Idk what makes Jason an interesting character is the inherent tradgedy of watching someone suffer the unimaginable for what is ultimately a noble cause, only to come out the other side so broken and bitter that he literally harms the people he was originally trying to protect. He hurts children, victims, and Gotham as a whole under the guise of saving them, when in reality he wants to matter more than anything. He's an unreliable narrator who clawed himself out of one hole just to dig himself a deeper one. Why strip his character of that to make him more palatable when it's literally the most compelling thing about him? It's not pretty but if you're not going to meet it head on than what's the fucking point

Demons don't sleep at night

For Day 6 of Emmet month, Emotions, I decided to do a piece inspired by one of my favorite submas fics ever, Demon in White by @anxiously-introverted. When listening to Fake a Smile by Alan Walker, I felt the lyrics fit really well and have had this image in my head ever since as part of an animatic sort of thing. I figured I could make one panel real.

Emmet having lower self esteem and struggling with self worth is a headcanon that hits me extremely close to home (hello, projection), so portrayals of Emmet dealing with that, then receiving assurance from his loved ones, mean a lot to me. This fic has lived in my brain since it was written and I am glad I finally drew something inspired by it.

what frustrates me a lot in the fandom is this idea that... bunny was this sort of loser so lacking in self awareness that you cant even call him a hypocrite. so stupid he sort of "deserved it".

and that's just genuinely not true. bunny was absolutely neither a loser, nor unaware of his intellectual disability, nor did he ever "make peace" with it. he was actively someone who sought out to win things in life.

he is asthmatic and excelled at four sports. he is blind and draws. he is dyslexic and has a loose attention span, but he studies greek and latin.

he's not an excellent student, but that is simply not an accurate gage on how intelligent he is, when we speak of someone who is canonically intellectually disabled.

bunny couldn't read until age 10, henry says, and that means he probably was taught how to write even later. in english. let alone greek. let alone being taught to type.

but he does, perhaps not well, but he does. which is commendable and shows motivation more than charles or francis. i think there's a reason why he barks at francis for not putting in effort, because bunny absolutely puts it in to his own terms and ends up with way subpar results as opposed to him. it's jealousy, that if he could apply himself, he would.

i think this particular aspect is either... people just brush off bunny's detailed interests and that he Does work and call him stupid, or overwrite his intelligence. it feels particularly like they choose to ignore that it must be hard for him to study and he canonically spends his hours doing it anyway. because he wants to.

because he's never lost at anything, because he is blind and can draw, and is asthmatic and an athelete. because bunny corcoran is a winner, not a scholar but a winner for certain.

now that trump has tiktok, twitter, facebook and insta in his pocket, get ready for a massive wave of internet censorship. one of trump's greatest weapons has always been misinformation; it's going to become harder and harder to spread facts and criticism going forward. posts that aren't made invisible will be magically ignored by the algorithm. dissidents will have their accounts deleted and voices erased.

the city where we live doesn't allow public barbecues so my brother fucking welded a grill to a handcart and now hosts "chill and grill sessions" where he sends all his friends his live location so they can hunt him down on their bikes with sausages in their backpacks while he carts it around evading the police like some sort of barbecue vigilante, grilling on the run. i have never been prouder of him
