Ticket to Ride is always a pretty good choice. The rules are simple & straightforward - you build routes on your tickets to get points. It has a couple of versions - express ones (Ticket to Ride: London), for 2-3 players (Ticket to Ride: Nordic Countries), standard one (Ticket to Ride Europe) and a looong one (Ticket to Ride: Rails & Sails). I haven’t tried the short ones but you can finish the Europe or USA one in 50 - 60 minutes, the Rails & Sails in 2 hours. Flamecraft is my current favourite. Here you visit shops, collect materials, place dragons and then spend the collected materials to enchant shops. You collect reputation with the town to win. The art is absolutely adorable. Takes up to 60 minutes to finish. Karak is a tiny rpg game - a dungeon crawler where you explore catacombs, fight monsters and collect treasure. Each player has a different adventurer with different abilities. The game end when you slay the dragon and the winner is the player with the most treasure. Takes around 45 minutes to play.
Cat Lady - where you collect cats, toys, food, catnip and costumes. You get points by feeding the cats with the collected food, getting different toys or having the most costumes. Some cats have special point rewarding ‘abilities’ - for example: Get 1 point for every fed white cat. This ones takes only about 20 minutes to play.
I played these in a group of 3 people and we had a blast. :)
Give me board game recommendations pleaae :3
Preferences:
20-60 min playtime
Fun with 3 ppl playing
Relatively easy to explain the rules
We like playing settlers of catan, pandemic, tiny towns

Tim:”you son of a-“ *fighting back*
Jason:*turning over to batmom* “did you switch the dice?”
Batmom: “me? I would neverr, I am responsible…” *scooting backwards away from Damian and Tim knowing damn well she cheated in the game*
*tim and Damian still fighting and dick trying to break them apart but getting caught in the fight and Bruce who left 7 minutes ago knowing this would happen*
Batmom: “look guys I won!”
*all the batkids turning over to her realizing that their own mother was the cheater*
batkids in sync: “HOW COULD YOU?”
Batmom: “how many fuck I give I won so what”

*jason, dick, Bruce, batmom, Damian,Tim, Duke, Stephanie playing uno*
*jason puts +2, Tim puts +4, damian puts +2, duke puts +4, batmom puts +4, eventually after 2 minutes of putting plus cards down Bruce has to draw 90 cards*
Bruce:”you guys are so doing this on purpose” *looking over to batmom giving a “how could you do this to me look”*
batmom: “start picking your cards” *ignoring him by sheer willpower*
*eventually somehow Bruce wins and half the uno cards are cut up and shredded into pieces*
Bruce: “and that shows kids that hard work pays off”
Batmom: *tired of his stupid lecture of a simple game of uno* “shut up nobody care about your cards worry about them kneecaps” *resting her chin on her hand annoyed by bitterness of losing*
Jason: “I guess we know where damian gets the sore loser personality from…”
*the whole room laughing their asses off*
Damian: “shut up todd”

Hi everyone! Welcome to Tabletop Gay-Ventures!
My name is Asunder and I’ve decided to start a blog about the various tabletop roleplaying games I’ve collected over the years. I need to share this with anyone and everyone I can. My overall goal for this page is to share what I know, share opinions, reviews and homebrew. I want to expand people’s tabletop experiences and expand mine as well. I might even talk about other things, like board games or books, or start a youtube channel.
This page will not focus on any edition of Dungeons and Dragons or on Pathfinder 2nd Edition. There are a lot of people who talk about D&D and also good folks who talk about Pathfinder. I want to bring attention to smaller ttrpgs that might be overlooked. Might do Call of Cthulhu, Anima, Overlight, Glitter Hearts, or something else! I have over 100 games and I’m planning to get even more!
I plan to go over each game’s system, setting, overall rules, player options, referee options, design/aesthetic, my opinions, safety tools, and homebrew ideas. Some of these games will be complicated, some will be simple, some won’t even have a game master. Let’s find out which is which together!
Here's a link to my current list of games Here's a link to my lexicon of ttrpg terms
Please reblog and follow me @~@
Shout out to my mentor, Maigen Thomas, for making my pfp and giving me the kick in the butt to do this! You can find her here: https://maigenthomas.com/
Also shout out to my favorite local gamestore, Games of Berkeley! They've been huge in helping me find all kinds of interesting games both new and old. You can find them here: https://www.gamesofberkeley.com/ They deliver!!!
Also also! I made an Instagram. Might post bits of the reviews there or even draw some art and post it on both. Dunno yet! Here's the link: https://www.instagram.com/tabletopgayventures/

okay crafting is probably delayed again I possibly overdid it today and had another flareup of Weird Bad but it did not result in Unexpected Floor Time this time so I think I'm getting better?
#the person behind the yarn#weird bad! it's like regular bad but weird#blood pressure and heart rate are fine but it feels like if I stand up#I will fall down. so I am not standing up#I do feel better than I did an hour and a half ago#this might be mild hyponatremia? because I did eat lunch outside and play a board game#so I was out in the sun and (I assume) sweating and did not remember to take extra salt pills about it#but it could also be blood sugar weirdness because (like last time this happened) I was delayed eating lunch by like an hour and a half#but eating dinner and drinking a sugary beverage did not make me feel better#the way they usually do when it's low blood sugar? like the improvement is usually pretty dang fast#not back to 100% fast but like lightyears better than I was feeling pretty fast once I have sugar#and that did not happen this time. I took some salt pills and I do seem to be doing better as they kick in?#lotta muscle spasms though. not painful ones. just weird#muscle spasms along my cheekbones! not an experience I'd had before and not one I recommend

Here's your excuse to rant about pinescone
Okay-- Okay, this is so ahhh. It's silly but listen!
I was playing Horrified with my family, and I love board games-- so i can totally imagine Dipper and Wirt being into board games-- and Dipper is always pulling out this gameTrying to be all charming and cute and like "Wirttttt- let's play this one" And Wirt usually doesn't mind, but just Dipper being so into this game even though he's probably actually met some of these in real life monsters himself. Though sometimes Wirt fights him on which game to play-- and it's not like in a "No, I'm tired of playing this game Dipper, I wanna play something else" The reason he fights Dipper over this game is because he wants to play this version (the original version)
Because horror movie monsters and book related monsters are Wirt's bread and butter so these two are arguing over which version to play until the next game comes out
And both of them just kind of look at each other like >.> <.< It's the best of both worlds! ....though they do still argue over which version to play sometimes, though if they can't compromise-- Greek Monsters usually is the happy medium and it's a coop game so they're working together and trying different strats, and when they win they get all dorky, and sappy, and mushy (Board games surpisingly bring out a lot of passion)
Anyway, I needed to ramble a little because I have all three games XD
And it's very fun, and this feels so much like Dipper and Wirt's cup of tea and I love the concept of them playing board games together cause you know they do DDMD. Lately, when I've been playing games, I start imagining how Dipper or Wirt would exist in the world-- or what character would they play as-- what weapons/style/class would they pick. Im playing Elden Ring right now with the though of making two separate files that would be based on Wirt and Dipper. Like I just love these two nerds playing games together-- board games or video games. They each have their own favorite genres that the other doesn't like-- but they also do have a lot of similar taste; and sometimes they'll play something their partner really likes because they love their boyfriend and want to make each other happy! They love each other so much! I'm so fucking feral for this goddamn crossover ship--why?! XD
((...That doesn't mean they can't be little shits though.
Lol, imagining Dipper not putting out for Wirt after because they didn't play the one Horrified he wanted to instead, like the little petty bitch he is Wirt: But we won, we always celebrate after a win Dipper: Yeah I know-- I just--- I don't know. I would have felt more excited if we had been stopping Bigfoot-- Wirt is, of course, not going to let his brat get away with this. ))
Anyway, I just-- valentine's day made me want to write more ideas of them playing games together, but I don't know how fun it would be to write characters playing this board/video game in a fic. So to the headcanon pile they go. If I could draw, it probably be easier to draw little sketches of them in the world of the game/their character designs. There are so many dumb little things I think about on a daily with these two.
#Pinescone#Thank you for the asks#I am big nerd right now#Dipper Pines#Wirt#Otgw#Gravity Falls#Horrified Board game#If you haven't played I highly recommend#one of my favorites to play#But yeah these two are kissing and kicking ass at the arcade!#Or on the couch with their homeconsole#My brainrot is still so bad#thank you so much for feeding it

Disney Dreamlight Valley Content Roadmap
(Image from DDV social)
It's going to be busy in the Valley with new Villagers!
And even more busy if one buys the Expansion Pass because the Royal Hourglass can be used in the Valley and in the other Realms to search for hidden treasure! ⏳ And Eternity Isle is just as large as the Valley.
Can't wait to craft and use the Ancient Machines!!! Among other things...
#disney dreamlight valley#ddlv#and a in-game board game to play with Villagers!!!#I won't move Rapunzel and others into the Village until after we defeat Jafar because I want to team up#I still recommend watching the Livestream

the tags on this kind of turned into a weird podcast ramble click see all at your own risk
#my art :D#not meat stuff#well kind of meat stuff but in like the loosest sense fucking ever#acrylic on board#i was listening to an actualplay podcast my bf recommended me while painting this#that sounds irrelevant but i tend to listen to podcasts as opposed to music when i do these giant boards and then accidentally embue#certain parts of the painting with points in the podcast#like oh yeah the top left corner of the red background corresponds to when chaos blackwell showed up#anyway go listen to norfolk wizard game there are five episodes out so far and its really good

kickstarter
A good work colleague of mine has put up a Kickstarter for a sick looking puzzle adventure game with a thick physical manual for the spaceship you’re aboard and an app where you apply the things you’re learning there to fix problems on the ship.
I immediately backed it on the digital tier (as downunder shipping costs are brutal) but I highly recommend a physical copy of you’re in Canada or State-side.
Make sure to go wish them luck and consider backing them! They’ve got a ways to go, but this project has a hell of a lot of potential~

calling all my fellow board game-loving kobolds and dragons and lovers of such, this is a game I just picked up that I LOVE called Flamecraft:
It's a competitive worker replacement and management resource game, it plays somewhat similarly to Lords of Waterdeep if you know that one. Very fun and very cute and it's all about building a town centered around little dragons! 10/10
#kobold thoughts#flamecraft#board game#it might not be for everyone#it is at its core a competitive game that potentially involves sabotaging the other players to win after all#you don't have to play that way but#it's not for every gamer group especially the hyper competitive ones#but it's cute and charming and I heartily recommend it

Cool Board Games for Your Library
Nersha – $30 CAD
Type: Board Game Players: 2 Mechanics: Area Majority/Influence, Grid Movement, Modular Board, Multiple Maps Playtime: 10–25 min Age: 12+ (likely accessible to younger children if they play Chess) Skills You Practice: Strategy
The goal is to lead 3 of your pieces home before your rival. Players take turns sliding 1 of their pieces across the board. There are no captures or jumps, but players' pieces will keep sliding on open tiles if they move in a direction until they would run into something. When you lead a piece home, that's one less piece on the board to block your rival. Every piece on the board may help or halt your progress.
While Nersha has several board layouts that ship with the game, players can decide to change the board or the number of pieces to play with, among other aspects. There are also seven different tile types that can add more complexity to mapmaking.
This game is designed to bridge between casual or abstract games you learn as a kid with daunting games like chess, bringing together all playstyles.
Why it’d be good for a library collection:
Family-friendly
Medium difficulty gameplay
Versatile game difficulty
