Silence is not usually what fills Korrin’s home. More often than not the walls can barely contain the laughter and conversation between himself and his daughter, his light, his life, but tonight–only silence. It was in times like this he let himself truly miss his wife. What would she do in this situation? How would she try to fix things? How cruel it is that he must do this alone when that was never the intention.

He stands in front of his daughter’s shut bedroom door for what seems like hours, though in reality it’s only a minute or so. His hand hovers in the air and he takes a deep breath before knocking gently. 

It takes a minute before he hears a soft, “What?” behind the door.

“Can I come in?”

Another minute passes. “I guess.” 

Korrin opens the door slowly, as if a force of nature waits for him, but when he sees his daughter sitting on her bed, knees pressed nearly up to her shoulders, his worry softens into a different form, more worried for her than himself. He walks in and perches on the side of her bed, hands crossed in his lap.

“I didn’t want to go to bed angry…Can we talk?”

Keyleth looks up at her father in the warm lamp light of her bedroom. He’s a tall man, Korrin, and yet he manages to make himself so small when he needs to. She eyes him for a moment, deciding whether or not she’s going to give him the out or let her anger continue to boil over. But, as her knees fall to the bedspread, she realizes her anger is no longer boiling. It reduced down to something much quieter: hurt.

She nods her head and Korrin scoots a little further onto the bed now that he knew he could stay. 

“I…am not a perfect man.” He starts with his eyes on his hands, but he forces himself to look at his young daughter, face his self doubts with some respect. “Things of the past shouldn’t hinder our futures. Fear should not run our lives. But the idea of you leaving home so young,” ‘not being with me’ goes unsaid, “scares me. After your mother…I am not saying you should never leave home. One day you are going to become a strong, independent young woman. You are going to turn the world on its axis and make an indelible mark. But for right now, right now, you are my little girl. And I don’t think I can part with you just yet.” 

His eyes fall again, his hands squeezing against each other as he lets the silence wash over them, waiting for Keyleth’s reaction. It is a lot, what he just said, and for a young girl? Is it a mistake to be so honest? 

“I miss Mom too.” She leans forward and crawls into Korrin’s lap, which he happily accepts, wrapping his arms around her so she’s pulled into his chest. “Maybe I can go to camp next year?”

Korrin smiles over her head; the voice in his head is shouting no, keep her here forever, where she’s safe, but he ends up nodding. “Maybe next year.”

love when men cry about body hair bc "it's hygiene" and yet 15% of cis men leave the bathroom without washing their hands at all and an additional 35% only just wet their hands without using soap. that is nearly half of all men. that means statistically you have probably shaken hands with or been in direct contact with one of these people.

love when men say that women "only want money" when it turns out that even in equal-earning homes, women are actually adding caregiver burdens and housework from previous years, whereas men have been expanding leisure time and hobbies. in equal-earning households, men spend an average of 3.5 hours extra in leisure time per week, which is 182 hours per year - a little over a week of paid vacation time that the other partner does not receive. kinda sounds like he wants her money.

love that men have decided women are frail and weak and annoying when we scream in surprise but it turns out it's actually women who are more reliable in an emergency because men need to be convinced to actually take action and respond to the threat. like, actually, for-real: men experience such a strong sense of pride about their pre-supposed abilities that it gets them and their families killed. they are so used to dismissing women that it literally kills them.

love it. told my father this and he said there's lies, damned lies, and statistics. a year ago i tried to get him to evacuate the house during a flash flood. he ignored me and got injured. he has told me, laughing, that he never washes his hands. he has said in the last week that women are just happier when we're cooking or cleaning.

maybe i'm overly nostalgic. but it didn't used to feel so fucking bleak. it used to feel like at least a little shameful to consider women to be sheep. it just feels like the earth is round and we are still having conversations about it being flat - except these conversations are about the most obvious forms of patriarchy. like, we know about this stuff. we've known since well before the 50's.

recently andrew tate tried to justify cheating on his partner as being the "male prerogative." i don't know what the prerogative for the rest of us would be. just sitting at home, watching the slow erosion of our humanity.

the third semester of p5r is wild if you think about it from sumire's perspective, and that's without even getting into the whole sumire/kasumi thing.

imagine you wake up one day and the entire world's a little bit fucked up for some reason. you see a building flickering in and out of existence (the same one where you awoke to some crazy JJBA stand powers, except last time it wasn't visable from the outside). so you call your friend/crush (??) because he knows more about this shit than you do, and he shows up with the idol and ace detective, trademarked 'pleasant-boy' goro akechi?? for some reason??? but hey, if he knows about the metaverse then that's good enough for you. he's a nice enough guy anyway but then you get INTO the metaverse, and his outfit is the edgiest thing you've ever seen, and the moment you get into a fight he's releasing what looks like years of pent up rage by screaming and laughing maniacally while absolutely tearing through shadows. and hes flirting (?) with your friend/crush (??) the whole time

but while he's literally calling your friend/crush (?) a loser and an idiot straight to his face, the meanest thing he calls you is a scardy-cat. he never refers to you by your first name and always uses the honorific '-san,' even while he's yelling. he commentates on every one of your kills like a deranged and zealous sports commentator. you think he respects you (???) youre not sure
