine, you can effectively manage it. Remember that everyone's skin is unique, so it may take some trial and error to find what works best for you. By understanding the effects of hormonal contraceptives on your skin and implementing practical adjustments, you can achieve a healthier, more balanced complexion.

I am so sick of the moralisation of cleanliness.
It's everywhere. You can go in any comment section and see people judge and have no understanding whatsoever for even the smallest amount of clutter or dirt. It's people being judged on having any real or perceived lack of personal hygiene. And including situations where it is known that the person struggles with problems, including severe disability and cancer. Anything that doesn't look like a fucking minimalist furniture catalogue is unacceptable and gross. There can apparently be no problems that could possibly stop you from doing a proper hair wash routine or brushing your teeth or taking a shower.
I just saw a video of someone cleaning their elderly father's oven door which was pretty dirty. And even without actively condemning it, there were, without fail, comments going "But how could someone even let it get to that point?". I don't know, you fucking unempathetic asshole, i would say pretty easily? You need to be able to 1) kneel on the floor, bend over, or sit on a low stool to reach that area 2) be able to scrub something 3) have the mental energy and know how to do the task and 4) consider it enough of a priority in the limited time and energy of your life to do it. These faux concerned comments showing utter incapability to try to understand a life different to theirs make me so mad.
"But how could someone cope with living in such disgusting conditions?" well they probably wouldn't choose it if they could, but again, they wouldn't not keep up with cleaning if cleaning were easy to do. How can people not understand that.
And this includes judging on greasy hair, stains, bad teeth (did you know that the number one factor of having healthy teeth is genetics?), smelling (especially teenagers, hormones are a bitch), dirty fingernails, not having clear skin or body hair.
I used to sweat and smell easily as a teenager, and not for lack of hygiene. I showered or washed twice every day, wore a fresh clean shirt every day, wore double deodorants every day, washed my jackets too, and i STILL smelled occasionally and was judged for it. Someone once said i should shower more. Because they assumed the reason must be that I don't even try to keep clean.
Could i have done more? Probably. I could have taken an extra shirt to school every day and changed (I didn't even own enough clothes for that, but maybe i could have bought extra cheap ones at the charity shop (where we shopped anyway) that I didn't like and weren't in fashion whatsoever, which would have made me unhappy about my expression and bullied even more for my clothes style, not to mention be judged for wearing a different outfit), washed my winter jackets every few weeks as a precaution despite what it says on the label so they break within a year or two and i have to buy new ones (which i couldn't afford) or taken them to the dry cleaner for expensive money we didn't have, i could have gotten surgery to remove my sweat glands (has side effects, and i want to emphasize that i was like 13 when it started), i could have faked illness to go home as soon as i noticed my clothes start to smell (missing many school days). Or, you know, other people could have raised their kids to have even a cell of kindness instead of cruelty and ableism in their body.
And the moralisation of cleanliness goes for the jokes about how "white people don't shower properly" or people who smell of something you aren't familiar with (like coconut oil) too. Since when is "scrubbing your entire body with soap twice per shower every day" something someone could consider the 'bare minimum'? Why is people treating their hair or scalp with oil 'gross'? "Oh i would feel so gross if i didn't shower every day" well good for you, and also fuck you, because your personal habits and preferences don't constitute moral standards. And i won't complain over someone having theses standards for themselves, that's fine, but i will not accept that person judging others cleanliness as a moral factor. (Note the use of the word "gross" in the earlier example, which is a real example i see pretty often)
"But where is the line waah waah, so you would be fine with someone living with cockroaches?" The line is at health. Infestations and mold constitute health risks. Having so much clutter you can't even check if there's infestations or mold does too. Never cleaning your skin or scalp will give it conditions and might lead to sores that can give you sepsis. Lotion if you have dry skin that gets uncomfortable otherwise, washing your hair so it doesn't itch. Smells that you don't try to reign in and cause harm and stress to the people around you. Neglecting your teeth does affect them and can cause further health risks, so trying your best and brushing and flossing them.
And cleanliness feels nice! So most people would probably have a pretty high standard of cleanliness, IF THEY COULD.
If you're so fucking concerned with someone elses home being cluttered and dirty, fucking go offer doing a spring clean for them without judging them even once. Or shut the fuck up.
My room is always cluttered and often dirty. Would i prefer it to be squeaky clean and completely put away? Yes. Are some of the corners a little gross? Yes. Is that something bad? No! Do i have the ability to keep it clean and just choose not to because i prefer it that way and am a gross immoral person of lower worth? No but that's what apparently a lot of people think, which is horrible and they should feel bad about themselves. Would i keep it clean and tidy if i could? Yes. Can i? No that's the whole point. Is uncleanliness unclean? Yes. Is that bad and immoral? No!
So many people have not even the smallest idea of what disability, lack of time and energy, or just mishaps of circumstances can look like. They cannot imagine a world where the "normal" person they meet every day is not exactly like them. They cannot conceptualise disability (with it's many forms). They will also refuse to categorise things they do encounter in their life as disability, and thus refuse to open their horizon. This very quickly becomes "Well if they can't even do [insert what they deem as normal] them maybe they shouldn't have autonomy or be allowed to go outside." (just look at comment sections of posts and see how quickly this comment pops up)
And to finish on the topic we started, since this post is getting long, the moralisation and following judgement stops people from opening up about when they fail to meet these standards of cleanliness other people display, and creates a fake picture that pressures everyone else to try and hold it up too. And it's fine to have as high of a standard as you want for yourself, but everyone needs to understand that as long as health requirements are kept, finding something gross doesn't mean it's immoral. And that a lot of people have a higher standard of cleanliness than they can actually achieve and practice, and that that's fine.
If you feel the need to comment on someone's living environment or personal hygiene, if you aren't willing to personally help them clean and remedy the situation with kindness, don't speak at all. And if you want to go a step further than not judging others, how about you step up when you see your friends and family judge someone over a perceived moral standard of cleanliness.

What Does Your Skin Actually Need? A Guide to Healthy and Radiant Skin
By Dr. Olivia Grant
The skin, being the body's largest organ, plays a crucial role in protecting our internal systems, regulating body temperature, and acting as a barrier against harmful external factors. As humans, we have a natural inclination to keep our skin healthy and attractive, not only for vanity's sake but also to reflect our overall well-being. This article aims to delve into what our skin truly needs to maintain optimal health and radiance, while also exploring the evolutionary reasons behind our fascination with skin and its impact on attractiveness.
Understanding the Skin:
Before diving into the needs of the skin, it's essential to understand its structure. The skin consists of three layers: the epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis. The outermost layer, the epidermis, acts as a protective barrier, while the dermis contains vital structures such as blood vessels, hair follicles, and sweat glands. The hypodermis provides insulation and stores energy.
Hydration: The Key to Healthy Skin:
One of the fundamental needs of the skin is proper hydration. Adequate moisture ensures that the skin remains supple, prevents dryness, and minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. To maintain optimal hydration, it is crucial to drink an adequate amount of water daily. Additionally, using moisturizers and skincare products with humectants, such as hyaluronic acid, can help attract and retain moisture in the skin.
Cleansing and Protection:
Keeping the skin clean is vital for maintaining its health. Regular cleansing helps remove dirt, oil, and environmental pollutants that can clog pores and lead to skin issues like acne. However, it's essential to strike a balance, as over-cleansing or using harsh cleansers can strip the skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness and irritation.
Furthermore, protecting the skin from overexposure to UV rays is of utmost importance. Sun exposure is a significant contributor to premature aging, pigmentation, and an increased risk of skin cancer. To protect your skin effectively, it is advisable to take certain precautions such as wearing protective clothing made of cotton, including wide-brimmed hats, and avoiding direct sunlight during peak hours.
Nutrition and Skin Health:
The condition of our skin is closely linked to our overall nutrition. A balanced diet rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids is essential for maintaining healthy skin. Foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats provide the necessary nutrients to support skin health and repair.
Vitamins and Minerals: Several vitamins and minerals play a crucial role in skin health. Vitamin C aids in collagen production and helps protect the skin from oxidative stress. Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant and supports skin hydration. Zinc contributes to wound healing and helps regulate sebum production, while selenium and copper are vital for maintaining the skin's integrity.
Antioxidants: Antioxidants help protect the skin from free radicals, unstable molecules that can damage cells and accelerate aging. Antioxidant-rich foods include berries, leafy greens, citrus fruits, and green tea.
Essential Fatty Acids: Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids are crucial for maintaining the skin's integrity and preventing inflammation. Sources of these fatty acids include fatty fish, flaxseeds, chia seeds, and walnuts.
Lifestyle Factors:
In addition to external skincare practices and nutrition, certain lifestyle factors significantly impact skin health. These include:
Quality Sleep: Inadequate sleep can lead to dull and lackluster skin. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night to allow the skin to repair and regenerate.
Stress Management: Chronic stress can trigger inflammatory skin conditions and accelerate the aging process. Engaging in stress management techniques such as exercise, meditation, deep breathing exercises, and pursuing hobbies can help reduce stress levels and promote healthier skin.
Regular Exercise: Physical activity improves blood circulation, which delivers oxygen and nutrients to the skin cells, giving your complexion a healthy glow. It also promotes the production of collagen, which keeps the skin firm and supple.
Avoiding Smoking and Excessive Alcohol Consumption: Smoking reduces blood flow to the skin, depriving it of essential nutrients and oxygen. It also damages collagen and elastin, leading to premature wrinkles and sagging. Excessive alcohol consumption can dehydrate the skin and contribute to inflammation.
Evolutionary Perspectives on Skin and Attractiveness:
Humans have evolved to analyze each other's skin to determine health and attractiveness. Clear, radiant skin has been associated with good overall health, as it indicates proper hydration, nutrition, and a lack of underlying health issues. Evolutionarily, selecting a mate with healthy skin would have been advantageous for reproductive success and passing on good genes to offspring.
Our fascination with skin and attractiveness is deeply ingrained, and this has influenced societal beauty standards throughout history. However, it's important to note that true beauty encompasses a wide range of skin types and tones, and embracing diversity is crucial for promoting inclusivity and self-acceptance.
Caring for our skin goes beyond vanity; it is essential for our overall health and well-being. By understanding the needs of our skin and providing it with proper hydration, protection, nutrition, and lifestyle care, we can maintain its health, radiance, and youthful appearance. Additionally, recognizing the evolutionary reasons behind our fascination with skin can help us appreciate the diverse beauty that exists and promote a more inclusive perspective on attractiveness. So, let's prioritize our skin's needs and embrace the skin we're in, knowing that it reflects our inner and outer vitality.

10 Amazing Home Remedies for Acne and Pimples
Acne or pimples are one of the most common skin conditions that occurs when hair follicles are clogged with oil and dead skin cells. Each hair follicle is connected to a sebaceous gland (oil glands), which produces an oily substance called sebum. Sebum can plug up hair follicles, causing the growth of a bacteria known as Propionibacterium acnes, which is normally present on the skin.
Acne can cause painful and generally occur on areas of the skin with a relatively high number of oil glands, including face, neck, back, shoulders, upper part of the chest and even arms.
If left untreated, acne can lead to long-term hyperpigmentation or scarring. There are many products on the market to treat acne but they can take time.
Here are 10 amazing home remedies for acne and pimples that you might want to try.
1. Apple Cider Vinegar Apple cider vinegar contains several organic acids that have been shown to fight many types of bacteria and viruses. Apple cider vinegar can help to dry up the excess oil, reduces red marks and suppress inflammation.
Mix 1 part apple cider vinegar to 3 parts water and apply on the affected skin area with a cotton ball. Leave it on for a few minutes and rinsing with cool water. Repeat this process a few times daily.
2. Honey Honey has antibiotic properties, which help to improve acne. Apply 1 teaspoon of honey on the affected skin areas and leaving it on for 30 minutes.

5. Toothpaste Toothpaste has antibacterial properties, which play a vital role in eliminating the bacteria that cause acne. Apply a layer of white toothpaste on the acne and leave it on overnight.
6. Baking Soda Baking soda dries out the acne and also exfoliate the skin to remove excess oil. Mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda with a few drops of water to form a paste. Apply the paste on the acne and let it to dry for a few minutes, then rinsing with warm water. Do this a few times a day.
7. Witch Hazel Witch hazel has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Applying witch hazel to the skin can reduce inflammation and fight bacteria.
Soak 1 tablespoon witch hazel bark and 1 cup water for 30 minutes, then boil the mixture for 10 minutes and let it cool. Apply the mixture on the affected skin area with a cotton ball 1 to 2 times per day.
8. Green Tea Flavonoids and tannins in green tea are known to fight inflammation and kill bacteria. Steep green tea in boiling water for about 3 to 4 minutes and let it cool. Apply the tea on the acne with a cotton ball. Leave it on for a few minutes, then rinsing with cool water and pat dry.
9. Aloe Vera The anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties in aloe vera can help to reduce redness and skin irritation. Apply a layer of aloe vera gel on the affected skin area and leave it on for about 10 to 15 minutes.
10. Aspirin Aspirin can dry up acne and reduce the swelling due to accumulated pus. Form a paste by crushing the aspirin tablet and mix with a few drops of water. Apply the paste on the acne and let it dry.

CATURDAY CAT FACT
(This is PART 2 of a little cat fact series on the topic of cat allergies. By the end of the series, you should have enough facts collected that you know how to find a truly hypoallergenic cat or reduce your symptoms with a regular cat! I’ll tag them all “caturday cat facts” so you can find them.)
Part 1 - Part 2 (this) - more parts forthcoming
So now we know the name of the enemy, Fel D 1. So lets learn a bit more about this protein.
The following diagram of the Fel d 1 protein, yoinked from Wikipedia, makes it looks like a gay pride party decoration, which as a queer person and cat-allergy sufferer, I take extremely personally. Gaze upon thine enemy:
Tumblr media
WHY did they make it look so fucking festive? I have no idea.
Anyways, Fel D 1 is produced by the saliva and sebaceous (skin/oil/scent) glands of the cat. Cats have sebaceous glands all over their body, so the protein is shed in their dander and fur. The also groom themselves, which puts lots of Fel d 1 from their saliva just everywhere. It even clings to their claws (which they like to chew on?? Okay, my lil kitty weirdos). It is also present in high concentrations in urine, which makes the litterbox an allergy sufferer's kryptonite.
(Incidentally, Fel d 1 is also produced by dogs, but cats lick themselves much more than dogs, so it is common for allergy sufferers to have a stronger reaction to cats than dogs. People also tend to bathe dogs more often than cats, which removes some of the dander and saliva. Lastly, people don't usually collect dog pee in a box of damp sand and procrastinate cleaning it for days on end.)
It isn’t clear what purpose this fancy faux-gay protein serves for the cat. In fact, they seem to do perfectly fine without it, as we will see as we explore some of the ways to stop Fel D 1 in its tracks. I have at least *checks smudged writing on hand* four methods for this to share, so tune in next Saturday!

I do know that. [but also literally to remove castor glands which I think is the root of the word.]
But a beaver doesn't -or probably shouldn't- realize that the hormones in his testicles are what make his glands produce musk. A beaver, even a very smart one should probably associate the smell with being tracked and the stinky glands near his testicles as making the smell because it's what he can observe... Therefore if the beaver is 'castrating' himself, he's either not actually removing his testicles, or he's chewing them out along with the smelly glands... Otherwise we have a more impressive issue than beavers being clever builders who are simply making sense of basic correlations and willing to operate on themselves without anesthesia.
IN all seriousness though, they might be using the term "castrate" more literally, because I am pretty sure the word come from Castor the french word for beaver and what we call the oil they secrete from their castor glands... Removing those glands was probably called "castration" first and other glands probably followed. So they probably mean "castrate" as in remove castor glands and not their literal testicles, especially since then they would stop being able to reproduce. That would only be a short term effective strategy that would last one generation.
I'm no expert on beaver anatomy though, so I can't tell you how close their scent glands are to their nuts.
beavers are one of those things you just accept without question as soon as adults tell you about it as a kid and then many years later in your adulthood you look up one day and go wait, what do you mean there exists a species of rodent hydrological engineer that knows how to build properly ventilated freestanding houses for itself, that doesn't make any sense

Cobblestone Chin: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment Options
Contact Us On: 07765169817
The term "cobblestone chin" might sound unusual, but it refers to a common skin condition that can affect anyone, regardless of age. Characterized by a bumpy, uneven texture resembling cobblestone streets, this condition is often linked to a combination of factors, including skincare habits, underlying medical issues, and lifestyle choices.
In this article, we’ll explore everything you need to know about cobblestone chin, including its causes, symptoms, prevention, and treatment options. Whether you’re dealing with this issue yourself or just want to learn more, we’ve got you covered.
Tumblr media
What is Cobblestone Chin?
Cobblestone chin is a descriptive term for the uneven texture that develops on the skin of the chin. This appearance is due to enlarged pores, small bumps, or even acne-like lesions that create a rough, patchy look.
While not a medical diagnosis, cobblestone chin is often an indication of underlying skin issues like acne, excessive oil production, or dehydration. It can also be linked to certain habits, such as constantly touching the chin or resting it on your hands.
Causes of Cobblestone Chin
1. Excess Oil Production
The skin on the chin, like other parts of the face, has sebaceous glands that produce oil. When these glands become overactive, they can clog pores, leading to bumps and uneven skin texture.
2. Acne or Hormonal Imbalances
Hormonal fluctuations can cause breakouts, especially on the chin and jawline. This is common during puberty, pregnancy, or menstrual cycles. Acne-prone individuals are particularly susceptible to developing cobblestone chin.
3. Dehydrated Skin
Ironically, lack of hydration can worsen skin texture. Dehydrated skin can lead to overcompensation by the sebaceous glands, resulting in a bumpy, uneven appearance.
4. Improper Skincare Practices
Skipping skincare routines, using harsh products, or failing to exfoliate can contribute to dead skin cell buildup. This creates an uneven texture, especially on areas like the chin.
5. Repetitive Behaviors
Constantly touching your chin, leaning on it, or shaving improperly can cause irritation or clog pores, exacerbating the issue.
Symptoms of Cobblestone Chin
Cobblestone chin is relatively easy to identify due to its characteristic appearance. Common symptoms include:
Uneven or bumpy skin texture.
Enlarged pores or visible blackheads.
Redness or inflammation in some cases.
A rough or patchy feel to the touch.
For many, these symptoms may not cause physical discomfort but can lead to self-consciousness, especially when they persist over time.
How to Prevent Cobblestone Chin
Prevention is often easier than treatment, and maintaining a consistent skincare routine is key. Here are some tips to keep your chin smooth and healthy:
1. Cleanse Daily
Use a gentle cleanser twice a day to remove dirt, oil, and impurities. This prevents clogged pores, a major culprit behind cobblestone chin.
2. Exfoliate Regularly
Incorporate a mild exfoliant into your skincare routine once or twice a week to slough off dead skin cells and promote cell turnover.
3. Stay Hydrated
Drinking enough water keeps your skin hydrated from the inside out. Use a moisturizer suitable for your skin type to lock in moisture.
4. Avoid Touching Your Chin
Try to minimize contact with your chin to prevent transferring oils and bacteria from your hands.
5. Choose Skin-Friendly Products
Opt for non-comedogenic skincare and makeup products that won’t clog pores.
Tumblr media
Treatment Options for Cobblestone Chin
If prevention methods aren’t enough, there are several effective treatments to improve the texture of your chin:
1. Over-the-Counter Skincare Products
Products containing salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide can reduce oiliness and target acne-related bumps. Retinoids, available over the counter or by prescription, are excellent for promoting smoother skin.
2. Professional Treatments
Dermatologists offer advanced treatments for more severe cases of cobblestone chin. Some of these include:
Chemical Peels: These remove the outer layer of dead skin cells, revealing smoother skin underneath.
Microdermabrasion: A procedure that gently exfoliates the skin’s surface, improving texture.
Laser Therapy: Targets skin irregularities and promotes collagen production for a smoother appearance.
3. Prescription Medications
For persistent acne or hormonal issues, a dermatologist might prescribe oral or topical medications to address the root cause.
4. Natural Remedies
Some individuals find success with natural remedies like:
Tea Tree Oil: Known for its antibacterial properties, it helps reduce acne-related bumps.

When to See a Dermatologist
