Reading BlueCatWriter's Dracula along with Dracula Daily

Ok so I've been meaning to read all of @bluecatwriter 's wonderful Dracula hc fics in order for a long time but I never have time to get with it so I decided to read it along with Dracula Daily this year.

If anyone else wants to do the same, here are the dates (or aproximante dates*) for each fic. (idk if someone has done this already but oh well) (BlueCat if you read this feel free to correct me if i got any date wrong)

*(Since there's 2 pre-canon fics and 2 days of may before dd, i'm setting those fics on those dates. Dates of undated fics are also adjusted to not overlap with date of other fics)

*(The order during the varna stay is a bit wacky since the book gets pretty vague for 2 weeks there but I tried to adjust it as well as possible.)

Omg guys it's may already I'm so exited for this. This year I know I will be up do date with everything even tho I'm busy with my End of Degree Project because the dracula fixation i caught last year is a part of my life now I have been planning this so long guys.

Issue #1: "The First Time"

Here is finally is, the first issue of The Deep Blue Dark! This is an experimental comic/writing project about dogs and being trans and murder and a whole lot of other things! I'll be updating it as regularly as I can, since I am still getting used to a digital medium for art. The plot is all original, as is the world that the characters inhabit, but I take plenty of inspiration from works such as Warriors and its many fan-interpretations.

Please do feel free to send me asks as I will always do my best to respond! I love to hear from people who enjoyed my work, and all feedback does motivate me to keep posting.

Oh, also, if it wasn't clear from the first issue, this comic will be getting about as dark as I can personally stomach. Everything will be tagged to the best of my ability, but you've been warned.

- I can write smut as long as it isn’t over the top. Smut writing is a bit new to me, so I can only write mild kinks for now.

- Certain ships aren’t allowed obviously. (Minor/Adult, Incest, Pseudo-Incest, etc)

- In the past, I’ve gotten bizarre requests, so I’m just going to state it here. I can do angst, whump, whatever, but I am not going to blatantly torture the characters in weird/strange ways. I’ve gotten insane shit, so no torture. Physically or mentally.

- Payment. You pay partial up front, half depending on the price, and the rest once I’ve finished and sent it to you. I take Cashapp only. That's all I have.

I got waaaay too attached to my farmer in Stardew Valley that I can't play a new save without them and I also didn't want to just create the same character (It'll confuse me...) but I really wanna try out the meadowlands farm. So instead, I decided to create a storyline in which my dear farmer dies, reincarnates, and proceeds to dye and style their hair in the same way it was in the past life.

Issue #2 is finally out! Kay is beginning to realize the sheer depth of her predicament, and we get to meet a few more Ruin-haunters. With this one out of the way, it's finally time to move forward with all the crazy stuff.

the more i chew over the mercs trilogy from rvb14 the more i think my initial reaction to it was kind of a complete misread actually lol

i had to dig through some old posts to find where i talked about it but initially i approached/read it as showing a pivotal, critical moment in felix and locus's history where they tipped over the line from being This to being That, and in that regard, the episodes are definitely still super fun and charming and Good but they also fall very flat. what exactly was pivotal about that? honestly, not much unless you want to do an insanely close read with some reaching. i guess maybe the whole "surprise, guess we're down to do a ransom and also kill a guy" part but... not really? they definitely murdered n+1 people at the club and are not new to murderizing (eg. the "mason wu, trained killer of men" comment). that was not a moral high ground situation in any way and nothing about it really points to it being The Moment that something changed fundamentally.

but what it was, actually - and i feel silly that i didn't read it like this at first - was honestly just a show that felix and locus did actually come from a place of doing net positives at some point in their lives. and that's not something to be dismissed! the fact that they weren't terrible horrible no-good dirty rotten mercenaries from the day the left active service is really interesting! and the trilogy showcased all of that in a super fun and charming and Good way and sometimes the point is just to show that things used to be different.
