i think i've said it before, like 8 years ago though........ cause he hasn't played bass in 8 years and only got his current bass around 5 months back (i wonder if he sold the two moollons and his fender and squire, he talked about having to buy a new bass then)
but like pre-accident james played soooooo similar to wolstenholme, like the techniques he used, like even when he did funk covers he had the wolstenholme vibe,,, wolstenholme is the reason i bought my bass <3
he was suuuuuuchhhh a good bassist

People who hate richard cameron have completely missed the point of the movie.
and you can all say “but richard cameron is an asshole and he disrespected Mr.keating so much by ratting on him 🥺”
first of all, cameron isn’t a asshole, he is misunderstood. Throughout the whole movie he gets made fun of for things he likes and HIS way of seizing the day. Even though the whole movie is about conformity but that doesn’t seem to matter because every one pushes cameron in to a box to carpe diem the way the rest of the group likes or sees fit.
And the argument that he was disrespecting Keating is crazy, cause he didn’t. Seizing the day means living life to the fullest and everyone hates on cameron for LIVING LIFE THE WAY HE WANTS?!?!THATS NOT DISRESPECTING! THATS LIVING BY WHAT KEATING SAYS?!?!
Yes cameron did rat on Keating but you have to realize he is a kid. I hate people who say “i don’t gaf if he was a kid” as a come back because it’s literally the most annoying response ever. Charlie is a prime example of this. When Charlie “chokes on the bone” as Keating says that shows that Keating wants his students to live life to the fullest but with some regulations set in place for safety. Cause at the end of the end Charlie is impressionable and a kid. Cameron is too. He sees one of his best friends die, not by an accident but by SUCIDE?!?! and he is told by adults that can have a strong impression on kids that “Mr.Keating was to blame”.
I’m not standing up for what cameron did cause it was fucked up but charlie did the same thing but every cameron hater glazes charlie for it. Charlie ratted first because his ego is just as tall as pitts but no one is mad at him right? Why is no one mad?? Cause Charlie made a red lighting bolt on his chest with lipstick and is the edgy bad boy.
I’m not saying I hate Charile but he isn’t the most perfect person ever, just like all the characters, they all have flaws because peter weir wanted them to be real. That’s why we feel so drawn to every character because even though they aren’t real they feel real by having flaws and character traits that connect with audiences of all ages.
Throughout the movie Cameron is again pushed into a box set by his friends, his only friends. Cameron likes school and learning but his friends see it as torture so to break free from this they write poetry, act, rebel but cameron doesn’t like that. That’s just not his way of seizing the day but peer pressure is real and he forces himself to be comfortable with it. He says he likes the clarinet, he gets laughed at, he joins in on scary story time, and they dismiss him off telling him they already heard it.
Everything is an attack on cameron because he doesn’t like what everyone else likes. When you get peer pressured into doing things repeatedly your peers who are pressuring you start to pick up on this and distance themselves from you because you are “different”. So cameron knows neil’s dad is shit but how would he know he is to blame for suicide? How would he know neil felt so strongly about acting and not just using it as a rebellion like Charlie? He wouldn’t because he could’ve never known with the barrier between him and the rest of the group.
From the 4/5 months they’ve known keating here’s what’s happened leading up to neil’s death:
-Knox sneaking out to go to parties and getting drunk af (another example of peer pressure)
-All of them sneaking out to go to the cave
-Neil going against his dads wishes which he has never done before
-Charile gets more rebellious
-Charlie gets threatened with expulsion
-Cameron gets made fun of more but Todd the new comer gets treated with respect
-Neil fakes a letter from his dad
-Neil is happy at the play
-Neil is pronounced dead the next morning
Neil never acted out before. When he finally did by the guidance of Keating, he died. Which is not keatings fault! I believe from the moment Junior year started Neil was planning to die. That’s why he was so demandent on Todd speaking up for himself, Neil wanted someone else to enjoy life because he was done living it. For his last final months Neil had he did Seize the day by doing something he loves. He spent his last days happy and the only one to blame is society for making neil a victim to the subject of conformity .
Cameron is not to blame, he is victim as-well. Just like Todd, Charlie, Knox, Pitts, and Meeks. They all were subjected to some type of conformity, that’s the point of this movie. Break free from the ties society expects from you and live the way you want too.
Cameron is such a well written character and how could you hate a someone played by dylan kussman 😔🙏. Dylan is literally my father idk what you mean???

what instruments hq characters would play in a regular concert band setting (coming from an unbiased! fair! reasonable! flute player)
word count - 1,728 words
warnings - none besides band kid energy :( also no proofread
a/n - in honor of marching season starting again. thank god i'm never doing that again, but hopefully i can nail my upcoming audition!! i am NOT open to discussion and critiques btw my word is absolute law. (lol just jokes and if you have any suggestions to add pls let me know i will happily add them in)
Tumblr media
picc/flute - usually the best behaved kids (force of habit bc they sit next to the conductor so they have to be on their best behavior). for the most part pretty nice, but they definitely are the biggest gossipers...WILL talk abt anything and everything. from the weather to the crazy ex that your stand partner blocked but can't shut up abt. there's always someone in the section who just has everything in their bag - gum (which we can't even chew in band??), hand sanitizer, vaseline, aquaphor, lotion, etc. definitely the most blind and deaf group bc of how out of tune we always are, and how many ledger lines are in the music. usually chill for the most part, but there's always That One Player that is way to snotty and stuck up abt band like bro chill out u don't need to be so competitive. chaotic good.
SUGA and is able to talk some mad shit and is highkey deaf (same) but is a wonderful role model for the younger section members. SUNAAA this mf is always on his phone in rehearsal and gets in trouble for it,  shirabu💀💀 takes chair auditions way too seriously and side eyes his stand partner too much
clarinet - section that has the most amount of stereotypical "band kids" but honestly pretty nice. most of them are hard workers and studious? competition is pretty tough in such a huge section so they are kinda tryhards. not too introverted but not like super loud or anything. a really "in the middle" section i would say, and def one of the most diverse sections bc it has so many members in it. firsts definitely are  always on their a game in terms of music and academics, but the further back u go in rows, the more chatty and chaotic they get. neutral good.
tsukki and yams omfg..tsukki is def clarinet 1 and yams clarinet 2 (but grinding so he can sit next to tsukki next year), maddog (ok doesn't really fit at all but i think it's hilarious imaging him as clarinet), yahaba (which does fit), kunimi, futakuchi (and those 4 whisper so much in the back), aran BUT i feel like he plays sax for jazz and prefers sax more, would play sax in concert too but competition is STIFF so just plays clarinet, kenma and he's in the back and super unassuming, always on his phone playing a game in between reps, komori and he's first clarinet and is perfect and the conductor loves him
double reeds (bassoon, oboe, eng horn, i'm putting bari clarinet in here except i don't think it's technically a double reed) - SOOO KIND AND STUDIOUS AND PRETTY. everyone wants to be them or their friend. i've literally never had a band interaction with anyone from the double reed section. always appreciate any gossip, and since they're friends with so many ppl, they kinda know everyone's business but they keep it to themselves. also highkey cracked at their instruments for no reason like there is not that much competition in a regular band, they're just sexy like that. lawful good.
asahi (bari clari) (also always underestimates how much air it takes to play contra and hates it), YACCHI (oboe), kiyoko (bassoon, sits next to yacchi and they're constantly exchanging gossip with each other in between reps), akaashi (bassoon, literally in the center of band and everyone can look at him and get a crush)
saxes (soprano [does anyone even like playing the metal clarinet let's be fr], alto, tenor, bari) - ok if you're good at the sax you're INSANELY. GOOD. it's so competitive bc there's so few spots in a concert band setting so if you want to get a high chair placement u gotta grind ur ass off. definitely some of the biggest try hards in the band, even moreso than the clarinets, and also academically they're like always in all advanced classes and shit for no reason. lowkey kind of cocky and full of themselves but u kinda let it slide bc they're so insanely good it's kinda warranted yk? pretty introverted and keep to themselves, but never exclude anyone. lowkey has the most rizz out of all the sections, but they don't try to be charismatic they just kinda are and everyone kinda hates them for it. lawful neutral.
kuroo...he gives such alto vibes sorry for the slander. i feel like yaku too bc they're constantly competing with each other? maybe bari? lol the instrument is like as big as him. kai is the chill tenor in between them that try's to break up verbal fights before the conductor notices, DAISHOU him and kuroo has been competing for first chair since 5th grade
trumpet - convinced they're the main character (they have repeating staccato 8th notes) like PLS lower ur volume. kinda cocky but this time it isn't warranted bc they're not as good as the saxes. firsts are CONSTANTLY trying to see who can go higher during warmups and it pisses everyone else off but we all reluctantly tolerate their presence...bc when they DO have the melody they kinda slay (albeit a bit sharp). pretty extroverted and nice with such enjoyable energy like u kinda can't help but become friends with at least some of them. when the rest of the concert band first saw the jazz band play, everyone kind of got a small crush on the lead trumpet player bc he was that good (hahah not me nooo never aha). neutral chaotic.
hinata...except this time he is the main character. inuoka, miya atsumu, oikawa!! technically he should be in the next section with kags, but oikawa fits trump jazz lead too much (also never made all state...sorry not sorry), mattsun and hanamaki and they're the biggest chatters (the conductor hates them), BOKUTO he's so loud but we all love him, hoshiumi
french horn - the It Girl of the band. horn is one of if not the hardest wind instruments to learn. a sharp learning curve fs, but a good horn player is GOOD. insanely freaking good. and also critical in any concert setting and has such a beautiful sound when played correctly. when not played well though...since there's so few horns already in a band, it's really hard to let others in ur section carry you. so if you're not good...everyone can kinda tell. thing is, saxophone is different bc there's so few chairs, but it's at least an easy instrument to play (hard to get good at tho) but horn is just hard period. get grinding or face the embarrassment. tbh kinda secluded, really only talked amongst themselves and the saxes bc they had similar parts and sat next to each other. i never once interacted with a horn player. neutral good.
kageyama (except he's good duh), sakusa (also very good), hirugami (he never looks happy whenever he gets solos tho and nobody knows why..?)
trombone - oh dear...ok i lied THEYRE the most band kid-ish of all the band kids, not the clarinets. pretty nice and funny, loud and never shut up like the trumpets and they get away with it bc they sit in the last row. not bad people at all, they just kinda act like ur younger siblings sometimes, not like kids in ur age range. not as charming as the trumpets, but instead have this childlike innocence to them so u just wanna pinch their cheeks or something. pitch is a huge issue, and anything rhythmically harder than like a couple 16ths and they can't tongue it clearly, but u applaud them for trying. chaotic chaotic.
koganegawa, TANAKA AND NOYA AS STAND PARTNERS OMG they're constantly disturbing the rehearsals bc they laugh too loud, yamamoto, lev
euph/tuba - technically 2 different instruments i know, but i'm running out of ideas and combined their section total is like 5 ok cut me some slack. actually so sweet and nice, they have no enemies like the double reeds, but this time they're like isolated in the back row :( so they kinda only talk with each other and sometimes the trombones. even tho they also sit in the back the most they do is whisper quietly amongst themselves, WHEN THE CONDUCTOR ISNT TALKING TO THEM. bless their hearts. theyre always in the background of every piece, and a regular audience member doesn't really notice them, but anyone who plays an instrument knows they're the most important part of the band. always the root of the chord, almost always keep the pulse with quarter or eighths, everyone tunes to the tuba. classic, standard, we love them. i fear one day they're going to absolutely snap and go crazy tho bc at the end of the day, they're still a brass player sitting all the way in the back, which is a lawless land. lawful chaotic.
daichi, ushijima, kita, aone (it's just the unassuming defensive players lol), miya osamu!! always ready to fight his brother right before a concert
percussion - what...goes on back there? nobody's quite sure, except for them and the occasional trombone player sitting in front of them. they're constantly running around trying to get to their instruments in time, and they always make it somehow. always the tightest sections rhythmically, i swear they can sight read anything perfectly and have it performance ready by the 2nd day. friendly with everyone else, but they're lowkey like a cult bc they spend so much time together with drumline camp, band camp, etc. by far the crowd favorite during parades, pep rallies, etc. but they never let it go to their heads. always have matching section shirts and hats and whatnot on dress up days and it's so cute, but their hats are always crazy like giant squid plushies and ikea bucket hats and whatnot. neutral chaotic everyoje loves them for it.
tendou (he has the squid hat) (also nobody believes him when he says he doesn't know how to read rhythms but it's true, he highkey doesn't know how to subdivide and guesses everything but is always pretty accurate), iwa (he goes shirtless in band camp and everyone is audibly drooling), semi (on drumkit for jazz but also does concert to keep his rhythms sharp), ofc jack of all trades, master of none konoha since u have to play so many different instruments

a collection of things I notice upon a rewatching of dead poets society + some analysis if I feel like it
first shot is on a painting of past students - highlights the school's focus on tradition (also the boys do kinda look similar to the poets so that's interesting)
cameron holds the tradition banner, knox holds discipline, neil holds excellence - does what banners they hold and the fact its only these three say something? perhaps
not cameron pointing out buildings to his parents like a tour guide lmao
cameron watching from the opposite room as mr perry talks to neil - okay headcanon but I think cameron sees a bit of himself in this interaction. you cannot tell me he doesn't look at mr perry and just think, even just a little, of the adults in his own life pushing him for more and more accomplishments
I feel like those shots of a massive flock of birds flying away says something but idk what
keating does not give them a seating plan I think do they just choose to sit like that? away from their friends? huh? (idk how american schools work especially in 1959 forgive me)
however stick does sit next to cameron and also can be seen around cameron relatively often so I headcanon they're friends
the banner for tradition isn't in shot when keating leads them outside but the rest are - hints at keating being the breakaway from tradition
charlie just standing behind the rest of the group with his foot on the chair - his lack of respect for authority (even keating rn)
friendly reminder that neil is shown whenever the topic of death comes uo
lmao cameron just judging keating's whispering (I would too, icl)
todd has a picture of like a rowboat pinned up beside his desk and yk that cut scene about how he would prefer rowing so uh yeah!
cameron writing and ripping with a ruler says a lot about him (also using a ruler to rip a book page out will only make it worse cameron wtf are you doing)
love how neil immediately stops and turns around when hager tells them to be faster
charlie doesn't wear the typical pyjamas I think and again, defiance
again the image of the old students - breaking tradition!
not something interesting but the running through the forest scene brings me so much joy
neil goes back to his desk after standing on keatings and spins his pen in his left hand and it may be people just spin pens with their non dominant hand but I choose to interpret this as left handed neil (however the way his things are laid out suggests left handedness to me) (keep in mind I am right handed)
neil keeps that blanket over his shoulders when he's excited about the play and drops it when todd mentions his dad and does that say something
charlie already has the drums before cameron comes in lmao
also is that stick I see joining in (more evidence for the cameron-stick friendship theory)
no see when cameron looks upset after charlie says he hated the clarinet and the poets laugh this is one of the moments that he will remember when they're asking about the dead poets society and the rest won't remember but he will
love anderperry just being gay in the background
stick is short (like me)
aww we love the cave making an appearance when charlie brings the girls
when charlie get the phone call from god he appears to be sitting away from his friends (to not get caught, probably)
when keating tells the class to keep their heads about them you can see cameron saying something like “yes sir” and only when everyone else says “yes captain” does he look around and say captain and that's just more stuff about he sees keating
“I don't care if the world comes to an end tomorrow night you are through with that play” - ow this hits after neil’s death
neil shaking out his hands before he speaks to keating because its nervous
I think it says a lot when you see neil is a lot more comfortable and loose around keating than his own father
also something about that scene gives the idea before neil was crying even before he went to keating like just something about how he acts and talks
that reminds me there are quite a few moments in this film where imo it looks like neil is about to cry but he doesn't and that also says something about his character
keating telling neil about he loves teaching and I bet neil was thinking about how he loved acting
neil is usually quite confident but like he's so unsure with his words in these few scenes
also neil lying to keating and he's fidgeting and also that tiny moment where he acts like his dad and also also I think keating knows he's lying
todd trying to mess up camerons hair and now I'm so proud of how confident he is when he's with his friends
oh I love the poets (especially meeks) just staring at knox and chris in utter awe
hang on why are cameron and charlie sitting next to each other in the play I thought they didn't like each other (chameron propaganda time)
you can see neil isn't smiling by the time the curtain closes and dammit I hate mr perry even more for ruining this one moment for his son
but then when he sees the poets clapping for him and the audience covers his dad you see him smiling again and then his dad comes to ruin that too
neil standing on that stage smiling one last time until he has to go to his dad
the fact that the perrys have a black car is reminiscent of a funeral car or something and uh more foreshadowing to neil’s death
the window motif thing is pretty well known but I'd like to add the fact that we see neil looking out the window of the car at his friends and the theatre right before mr perry makes him leave
also todd in the background watching neil go and keating also watching without words and I'm pretty sure he knows he'll never see neil again one way or another
the fact that neil brought his crown home suggests he made it himself (or maybe he stole it but anyway) and that he loved the play enough to put so much effort in it and ow
I think the fact that neil reacts so much to his father telling him he has to be a doctor is because neil didn't know. like his father just told him this out of the blue and expected neil to go along no matter what
the pyjamas on neil’s bed don't remotely match the ones at welton - something about neil getting pulled away in every aspect of his life, something about even his clothes being chosen for him
neil’s so still in these last few scenes too and it's such a contrast from how much he moves earlier in the film
I've talked about this before but why is cameron not there when they tell todd about neil’s death. like he's probably awake you can see light behind the window above their door but charlie chose not to and I don't know why because they seem to be on decent enough terms
todd running towards the docks is so damn sad when you remember that one cut scene
neil’s things are still there in his desk :(
charlie refusing to sing - he's mourning neil, definitely, but he refuses to do it the way the school wants (and ignore the reality of neil’s death)
also cameron is next to charlie again WHY WAS HE NOT TOLD SOMEONE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME
hey remember when I said earlier that the tradition banner wasn't in shot? guess what's the only banner in shot now that neil’s dead and keating’s done for
when mcallister takes the class outside they're walking on a path with many footsteps. it's an effort, but it's not what keating did
EVEN HOPKINS STOOD lets goooo
the triumphant music is great and yes I am mourning the two desks left empty but triumphant music
this movie will never make me not cry
fun fact we have the names for almost everyone in the class i believe, which you can find in the credits along with their actor, and I'm pretty sure the actors got to pick the names
also in the og script one of the students has the surname priske (which could be headcanon, you pick which ig) and one is called richard watson (I believe there is one name missing in the credits so this is my headcanon for that one)
sorry for how long it is lmao

guy who played clarinet anon at the other guy who played clarinet: you are so right bronnie would be the fan favourite of the whole section… personally i see her as someone who plays second part more because when i was in band the second/third players were super nice and chill and the first players were those who are loud+annoying+never practiced+lowkey meanies… but that’s just my experience hehe.
do we all hate first chair clarinets here…..

MCSR Marching Band AU
back at it again with wildly specific au's based on the shit i do irl. i've been in band for 10 years (jesus) and marching band for 7- being the tenor sax section leader both my senior year of high school and now my senior year of college.
i had some help with this one from @s3er :3
more under the cut! warning there's a LOT
Nerdi is the drum major! He's in charge of conducting the whole band and specifically helping the center snare keep a steady tempo. He's reliable to a fault and is able to keep his conducting at the proper pace pretty much no matter what (or no matter how hard some of the band members try to distract him). He can also march pretty well on the odd occasion he's not conducting (usually during pregame) and he can do some pretty cool mace tricks. His backbend with the mace is practically all the way to the ground.
Fein is the center snare. He works directly with Nerdi to keep a steady tempo. Drum major and center snare are the structural support of the entire band- without either of them tempo tends to fall apart and the show follows quickly after. He's drumline captain as well and can competently play any drumline instrument (and a good fair few wind instruments as well). One of the band members who does DCI (crazy intense travel drum corps) in the summer.
Guard Section Courtesy of @s3er !
Cube's main equipment would be rifle but he'd also be extremely good at flag, sabre, and dance. he just happens to be the best at rifle out of all of those. during marching band season he would probably be at the front a lot of the times. his consistency, versatility, and experience would make him a very good captain and during practices he would probably often get stuck teaching freshman flagline because he already mastered his own choreo+movement and he'd probably be very good at that as well even if he found it frustrating
Fruit likes flag the most because it's big and colorful and fun :] but since he's so good at weapon that's usually the line he gets placed in during marching season. winterguard has more leeway, since everything is smaller he's more able to do his own thing. for guard, marching season can be very "we know what we want the guard to do this season, just do that" while winterguard is more like, if fruit comes up with some wacky trick they can absolutely find a way to fit that in the show. if there's a dance/gymnastics solo though that would go to him
Zye is a sabre demon and probably a captain just because of how much experience he has but he would do the least amount of captain shit. except that he would be very good at instantly spotting how someone is doing choreo wrong and or why they can't get something and helping them. he makes sabre look easy, like that shit is made of plastic and not cold hard death metal that wants to break all your toes and i hate him for that. he picks up on everything extremely quickly and can make anything looks fluid and effortless
everyone say tysm to s3er for these blurbs! the guard insight was def needed and also super interesting to hear about!
Fulham is a clarinet player- specifically bass clarinet if the band decides to march them and section leader (bass clarinet is the birch tree of instruments just look at it). Absolute GOD at drill- both teaching and marching himself. Everyone in the clarinet section is never an inch off of their dot (assigned spot on the field) and they always take the exact correct path w/ the exact step size between positions. He also helps the directors write the show drill on occasion.
Couri plays mellophone! Mello's have a reputation in some bands for not being heard- Couri is NOT one of those mellos. Not only does he play loud, but he plays WELL and if a show has a mello solo it's going to him. He practices the most out of the whole band and if you're looking for him before or after school you'll either find him on the field or in a practice room. Does DCI with Fein- they go out for the same corps.
Silverr plays baritone. Also a DCI participant but he's usually in an opposing corps to Fein and Couri. Basically all of the baritones I know are super chill (I share a section with them in my marching band). Silverr can play a couple of instruments so his marching choice can vary from year to year- baritone is the usual pick though. He's one of the stronger bassline players in the band and the directors try to have him towards the center of the field so he's easily heard by not only the audience but also the other band members. Always has his music memorized early enough that his section can listen to him play for a solid guide.
Reign plays alto and tenor sax. He prefers alto but if the band is lacking in tenors he can switch over. He can also play trumpet and that's his instrument in his drum corps with Silverr (because they don't take woodwinds). Altos have a reputation for being outgoing and he enables the stereotype. His section finds him easier to talk to than the "official" alto section leaders so he ends up fielding a lot of the underclassmen's questions. He pretty frequently gets solos if the altos are ever given any. (side bar for a cool alto part listen to the Miya Twins theme from haikyuu. The bassline underneath is supposed to represent the consistent and collected twin while the alto part represents the more experimental and wild twin. Sound familiar?)
Dylqn plays trombone. Has hit someone with his slide on a move before, will hit someone with his slide on a move again. The type to make a joke during an attention pose and get the people around him in trouble for laughing. That being said he's an extremely talented musician and marcher. The directors can almost never get mad at him for goofing around because when he locks in he's absolutely a pillar of the entire band. The thing about him being good though is it means it was absolutely on purpose when he hit Fein with his slide.
Mime plays tenor sax (WOOOOOO BEST INSTRUMENT) and is a section leader. His main skill is choregraphing out complex moves and he helps the directors/fulham with drill. When I say complex moves I mean like this shit where everyones walking through each other and one wrong step equals a collision (5:18 in this video. note this is DCI and not a regular marching band so this whole show is a lot more than the average band is gonna do). Not only is Mime good at running through them himself, he can explain the moves well enough that everyone is able to make the move safely. He plays bassoon outside of marching band.
Poundy plays sousaphone. Loves to brag about playing the biggest instrument on the field which is lowkey fair because sousi is HARD. That being said he has full bowled Couri over at least once. No instruments or people were hurt amazingly but the argument that happened afterwards was generational. Poundy is one of the people that has no trouble making friends outside of his section as he's super easy to talk to. Some people tend to stay in their section at band but he is very much so not one of these people. He also plays LOUD which is important for a bassline player.
that's all ive thought through for now but ill likely have some more thoughts on this in the future. my ass is STRUGGLING with fulham's d&d mini right now but trust it's in the works (his hair and glasses are not really in heroforge so im having to improvise to make it not look weird). hope yall enjoyed me yapping for the length of a feinberg post event essay

Eddie Roundtree x Fem!Reader: Dating the Dunne Sister
You're Billy's twin and Graham's sister:)
Y/N = Your First Name Dunne = Your Last Name Narrator = Julia Dunne (but Narrator for sake of the story)
**** the timeline is going to seem weird lol but I'm just writing what I want to write lol
Tumblr media
Narrator: Could you just introduce yourself, Auntie? Y/N: Of course, sweetie. Hi, I'm Y/N! I'm Billy's twin sister and Graham's older sister. Narrator: Could you tell us what growing up with Graham and Billy was like? Y/N: Sure, I can. My mother, Marlene, was kind and protective of us. She wanted us to have a good life and at first, she hated that my brothers wanted to pursue music. She didn't see the point in it. But when she heard them and saw their love of music, she was all in and even would make band t-shirts for all the moms. Hank, well, Billy idolized him. I thought he was cool, but something felt off about him. He disappeared and it didn't really matter to me because my mom raised me not him. I was fine. Billy was always controlling and stubborn, but I still loved him. He took over Graham's band by his third practice with them. I listened to them occasionally and they were talented. Eddie, Warren, and Chuck only saw me as Billy's twin so they stayed away from me. They thought that if they even talked to me, Billy would be mad. I once tried to audition for their band and Billy said they had no need for a female voice then said that my style of music didn't fit with them. Graham told me once that if it was his band, he would've let me stay. They were annoying and I spent many of my teenage years mad at them for not letting me join. Eddie: For the record, I do think we should have let Y/N join the band. She was a talented singer and she had this effortless groove as she sang. It made you want to keep watching and never stop. Billy: I don't regret telling Y/N she couldn't join. Not at all.
Narrator: So, could you tell everyone how you were the reason that the Six got their record deal? Y/N: I don't think I would say that. Narrator: Everyone else did. Y/N: Oh well then, that's really nice of them... So I moved to Los Angeles right when I graduated high school for college. I wanted to move away from my family and this California college offered me financial aid to afford tuition. So I studied business management and got a real estate license for California. As I studied for my degree, I needed a creative outlet, so I joined a band with my friends and we had small gigs at bars or on campus every weekend. I usually sang or played guitar, but I could also play the keyboard and clarinet if we needed it. The other members of the band were 3 girls that I met in my astronomy class. We became instant friends and named our group the Sista Sirens because we loved Greek mythology. We wanted to explore different genres, so we played a bit of everything! We sang rock covers or popular songs at bars when it started getting crowded to keep people interested or tipping. It worked well in our favor and we were discovered by Teddy Price of Runner Records. He signed us and we started creating an album. That's around when my brothers told me they were moving to Los Angeles to pursue their music. I hadn't even told them that I had started pursuing music because well, I was nervous. So they showed up and they started playing some gigs. I would attend a few and sit front row cheering them on. I told Teddy that they had real potential and a new sound, which intrigued him. I sent Teddy their way and they managed to get an audition. Narrator: How did they take the news that you pursued music and had a record deal? Y/N: They were proud and jealous. When they found out, they were calm and cool. Later, Billy was upset that I was stealing his thunder and about how he wanted to work for his record deal not get it because of me. I didn't think it mattered because the audition didn't automatically mean a record deal, he still had to win Teddy over. I was just helping him get his foot in the door and this audition meant he could get closer to living his dream of performing music live for big crowds. The rest of the band had no problem with me helping them out.
Your plan to reveal your record deal and music career was simple: Before the audition started for the Dunne Brothers, the Sista Sirens would be rehearsing and you'd play your music as they walked in to surprise them. You hear Teddy from the sound booth exclaim, "Ok, so we have the Dunne Brothers standing with me in the booth now. Sista Sirens, let's hear track one from the top to show this group the talent of Runner Records." You count off your band and play your first song. Teddy says, "Amazing job, that's it for your rehearsal today. I think we have a solid take here. Y/N, come on back!" You place your guitar in its case and carry it into the sound booth, where your siblings stare at you with their mouths wide open in shock. You laugh, settle your case next to you, and say, "Hi, brothers." Billy moves forward to hug you first then Graham. Warren then hugs you followed by Eddie. Eddie says as he hugs you, "I suppose we have you to thank for this. Thank you." You nod and smile. At least someone knew to be thankful. You notice a girl standing with them and ask, "Hi, I'm Y/N Dunne. What's your name?" She answers, "Karen Sirko and I play the keyboard. Nice to meet another Dunne." Teddy says, "You know, Y/N talked you all up. She said you had real potential and a new sound. She's in one of my most promising bands, so I can't wait to hear your sound. You have her to thank for this and I only heard one thank you from your lot. This is not a good start." You laugh and say, "And it wasn't from my brothers, so thank you, Eddie. And brothers, I love you." You notice Eddie blush and smile. Warren shoves him and you laugh. You love this band even if they can be difficult.
While the Dunne Brothers set up, you tell Teddy, "Their name is confusing, don't you think?" He laughs and says, "It is. Two of them are Dunnes and the rest are not. By the way, why didn't you join the band?" You answer, "I actually auditioned, but Billy said I couldn't join. He didn't want a female voice and he thought my music didn't match with the music he wanted to play. I also don't like their leadership styles... and I don't think siblings plus work are a good combo." He laughs and asks, "Good to know. Are you staying?" You answer, "No, the Sista Sirens have an interview later today. I have to get ready and soundcheck. You can call me to either thank me or scold me on how I was wrong later though." He laughs and you both hug.
Narrator: I guess we know that Teddy signed them. Y/N: We do and we know that they changed their name. Narrator: How were the early days of the Six for you? And was your band friends with them? Y/N: My band was like family to the Six and it made sense because 2 members were my literal family. I would go to most of their parties because my band loved their parties and they loved their house. We stayed in a 4 person apartment to save a little bit of money. Parties were a great excuse to see Camila who was so sweet and she felt like the sister I never had. I loved hanging out with her at parties. The Six went on tour with their first album and I was so proud of them. I got to see one of their shows, but my band also was touring around the same time, so I didn't get to support them as much as I would have liked. They saw one of my band's shows too and they seemed to enjoy themselves. But then during the tour, Graham called me and said that Billy went to rehab. It terrified me that I didn't know how bad he was doing and I wanted him to be okay. We had recently disagreed about touring before he left because he wanted me to make sure I was safe. We may have disagreed from time to time, but we were looking out for each other. I love my brothers. I didn't talk to most of the Six for the rest of my tour. But then they started recording album number two and I started recording album number two. Narrator: What did you think of Daisy Jones? Y/N: I had met Daisy in the studio before and she was a feature on one of our songs. We wrote a song about loneliness together, it was somber and beautiful. Teddy cried the first time he heard it live. Daisy and I celebrated at a wine bar. It was great. Narrator: So you were a fan of Daisy? Y/N: Yeah she was crazy talented. I do also think she was wild and I didn't go out with her a lot for that reason. She stressed me out because I wanted to look out for her and she just wanted to have fun. Narrator: Isn't this around when you and Eddie started dating? Y/N: Haha yeah as they were recording album number two, they partied a lot and at their Halloween party, that's when I started dating Eddie. The Halloween party of 1975 thrown by the Six was one for the books, haha.
Your band had decided to dress up as sirens with turquoise outfits, horns, and lots of dramatic make-up. It was your best costume yet.
You pull up to the party with 2 packs of beer and a pack of soda. You walk in and you feel the eyes on your band. You knew it was good, but that good? Idk haha!
You see Billy and Camila matching causing you to smile. They see you, hug you, and Camila says, "Wow you are all stunning. You also brought drinks, thank you." You reply, "I did, yes. Billy, you might want to get some soda before it's all taken." He smiles and thanks you.
Camila leads you over to Karen and Karen gasps at your costume. Karen exclaims, "Oh wow, this costume is amazing. You look so gorgeous." You thank her and say, "I love your costume as well." Camila says, "We have something we want to ask you." You ask, "Ok what?" Karen asks, "What do you think of Eddie? Like would you date him?" You laugh and ask, "I do think he's attractive and I would date him, but my brothers would freak out." Camila smiles and says, "This is too good to be true. Come on, he like likes you, girl. He talked about your band all tour and would make the driver turn up the radio if your music came on. He kind of annoyed your brothers by talking about your achievements... Look, he's with Warren, Graham, and some random girls right now. You and Karen should go over to interrupt. Graham won't care about what you're up to if Karen is there, trust me. He likes her too much." You laugh and ask, "And Karen, what do you think of my brother?" Karen answers, "He's cute, but I'm not looking for a relationship and I think he is." You nod and reply, "Well just let him down easy then." Karen nods.
You and Karen strut over to the crew. You noticed Eddie's eyes on yours as soon as you started walking in his direction and they never leave. Warren exclaims, "Oh wow, all hail Y/N and Karen! Look at these sexy costumes! Who did you wear them for?" You wink at Eddie before answering, "Wouldn't you like to know." Karen answers, "Maybe we wore them for ourselves because we're hot and we know it." Warren whistles and laughs. The two girls tug at the boys to dance and the only one who caves to them is Warren, so they walk off together. Graham asks, "How are you, Y/N?" You answer, "I'm doing great. My band brought your favorite beer, so if you want it before it's out, get to the fridge quick." Graham smiles, kisses you on the cheek, and says, "You're my favorite sibling ever." Graham rushes off and Karen says, "I'm going with him," before she runs off.
You look at Eddie and say, "I like your costume, Eddie." He replies, "Oh this old thing, it's nothing... Yours is wow. I mean, it's sexy and shiny and beautiful." You reply, "Thanks, Eddie. You're sexy and beautiful too." He laughs and you hear your name being called by Billy. You sigh and say, "Sorry Eddie, Billy is calling and we know not to leave him waiting. Can we talk later?" He nods and answers, "Yeah, find me later even if I'm with someone else. I'll choose you to spend the rest of my night with." You feel yourself blush and you say, "Oh... wow okay." He smiles and you rush off towards Billy.
Billy introduces you to some random guy and the guy is sleazy. WTF was Billy doing? Did he just not want you with Eddie? UGH! The guy suggested that we leave together, but you said no. He then tried to get closer to you to kiss you, but you also said no. You notice his fists clench and you run over to where Eddie is talking with a girl. Eddie faces away from the girl, stares at you, and you ask, "Can I kiss you? I need to kiss someone right now and I'd prefer it if it is you. I'll tell you why after." Eddie nods and you pull him down into a kiss. Eddie kisses you back and wraps his arm around your waist. When you pull away from the kiss, you exclaim, "Sorry about that, Billy called me away from you to set me up with someone random. He set me up with this jerk who tried to kiss me and make me leave with him even when I refused. I ran away and found you. I hoped that he would leave me alone if I was with someone else." Eddie replies, "For good measure, let's kiss again." You kiss him again and then Eddie asks, "Okay, what did he look like? I'm throwing him out of this party. You disrespect my girl, you're done. And I'm sure if we tell your brothers, they'll approve of me tossing him out." You inform Eddie and point out the disgusting guy. Then, you find Billy with Camila and tell them about the situation. Billy apologizes for setting you up with that random guy, and Camila holds you tight in a hug. The boys then go off to throw the guy out. Camila says, "Billy stormed off when he saw you alone with Eddie. I don't get why he hates him so much. They used to be best friends. I'm sorry that he did that tonight." You reply, "I'm just glad I could get away and that I found Eddie so fast." She replies. "Me too."
Billy and Eddie return. Billy apologizes again and you say, "Look, I'm just glad I got away from him before something worse happened to me. And I'm glad I found Eddie. It all worked out fine, but I think I need a drink. So if you'll excuse me, I'm going to make one." You walk off to the kitchen and start mixing liquors. You see Eddie leaning against the kitchen counter near your supplies, so you ask, "Eddie, do you want a drink too?" He answers, "Sure since you offered." You stand next to him mixing up your drinks and you feel his gaze on you. You hand him his drink and say, "Thank you for saving me tonight, Eddie." He replies, "Of course, Y/N. I'll always be there to protect you or save you from anything and everyone." You smile, cheer your glasses, and sip. Eddie says, "Holy sh** you can make a good drink. When did you learn this?" You answer, "Haha I made some for friends in college. I think making drinks is fun." He leads you back outside and you both sit next to each other. You both talk the rest of the night :)
When you go inside, you find 2 members of your band cuddling asleep on the couch and Graham tells you that the other one is with Warren. Karen pulls Graham away to help her and you exclaim, "Ok so I either wake up my band and anger them or I stay here tonight then we leave tomorrow morning." Eddie says, "Don't risk their anger. You should stay with me. I promise I won't steal all of the sheets." You smirk, place your hands on his chest, and say, "Ok, but I need something to sleep in unless you want me to sleep naked tonight." He smirks and says, "I wouldn't mind one bit, follow me."
You go back to Eddie's room and Eddie exclaims, "I really really like you. I don't want to force you have sex to have somewhere to sleep tonight. We don't have to if you don't want to." You cup his face gently and ask, "Do you want to?" He puts his arm gently around your waist and answers, "What I want is not relevant." You reply, "But sex is about two people wanting it, so I think what you want is entirely too relevant." He smiles and says, "You were always the most clever Dunne, weren't you?" You answer, "Yeah, and if you want to see how clever I am in bed, then I suggest you get to undressing."
The next morning, you feel light pouring into your eyes and you flip over only coming face to face with Eddie. Eddie is smiling softly at you and you say, "Good morning." He replies, "Your morning voice is hot. Kiss me." You kiss him gently and say, "So is yours." He says, "I don't want this one night to be it. I want to take you out on dates and be your boyfriend." You reply, "I would like that very much, Eddie. You kind of told me you liked me last night, so I had hoped we could go on a date." He asks, "Did you say you liked me?" You answer, "I didn't, but I think I showed you last night how much I care about you... I really like you Eddie Roundtree and I think you're the sexiest bass player I know." He smirks and says, "Yeah... well you're the sexiest lead singer I know." You smile and say, "Yeah, I mean if you found my brother hot and just did this to get him jealous, then we'd have a problem." He laughs and says, "I most certainly am only into one girl and she is named Y/N Dunne." You smile and kiss him.
After showering and putting last night's clothes on, you and Eddie go out to breakfast. Everyone else is there and they just stare at you. Warren says, "Nice of you to finally join us, sex demons." Graham slaps him and says, "Ew that is my sister." You sit next to Camila who you lean against and she hands you a plate of pancakes that you gladly eat. Eddie sits next to you on your other side and barely talks.
After breakfast, Eddie walks you out to your car and you ask, "Hey, are you doing okay? You weren't as talkative at breakfast." He answers, "Yeah I just... I don't want your brothers to think I'm using you for sex or something. I want them to know I care about you a lot and we're not sex demons." You smile and say, "Then tell them that you seriously like me, just maybe leave out the sex demon comment. I don't think they like hearing about my sex life. I'm sure they'll approve and even if they don't, screw them and take me out." He smiles and says, "Anything for you, Y/N. I'll try talking with them and I'll call you after I do so we can schedule our first date." You kiss him and say, "Great, I look forward to hearing from you."
Narrator: Did Billy and Graham approve? Y/N: Graham immediately did. He said I was a grown-up who could make their own decisions and he knew Eddie before Billy, so he stood up for him. Graham even said that Eddie had liked me for years and he just hid it really well. Billy is protective as I've said before, but he did approve of us. Eddie confessing his feelings to Billy meant a lot to Billy and he trusted Eddie with me more than before. Billy told me to be careful though and to not break his heart because it would break up his band. It was silly and I understood. Eddie: They did haha. When I went back in after saying bye to her, the whole band was bombarding me with questions about us. So I told them all to sit down and shut up so I could explain. I told them about my crush on Y/N that started when we were younger and grew when I started listening to her music. I told them how I was proud of her and wanted her to be treated like the Queen she was. Billy and Camila loved how I compared her to a Queen. Graham said he approved easily. Billy asked me more questions about my intentions before telling me that he was cool with us dating. Narrator: Honeycomb blew up and Daisy officially joined the band. Then your band was the opening act for the Daisy Jones & the Six's The Aurora Tour. Can you tell me how that happened? Y/N: My band was selling albums, but not like The Six. We were able to fill smaller venues pretty easily, but it worried Teddy. Teddy liked me and he said that he knew he could help us grow more. He said that if we opened for The Aurora Tour, part of the whole draw was seeing a Dunne perform and then 2 more. It could be a family show and show our family's talent. Billy, Graham, and I did a few interviews talking about how we all became musicians. We did a magazine cover promoting the tour and showing how close we were. It was great. I can't remember a time when we three were closer. Billy: It was great to bond with my siblings over music. We wrote and played a song together that the Sista Sirens released... You know, Y/N helped our band start out and we helped her band grow. It was nice to feel like I was repaying her for that audition with Teddy. Graham: It was great for us to work on a song together, just us three. Y/N was always the calm one who made sure everyone was heard. Billy had this genius songwriting brain that could string our ideas together flawlessly. I knew how to tie in instrumentals and tie it all together. It was one of my favorite songs I've helped to create. Narrator: And how was the Aurora Tour? Y/N: Insane in both good and bad ways. We played our first show in Los Angeles and the crowd was electric. It was amazing to be on tour with the band. We had lots of fun and many mistakes were made. Eddie and I were falling quickly for each other, which terrified us. We would do the awkward stare across the party wondering if we should confess our love to each other. It drove our friends insane. Narrator: What did the Sista Sirens do when the Chicago stadium show was done? Y/N: We knew it was the end and we embraced it. We played an unreleased track to gain some excitement over it and we played our hearts out. My band left on our bus with Eddie on it and we drove home. Eddie moved in with us for a while and he never left actually... we got married the next year. We now have a kid and we have jobs haha... the good life.
