Oasis
"Go Let it Out"
(Wembley, 2000)
Is it any wonder why princes and kings
Are clowns that caper in their sawdust rings?
Ordinary people that are like you and me
We're the keepers of their destiny
We're the keepers of their destiny

every time i want to be absolutely ruined, i just think about the fact that, despite being only five seasons, in-universe bbc's merlin spanned over a period of ten years.
ten years during which merlin dressed and undressed arthur every day. took care of his armour. stood and fastened the clasps when arthur was going out to battle. what imaginably could be more quietly intimate than that?
ten years during which merlin withstood being underestimated, withstood all that he had done for arthur being unacknowledged, just so he could stay by his side.
ten years during which the most powerful magical being in albion chose to stay by arthur's side as his manservant, and his friend. destiny be damned.
that utter devotion, loyalty to each other? arthur's reciprocated loyalty to and love for merlin despite the fact that, in his mind, he was just a human servant who hadn't saved his life nearly half as much as in reality?
I'M DEAD. BOWLED OVER. IN RUINS.

the double-edged sword of old British literature is that there’s a solid chance it’ll feel gay but there’s an equally solid chance it’ll also feel racist

Because my Sherlock Holmes birthday drawing isn’t even halfway complete, and I’m going to be job hunting for the rest of the week, please accept this post as a humble offering for our silly detective’s silly birthday (that I didn’t know was a thing until today).
I present to you: Sherlock Holmes’ silly noises and exclamations
“Halloa! Halloa!”
“Tut-tut”
“La! Hum!”
“By Jove!”
“Halloa, what’s this?”
“Ah!”
“Bleat, Watson - unmitigated bleat!”
“Dear me!”
“Strange! Very strange indeed!”
“Excellent, Watson!”
“Aye, what’s the game?”
“Ha! It is the answer!”
“Dear me! what a chorus of groans, cries, and bleatings! What a rag-bag of singular happenings!”
“Halloa, what on earth-“
“There is some devilry going forward!”
“Curious, Watson, very curious!”
“Why, of course, it is Italian!”
“But, dear me, how slow witted I have been!”
“By George! It’s attempted murder at the least!”
“Take your hat! Come with me!”
I have to stop here because I’m falling asleep, but this is by no means the end of the list (feel free to add)

Unsolicited Miraculous Ladybug Headcanon: Adrien Agreste doesn’t know how to properly pronounce his own name. Sure, he SETTLES with one, but on a theoretical level, he has no idea with what intention he was named with.
Mind you, it’s not even because of anything nefarious— he just had two very different nationalities for parents. The French and British pronunciations were used interchangeably, because Emilie and Gabriel often argued on a daily basis about how Adrien is ‘supposed’ to be said. (Have you ever seen an Englishman and a Frenchman argue about culture? It’s thermonuclear.)
Ah-dree-uhn vs Ay-dree-uhn is a battle that has been waged within the Agreste household for years
(Based on a very real conversation I had with a English-French person named Adrien on my trip to France)

Johnny Marr | Did You Know?
Johnny Marr would be considered a legendary guitarist within the British Canon for his innovative guitar work as a member of The Smiths alone, but he was also a full-time member of Modest Mouse, The Pretenders, and The The - and a prolific session musician and collaborator with the Pet Shop Boys, Talking Heads, Bryan Ferry and Hans Zimmer.
Also Johnny Marr, in French "J'en ai marre", roughly translates to "I'm fed up" or "I've had it up to here".
The photo above, where he is featured on the far left, was taken by Brian Rasic from a show during his time as a full time member of Modest Mouse during the "We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank" recording sessions and subsequent tour.

Oh to be a Romani kid who was raised in the circus.
Robin!Dick (10 years old) cautiously approached Scarecrow, his face masked to shield him from the fear toxin.
Robin!Dick: Um, sir, you're not American, right?
Scarecrow scanned the area, wary of Batman’s presence, unsure if this was some sort of trap. After a moment, he decided to answer.
Scarecrow: I'm from England, born and raised. Moved here in my teens. Why do you ask?
Robin!Dick: Okay, you're an adult, then. Can you explain to me what the heck a pound is?
Scarecrow (confused, slightly annoyed): The currency?
Robin!Dick (with slight panic): No, weight! Why is it written "lb"? And what are inches? Why is a football field a unit of measurement?
Scarecrow (nodding, relating to the plight): Oh… wow. I went through this when I first moved here.
Robin!Dick: Yeah my... um... grandfather did too, but he won't explain any of this! I'm so confused! Why is it all so confusing?
Scarecrow (being british): Because when the Americans won the war, they decided to keep messing with us. I can give you a quick crash course, but where's Batman?
Robin!Dick turned around and pointed at his father, who was busy battling a swarm of crazed goons.
Robin!Dick: He’s… busy.
Scarecrow: I should spray you with toxin, but dang, you are adorable.
Robin!Dick (appreciating the compliment): Aww, thank you!
Scarecrow: No problem! Alright, to start: the imperial system is what the bloody Americans use, this place and a small number of other places, while the metric system is what everyone else uses.
