So we’ve all heard of Magic Users avoiding Captain because of Champion of Magic stuff, but what if it was the other way around?
What if, instead of being intimidated by Marvel and thus actively avoid being in his presence, they seek him out, or at least his magic out.
His magic is straight out of the Rock of Eternity, the source of all Magic. For a magic user or being, it would feel like going home.
Whilst every magician has their own magical signature which makes them them, this magic is unfiltered, raw and by all means, pure. So much so it’s blinding, it feels good to be around, and long exposure would bring some effects.
And what if Billy got bad experiences of magic users getting hooked on his magic, that he had to physically keep his distance, or put in wards or magical warnings of those who come too close for no reason.
It could explain why Fawcette has a magical population but not so much many magic users. Magical Creatures are welcome, they themselves are also creatures of magic, and so don’t feel as compelled to seek it out once exposed. If anything, it just makes them nicer to Cap.
Billy has been here since the 50s, and the Champion of Magic has been here longer. It’s entirely possible, even probable that he had to deal with magic users slowly becoming obsessed with his magic. Maybe give him a scenario where he has a mentor who was teaching him magic, and over time, have that mentor loose himself and become obsessive. A mentor he had to fight and later died because he wanted Billy’s magic.
It’s why he only uses magic when necessary.
It’s why he keeps his title a secret.
And why he can’t afford to spend too much time with the JLD, Raven or other magic users he likes. He doesn’t want a repeat of what happened.

What if, in battle against some monsters, where he is begrudgingly working with Black Adam because Adam isn’t going to let the oaf save his country, Billy detransforms due to lack of energy and throws his body in front of a civilian child, shielding her from a blow that he’s convinced will kill him
Only for Black Adam to go feral?
Black Adam doesn’t like the Captain, that is true, however, in that moment he flashes back to his days as a slave, when another slave whom he cared for shielded him with their body, taking the lashes and ultimately dieing from their injuries. And the sight of a battered and broken child trying desperately to be a human shield for a crying child curled up in a ball, trying desperately to soothe them as Billy prepares to be injured and possibly die?
That’s too close to home.
He doesn’t care for the Captain, has no trouble fighting the child turned champion, but this- this isn’t how the Captain is allowed to die.
The monster is obliterated. Billy wakes up being treated by medics under direct orders from Teth Adam not to let him leave and to treat all of his injuries.
After Billy is brought back to Fawcett, they never discuss it again.(And if Billy occasionally asks Black Adam to join him when fighting human traffickers? The general public (and the Justice League) don’t have to know.)

Out of all of the people The Ghost King Phantom expected to relate to, it definitely wasn’t the scrawny red headed photographer of the Daily Planet. Jimmy Olsen has gotten so many temporary superpowers over his time being Superman’s friend. Hell, he once gained a 4th dimensional being’s reality warping abilities when he was given said dimensional being’s powers during a fight. Sure there’s a dozen or so heroes with the same amount of powers he has, but none as suddenly granted to them as a all powerful god that can relate to a teenager.
#bones speaks#hi this is bones in the future: below tags I do mean but I was Not Sober while writing them so they may have severe spelling errors#bones prompts#dpxdc#dp x dc#just google the amount of times Jimmy has had powers and what they are. I just read a comic#where the F PLOT of all things is Jimmy getting superpowers and causing havoc in Metropolis. that’s how frequent this is#the all powerful god powers was in a recent Batman/Superman Worlds Finest issue where he got Mxyzptlk’s powers#like guys. there are SO many heroes that have more powers than Danny in DC.#off the top of the dome I can only name a few (in my defense I am Not Sober so memory is Not Good:)#Raven. The Spectre. Superman. The Atom. Batman (temporary powers). Dr Fate. Martian Manhunter#and I could name more if my memory wasn’t shot rn#this is a mini rant in the tags but I’m so tired of the ‘Danny has so many superpowers it would stump DC’#it would for sure shock them. but they wouldn’t be surprised. why are they all so shocked from Danny’s arrival?#I’ve made many posts about how much more interesting Danny simply being in the JL like it’s just another Tuesday would be interesting#so many folks enjoy the discovery aspect of Danny and not the part where he’s alreaady a JL member and is#*isnt OP. it’s so much more interesting to write a character with flaws. make him regular powered and able to be struck down by a Big Bad#and not just his weaknesses. he’s been beaten to shit by ghosts before. the angst possibilities is crazy.#Billy Batson looking at a kid nearly his age get hurt more and more by Black Adam? Fear Gas setting him on a rampage in Gotham absolutely#destroying his perception of what being safe is anymore. Lex Luther finding his weakness and wrecking his shit#it could be SUCH an interesting direction to take dpxdc but no one does. when I write prompts with those ideas they make a fraction of the#notes of the prompts where I pander and have batfam in them. diversity of ideas in fandom is what makes us strong. keep the new and#unorthodox ideas flowing. it feels like you’re swimming upstream but it’s worth it to help a fandom grow

billy batson was a TEN YEAR OLD CHAMPION OF MAGIC hanging out with SUPERMAN, what on Earth could've possibly happened to him? Why would he ever need to fear for anything? What was he even supposed to do, when the League was rebranded a Regime and Kal asked him for his help? How could anything go wrong, when you are part of the JUSTICE league Regime and you are a child and your friends tell you what they're doing is right? your friends, the justice league regime, who have been ingrained into your brain as HEROES. And you are a child, and they are ADULTS. And you're supposed to TRUST adults, and if you ever need something, you're meant to go to the ADULTS. What do you do, Billy Batson? How were you meant to see His hands reaching forward, to grab your throat? How were you supposed to see your Death????

the only reason I hc billy as an emancipated minor is literally just so that mary can still live with the bromfields and freddy can be fostered by the vasquez family. so rosa and nora have no actual relation to each other or have the rights to tell billy what to do but theyll pick him up for school and have extra bedding and a toothbrush saved for sleepovers and knuckle down his head (rosa) and fix his collar (nora) and. will pick up a household object and swing harder than any mlb player could trying to protect him faster than he can blink

guysss... the concept of trans billy...
imagine both the gender euphoria AND dysphoria he'd get from being captain marvel...
like one hand, yay he's a cis man!! everyone knows him as a man! no one knows he's actually a trans kid. even the GODS see him as a man, they made him biologically male! he feels right in his body for once in his life.
but on the other hand, he believes he may not ever get to look like captain marvel. and that really he's still born a female, captain marvel was a gift from the gods, but he cant really live his life forever as him.
this'd get worse as he got older, probably not looking anything like captain marvel.

Thought of the day;
Captain Marvel being an insidious part of Billy’s life.
Like… in the older whiz comics he was his own entity, just tied to Billy. Had his own separate thoughts, goals, and desires that just happened to mix with Billys like they were overlapping on every possible level
Captain Marvel wants to be human, he wants that simple suburban life freaking canonically in a Whiz comic. He wants to garden and go to work and gossip with the neighbors and walk his dog and he wants to be real. And if they really are their own person, if they really are different people willingly switching spots in existence, what’s to say Marvel just chooses to remain one day?

I was reading "SHAZAM To hell and back" and the part that really stuck with me was Billy not wanting to grow up/his fear to growing up too fast and being stuck as Cap one day so likee
Give me a fic where Cap joins the league and he's happy and excitable and charming as he should be but also not very personal, he doesn't tell people things about himself, he doesn't join in conversations about hobbies, ect. Then give me Billy warming up to these people he's known for so long now and letting things slip, let him get more and more concerned about growing up too fast as he grows up and have him try live his childhood as best he can even when he's Cap. Let him finally be comfortable--
Then crush him <333 one person in the league makes a lighthearted comment and don't notice how he reacts, someone else scolds him to being too childish and they don't see him for a week, naturally they're angry at him for reacting so strongly, no the one who scolded him, let this go in and on until 15 Yr old Billy has had enough and transforms in the middle of a very pointed meeting, make this small, dirty child glare at everyone who'd ever commented on how he acted and leave.
If I was writing this (which I honestly might do) I'd probably end it there and leave it open but I'm interested to see if anyone has any ideas <333

Billy Batson related question, as always! How do you think the League would react to Black Adam knowing who the Captain is, especially when they don’t even know? (The relationship between Billy and Teth doesn’t matter, they could be allies or enemies).
Billy Batson related questions are my personal favorites!
The idea of the Justice League not knowing who Captain Marvel's secret identity is always makes me giggle :D it's the layer of mystery and unknown danger that presents itself behind not knowing who the Big Red Cheese is that keeps them on edge sometimes. They admire their friend, but sometimes they do wonder, are they his friend? What is he? An alien? A human? A monster beneath the disguise of a man? Three kobolds in a trenchcoat? Nobody knows... They do wish to get to know their friend better.
Normally, most league members have their secret identities kept, you know, a secret. With the exception that Batman knows, of course. However, even he remains stumped on this mystery. He doesn't enjoy not knowing who Captain Marvel is behind the boy scout smile he often shines, but Batman is determined to find out one day. There's almost some respect for how well the Captain manages to hide his identity and tracks.
Meanwhile, Billy is surprised he's lasted this long with a secret identity. He's working with a braincell, half an oreo cookie, and a dream.
I got sidetracked, ack! Okay, so the relationship (depending on which version of Captain Marvel and Black Adam you are familiar with) is almost always going to be personal. There's their shared relationship with the wizard Shazam, but the one I'm most familiar with and enjoy is Black Adam being the one to have killed Billy's parents. (Also, I appreciate you separating the identity of Black Adam and Teth!)
It would be absolutely amazing and gutwrenching to see Captain Marvel shake hands with a "reformed" Black Adam, possibly during a public setting with the JL in attendance, fully knowing the truth behind his parents murders and still going through with the painful decision to let him go unpunished.
For Billy, this hurts. On a deep level that scars his heart and soul for allowing his parents deaths to go unavenged. For the years of pain, he spent alone on the streets homeless and separated from his twin sister, none of it can be fully healed no matter how hard he tries to forget. Scars fade over time, but to Billy, time is eternity. This pain will follow him for eternity.
However, as Captain Marvel, he understands that there's more to the situation that he can't control, and fighting Black Adam would only make things worse. With the wisdom of Solomon, he knows he can't justify a fight against the ruler of a nation, no matter what. So he just smiles for the camera and shakes the hand of the man who orphaned him.
It is through holding Black Adam's hand that the thought passes through his mind: the hand he's holding right now was once stained with the blood of his parents.
Then, the heroes are given a moment of privacy to be around each other without the public's eyes or ears to interfere, and that's when **** hits the fan.
Captain Marvel is avoiding Black Adam, understandably, but when Black Adam loudly calls out his name among the other heroes, Billy can't help but feel rage boil inside his divine blood.
"William. I thought you knew better than to ignore others when they're trying to talk to you. Such rudeness, I am most glad your parents were not the ones to raise such behavior in you."
Whispers among the league ensues. Was that the Captain's name? Did Black Adam know Captain Marvel on a personal level rather than just a regular hero and nemesis level? Despite the eyes watching them, waiting and prepared to step in case of a fight, the Captain grits his teeth and, through miserable eyes of a broken man, chooses to smile.
"Yeah, they really were good people, Adam. I may not live up to their expectations, but I do live for them. Every day. I suppose I have you to thank for that."
"Your gratitude is most welcome, William. May one day come where you live for Mary and Frederick, as well. They would appreciate you honoring them."
Through a wicked smile, Black Adam chuckles, turning his back to take his leave back to Khandak. Leaving Captain Marvel still smiling all alone, his fists at his side curled with rage, drawing his own divine blood from the intensity of his own strength.
After that, the league would be in all rumors and whispers about Captain Marvel. From the past, they knew that Black Adam was fond of taunting the Captain with strange and mean words during their harrowing battles, but had it all been a personal dig at him all this time? Did Black Adam have a hand in accidentally giving Captain Marvel the motivation to become a hero?
Superheroes like Batman would immediately be looking into any information they learned from this and try to decipher what is the truth behind the Captain. Or should he say, "William," now having a name to the face of the hero of Fawcett. He would also be investigating Black Adam far more closely now, should the reformed man ever step out of line. If he heard right and Black Adam had indeed killed the Captain's parents, then he needed to keep an eye on Captain Marvel, too. In case of a breakdown or instability in emotions.
On the other hand, heroes like the Flash and Superman would take the time to visit the Captain in his city and check on him. They'd be concerned after seeing how pained Captain Marvel was. If a villain like Black Adam knew who the Captain was and specifically chose not to reveal his true identity to the public and just the Justice League, then perhaps there was more to it. Superman knew as well how painful it was to let a guilty man go free because he was deemed "reformed" in the eyes of the public (Lex Luthor, ew).
Overall, there would be a whole range of emotions after finding out Black Adam knows who Captain Marvel is. And I am here for it!

You know, I think there’s a part of Billy that’s grateful that CC hasn’t been found yet.
And yes, I am of the full belief that CC was caved in and suffocated to death in the dig site in Egypt. Anyone who knows me knows that I live for Batson family angst. It’s like a drug. Deal with it🤩.
Obviously Billy is crushed that when he goes to his dad’s grave, he’s just talking to a stone slab with his name on it. And obviously he doesn’t want his dad buried under all that rubble. But things change.
Soon, he thinks of what CC may look like after years of…that. How his body looks. Need I say more? And it gets even worse when he becomes Cap. Because he’s gotten so used to seeing his dad on screen, in that costume, perfectly fine. It’s easy to pretend that he’s alive and he’s coming home soon after w long days work.
But he’s not. And Billy isn’t completely ready for that illusion to end.
When he’s older, the guilt is overwhelming. Because now he doesn’t have much of a good reason other than he doesn’t want to see another dead body. Much less one he knows. He doesn’t want to see all the gruesome details, and he doesn’t want to look so disgusted that he turns away. Disgusted of his own FATHER.
I have much more I wanna say about CC Batson dying in that cave, but I want more content for you guys, so I’ll leave it at that.

Hey!!
A fanfic idea haven't written yet:
Victor and Rosa know something is up with their kids but don't know what. They are sneaking out, lying (badly), and conspiring together. It would be a series of events where each member of the Shazamily does something strange because they are hiding the fact that they have powers/are superheroes. It would be kinda outsider POV since Victor and Rosa don't know about the superhero stuff. They come up with increasingly wild theories about what's going on, worried beyond belief about what happening.
For instance they think Billy ran away because he didn't come home for 3 days (he was off planet with the JL) or they think Mary has a secret boyfriend/girlfriend because she's constantly "going to meet a friend" that she won't name.
It would end with the kids officially telling them about their powers (in a suitably dramatic fashion) and everything starts to fall into place.

Thinking of if Captain Marvel (Shazam) turned (sorta) evil and how that would happen.
I can’t actually see him going full evil cause Billy to me is a little ball of sunshine. But in the end he is a child therefore is more vulnerable than any of the adults.
So I can see revenge driving him to kill a villain, not inherently turning him evil, but definitely against his morals.
What if somebody kills someone close to him? What if he is forced to finally see the evil side of the world that even the adults can’t always handle? If he were to have a villain arc it wouldn’t be black and white. He’d be driven to do things by corruption and the idea that he was protecting someone else.
Billy is good, but in the end he is also a vulnerable child who has been given a great power that shows him the hidden evils of a world that has already done him so wrong. He doesn’t have the judgement of an adult as Billy, maybe he might as Captain Marvel with the wisdom of Solomon, but he’s also Billy half of the time.
Idk my brain is just making me sad thinking of a world where Billy was given to much power for his mental health to handle and then someone close to him was killed, nudging him off the edge into a pit of grief and revenge.
