Does Revali have childhood photos that he is embarrassed about?

Capturing 'photo-graphs' is still a modern concept to me, something that was really only discovered when the Princess unearthed that Sheika Slate.

Back in my youth we didn't have anything like that, so there are very few physical records of my appearence. However, I did find this hatchling painting in the Village records which potentially could have been me. All new hatchlings were painted back then and added to the directory - though the writing is obscured in the book and frankly all hatchlings sort of look the same before their feathers grow in.

Nothing to be embaressed about though. If this is me, I was a rather adorable young chick.

You know what I havn't heard anyone talk about yet?

The fact the Rito use what look like their own simplified version of compound bows.

So - for anyone who doesn't know archery, there's different types of bows you can use. The type you'll usually see in media is a long bow. (There's also flat bows, recurve bows, crossbows, etc.)

A compound bow is a more modern bow - and the most common type you'd probably use now days if you joined an archery club.

You can see the familiarities - the wheels, the supports, the shapes. The Rito bows are like a wooden version.

So why is it interesting? Well - they made the design choice to chose a more modern bow style rather than a more traditional one like a longbow dispite the fact the enviroments aren't modern. So this was a very specific design decision they made. Why are compound bows more commonly used now days? Because they take less strength to pull and fire. Simple as that. To shoot a long bow, you need very good upper arm strength. Compound bows distribute the pressure to make them easier to wield if you don't have that.

Birds have hollow bones so that they can fly, and the Rito warriors seem to mostly have slender builds for dexterity. The liklihood is that they don't have incredible muscle strength. So using compound bows makes perfect sense. They can also be lighter, because a long bow or a flat bow must be made of a solid piece of wood so it can bend without breaking, but a compound bow is usually made from hollow pieces of metal (though theoretically could be made from wood), because they don't have so much pressure on them. So they'd be able to be flown around with much easier.

This probably isn't of any interest to anyone, but it was something interesting I noticed that I wanted to share!

Day 5: race/species

Soooo I didn’t post this yesterday because honestly, I’m not happy with it at all. But then I though, fuck it, I spent time making this so I may as well show it off.

I looove Rito and Rito Village, and if I had the time I would probably have drawn something more intricate, something that captures my love for them even deeper. But who knows, that might happen another day.

So, you’ve said you’re really fast. Do you have a number of how fast you are? Like in mph or km/h

I made it from Rito Village to Zoras Domain once in under an hour and it's around sixty miles away. So I'd say my top speed is typically around sixty miles an hour.

Faster than even Vah Naboris can move. Why - I might even be the fastest thing in all of Hyrule.

I've yet to find anything that can outspeed me. Honnestly it's terribly lonely up here on the bar I've set so unbelievably high that nobody can reach...

Here is Archery Nerd fact #3! Something that the game actually does inaccuratly, unfortunatly.

So, when you draw a bow - you should never grip the handle. You're actually supposed to let it rest in your purlicue (the skin bit between your thumb and forefinger) and keep your hand open, letting the arrow rest on your pointing finger to aim and keep it straight.

"Oh, but won't the bow just....fall out of your hand when you release the shot???" - Yes!!! It is actually supposed to do that. Many archers wear a little strap around their wrist to catch it as it falls - but if you have good reflexes, you can just grab it.

But why can't you grip the handle? Well - because the force when you release the string will cause your grip to shake, and the shot will be skewed.

Anyway - here is a super rough reference for any artists wanting to draw the bird bois shooting accuratly!

Wind gets to be remembered

Fanfic prompt : Considering how important the hero of the wind was to the rito

What if they actually started war shipping Wind

Who kind of didn’t notice that and just thought they were happy he saved their dragon

Like Valoo is definitely someone they honor greatly because he gifted them his scales and gave them wings in their need to escape the Dead Sea

And he was extremely upset recently and nobody knows how to help him

Till a kid blessed by the wind gods appears and saved him

While also calming him down again

Inspired the son of the chief to try earning his wings

Then the one rito who could speak to Valoo was sent with him to go to an ancient temple called the earth temple where she reconnected with their ancestors

Also the dragon went and burns down a random fortress for his savior

And then the hero went on an adventure to find new land for all of them to live in

And also gained even more power in the form of seeing ghosts and stop time (phantom hourglass)

Succeeded at finding land

And everyone moved

And considering that breath of the wild has outright named him when speaking about the heroes of the past when they thanked the winds ,the twilight and time while Flora sounded like she couldn’t care less)

I am kind of surprised that the Rito and the Zora don’t care about someone who reunited them with eachother

Like imagine if the chain gets dropped off in rito village and the rito (who already were shown to not care THAT much for hylian heroes but still remember revali)

Just ignored everyone else but the ancient hero of their people (if the hylians get to remember the hero of time then the rito definitely remember someone as important to them )

The Zora too would just warship him because they would have never seen their sister race if not for the hero of winds

Like it would have been so funny if the random races had remembered the hero of winds

For all he did for them

Like they got to consider him the next best thing after sliced bread

pt 2 i might be a little stupid but in my defense who doesnt just glide from rito village straight over the lake to the flight range 100% of the time not even knowing there’s a path around the lake. right?
