Man, I went into the Trails series with a WAY different idea of what they were like then what they actually were. Trails: "Welcome to Zemuria. Here, an industrial revolution based around the use of orbal energy is completely changing society. You can even use orbal energy to enhance your physical abilities via portable devices called orbments! They also allow you to use magical abilities called Arts." Me: "Oh, so this is how people are going to do crazy anime shit. Via fancy Arts and Orbments power. I can easily see how this system can be used for a clear and consistent power system, in an otherwise realistic and grounded setting." Trails: "Uhhhh" Me: "So this guy who uses the Shadow Clone no Jutsu is using a really fancy Art, right?" Trails: "No, he can just do that." Me: "Oh, o-okay" Trails: "One of your party members is a twelve-year-old girl with a gatling gun." Me: "What" Trails: "Your dad has a DBZ-esque power-up move and can go hand-to-hand with a giant robot. It's completely unrelated to any kind of Orbal enhancement." Me: "WHAT" Trails: "I haven't even mentioned the guy who's just The Joker With Superpowers yet"

I think a lot about Leo standing up for his brothers in the things that really matter to them.

Like- Leo is the one who immediately pushes Mikey and Donnie into finding Raph the second it’s clear that their oldest brother is missing because he knows Raph can’t handle being separated like that.

Leo is the one who stands up for Mikey when Mikey wants to go on a solo mission, actively vouching for him and being the one to convince Raph into letting Mikey go, because being independent and proving himself just as capable of standing on his own two feet as everyone else means so much to Mikey.

And Leo defends Donnie’s honor in particular when his brothers’ intelligence is insulted because Leo is well aware of how important Donnie’s smarts are to him - and how important having those smarts valued and acknowledged is as well.

All this goes right into just how well Leo knows his brothers. For as much as he’ll tease or fight with them, he knows them, and he loves them.

ok i swear i'm not going to talk about my breakup forever but the thing that just keeps bothering me:

i know that not getting what you need in a relationship is a COMPLETELY valid reason to end it but also. i feel like having a very vulnerable moment where i opened up about my struggles with intimacy and being relieved that i didn't have to keep doing things i wasn't comfortable with, then being dumped a YEAR later because of my lack of intimacy. is something i should be allowed to be very hurt by???

An interesting “side effect” of the canonization of the “classic era” meaning “younger era” is that the classic era now reads as “cute fun times” before the core cast became teenagers/tweens and things got super, super complicated.

Because the characters are “younger,” there’s an air of “little rascal innocence” to everything they do now. The new releases like Mania and Superstars now feel like little throwbacks to the young heroes just learning how to work together and make a difference in the world.

I don’t think this is a bad thing at all.

i love how the show adapts the books but in unexpected ways. shifting louis' suicide attempt to the 70s, having armand offer a last service before he goes but then they stay together, using the book plot of louis' interview pushing him and lestat back together to explicitly contextualize the inconsistent portrayals of lestat as this being louis' fantasy. there are so many instances where they take the books and twist them into something fresh and exciting

anyway, I really respect Li Yu's unrelenting willingness to risk his entire identity on the opportunity to get a good snack. the number of times this guy's stomach nearly gave him away in a single book...
