have seen this floating around a lot, so i wanted to address it. but. hermes's note in the show has only one piece of information on it that is proven to actually be there, concretely, with evidence. this is that the cab will take them wherever they need to go, and it is related by annabeth, who reads the note silently.
it does not, according to the show, say anything about procrustes.
the show gives no indication that hermes ever implied that that's where the entrance to the underworld was. perhaps the writers intended for the letter to have this information. but we really really aren't given enough information in the show to concretely make that assumption. and if the writers had meant for this to be assumed, they really should have done a better job in the show to point to that.
because from that conversation with hermes, i walked away assuming that he was only helping them get to the beach bc he thought they'd already failed. so. why exactly is he giving them the key to the underworld?
there is no explanation of procrustes or why he's guarding the entrance. there's no explanation from the trio how they came up with the plan, how they got to his place, even where the place is.
people keep defending certain choices in the show with "it's meant for kids" - and if so, if the primary demographic of this show is children, then i assume you that they are not going to assume that hermes told them. because the show does not do a good job setting that up.

wouldn’t it be so funny if a group of random youtubers/streamers with no professional cinematic experience could create a more compelling and earnest story than a multimillion dollar endeavor from a major film studio

Dark Souls 1 and Dark Souls 3 are about the gods and how their actions ruined humanity. Dark Souls 2 is instead about humanity itself. And it is beautiful.
Confession time: I think Dark Souls 2 is my favorite of the trio
Yes, even though there were genuine missteps in design that made the experience worse
Yes, even though Soul of Cinder and Slave Knight Gael are narrative pinnacles of the series that (almost) redeem ds3's backpedaling
(I also really really like the way ds2 handled dual wielding)
There's just something so much more compelling about ds2's atmosphere & framing. It's like a swimmy, heady, hyperreal dream that you can't wake up from.
Instead of a roll-call of all the epic guys you're gonna fight, ds2 opens with "you've become nothing. you're cursed, lost, alone and addled. you're about to go through hell and you better figure out what's going to keep you from going Hollow right quick."
From the ones I've played, the white-hot core to Fromsoftware's stories seems to be a consistent question. "What goals and ideals will you hold on to tightly enough to be able to firmly plant your feet in an impossibly bleak and hellish world and walk forward?"
Ds2 aims the question inward. It's introspective, but tauntingly so. It shows you the fate of would-be monarchs and conquerors, of kingdoms that rise and fall like tides. For all your effort and accumulation of power, you too will be just another footnote in the unending cycle. So why are you REALLY here?
It's that challenge paired with an oddly warm, almost fairtyale type setting in Drangleic that keeps pulling me back, like a moth to a flame.
And good god it's nice when my character actually looks like they know how to use their weapons

hmmm okay i’m seeing the “dick grayson is a ray of sunshine” tag increase in popularity and i feel as though i may need to clarify that whenever EYE use it, the “dick grayson is a ray of sunshine” tag is not adorable harmless smiley optimistic ball of sunshine dick. to ME dick grayson is a ray of sunshine (brilliant and brutal and furious in a way that is impossible to dream of being until you meet him) (he is simmering and sharp and too bright to look at head on, raise a hand to shade your eyes) (he burns the skin of your arms and your shoulders and your cheeks until your flesh is blistered and red from prodding, in pain and glad for it, or darker and bronzed, grateful to be touched by him at all)

just saw a post saying Charles Edwards is 'too old' to play Celebrimbor. That is entirely wrong.

actually i really don't fucking get the whole ''anders was better in awakening" circlejerk. "sealene you have posted about this several times already isn't it enough" NO IT IS NOT
anders in awakening is a cliche funnyman guy whose motivations aren't particularly interesting or compelling. oh he likes cats and doesn't like templars and wants a pretty girl. truly revolutionized writing. it doesn't help, of course, that awakening is only like 15 hours long if you do all the side content, and really none of the companions are that fleshed out.
idk man i don't have any screenshots or long professional essays about character analysis i'm not that kind of blogger. i'm just some guy who finds the da2 version of anders much, much more interesting and compelling as a character. "oh they ruined him in da2" it's called fucking character development?????????????
anders in dragon age II is far from being a flawless person. some might even say he is a bad person, and while i don't really agree to that, i do see where those people are coming from. but he is an interesting character, one that provokes heated discussion even 13 years after the game's release. how often is there any meaningful discussion regarding awakening anders that isn't just "hur dur he was better back then"?
i don't even dislike awakening anders he's a fun little guy wish he wasn't voiced by fucking greg ellis tho but come on man would this man really be an interesting companion in something longer than a 15 hours long dlc with very little companion interactions
edit: i have a feeling this post might breach containment so in case it does -- i wrote this while being kinda sleep deprived and without thinking too deep, i was just pissed at dragon age reddit being stuck in 2016. i could have articulated my point better and with less generalization towards daa anders but i won't bother rewriting the post now because most people likely won't see the new version anyway

GUYS HEAR ME OUT!!!!!!!
WHAT IF YUUJI CURSED SUKUNA TO LIVE/NOT BE ALONE...
Tumblr media
We can see here how yuji is trying very hard to convince sukuna to accept the deal. He first forced / threatened sukuna into accepting the deal. Which is different from what he did for Gumi, he allowed Gumi to decide for himself and didn't coerce him at all..
This is similar to what happened to yuta and rika. Yuta absolutely refused to let rika die here. He did it unintentionally since you know he was just a child..
Tumblr media
Yuji is trying to do for sukuna what his grandpa did for him. I mean sukuna had no one to save him so Yuji wanted to be that person for him. And in my opinion sukuna was more scared of living than dying in that particular moment ig..

Pop quiz, hotshots! Which would you rather have:
A relationship that, when it goes wrong, you can tell the other person that you need a break to reassess your relationship, and they will discuss this calmly, let you go, and then go away and think about what you said, agree that they were in the wrong, and start working on ways to fix their own behaviour;
OR
A relationship that, when you want to leave, they tell you that you don't really want to go, that you're happier with them, that you should isolate yourself from your family and friends so you can stay with them - and when you disagree and tell them the relationship is just a matter of necessity, they start in on your other relationship (which they have apparently decided is the reason you're going back, despite you making no mention of it), telling you that it's broken, that you shouldn't go back to him - and when you tell them to butt out of your personal business, they tell you they're entitled to have an opinion because you've been stranded alone together for a long time...
Is that or is that not what happened? Because I remember Lila making herself pretty clear on these points, but apparently a bunch of people think we should disregard a woman's expressed opinion about her own life, and go with what she's being told. Because Five knows best, amirite? Gosh he's so smart and clever! And he deserves this - he deserves Lila, no matter what Lila herself says. He's owed it by the universe, because he had a bad life.
Lila did have another relationship like that, where she was told what to do, kept in the dark, told that the other person knew what was best for her...and it wasn't Diego.
