The Importance of Regular Check-ups with an Endocrinologist
When it comes to maintaining overall health and well-being, regular check-ups with various specialists play a crucial role. One such specialist that often gets overlooked is the endocrinologist. Many individuals are unaware of the vital functions an endocrinologist performs and the significance of scheduling regular visits with them. In this article, we will explore the importance of regular check-ups with an endocrinologist and how they can help ensure a healthy and balanced life.
Understanding the Role of an Endocrinologist
An endocrinologist is a medical expert who specializes in diagnosing and treating conditions related to the endocrine system. The endocrine system is a complex network of glands that produce and secrete hormones, which regulate various bodily functions such as metabolism, growth, reproduction, and mood. Some of the essential glands in the endocrine system include the thyroid, pancreas, pituitary, adrenal, and reproductive glands.
Detecting and Managing Hormonal Imbalances
One of the primary reasons to visit an endocrinologist regularly is to detect and manage hormonal imbalances. Hormones act as messengers in the body, and even a slight imbalance can lead to significant health issues. Common conditions such as diabetes, thyroid disorders, and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) often require expert management by an endocrinologist. Through comprehensive testing and evaluation, an endocrinologist can identify these imbalances and create personalized treatment plans.
Managing Chronic Conditions
For individuals living with chronic endocrine disorders, regular check-ups with an endocrinologist are essential to keep the condition under control. Conditions like diabetes require continuous monitoring of blood sugar levels and adjustments to insulin or medication dosages. By staying in touch with an endocrinologist, patients can better manage their conditions and reduce the risk of complications.
Preventive Care and Early Detection
Regular visits to an endocrinologist also promote preventive care and early detection of potential health issues. Endocrinologists can assess a patient's risk factors for certain endocrine-related conditions and provide lifestyle recommendations to minimize those risks. Additionally, they can conduct screenings and tests to identify any developing problems at an early stage, increasing the chances of successful treatment.
Weight Management and Nutrition Advice
Weight management is often a struggle for many individuals, and the endocrine system can play a significant role in this aspect. Hormonal imbalances can lead to weight gain or difficulty losing weight. Endocrinologists can provide valuable insights into effective weight management strategies tailored to an individual's specific hormonal profile. Furthermore, they can offer nutrition advice to support overall endocrine health.
Reproductive Health and Fertility
For couples planning to start a family or facing challenges with fertility, an endocrinologist can be a valuable resource. They can assess and address potential issues with hormone levels, which may be affecting fertility. With their expertise, endocrinologists can suggest appropriate interventions to improve the chances of conception and a healthy pregnancy.
Addressing Bone and Calcium Disorders
Bone health is crucial for maintaining an active lifestyle and preventing conditions like osteoporosis. Endocrinologists can diagnose and treat disorders related to calcium metabolism and bone density. They can recommend lifestyle changes, supplements, or medications to strengthen bones and reduce the risk of fractures.
Managing Menopause and Andropause Symptoms
As individuals age, hormonal changes can lead to menopause in women and andropause (male menopause) in men. These transitions can come with various uncomfortable symptoms, affecting both physical and emotional well-being. Endocrinologists can offer guidance and treatments to alleviate these symptoms and improve the overall quality of life during these phases.
Understanding the Impact of Stress
Stress can significantly impact the endocrine system, leading to hormone imbalances and various health issues. Endocrinologists can help individuals understand the connection between stress and hormonal health. They can suggest stress management techniques to maintain hormonal balance and reduce the risk of stress-related complications.
Creating Individualized Treatment Plans
No two individuals are the same, and neither are their endocrine systems. Endocrinologists excel at creating personalized treatment plans that consider each patient's unique medical history, lifestyle, and health goals. This individualized approach ensures that patients receive the best possible care and support for their specific needs.
Conclusion
In conclusion, regular check-ups with an endocrinologist are of utmost importance for maintaining a healthy and balanced life. From detecting hormonal imbalances to managing chronic conditions, addressing reproductive health and bone disorders, and offering personalized treatment plans, endocrinologists play a vital role in our overall well-being. By prioritizing regular visits to these specialists, individuals can take charge of their hormonal health, prevent potential issues, and enhance their quality of life in the long run. Remember, your endocrinologist is not just a doctor; they are your partner in achieving and maintaining optimal health. So, schedule your check-up today and take the first step towards a healthier future.

wait, are the health claims from bone broth bogus? (genuine/good faith question). i’ve always heard that it’s high in collagen, which supposedly is good for you and better if you get it ‘naturally’ like from bone broth. is that another thing that’s not actually true, or wildly exaggerated?
Bone broth has been eaten for centuries in various cultures because it is easy to digest and believed to have healing properties. Chicken broth is highly valued by some as a remedy for the flu. In more recent years it has been promoted to help symptoms from psychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders including autism and attention-deficit hyperactivity. [7] Claims that it detoxifies the liver, improves digestion, reverses wrinkles, builds bones, and relieves join pain have led some marketing analysts to predict that the bone broth market will approach $3 billion by 2024. [8] In reality, bone broth contains only small amounts of minerals naturally found in bone including calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, phosphorus, sodium, and copper. The amount of protein, obtained from the gelatin, varies from 5-10 grams per cup. There is some concern that bone broth contains toxic metals like lead. One small study found that bone broth made from chicken bones contained three times the lead as chicken broth made with the meat only. [7] However the amount of lead in the bone broth per serving was still less than half the amount permitted by the Environmental Protection Agency in drinking water. A different study found that bone broth, both homemade and commercially produced, contained low levels (<5% RDA) of calcium and magnesium as well as heavy metals like lead and cadmium. [9] The study noted that various factors can affect the amount of protein and minerals extracted in bone broth: the amount of acidity, cooking time, cooking temperature, and type of animal bone used. Therefore it is likely that the nutritional value of bone broths will vary widely.

Your body makes collagen; eating collagen will put the things that make collagen into your body to make collagen with, but so will eating things that go into making collagen (amino acids, basically).
There's not good evidence that eating a ton of collagen or supplementing collagen improves your body's collagen production, and studies on collagen supplementation tend to be done by companies that make collagen supplements or produce expensive bone broth.
Basically if you're eating the 9 essential amino acids by consuming complete proteins (which can be done on any kind of diet, vegan or vegetarian or including meat - this is NOT one of those things your body relies on animal products to produce) your body is going to make collagen and it's going to have the amino acids handy to make collagen; consuming more collagen may mean that your body has more of those collagen-forming amino acids on hand, but it doesn't mean that your body is going to be any more efficient at producing collagen (and your body is going to become less efficient at producing collagen as you age).
But yeah bone broth health claims are primarily bogus. If you want more collagen in your diet for whatever reason, it's probably about as effective to eat jello as it is to eat bone broth but also more collagen in your diet likely isn't doing anything special.

Here are some tips that have helped me stay sane in the face of my body dysmorphia and disordered eating habits.
Positivity time! This one's for all the ladies out there struggling with their bodies.
Body dysmorphia causes changes to visual areas of the brain. Your brain is literally lying to you. You are hallucinating. No, seriously. This is SO SO IMPORTANT. Look, if you have an ED then chances are, you may very well have legitimate body dysmorphic disorder. Your brain may be warping and distorting the image in the mirror. It's why everyone around you keeps saying how thin you are, but all you can see in the mirror is flab. It's a neurophysiological thing. (Most of the literature on BDD seems to pertain to cases regarding the patient's facial features or similar, rather than in the context of body size in ED patients, though.)
One binge won't undo your progress. Everyone fucks up sometimes. Don't dwell, don't ruminate, just pick yourself up the next day and keep going! This applies to "binges" in the proper clinical sense, as well as 4n4 "binges" that are more aptly described as simply "overeating." I occasionally will give myself a "free day" once a month or so, or if it's a holiday or something.
If you fast and restrict, take a good multivitamin, plus a calcium supplement! I also take thiamine to be safe. Being thin and undereating are associated with osteoporosis risk later in life, so calcium is a must! You need to make sure you're getting all of the critical micronutrients your body needs to function.
Exercise, especially cardio, helps with dopamine regulation. I have industrial strength ADHD-PI, ymmv. I also find that exercise bike, walking, or even pacing constantly = STIMMY STIMMY STIM TIME STIMS, MUST STIM, MORE STIM, CANNOT BE STILL, FUCK YOUR QUIET HANDS. Again, ymmv, fuck quiet hands, all my ND homies hate quiet hands.
Strengthening/resistance exercises help prevent osteoporosis later in life. 20-30 minutes 3-5x/week of yoga or pilates is great for this!
THC gummies are pretty low calorie. Shoutout to drugs other than alcohol for not having calories! (I use cannabis and hallucinogens, not big on hard drugs though.)
If you do drink, there are low cal options, but please moderate and try to follow CDC guidelines and avoid frequent binge drinking!! Guys, susceptibility to addiction runs in families. Also, struggling with impulse control aspects of binging may cooccur sometimes with susceptibility to alcohol abuse and addiction. I like vodka with diet tonic water, gin and tonic with diet tonic water, and vodka cosmos with diet 5 cal cranberrry "juice!" White Claw and similar hard seltzers are also great. Personally, I avoid drinking alone, don't drink all that often, and take care to be responsible and cautious. Ymmv, especially if you're still in early adulthood and just now starting to really experiment with substances!
When you do eat, make sure to get enough protein and fats! Carbs, you can take or leave. No one ever died from lack of carbohydrates, oddly enough. Protein and fat, though? I've had seizures due to low blood protein (combined with an accidental double dose of bupropion, to be fair). Rabbit starvation is a thing. This is especially important to pay attention to if you're vegetarian or vegan! Egg whites, chicken, tuna and other fish, olives, chickpeas, nuts, and beans are all good low calorie sources of protein and fats. (Olives, legumes, and especially nuts are energy dense though, so moderation is key.)
Enjoy the nice, healthy, low calorie foods that you do eat. It's okay to enjoy food, even if it's safe foods like light salads or cauliflower rice with vegetables.
Seek out social support and harm reduction advice. One thing people overlook about the whole "pr0 4n4" thing is that these communities are key sources of social support and harm reduction information for people who struggle with EDs.

My PMDD hell: why I went abroad to have my ovaries removed (Sarah Gillespie, The Times, Nov 27 2024)
"For six years, from my late twenties, I have lived with a condition called premenstrual dysphoric disorder, or PMDD.
Due to a genetic quirk, I have a brain sensitivity that makes my body intolerant to its own hormonal changes.
Instead of becoming moody and irritable, as with PMS, I become catatonic and racked with pain.
Dysphoria blooms in my brain, making me depressed and paranoid. I binge on carbohydrates, needing 3,000 calories a day just to function.
This happens for 7-14 days every month, during the latter half of my menstrual cycle, as hormone levels plummet.
On the third day of my period, the fog lifts and I feel normal again. But relief is soon replaced by dread as I survey the destruction.
There are relationships to repair, overdue bills to pay and excess pounds to lose.
It is the life of Sisyphus: every month, I roll the boulder up the mountain only for it to roll down again. (…)
PMDD is surprisingly common and, according to World Health Organisation data, affects 5.5 per cent of women of child-bearing age — about 824,000 women in the UK.
Of these, more than a third have attempted suicide. Yet hardly anyone’s heard of it.
No one knows the cause, either, though scientists generally agree that it’s genetic — hence why psychological therapies can’t fully fix it.
It was only in 2019 that the WHO added PMDD to its international classification of diseases and related health problems (ICD-11), legitimising it as a medical diagnosis (though there are still medical professionals who dispute its existence). (…)
After diagnosis, women with PMDD are put onto a ladder of treatments ranked from least to most invasive.
But as the body ages and hormones become more erratic, PMDD gets progressively worse.
So even when I found a rung on the ladder that worked, I never got to rest there for long.
First, there were lifestyle changes: diet, weight training, high-intensity interval training (HIIT).
Then supplements: chasteberry, evening primrose, magnesium, calcium, L-tryptophan, vitamin B6. Then antidepressants: fluoxetine, sertraline, citalopram.
Then contraceptives: Evra, Yasmin, Eloine. Finally, there was HRT: Utrogestan, Estradot, Estraderm.
I climbed that ladder for five years. Only HIIT and fluoxetine worked, for about nine months each; the rest worked for two months, if at all. (…)
After all this, only one rung was left on the ladder — one with a 96 per cent satisfaction rate, the closest thing to a cure.
This last-resort treatment is a bilateral salpingo oophorectomy: the surgical removal of both ovaries and fallopian tubes.
Upon their removal, all hormone fluctuations would stop, my hormone levels would drop to almost zero and I would enter menopause.
I would need to take hormone replacement therapy (HRT) until my fifties or risk the early onset of osteoporosis, heart disease and dementia. It would also make me infertile. (…)
Getting approved for surgery on the NHS requires a trial period in a reversible “chemical” menopause: monthly injections that would shut down my ovaries, end my suffering and “prove” that I had PMDD.
That was the idea, anyway. Instead, the injections threw my hormones into chaos, resulting in a PMDD episode that lasted for 11 months.
Deprived of even the monthly breaks in my symptoms, I languished in bed.
My attention shattered; I spent countless days scrolling my phone. I gulped down painkillers and sleeping pills like Skittles.
My finances were collapsing. I gained more than two stone in weight.
“It should be working by now,” the gynaecologist said after three months. “Have you tried eating more vegetables?”
The next gynaecologist was no better. “If it hasn’t worked, that suggests it’s not PMDD,” she said. “I should probably refer you to a psychiatrist.”
After months of my pleading, she agreed to write to the surgeon. But her letter was an act of sabotage.
“Sarah has diagnosed herself with PMDD,” she wrote, ignoring my GP’s diagnosis.
“She is on many help groups and accessing a lot of support from other PMDD sufferers online.” In other words: “This hypochondriac is spending too much time on the internet.”
Yes, I was on the internet, but I wasn’t talking to help groups any more.
Instead I’d been digging into scientific papers to find studies on chemical menopause.
Eventually, I found one — a meta-analysis of five clinical trials published in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry.
It stated that chemical menopause treats PMDD in “upwards of 70 per cent” of cases — but not 100 per cent, as the NHS doctors had said.
The International Association for Premenstrual Disorders (IAPMD) backs this up.
On its page on chemical menopause it says, “In rare cases [chemical menopause] does not fully suppress the cycle and there are breakthrough symptoms… If this was the case, you may still respond well to surgical menopause.”
Two months later, I was in Lithuania. Feeling desperate and unable to afford the £10,000 it would cost for private surgery in the UK, I had googled “gynaecology surgery Europe”.
This led me to Nordclinic in Kaunas, which treats about 2,000 British patients annually.
I sent my medical records to the surgeon, who agreed to perform the surgery. (…)
Though it’s early days, I still can’t believe how well I feel. My future unfurls before me without interruption.
I have so much time: time to write, to see friends and family, to travel, go on dates, paint and sing and read and run.
Time to cook, as I can now handle knives without fear. Time to sit and do nothing and burst out laughing from sheer wonder — for life without PMDD is so, so wonderful and I will forever be grateful for it.
That said, I still need to reckon with all the time taken from me over the past six years.
My trust in our healthcare system is broken and will probably never be restored.
I need to kick away the crutches — food, phone, pills, alcohol — that have held me up and rediscover better ways to cope.
But this time, I don’t need to keep starting again and again and again every month.
Yes, the scars are still red and raw. But by next summer, they’ll be gone."

So when I wanted birth control pills I went to my local pharmacy and asked for them, I'm very lucky I have this option to autonomy over my body however it's important to note that birth control pills can have a lot of side effects that aren't properly investigated because of how underfunded reproductive health research is. Side effects of the contraceptive pill include (according to the patient information leaflet):
Serious: blood clots (in leg or foot ie DVT, in a lung ie PE, heart attack, stroke, mini stroke, clots in eye liver stomach or intestine, allergic reaction, breast cancer, cervical cancer, severe liver problems
Less serious: feeling sick, stomach ache, putting on weight, headaches, depressive mood or mood swings, sore breasts, being sick, fluid retention, migraine, loss of interest in sex, breast enlargement, skin rash, poor tolerance of contact lenses, weight loss, increase interest in sex, vaginal or breast discharge, bleeding and spotting between periods, chloasma, occurrence or deterioration of movement disorder chorea, crones disease or ulcerative colitis
In the UK if you want birth control you can go directly to some pharmacies and get it or you go to one GP appointment and get it even if you are under 16
Alternatively you might want an iud. iud insertions are painful women are told to just take an ibuprofen (which some research shows is less effective in women but again that hasn't been fully investigated) during insertion women have reported crying and passing out due to pain levels but it is still not advised that GPS use local anaesthetic during insertion. And again since there is no age restriction for contraception in the UK people under 16 also have to go through this. But that's considered totally acceptable.
What isn't acceptable according to the labour party, are puberty blockers which were obtained by first having a referral to a GP followed by appointments with a multidisciplinary team including a clinical psychologist, child psychotherapist, child and adolescent psychiatrist, family therapist and social worker over three to six months where their then mainly offered psychological treatment finally if your very lucky and also haven't already finished puberty by the time you get to this stage (because NHS waitlist are crazy) you might be sent to a hormone specialist where you might have been given puberty blockers which yes are indeed reversible (the onse that cause irreversible change are oestrogen and testosterone) you can read more about this topic here but this is no longer a possibility because puberty blockers are now considered too dangerous and why is this? What side effects could be worse than the ones caused by contraception that is also available to understand sixteens well apparently puberty blockers are oh so dangerous because they affect bone density. So AFAB people both adults and minors have to suffer from lots of side effects from birth control and no one ever once thought to try create a better version of the pill or they suffer large amounts of pain during iud insertion where again hardly anyone will get anaesthetic however puberty blockers are these terrible things because they may cause bone density issues if that were the case for contraceptives we'd be told to take some calcium and stop whining. Both contraceptives and puberty blockers perform essential functions that save lives and both deserve to be made as safe as possible but this is not about safety this is about hoping trans people will just disappear.

The discovery, detailed in the journal Scientific Reports, could pave the way for refined therapeutics to treat appetite disorders faced by cancer patients as well as anorexia and potentially obesity. After exposing mice to vaporized cannabis sativa, researchers used calcium imaging technology, which is similar to a brain MRI, to determine how their brain cells responded. They observed that cannabis activated a set of cells in the hypothalamus when the rodents anticipated and consumed palatable food that were not activated in unexposed mice.

I have a rather, possibly stupid question. So, I have a Skeledirge of mine, and was breeding some Fuecoco for a while to give to those who want one. However, one came out odd. It’s pink? Is that a concern, or will it be just fine? I don’t know if I want to let him out of my sight without knowing, even though he seems just fine in terms of behavior.
look i don't want to be rude but it's really hard to be polite when you are actively being ignorant about a species of pokemon that you are not only raising but breeding, seemingly without even knowing if there are going to be people you can adopt the offspring out to. you shouldn't just be giving fuecoco away to anyone who wants one, and you certainly shouldn't be breeding your skeledirge at all if you don't even know how to recognize and properly care for a shiny fuecoco. as sunbathers, shiny fuecoco are vulnerable to sunburn and skin damage if their access to uv light isn't monitored closely. this is in addition to shiny reptilian pokemon's tendency to metabolize calcium poorly, which can lead to metabolic bone disorder.
please stop breeding your pokemon and handing them out. it's clear that you don't have the background knowledge to do so properly or safely, and overbreeding of starter pokemon by inexperienced breeders is the main reason shelters have seen an uptick in starter pokemon being surrendered- usually because they weren't bred with battling in mind and don't succeed in battling/have temperament issues. let people get a starter pokemon from a breeder who understands proper breeding practices and is prepared to handle any issues that arise.

I have a disorder which makes my kidney's hate processing calcium- been getting stones since I was 15 and I'm so fucking sorry my dude, they suck.
My ma has the same disorder- she says they're more painful than pregnancy, and really, what is a kidney stone but a little mineral baby your body made for you?
oh GOD anon i'm so, so sorry anon. i wouldn't wish it on anyone. it is, without a doubt, the single most excruciating experience of my life (which, again, is kind of lucky - i haven't been through a lot of pain in my life) you can't eat, you can't sleep – you're shaking like a leaf.
at one point i had to go outside (which, by the way, i couldn't stop hurling as i was walking) simply so i could sleep on a park bench because the cold and the noise of the birds and the hard, hard wood of the bench were the only variables that distracted me from the pain enough to the point where i could sleep. and a guy came up to me trying to give me money. because he thought i was homeless. that was the kind of week i was having last week.
my baby is due in 7 weeks. her name is sharon stone. she is growing healthily at about 2cm. i want her out of me immediately.
#sci speaks#the sci files#i didnt deserve it im a good person#i just drank too many energy drinks. that shuoldnt be a punishable crime.#i know for a fact wade gets kidney stones all the time because his diet is abysmal. and he just whips out the knife and cuts them out.#peter is horrified every time.

Would Wave lay an egg?.....orrr
BOY DO I HAVE NEWS FOR YOU, ANON!!! so, you may not have seen it, but i made a gargantuan post about Babylonian lore that i will link here in case you want to read a couple thousand words of insanity.
the short answer is at least to me, no, and she can’t have kids viviparously either (which is what you could call a “live birth” the way humans do) all because of a Babylonian mutation. it would really help if you read the whole post, but i feel bad redirecting you, so i’ll oversimplify why it happens and copy/paste the relevant subsection below the cut for a more formal deep dive:
- Babylonians didn’t lay eggs
- Babylonians are no longer “pureblooded” and have gone from their large humanoid forms to mobian-looking birds over the years through genetic assimilation
- Mobian birds lay eggs
- Babylonian genes get confused when someone has a lot of Babylonian DNA, but is a “bird” like Wave
- Eggshell doesn’t form and ejects prematurely
- Bloody first trimester mess aka what I endearingly call “the autoflush abortion DLC”
- Wave can’t have bio kids or she might die (what happened to Jet’s mom in my lore and almost happened to Wave once… but that’s another story hehe)
SO TO SUMMARIZE: to me, she wouldn’t lay eggs. or give birth. she would simply pass away <3 thank you for indulging this niche segment of my lore that i never get to talk about that genuinely excites me
Ovisanguitan Testalysis (OT)
Wow, that's a fancy name for "eggs no work" isn't it? This may come as a surprise, but Babylonians did not lay eggs, they are viviparous: need I repeat myself on how they're humanoid? Anyways, while Babylonians have viviparous births, mobian birds that are NOT Babylonian still exist. It might feel like I am pulling this out of nowhere, and perhaps it is a bit hypocritical for me to say "not all birds are going to be Babylonian!" after attributing an entire recessive trait to them two seconds ago, I firmly believe that birds exist outside of Babylon with no genetic ties. This is because… (inhales) BABYLONIANS ARE NOT BIRDS! THEY ARE BIRD-ESQUE, BUT THEY ARE HUMANOID BIRD-ESQUE CREATURES! Wanna know what else look like birds? BATS! DINOSAURS! DRAGONS! CERTAIN INSECTS!
Just because the Babylonians pride themselves on their birdness, it does not necessitate that birdness is exclusive to Babylonians. However, if modern day Babylonians are birds who have assimilated to be very mobian in composition, it would seem that they would be conceived and developed via eggs, not viviparously. As I established though, Babylonian traits are recessive, and therefore still possible (though not probable) given the right genetic composition.
Some modern day Babylonians then, have a reproductive disorder called Ovisanguitan Testalysis, known as OT. While egg-laying mobians develop about 1/3rd of their offspring inside their body before laying, with the latter part of development occurring independently inside the egg which hatches when completed, Babylonians initially gave birth at the end of term like humans do. Modern day Babylonians with OT will "lay" the same time regular egg-laying mobians do, aka after the first trimester, but because of their Babylonian genes, their body does not physically form a shell around the embryo before it is expelled. Without a shell, this is essentially a VERY premature birth that cannot be incubated or salvaged, and is more comparable to an abortion or miscarriage resembling a bloody clump of cells than a premature child.
There are very few instances where Babylonians with OT are able to prevent their bodies from expelling the embryo prematurely with enough calcium supplements and full-time hospitalization that prevents the premature rejection of the fetus, but because the Babylonians with this disorder are almost always Rogues (I'll probably explain that later) it is essentially just a very rare disorder which affects a small population that aren't even registered as legal citizens to any country. It is not IMPOSSIBLE to successfully have a child with OT, just highly unlikely, and they will probably be underdeveloped in some areas (the most likely defect being a lack of immune system… so the child will probably die from disease even if they make it to term).
Also, if someone with OT were to carry a child to term via medical intervention, the strain this puts on their body will most likely kill them, and if by some miracle they survive, they will be incapacitated as they will never fully recover from the nutrient drainage and overall stress this puts on the body.

hey guys! this is going to be my last post i think as i’ve decided to give recovery a real shot as i need to take advantage of all the help and support i have in place now whilst i still have it - i hope you guys understand and support my decision :)
i have suffered with my eating disorder since april 2023 and since have lost around 65lbs (around 30kg), i was admitted to hospital in november due to refeeding and was discharged later in december with community support from my dietitian, psychologist etc, and i was still refusing food to the point i was being threatened with inpaitent again in early january and it had got to the point where i couldn’t even stand up from sitting without collapsing/fainting and my hair was falling out in huge chunks and all my blood tests were showing extreme deficiency’s and i finally realised how much the people around were worried and i realised i need to get better even if its not for myself but for the people around me, so since the middle of january ive managed to up my intake to 2 meals a day and im barely purging and not misusing laxatives at all anymore and of course this hasn’t been easy but i’ve been really engaging with the support and therapy sessions and i do really feel a difference, my weight at the beginning of january was 57kg and ive been maintaining that weight with my current diet and frequent exercise! its not as low as i would have wanted but i guess i can live healthily maintaining at 57kg because my recent blood test have shown improvements in my potassium, vitamin D and b12 however my calcium levels are still quite low and haven’t changed much but im trying to find ways to improve them, so yeh overall recovery is going okay at the moment i mean i still have bad days every now and again but that’s apart of recovery! i have felt the best i have felt physically in months and my mindset has really improved since.
i hope this maybe inspires/encourages someone to give recovery a go! not pushing it tho! everyone needs there own time :)

I want to hear more pregnant Bezz thoughts of yours. What's his pregnancy like? Cravings? Illness? What does he do most of the time? You mentioned he isolated himself, does he get sad when lonely? Does Pecco visit him and help him with stuff? Does Bezz attempt to remember who the father could be and contact him? How does Bezz feel isolating himself when he's usually a very social person? Any preg!bezz thoughts you have, I love your cute au 🩵🩵
ANON I'm sorry I'm so late but my head has lately decided go to a writing strike HSHSHSHS but I've been listening to Alejandra Guzman, Cristina Aguilera and RBD in loop and now I'm better
You have very VERY important questions. Preg! Bezz has been spinning like a piece of spicy chicken in my brain and im go and talking to a bunch of moms to project my man into their problems wuwuwu
This answer is going to be too long and a mess, I'm so sorry orz orz orz
(and each pregnancy is completely unique. What is normal for one person may be a sign of absolute danger for another. Always remember to go to your trusted gynecologist/obstetrician!)
1. What's his pregnancy like? Cravings? Illness?
He craves Japanese food but is banned from sushi! He is an unhappy Bezz when people told him that sushi is dangerous for the baby. Beyond that, he doesn't really have food cravings, he just eats a lot (and then throws up because he feels guilty for eating so much. He has more problems with food than cravings. TCA/Eating Disorder Bezz is very personal to me- but it's going to therapy and continuing with a new nutritionist!)
About symptoms. At first he thinks it's an asymptomatic pregnancy, and it's more like the pregnancy is camouflaging itself.
Like. He's throwing up his guts, but he think “its relates it to the end of the season and the stress causes that in him” (even though he's no longer in line for the championship) (and he's never thrown up from stress before). He then feels fatigued and can't sleep, but that's all because he travels a lot, jet lag and all that. He misses his dog and cries looking at his photos. He has belly cramps, but it's probably something he ate in the paddock when he had a sudden aversion to the smell of chicken and he couldn't eat anything from the hospitality.
On top of that, his painkillers are kicking him between physical therapy.
When the season ends and his body has a chance to catch up, all the symptoms hit him like a truck. Headaches, heartburn, constipation and generally the desire to die to end the torment of him. He is also bloated…? and feels like shit. The bug is charging for every fall he had at the end of the season, or at least that's what Bezz thinks as he gets up for the second time in the night to urinate at the end of the second trimester or when he has to drink his calcium-fortified milk -very expensive and he hates the taste-. The bug is really demanding with they needs!
2. What does he do most of the time? You mentioned he isolated himself, does he get sad when lonely?
I said “practically vanished from the face of the earth.” He wasn't really alone, he is a family man, and of course he returned to his childhood home! His older sister was very happy for him! (The youngest offered him a rue tea as soon as he mentioned that he are pregnant, before Marco clarified that he was going to keep it- wait “Laura, how do you know that these are abortifacients?” “Oh Marco, don't ask questions for which you don't want answers.")
(i'm sorry i love his sisters so much hshshs)
But yeah, he feels so lonely because he went from spending almost all the time with his team or the people at the ranch, not just the other riders, and now is just his family and his new “medical crew” (obstetrician, psychologist, nutritionist).
Also, He is an unemployed man! At least until Valentino calls him and tells him he has something for him to do at the academy (like Migno, lol)
He can't help in the mechanical workshop (although now that Vito goes to the races with him, I wonder what's happened with that), so he goes with his mom to do the administrative work.
He hates it so much :)
Those first months are torture for him and his family. His two sisters capitulated as soon as they could and left (they have a life to, Marco!). When he's not helping his mom or learning to become expert in Excel, he's watching old seasons of MotoGP, F1, and NBA. He stays at home mostly. He gets in a bad mood about it, but he prefers it to having to face his friends :(
But he can now recite by heart the podiums of every MotoGP and F1 race from 2007 and 2008!
3. Does Pecco visit him and help him with stuff?
Yeah! Bezz calls Pecco to tell him because he knows he can't run away forever for his friends, but he calls him at week 15 which is a long time past the period for a termination of pregnancy (wait, are abortions even legal in Italy?). He called pecco when he say himself “there is no turning back from this.”
(He's a fool...)
Pecco, once he discovers that Bezz is no longer going to lock himself in and respond to his messages (although not those from the academy's WhatsApp group...), finds out his home address and appears from time to time to check on him and take him out to eat Japanese food (but not sushi :c). He texts him constantly and listen to Marco when he calls him to tell him something about how horrible he feels and how none of the websites he's seen talk enough about back pain (they do, he doesn't really read a lot).
Bezz is also ignoring the absolute circus that is the 2024 season because he feels rubbish not being there, and Pecco is happy not to touch on the topic at all because talking about the season is talking about Martín and Márquez and no, thanks.
Pecco invites himself to the baby reveal date in the obstetrician (Marco doesn't throw a reveal party, booo) and together they discover that the bug that Bezz is having will be a little boy.
It's Pecco who brings Luca and Franky when Bezz says he's ready to mention it to more people (after finding out the sex of the baby). Luca is the obvious choice for everything and Franky is Franky, so he has to be there. And they go on a shopping trip - with Pecco’s bonus - so they don't have time to process anything at all.
Franky keeps trying to buy VR46-themed things (why are there so many?) while Luca asks the -no- innocent question of “who is the father?”
4. Does Bezz attempt to remember who the father could be and contact him?
NOW. THIS QUESTION.
Short answer: no :)
Long answer: To each person who asks, Bezz will say a very eloquent “I am the father of the baby :D”. He admits that he had sex with a lot of people at that time and doesn't remember most of them, so it's not worth looking for the child's other father. The bug is his, he is carrying it in his body and they don't need anyone else.
REAL Answer: Marco absolutely has an idea who the father is and will DIE before telling anyone, not even his family. He will take that secret to the grave. When his little bug is born and grows with brown eyes and to have curly brown hair, no one will ask about it anymore.
(when the boy grows up to have blue eyes and straight hair, people have QUESTIONS. Marco is not answering.)
