🚨 Today, the U.S. Supreme Court weakened the power of thousands of Black voters by upholding South Carolina’s congressional map, which gerrymanders 30,000 Black residents in Charleston.
In a 6-3 decision, the High Court ruled that South Carolina did not unlawfully consider race when they drew a congressional district that removed roughly 30,000 Black voters and packed them into the district held by Democratic Rep. James Clyburn. That district is only one of the seven congressional districts held by Democrats.
In their decision, the Court also stated that because the plaintiffs did not provide an alternative map, they could not argue that the South Carolina State Legislature did not act in “good faith,” a precedent not typically required in previous gerrymandering cases. This decision will make it harder for voters to fight unfair maps in the future.
From the U.S. Supreme Court to the State Senate, we have the power to decide who draws our congressional maps and who confirms federal and Supreme Court judges. Make sure you’re registered to vote right now at weall.vote/register.

youtube

I got this general idea from a gentleman on @notes. So, I thought I’d put something together for myself. I’m going to be 61 this year and getting older DOES bring its own challenges. Not to mention that being labeled “Boomer” is not the insult some think it is. I’m not as quick to think of a word that’s “on the tip of my tongue”. I’m not as fast, in general, as I used to be. And my memory, though far from being senile, isn’t as good as it used to be, I’m ageing. But you know what I’m not? Stupid. My beliefs, apparently are being considered “radical”, “leftist” and even “socialist”. And, you know what? Put me in that category for these:
I don’t want a dictator, a man who ADMITTED that is what he will be on the 1st day. I don't want a king (we actually fought a war about that). I want ALL Americans to be free. ALL Americans, to have enough to eat, a roof over their heads, love WHOEVER they want without hate and discrimination. I want ALL Americans to have freedom OF and FROM religion. I believe, no, I KNOW, that abortion IS health care. I KNOW trans healthcare IS healthcare. I believe in separation of church and state. I believe in America and will vote with my conscience and with love for my country.
If this makes me lose friends, I’m sorry. I don’t make friends with people I don’t care about on some level and I WILL miss you.
China is tightening its grip on global critical-mineral supplies by imposing export restrictions on antimony, a metal essential for ammunition production. This move, effective September 15th, is a significant development in the ongoing geopolitical struggle over vital resources. The restrictions come as prices for antimony, already surging, are expected to climb even higher. This action adds to previous controls on minerals like gallium and germanium, raising concerns in Washington and beyond. 🇨🇳💥
For those in the ammunition industry and related sectors, this could mean higher costs and increased challenges in sourcing critical materials. Stay informed and be prepared for the ripple effects this may have on the market and supply chains globally. 🌐💼

𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 🚨 Today the Supreme Court allowed the Louisiana congressional map to be redrawn to add another majority-Black district.
This decision a win for our democracy and Black voters in Louisiana, who were facing a congressional map that diluted their power and forced them into one district.
Today's ruling comes on the heels of Allen v. Milligan, in which SCOTUS upheld Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act and ordered Alabama officials to redraw the state's congressional map to allow an additional Black majority district.
