Get involved with local politics now.
America's top goal must be to continue having free and fair elections. Those are run by your state and local governments.
Today is November 8th, 2024. You have 362 days until the 2025 state/local elections end. You have 726 days until the 2026 congressional midterm election ends.
#if you speak any second languages pls volunteer#a lot of the far right propaganda is targeting low information isolated communities#ive seen it in my neighborhood with the bukharians (even tho im ashki and the neighborhood is still primarily ashkenazi so its not swaying#numbers hard enough) and also in my husbands family's area specifically targeting fj chinese first gen older immigrants#its HORRIFYING how easily this is working on people#but if you have a water bottle thats empty i guess you can fill it with piss?#(i have two local politicians numbers on my phone cuz they want my husband to volunteer in fuzhounese specifically#cause HOLY FUCKING SHIT theres som drivel that spread around that community#people wanting their rights to own property while on a green card taken away.....based on lies that it doesnt mean /them/)

Bernie is wrong. He has always been wrong and is still wrong. The flaw in his theory is what he deems the “wealthy elite” versus what everyday Americans consider them to be. Voters don’t see all billionaires as the elites. They see college-educated liberals on the coasts, some of whom are billionaires, as elites.
Bernie-style populism didn’t land because billionaires figured out long ago they could undermine it by being socially right-wing, and the working class would forgive their wealth and privilege. That’s why this same demographic is willing to make it rain for grifters like Joel Osteen and Pat Robertson. That’s why they worship the wealthiest man on the planet like a God and consider him some real-life Tony Stark. People dismissed Donald Trump as a shameless attention-hungry New York oligarch until he called Mexicans rapists. Then he shot up to the top of the GOP primary polls. The working class didn’t think much of Elon Musk until he said “pronouns suck.” Then he became their hero. A scion of working-class Pennsylvania lost his US Senate seat last week to a hedge fund manager from Connecticut. West Virginia elected their richest man to the Senate after electing him governor – as a Democrat and later a Republican. Ohio tossed out their longtime Democratic senator, known for his strong support of labor rights, for – literally, no joke – a used-car salesman.
You can’t tell me the working class in America thinks being a billionaire alone is what makes one a “wealthy elite.” There are significant factors at play here Bernie is either oblivious to or purposely ignorant of.
In college, a professor once told me that Communism never succeeded in the United States because we are too religious and proud as a country. Religion, traditions, and culture were never widely discredited the way they were in Europe and Asia, where the clergy and nobility kept the bourgeoisie in figurative chains for centuries. The relative ease of social mobility made America unique compared to its Western counterparts. Historically, American progressivism has been focused on expanding social mobility – initially limited to only white men – to identity groups who had been denied it at the start: blacks, women, and immigrants. We have done it, with various amounts of success. While it may seem counterintuitive, Americans pride themselves in being the nation that pioneered the idea that wealth and status can be achieved through ingenuity and hard work and not just based on a lucky roll of the genetic dice, as it was in the Old World. It doesn’t mean we don’t have generational wealth in our country; we do, but since it isn’t the sole way to achieve wealth and power, we don’t care nearly as much about destroying all of it. Further, we will happily endorse it if the oligarchs and the aristocrats vow to promote and protect the social values we care about and the social hierarchy that benefits us.
It’s one of the reasons I believe Bernie could never beat Trump. If you ask working-class people what they want: an anti-immigrant, anti-intellectual billionaire or a Vermont socialist backed by kids from Harvard and UC Berkeley who hate our traditions and customs, the working class will always back the billionaire.
–Nick Rafter, "Bernie Sanders Can Take a Seat"

if you'll allow me to flaunt my psych minor for a second, I'd like to talk about epigenetics. there's studies that show that if you shock a rat when you let them taste a certain flavor, they will immediately become averse to that flavor. not surprising. what is surprising is that the rat's grandchildren, who have never been shocked when given that flavor, will also be averse to it and afraid of it and avoid it. there's also correlational evidence to suggest that the descendants of people who suffered through famine are more likely to put on weight and keep it on easier, even if they have never been through a famine themself.
trauma gets passed down. the kinds of trauma your parents, grandparents, and so-on lived through is still living in you. even if your parents were the most well-off, loving, best parents in the world, their trauma is still in you.
now if you'll allow me to take a slight turn here: there's a wild rabbit inside every jew.
my dad grew up being called "jew-boy." my mother had a coworker throw pennies at her at her job in the 2010s. and that's just two examples. they both grew up being harassed for being jewish. I wasn't. I'm incredibly lucky. the amount of antisemitism I've experienced in real life has been incredibly minimal. I didn't even hear anyone make an antisemitic joke in front of me until college.
and none of us were seriously persecuted. none of my grandparents were seriously persecuted. but even though nobody's broken my windows, nobody's beaten me in the streets, and I haven't been at any of those horrible protests in person, the fear is there. this deep seated, blood-pumping fear of the ancient jewish rabbit in me telling me to run. to run for dear life, to run as far as my legs can get me, as long as my heart keeps pumping and my lungs keep breathing.
we all feel this.
everyone feels this.
I called my mother yesterday. when I brought up this feeling she paused, and the silence said everything. she told me I wasn't alone. she feels it. my dad feels it. my brother feels it. my nana and grampa feel it. every jew you know, online, in real life, hell, even the famous ones, they feel it. the rabbit is inside us all, and the rabbit knows, because its brothers who didn't flee in the past were slaughtered.
the rabbit is leaping around my chest, all of our chests, chanting run run run run run run run.
I don't know if I can explain it to gentiles. I don't know if this makes sense to you. I don't know how to get across how crystal clear and deep and primal this fear is, and how much all of us are feeling the exact same fear, despite our different lives and different histories and the fact we're different people.
part of me wishes it didn't matter. that I didn't feel like I needed to get goyim to understand my specific cultural and ethnic experiences. because I don't feel like I need to deeply understand everyone else's. I am a white passing ashkenazi american jew, and I will never fully understand what it is like to be anything else. that doesn't dissolve my responsibility to educate myself and practice empathy, but it's ok. idk, maybe other people do desperately wish they could get people not in their specific group to deeply understand what it's like to be them. I imagine that feeling is universal. I guess, it's just like, the left is unified that everyone is a person, everyone is equal, everyone is human, except the jews. nobody is left out but the jews. everyone's word is believed, but the jews. and it makes me feel like I have to beg and plead with people to understand what being jewish means, because we're not included with everyone else. we're the enemy. and I want people to see we're not the enemy.
epigenetics.
#yeah..... my mom's /adhd/ symptoms have gotten so bad over the last two weeks it's kinda hard to hold a conversation w/ her#im beginning to think /bus of jews from nyc to the south for political reasons/ may be a bellwether on how bad things are about to get#(they stuck me in and my mom in an area that used to have a neo-nazi party cause if we do makeup in a certain way and straighten our hair w#don't look super jewish...literally placed 4 very ashki white jews to canvass for harris there)#it's astonishing watching other (not black) minority communities fall into this maga shit though#my inlaws really think it'll get them money..... make them rich....force me to ''serve them'' as a woman#and they independently fell down a typical antisemitic hole by themselves when they wouldn't get what they want#out of my mom and my family.......... so because im literally insane i have like.... PILES of whistleblower information on them in document#literally completely uneducated chinese motherfuckers came up with the ''because they're jewish they won't give us money cause they're#obsessed w/ money'' (ur the ones demanding millions of dollars to then do more crimes w/ and are angry my mom's lawyer#got your OWN SON out of your fraud scheme... FOR FUCKS SAKE I CAN GET U SENT BACK TO CHINA RIGHT NOW)#(they lied under oath to get their citizenship but voted for //mass deportations// make it make sense buddy)#but i have my canada paperwork partially done and i'm like......... the least prestigious career of any of the adults in my family#and im at a multinational manufacturer for major brands... that has NYC/NJ.. UK.. australia.. shanghai.. and hk offices#and the specific brand im on has portland.. nyc.. uk.. belgium.. netherlands.. and shanghai offices#my family had a bit of a ''if you want to be a graphic designer or architect u have to go to a public school... no loan#and you HAVE to take non degree classes at the other schools for cheap for connections.... and then you have to have the BEST portfolio to#get into a top company'' attitude as a failsafe... otherwise it was engineering or medical degree ONLY as an option.#during the 60s/70s shitshow my grandfather was a nuclear submarine engineer as his /failsafe/#(otherwise he worked in math/engineering education.... cause he hated the evil)#my aunt HAD TO go into law or medical from her family.... so my aunt and uncle can flee cuz she's a medical researcher (and she moved into#private now instead of gov funded over the last two years (and is all over pubmed lol) she can move and so can my aunt/uncle/cousins)#my mom's already sorted out her investment portfolio... moved shit into very safe multi national companies.... and can basically buy a visa#to any country globally.......... the jewish /get super educated/ is not ''pay it back'' like a lot of my friends are dealing with with#their parents wanting luxury goods and bags and shit.... it's ''make sure my kids and grandkids can flee''#(im pretty horrified seeing /pay it back/ cultures when im in an EXTREME /pay it forward/ culture)
