Karadec + Chloe in 1x01

Honestly, I am cannot wait for when High Potential does a "My partner got kidnapped!" episode, because it is going to be an absolutely insane time.

If Morgan is Kidnapped:

Level-headed Karadec losing every last bit of calm and control as he becomes desperate to find her.

Morgan being called Karadec's "weakness"/Karadec being told caring for Morgan makes him "vulnerable".

Karadec immediately developing the world's largest guilt complex bc protecting Morgan is HIS responsibility. Bonus if the kidnapper is someone from Karadec's past seeking revenge, who purposefully targeted Morgan to hurt him.

If Karadec is Kidnapped:

Oh, you thought Morgan was chaotic BEFORE? Now she's essentially a hurricane compressed into a laser, pointed at one thing only - getting Karadec back. She is going to hit you harder than anything you ever thought possible (figuratively and literally).

Soto sending Morgan home (with police protection) bc she doesn't want Morgan to get kidnapped too. so Morgan privately investigates Karadec's disappearance, without the police knowing.

Morgan figuring out where Karadec is, arriving first on the scene, and refusing to wait for back-up before running in to try and save Karadec.

Bonus Tropes for Either Scenario:

Being used as bait to lure in the other. And the other knowing they're walking into a trap but doing it anyway.

Kidnapper massively underestimating Morgan, whether she's the hostage or the rescuer. The kidnapper thinks she's just Karadec's pretty partner that occasionally makes observations or spouts facts, rather than seeing the fully intelligent, cunning, and tough as nails person she is.

The person kidnapped being certain their partner will find them.

Soto's blood pressure spiking through the roof.

Honestly that’s such a real line. Smart women are constantly belittled for their intelligence, then when they exhibit the personality traits associated with a high IQ, they’re called stupid, usually by men who feel threatened and want to go after what they know is simultaneously one of the biggest thing they have confidence in and the biggest thing they’re shamed for.

I really love how Daniel Sunjata plays Karadec, portraying him as empathetic and kind, but in a quiet, serious way. He believes in what he’s doing, but the job has worn him down.

It makes his dynamic with Morgan really appealing, bc you get the sense she’s the first person to make him smile in a very long time. (And she’s not even really trying! She’s just joking like she always does. There’s just something in Morgan that reaches Karadec in a way no one else can.)

I feel like their partnership is going to grow in this way, and it’ll be super interesting to watch. Especially how they have a dangerous job, and part of Karadec’s role is to protect his consultant, bc she doesn’t have police training. A “It’s my job to protect you” combined with “If I lose you, I’ll lose the light you’ve brought into my world” mindset is one of my fav ship dynamics.

Random Morgan x Karadec thought I wanna write:

Morgan has taken a day off and finally Karadec has one day without her talking his ears off.

He is pumped up, an almost empty coffee cup in hand, keys jiggling in between his fingers as he walks to the crime scene. Oz is giving him the preliminary run down of the scene and he is mentally feeling the peace of being surrounded by his people, his team and the quiet of doing his own thing before Morgan invaded it.

And think of the devil, and she calls. 😏 He rolls his eyes but picks up nonetheless, ready to sass her a bit when he hears some distinct gunshot sounds from her phone and he is on high alert.

Meanwhile, Morgan, who had gone to Ava's school for open house with Ava and Elliot is now stuck there in a classroom with other parents and their children as a crazed shooter is prowling the hallway, shooting and shouting randomly. And the first person she thinks to call is who? Adam freaking Karadec!

So, Adam races down to the school, vaguely recalling that he had called for backup to that school address. He reaches the school and finds his heart dropping to the pit of his stomach when he overhears the cops saying that a parent was injured by the shooter after they tackled him to the ground. He gets some details off the rookie but his mind is spinning as he puts together the data. Tall, female, blonde, and a parent of a high school kid. In his distress, he doesn't hear the name. He is spiralling and looking around for her or her kids and finally he hears someone calling for him.

He turns to see Elliot waving to him and calling him over. His body is feeling some relief on seeing both Elliot and Ava okay and standing together and he asks where Morgan is when she walks out from around a corner and he feels so much lighter. That crushing weight lifting off his chest as she struts confidently towards them, hands full of water bottles and a bright, dazzling smile.

His eyes fly all over her form, looking for any wounds and he doesn't find any. He sends a silent thank you upwards.

He has this insane urge to hug her but all he does is brush her shoulder with his fingers. The only consolation is when she leans into his touch and tells him that they are all fine and that she had gone to meet the badass that had tackled the shooter.

The day ends with him driving all of them back to her place. He leaves after making sure they are alright. (Ludo is inside putting baby Chloe to sleep)

Before Adam leaves, Morgan touches his elbow and whispers a sincere thank you. He nods the way he does, turns and gives into the urge and pulls her into a side hug, squeezing her shoulder before brushing his hand on her arm back and forth as he lays his cheek on her head for a few seconds. Unable to resist, he brushes his lips on her temple before bidding her goodnight and walking back to his car.

He doesn't look but he wants to. But he doesn't and starts his car. His eyes involuntarily find Morgan still standing on her porch, waiting for him to drive off. Offering a small smile, he pulls off the driveway and heads straight home where he sits in his car a long, long time, simply letting the day wash over him.
