Really guts me when people blame Lucrecia for running away. Like??? What was she supposed to do??? Go up against an entire militaristic organization on her own? An organization with literal ARMIES at its disposal? Risk the safety of her child without any set plan or resources? Her only super power is that the Jenova cells prevent her from dying. Want to know the more likely outcome if she'd have tried anything? Hojo would have just strapped her to a table and tortured her over and over and over again to test the limits of her healing abilities. While probably threatening her infant son's safety if she didn't comply. This is already taking into account that Lucrecia is also extremely mentally unwell at this time and is exhibiting physical and mental deterioration due to the Jenova cells. Literally what was she supposed to do?

Her running away was definitely not a good thing. Her absence in Sephiroth's life definitely kicks off a LOT of the outcomes that take place later on. But it's not like she had the right help, support, or the general ability to rescue her son. She'd just accepted that she couldn't even save Vincent. And already on the HEELS of feeling responsible for Grimoire's death. Lucrecia was in no state of mind to believe she was capable of fighting and succeeding against Shinra. I guarantee you 99.9% of her vocal haters would have done the exact same thing she did.

one thing I love about CC is how accurate it is with how fans react to AGS compared to real life. Like if I told you,

"Genesis and Sephiroth fans are constantly feuding over who is better, prettier, etc etc, or they have a very strong solidarity and don't fight at all. Some Genesis fans are more devoted to his character and some are more devoted to his opinions. Angeal fans are vibing in the corner with his homemade cooking and photography. And they all think they kiss."

Would you think that's about the in-game fanclubs, or the actual real fandom? The answer is both.

(And before you go "but they didn't think they would kiss in the game-" I can guarantee that if squeenix wasn't a coward, they would. If two human beings are Popular and Exist, people will make them kiss. No matter what.)

Sephiroth having the petting animation even though he was never supposed to be in a situation where he'd need it makes me FEEL things because it kind of mirrors his real situation... He was never supposed to have compassion or kindness, because ShinRa, who "designed" him never intended for him to be in a situation where he'd need those either, but he still has them!

One of my legit favorite things about sane!Sephiroth is the fact that, despite his cruel upbringing and seemingly love-barren environment, he still proves himself to be human with his innate compassion and sense of righteousness. He doesn’t let his own deficits in the compassion department affect how he treats others—nor does he weaponize his background and use it as an excuse to tear others down around him. There’s so many canonical examples of Sephiroth protecting others (saving Zack from Ifrit), expressing his loyalty (refusing to harm Genesis & Angeal), and going out of his way to right his own wrongs (immediately offering to donate blood when Genesis is in need of a transfusion). ShinRa may have wanted a soulless, emotionless, robotic beast of a SOLDIER, but the human blood in that fella ultimately eclipsed all else. And what they got instead was a man worthy of wielding the title of SOLDIER’s very finest, because Sephiroth really was a hero, in my opinion, until the very moment he lost what made him so human.
