Blyth
Finally got my hands on this extremely weird and random Blythe clone that was manufactured by Winn Dixie to sell in their grocery stores in the early 2010's! I've been searching for one for years after seeing them in stores as a teenager, but it's all but impossible to find them anywhere secondhand due to the lack of identifying information on their boxes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love obscure Blythe clones, especially ones with vinyl heads and rooted hair so I have been trying to find one of these for a long time!
This is probably the cheapest and most potentially dangerous doll I've ever seen and I can't believe Winn Dixie got away with manufacturing and selling these lol
Tumblr media
Despite being NIB, the wires in her body are starting to break through the rubber. her bracelets are also made of wires? She comes with a guitar that was clearly made to have a sound box and buttons inside, but it's just a hollow piece of junk and was broken in two halves on arrival.
Out of box and next to my Blythe collection!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Something I didn't notice back in the day is that they come with music boxes in their heads (which are completely unglued and come out entirely with a little tugging)! Mine doesn't work anymore, and the battery compartment is corroded so I didn't bother to fix it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Normally I would have left this doll in her box for preservation purposes, but I see potential in her sculpt and couldn't resist the urge to take her apart and see if anything could be done to elevate her appearance a little bit. I removed her hair, popped out her eyes and removed her eyebrows and tossed her hideous body in the garbage.
Tumblr media
Her head is significantly smaller than a Blythe and the sculpt is missing a few details, but it was definitely based on an actual Blythe sculpt which I find fascinating. Based on the shape of the mouth and the smaller eye holes, I believe this head was based on the EBL sculpt specifically. I popped her head on a Jenny body, gave her a wig and some eyeshadow and stuck some eye putty in her sleep eyes so that I could fix them into a permanent downward gaze because the wide eyes did her no favors:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think she looks cute! You can see the Blythe ancestry in her sculpt but she has her own weird charm. This angle really proves that she was based on an EBL to me:
Tumblr media
Super happy to finally have her and very pleased with how she turned out! Now to pray I find another one to keep NIB.

VISIONS OF MANDALORE DREAM CAST- PT. 2
Hi, I said I was going to do the second part of the dream cast for Visions of Mandalore if it had the chance to become an actual film or show. Anyway, here are the rest of the characters.
Part 1
Qui Gon Jinn interpreted by:
Richard Armitage, Michéal Richardson, or Orlando Bloom
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
***
Pre Vizsla interpreted by:
Kit Connor, Dominic Sessa, or
Tumblr media Tumblr media
***
Here are the older versions of the rest of the characters:
Older Satine Kryze interpreted by:
Saoirse Ronan or Cate Blanchett
Tumblr media Tumblr media
***
Older Obi Wan Kenobi interpreted by:
Ewan McGregor (obviously)
Tumblr media
I literally cannot think of anyone else playing Clone Wars Obi Wan. James Arnold Taylor (Obi Wan's V.A. in the Clone Wars) would've been another option but I don't know. (Lmao)
***
Older Bo Katan Kryze interpreted by:
Katee Sackhoff (obviously) or Cassidy Freeman
Tumblr media Tumblr media
***
Older Pre Vizsla interpreted by:
Tom Felton or Tom Blyth
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I am going to create original characters for this story (especially for the Martial Traditionalists and New Mandos) since I need this story to be centered around politics and include other points of view in the Mandalorian Civil War.
Also, the reason why I did not include Liam Neeson as Qui Gon is because Qui Gon is very young at the time of the Mandalorian Civil War (Keep in mind that there is almost a 10-year gap between the events of this war and The Phantom Menace.)
The next part will include Almec (Satine's evil prime minister in The Clone Wars), Gar Saxon, and other characters that appear in Rebels and Clone Wars which will be in the story.

Ahh found one of those fakie? clone? factory? Blythes at the thrift store for $7.99. I'm so happy. I have always wanted to find a real Blythe in the wild but this is the next best thing 'cause I've never seen the head/face in person and I was really wanting to.
Couldn't wait to get her in the car to have a proper look over.
She even has short green hair! Couldn't have picked better myself.
Wonder how she came to be here? Did someone get her for a kid who outgrew dolls? Or did someone get interested in the doll community and then lose interest?? A million scenarios.
Her body's a little grubby and wobbly but I'm shocked her face and hair are really great for being thrown around the thrift store process.
Well yay! I'm so happy I came out today!

Morning, all! Just wanted to do another quick check-in as I continue to get caught up from the past few days. First of all, thank you and welcome to all the new followers! This is not something I was looking for or expecting, but is much appreciated. We've barely scratched the surface of my collection so far, so I hope you'll stick around for the rest of the excavation XD
A few points have been popping up in replies to my 'doll blog rec' post that I wanted to address:
Not sure what type of dolls you're interested in, but...
The short answer to this is all of them. All the dolls. I've been in this hobby a long time (I'm in my mid 40s and have been collecting seriously for 30+ years), and although the main focus of my collection has prodomentely been fashion dolls, I have at least an academic interest in many other types--antique dolls, vintage 20th c. dolls, porcelain dolls, BJDs, art dolls, haunted dolls--I love seeing and learning about all kinds of dolls, as I never know what might spark a new avenue of research or collecting (I have many of these other kinds of dolls in my collection, they just haven't made it onto the blog yet). So don't let the predominance of fashion dolls in my photos deter you from introducing yourself.
The only hard and fast exception to this is those hyper-realistic baby dolls. Keep those cursed things away from me.
I do a lot of reblogs, not sure if you're ok with that....
I am 100% here for your reblogs :) Not only does it give me a better idea of your personality and aesthetic tastes, it also gives me a chance to see content from other blogs I don't already follow (but may as a result of your sharing!). Reblogs have always been one of the best ways to build community on this site...and tbh if you look at my main blog I am the reblog queen, I'd be kind of a hypocrite for throwing shade on someone else for doing it ;p
I do mostly DIYs...
Here for that too! As a needlework enthusiast who is a mediocre seamstress and reasonably skilled at crochet I frequently dabble in making doll clothing and am always open to learning new crafting skills and techniques, including but not limited to various aspects of doll customization.
Ok I think that's it for now XD Things are still a bit hectic for me offline, but I will continue to catch up with your comments and messages as I can. New doll posts may be slow in the next few days, but once I get my display situation sorted (I need to box up some books to go into storage to clear shelf space) things should pick up a bit.

Dark and stormy day Pepper wtf are you talking about
Also where's Sunil and Russell
WE SEE PEPPER'S OWNER
Of course he has a mustache it just makes sense
Pepper casually got kidnapped 💀
Wait.... WHAT THE FUCK PEPPER WHAT HAPPENED
She's got some insane lore oh my god
Blythe is being like one of those teachers where they ask a question and call on someone who didn't have their hand raised
I love how it's just Vinnie and ✨the gorls✨
Boyfriend number two
Damn Zoe
How did this happen Vinnie
I like how you can hear Pepper say, "Okay, I take it back!"
Minka is technically related to royalty
Also the fact that apparently Pepper is the only one who knew about this
There is so much lore in these pets
The king's just like "Ah, another Tuesday."
The sound affects when their heads turned
Blythe comforting Penny
The fellas are back :D
Everyone looks so lost
Vinnie just told Pepper to shut the fuck up
"Ooooooh that Watering Stone! Got it." ??????
Their voices are so pitched
The goblins are gonna be the boys aren't they
Okay just Vinnie and his clones
"Seriously 🤨"
So elegant
She scored a 62
SUNIL
"Yes I was standing right over there :)"
The goblins all getting a crush on him
"It won't be that bad!" *cuts to them walking through a windy desert*
And then she died. The end
Everyone's grouchy now
The way they're looking at the door
Everyone's so excited
Starts over
Tis Russell

"Well that was convenient!" The sass 💀
Pepper's the fucking crab witch oh my god
"That display case was my mother's!" Pffft
Just be glad they weren't actual actual arrows
The fairies giving her kisses
Oh hi Blythe

I've been wanting a blythe doll so badly recently bruh. In fact ive been wanting the whole family of dolls with big heads that have changing/moving eyes. I have one Dal and i love her to bits, but I would also like Pullip, the boy Pullip, the Dal that doesn't look depressed, ect....
Like even the ones that just have big eyes too, i think. Like i really want to buy one of the 2010s Shibajuku girls dolls, I had one when I was little and I didn't appreciate her enough. I have a few rainbow high dolls. I also want some of the clones! I just want everything like this! It would be so awesome...it would be so cool...
For now I shall stare longingly at my Dal. Maybe I should go to my local consignment shop, where I got the Dal from. The booth she was from also had a J-Doll in it that I really wanted but didn't get because I found a 1998 Jenny friend doll there too, Meilin. I wonder if they'll have some more of the big-eyes big-head type dolls. My little Lipoca Dal was one of two available, the other was a Tweety Bird themed Dal. That one was gone by the next time I visited the store, but this leads me to believe that they have the will to buy more, so maybe they'll have more.
Also been thinking about grinding up some chore money and buying some blythe parts off Aliexpress.

George Villiers 1st Duke of Buckingham in Fiction - a partial summary
CW: discussions of biphobia and homophobia in historical fiction and current historiography.
Feeling both inspired and outraged in equal measure by the upcoming Mary&George series, and having been fascinated with this remarkable man since forever, I have decided to post this partial overview of portrayals of George in fiction. The ones in bold are the ones I have read. Feel free to add to the list.
The Three Musketeers, Alexandre Dumas
The Honey and The Sting, Elizabeth Freemantle
My Queen My Love, E.M Vidal
Cavalier Queen, Fiona Mountain
The Dangerous Kingdom Of Love, Neil Blackmore
The Fallen Angel, Tracy Borman
Wife Of Great Buckingham, Hilda Lewis
Darling Of Kings, P J Womack
The Queens Dwarf, Ella March Chase
The Smallest Man, Frances Owen
The Spanish Match, Brennan Purcell
Captain Alatriste, Arturo Pérez-Reverte
The Cardinal and The Queen, Evelyn Anthony
Earthly Joys, Philippa Gregory
Myself My Enemy, Jean Plaidy
Charles The King, Evelyn Anthony
The Young And Lonely King, Jane Lane
The Fortunes Of Nigel, Walter Scott
The Crowned Lovers, E Barrington
The Minion, Raphael Sabiniti
The Murder In The Tower, Jean Plaidy
A Net For Small Fishes, Lucy Jago
The Arm and the Darkness, Taylor Caldwell
Les Gloires et les perils (?), Robert Merle
And a few Im not so sure about where George is mentioned in passing: .
Viper Wine, Hermionie Eyre
John Saturnalls Feast, Lawrence Norfolk
Rebels and traitors, Lindsay Davis
The Assassin, Ronald Blythe
Some observations, in no particular order:
Novels set mostly in James reign often have George as a rival to Robert Carr and will attempt to foreshadow how much worse he will be compared to Carr.
The ones that feature Henrietta Maria as Protagonist or at least POV character, where George is normally a baddie trying to sabotage HM and Charles I's relationship, and his death is often portrayed as some sort of salvation for HM. In these books George will often be lamed for things which were IRL Charles's fault such as the expulsion of HMs French household in 1626.
Three Musketeers is practically a category in its own right due to all the film/tv adaptions but has had relatively few clones or imitators in English which is something of a surprise
George is only a protagonist in one of these books (Darling of Kings, P J Womack) in the rest he's a cameo or a villain
Rumours that I suspect authors know is nonsense are repeated verbatim such as Tracy Borman's baseless speculation about G offing the Manners brothers, king James, and his rumoured involvement with the occult.
Georges relationships with James and Charles respectively are mentioned but not meaningfully explored. neither are any other personal relationships he had.
The insights and shifts in terms of post 1970s revisionist and post revisionist scholarship esp. Roger Lockyer's bio of George have not found their way into any fiction set in this era. Georges capability as an administrator and manager of patronage is more often than not totally absent.
the general view of George and why he's often shown in such a negative light is pretty much "well, he was willing to god knows what with that dirty old man James; who knows what other depravities he was capable of" and its female authors who really seem to lean into this, which I find fascinating and disturbing.
EDIT (can’t believe I forgot this) George’s murder in 1628 is always the result of some sort of aristocratic conspiracy rather than the act of terrorism it was IRL. I do get why authors do this - the amount of world building and foreshadowing needed to make it seem plausible rather than random in universe. However making it the result of personal grudge rather than ideological violence detracts from why it was so shocking and important.

A little glow-up for my fertility goddess doll, Oon.
Tumblr media
ICY doll (Blythe doll clone) head on an Ali preggo doll body. Her lips colored with Uni paint markers with one layer. Then scraped off the wobbly edges with a toothpick. Not at all the conventional method of doll customizing repaint tools but I got what I got.
I prefer my dolls looking fantastically plastic. For a quick repaint with just painty marker, it's not bad. It's a little thicker and darker than the original lipstick that I wiped off.
Maybe I will invest in an airbrush someday.

Ap 14
Sometimes folks who disagree about chicken sandwiches and oreos can come together to tell a beer company not to market to children and it can make a difference.
And to my queer readers who celebrate Pride remember which brands don't care about you 11 months out of the year.
Tumblr media
Got a suggestion that this mysterious doll from the hoard could be a Vogue Ginny clone. My first thought with the hair was Anne of Green Gables. Could be both.
I like her, I was wanting to get a little Bleuette clone to try and make historic outfits for. But if she wants to live with someone else I won't stop her.
Half possible I might check out a doll show tomorrow. If I go I'll put Xavier in one of the soft backpack carriers. I've never been to a doll show and if I'm going to carry someone around I want it to be a doll I like carrying around. (That's a Dollzone?!)
Remember when BJD people would poo-poo Dollzones? Xavier does. He's beauty green and his head cap says 'I'm here'. He always remembers.
I also have the Blythe carrying bag I can fit a couple of 1/6 scale 'littles' in so if Xavier doesn't feel like going Bram and a friend can.
Now to work thru the thoughts of because I have found something I would like to do something else will come up. My sister isn't here to suddenly decide her horse needs something but we have some important real life things that could.
Eldest daughters in the house!
Going out and doing real life depends on the weather.
Got to remember to wear my leather boots for the sake of wearing my leather boots.

I got my blythe(clone I think 🤔) very first doll, I actually wanted an original blythe, but bro damn they expensive! And I also wanted it to be custom but that's way out of my price range. I'm no collector, but I love this type of doll. Been watching around online videos and review of getting a fake/clone whatever and they so pretty to me. So I decided to get this one. SO CUTE! There's also a doll called Pullip; omg I would like too!!

I’m cracking up at how long it took for someone to vinyl-cast blythe considering how many variations (Icy, Jecci, color change eyes, straight up factory rejects...) there are out there that kind of depend on the gimmick of the eye mechanism and carving abilities of hard plastic. I can’t explain why squishy head Blythe with sleep eyes is so funny, maybe because it’s just so unblythe?

For anyone familiar with my gag series Justice! Excellence! Defense! Intelligence! (J.E.D.I.), I have finally drawn some off-brand clones soldier characters than are important to my story.

This has given me some thoughts. Probably needlessly convoluted but hey, what is tumblr for if not random mental dandruff? Primarily why would Alpha-17, a man who never saw the point of naming himself choose to name cadet? Anyway, moving on.
So there is this nursery rhyme for the day of your birth:
Monday's child is fair of face,
Tuesday's child is full of grace.
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
Thursday's child has far to go.
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child works hard for a living.
And the child that is born on a sabbath day, will be bonny, blythe, good and gay.
The star wars week has 5 days. Primeday, Centaxday, Taungsday, Zhellday and Benduday. So a GFFA version of this would have 5 projected character traits for the day a clone baby was decanted.
A batch is often head cannoned to be a set of 5.
Alpha-17 named his cadets, such as Bly, by the day they were decanted.
The tubie decanted on Benduday will be bonny, blythe, good and gay. Of course I'm now considering who else would be in Bly's batch and who was hatched on which day. Fox is definitely full of woe to my mind. And Cody's full of kicks, so he's definitely Taungsday's tubie. 😜
So apparently according to legends, Alpha-17 himself gave Bly his name! I dont know what it means but it definitely means something
