The Justice League forms after a particular bad earthquake across the east coast, with a few of the team members travling across the country just to help Gothamites only to realize theyre all very like minded and dedicated to helping.

Diana and Clark are figher fighters, Bruce is an EMT, etc etc. They all start volunteering their time to their little group, hiring on more folks to help across the nation. Including a mysterious guy going by Captain Marvel. Marvel is purely online, calling in disasters as a sort of first line of information. The League jokes hes magical and a prophet or something. But they've never actually seen or spoken to the guy outside calls where's it's obvious hes using a voice changer. He info is reliable and he does want to help too, but its weird.

Eventually, Bruce figures out the IP and traces the calls or whatever tech stuff, and he finds out it's from a laptop in Fawcett City, specifically inside a family home full of foster children. Bruce catches Billy Batson red-handed being the one behind Captain Marvel. Of course, he scolds Billy for being so flippant with his online safety, but Billy reveals his entire foster family is in on it, and THATS how he always had up to date and reliable info. He had 5 kids, including himself, taking shifts to track disasters and accidents.

really random post but it's 2am and I'm fixated about having an ecosystem in a jar. what if billy batson had a small ecosystem in a jar(jarrarium or terrarium. up to you) infront of the only non cracked window when the sun's out in his apartment because he doesn't want them to be cold. What if he carried it around into town when he couldn't stay anywhere in particular somedays

what if billys jar kept molding and didn't know why until mary or solomon had to point out that he didn't add a specific thing or he didn't do something right and he's like " shucks 💔 "

C’mon guys!! Please, Billy is definitely covered in wasted potential—this isn’t even all of it. They made him such a powerful character with such a significant role that affects EVERYTHING, but then kill him off and nothing goes wrong?? Like they needed a Champion of Magic to make sure magic stays balanced or something, which is why Shazam needs to make Billy the Champion before he dies (and why he didn’t just let the position stay vacant) then when later on Billy is killed…and everything’s alright somehow?? So then what’s the point of Shazam needing to chose Billy if everything’s alright when there’s no Champion?? They missed what could happen to magic afterwards, who becomes Champion and if it does go back to Black Adam, and what would he do with that power when he quite actually had that power ripped from him as he was sealed away for all the evil he caused. (Or what if Billy’s siblings got it? —If DC ever made them relevant that is…)

Also note: They literally forget him and his lore in the narrative everytime, also they lost the rights to his name, benched him, turned his loving mother and father into people who abandonded him, took away the part of him getting his powers because he was pure of heart since him being good was “boring” (even though I can definitely argue that’s something that makes his character so interesting), made him not even special for getting his powers to be just a last resort, and turned his magical town into Philadelphia.

Please, just consider this 😭 He’s most definitely full of wasted potential…

Soft but Harsh

Captain marvel is presented as a soft, gently, kind and everything nice to all heros and society but to those who is trained or is a magic user usually uses some word that aren't used to describe Captain marvel. Like one time a hero talked to one of the magic users and asked them more about how Captain is with them and all or about some training and what they got for response was "harsh", "scary", "terrifying" and other more descriptions. But a full respond mostly came like this:

Random hero: Hey (Magic user name), I have a quick question to ask.

Magic user: Oh really, what is it?

Random hero: How do you feel to be trained/know Captain marvel? I bet you, he was all sunshine and rainbow. He is a total bigger boy scout than Superman. You must have had so much fun, huh?

Magic user: *As they heard Captain marvel name, they crossed their arms around their them self as they felt a shiver down their spin, sweat started to roll down their forehead as they slowly turn their head down and to the side way* ... I-It was interesting...

Random hero: *They keep on babbling about how good Captain marvel was to them but they looked at the magic user and saw their expressions and stoped talking and put their arm into the magic user shoulder* You okay? You look... a bit pale when I mentioned Cap-

Magic user: *They interrupted the hero and started to mumble* Yes I am.. but Captain marvel can be... Is a interesting being... If felt like I was back in the military.

Random hero: Huh what you mean?

Magic user: W-well you see during are "training" together, he taught me to never... when I mean never I mean never trust when you first meet and he also pushed me off a cliff as he yell at me as we both fell down to the water tell I could do some necessary spell.. oh and when he was teaching someone how to use something he always make some elaborate plan to make us feel like we are being tortured 24/7. *Trama dumps about his experience with Captain marvel and things he saw and heard from other unfortunate souls*

I really need to see Billy, child of Fawcett, The magic city, using magic first asking questions later.

Like give me a Batfam adoption fic where billy is terrified of his Gotham family knowing he has magic because Batman *hates* magic and metas, and he doesn't know if other gothamites share the same sentiments.

I really want to see a bruce has to reveal he is Batman before they realize Billy has magic, and billy is just terrified.

"Oh my gods the man who *hates* magic is my adoptive father, there is no possible way he or his family could accept magic into their household" type thoughts, he is completely spiraling and bruce, trying his hardest, reaches out to comfort him.

Billy of course reacts badly, he is used to Fawcett foster families knowing about magic and given his track record of disappearing, most believe he has magic.

If billy wants to escape he has to act fast and act now. If he falters even a second a ward could be placed against him and he will have to fight tooth and nail to escape again. He won't be locked up again.

He throws his hands up as if to block a strike, chants a single incantation, and is gone in a glorious golden spiral. Leaving behind nothing but the last remnants of his too fast breathing and a well-worn backpack that will have nothing in it come morning.

billy batson au/scenario where billy gets caught up in an incident as billy himself and his only way to not literally BLEED OUT and DIE is to transform back as captain marvel (And chooses to stay as him. how will he survive if he detransforms back anyways? he can't risk it yet,)

So. times go by, captain marvel hasn't detransformed in maybe a month or two and it's sorta? starting to affect billys own body for some reason. But not enough for the kid to die,, And then , in one of the missions that most of the main justice league members have to join in, a magical rune/spell/whatever is casted onto them to show the day all of them will individually die (with diana and superman probably having the most amount of time out of everyone, and with batman surprisingly having 31:19:03 years, hours and minutes to his name left(yeah, even batman himself was rather surprised at that)) for the thrill of it.

but, it isn't fate, they could still survive if they change any little thing. if they get help or not. it's not set in stone!!

and so to show that one of the timers could go off at any moment. Like. some of the timers just cut to zero even if there were a few more years to its name and they'll immediately kick the bucket. or like their heads explode. and their lives r on a gamble to hope that their own timers won't get chosen to be the next to be resetted. so all of their timers start ticking, as they fight their way through the battle they're fighting in

even after they win, the timers don't go away , so they're up in the watchtower, the annoying tick of each minute getting louder and louder in their ears, and having a meeting until they realize

captains timer is only ones that isn't ticking? so they look over to cm's timer and see,

00:00:04. Four minutes left. what? why is he literally almost on deaths door? metaphorically. I mean

but thats not all, it's not even going down. minute after minute, it's like it's stuck in stasis which is .. weird???? and like captain is sorta sweating bullets because like oooooh crumbs. Oh gods

Can we stop making everything about Batman/Batfam? Especially to the point that the other character and their part in the media, is pushed aside to make room for (a/the) Batfamily. ((Long post under cut))

If the profile picture didn't already give it away, yes, I have Shazam/Captain Marvel in mind while writing this.

His entire collection is flooded with Batfam works. I’m not against writing him interacting with the Batfamily, but all of the works are about him being used as someone who is basically going to or needing to become a part of Batman’s gaggle of orphans. Not him as a separate character with his own lore and really anything more than a plot point. Billy has siblings, a talking tiger, a magical city, a job, a superhero life and SO much more. But none of that is really expanded on (let alone added), unless it’s convenient in “Billy becomes a Batfam” fic. They don’t demonstrate his character on its own, he has to be portrayed in a way that makes him seem inevitably a part of the Batfamily, never just his regular self. (or with his own media or fine on his own.)

I would understand, but I’ve seen so many cases where a Batfamily member just straight up replaces a Shazam/Captain Marvel character. It just seems like a Billy fic can’t not be about the Batfamily in an essential way. To the point he’s treated like a random character they can just drop in to a Batfam centric work and not include much of anything about him and still treat it like a Shazam fanwork. There were so many times where Billy’s media could have been used or included and just wasn’t in place of Batman media.

My opinion may be very biased, but to me it just feels like they’re taking over all of his fan portrayals in the fandom without even including his lore, other characters, and correct depiction.

(No, I am not asking you to write him 100% accurate, but at least try to show that he’s his own character and not some drag-and-drop black hair orphan that needs to be saved, because that is not his character.)

I will admit I am upset, it seems like the only time his character is used is to be added into a work about Batman and his potential as a Bat. But he has his own media too, which goes unused or pushed aside to make him helpless in Gotham and in need of Batman to take him and protect him or show him “the true meaning of family” when:

A) Billy is self reliant, he’s got a job, an apartment in some cannons, and his own family. He is not helpless, he does not need to be saved by someone. He is a powerhouse of a superhero for one, the golden age comics tell a lot for two, and he’s been homeless or living alone managing himself in every cannon that has him without a foster family for three.

B) He has trust issues against adults and is also against the foster system. He is a consistent runaway from foster homes as well. But still, he found a way to love his own family. He does not need a new one to show him that or to adopt him.

C) He has his own family. He has Mary Batson/Broomfield, his sister; Freddy Freeman, his brother; and more if we include the Vasquez: Darla, Pedro, Eugene, Rosa and Victor. (We could also include Uncle Dudley, his Fawcett-based relative.) Billy already knows the true meaning of family and he has one. Even if we don’t count the Vasquez, we still have Mary, Freddy and Dudley; who are all major parts of his lore/character consistently. To get rid of all of them, is to remove large parts of his lore. It also, to me, is very odd to cut out his own family to give him a new one to show him love.

Anyways, what I mean is that he’s really only been written recently as someone a part of the Batman franchise, but he isn’t. That trope is fine, BUT, it’s almost the only time he is written and that is not the only part of his character or media. It makes it feel like that his only role is to be a part of the Batfamily when in reality that’s kinda getting rid of his character.

I hate to put it like this because I don’t want to make people feel bad about what they’re writing and enjoying, but it’s like those fics are taking over the Shazam fandom, and not even making it about Billy while doing it.
