French Inhale // Arlo Dittman X Female Reader Smut
Minors DNI
The new production assistant for Magic Funhouse catches Arlo on a night where he's not being a total tool.
tags: Arlo Dittman x reader, smut, loss of virginity, mentions of a degradation kink, alcohol and marijuana use, slight OOC Arlo because he's relatively calm and I'm still working on getting his voice right
Author's note: I have no idea if there is even an audience for this, but I really want to start posting fan fiction, specifically smut and this is the first one I've ever written that I've actually finished. I have a few other WIPs that I would like to post soon for Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel, but if someone ends up liking this maybe I'll delve more into the Brandon Rogers cinematic universe.
I wanted this to be a reader fic, but its my first time writing something like this for others and I made the mistake of making the reader bi and a former stoner so it might be harder for some readers to relate to.
Last note before we get to the good stuff, this came from the fact that I have a degradation kink and would love to be screamed at by Arlo. But I realized that poor man child is a virgin and I wanted his first time to be nice.
By your second week working on the set of Magic Funhouse, you felt like you were finally getting the hang of things. The cast and crew were chaotic to say the least and the star — specifically — was a massive tool. But you were getting to know some of their little quirks and learning the best ways to deescalate the absolutely batshit insane situations they found themselves in.
As their new executive producer, you did everything from man the lights and switch board to fixing the camera whenever one of them inevitably knocked it over and going on coffee runs. It wasn’t the best job, but it was a start and you were beginning to think you might actually be good at it.
Arlo had even stopped using the air horn to tell you when you messed up, opting instead to hurl verbal insults at you. But that was the beginning to be a new problem. You had always liked to be degraded in the bedroom but you never thought it would leak its way into your professional life.
There was something about that man-child, even if he was a total dick face, that made you wish he was bending you over a table while he degraded you. It made you fight back. And in a way, that you thought at least, brought a twinkle to those crazy eyes.
You were about to leave for the night, so you thought you’d try and get a few more words in with the performer before going home and spending the rest of the night with your vibrator. You knocked on his dressing room door.
“Who the fuck is it?” He yelled out.
You opened the door and started to say, “Hey it’s me” when you realized he was quickly pulling his hand out of his pants, trying to brush it off. He looked flushed and high, but he always looked high so that wasn’t new. “Sorry, Arlo. I shouldn’t have walked in like that.” You said sheepishly, thinking about how you would be keeping this image of him in your brain for later.
“Yeah, you really fucking shouldn’t have. What FUCK do you want?” He was yelling but keeping his hands on either sides of legs, looking a bit stiff.
“Oh, I just finished everything I needed to do for the day. And I was going to head out for the night, but I wanted to see if you needed any help with anything before I left.” You felt yourself starting to ramble, nervously you fidgeted with the hem of your skirt.
“Uh, yeah. I do need your help.” He said, which honestly surprised you. You raised your eyebrows, thinking about what you assumed the man had been doing moments ago. Was that what he needed help with? Even if he made your pussy wet, you weren’t sure if that was something you’d be willing to do.
“You do?” You asked him, realizing it was almost nine and that you were the last two in the studio.
“Yeah, I need help finishing this bottle.” He grinned. “And the rest of this fucking weed.”
Umm, what? Normally, you wouldn’t get fucked up with coworkers but you knew this job was pretty unconventional. And you hadn’t had a drink in a while or touched weed since college.
You stood there for a moment trying to decide what to do, but then your curiosity and hormones got the best of you so you sat down next to him and took the bottle from his hands taking a swig. You didn’t finish swallowing before motioning to him to hand you the taxidermied cat bong he was holding.
He obliged lying back on the couch with his hands folded behind his head watching you as if he was judging you and this was some sort of initiation into a secret club. You inhaled and instantly felt like a high schooler again before exhaling the way you always did with a little French inhale.
“That was hot,” he said, looking at you his eyes looking glassy and heated. You tried not to take his comment too seriously, but you felt warmth rush to your lower stomach just at his comment. “Teach me how to do that,” he demanded.
“I don’t really know how to teach it. I learned how to do it in high school and I’ve just always done it that way ever since.” There you go rambling again. Was it extra warm in his dressing room or was it just you? “This girl I liked did it and I thought it was hot, so I thought if I did it. I’d be hot too, I guess. Glad to know it still works.”
His face turned and he looked down at his lap and you realized what a mistake you had made. Mentioning high school probably was a trigger for him. You knew his past. You knew he had been in a coma since he was a child and only woke up a few years ago. No wonder he was such an asshole, he missed all the years when everyone is an asshole before most of them grow up and grow out of it.
“I can try and teach you, but I need to hit it again to try and think of how I can explain it. It’s basically instinct to me at this point.” He handed it back to you and you took another hit, this time really thinking about the motions of what you were doing.
“Okay so you take a large puff and hold it in your mouth… then you part your lips slowly letting it escape out of your mouth and maybe like use your tongue to push it up and out. That’s when you inhale through your nose.”
“Okay, okay. I got this. Give it to me,” he snatched the bong from your hands and gave it a shot. He failed miserably and even started coughing a bit. You reached forward and patted his back in a sad attempt to comfort him. Whatever it was, it was weird and you yanked your hand back as if you were a child who just touched a hot stove.
“It’s okay. It’s a bit hard at first. I remember I used to just sit in front of the mirror and watch myself for hours before I actually got it right. I never ended up learning any other tricks. They’re all hard.” He looked up at you, eyes wide and even more bloodshot than before. You wondered how red your eyes were about to be. He looked so soft and almost sweet and you realized this was one of the most pleasant and calm moments you had ever spent with him. “Try again. Maybe jut out your jaw a bit when you release the smoke. That might make it easier.”
He hit it again and you leaned back on the couch taking a swig of the bottle as you watched him. The drink wasn’t very good but you hadn’t been properly sauced in a while and decided tonight would be as good as any. It would also calm your nerves a bit. You hoped he didn’t notice the way your hands shook when you had pulled back from touching him.
This time he wasn’t quite there but it was definitely better than before. At least he wasn’t coughing. “You’re getting better,” You said with a smile that he reciprocated. Man, almost-nice Arlo was weird.
“I’ll keep practicing. But I’ve been hogging it. Your turn.” He handed it to you, and you questioned if you should keep going. You had been a major stoner in high school and college, but you stopped when you realized how lazy it was making you. You knew that even though your tolerance had been high at one point, it most definitely wasn’t anymore. But part of you wanted to see where the night went if you lost a bit of control.
You hit it again, and realized you were already feeling really high from the first two hits. And the warmth in your belly was growing from the combination of the alcohol and being so close to such a pretty man.
You handed the bong back to him, but he just set it down on the table. “You look really stoned,” he said.
“Ugh, do I? I haven’t smoked in a few years so my tolerance is low. I thought yours would be high though Arlo, but your eyes are bloodshot as hell.”
“This is some good shit. Something with moon rocks.” Your eyes widened at that. It would be a while before you were able to drive home. You resigned to drink a little more since now you knew you were stuck here for a while longer. “Shit, I remember moon rocks. I’m already feeling it but I’m about to be fucking weird.”
“About to be?” You smacked him on the chest playfully hoping it didn’t come across too much as flirting but also wondering if that wouldn’t be so bad. This side of Arlo, without the stressors and spotlights, was actually nice.
The two of you talked for hours about so many random subjects, about the show and other crew, your rebellious past and you even broached the subject of his parents and the coma at one point. He joked and teased but you dished it right back out to him, but it was fun. You were really enjoying him for once. Not just wanting him to hate fuck you against a wall.
At a certain point, he even mastered the French inhale and you stood up on the table and applauded, having forgotten about your plans to sober up at some point you had continued to drink and smoke here and there. You were still standing on the table, doing your best impression of Cronis kissing his stacks of money when you tripped and almost fell but he caught you, a little clumsily but he caught you.
Your skirt had ridden up, certainly giving him a decent view of your lace underwear (you liked to feel pretty even if no one was going to see you in them). The feeling of your breasts pressed against his chest even through the fabric of your shirts made you exhale sharply. He huffed, eyes locking with yours for a moment before setting you down on the couch and sitting a little further away from you than before. You were a bit confused, but pretty fucked up and horny so you made a strange decision.
You got on all fours and crawled on the couch to him. The v-neck of your shirt falling down, revealing a lot of cleavage. Heat rushed to his face but he looked almost scared. You started to regret what you were doing but you felt like you had to fully commit to not embarrass yourself. Once you were practically on his lap, you looked up at him with big puppy dog eyes. “Arlo, do you want to know a secret?”
He gulped. “Uh, yes.”
“I like it when you’re a jerk to me.”
His looked very confused. “Uh-what do you mean?”
You sat down next to him, realizing this might be harder than you thought. “Don’t get me wrong. I like seeing this softer side to you. But when you berate me in front of everyone, it turns me on.”
It looked like his eyes were about to pop out of his head. You decided to go bold, and settled yourself back in his lap. Your pulse quickened as you felt him go hard underneath you but you didn’t want to go any further before you got verbal consent from him. This was probably too far but your skin was practically buzzing from all the weed and alcohol and his lap just looked so inviting.
“Aren’t you a lesbian?” He asked.
You sputtered. “What? No,” then you realized where he got that from. The girl you told him about that inspired you to learn how to French inhale. “Oh, fuck. I’m bi.”
He looked a little confused.
“I like girls and guys.” You clarified and with that his face lit up.
“Fuck, that’s hot. I forgot that was thing now.” You wanted to correct him. Bisexuality had always been a thing, just less accepted and he was in a coma when people really started to come to terms with how fluid sexuality is but he grabbed your chin and pulled you in for a frenzied kiss. The feeling of his lips against yours, especially in this drugged state, was heavenly. He was a bit of a sloppy kisser, but you didn’t care and you doubted you were giving your best performance in this state.
You deepened the kiss, prying his lips open with your tongue and pushing it into his mouth. You ran your tongue along his and he let out a groan that made you squeeze your legs forgetting that he was between your thighs. Arlo bucked his hips into yours and then his hands wrapped around your waste pulling you as close to him as you could possibly be without taking your clothes off.
The two of you made out like this for a while, grinding your hips together and both making some of the most pornographic noises you’ve ever heard from yourself and partner from what was basically just dryhumping.
Panting, you drew apart to catch your breath but pressed your forehead against his not wanting to be too far from the dickhead. You could feel his growing bulge in his pants and your panties were getting embarrassingly wet. “Do you want to—?” He started to ask, but you cut him off.
“Have sex?” You finished for him.
“Fuck, yes.” You kissed him again. This time was a bit slower, less frantic. You ground your hips down onto him, loving the feeling of his hardness against your clothed sex. Then he pulled away. “Just warning you, I don’t have much experience.”
“That’s okay,” you assured him. “You’ll figure it out.” You dove in for another kiss halting to ask, “Do you have a condom?”
“Shit, no. Do you?”
You heaved. “No.” He practically whined at that. “I have a birth control implant. And I get tested between partners. What about you?”
“I don’t take birth control. I’m a boy,” he said with a shrug.
“You’re not a boy. You’re a man, especially if you want to be having sex.” You chided him for what was either a dumb joke or pure stupidity on his part. “When’s the last time you were tested?”
“Never,” he said. Ugh, this was disappointing. You were so close and the only barrier you had was an utter lack of condom. You started to get off his lap, but he grabbed you by the waist and pulled you back down. Shuddering at the feeling of you abruptly falling into his lap, he whispered the next few words. “I don’t exactly have any experience.”
“You’re a virgin?” He nodded. You guessed that made sense, but you had thought he would have had sex at some point since coming out of his coma. Especially given how frequently the subject seemed to come up on the set of the children’s television program he hosted. “Okay, are you sure you want to do this?”
“Fuck yes,” he said, before pulling you back to him with a searing kiss. His skills were improving, just in the last half hour or so since you shared your first kiss.
Just a few moments later, you pulled off your top and bra. His eyes glued to your tits, he balled up his fists into the material of your skirt. “Go ahead, touch them.” Once given permission, he didn’t need to be told twice, his hands went straight to your chest. He cupped your breasts and ran his thumbs over your pert nipples. You groaned at the touch.
“Take off your shirt, Arlo,” you ordered, but before he could even start unbuttoning it, you started it for him. You pushed it off his shoulders and placed your hands flat against his chest. “Pants too,” the two of you parted quickly. Both stripping down to nothing.
As soon as those boxers were down his hips, you grabbed a hold of cock and he let out of whine as you pushed him back down on the couch. You gathered saliva in your mouth, spitting it on his dick to lube it up before pumping it into your hand. As you stroked him, you could feel him throbbing in your tight grip. The sensation sent a rush of heat to your core and made you gush so much you were dripping down your thighs with arousal. You reached down and touched your own sex with the your hand, gathering slick with your digit.
Usually, you refused to have sex with anyone who wouldn’t go down on you first but you were already soaking and it was his first time so you didn’t want to put too much pressure on him to do anything he didn’t want to do. “F-fuck, Arlo, you still good? You ready?” He grabbed your head by the hair at the back of your neck, yanking your head in for another kiss in response.
You took that as Yes, so you pushed him to lie on his back and crawled back on top of him. You locked eyes with him before lining up his tip with your entrance and sinking down on him, reveling in the feeling of him filling you. You both groaned and Once he was fully sheathed in you, you stayed there for a moment giving him time to take in the sensations. He may not have been the one getting stretched, but you knew he was a twenty nine year-old virgin and you wanted to make it last as long as you could. You had a feeling he wouldn’t last long though by the way his face contorted in pleasure from the mere feeling of your warmth around him. You leaned down to plant a short and sweet kiss on his lips before you started rocking against his hips.
You started with slow, languid movements at first, but he clearly became fed up with this teasing because he began thrusting his hips in time with each of your bounces. He looked so beautiful between your legs and that normally loud mouth of his was shut other than the moans that escaped from his lips.
His hands wandered all over your body before settling back on your breasts. He groped them rougher this time, looking intently at the way your nipples pebbled at his touch. He rolled them between his fingers, making your thrusts onto him falter. The performer leaned down, sucking as much of your right breast into his mouth that he could fit.
“F-fuck, Arlo. That feels good,” you said praising him and he suckled on your nipple before, slowly released with a slight graze of his teeth against your bud. He dragged a kiss from one mound to the other on your chest and replicated the same motions in your other nipple. You were surprised he was even putting this much effort in, not just sitting back and enjoying the show like you expected him to but you were grateful because the divine feeling went straight to your neglected clit.
You decided you would take matters into your own hands so you reached down and grazed tight circles around the swollen bundle of nerves. The movement distracted him from his attention to your chest, he hungrily watched your deft fingers playing with yourself as he disappeared into your greedy cunt.
He slapped your hand away and you were about to protest, but he replaced it with his own. He grazed his thumb lightly across your clit, before circling it and trying his best to copy what he remembered you doing moments before.
The touch from him, though clearly a new action for him, made your thighs quiver and your thrusts falter so you were glad by now he was pulling a lot of the weight in that department. The sound of smacking flesh was music to your ears as he jackhammered into you. Tension began to coil in your lower belly and you started to lose any semblance on composure you had before. Your moans grew louder and louder with each thrust.
“Fuck, I-I’m going to cum,” he yelled out and you were about to tell him to cum anywhere he likes but you were too late. His hips stuttered and you could feel his cock pulsing as he emptied himself inside of you. Spent, you collapsed onto him as soon as he finished painting your walls with his seed and kissed him hard. You wrapped your arms around each other and basked in the afterglow of the mess you made of one another.
You may not have cum, but you were spent from all the tension. You really didn’t expect to once you learned it would be his first time. And he came pretty close to getting you over that threshold, which you thought was actually pretty impressive for his first time.
He stayed inside of you for a few minutes as the both of you gasped for air. The room was silent, the sounds of sex having ceased and both of you too tired to utter a word. But even after he pulled out, he clung on to you like a life raft keeping him afloat. It was so nice to be held like this. It has been so long since someone had wanted to cuddle after sex. You were so lost in your thoughts it took you a moment to realize his seed was spilling out of you. You jumped up, surprising him and looked around the room for something to clean yourself up with.
His brows furrowed, “What’s wrong?”
“I need something to clean up your cum,” you said, your eyes scanning the room for something you could use. He put one hand on your hip, keeping you on top of him as he reached down under the couch to grab a box of tissues. He handed them to you and you thanked him before really thinking about how it was a strange place to put them. “Why were these under your couch?” You asked.
“You interrupted my post-show jack off session. I had to hide them somewhere,” you giggled a bit at that as you patted yourself clean before moving on to wipe away the cum that spilled out on to him and the couch.
“I fucking knew it, so you were just trying to get your dick wet when you offered me a drink?”
“I was trying to get to know my favorite employee,” he said nuzzling his face into your chest sheepishly, before retreating slightly to add, “I thought about what it would be like to fuck you but I’ve convinced myself I’d be a virgin forever.”
“Well, now you know that’s not true.” You said before pressing your lips to sweat soaked forehead.

STOLITZØ - SIXTY EIGHT
“Everything packed?” Loona tossed a duffel bag on the bed and looked over at Blitzø.
He took a quick glance around the room and nodded. “Yup. That’s everything. Thanks sweetie.”
He smiled lovingly up at her.
Loona rolled her eyes. A smile curled on her lips as she zipped the bag and threw it over her shoulder.
What a great girl.
Blitzø beamed.
“So glad you’re finally outta here!” Millie bounced in place and clapped her hands.
Blitzø laughed.
“And you guys are still ok taking care of stuff at the office for a while longer?” He patted Millie on the shoulder.
Millie swooped him up in a big hug, pinning his arms. He was very appreciative that she wasn’t crushing him like he definitely knew she could.
“Yes, Sir. Of course.” Moxxie stood tall and puffed out his chest.
Blitzø snirked a little laugh.
Thinks he’s the big man now.
“I’m trusting you, Mox.” Blitzø gave him a serious look and a supportive nod.
Moxxie beamed and nodded enthusiastically.
“But seriously. I’m trusting you, Millie.” Blitzø leaned close to Millie and whispered. “Don’t let Moxxie touch ANYTHING. Don’t let your husband f*ck up my business.”
Millie released Blitzø from their hug, smiled mischievously and gave him a wink. Moxxie was too busy riding his imaginary praise high to notice.
“Come on, hun.” Millie grabbed Moxxie by the hand. “Let’s get goin. Places to be!”
“Oh. Yes. Right!” Moxxie shook off his stupor, clasped his wife’s hand and followed her to the door.
“Bye, Sir!” Moxxie waved. “See you soon!”
“Not if I see you first!” Blitzø called after him, waggling his eyebrows, and winking.
Millie giggled and pulled Moxxie out the door. But not before Moxxie flipped Blitzø off.
Blitzø laughed and smiled to himself. Things were feeling normal again. Better than normal.
He heard a portal open and close and shortly afterwards Octavia came into the room.
“Via!” Stolas walked over and gave her a big hug.
“Hey, dad.” She smiled and hugged him back. “Just got here and sent Millie and Moxxie on their way.”
“I’m so proud of you.” Stolas beamed with pride. “You’ve gotten so good with your portals in such a short time.”
“Thanks, dad.”
“Yeah, kiddo.” Blitzø came over and pulled her tuque down a little over her eyes, and ruffled her head feathers with it. “You’re getting really good.”
Octavia swatted Blitzø away and fixed her hair. She turned away to put her hat back on, and Blitzø was sure he could see a little blush on her cheeks.
“Yeah… Whatever…” She muttered.
SO. DAMN. CUTE.
“Ok, dad. Enough of that.” Loona gave Blitzø a little shove to move him away from Octavia.
“I’ve got everything.” She shook the bag on her shoulder. “Remember! No heavy lifting. Don’t physically over-exert yourself - you’re still healing.” She glared at him.
“I know, Loony.”
“I know you’re stronger now and everything.” She looked at her feet. “But no running a marathon or a bullsh*t equivalent.” She shunted a glare at Stolas.
Stolas shot up straight and flushed.
“I promise, sweetie.” Blitzø put a hand on her arm. “No race running or whatever for me. Just kicking back on the couch and laying in bed for me.”
Loona squinted at him, then at Stolas. She huffed.
Octavia stifled a laugh.
“Ok. Fine.” Loona nodded at Octavia and she began to form a portal. “You and Stolas go ahead and I’ll meet you at home.”
Stolas beamed. “As long as you’re ok to have me over, Blitzø?”
Blitzø winked and took his hand. Stolas blushed.
“Ok sweetie!” He pulled Stolas over to the portal and turned to wave at the girls. “I love you, Loony! Bye, Via!”
Octavia and Loona looked at each other and grinned.
Wait… I’m not sure I like those smiles… The f*ck?
Octavia finished the portal and the girls shoved their fathers through.
Stolas and Blitzø landed on their asses in the front hall of Stolas’s manor.
“Don’t you DARE go anywhere until you’ve sorted all your sh*t out!” Loona yelled from the other side of the portal.
“Toodles!” Octavia waved teasingly.
Like that the portal was gone. And they were left there on the cold floor, stunned and confused.
“I’m not sure if I should be more proud…” Blitzø turned to look at Stolas. “Or afraid…”
“Hmm.” Stolas responded.
They looked at each other. Blitzø got up and went to the front door. He wasn’t sure what he was looking for, since he didn’t plan on leaving anyway, but when he opened it, he certainly didn’t expect to see what he did.
Millie and Moxxie. They smiled mischievously and waved from across the courtyard. Millie was holding a bat with nails, Moxxie a crossbow.
Stolas poked his head over Blitzø, they looked at each other and slowly backed into the manor and closed the door.
“Guess they mean business, huh?” Blitzø looked up at Stolas.
Just then Blitzø got a text on the spare phone Loona had activated for him while he was in the hospital.
‘Just here to make sure you don’t try and run again!’ Millie wrote.
Cute. Real f*cking cute guys.
Blitzø glared at his phone, tilting the screen so Stolas could read it from behind him.
He sent her back a middle finger.
‘Just want what’s best for y’all’ followed by many hearts and kissy faces.
“It’s kind of your family to care.” Stolas placed his hands on Blitzø’s shoulders and leaned down to kiss him on the cheek.
Blitzø grumbled, tossed the phone on the nearest side table and stomped away, no clear destination in mind.
Stolas easily caught up.
“What’s the matter, darling?”
“I don’t want to be the guy who runs away anymore.” He hunched his shoulders, clenched his fists at his sides and picked up his pace. “I don’t want to be seen as that guy anymore either.”
Stolas caught one of his hands and stopped him.
“Then… Perhaps.” He bent down until their faces were side by side. “You could stop running?”
Blitzø jolted and looked at Stolas.
“I’m…I’m not..” His voice wavered, tears choking in this throat.
Stolas smiled sadly.
“Not very well, I grant you. Your legs ARE very short and you weren’t going very fast...” He trailed off.
Blitzø glared at him.
“But you left me behind, darling.” Stolas squeezed his hand. “I had to follow if I wanted to be a part of whatever you’re going through.”
Blitzø staggered back in horror.
“I’ve been… I can’t believe I…” He looked down at his shaking hands. He started to hyperventilate. “I’ve been running from everything…”
“Darling.” Stolas clasped his hands in his own and knelt before him. “My precious, Blitzø. You don’t need to run. But know that, as long as you want me, I’ll always follow.”
Tears streamed down Blitzø’s face.
I can’t believe it took me so long to let myself love this idiot….
He threw his arms around Stolas’s neck and hugged him tightly.
Stolas held him and whispered little ‘there, there’ s. He quietly cooed deep in his chest, helping to calm Blitzø immensely.
Stolas let Blitzø cry for as long as he needed; ever patient, always kind. He never wanted to let go.
“I don’t want to keep running.” Blitzø sniffled. “I don’t want to be alone anymore… I want to stay… Stay here with you.” He buried his face in Stolas’s feathers, breathing in the familiar smell.
“Then stay.” Stolas held him close. “And I’ll never let you feel alone again.”

I meant to post about this ever since that video was recorded but I slacked off for a while and didn't have the energy. This is about Brandon and the things he said about Octavia and what he thinks about her. This is also a repeat of my reblog of @antivivziepopparade post regarding the same subject so. . .
This is truly disappointing and just plain sad, even for him. Like fr-
And what's crazy is that I watched some of his videos and they made me laugh. I didn't enjoy how vulgar and disturbing they were, but there were still some parts about it that I found funny. Even then, there was something about him that didn't sit right with me. I wasn't sure if it was him totally being cool with making a fool of himself in public for his videos or what (he actually took his clothes off in a public place at one point and got kicked out because of it. I felt so much second hand embarrassment), but I just didn't like him personally. Now that I've seen THIS live video about his comments about this teenage girl, I definitely have all the reasons to not like him as a person.
tumblr
Ummm. . . . EXCUSE YOU??? Like-- Brandon? Mr. Rogers?? I know you know better!! WTF am I hearing??? I honestly can't tell if he was trying to be funny or if he was making a joke, but I don't care, and considering what he said and how he said it, it's no excuse and just downright ignorant and mean.
So he calls her SLUT and COCKBLOCKER. This 17-year-old girl? A minor, who's going through a crisis of neglect from her father? Her dad puts the majority of his focus on the guy he had an affair with instead of her. He sexually flirts with said guy RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER and says that he's the only man that can f**k him right where she can hear it. Cuts her off when she tries to tell him something that could be important, but would rather fuss with his ex-wife he wants nothing to do with. He still puts his focus on Blitzo rather than looking for her when she's lost with the possibility of being in danger. Does Brandon not find any of that the least bit concerning?? (And I don't care that these are fictional characters cuz situations like these happen in real life. Parents who are neglectful of their children? Those exist, believe it or not)
He's seriously dropping names on this minor and saying she sucks cuz she hates his favorite character and is getting in the way of his OTP. . . .
Hate to say it Brandon but. . . .
No--- y'know what? I would love to say this. . . . Brandon, you are just as bad if not worse than Viv and the rest of her dick riding fans who have the same mindset as the both of you.
Brandon: She hates me!
Yeah? SHE HAS EVERY RIGHT TO HATE YOU!! ESPECIALLY NOW!!

In the spirit of fairness, I will talk about one of the bad points of Helluva Boss. Because yes, Helluva Boss does have flaws and problems (not that I complain a lot about them because IT'S A FRIGGIN FREE SHOW - and for someone who is crushed by the economical inflation the concept of "free" is very important), and because, while I do consider that the hater-community of Helluva Boss has started a slippage into "let's cut ourselves from reality" that might end up one day in another Silent Hill Circumcision incident ; I also do consider that among the fans of Helluva Boss there are clearly people who are too immature for the show. Not immature as in "Haha, poop joke", I am speaking of immature as in emotion-wise immature, and also can't split reality from fiction.
... Now that I say this, the problem of confusing reality and fiction IS actually the flaw of both extremes and the reasons things go bad. Anyway.
Today I want to speak about the "Octavia is a cockblocker" moment. Now if you don't know, a LOT of fans got pissed off at Brandon Rogers in a recent interview because he explained his profound disdain of the character of Octavia. He told the interviewer in all honesty that he had told Vivienne Medranno about how he believed the show would have been better with Octavia removed - but the point that really set in flame some of the immature fans is when he described Octavia as simply being a "cock-blocker" when looking at her from the point of view of Blitzo's story. (Because that's another thing people seem to forget, but to be fair the show itself seems to forget it sometimes - this show is(was) meant Blitzo's story. It is called "Helluva Boss" and Blitzo is the Helluva Boss, and on the very first thumbnail it was just Blitzo's face and nobdoy else)
But enough digression. Many people got VERY angry at Brandon Rogers for saying this and called him many things including a "disgusting man" or "garbage" for "calling a 17 years old a cockblocker".
... Already if you are a sane and logical person you notice the first big red flag. Octavia is not a real person. To say that Octavia being called a cock-blocker is a disgusting move because "she is 17" is treating her as if she was a real person. And we have already enough problems with people NOT defending actual real-life minors of flesh and blood, without having delusional people starting to defend fictional characters which are just bits of pixel moving on a screen. Mind you, I do understand where this feeling comes from - because we all remember the DISASTER of the Instagram accounts, and the very reason why they were closed, so of course there is this specific trauma that can be triggered...
But it doesn't remove important facts. Such as how Octavia is a fictional character, or how Brandon Rogers isn't just a voice actor for Helluva Boss, but also one of its writers, and thus he literaly can have the opinion he wants on the characters he works on. I can write a five-year old character in one of my story and still call him, when asked about it, a "little fucker" because I hate him. The real question isn't hether or not I can call him that - it is about whether or not it is justified to call him that. This is a VERY important nuance that a lot of people do not seem to get: creators and writers have the right to call and treat their character however their want, but what is important is what their judgement of said character reveals.
And so let's return to Octavia. Is she a cock-blocker?
Now the question isn't really that either. The thing a lot of people do not get with Brandon Rogers' interviews, mostly because a huge part of the audience of Helluva Boss is NOT aware or familiar with mister Rogers' long, long, LOOONNGG history of Youtube creation (he was doing videos long before some of the HB fans were even BORN) is that he is literaly the "offensive, crude, not for children" Youtube man, who made it a style, persona and trademark of ending a sketch by drinking a cup of cum or shouting swear words in the middle of supermarkets. That, plus as he explains very clearly in the interview, he identifies a lot with Blitzo's character and it does influence his judgement as he considers the story from the point of view of the character he is writing about and for.
All of that being said, "cock-blocker" does mean more than just "cock-blocker": what is being told here is that Octavia only "serves" as a character in relation to Stolas and Blitzo's relationship, and Rogers did very clearly say that all Octavia was doing all the time was "crying for her daddy". Putting aside the poetic words used - it did made me think about Octavia as a character, and... when you think of Octavia from a creator's point of view, she is right.
Putting aside the choice of ~ poetic ~ words, Octavia does indeed suffer from a specific character-writing problem. In fact I myself didn't like very much Octavia ever since her introduction, but I couldn't quite put my finger on why as she seemed like a complete character who didn't do anything specific to annoy me - but Rogers' comment on her role in the show being just a "crying cock-block" made me realize the truth. The reason I dislike Octavia, and what Brandon Rogers was actually conveying through his words, is that she is a "lamp-character".
Octavia only exists as an extension of Stolas' plotline and in relationship to him. She is only important and impactful for Stolas' subplots and little world within the Helluva Boss universe, and she doesn't really impact others around her. Sure, she does have a deeper interaction with Loona... But notice how it is more about Loona interacting with Octavia and influencing her than Octavia actually influencing Loona in any way. The only two episodes Octavia was in, are all about depicting her in light of her relationship with Stolas, and she only ever impacts or interacts with him. Sure, IMPS is dragged along - but more as a secondary consequence, and always by Stolas not so much Octavia herself. Stella doesn't suffer from this problem because, unlike Octavia, she DOES interact and impact the Helluva Boss universe outside of Stolas' character bubble - by being the boss of Striker, thus having her involved in a whole other side of the world.
However Octavia is so walled in and isolated into Stolas' subplot that she fails badly at the "lamp-test". I don't recall the exact name of this test, but it is simply about "Can this character be replaced by a lamp, and will it change anything?" It was originally designed specifically for the writing of female characters - which makes it even more fitting because Helluva Boss does have a problem with female characters.
LooLoo Land: Octavia can be replaced by a lamp and the plot won't change. Stolas has to bring his lamp to the park for whatever reason (maybe he wants to repair it), but in the process he uses this trip as an excuse to have the IMPS, and at the end he almost loses his lamp and someones tries to steal it away from him, but he gets it back and all is fine.
Sure there are emotional scenes and some character interactions - but plot wise, Octavia herself is not important, as she is a narrative tool and plot excuse.
Same thing with the Hollywood episode. Replace the plot with "Stolas loses his lamp, that gets sent to the human world, and he must get it back" - and the episode STILL WORKS.
While some might be offended by Brandon Rogers' comment of Octavia being just a living cock-blocker for the Stolas-Blito relationship that should be removed to make the show better ; he is actually conveyed in his usual offensive way a truth. Octavia only exists as an extension of Stolas' character, feelings and dilema. All she does is cry about missing her father, and so far the two episodes she was in literaly repeat the same plot and dynamic of "Sad girl, gets away, father returns, they bond again". She does not impact the plot in such a meaningful way that she is NEEDED, she can literaly be replaced by a lamp and the narrative wouldn't move, she does not interact meaningfully with any character outside of her father (and yes, the show not exploring Stella's relationship with her daughter is another big hole caused by the unbalance and poor thoughts put into Octavia's character)... Octavia literaly only exists to cry and make Stolas feel bad, and that's it.
Mind you, this post might age badly when the show returns post-October, because we have been teased (and spoiled by the cursed leakers, damned be their souls) of Octavia actually FINALLY having an impactful role that will change the narrative in future episode, so thanks the devils for that! But until then... so far Octavia literaly is a lamp-character that has no real use outside of starting a plot that is not about her, and making Stolas more depressed. Stella is a much more interested, needed and well-written character than Octavia - and yet Stella is far less complex or compelling, and much more superficial than Octavia's character is.
And it is quite a flaw when your one-sided, flat-character of a villain is more essential to your plot than the character you want an audience to feel involved with.

Welcome one and all to the 2023 Tumblr Capital Bastard Showdown!
Tumblr media
A 32-character bracket tournament dedicated to answering the question: "who is the most capitalist bastard in all of fiction?" . Are we voting for our favorites or the biggest bastard of them all? ....yes.
First some ground rules
Absolutely no real people or companies. We get it it’s fun to dunk on people like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, but this tournament is more about escapism. Let’s face it, fictional bastardy is more fun to explore than what’s currently going on in the world. This includes YouTube personalities unless it’s very obviously a character far removed from their actual persona as possible such as Angry Joe’s Corporate Commander or Caddicarus’s Spons. In other words: please no Minecraft SMPs please
Acquisition of wealth doesn’t have to be their sole character motivation, but it helps if it’s still significant enough to their character and so long as they’re willing to do morally questionable things in the name of money they qualify. This is not however the “worst boss” showdown so even though Elias Bouchard was quite a popular submission I‘be been informed by Magnus Archive fans that he’s disqualified since he runs a non-profit.
Similarly “bastard” in this context doesn’t necessarily mean they have to be evil, some might even be protagonists in the stories, as such anti-hero characters are allowed so long as they meet the qualifications of having morally grey at best characterizations and money as a significant motivation. “Bastard” is also gender-neutral.
They have be private citizens in their narrative so monarchs and aristocrats are disqualified.
As per usual, you are allowed to make multiple submissions but you’re only allowed one entry per character.
Propaganda, reblogs, and fan art are fine, just try to be reasonable and not spam too much, and at least accept losses with grace. Even if you “call bullshit” on the results, at least be a good sport about it (ie…this is a Tumblr poll, bro please don’t take this too seriously)
Please feel free to shoot me an ask if you have any genuine questions or spot any potential grey areas, constructive feedback is always appreciated.
Characters That Are Already Included
Because they're way too obvious
Moneybags (Spyro) (likewise our mascot)
Mr. Burns (The Simpsons)
Bryce Tankthrust (Brandon Rogers Extended Universe)
Mom (Futurama)
The Onceler (The Lorax)
Feel free to submit here:
SUBMISSIONS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED
Shameless self promotion: @girlbosswar, @mad-scientist-showdown , @problemgirlbracket , @butler-bracket , @manicpixiedreamgirltournament , @shittycartoonmomshowdown , @umbrellagoblin
The Mods
CFO: @catboy-bill-nye
Please do not try to harass us with propaganda on our main blogs; we have lives outside of our silly Tumblr tournaments

Happy New Years Everyone!! 🎉
It’s the start of a new year. I don’t like making New Year’s resolutions because I can never stick to one thing at a time, especially for an entire year. However, I think I’ll continue to focus on my mental health and continue making personal achievements.
This year has been a really good year for me, especially mentally. A few highlights from 2023:
1. Started a YouTube channel:
* I still have no plans to grow my channel. It’s just something to do for fun. I’m hoping to get better at editing and making my content better.
2. I finally got my driver’s license and made a few small road trips around my home state this past summer
3. Went to Fan Expo in Boston with my friend.
* While at Fan Expo I met the voice actress that voiced the original Dora. The meet and greet was fun, but no one cared about Dora. Basically, Peter Cullen, who voiced Optimus Prime, was about two tables over and his line was backed up. There were a few people who passed by and would excitedly make a comment about “oh it’s Dora!”, but the people would just continue walking by to get in line for Peter Cullen. Overall, Dora wasn’t in a good location. She was placed next to three big names; Richard Horvitz, Brandon Rogers, and Peter Cullen. (I might upload the video that I took in a different post to show the line difference)
4. Got back into re-exploring and trying to write my OC’s:
* Even though there was an attempt at writing something down; I just never finish writing. I’m still not sure if it’s me not liking my writing or if it’s just ADHD procrastination.
* I still enjoy my rather large fictional world and characters, but as an autistic bean I just struggle to get what’s going on inside my head down on paper. My friend sat and read through several lengthy phone texts last last year (2022) that were just about each character, and she introduced me to picrew to at least provide a visual for a few characters.
+I have Pinterest. Maybe I’ll start an OC board for each character to show their likes and such. It’ll definitely provide more options for characters compared to picrew. Also, hoping to cosplay a few characters on my YouTube channel, but that’s still up in the air.
5. Made a Tumblr account:
* I sent a few Ask Questions to some people on Tumblr and even left a comment on other people’s posts…although a few Ask were sent anonymously, and pre-written several times on my phone notes before committing to sending. But with my mild social anxiety, it’s a big step for me, so I’m counting it as a small achievement.
* I even made two mutuals on Tumblr, which are my first two official mutuals, besides my two friends that are on Tumblr. Hopefully, I can make more mutuals on Tumblr. I’m really enjoying meeting people outside the small town that I live in.
6. I also made friends with my friend’s cousin. (Having two Filipino friends, they like throwing parties and hosting. Which is fun, but karaoke is still not an option if you go, even if it’s just three people at the party)
7. I also had a great year in Splatoon. I’m still mostly playing Turf War, and occasionally play anarchy splat zones. Maybe this year I’ll try the other anarchy modes. The other anarchy modes seem pretty straight forward; rainmaker is really the only confusing one.
* I’m still kinda playing Splatoon solo. My friend left me for TF2, and the digital friends that I made through Splatoon mostly only play turf war, and Salmon Run. There’s no way of communicating, so I feel nervous joining anyone during turf war because I don’t know if they already have friends playing, especially if they make a room.
* December was my first time playing some Salmon Run alone. People are much more friendlier and more welcoming than I allow myself to think; both on Splatoon and Tumblr. The team that I was randomly assigned to would just vibe while we all waited for each new round
* I have a personal record in splat zones that I haven’t been able to break since March. My team did lose unfortunately

NEW VIDEO ON BRANDON RODGERS! Please reblog the evidence when you can!
youtube
Brandon Rogers has truly lost his mind in this shocking video. Watch as he struggles to create a single good #helluvaboss #hazbinhotel joke and says some of the worst takes imaginable. A shocking and hilarious watch for the whole squad! Come and see!

Welcome, cumsuckers!
I have noticed the lack of Brandon Rogers content on here and everywhere so I have decided that’s going to have to change.
Regardless of Mr. Rogers videos all being satirical with what at first looks like no ties to our reality despite being placed there, I do not believe that is an excuse for almost no content including fan fiction, edits, and general tomfoolery.
Feel free to request anything.

The Rosscars 2020
Tumblr media
Wow. It’s that time of year again, only this time it’s different because it’s on a blog that no one will read! (hold for applause) Welcome to the first annual online publication for the Rosscars (hold for applause while the reader acknowledges how positively droll it is that I combined my name with “Oscars”). Who can forget such indelible Rosscar memories like when Steven Soderbergh surprised us all and won Best Director for Out of Sight or Bill Irwin’s beautiful speech upon winning Best Supporting Actor for Rachel Getting Married?! The Rosscars mean something different to everyone, but we all know that they mean quality choices made by a committee of one schmuck. This year’s Rosscars are bizarre because in an effort to be more like the Academy guidelines, film’s nominated have been released between January 1, 2020 and February 28, 2021. As usual, theatrical windows be damned, streamers are welcome. Of course, I have my gripes. I like categorizing movies by release year – specifically, when they become available to the plain old public like yours truly – not at festivals, limited runs in NYC and LA. Well, the Oscars are still weeks away and I feel like everybody wants to forget about last year and move onto this one that we’re already three months into - So here are my awards for the films, performers, and craftspeople that stood out in a pretty exceptional year for movies even though distribution was stranger than ever.
Tumblr media
**A few caveats and guidelines to Rosscar newcomers (which I imagine is just a formality since we all know the Rosscars so well)**
The rules and categories are a little different around here. First, not every category is honored directly. That’s for a few reasons, chiefly that I don’t feel qualified to reward the technical categories properly – I suppose I should say that I feel less qualified to do so than the “above the line” categories. In keeping with the Academy standard, there are five nominees in each category, except for Best Picture, Best Non-Fiction/Documentary Feature, and Best Ensemble Cast which allow up to ten. Every category, save those three, will have the possibility of honorable mentions, because I want to highlight some things that just barely missed the cut. The narrowing down of a lot of these categories was awfully tough.
Nominees are listed alphabetically, and the winners are in bold and italics.
Tumblr media
Also, it’s important to keep in mind that I couldn’t see everything (this isn’t a job and it’s still $20 to rent The Father, y’all) and that these are just the opinions of one (self-described) “bozo on the internet.” If you’re a reader and have different picks, feel free to share!
Special Commendations for some things that I want to recognize: • Ludwig Goransson for his Tenet score which is an absolute banger • The costumes of Emma. (Alexandra Byrne), Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (Ann Roth), and Small Axe (Jaqueline Durran, Sinéad Kidao, and Lisa Duncan) all struck me as exceptional • Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross with their scores for both Soul and Mank. Crazy that Pixar is working with the guy who made “Closer” • The cinematography of Da 5 Bloods (Newton Thomas Sigel), First Cow (Christopher Blauvelt), Beanpole (Kseniya Sereda), and A White, White Day (Maria von Hausswolff)
The Rosscars red carpet was, as usual, a bizarre affair. People filed into the theater and it seemed like the only encounters were awkward ones. Vin Diesel showed up in character as Bloodshot, Aaron Sorkin started getting really verbose about what a lovely night it was, and it became clear that most of the celebrities in attendance didn’t read their invitations closely enough to realize that this was not, in fact, the Academy Awards.
Everyone’s seated, and the show is under way. After a medley about the nominees this year by Common and Seth McFarlane that was more corny but clever than it was funny, the first official category is here, and the presenter is none other than... Ross!
Tumblr media

1. Chadwick Boseman for Da 5 Bloods

Tumblr media
Everyone loves a montage. The audience gets comfortable in their seats as the video screens start to show a montage of some of the most famous moments from Hollywood’s most magical movies. Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers waltz, gliding across a dance floor like two hovering angels. There’s a clip of Leo declaring himself king of the world in Titanic, the flying bicycles in ET, Bogart stares longingly into Bacall’s eyes, and then there’s some scene where Tom Cruise rides a motorcycle from 2010′s Knight and Day. The audience all seems confused how that last one got in there. The John Williams music swells as little Kevin McAllister screams when puts on aftershave. We see clips of Robert De Niro in Taxi Driver, Carrie Fisher’s Princess Leia embrace Harrison Ford’s Han Solo, Bruce Lee smoothly declares that boards don’t hit back and... wait... was that a clip from Michel Gondry’s Green Hornet with Seth Rogen? And that’s a clip from What Happens in Vegas... Bad Teacher... Vanilla Sky... Shrek 2... Any Given Sunday... Everyone is flummoxed. The last clip fades out and a sole editing credit appears: Cameron Diaz. The lights come up and there’s some applause, but mostly confused murmurs.
The ceremony has had a bit of a misstep, but nothing it can’t recover from, especially as the next category is announced over the PA, and it looks like the presenter is... Ross!
Best Ensemble Cast:
1. Bacurau
2. Da 5 Bloods
3. Kajillionaire
4. Let Them All Talk

• John Boyega for Small Axe

• Hugh Jackman for Bad Education
• Ingvar Eggert Sigurðsson for A White, White Day
Tumblr media
We have a break in the action and it looks like Darius Rucker has showed up to perform what he would have nominated for Best Original Song. The crowd is absolutely furious as he starts playing a song that apparently was in Trial of the Chicago Seven. An ocean of sonorous boos and curses overtakes the the once docile crowd. The Rock just ripped his chair from out of the ground. Jane Lynch somehow smuggled in a civil war era flintlock pistol that she’s now pointing at the stage! Suddenly, the crowd unifies around what started as a confident chant of one lone audience member - John C Reilly. It’s growing... Ja Ja Ding Dong, Ja Ja Ding Dong, Ja Ja Ding Dong - it’s like the macabre circus performers from Tod Browning’s Freaks, but instead of chanting “Gooble Gobble” they’re clearly pining for Darius to change his tune to the silly and delightful jam from Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga. Darius, scared for his life, leaves the stage, but here come Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams to deliver the goods. Busy Philips and Michelle Williams burst into tears. Tom Hanks nods in approval. A segment saved by brave artists placating a toxic group of fans... we’ve just witnessed a live version of the Snyder Cut, folks.
Jack Nicholson seems completely unfazed, giving a thumbs up to the camera and blowing a kiss to the next presenter. Coming to the stage is... Ross... again...
Best Actress:
1. Jessie Buckley for i’m thinking of ending things
2. Carrie Coon for The Nest
3. Han Ye-ri for Minari
4. Sidney Flanagan for Never Rarely Sometimes Always
5. Vasilisa Perelygina for Beanpole
Honorable Mentions – these cuts were especially painful
• Haley Bennet for Swallow
• Morfydd Clark for Saint Maud

Tumblr media

2. Collective
3. David Byrne’s American Utopia

5. Feels Good Man
6. In & Of Itself
7. The Painter and the Thief
8. Time
Tumblr media
Jimmy Fallon has come out on stage to do a bit about the pandemic and watching movies at home. People are just absolutely not having it. He tries not to laugh at his own jokes while doing what I guess is technically a pretty good impression of Dr. Fauci interviewing James Corden as Martin Scorsese (the less said of this impression, the better) on what is or isn’t cinema. The bit doesn’t track and Fallon is absolutely tanking. The producers cut away from the stage to spare the viewers at home from this monstrosity. We see crowd shots of Millie Bobby Brown shaking her head in dismay, Colin Firth is simultaneously grimacing and trying to stave off laughter, Cynthia Erivo is texting, and director Tom Hooper is taking notes for his next film. Corden yells, “Carpool Karaoke! Remember?!” Ron Howard has fainted. This thing is almost completely off the rails.
Coming back to the stage is the next presenter, a clearly embarrassed... Ross! He’s in a total flop sweat, but stumbles his way through a joke about how Fallon should try co-hosting the Oscars with James Franco sometime. There are scant chuckles throughout a crowd that mostly just wants to see who won and go home.
Best Director:
1. Christopher Nolan for Tenet
2. Spike Lee for Da 5 Bloods
3. Steve McQueen for Small Axe
4. Kelly Reichardt for First Cow
5. Chloé Zhao for Nomadland
Honorable Mentions:
• Kitty Green for The Assistant
• Eliza Hittman for Never Rarely Sometimes Always
• Charlie Kaufman for i'm thinking of ending things
• Thomas Vinterberg for Another Round
Tumblr media
Best Picture
1. Bacurau
2. Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar
3. Da 5 Bloods
4. First Cow
5. i'm thinking of ending things
6. Judas and the Black Messiah
7. Never Rarely Sometimes Always
8. Nomadland
9. Small Axe
10. Tenet
Tumblr media
Accepting the award for best picture is none other than Eve, the cow actor who played the titular First Cow! The audience is enamored with how graceful she looks in her cow gown, and her speech, though indecipherable, is likely simple, observational, and deeply profound for those who speak cow.
Wow, what a ceremony! Hearts were broken, property was damaged, dreams were fulfilled... blood was shed? Damn it, Meryl Streep came in and mugged Charlie Kaufman before absconding with the trophy. Oddly, she’s a previous winner, so the attack isn’t out of need for hardware. People are reading through articles about production on Adaptation for potential motives. Streep made time for a photo opportunity, but remains at large.
Tumblr media
I could go on ad infinitum about all of these nominees and winners themselves and why they did or didn’t make the cut, but that’d be better served in a different piece. For now, my thoughts on most of these can be found on the Best of 2020 write-up and over on my Letterboxd. And, as always, these awards can be revoked and redistributed at will, so don’t get too cozy with that statue, Danny Bilson!
On behalf of the RAOGL (Rosscars Association of One Guy at a Laptop), thanks for reading, and stay tuned as we’re establishing a tip line for anyone has seen Ms. Streep or her stolen valor Rosscar. We’ll see you next year. Keep watching movies, and keep arbitrarily quantifying them in terms of subjective quality!

Echelon Author Interview -- Lolainblue
Echelon Author Interview
Your URL: https://www.tumblr.com/blog/lolainblue
Your name: Missie (Blue is my nickname)
Link to your Masterlist: https://lolainblue.tumblr.com/post/174506158608/masterlist-20
What was your first experience with 30 Seconds to Mars? A friend had bought their first album and brought it over while hanging out. We listened to a few songs, I immediately fell in love. She asked me “Guess who the lead singer is? It's Jordan Catallano!” I was so stunned.
Your Favorite Mars song? I could never pick one. There is one for whatever mood I am in. I love Attack, a lot of the old stuff, Buddha for Mary... They have changed so much over the years but I still love all their sounds.
Has anything ever happened to you solely because of being a 30STM fan? There are people that I met only because of Mars, and friends I have made in the fandom I wouldn't have otherwise.
What is your favorite thing about the fandom? Your least favorite? I think this is a very welcoming, supportive, and open fandom for the most part. It does have certain cliques, which is all right, everyone has their things they're into, but it would be nice if they got along a little better.
Is there any advice you would give to someone who is new to the fandom? Don't get too caught up in rumors. There are some people who are crazy obsessive and love to trash talk. It's a strange combo.
How long have you been writing? Since I was in elementary school.
Why did you start writing? (Either in general or for Mars specifically) I went through a catastrophic health event a few years ago. I found myself stuck at home and mostly bed bound, looking at a slow recovery. I started reading more, and also reading more fanfiction. I restarted my Tumblr account and came across some Mars writers. @thepromiseofanend and @fyeahproudglambert were actually among some of the first writers I read here and very much inspired me to keep writing for the fandom.
Do you write for other fandoms? If so, which ones? I have written for other fandoms in the past but right now the only one I am writing for is Mars.
Do you share everything you write? If not, is there a reason why? No. Not everything I write is Mars related, and some of the pieces I am working on only sporadically and I will share when I have more of them written.
Have you written things that aren't fanfic? If so, could you tell us about those works? I have written plays and screenplays, short stories.. I write a lot I am currently working on a paranormal novel that is original fiction.
Of all your works, which is your favorite and why? I think Fangs and Fairytales is probably my favorite, I love horror and vampires and the paranormal, and it's fun to play with an alternate timeline like that.
Is there one that was particularly difficult to write? Why? There is one I am working on currently that is not yet published that I draw from some difficult personal experiences and struggles. I am not entirely sure I will share it when I am done.
What is the ideal writing environment for you? At your desk? Quiet? Music? I work on my laptop and I prefer to have silence. I can't stand having the television or music on when I am writing. The location doesn't matter much but the silence does. If I can't get silence I will put on headphones with ambient sounds, like thunderstorms. When I was writing the first part of Thunderbirds, I had a site that had cafe sounds that I listened to a lot.
What type of fanfic are you most comfortable writing (drama, fluff, angst, drabbles, series, etc.) I absolutely love to write angst. I torture my characters mercilessly. I also tend towards long pieces.
What is your favorite fanfic trope? Enemies to Friends, Ooops there's only one bed, Mutual Pining
Is there any trope or subject that you won't write? There are certain kinks that I don't care for, and extreme stuff is off the table. Don't make me name them all.
Are there any special tools that you use when creating or writing your story? I use either Open Office for short pieces or Scrivener for longer more structured stories. Grammarly is a lifesaver.
Do you write your story in order or do you jump around and then string it together at the end? Mostly in order. I am a very linear thinker.
Do you outline, or do a great deal of prep work or do you 'fly by the seat of your pants'? I have a general outline and a plan for each story. Some are more detailed than others.
How do you usually get your inspiration? Dreams, music, other stories, movies... I get so many ideas, it's the execution that's an issue more than inspiration.
Do you have ideas on the drawing board or in progress currently that you haven't shared yet? Yes. I have two series that I am working on. One I had originally planned to be ready in a few weeks but due to illness I am behind.
If you have an unpublished work in progress, please pick two to three sentences and share them without context.
Jared assured me however that he was fully prepared, gripping me ever tighter as he pressed me into the upholstered bench seating, no sign of shyness in regards to the driver who was currently ferrying us through damp and intimate back streets. The evening's earlier rain had broken and everything was left looking freshly glazed, colors amplified in reflection. It would have been a lovely drive through the Latin Quarter if he had paused from his advances long enough to look out the window.
Do you like requests? Would you like more or less of them? I love requests but I don't always have time. I have several series I am actively working on for myself, several things in the lab, another collaboration as well as original work. But one of my favorite oneshots (Overtime) came from an anon request. You can always ask. I may not be able to fill it but you can always ask.
Is there an upcoming project from you that you are excited about? Why, and what can you share about it? I am excited about all my writing. There is one piece that won't be coming for a while but it's a new Shannon series with a rather different romantic interest.
The best piece of writing advice you've ever received? Eliminate your inner audience. Whenever we write we have a tendency to think of the people who might be reading it and how they will react. It can limit us from being true and fearless with what we are producing. Write for the characters, focus on the story, and don't mentally allow other people to look over your shoulder. Especially when writing smut.
The worst piece of writing advice you've ever received? For overcoming writer's block: Just sit down and write. If I could do that Karen, I wouldn't be complaining about writer's block.
What piece of advice would you give to someone just starting to write fanfic? Don't worry if you don't get a lot of attention to start. Don't worry if your stories aren't as good as others. Just keep writing and try to make each piece a little better than the last one. Compete against yourself. Your writing will grow and develop as you continue to work and as it does you will find your audience.
Three (stories, series, scenes, etc) written by others that you really like or that inspire you? Only three? I think Save Me by @spillinginkwithlove was probably the thing that truly drew me in. Closer to the Edge (@thepromiseofanend) has my OTP of Mia/Jared. @darklydelicousdesires has my favorite piece of Shannon smut, Double Measures
Are any of your characters closer to being “you” than others? Any reason in particular?  All of my characters have tiny pieces of me in them, whether it's a taste in food or future aspiration. In a lot of ways, I think I'm more Jane than anything, a lot of Jane and Roger’s childhood memories come from my own experience growing up in small towns in Illinois and Indiana -- but there are characters in two pieces I am working on that draw deeply from a lot of my life experiences.
Are any of your characters based on someone you know? Roger (from Thunderbirds) is actually very strongly based on an old boyfriend of mine.
Are any of your plots based on something that happened to you? The upcoming pieces Bodies, Rest and Motion and Mirror Ball both draw strongly on my own personal experiences, although the characters are unique as are the circumstances. The stories aren't autobiographical in any way, I have just drawn on things that I have been through and know to create something that conveys those experiences.
Favorite font for writing? Segoe UI ( In 14pt because I'm blind)
Do you consider yourself a reader outside of fanfic?  Yes. I love to read.
Your favorite book? I don't know about any one book, but I love Brandon Mull, Tad Williams, and Charlaine Harris. Also Poppy Z Brite, Terry Pratchett, so much science fiction and horror.....
Your favorite things to do when you're not writing? I love to cook, watch movies, binge Netflix, hang out with my dogs, play video games and just be with my family.
Two truths and a lie? I owned and ran my own catering company, I lived briefly in Italy, I was the drummer for a punk band
Something surprising about you? My original career ambition (and the college program I started in) was for experimental high energy (particle) physics. I still love science. I am a huge nerd.
Favorite food to enjoy while watching Netflix? Popcorn, of course.
Favorite way to spend a Saturday night? The activity doesn't matter to me as much as the company. I just want to be surrounded by good people. I love a good meal and a card or board game with friends and family. (I love tabletop games and have a small collection. Gloom and Betrayal at House on the Hill are two of my favorites.)
Blankets Tucked or Untucked? Untucked!
Do you have any pets? Would you like to tell us about them? I have two rescued pit bulls that are big love bugs (Twilight and Lokii) and two cats, Coyote and Mayhem. Lokii is the only one that is technically mine (Twilight is my son's dog, and the cats are just household pets) and Lokii never leaves my side. He is very protective and watches over me when I am feeling ill. He is also very goofy and loves to play
Are there any particular battles or struggles in your life you'd like to tell us about? I've been through a lot. I have somehow managed to pick myself up and keep going each time I've been knocked down. You have to keep putting one foot in front of the other, no matter what. There's really no other choice. Just keep going. There's always something good ahead.
Anything you'd like to add? I am horrible at initiation and maintaining friendships. It's mostly an anxiety issue, I feel like I'm annoying people, I think they don't want to talk to me, that they simply tolerate me... I know there are lots of you that can relate to that. Chances are really good that I'd like to talk to you, even if I seem stand-offish or seem to have withdrawn. Please don't ever take it personally. And if we've never talked, well feel free to say hi, or ask me a question. I love to chat, I really do, I'm just bad about keeping things going until I get used to people. I take ridiculously long to get used to people. I guess what I'm saying is I'm a big mess and I have social issues but if you're into that, come chat with me.

Walter Ellis Mosley (born January 12, 1952) is an American novelist, most widely recognized for his crime fiction. He has written a series of best-selling historical mysteries featuring the hard-boiled detective Easy Rawlins, a black private investigator and World War II veteran living in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles; they are perhaps his most popular works.
Personal life
Mosley was born in California. His mother, Ella (née Slatkin), was Jewish and worked as a personnel clerk; her ancestors had immigrated from Russia. His father, Leroy Mosley (1924-1993), was an African American from Louisiana who was a supervising custodian at a Los Angeles public school. He had worked as a clerk in the segregated US army during the Second World War. His parents tried to marry in 1951 but, though the union was legal in California where they were living, no one would give them a marriage license.
He was an only child and ascribes his writing imagination to "an emptiness in my childhood that I filled up with fantasies". For $9.50 a week, Walter Mosley attended the Victory Baptist day school, a private African-American elementary school that held pioneering classes in black history. When he was 12, his parents moved from South Central to more comfortably affluent, working-class west LA. He graduated from Alexander Hamilton High School in 1970. Mosley describes his father as a deep thinker and storyteller, a "black Socrates". His mother encouraged him to read European classics from Dickens and Zola to Camus. He also loves Langston Hughes and Gabriel García Márquez. He was largely raised in a non-political family culture, although there were racial conflicts flaring throughout L.A. at the time. He later became more highly politicised and outspoken about racial inequalities in the US, which are a context of much of his fiction.
He went through a "long-haired hippie" phase, drifting around Santa Cruz and Europe. Mosley dropped out of Goddard College, a liberal arts college in Plainfield, Vermont, and then earned a political science degree at Johnson State College. Abandoning a doctorate in political theory, he started work programming computers. He moved to New York in 1981 and met the dancer and choreographer Joy Kellman, whom he married in 1987. They separated 10 years later and were divorced in 2001. While working for Mobil Oil, Mosley took a writing course at City College in Harlem after being inspired by Alice Walker's book, The Color Purple. One of his tutors there, Edna O'Brien, became a mentor to him and encouraged him, saying: "You're Black, Jewish, with a poor upbringing; there are riches therein."
Mosley still resides in New York City.
Mosley says that he identifies as both African-American and Jewish, with strong feelings for both groups.
Career
Mosley started writing at 34 and has written every day since, penning more than forty books and often publishing two books a year. He has written in a variety of fiction categories, including mystery and afrofuturist science fiction, as well as non-fiction politics. His work has been translated into 21 languages. His direct inspirations include the detective fiction of Dashiell Hammett, Graham Greene and Raymond Chandler. Mosley's fame increased in 1992 when then-presidential candidate Bill Clinton, a fan of murder mysteries, named Mosley as one of his favorite authors. Mosley made publishing history in 1997 by foregoing an advance to give the manuscript of Gone Fishin' to a small, independent publisher, Black Classic Press in Baltimore, run by former Black Panther Paul Coates.
His first published book, Devil in a Blue Dress, was the basis of a 1995 movie starring Denzel Washington. The world premiere of his first play, The Fall of Heaven was staged at the Playhouse in the Park, Cincinnati, Ohio, in January, 2010.
Mosley has served on the board of directors of the National Book Awards.
Mosley is on the board of the TransAfrica Forum.
In 2010, there was a debate in academic literary circles as to whether Mosley's work should be considered Jewish literature. Similar debate has occurred as to whether he should be described as a black author, given his status as a best-selling writer. Mosley has said that he prefers to be called a novelist. He explains his desire to write about "black male heroes" saying "hardly anybody in America has written about black male heroes... There are black male protagonists and black male supporting characters, but nobody else writes about black male heroes.”
