He spends his life in the all consuming awareness that he is particulary vulnerable; a disabled and chronicle ill creature from the Undercity which was raised by the laws of"the survival of the fittest ". And by all means he knows he is not the fittest, but he may be the smartest (not that he would allow himself such hybris).

Clawing his way up to the top against all odds, and now fighting not only for progress for society but desperately fighting for his very own life - if he doesn't take care of himself, if he doesn't stay strong, in control and on guard... To at least offer him the opportunity of a true safe space, that he doesn't have to do and carry it all alone by himself.

Don't expect him to emmediatly surrender control and lower his walls; there's so much more danger, pain to allow trust and vulnerability with a person who can't fully catch you.

But maybe with time, patience, gentle sensitivity and steadiness he will let you support some of his weight when you hug him.

Australia is planning on banning under 16s from using social media.

So so many reasons this is a stupid idea but the main one is actually, counter-intuitively, ppl's online safety.

Grown ups know how to cross the road safely because they are taught as children. They get to practice with parental supervision when they're kids.

You keep kids off social media then give them unlimited access at 16 and they'll have no frame of reference, no supervision, no working knowledge of how to fact check etc. If you actually want ppl to be safe online, make it part of education.

When discussing Animal Farm in English, talk about how to analyse ideas that sound good but actually result in inequality in practice and then pull up some questionable tweets.

When teaching kids how to research for their next essay, give them a fb rant and show them how to verify the info.

And then whoever is teaching them about personal responsibility should introduce them to tag blocking on tumblr. Show them how to curate their own experience.

Wow, that's a whole other repost to the one I thought it was going to be, lol. It's been reposted to TikTok once before, and I'm also not surprised this person got it from Reddit, where I doubt I was credited either.

At the end of the day I appreciate the heads up but there's nothing I can really do about it. The most helpful thing anyone can do is to leave comments on the reposts to provide credit,* because if artists ever try and comment then we pretty invariably get attacked. Don't be mean or aggressive, that just builds their animosity towards the artists, but I do think people respond positively to outside pressure to do the right thing 🤷

*Remember to make sure there's enough context - eg. something like "art by @ landegart on Twitter" is more searchable/useful than "artist is Landeg" to someone on TikTok who has no idea who I am haha

I don't really see any of that as 'praising her', more so just acknowledging the fact that she at least had the balls to step away from WT when she knew it wasn't working for her anymore, and the fact that she's managed to succeed separate from WT thus proving that it is, in fact, possible to succeed in this industry without relying on one single platform. I was more so just trying to praise the action in and of itself, not praising mongie for being a good person. I'm very aware of and have talked about her issues involving her racist opinions (the Vicky incident especially), I don't think her not being Rachel makes her a good person or good creator by default and that's not the point I was trying to get across. I'm not interested in continuing to read her work (like with LO I used to be a huge fan of Let's Play until it fell tf off in S3, then I found out about all the racism) but I can acknowledge the fact that she found a way to break out of the mould of Webtoons because I think that's something that should be talked about so that others can see it is possible to survive outside of Webtoons (not just for the aspiring creators, but also for the Originals creators who have spoken up about feeling 'stuck' with Webtoons because they don't feel like they can succeed without WT). It's just a shame it was, y'know, the person who has treated her fanbase like shit and acted out over very valid criticisms of her depictions of nonwhite characters. That's pretty much all I was trying to get across, it's not much more complicated than that lmao Weird analogy but it's like when you smell something cooking that smells really good and then you find out that it involves ingredients you can't stand LOL

But hey, you do raise a good point that highlighting the success of someone who's shitty towards their readers and how they write nonwhite characters is just giving them more press and recognition, so let's use this opportunity to highlight a not problematic creator who also found success in this industry while never once being an Originals creator - Alice Oseman! Heartstopper is wonderful and beautifully written especially in its characterizations and depictions of queer relationships and identities, the Netflix adaption is very warm and comforting to watch, and Alice herself seems like someone who I'd love to have coffee with if I ever had the chance. Go read/watch Heartstopper y'all , and remember to include non-Originals creators in your search for good comics to read <3 I'll probably make an actual post about Heartstopper sometime because I still need to watch the second season of the show and I'm sure I'll have plenty to gush about after I watch it just like I did with the first :' )

Yesterday I woke up with 74 notes which is more than I've ever seen in one log in!!!! I have to thank @sirianasims for taking the time to go ALL THE WAY BACK to my Geneva Island series (which is nuts cause i went sooo hard on that series lol!) and showed love from my Geneva Island origins all the way up to todays legacy.

i gotta say it’s so nice to know there are lots more people out there who still mask and are like actually still concerned about covid (and disease in general!) because almost everybody i know has completely stopped and doesn’t care about getting sick or transmitting disease and it is frustrating to say the very least! i know several people who don’t mask who has gotten ill multiple times just this semester and still don’t see an issue with it and still hang out with friends or go to classes. it’s good to know people like u r still out here continuing to advocate for masking and better precautions around diseases in public 💖💖💖
