Their reaction when you give them your number
Some headcanons!
SFW GN Reader Chars: Ace, Robin, Marco, Kid, Killer, Buggy
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ace
He’s been flirting back and forth with you the entire time you’ve been working. He came in for his brother's friend's birthday but has spent more time talking to you and honestly? You didn’t mind. He was cute, funny, and very sweet. His flirting was a little awkward at times, you guessed as handsome as he was he had some self-esteem issues. But the more you talked with Ace the more his confidence grew.
It was late and pretty quiet, he chatted to you about his brothers as he leaned on the bar, you cleaned and got ready to close, just enjoying his voice, and how genuinely caring he seemed. It was then you grabbed a piece of paper, wrote your number on it, and slid it across the bar.
“What’s that? How much of a tab did me and those idiots wrack up
” He hummed and flipped the paper over, his eyes widened and his eyebrows shot up when he saw the number. You couldn't help the sly smile on your face when you could see the blush on his cheeks, even in the low light of the bar.
You sure hoped he’d call. He chuckled and put it in his pocket, trying to act cool about it even with his cheeks on fire.
Tumblr media
Robin
She had to have been the most beautiful woman to have ever set foot in your store. The way she walked around in her summer dress, the fabric flowy in the breeze, the way she tucked her hair behind her ear as she picked up a huge heavy book, her eyes scanning each with a smile on her lips.
You felt entranced and intimidated by her in equal measure. Each movement was poised and elegant. She glanced over her shoulder and saw you staring at her, the sparkle of mischief in her eyes reached the sly smirk.
Grabbing an arm full of books so big you could murder a man with she set them down on the counter and you had to try and remember how to talk again. “Is it okay if I buy a coffee and read one of these?” You nodded, she could have robbed you and you would have thanked her.
As she paid for her books you quickly wrote your number on a note and slipped it in one of the books as you placed it in a bag for her. She bought her coffee and books and sat down on one of the big armchairs. You gripped the edge of the counter when you noticed she went right for the book you’d put your number in.
Robin saw the piece of paper and shot you the most wickedly sinful smile you felt your heart would explode.
Tumblr media
Marco
He came into your work at least once a week, maybe more, and his order was always the same. He was a creature of habit but never boring. You always stood and chatted with him between his order and bringing it to him. He was polite and handsome and always had this lazy smile on his face that you found yourself looking forward to seeing.
Marco always had a kind word for you, would comment on your hair, how you wore it that day, how your new shirt was nice and suited you. He was full of compliments but he never came across as creepy. You adored his voice, his laugh, and how he always had a crazy story about his friends.
You felt like you knew them.
One night he came in with some of those said friends, a rowdy bunch but just like him, polite and chatty. You set down the tray of drinks and Marco leaned back in his seat taking his. “They make the best drinks, it’s why I come back all the time,” Marco said before sipping his drink.
“Yeah, right, that's the only reason.” Thatch teased and got a nudge. You didn’t know what the man meant by that but Marco met your eye and gave you a sheepish smile.
The group all started to leave and the man with the big hair, Thatch, came over to pay the bill. “Hey, I think you and Marco might have a sweet spot for one another, sorry if I’m misreading that but
maybe you could give me your number, to pass on?”
You blinked, processing what he was asking before grabbing a coaster and writing it on. Thatch paid and practically ran to Marco and brandished the coaster at him. “Got you a present!” Marco looked at it, then back at you. You watched as the smirk on his face grew and he placed it in his pocket.
Tumblr media
Kidd
His entire group was loud but you didn’t mind. You were used to his sort coming to this bar, parking their motorbikes outside, and stomping into the bar with their heavy boots and loud voices. They’d been polite enough to you though.
Serving them rounds of beers when they raised their hands, always paying. You knew this group pretty well by now. The red-haired man who was the leader spoke with you casually. He leaned on the bar and laughed at jokes and comments yelled over the room at him.
“Got anything fun planned this weekend?” You asked as you handed him another beer, he took a swig before thanking you. You could see him thinking over your question, you always had a feeling he and his gang got up to all sorts. Maybe he was debating on what he could tell you.
“Nah, unless you wanna finally fess up to being into me an’ wanna hang.” He said, the smirk on his painted lips, showing his teeth. He was cocky and overconfident but God daaamn did it work.
“What makes you think I’m into you?” You asked, well, he was right but still.
“Babe, I just know, so gunna give me your number or do I have to beg?” Kidd asked with a gleam in his eyes. You loved feeling you had all the power in this situation. You met his eye before ripping off a piece of a poster hanging up behind you and putting your number on.
“You don’t have to beg, this time.” You chuckled and handed it to him. He laughed loudly and put it in his jacket pocket, looking smug.
He’d won.
Tumblr media
Killer
Killer came into your shop every other week, always for something for his bike. It could be a check-up, a new decal, a sticker or just to get someone to clean it. He was a man of few words but he was pleasant to be around. His small talk was never dull or seemed forced, he enjoyed hearing your stories and learning about you.
Sometimes you even got to hear his voice, get to learn about his life; How he was part of a group who drove around together. You were very intrigued by him. The way he’d take off his helmet and all that blonde hair would come tumbling out, you could have sworn the world become slow motion whenever he did that.
He was gorgeous.
“Going for a drive this weekend?” You asked when he set down his helmet, one of the mechanics working on his bike already. He shook his head “Just thought I heard something when I’d started her,” he said and stared across the room.
Killer didn’t leave, didn’t go for a walk, instead while his bike was being checked he simply stood and talked to you. It was nice, he was a good guy. The mechanic came in and handed you the paperwork. You looked it over.
“Good news! The small issue has been fixed and since your in here all the time we won’t charge the normal rate,” your heart was beating when you sneakily wrote your number on the paper and handed it to him.
He said his goodbyes and walked away, reading over the paper before he noticed the number, he turned and looked at you. Wordlessly, effortlessly cool he just gave you the thumbs up and grinned.
Tumblr media
Buggy
He was a strange guy, how he seemed to think he was so slick every time he came in. Acting like this wasn’t the 18th time he’d been in this week. He was strange, sure, but he was cute and no one had made you laugh so much. Sometimes you didn’t think he meant to be funny on purpose, his charm was just a silly guy.
But as goofy as he came across he was still unreasonably handsome and had his own brand of charisma that had you so taken with him. He came in on his way back from work and asked for his regular order, which you knew by heart now.
He would go on about his day, complaining about someone called Shanks that he worked with. The way he told his stories was so over the top and so hilarious that you couldn’t help but stand there chuckling and hanging on to his every word.
“So yeah, that dickhead set me back like 20 minutes.” He mumbled and sipped his shake, eating a few fries “Well, hopefully, your weekend will be better.” you said as you refilled the napkin holder.
“I’ll still be in though, I gotta get my fix.” He said and held up his drink, you weren’t sure if that was all he meant either. “Oh no, I won’t be in, I have the day off.”
He seemed crestfallen at that news, deflating in his seat with a frown. “Ah..” he mumbled as he stuffed more fries into his mouth. “But maybe we can arrange something?” you pulled out a napkin and wrote down your number, setting it next to him.
Buggy had been drinking at that moment, he stared at your number and snorted, his shake and the straw shooting to the back of his throat, causing him to splutter, some of his drink coming out of his nose as he became a flustered mess.
You laughed and watched him grab at handfuls of napkin to clean himself, wheezing as he did so, trying and failing to calm himself down, he croaked out “Sounds great

Hi, could I ask for whitebeard pirates with a female reader that’s kind of like Yor Forger from Spy x Family? Socially awkward and aloof, has poor cooking skills(Poor Thatch having to not throw up to hurt reader’s feelings) but is super strong and polite!!
Little Brothers Beware (Whitebeard pirates x sister! reader)
A/N It's been a but since I saw spy x family so l may be rusty, I know it's not exactly her characterization but similar and hopefully close enough for you!
Reader here is Replaced by Dokucha which stands for Reader in japanese
Dividers by @/drinkthesky and @/firefly-graphics
Tumblr media
"I messed it up again, didn't I?" Dokucha sniffled, watching Thatch's face grow more more sickly as he try to down the food.
"Good Job, Thatch. You made our sister cry," Izou drawled, watching the scene before him leaning into the dining table and against his closed fist and a slight smile on his face as he watched the scene unfold.
"How despicable of you," Haruta snickered
"Quit with the yappin’, you idiots!" he sneered, glaring at his brothers.
"Ah, Dokucha, don't cry. It wasn’ that bad, it just had too much spieces," he fusses, turning to her
"It's okay. We both know I am no good in the kitchen," she sighed.
"Or the med bay," Marco called as he walked behind them.
"Or the med bay..." she mutters
"I'm sorry I have failed you as a sister!" she cried, hugging him.
"Look at you, Thatch, making a lady cry again," laughed Izou next to him with a similar mischievous grin.
"Hush ya gettin’ on my last nerve," he growls, snapping his head to them only to turn it right back at the sobs of his sister.
"You could never fail me, Dokucha; yer the best sister I could ever ask for!" He exclaims, rubbing her back in a reassuring manner
"You mean it?"
"He's a liar, Dokucha," Calls Izou
"You're lying to me?" Dokucha questioned, looking up at Thatch, a tremble on her lips
"N-No course not, they are just spouting nonsense."
"That's not what you said with her last dis-.
"Hey, Dokucha, did they ever tell you about the time Izou and Haruta went at it?" Thatch spoke promptly, cutting him off watching with a satisfied grin as her sobs stop at the news
"You were fighting?" she growled as she turned around slowly, glaring at the two commanders, who had wiped their smiles from their faces as they shook their heads
"Of Course not, Big sis; we were only training right Izou?" Haruta called nervously at the haunting glare the woman was sending the pair
"Yes, we were to be sent to an important mission, so we figured some training before leaving would do us good."
Thatch threw them a grin as he leaned over Dokucha's ear, whispering in her ear loud enough for the two to hear.
"Ahh heard they were callin’ each other quite colorful names, and that Marco had too patch up a couple injuries," he spoke with a smirk as he glanced at them.
"You know what? I believe that was Haruta; he was quite angry that morning," Izou commented.
"You traitor!" Haruta hissed
"Haruta..." Dokucha growled, glaring at the man
"Y-yes?"
"How many times have I told you not to fight with your brothers?" she snarled, slowly approaching the man who by now had shot out of the stool he sat on in favor of backing away from her.
"Come on, dokucha, it was just playful banter."
"Banter was it? I guess if you have enough energy to fight with your brothers, then you have energy for a training session with me."
"That's really not necessary."
"I insist, little brother," She chirps, throwing a dark grin his way as she drags Haruta off to the training ground.
"I'll get you assholes back for this!" He screamed back to the snickering men on the kitchen
"Oh-ho, you really do have energy. I'm sure you can do an extra long session then!"
"Wait, no, sis, I didn't mean that!" he wails.
Marco sighed, shaking his head as he drank his tea, looking at the other two disapprovingly.
"She is going to find out, you know; once she finds out you tricked her, she will be furious."
"Oh, come on, Marco, she won't know,I I won't say anything, will you, Izou?" Thatch spoke, glancing at the sniper
"If you remain quiet about me, I will remain quiet about you," he confirmed as they both turned to Marco.
"Leave me out of this," he grumbled, walking out.
"We got dirt on ya too, you know!" Thatch calls with a grin
"Oh? Do remind me, who does your checkups and heals you when you fight amongst each other behind her back or go into dangerous missions, and who keeps silent when you fall ill and don't tell her?" He drawled with a grin hidden behind his cup as he continued walking
"Maybe, let's include Marco in tha silent treaty," Thatch Mutters.
"Agreed"
Tumblr media
I just realize it's been a week 🙊 oops? Im also surprised myself I din’t include ace, but ya know the other commanders need some loving too

Hi, Can you for Nezuko!reader x Whitebeard crew. So just basically in the Demon slayer world Nezuko was hit with a blood demon art and just appeared on Whitebeard ship.
(Extra if you want: Nezuko wanting to be friends with Izou because he has pretty kimonos)
-They didn’t know where you came from or even what you were, when you suddenly dropped out of the sky, literally, from what looked to be a fiery portal made of black fire, landing hard on the desk of the Moby Dick.
-You looked like a teenage girl when you first arrived, looking terribly injured, one of your legs and both of your arms missing, growling darkly at them all like you were some kind of animal.
-When you suddenly grew your missing limbs, instantly healing your wounds, many thought they were in for a fight, until you realized you were in the sunshine, which used to hurt, but it didn’t, and you calmed, looking up at the sun in awe.
-Whitebeard lowered his weapon first and the others quickly did the same, following his example as you calmed down, not aggressive anymore but you shocked everyone by your form changing to that of a child’s, shrinking down before you tipped over and were fast asleep.
-You slept for several days, curled into a little ball in Marco’s room, as he was the one watching you, minding your status, as well as inspecting you, finding that you had fangs and claws like a demon, but no demon they had ever seen before.
-When you woke up, you wandered around like a lost puppy, like you were looking for something, peeking into rooms, looking under tables, following others around, hoping they would lead you to your brother, who didn’t arrive with you.
-When you arrived on the deck, looking up at the massive man known as Whitebeard, not being able to find your brother, you fell to your rear and tears quickly welled in your eyes as you started crying, your mouthpiece falling from your mouth.
-You quickly sent the ship into a panic, wondering why you were crying, but Whitebeard could feel something, like he could sense the reason behind your tears as he easily picked you up, putting you on his knee, trying to comfort you, “It seems Y/N is missing someone- perhaps that portal she came through had someone she left behind and can’t get back to them now.”
-You looked up at him through teary eyes, his words sounded right, like what he was explaining, as you couldn’t find your big brother. Whitebeard announced that you were now adopted by him and his crew and everyone on the ship became your big brothers.
-You were a curious child, always exploring and popping up in the oddest places, and you would follow certain crew members around like a duckling, with your favorites being Izo, because his clothes were familiar to you, Thatch, because he always made you tasty food, which you could now eat, Marco, who was like your protector and you slept with him, and Whitebeard, because he felt safe and comforting.
-Despite not looking overly powerful, you quickly proved yourself when the marines tried to attack, attacking your new family, and they were all stunned when your form changed to your teenage form, showing that you were able to change forms based on how much power you had stored.
-When you shifted into your adult form, however, the vines covering your skin, your fangs and nails growing, you quickly handled business, easily taking care of the marines who dared to attack your family.
-When you arrived back on the ship Izo ran to you, scolding you for being so indecent, as your kimono had fallen open, showing off your chest and legs, while you tilted your head, confused by his anger before you shrank back down to your teenage form.
-Whitebeard just boomed with laughter, finding it amusing that you were so strong, at least physically, as they all knew you were a bit fragile mentally, as you would cry at random times, looking up at the sky or out across the ocean, missing whoever you were missing.
-There were also times when you would remember your mother, when you would see one of your brothers needing comfort, mimicking her, comforting them in your own way, doing your best.
-You were a surprise on the ship, but you weren’t unwelcome, and you felt safe with them, and while you never stopped looking for and missing your brother, you at least had a family who you could call your own in this new world.

My Ideal Revival of the Disney Heroes Franchise
Tumblr media
What you’re looking at is the official logo for a now defunct franchise known as Disney Heroes.
Disney Heroes was basically meant to serve as the sister
..or more appropriately, the brother franchise of the Disney Princesses, with the focus being placed on the male heroes of the Disney pantheon.
Tumblr media
The franchise initially started back in 1999, but under the name of Disney Adventurers. Not only that, but the line-up was rather small, consisting of the titular protagonists of Hercules, Aladdin, Peter Pan, and their most recent film at the time, Tarzan.
The franchise mainly existed through toys, with some notable merchandising besides that here and there.
The franchise remained this way until about 2003, when it got a notable revamp.
The franchise would get its current name and it would expand the roster quite a bit. The new members included Merlin and Arthur from The Sword in the Stone, Robin Hood, Prince Phillip from Sleeping Beauty, and Li Shang from Mulan.
I also think Simba from The Lion King was a part of the roster as well, I think I remember seeing him on a backpack done for the franchise.
But in 2005, the Disney Heroes franchise had a another revamp
this one notably different from the previous ones.
Although the franchise mainly existed through toys and play-sets that more or less stayed faithful to their respective films, these however
..
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Your eyes are not deceiving you
.these were actual action figures created and designed by Disney for the Disney Heroes franchise
..and I couldn’t be anymore happier.
Hercules looks like an ancient Greek warrior with the golden armor, plus he’s carrying a big xiphos and a golden shield with the face of a lion.
Peter Pan is now sporting some tan gloves, boots, and ever a mask, carrying a bow and quiver of arrows alongside his trusty dagger.
And Captain Hook has a more swashbuckling look, and his rapier has been replaced with a big ass cutlass!
Prince Phillip and Maleficent were also apart of this line-up of action figures as well.
Phillip had a more knight-like appearance, even having a helmet with a golden falcon on top.
And Maleficent
well, she was in her dragon form.
Sadly, only five action figures were made in this style
.
And it’s a shame, given that there were plans to revamp the franchise with a more action-oriented style.
These designs by Disney animator Ruben Procopio for planned future figures for the franchise really highlight this

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aladdin was gonna look like an Arabian Knight, complete with a dagger and a huge ass scimitar that would make Cloud Strife impressed.
Tarzan was gonna go for a Conan the Barbarian-esque look, complete with a headband, a vest, a tooth necklace, boots, and even a quiver filled with spears, knives, and arrows.
And as you could see, they were even gonna introduce The Beast from Beauty and the Beast as a new member of a roster, with the appearance of a warrior prince and a mace as his weapon.
Unfortunately, these figures never came to be....
Although Disney Heroes franchise was doing decently fine, it was nowhere near the level of success of the Disney Princesses.
As a result of that, Disney slowly but surely phased out the franchise over the next three years.
By 2008, the Disney Heroes franchise silently ended, only merchandising through coloring books and their only new addition since 2003 being....of all characters....Milo Thatch from Atlantis: The Lost Empire.
So yeah....that's pretty much the story of the Disney Heroes franchise.
It's honestly a shame because I could totally see this franchise being pretty successful today.
And given the rise of nostalgia and crossovers in media over the last decade, I could see this being an absolute goldmine for all parties involved.
And today, I'm gonna share on how I think a revival of the Disney Heroes franchise should play out.
.It would aim more towards a older audience, mostly teenagers, similar to the Disney Villains franchise. It wouldn't really focus all that much on toys like the Disney Princesses, though there would be some figurines here and there, instead focusing on media that's more accessible with a older crowd like novels, comic books, video games, and even animation.
.Unlike it's previous iteration, and to that extension the Disney Princesses, it would be more gender-neutral, featuring male and female representatives of most of the represented films as members of the roster.
.Also unlike the Princesses, this franchise has its own backstory. Various Disney villains have joined forces in other to further their respective goals. In retaliation, a group of various Disney heroes, led by Merlin, have united to fight against the villainous alliance and protect their respective realms. I know it's a pretty simple premise, but I think it's the perfect that way.
.The franchise will have a major focus on action and adventure....which for a franchise like this, should be expected.
.Many of the characters will be receiving redesigns in the veins of the ones done for the franchise back in 2005, which give off a fantasy warrior, almost Dungeons n' Dragons vibe. While these wouldn't be to the extent as say, Disney Mirrorverse, they would clearly by different from the characters' usual attire and makes them come off as more like warriors ready for adventure and battle.
.The series will essentially expand on the worlds of the films and bring in elements from their original source materials, official continuations like the TV shows, and even the cultures they represent.
Okay, now that we got the major elements out of the way, I'm gonna briefly share who would be apart of the roster for this new franchise, and list them in chronological order of movie release.
.Alice
.Peter Pan
.Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip
.Merlin and Arthur
.Mowgli
.Robin Hood
.Ariel and Eric
.Belle and Beast
.Aladdin and Jasmine
.Simba
.Pocahontas and John Smith
.Quasimodo
.Hercules and Megara
.Fa Mulan and Li Shang
.Tarzan and Jane Porter
.Milo Thatch and Kida Nedakh
.Jim Hawkins
.Tiana and Naveen
.Rapunzel and Eugene Fitzherbert
.Merida
.Anna and Elsa
.Moana and Maui
Just imagine.....seeing this iconic heroes going on various adventures, from the hottest deserts to the deepest jungles. Fighting against mythical monsters, thieves, wild beasts, villainous knights, deadly invaders, mysterious spirits and swashbuckling pirates!
Anyway, that's all for now. I'm planning to go more in-depth on this idea, fleshing out the characters and their worlds.
If you have any ideas for this franchise, let me know.

☆â™ȘAce x childhood best friend reader (who he has a crush on)☆â™Ș
Tumblr media
I’m trying to make my titles more appealing and fun to look at hopefully it’s working~!
(still not bothering with aesthetics this is something i personally wanna do)
For the record these are gender neutral so no worries
How y’all met? I’m not gonna go into specifics but you likely went into his territory
unless you met on one of his trips to the city for food n such
those three brothers are close and two didn’t trust easily back then
But once you make it in they’re circle there’s no backing down
from then on you always go to play with them and go on adventures together
they decided to keep you as a friend rather than a sibling
(back to present)~
ace honestly loves you because you accepted him, your cool, your (likely) strong whether that’s mentally or physically and most of all you’ve stuck by his side all this time
even him and luffy went they’re separate ways to become pirates
but you? You two met and have never separated since
you’ve literally kept your promise not to leave unlike no other
your always there
finally he has someone in his corner
and someone as cool as you?? How could he not fall in love 😍😍
Really he figured it out while just spacing out one day real early
like early enough to see the sunrise
he was just staring off, scouting just in case, although his mind was mostly on you
he laughed to himself thinking about memories of you two
and even more so that your still here
he noticed how nervous he now was to talk to you when you got up
he had a funny feeling in his stomach, his hands/breathing was jittery and he kept running his hand through his hair, trying to fight a smile
he was so incredibly nervous yet excited to see you!!
but why?! Today’s an ordinary day!
what is he some kind of love sick puppy?!

lovesick?
LOVE???
WAIT WHAT THE CRAP HE NEVER CONSIDERED THAT!!
wait
.no way, right?? He’s in love??
bro WHAT?! HE’S IN LOVE??
he’s..in love with (name)
wow
all this time he never even thought of that
NOW HE REALIZES HOW FLIRTY HE’S BEEN WITH YOU?!
it wasn’t even intentional!!
and now that he realizes it

.he always has the funny feeling every time he talks to you!
and his heart spikes when you call him!
bro
..wow.
*sits there in realization for the next hour*
how he acts when he has a crush:
Honestly he’s just trying to impress you and make you happy in every way
he acts chivalrous, paying for all the diners you stop at, opening doors, pulling out chairs, reminding you of things, grabbing your coat, doing you favors (ones you didn’t ask for but appreciate)
yes this is all very cliche and cheesy but you can’t go wrong with that right??
I mean
does it look like he knows how to love?! 😀
he never met either of his parents!! đŸ˜ŹđŸ€Šâ€â™€ïżœïżœ
bro is trying his best okay?? đŸ€·â€â™€ïž
he playfully shows off
he does it in a way that’s not annoying too, it doesn’t feel like he’s bragging when he does it
”hurrrr look at my big musclessss! ᕩ(ĂČ_óˇ)ᕀ”
LOLLL
he does it in a way that makes you laugh so it seems more like a joke
he gets you meaningful trinkets and stuff he remembers you like/said your wanted
when you two join the WBP
he also asks Marco and Izo for advice on how to act around you (just act normal bro)
as well as whitebeard!!
Thatch too
he rambled to literally everyone except you about you
then he has to beg and do favors for them not to tell you all the cheesy/embarrassing things he says
goodness Ace đŸ€Šâ€â™€ïž
he goes around like a love sick puppy for a few weeks ranting about you and celebrating about becoming a man (😂💗)
but then when Marco asks when he’s gonna ask you out
.
Ace FREAKS out.
like he literally forgot about that part-
IS IT TOO LATE?! DID YOU ALREADY FIND ANOTHER MAN??-
wait you two are childhood best friends you would’ve told him đŸ€š
oh.
okay well great!-
now

how does he confess?đŸ§â€â™€ïž
seriously he doesn’t know how. He doesn’t know what to say, do or give you
OR where to do it OR when OR if he’s even good enough OR if you won’t like him..
WAIT WHAT IF HE’S NOT A GOOD ENOUGH BOYFRIEND?!
wait..WHAT IF YOU DON’T LOVE HIM BACK⁉
He’s feels like giving up already😞
theres so many women/men in the world why would you want some lost parentless pirate who questions his existence

now when he goes to Marco and says all that he just laughs at him and calls him emo 😊
no but in all seriousness he brings Ace back to his senses and reminds him about what if you DO love him back 😏
đŸ˜źđŸ€©đŸ€©
he forgot all about that!- (😀)
WAIT WHAT IF YOU DO LIKE HIM BACK!!
THIS IS SO EXCITING!!
him and Marco run to find izo and have a bro meeting immediately
which happens and the three immediately start planning the confession >:3
they put they’re heads together to conjure something they know you’d like but doesn’t seem too sappy
his confession !! đŸ€©
the next time the ship stops at an island he takes you to a calm beach area where you relax and have some fun all day
your nakama are around but it mostly just seem like the world is just you and Ace right now
midday is when Ace strikes!
this was izo’s idea
no! it’s not because if he had to wait the next day to interact with you as his girlfriend he wouldn’t get any sleep >:(
Ace brought the topic to your childhood past together as you ate lunch and at some point you didn’t notice he transitioned to how he feels about you and how much he cares about you and that it would be everything to him if you became his girlfriend.
now it’s your turn to ‘WAIT WHAT’ :)
that was so smooth!
you didn’t even notice he was trying to confess until the end!
Wow did that surprise you!
at least your muscles were still working so that you could nod your head because you certainly didn’t know what to say!
____________「what do you say?」____________
____________Yes. No.____________ ïŒżïŒżïŒżïŒżïŒżïŒżïŒżïŒżïŒżïŒżïŒżïŒżïŒżïŒżïŒżïŒżïŒżïŒżïŒżïŒżïŒżïŒżïŒżïŒż (mini bonus): if you aspired to be a pirate, simply don’t mind or would like to support his dream, you joined the spade pirates! (Which obviously gets consumed into the whitebeard pirates, but hey your captain made the decision so you don’t mind). If your strong he’ll make you vice captain since your his first ever nakama. <3 otherwise you might be the navigator, medic or something else your good at! Likely not something that puts you in immediate danger though. He worries about the ones he loves leaving him too much for that.
HOPE YOU ENJOYED LOVLIES !! 🩋🩋
I need to write about ace more but I also needs get past the impel down arc but I also don’t (spoiler) wanna watch his death but I also wanna see more of his backstory and finish one piece and- ïœĄ.:*ïœĄ.:*đŸ’„ _:(ÂŽo`」 ∠):

 d(ïżŁ ïżŁ) - I’m good

The idea of Ace and Luffy being wild, feral things makes my own heart happy.
Honestly though, I picture them having a lot in common with animals.
Strong teeth, strong bones, tough skin, quick reflexes. The instincts that come from growing up wild.
An ability eat lot of things that other people maybe wouldn't or can't. Meat that's a little more rare than advisable and snapping bones to get to the marrow inside.
They walk quiet, soundless when they want to be, using shadows and blind spots to become basically invisible. They don't do it often because they both have terrible attention spans but they can sit still and silent for long periods of time if needed, waiting like predators for their prey.
Staring, the way animals stare and wait for the other one to back down, making themselves look bigger and baring teeth. They snarl and snap their teeth, flexing their hands like claws when they're not making fists, a low grumble in their chests that sounds like a odd growl.
How it's instinct to cover the throat and belly of themselves and their crews, vulnerable spots that must be protected.
Ace being one of the shorter of the Whitebeard crew, so he does that thing where he eases himself in front of the others to cover their throats and bellies. Curling his lip back to show teeth and keeping eye contact with anyone stupid enough to try.
Licking their wounds, literally.
I imagine them being incredible trackers, able to use their senses a little more than the average person. Ears a little sharper, scents being considered, eyes taking in all the little details. Maybe they're not aware of it, but I like to think they take it all in deeper than they possibly realize.
A sense for something wrong, like how some animals can pick up on the energy people give off, possible sicknesses, coming storms, being watched, etc.
Sleeping all tangled together, the way animals sleep together for safety and warmth in cooler times. Luffy and Ace are big cuddlers.
Not necessarily in the normal cuddle ways either, they like to either be sprawled out on top or covered by someone. They're either being protected or they're protecting.
Head butts and cheek rubs when happy. That extra emphasis on crew, like packs and herds. Crew.
A lot of touching. Playing with someone's hair or nuzzling into their neck or side, a lack of boundaries because animals don't have shame or concerns like that.
And everyone who regularly interacts with Ace or Luffy wants to know how two feral cats got trapped in human bodies.
Am I always down for poly crews? Yes
Platonic or otherwise? Yes
Do I think everyone is a little in love with Luffy? Yes
Do I think everyone is a little in love with Ace? Yes
The crews love their wild ones and spoil them rotten when they can and know how to.
And since this is already AU let's just roll with it.
♠ Ace ♠
Ace just despises Teach right off the bat. As soon as the ink has settled in his skin and he's got a claim on him that he's never had before, he's completely standoffish with Teach. No matter how much the others tell him that's his brother now and assure him, he's all teeth and fire when Teach is around.
The man makes the fine hairs on the back of his neck rise and the instincts pacing at the back of his mind spit out a hiss.
Threatthreatthreat
His teeth grind together in anger, muscles tense under his skin, and it's a vicious thing in his chest he hasn't felt so strongly since Sabo and Luffy were his.
It causes some tension. People torn between supporting Teach, who's been their own for awhile, or supporting Ace, who has a good sense for this type of thing and is so welcoming to everyone else. They don't know how Ace can be so sweet and well loved by everyone but does a complete 180 with Teach.
It's instincts that have gotten Ace this far in life though and one night, it's only those instinct that save Thatch.
Ace darting out of the shadows and landing like the wrath of a god in front of Thatch, the knife that would have gone into the man's back instead finds a home in Ace's shoulder.
A rumbling growl that gets louder and nastier as the seconds tick by, blood running down a bare chest before flames lick up a wound that only found flesh because letting it pass meant the possibility of it hitting someone else. Sharp teeth shining in the growing glow of the fire and the ends of his hair burning like the edge of paper.
The flames don't burn Thatch when the older turns around. His flames would never burn crew.
Thatch wraps an arm around his waist like he's going to pull him away, but it just stays there, heavy around him. Ace takes a moment to find comfort in the warm and very alive presence pressed up behind him, bigger than him and Thatch's own protective fury catching fire.
Marco is less restrained in his fury. As are most of the others when they rush to investigate. The only reasons it's not quick is because they want it to hurt.
Ace is a coiled threat the whole time, body tense but staying where he is because the original threat was to Thatch and he hasn't quite lowered his hackles from that yet. Still on his toes and ready to spring forward at a moments notice.
He gives a small warning growl to Marco when he gets close, who looks at him in both worry and fond exasperation.
The blood from the blade is black where it burned against his skin and the flesh is unmarked, but it doesn't stop everyone from fluttering nervously around him.
♠
Ace is attractive, arguably pretty in a way most pirates aren't. Although this young generation is changing that quickly, have you seen some of these rookies?
He draws attention easily, everyone drawn in by his charming personality or freckled cheeks.
He's a flirt but he doesn't often let other people actually touch him. Leaning away from eager fingers or gracefully dodging arms, excusing himself when he feels to cornered. He doesn't want the feel of strangers on his skin, he just wants the crew. And Luffy of course, his heart giving a lonely pang for his brother.
Sometimes people don't get the hint though, and sometimes they do and they don't care.
Drugs don't effect Ace like they would someone who wasn't a devil fruit user but they still make him dizzy and weak before he burns through it.
It only takes once, outside a bar with someone's hands on his skin when they didn't belong there, on his lower stomach and the other up by his neck. He doesn't even get a chance to try to shake off the drug enough to do anything before the man is gone.
Familiar hands, Marco, running over his skin quick and firm like it could wipe away the foreign touch before he processed it was there. Like if he replaced the unknown touch with his own quick enough it will wipe away the lingering disgust and discomfort of the stranger.
The whole time he keeps Ace hidden between his larger body and the wall behind them. Ace's heart aches almost as much as his head with how thoughtful it was. How safe and grounding it was.
The only arms he lets grab him, the only hands that he presses in to, are crew.
♠
Ace has a habit of sneaking into everyone's bed, they don't talk about how they all know it's on the nights where he can't sleep or has nightmares. He burrows between them and the mattress, until he's under them enough to feel covered, safe and protected.
Ace isn't a small guy but he's lean, always had a hard time bulking up with his metabolism being so high and his natural build. He feels small with them, especially the commanders like Jozu and Vista who completely cover him. Even Thatch and Marco are decently larger than him though, Izo and Haruta being the exceptions but they're large in everything that they are.
They all welcome him. He's warm and sweet, plus it's nice to know he's sleeping somewhere safe instead of falling asleep in strange places through the day.
Marco is usually his favorite though because he doesn't pretend to be asleep. He just props himself up enough so Ace can wiggle under him before settling back down, his chest to Ace's back.
Some nights when the pressure is too much and he's restless in a way that feels like it's deep in his bones, he paces the ship. He's coiled and tight, usually not sleeping for a few days before it catches up to him and he slinks away somewhere dark and hidden to finally rest.
Usually one of the other commanders can coax him into resting, all of them getting the hang of how to best help their wild, little one.
♠
The crew getting used to Ace just crawling into their laps and making himself at home. He is also fond of appearing just long enough to rub his face into someone's neck or against their cheek before taking off again.
♠
Ace sneaking off to literally lick his wounds in peace when he gets hurt, especially when he was still finding his place. Someone always having to go track him down because he stays curled away like an injured animal until he feels better if they don't.
Licking at his arm one time when he manages to get caught with seastone, blood staining his teeth and tongue rust colored. Marco trying to grab him and in full lecture mode as Ace tries to dig out the lingering seastone with his teeth.
♠
An extra one to hurt just a little ♄
Ace is wild. Already a problem before you factor in his devil fruit and raw power. He's got a reputation of biting, taking off fingers and catching throats between sharp teeth.
It seems like someone did their research though because the muzzle they wrangle him into has seastone. Everyone has finally caught on to the fact that he doesn't need his flames to bite.
It's a sharp, nasty thing. Probably thrown together quick in a desperate attempt to get him under control. The straps dig into his skin hard enough to draw blood and Ace can already picture Marco talking about infections.
It hurts and goes from a deep, dull discomfort to a sharp, active pain. The muzzle settles into his skin and rub the skin raw where it doesn't outright cut into it. He's been captured for a few days, the wounds clotting and trying to heal only to be ripped back open when moving a certain way.
It was only a matter of time until they came for him and when the guards start getting fidgety he wishes he could show his teeth in a grin. Everyone knows what happens to those stupid enough to mess with the Whitebeard pirates.
He always knew they'd find him, even when the guards whispered in his ear cruel taunts about being forgotten. Unloved.
His heart still goes heavy with affection when he hears the first sounds of death coming for his captors.

Today would definitely be your day! After weeks of trying to convince your brothers and especially your father, you had managed to get permission to take a tour all alone around the next island the ship stopped. It might seem silly, but living surrounded by men who saw danger in everything made your freedom being compared to one of a bird in a cage. Of course, you were more than grateful for all the effort they put into protecting you, but sometimes you just wanted to run around and play with other kids instead of being followed by famous pirates who scared anyone who came near.
That's why you couldn't hold back the anxiety of finally being able to live a little adventure completely alone! You've prepared very well, choosing fresh clothes that won't get in the way of playing or running, took a purse with a generous amount of money that you collected according to the days and choose the best and most resistant shoes! Everything was perfect, you couldn't even swallow your food during lunch. You were so busy, as soon as the meal was over, you said goodbye to everyone and ran towards the port, excited to explore the place.
Even if walking around and spending money on silly things wasn't exactly the most fun thing in the world, just being able to experience all those new things by yourself and maybe even make a few friends was enough to get you excited. There weren't many young people in Whitebeard's crew, you ended up being the only child and the youngest member which left you a bit alone. Of course no one refused to play with you, Marco and Thatch would spend hours distracting you if that made you happy, the point was that they were adults and eventually needed to take care of their responsibilities, leaving you alone.
Your plan was to buy some candy and maybe find some kids your age to play with, you couldn't wait to get some attention from people who would also like to play. You walked carefree through the big city market, there were countless merchants, mothers, workers, all walking around in their own worlds and duties. You'd eventually stop and look at the fruit, jewelry, or anything else that looked like fun, but you weren't focused on shopping. You were humming absently around, not really caring about your surroundings when you started to hear footsteps approaching.
When you turned around to try to figure out what was going on it was too late, a person collided directly with you but before he could knock you to the ground, he pulled you by the arm away from the main road. You were dragged into an alley and soon a hand covered your mouth, when you regained your senses you could hear more and more footsteps approaching, a crowd running! You frowned in confusion as you listened to what people were saying. "Are you sure you lost them?" You tried to peek down the alley and you could guess they were sailors by their blue and white outfit. "Shit, those little brats! I can't believe they robbed us
" they argued among themselves "Let's keep looking, they can't have gone far".
So when the men walked away you decided to pay attention to the situation you were in. You looked to see who your captors were and came across two
children? The boy holding you had blue hair and a huge red nose, he was holding your mouth while his face had a terrified expression. Next to him was a boy with red hair and a nice hat, he was carrying what looked like a bag of coins and he also looked extremely nervous about being chased. Whoever they were, you knew they'd robbed the sailors, but that didn't mean they weren't a risk to you.
When you were sure the sailors were gone you used all your strength to step on the boy's foot and then bite his hand. You might be small but you weren't harmless, growing up with powerful pirates had taught you a trick or two.
"Ouch! You bit me!" The boy screamed as he held his own hand.
The redhead finally seemed to notice that they'd dragged someone else into the mess and looked at you confused.
"You kidnapped me!" You countered by crossing your arms.
"You kidnapped them?!" The redhead exclaimed looking at his friend in shock.
"They were in the way!" The other tried to defend himself "And you bit me! I was about to let you go!" He was still angry but you didn't care.
"Think before you kidnap me! You're lucky I only bit you, if I told my brothers they would do a lot worse!" You exclaimed proudly of your family.
"Sure, like I'm going to believe a snotty brat" the blue haired one rolled his eyes.
"You called me what?!" You exclaimed with fury as your cheeks burned.
"Snotty brat" he said again with a smirk, looking satisfied with having turned the tables.
The problem was that the boy had underestimated you, one thing you definitely lacked was patience. You learned very early that you shouldn't tolerate offenses against yourself or your family, so you let anger win that fight. You quickly punched the blue-haired boy in the middle of the face, the one who fell on his butt with a scream.
"Buggy!" The red-haired friend screamed and went to help him.
"I'm not snotty!" You said stomping your foot on the floor.
The red-haired boy looked between you and the companion, his gaze showing shock and
fascination? He looked at you like you were a bedtime story hero, someone amazing and you couldn't understand. Shouldn't he be angry? You had just hit his colleague and he seemed fascinated by it?
"Wow
" he exclaimed looking you up and down.
"Humpf! Idiot" you said without patience and then you turned to leave the alley "You're lucky I won't tell my brothers, Marco would finish you off" you said and then left the place ignoring the red haired boy who kept calling you .
You were nervous and frustrated that visit to the city had not gone as you planned, so you decided to go back to the ship earlier. Luckily you would stay a few days in that place, there would be other opportunities to explore and meet kind and fun children, no more children who irritated you. It wasn't long after returning to shore that the crew set up a small camp to store the new supplies while the ship was refueled. There, you found Marco fiddling with some papers and further away you could see his father giving orders to some other members.
You sat with a sulky face while eating a candy you bought in town, Marco looked at you curiously and approached with a characteristic smile.
"What's wrong birdie-yoi?" He smiled and sat down next to you.
"I
I met some annoying kids" you decided it was better to omit what had happened, as much as you wanted revenge, you understood that the confusion had been a misunderstanding and you didn't want your siblings worrying about something so silly.
"Wasn't that fun?" He nodded when he saw you deny it. "Don't worry, you can still meet other kids in the next few days" he smiled trying to calm you down "And if nobody wants to play with you, let's get Visa and Jozu and have a tea party, how about that?" He offered, knowing you were always happiest spending time with your brothers.
"Promise?" You looked at him sullenly.
"On my honor" he smiled as he saw you clearly getting more excited about the idea.
After a little chat, Marco had to get back to work and you decided not to bother him anymore. So to distract yourself until dinner time you decided to walk along the nearby beach and look for some shells to collect, you were still thinking about the boys from before, especially the redhead. He was looking at you with so much emotion that you couldn't help but feel your stomach churning, no one had ever looked at you like that
It was so weird and it made you so confused, what was that? Some noises in the nearby forest caught your attention, being curious that you were, so it didn't take long to approach and look for who was there.
"It 's you!" You said in recognition of seeing the red hair from before.
"Shhhh!" He asked for silence and you covered your mouth, looking around for any threat "Are your brothers here?" he asked quietly.
"They're over there
" you pointed into the distance and he seemed to agree silently "What are you doing here?"
"I wanted to talk to you again" he admitted looking at the floor, his cheeks were slightly pink and you felt your body getting warm.
"Why?" You asked timidly.
"Because your punch was super cool!" His eyes sparkled "You hit Buggy right on!"
"Is he not your friend?" You asked confused.
"He is
But you were just defending yourself! He shouldn't have called you snotty
You're not snotty, you're too cute to be!" He confidently admitted.
"Do you think I'm cute?" Your cheeks were now on fire.
"I do
" he smiled shyly "I'm Shanks, what's your name?" He approached.
"(Y/n)" you smiled.
"Cool, I didn't know Whitebeard had someone in the crew with my age"
"How do you know I’m in the Whitebeard’s crew?”
"You said you had a brother named Marco, I know him! And my captain said Whitebeard was in town, so that had to be it," he said with pride in his little investigation.
"Your captain? Are you a pirate too?" You were curious now.
"Yes! I'm from the Roger Pirates!" he exclaimed with pride.
That's when your face became sad... You had heard about this crew countless times, all your life you grew up hearing that they were your father's main enemies and that you could not, under any circumstances, approach them.
"I shouldn't be talking to you!" You finally realized and tried to run, but Shanks was quick and grabbed you.
"Wait! Please! I don't want to hurt you!" He begged as he held her wrist gently but firmly.
"How can I trust you? You kidnapped me this morning! And we are sworn enemies!" You snorted.
"But I don't want to be your enemy
"
"You don't?" You let your emotions get the best of you.
"No
 I
I want to be your boyfriend!" He declared with fire in his eyes.
"Boyfriend!?" You stuttered in shock, your face was hot and probably red, your eyes were wide in shock.
"Yes! You're super strong and cute!" He said without a care and then let go of your hand "Unless you didn't like me
"
"No! I did like you
!" You admitted with embarrassment "But
 I never had a boyfriend
 What do they do?"
"They
They" he stammered in embarrassment "They hold hands
Kiss on the cheek and go on dates!" He said with embarrassment.
"Oh!" You exclaimed with as much embarrassment as he was. You thought about holding Shanks hands and your stomach started to turn, it would also be really cool to be able to play with him.
"It's cool, isn't it? We can be sweethearts!" He tried to convince you.
"(Y/n)?! Where are you? It's getting dark and we should go back to the ship" You heard your father's voice approaching.
"Shanks?! Where are you?!" Another unknown voice came from the middle of the forest.
Before you could run away the fearsome encounter took place, behind you was your father and behind Shanks must have been the much talked about Roger, his captain. You both widened your eyes in terror when you realized what was happening, but you didn't dare open your mouth to try to explain.
"Roger"
"Newgate"
"Can you explain why your brat is talking to my child?" He quickly put a hand on your shoulder and pulled you back.
"Good question, what's up Shanks? Did you come here to talk to the old man?" The captain chuckled, he didn't seem to be mad at Shanks at all.
"I
 Well
" the boy mumbled incoherently with embarrassment.
"Did he do something to you?" Your father asked, looking at you calmly, he didn't seem mad at you at all, which calmed you down a bit.
"No
" you mumbled shyly and grabbed his leg.
"Hm, maybe they just met and had a chat" Roger theorized "Or are they secretly flirting, huh Shanks? You naughty, came for the riskiest one" the man teased.
"Don't talk nonsense Roger, (y/n) can't date you, brat" His father said as if that was nonsense.
"I can't?" You asked with some sadness in your voice.
"They can’t?" It was Shanks's turn to look sadly at his captain.
The two men stared at each other in shock, they seemed to slowly understand what was going on between the two of you.
"Don't tell me
Did you like this piece of junk?" your father asked in shock and nervousness.
"Hey! No need to offend other people's children!" Roger defended "Shanks isn't that bad
 He's just
 He" the man shrugged.
"Like you understand" Edward rolled his eyes.
"Come on, we were young once!" Roger laughed "Let the kids date and have some fun, nothing bad will come of it"
"No" Edward gave the final verdict, but when he felt you pulling his pants and making your huge lost puppy eyes with tears threatening to fall he started to rethink the idea "(y/n)..."
"Please?" You asked "I promise I'll help more often in the kitchen if you let me..." you tried to bargain, you liked Shanks, you didn't want to be banned from dating him, even if you didn't know exactly what boyfriends did.
"Heavens
Who knew having kids would be like this
" He sighed tiredly "You guys can date" Shanks smiled "With some conditions!"
"Conditions? That's not fair!" He huffed angrily.
"Calm down little one, he's the father, he has the right to decide that, you have to earn trust and permission" Roger said quickly, Shanks seemed more resigned.
"First you need to grow up a bit, I can step on you now and I won't let such a small and young brat date my child!" he said quickly.
"Uhum!" The redhead's eyes sparkled.
"Second, you need to be strong! I will not tolerate a weakling having my child as a partner, you need to be able to face me without fear to have their hand"
"Yes! I'm going to be really strong!" He smiled looking at you and you looked away shyly.
"And finally, when you have those two things, the most important one" Shanks listened attentively "You need their acceptance" your father put his hand on your head "If you have both requirements and my child still loves you then I won't be the one going to stop you" he chuckled.
You smiled happily as you looked at Shanks who also looked confident.
"You'll see old man! I'm going to marry them!" He proclaimed with pride.
Roger just laughed praising his apprentice while your father looked frustrated and stroked your hair. You smiled thinking about how cool it would be to have Shanks as your boyfriend, you really didn't see the time to be able to be with him.

Khuzdul: ThorinuldĂ»m - Thorin’s Halls, the settlement of the refugees from the Lonely Mountain in the Blue Mountains Amad - mother
Tumblr media
1.
It was a perfect morning. Thorin stretched and yawned, settling himself on his favourite chair in the kitchen. The air that whiffed into the dwarven stronghold from the outside felt warm on his cheeks and smelled like spring. As he sipped his morning tea, that strong, aromatic blend Dori bought in Bree, his sister appeared at the threshold. She gave Thorin a bright smile and, seeing her steaming mug on the table, she sat next to him. The lazy silence of the early hours of the day was soon broken by the appearance of two dishevelled pebbles, one with a thatch of golden hair, the other – with his hair as brown as a bear’s fur in winter. After the mandatory morning hugs, Thorin readied breakfast while Dís prepared her sons for the day, humming to herself. Thorin could not stop himself from smiling. His sister was probably already thinking of her visit to the market. She adored going there in the morning, especially on the days when the merchants arrived with new goods – and today was one of those days. Thorin sighed. As much as he wanted her to have a very much needed moment of respite – his sister-sons were quite a handful, to put it mildly – he was painfully aware of what it was going to mean to him. Half a day of having his eyes around his head and his ears pricked up for any unusual noises they may create
or worse – the ominous silence. In the past, there was only a handful of moments when he and Dís realised that the boys went completely silent. It never bode well.
This day, however, started with the pitter-patter of the boys’ bare feet, chatter and laughter, and the clatter of their bowls as they ate their oatmeal. DĂs reminded them to behave while she was gone, and left for the market. FĂli seemed very content about this state of things, knowing well by now that staying with his mother’s brother meant visiting various places in these halls, like forges, or assisting Thorin in other exciting ways. It was different with KĂli – his loud wails of protest at being so cruelly abandoned reverberated against the walls of their home. Thorin imagined they must have followed their mother through the corridors of ThorinuldĂ»m for a long while. Her Little Bear, as DĂs called him, was still too young to understand the connection between Mommy leaving, and the sudden appearance of candied rhubarb or his favourite cream toffees.
Distracting Kíli from his misery was not easy, but Thorin managed it by offering to take the boys for a new adventure. Their big blue eyes shone as he told them they would be going to the lower levels of the city together. It was a real treat – Kíli had never been there before and Fíli visited them only a handful of times.
Thorin had a mind to visit the Engineers’ Quarter and show the lads around while discussing some technical issues with one of the water engineers. And so they began their adventure. As they descended down the wide stone stairs Kíli stumbled and yawned, so Thorin decided to carry him the rest of the way. Soon Little Bear began snoring in his arms, and Thorin attempted to ignore the fact that his own tunic was becoming gradually soaked through with his nephew’s saliva. He also started suspecting that the moniker “Little Bear” must have surely come from the fact that Kíli seemed to weigh more and more with every step, like a true bear.
“At least he is not crying,” Thorin muttered to himself, and kept on walking. Thank Mahal for silver linings.
As they arrived at their destination, however, the situation got worse. The Engineers’ Quarter was a crowded place that smelled like tar, coal, and burned leather. Not minding the much larger adult dwarves in their soot-stained clothes who carried – or carted – their wares from one place to another, curious Fíli began rushing between them, oblivious of the chaos he was creating. He took a look at the wheelwright’s workshop here, and then he had to see the toolmaker’s booth there; he then insisted on seeing how parchment was being made, and attempted to find the place where they manufactured those shiny cogwheels. If not for his golden mane, Thorin would have lost his nephew at least a couple of times. Brór, the water engineer he had a meeting with, joined Thorin in the chase for the high-spirited boy. Instead of looking at the water supply pipeline blueprints and trying to fix a problem with water pressure, they ended up unwillingly playing a hide-and-run game to the delight of the onlookers. Seeing your own king running back and forth through the great cavern with one giggling pebble strapped to his chest while chasing after the other one must have been very amusing
for anyone but him, Thorin thought with resignation. His resignation grew even more when he noticed Fíli climbing onto a tall work table
and jumping down onto a heap of coal.
When Thorin finally caught the runaway, they were both out of breath. Although it was rather Fíli who caught his uncle – the boy ran into him and clung to his left leg as if a throng of orcs chased him.
Fíli raised his teary-eyed face to Thorin and sobbed out, “A monster wanted to eat meeee
”
“A monster? Here?” Thorin’s brow furrowed.
It took him a while to reassure FĂli that no monster was going to eat him. In turn, Thorin promised to get rid of the said monster that apparently lurked in a nearby chamber, and shrieked at him. He left his nephews in the care of BrĂłr who tried to look solemn, but his twitching lips betrayed him. Thorin grunted and entered the chamber, carefully looking around, adjusting his eyes to the dark surroundings. And then he saw two glowing points of red. And heard the shrieking.
2.
When Thorin returned to Brór, Kíli was fast asleep once again. Leaving Little Bear in the engineer’s care once again, he took Fíli’s hand and led him to the entrance of the dark chamber. When they opened the door, they both heard the continuous shrieking now. His nephew stopped and refused to walk inside, covering his ears and closing his eyes.
“There are no monsters here, Fíli.” Thorin reassured the boy. “See for yourself.”
“Nnoooo
” muttered Fíli, hiding behind his uncle.
“Do not be afraid,” Thorin added. “Nothing will hurt you here. I promise.”
On the bench by the door stood a lantern. It took him a moment to light it. With the lantern in hand, Thorin crossed the threshold and approached the nearest lantern that hung on the wall, and then another, and another. Soon, the whole chamber was bright as day, each lantern giving off a pleasant yellow glow.
“You can come in now,” Thorin smiled encouragingly.
With his ears covered and his eyes set on the shrieking, wobbling entity in the middle of the chamber, FĂli shook his head.
“This is not a monster.” Thorin stepped towards the huge bulbous shape that made so much noise. He placed his hand on the top of the strange shaking thing and added, “This is a washing barrel.”
Fíli blinked and took a good look at it. The two red glowing points did not look like a pair of evil eyes any longer. Those were two ball-shaped lanterns standing on top of the
thing. That shrieking noise now seemed to sound like a couple of cogwheels that needed a bit of oil, and not like a monster’s screech. And the arm that seemed to reach out to grab him before, turned out to be a cast iron lever.
“A
barrel?” Fíli looked at his uncle and took one uncertain step towards him and the strange contraption.
“Correct. A barrel that washes your clothes,” Thorin explained in an even voice and at the same moment the shrieking stopped. “Look, it has just finished the washing cycle. Let me show you how it works. First, you open this hatch, like so
Watch out for the water! These clothes are clean, they only need to be wrung out and dried.”
As he spoke, FĂli slowly started closing the distance between them, his eyes becoming wider and wider.
“... but if you want to wash your clothes,” Thorin continued, “you need to put them inside, here, and add some soap suds. Then you close the hatch, pour some water here, crank this lever a few times, do this, like so, and wait for the washing barrel to finish its work!”
Thorin kept on talking until Fíli seemed to be completely in awe of this new piece of machinery, his fear completely forgotten. He peppered his uncle with tons of questions: how many cogwheels were there, how many times one should crank the lever, what the barrel was made of
and so on, and so forth. When they left the chamber, there was a big smile on the boy’s lips instead of tears.
On their way back home Fíli exclaimed, “This was the bestest adventure ever!”
Thorin thought that sometimes being an uncle happened to be quite rewarding. Even if his tunic was still wet from Kíli’s sleepy drooling.
***
His attitude completely changed less than half an hour later, when his nephews disappeared. Both of them. At once.
Stumbling over several painfully angular wooden toys, Thorin searched the boys’ bedroom. Nothing. He even looked under their beds (twice!), but there was no sign of the boys anywhere. They weren't sitting in the common kitchen nor searching for snacks in the pantry. Nor in Dwalin’s rooms where Kíli liked to play hide-and-scare with the big warrior. There were nowhere to be found – not in the rocking chair by the fireplace, nor even in Balin’s study by that large desk where Fíli liked to play so often. Thorin closed his eyes. If he did not find his nephews before Dís returned from the market, his sister would have Thorin’s own head on a spike. The wrath of dwarf-women was ten times fiercer than the one of dwarf-men. In the case of his little sister, the number was much higher, at least a hundred times. And Thorin would do everything he could to avoid being on the receiving end of it.
There was no time to lose. He recruited Dwalin, Óin, and Halkatla, Balin’s wife, to the task of finding the boys, but they returned empty-handed. No one had seen the boys since their early lunch. Then, they were supposed to take a nap, and Thorin remembered their yawning as they closed the door to their bedroom behind him.
And now they were gone. Kidnapped? — No, impossible, Thorin thought. Dwarves cherished their children like the greatest treasures they were, and no one else was allowed into ThorinuldĂ»m. There were no goblins nor other dangers here either. It felt as if the boys magically disappeared in a puff of smoke. Thorin looked around the wide corridor he stood in, but he found no traces of the missing boys.
“Have you checked all of their favourite places?” Halkatla asked, her red-and-silver braids clinking as she turned her head towards Óin.
“Aye, we did,” he nodded. “Not a sign of them.”
“Those wee rascals! I bet they are up to somethin’.” Dwalin said. “They remind me of us. Remember that time, Thorin, when we were around their age or so, and half of Erebor was lookin’ for us all day long?”
“It would be difficult to forget it,” Thorin admitted. “We wanted to avoid another boring lesson with our tutor
”
“...and instead we went to explore the mines! What a shame we lost our way,” Dwalin grinned and nudged him. “It was fun!”
“Aye, fun on an empty belly. If only you had not forgotten our food,” Thorin replied, relieved that his nephews had a proper meal at least.
“If only ye had not forgotten that map ye were supposed to borrow from your father’s desk,” Dwalin chuckled.
Before Thorin could form an adequate riposte, a mousy-haired dwarf approached him.
“M’lord, Master Brór says that the pipeline is fully functional again,” the messenger bowed.
Thorin gave him a nod of thanks. At least he brought a piece of good news. Master Brór was a skilled engineer, and the way he handled Thorin’s own sister-sons

“Either way,” Dwalin continued, “we had a real adventure on that day, hadn’t we, Thorin?”
A thought appeared in Thorin’s mind. Master Brór. An adventure.
“There was one place where we have not searched yet,” he turned to his companions.
“I am listening,” Halkatla tilted her head, reminding him of a curious raven.
“The Engineers’ Quarters.”
***
Master Brór was more than happy to receive words of thanks from Thorin in person for fixing that pipeline issue once and for all. Despite Thorin’s hopes, he had not seen Fíli or Kíli since they left the Engineers’ Quarters with their uncle earlier that day. Dwalin muttered a curse under his breath.
“Well, that’s it. I’m goin’ to check the workshops,” the warrior said.
“I’ll take the ones on the left, you take the ones on the right,” Halkatla followed him.
“Let’s go,” Dwalin replied, his voice trailing off as he walked away. “And those wee cave bats would better be there or I swear
”
Master Brór addressed Thorin, “I will spread the word as you requested, my lord. Someone must have seen them, I am certain of it. They could not have simply disappeared.”
Thorin agreed with him and began his own search. The rocks could not have swallowed them whole! Magic was out of the question as well, there had to be a logical solution to this! Thoring pulled at his short beard in frustration. Wandering through the area and looking for any signs of his nephews in places they visited earlier that day, he wondered if Óin had any luck. The healer was waiting at their home in case Fíli and Kíli returned there on their own. Perhaps the three of them were already sitting by the fire, with Óin telling the boys countless amusing stories, while Thorin and his companions were checking every nook and cranny on the lower level, going out of their minds with worry. He raised his head, listening to a peculiar sound and trying to figure out its source. It sounded like
shrieking. It was not at all difficult to recall Fíli’s eyes shining with fear, awe, and then curiosity at the sight of the washing barrel.
Without thinking, Thorin turned his steps towards the chamber that housed the “monster” Fíli had been so afraid of not so long ago.
When Thorin arrived at his destination, the door was ajar. Thorin could hear the shrieking very well, but there were other sounds too. Very familiar sounds.
He took a deep breath and shouted, “Dwalin! I found them!”
***
When Thorin stepped inside the chamber, the sounds became even clearer. One of them he identified as uncontrollable giggling, and the other one, slightly muted, sounded like: “Woooo! Woooo! Wooooo! A carousel! Woooo! Faster, Fíli! Woooo!”
Thorin breathed out a sigh of relief only to be struck by a pang of dread a moment later.
FĂli stood by the washing barrel, cranking the lever, grinning from ear to ear, and laughing. KĂli was nowhere to be seen, but his enthusiastic shouts seemed to be coming from inside of the barrel. Inside, not outside. Thorin swallowed; he considered screaming in terror, but something told him that this was most definitely an example of behaviour unworthy of a king. It took him a moment to melt the ball of ice that was forming in his stomach. He closed the distance between him and the barrel in a blink of an eye.
Thank Mahal, the hatch was open. Inside, KĂli sat with his back against a wall of the large metal container inside the machine, surrounded by various articles of laundry, with a happy grin on his face, and a stray sock on top of his head. A wave of relief washed over Thorin.
“Uncle Thorin! Uncle Thorin!” Fíli exclaimed. “We’re playing carousel! Want to jump in?”
Thorin did not.
“It is time to return home, boys,” Thorin simply said, taking Kíli out of the barrel. His clothes were damp and he smelled like those violet flowers Dís liked so much, but other than that, he looked happy, and what’s more important, he was in one piece – just like his older brother.
“But uncle...” Fíli started.
“Your amad will be home soon. Do you not want to see what she bought at the market?”
“A sugar horse? She promised!” The boy recalled his favourite treat.
Holding KĂli firmly against his chest with one arm, Thorin held out his hand to FĂli.
“Let us go and see,” he said with a smile as his nephew’s tiny hand grabbed his.
There would yet be time for scolding and for a conversation about not sneaking out anywhere alone, but for now, the only thing that Thorin wanted was to safely bring his little rascals home.
He only hoped they would manage to reach their halls before DĂs returned.
***
When Dís crossed the threshold of their home later in the afternoon, she was greeted by complete silence. Her sons were nowhere to be seen, which was very suspicious. They were always the first ones to run to her and see what she brought them this time. She expected Thorin to welcome her and help her unpack her basket, as usual — but he was not there either. Was this that ominous silence she dreaded so much whenever her boys were executing another of their silly mischiefs? Not really. It seemed as if their home was empty
until she heard a familiar sound coming from a nearby chamber. Dís put the basket on the floor and tiptoed deeper into their halls.
The picture that unfolded before her eyes was the last thing she had expected. Her brother was half sitting, half lying on the sofa, his legs stretched out in front of him, his head resting on the backrest, his eyes closed. Fíli was cuddled up to his uncle’s side, his hair tousled, making her think of a skein of golden yarn. Kíli lay on the opposite side of his uncle, his head resting on Thorin’s lap and turned towards her. He had his thumb in his mouth. Dís could clearly see the darker stain of drool on her brother’s trousers and stifled a giggle.
All three of them were asleep, of course. And all three of them were snoring in perfect unison. If she closed her eyes she could almost imagine that she had a working sawmill in front of her.
This scene was too adorable for Dís to interrupt it, so she decided that she would let her three boys sleep a little longer. There was no harm in a little nap, after all. Besides, she was tired, and there was still some space left on the sofa
As she drifted off to sleep beside them, her last conscious thought was: “Why do all three of them smell like my lavender laundry soap?”

You know, for the slightly personal vendetta I have against Teach for various crimes (primarily ensuring I will never have more than a handful of clips and frames of Thatch to fawn over and the entirety of Marineford), I can't help but wonder about his motivation.
And feel kind of bad for him.
Canonically, he never sleeps.
Like, ever.
And that just makes me wonder how thoroughly he has to lie to himself about how he grew up. Like, it couldn't have been totally pleasant on a pirate ship. God knows Shanks is an alcoholic and Buggy is... Himself because of the few years they sailed with Roger.
But there's also no denying how much Whitebeard's crew cared about each other.
Was it the fact that he could never be at the top with his adopted family? With so many brothers and sisters, he's almost certainly not anyone's favorite.
He seems ambitious but lacking in some ethereal, key thing. Perhaps it's his duplicity that ultimately means he could never be Pirate King in any real sense. A title like that demands pride and an upfront declaration of self.
(we're not touching the multiple personality allegations for now)
And the symbol. Three heads.
Even when he struck out on his own, he couldn't seem to imagine actually being alone. And that's kind of curious, actually.
For someone so determined to cheat and steal his way to the top, to stand out amongst the rabble as Pirate King, he chooses to identify as one of many.
What does he fill his time with, now that he's thrown away so much in pursuit of power? Dreaming is such a big theme in One Piece, so for a man literally incapable of this, what does he have?
What does Teach tell himself late at night when everyone else is asleep. When the world is quiet save the waves lapping at his ship.
Does he laugh at Thatch's betrayed ghost? Chuckle at the ridiculous way Ace threw away his life rather than ally with Teach?
Or did that get old--if he ever did it to start with.
Does he feel Whitebeard's disapproving eyes on his back when the stars go dark. That disgusted tone informing him with absolute certainty that he'll never be Pirate King.
That everything he's ever done was for nothing. Less than nothing.
Blood so thick on his hands the ultimate prize will just slip off his fingertips, no matter how desperate he gets.
If Teach can't even escape his worst parts through dreams, does he even understand their weight anymore? Or does he only know that the taste of want never leaves his tongue
Wet gasps on an abandoned deck.
Soft clattering of slick beads on cobblestone.
Late night parties fallen into silence.
A snowstorm raging all around him.
Condemnation from the only man he ever called father.
Do you regret, Marshal D. Teach?
Can you even feel it?
Or are the nights just long stretches of darkness with hollow ripples on the ocean?

Hello
I just found your blog, and after reading some of your work, I decided to send you this idea, to know what you think

It takes place on the Mobi Dick, before Blackbeard's takeover

FemAce is sick, to the point that she has vomited on more than one occasion, they end up putting her on light duty and with restrictions on certain foods until further notice

Well, it turns out that between gossip and misunderstandings, the rumor that FemAce is pregnant is spread
and then someone comments that they saw her arguing with a blond revolutionary with a top hat

So a group of crazy Whitebeard pirates end up starting a war against the Rev because one of them got pregnant and left his little sister

Or how due to lack of communication the pirates declare war on the revolutionaries, when their 2nd commander got sick to his stomach a couple of weeks after discovering that his older brother Sabo is alive and He is an amnesiac revolutionary.
Okay I am a sucker for a good gender bender. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I’ve always had a soft spot for it when done right.
I love this idea.
Because Ace went on a mission and ran into Sabo. Her brother who she’s though was dead for nine years (let’s they are 19 in this and it’s a year before the canon begins)
Obviously she is distraught. Even more so when she tries to talk to him and he doesn’t remember her. They get into a small fight because she’s desperate for him to remember and he’s there like “who is this crazy pirate??”
He slips away from her (he is a super secret spy) and Ace is heart broken. She’s lost her brother again. She has no idea where he is. She looked but she has to return to the Moby.
When she gets there she’s super upset. She won’t talk to anyone, and locks herself in her room. She’s barely eating and what she does eat she can’t keep down. She’s making herself sick over her thoughts on Sabo. Did he truly forget them? Was it just her? Was she not good enough to remember? Was he happier without her around? She’s making herself miserable with all her spiraling what ifs.
The crew is worried. Ace is normally a ball of energy, till she passes out. It’s not like their little sister to mope in her room. She hasn’t done that since she officially joined the crew. The Ex-Spade members are super worried as are Thatch, Marcos, and Haruta.
Ace isn’t letting any of them in. She’s not letting Marcos, Deuce, or any of the medic staff look her over. They know she’s sick so they put her on light duty.
But with a ship as big as that rumors are bound to start. You’ve got a young, beautiful woman, who has left home completely alone, and comes back heart broken. She’s also getting sick all the time. She can’t keep any food down and she’s avoiding the medical team like the plague. Could it be? Is she?
Rumors start.
And with rumors comes speculation. Marco wants to crush this so he sends some people he trusts to go talk to the people on the island where Ace’s last mission was. He’s expecting the report to come back with “there’s a virus sweeping through the island with the same symptoms.” Or something like that. Something that would allow them to take action to help Ace and also squash the rumors about her.
Imagine his surprise when the scouts come back with reports about how Ace was seen with a Blond haired Revolutionary. That she kept chasing after him and the two got into many verbal disagreements. That Ace, their darling little sister, was alone for mutiple days with this boy. And now she’s sick and heartbroken.
Best case scenario, she had a crush and he broke her heart. The Whitebeard pirates will break his bones if that’s the case.
Worst case scenario
Marco needs to talk to Ace.
The investigation does the opposite of quelling the rumors. They are more rampant than ever. And know they have a face to go with them. And an organization.
Marco is trying to figure out how to best approach Ace to ask these invasive questions.
The crew (mainly lead by Thatch, Haruta, Izou, and made of former spade pirates and division 2 members) are planning how they are going to find this revolutionary.
Deuce is the only sensible one here as he tries his best to get his friend to talk to him. He can tell she’s hurting and Ace has never been good with trusting people with her pain. But he’s known her the longest. He was her first mate. If anyone can get her to talk it’s him.
This is mostly him bringing her light meals and sitting outside her door waiting for her to open up in her own time. He’s heard the rumors and they upset him on many levels. One he hates them talking trash about Ace. Two he might still have the biggest crush on his ex-captain. He’s not expecting it to go anywhere or to ‘win her love by being the nice guy’ he’s got a crush but her friendship is more than enough. That doesn’t mean he’s not going to be furious and protective of his friend if someone knocked her up and then abandoned her (I will make everything AceDeuce if you let me. My boy just needs to tell her his feelings)
Meanwhile

Sabo is having his own mental breakdown because the girl he met won’t leave his mind. He starts doing research and finally his memories snap back into place. And holy crap!!! He has a sister! He has siblings!!
This realization comes just in time for him to start looking for Ace and to run into some very upset Whitebeard pirates.
“I’m looking for Portgas D. Ace!” These are Ace’s crew mates! He’s about to see her again. He can apologize for not remembering her and they can have the reunion they should have. and then he can ask her about Luffy.
The Whitebeard pirates look at this blond haired boy. “You’re a revolutionary aren’t you?”
Sabo normally wouldn’t admit to that but maybe Ace told them about him. If it gets him to his sister faster than
 “Yes I-”
That’s all he gets out before getting punched in the face. The fight is on. Sabo is so confused. The revolutionary army has no arguments with the Whitebeard’s. But they are yelling at him for “getting their little sister pregnant.” Which what???? He’s so confused right now. He’d remember that. Wouldn’t he?
So know you have Sabo running from the Whitebeard Pirates while also trying to sneak on to their ship. And Ace who’s just living in her own world completely unaware about the rumors and Sabo’s many near death experiences. Until he finally gets on the ship. He sees her walking and calls out. Ace turns and see him. She’s so happy to see him, and he recognizes her this time! “Sabo!” She starts to run towards him when he gets tackled by about 5 crew members. “What are you doing?” Because what is going on?
The crew are yelling about this being the guy who broke her heart. Which like yes but not the way you think. And then some fool yells something about Sabo being the father. And now both Ace and Sabo are dumbfounded because “that’s my sister/brother”
All in all a weird month or two for the Whitebeard pirates. Their hearts are in the right place but they need to fact check thing before they jump people

back to our regularly scheduled rhea brainrot!
some explanations under the cut ^^
top 5 saddest rhea moments đŸ˜č🙀
1. Eating her devil fruit
One night, Rhea finally had enough of being forgotten and ignored by her family and ran away to the forest, planning to never come back. She thought that if she was “gone for good,” it would make them realize their mistake.
Over the course of a week, she sustained herself off of the diverse plant life, and learned survival skills by following the patterns of a family of wildcats.
However, only while watching the mother cat gently care for her cubs did Rhea realize that no one had come looking for her. She had purposefully stayed near the edges of the forest, hoping that maybe someone would find her. There among only the trees, she cried until her chest hurt; unheard, unseen, & forgotten.
She spends one more night out in the woods, running low on accessible food sources in the forest shallows. She spots a new fruit that she’s never seen before, and in a moment of naivety, cuts a piece and pops it into her mouth. So shocked from the bitterness, she instinctively swallows the fruit. Effectively traumatized, she leaves the rest of the fruit for the animals and heads home.
There was no one to greet her when she arrived home, no greeting in the following days, no greeting from even the townspeople. No one had noticed she had even left, and somehow, she felt more unheard than before.
2. Learning to be selfish
The Whitebeards notice the way Rhea doesn’t ask for things the way kids normally would. Over the smallest requests, she would avert her eyes and bow her head. When shown the barest act of patience or compassion, her eyes would gloss over a little bit.
Marco, being the one she trusts the most, decided to address this. Through various conversations, Marco attempts to piece together the life Rhea lived before setting sail. She would talk about God and punishment, the sea and vengeance, earning and losing love through action. While much of her worries were padded in metaphor, wether from fear of admission or simply the phrases she was fed, Marco could gather that her sense of self worth was too damaged for a girl of 10 years old.
On a day where Rhea was feeling particularly vulnerable, she finally tells Marco about her family. How she was forgotten in place of the new “first son” of the household; how she made herself small so that, maybe, she’d be good enough of a daughter to be remembered. She laughs emptily about it, claiming she understands the pressures of having a second child.
“Well, It’s their first life after all,” She gives her parents too much grace for Marco to accept. “But isn’t it yours too?” That short sentence is enough for Rhea’s world to break.
She’s overwhelmed with all the things she wants but never asks for. “Tell us what you want, and you’ll have it. You can be selfish, you’re a pirate!” Marco encourages. “I want to have my hair brushed,” she starts at a whisper. Her voice grows louder as she states her greedy desires. “I want to be hugged,” “I want to be noticed,” “I want to be loved!”
She’s sobbing into the fabric of her too-big sleeves by the end, and Marco holds her close in comfort.
3. Father
Her struggle to feel worthy is a difficult unlearning process. No matter the words of support that her brothers gave her, it didn’t make the feeling of weakness go away. When you’re surrounded by men as strong as monsters, it’s difficult to not compare your own abilities.
Her feelings of inferiority are especially supported when she needs to be comforted from whispers of battle on the wind. Too many times has Rhea watched images of her brothers’ blood from the backs of her own eyes. Her observation haki forces her to listen to their panicked heartbeats from where she tucks herself away in the smallest corner of the ship.
“She’s just soft,” she overhears Thatch say, after another dizzying afternoon of trying to press the remnants of wounds not her own out of her head. “I know, and that’s why I’m worried.” Marco responds quietly.
She tries to swallow her pain, make herself tougher in order to earn her place in the crew. She fails relatively quickly, lashing out due to the suppression of her hurt.
Whitebeard confronts her when she’s sulking while walking along the railing late at night. He calls her over to his throne, reprimanding her for her dangerous habit. She’s quiet when crawling into his lap, and still while wrapped into his cape.
“Rhea, did you know, I wanted to say yes. The very moment you first asked to fly under my flag.” Rhea was confused, Pops was rarely this sentimental unless he was drunk. “Why didn’t you?” she asks. “On these seas, there’s no guarantees. I could tell you were a child who deserved a long and happy life, there was no guaranteeing that if I had immediately said yes.”
“I don’t understand
” her confusion and hurt grows, “You don’t have to. What matters is now; and now, I see I made the right choice. I want you here, and I’m glad that you’re my daughter.”
The words from Pops felt concrete, they held the truth that Rhea was seeking. It extinguished her tangled feelings of jealousy and insecurity; The words she needed from a father.
“Even if I’m useless?” “You don’t need to prove your value to be loved! Who do you think I am, Big Mom!?” Whitebeard jokes, and Rhea laughs easy.
4. & 5.? Permanence
Rhea holds onto familiarity with desperation. She refuses to let go of things that are long gone, deluding herself that somehow she’ll get it back.
She had blissfully ignored death, convincing herself that her family was untouchable by those things. Ignoring the signs of age and wear on her crewmates. When Thatch dies, and the Paramount war happens, and she can no longer cling onto childish fantasies.
Rhea’s birthday is shortly after the Grudge war. Her brothers ask her over the snail what she wants, promising they’ll get her anything to cheer her up from their bleak loss streak. All she wants is to go home.
She misses the rock of the waves when she sleeps; The old doors that she needed to close with a little more force; The faces of her family and the easy conversations. Now, her heart twists at the thought of the Moby Dick. The ship sits in pieces under its enemy’s water.
She feels nothing but sickness when she turns 21. The thought that she had out-aged Ace haunted her all day. She couldn’t stand it.

I need more siblings! reader and ONE PIECE character head cannons
A/n I’m tired and there’s probably a bunch of mistakes but I don’t care lol- I just need more found family stuff- this is the first time I’ve posted anything like this so yeah! Please tell me if there’s any mistakes or stuff I’m not to familiar with tumblr so I don’t know how to make it look nice :P
Whitebeard pirates
Like imagine being the youngest in a crew; you call white beard ‘gramps’ instead of pops. And he constantly dotes on you and tells you stories of his past adventures
Depending on how old you are (10-13), he encourages you to explore, isn’t offended if you want to travel the world someday on your own, and doesn’t want you to feel pressured by the white beard name. Probably tells you lots of stories and gets his sons to help teach you how to sail and learn different things to see what you are interested in.
* (14-16) if you decide to sail on your own, he’s happy and supportive! You’ll probably find that someone from the crew isn’t *too* far behind you, though, always making sure you are safe and out of trouble. If you decide to stay with a white beard, it’s a fight between the division commanders to see who gets you in their troop!
* Just-
* Father figures Marco and thatch-
* Thatch is always trying to one-up Marco and teach you cooking, while Marco wants to introduce you to medicine-
* Extensive cuddle sessions cause you fall asleep????
* Big brother! Ace who is over the moon with having a little sibling, telling you stories about him when he was younger and his brothers
* Brother! Ace is always helping you with pranks and Shenanigans
* And don’t even get me started on the boys protecting you if need be-
* I can imagine white beard having you stay on the ship in case of a battle, but if it’s like a thing where you're on an island and suddenly get swamped by marines, I can imagine
* Ace is coming to rescue you while Marco checks you over for injuries
* Just feeling so protected by your found family and thatch carry’s you back to the ship on his shoulders
Straw hat pirates
* I can see this going a few different ways- so I’m going to do it based on characters rather than scenarios-
* Luffy was used to being the youngest sibling- but being older than you and your captain ignited a special spark in him
* Will goof off- but safely? If that makes sense??
* Like walking on the railing of the sunny but his arms are around your waist to make sure you don’t fall-
* Sneaking into the kitchen to get snacks and he goes first, so if Sanji and Nami set up a trap, he gets stuck instead of you-
* Will make sure your hold on him is secure before he slingshots ya’ll anywhere
* Also!!! Special hat privileges???
* Seeing you in his hat reminds him of when shanks gave the hat to him when he was a kid- and he understands why shanks gave him the hat kind of?
* Feels like he’s passing on the torch :)
* Zoro is the protective level headed older sibling
* Not afraid to tattle to Nami if he catches you stealing from the pantry-
* Definitely a tough-love kind of brother-
* But when ya’ll are in town or on an island, he lets you hold his hand and guide him (even if you probably get him just as lost as he would have gotten you-)
* Makes sure you know how to take care of yourself in a fight if he isn’t there to protect you, which is RARE-
* If ya’ll are on the ship and you need to nap? Go to this man right here-
* Big brother cuddles are top-tier.
* Fights with shitty cook over who’s the best big brother-
* I feel like Sanji, Nami, and robin will make all kind of act similarly to a crew member who they see as a little sibling
* Spoilers but their childhood?
* Not good-
* They’re going to make sure you get the best out of your childhood- be its fantastic food and sweets from Sanji
* Learning about your special interests and gardening with Nami
* Or braiding robins hair and telling stories
* These three are the best to go to when you want to feel like a kid instead of a pirate.
Warlords/yonkos
* Mihawk is a dad
* Living up to his dilf reputation (those are head cannons for another day-)
* I can imagine he doesn’t show outward praise- so sometimes, as his kid, you kind of feel like he doesn’t care(?), but in reality, he does, shows it differently
* Did you master a new sword move? He may not pat you on the head or say a good job, but his affection and pride will come the way of
* Taking you to the local village and trusting you to run around and buy things without supervision
* Making your favorite meals
* Easing up on your chores around the castle
* Small but meaningful things like that
Red haired pirates
*

* I haven’t seen the film red- so-
* Bare with me-
* Being the youngest on the red-haired pirate's ship is like having a bunch of cool uncles who act way too stupid for their age-
* You’re probably the most mature person on the ship despite your age, thanks to benn single-handedly making sure you didn’t turn out like your captain.
* Tbh Benn probably didn’t let shanks interact with you much till he was SURE you wouldn’t imprint on him as some other rubber child has done in the past
* He doesn’t want you to try and stab your eye out.
* Shanks himself is probably the worst when it comes to teasing, be it your height, age, inexperience- literally anything- but he definitely is the person to go to if you need a place to hide/vent
* He knows how to comfort people, so he can tell when you need him in a silly mood or a serious mood. He tries to be more attentive, learning from his past mistakes with other children
* His cape is a 10/10 hiding spot if needed

“There There,” Ace sighed, picking up the crying child in his arms.
“Did you run too fast?”
“I -I “
“Hey, Hey, breath for okay? Can you remind me how you take deep breaths?”
“Y-you smell the flowers,” they sniffled, taking a deep inhale from their nose.
“And you blow the candles,” they finished as they blew out the air harshly.
“Good, that’s good. Now, how about you do it again gently? You blow any harder, and I’m gonna fly away,” he spoke as he walked out of the Deck and towards the mess hall.
“No!” They let out a teary giggle at his words
“You did! Almost went flying off the ship!”
“No, you didn’t,” they laughed, their previous incident long forgotten in their brother’s playful teasing.
“Oh? Are you being Mean to your big brother, Dokucha?” Another voice piped in
“No!”
“They are! Almost blew me off the Deck. I asked them to blow the candles, and the little rascal looked like they were trying to blow out a bonfire.”
“How mean, Dokucha!” Thatch gasped, joining in on the teasing of the small child
“You’re mean!” Dokucha accused instead
“Well, I guess I must live up to the title then,” Thatch laughed with a mischievous tone as Ace passed them to him and began tickling the child.
“No!!! Aceee-niii save me”
“Nope, you’re on your own,” he called with a grin as he promptly backed away and made his way to serve himself, ignoring the shrieking and laughs leaving the pair.
“Do ya give up pumpkin?”
“I’m Sorry, Thatch-nii, you’re not mean; you’re the best brother ever!!”
“There ya go, I always knew I was your favorite,” he exclaimed with a grin as he placed the small child down, grinning as they turned around to stick their tongue at him.
“Go have a sit, ya rascal; I have to make sure those idiots don’t destroy my kitchen.”
“Okay, Big Brother,” They happily call, climbing their way into a nearby chair as he walked closer to where the rest of his brothers were
“So what was it this time?” He called to Ace as he served him
“Ran over a loose board on the Deck,” He replied, gulping down the food.
“Again?”
“No, last time there was a loose board in the storage room,” Izou piped in.
“Ah”
“Any scratches this time?”
“No, they just got a go-
Ace’s words were quickly cut off as the sound of a familiar scream reverberated across the mess hall, springing all of the brothers into action as they ran toward the source of the scream; Thatch letting out a cry of his own as he spotted what was wrong.
Somehow, the young child had managed to impale themselves with one of the many forks that lined the long tables, blood already pooling beneath them as droplets of blood fell down to their elbows and falling to the floor in a terrifying but rhythmic fashion.
“Somebody get Marco!” Izou called, his commanding voice causing his crewmates to spring into action shortly after returning with a worried Marco in tow
“Here, let me have a look at the,” Marco hurriedly called to Thatch, who by now had taken the child and kneeled on the ground with them, attempting to stop the bleeding and whispering comforting words to Dokucha.
“Hey, I need to take this out; I will be really quick.”
“Is-I -is it g-go-gonna -hurt?” they hiccuped, words close to incomprehensible among their cries
“Yes, but just for a second. I just need to take it out so I can heal it,” he assured them as he took hold of the handle and prepared his flames.
He threw a smile their way as he quickly pulled the fork from their hand and replaced it with his own hand, flames spreading to the small child’s hand.
“And all done, see good as new,” he calls, waving their hand around to prove their statement.
“Ah! It’s gone!” they exclaimed, marveling at their brother’s powers, only to frown as they looked down.
“Wah, Thatch-nii, I’m sorry I made a mess again,” they cried.
“Don’t worry about that muchkin, accidents happen; what I do want to know is how in tarnation you managed to get a fork in your hand,” he questioned
“I was just trying to play Saber-nii’s game.”
Ace tilts his head at this, a confused look growing on his face.
“What kind of game is it that would end up with a fork in your hand?”
“Ah, I saw Saber-nii do it with a knife, but I only had a fork; you have to put the fork in between your fingers and then go really fast!” they exclaimed, gesturing to the movement they were supposed to be doing and ending their explanation with a smile
“I got to do it really fast! Ah, Ace-nii? Why does your face look scary?”
“Don’t worry about it, fire-cracker; I just remembered I have to do something real quick,” he replied with a tight smile and took his leave.
They turned towards Thatch and Marco, who had similar annoyed looks on their faces.
“Where is Ace-nii going? Is he going on the striker? I want to go!” they exclaimed, jumping down from Marco’s hold and running toward the second commander.
“Not so fast,” Marco calls, easily taking hold of them again.
“Ace just needs to talk to Saber about something; he will be back soon, and I’m sure afterward he can give you a ride in the striker,” Thatch assured them.
“Really!?”
“I don’t see why not; we can ask him when he comes back, okay? How about you go find Pops and tell him what you were up to? We also need to talk to Saber.”
“Okay!”
---
“And then I came here!” they exclaimed, finishing their story with a smile.
“I bet you cried like a baby, didn’t you?”
“I did not! I was really brave!”
“Guhahaha!”
“Don’t laugh, Papaw!” they exclaimed with a pout.
“Fine, Fine; listen, Dokucha,” he called, causing their pout to fall as they looked at him with a slight tilt of their head.
“Don’t repeat what your brothers are doing, alright?”
“Why? My brothers are so cool! I want to be like them!”
“Because they are a bunch of idiots who don’t think before they do something,” he grumbled, downing his drink.
“You’re mean, Papaw; they aren’t idiots! I’m gonna tell Miss Tate you’re drinking again!” they exclaimed, jumping down from him and running toward the clinic.
“You damn brat!”

Hello!~
Can you do a whitebeard x fem reader?
Basically the reader is whitebeard biological daughter and she's the stagetist of the whitebeard pirates
She's only a year younger than ace who has this HUGEEEE crush on her and is willing to do anything (kinda found this ironic considering that ace is Roger son and the reader is the whitebeard bio daughter)
The reader is often referred as the " Gem of pirates", "The of Lady of whitebeard pirates", and " Lady name"
The reader is often baby by others but knows how to fuck up someone
How would ace and her first interact? How he courts her? Maybe the crew getting protective once they learned her and ace dates
(Maybe set in where thatch, whiteboard, and ace lived pls)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Can you also based reader outfit out of this? Oh~ and maybe her weapon can be like a gun hidden within the umbrella
-It had taken so many attempts, so many failures, for Ace to join Whitebeard’s crew, and while initially annoyed, Whitebeard grew fond of the hotheaded young man who never seemed to give up, and he fit in with all his other brats.
-Your papa knew that you could handle yourself, you wouldn’t have been on the ship otherwise if you couldn’t, and everyone knew that you could and will put anyone in their place, papa included.
-You were known throughout the world as Whitebeard’s Daughter, but you were also referred to as Gem of Pirates, as you were like a gem, closely guarded by your papa and your ‘big brothers’, and nobody was allowed to get close to you.
-However
Whitebeard could only stare across the deck of the ship, seeing you, his biological child and only daughter, smiling and laughing with many of the others, while Ace looked at you like he was a lovesick pup.
-During Ace’s journey of joining, you had been watching from afar, so he had never met you until he officially joined when you came out during his welcome party, as your dad used anything as an excuse to drink.
-When Ace first saw you, all his previous confidence drained out of him instantly as he turned bright red and could only speak gibberish to you, which quickly had the whole ship laughing at him and they had never let him live it down on how shy he was with you.
-You thought it was rather cute to be honest, to see him so flustered, he wasn’t like the normal pigs who would go after you, treating you with no respect, Ace was a gentleman, calling you Lady Y/N, something that quickly went through the crew and soon everyone was calling you that, something you thought was annoying at first, but it grew on you.
-Papa trusted you, he knew that you could handle Ace, if he were to ever try something, but something, in his gut, told him that Ace wasn’t that type of man, but still, papa must worry, as having such a pretty daughter comes with big responsibilities!
-Plus, you also had a crew full of brothers who wouldn’t hesitate to throw hands for you, if you were to ask them too, so you were completely safe!
-This was something Ace learned early on, when he tried getting closer to you, as many took him to a secluded area on the ship and threatened him that if he were to try anything, they wouldn’t hesitate.
-As he learned, spending time with the crew and the ship, Ace soon was another of your protectors, not hesitating to leap first if he felt like you were being disrespected, which caused more problems for you.
-You already had to play babysitter with a lot of these impulsive idiots, you didn’t need another, especially one who was a hot head and had a flame Devil Fruit ability!!
-Ace was so soft on you, to him, you hung the stars in the skies just for him, and he is unworthy of your attention, but he wants it all for himself.
-However, he still gets shy if you look directly at him, unable to maintain eye contact with you, something you thought was really cute, poking his cheek as you teased him playfully while all the others picked on him.
-Whitebeard could only watch with a grin on his face, seeing Ace leaping up at Marco and Thatch, looking like a demon, “You bastards!!” as you leapt, grabbing the back of his pants to keep him from killing the other two commanders, “Knock it off, you idiots!!”
-Whitebeard enjoyed seeing his brats so lively, all of them.

Dude I just fucking know Deuce was growing white hairs and losing his hair at the ripe age of 18 because of the fucking ace of spades
So I just imagine Deuce's hair falls out because of how much stress he's going through. Guess who? It's yours truly! Portgas D Ace! Your free stress machine!
Skull is just looking at the deck and seeing multiple long blue hair strands: "uh- guys, I don't think Kotatsu's fur is blue.."
Corilina is just looking at Skull in confusion: "What the hell do you mean about Kotatsu's fur being blue?" Corilina crouching down to see the hair "oh. That's Deuce's hair"
"What."
Another thing. Deuce just wants to beat the shit out of ace for being so stupid but he can't because he's his captain ans he loves him. (Your honor they are very gay)
Ace: "Hey deuce do you think I can swim?"
Deuce looking at him in frustration and confusion: "Of course, you can't swim! Your brother can't swim, big mom and Kaido can't even swim, hell! Even Sengoku can't even swim! So how the hell can you think, you a fireman, can swim?!"
Ace shrugs: "Dunno, let's find out!!" Ace just casually jumping into the ocean like he isn't going to drown.
Deuce runs over to the railings to see if Acs is going to come back up. He doesn't.
"SHIT. FUCKE ME OH MY FUCKING ARRARAFHTS" deuce rips off his coat and jumps into the ocean saving ace. Deuce's bare body is covered in stinging salty sea water. Ace collapses on the deck coughing up sea water. Deuce slaps him awake (multiple times)
Ace bolts up and looks at Deuce "that was fun!" He grinned
Deuce looks at him at pure anger and disbelief "YOU FUCKING PIECE OF SHI-"
Also when Ace wanted to kill Whitebeard ans Deuce had to patch him up
Every single day Ace had to goto Deuce when he got hurt.
Ace: "Deuce I'm sorry-"
Deuce looks at him after he bandages him: "Coms back here one more time. I will rip your limbs one by one and choke you with your instines." Ace shivered
Whoops, guess what!!! Ace had to go to deuce again. Ace bolts out Deuces cabin "DEUCE SHIT- IM SORRY!-"
"STOP FUCKING APPEARING TO MY CABIN HURT!"
Thatch looking at Ace: "Realtionship peoblems?"
"First mate problems."

The Daughter's Return: Month 5
The Road to Love
Part One | Next Chapter | Table of Contents | Read on AO3
This idea was sent to me by Anonymous! CW: kinda long but it's from Ace's perspective! Characters: female reader x Portgas D. Ace Word Count: 5.2k
From the moment Ace heard your name, he was intrigued.
“It’s a crazy story,” Thatch said as everyone sat down around him. “The Clandine Incident was one of the main reasons Y/N’s bounty skyrocketed. She’s got one of the highest bounties on the ship, especially for her age.”
Blamenco chortled. “She’s only got a big bounty cuz-”
“Though she’s always been a legend,” Marco said, cutting off Blamenco and ignoring his words. “The Navy has been trying to figure out who keeps ruining their plans for years. They just never expect it to be a teenage girl. It’d be higher if they knew everything she actually did.”
“Right,” Kingdew laughed. “They underestimate her because of her reckless appearance to them. They think she improvises everything she does.”
Ace raised his eyebrow. “How so?”
Izou hummed, knowing that the crew’s praise for you would have repercussions. This new crewmember seemed a little too interested in you. Still, Izou decided to indulge him. It’d be interesting to see where this all went.
“The Clandine Incident is the best example,” Izou said. “The Navy had captured about forty of our men. It was looking bad. However, they had captured non-devil fruit users, so they were all in metal cages for transport.”
Marco interrupted and took over the story. “Because so many of Whitebeard’s men had been captured, almost all of the Navy’s forces had been called back to escort the prisoners to ships to be hauled off to Impel Down. Which left their defenses low, and we could launch an assault on our actual target and free a royal member of an island we watched over. They didn’t even have time to call reinforcements before the prince was released.”
“She and Marco led the operation to free the prisoners.” Thatch grinned ear to ear, staring at the first division commander. “I heard things got quite messy, but they got in and out without any fatalities.”
“Messy?” Ace inquired, nudging his friend to tell him more. “How so?”
“Don’t worry about it,” Marco grumbled. “Just a few messes I had to clean up.”
Thatch cackled. “If I recall, it was Y/N who did the cleaning up, not the other way around!”
Marco rolled his eyes. “She’s always the one to make the sacrifice play, and she got mad when I wouldn’t let her do it. I swear she’s careful with everyone’s life but her own. ”
Ace could relate, which only made him even more interested in meeting you. “When’s she get back?” he asked, unable to hide the enthusiasm in his voice.
The whole table erupted into laughter at his question.
“She’s off limits, dude,” Vista said, giving Ace an empathetic pat on the shoulder. “If you try anything, Pops will kill you.”
“Pops wouldn’t get the chance,” Thatch said. “Marco would get you first.”
“Sorry man, they’re right. I know you’re my brother-” Marco smiled and shook his head. “But she’s outta your league anyway. Don’t even try it.”
“Look at him getting all protective!” Fossa bellowed, and the table erupted in laughter again.
Ace gave a confused smile, looking around the table. It was clear he was missing something. Something obvious that everyone else seemed to be aware of.
“Go check the bounty poster room,” Curiel whispered, giving him a little nudge. “You’ll figure it out.”
Newgate. You were a Newgate. There was no chance in hell you’d ever even look his way. And if you knew who his father was
No, Whitebeard would never allow the son of his rival to date his only daughter.
And yet, as he stared at your old bounty poster, he couldn’t help but think there was so much more to you than a name.
--
Months later, Whitebeard stood towering over Ace. He had been called in for a meeting with his captain, and Ace was worried that he had screwed up big this time.
“There’s something I should probably tell you, Ace.”
His voice didn’t sound upset, and Ace relaxed a bit. “What’s up Pops?”
“My daughter is returning home soon, which is quite a joyous occasion-”
Ace nodded. “I’m excited to meet her.”
Whitebeard watched the second division commander carefully. “There’s something I should warn you about.”
“Oh, Pops, don't even worry about that.” Ace’s cheeks were hot, embarrassed where this was going. Of course he knew about Ace’s flings and flirtations on the ship. Of course Whitebeard didn’t want him anywhere near you. “I’m not like that anymore. Besides, everyone has already told me.”
Whitebeard’s eyebrows knitted in confusion. “Told you what?”
“That Y/N is off limits. I shouldn’t interact with her or-”
Whitebeard laughed, his jolly expression returning at the absurdity of Ace’s comment. “Ace, son. I don’t care what you do in your free time. I don’t care what she does in her free time. My daughter is an adult. She can make her own decisions. I trust her with that ability. If I didn’t, she wouldn’t be my most valuable strategist.”
“Oh.” Ace suddenly felt extremely uncomfortable. He had never read a situation more incorrectly than he had in this moment. “Then what did you want to talk about?”
“My daughter,” Whitebeard said, still chuckling. “She can be
intense. And unfortunately, I believe she may take out some of that intensity on you.”
It was Ace’s turn to be confused. “Why?”
“Well
” Whitebeard’s eyes flicked towards the door nervously. “I promised her the second division commander spot before she left. But clearly, that’s been filled since she’s been gone.”
“Oh!” Ace said. “I can step do-”
“No.” Whitebeard's voice was firm and final. “You are the second division commander. But I am placing her under your command.”
Ace’s mouth dropped open. He hadn’t been expecting that. He had expected Whitebeard to keep you as far away from him as possible. “Are you sure?”
“I believe you are most equipped to handle her.”
Ace laughed nervously. “Surely Marco. Or Thatch. Or Izou-”
“Are you not comfortable with it? I’d prefer she stay in division two for a few days to try it out. Would you like me to move her now instead?”
“No!” Ace rushed to say. “I’m honored to take her in my division. She’ll be a major asset.”
Whitebeard chuckled. “And a major pain in the ass at first. Give her some time, as a favor to me.”
Ace gave a nervous smile, unsure what exactly he was signing up for. “Sure, Pops. Anything-”
Suddenly a young woman burst through the door, storming up to his captain. Ace tensed, unsure of who you were or what was about to go down.
“Y/N,” Whitebeard smiled, and Ace could feel himself start to sweat. He hadn’t expected this to all happen so soon. “You’re-”
“You bastard!” You screamed, pulling out a kunai. “You promised!”
Ace could hear the hurt in your voice, and he felt sorry for you. And then he started to feel sorry for himself. You couldn’t be the girl Marco had raved about, the cute girl in pigtails, who would do anything for a piece of chocolate. You couldn’t be the girl who had the skill set of a thousand men.
You were far too rude to be the girl he imagined. Nobody talked to his father like that, especially not some entitled girl who thought it was her birthright.
He threw a knife at your kunai, knocking it out of your hand. When you shot him a glare, he returned one back. He wasn’t going to let you intimidate him so easily.
“Stay out of this, newbie,” you snapped at him. If this was how mad you were about a kunai, he didn’t want to imagine how mad you’d be when you found out about the position.
You reached into your pouch and he lunged at you, grappling your wrists. He wouldn’t let you hurt or even attempt to intimidate his father, the person who saved him and called him his own. You had no idea how selfish you were being or how good you had it, and it made Ace’s blood boil.
“I don’t know who you are,” Ace said, trying his best to sound intimidating. “But you have no right attacking Pops the moment you get on our ship.”
“Stay out of my affairs,” you snarled back.
His grip on you started to feel hot, and for a moment he was afraid he had let his anger get the best of him. And then it began to heat up so much that he had to pull away. You were simply too hot to hold onto.
You gave him a wicked grin of satisfaction, as if you were boasting about your victory in the small battle you momentarily had. But Ace was confused. How had you burned him? Nobody had managed to do that in a long time. Marco and the other commanders had talked about your ability before, but he had assumed it was just another type of fire or heat ability.
And then he remembered something Marco had said. How you had gone up against the lava vice admiral once, and you burned hotter than even him. A volcano fruit, Ace remembered. Your heat far surpassed him.
Oh, the two of you would make an interesting dynamic indeed. He was beginning to see why Pops had placed you under his command now. Ace wanted to know everything about you, and wanted to use you and your ability to his full advantage. He couldn’t wait to see what you could do, and what he could learn from you. He just had to get you on his side.
Which was easier said than done. You weren’t exactly thrilled to meet him.
And then the welcome party happened, and you all were stargazing when you had fallen asleep. He wanted to lay there forever, but Marco had eventually found you all. The first division commander picked you up and began to walk away before he turned back for just a moment.
“You’re going to fall in love with her, aren’t you?” Marco asked.
Ace scoffed in return. “I don’t fall in love.”
“Good,” Marco said. “Because she’ll break your heart.”
“Who’s to say I wouldn’t break hers?”
Marco glared at him, clutching you tighter to his chest. “If you even think about it, I’ll carry you out to sea and drop you in the ocean.”
Ace gave a light laugh, but quickly realized Marco was very serious in his threat. “Noted.”
“I’m serious, Ace,” Marco whispered. “Leave her alone. It won’t end well.”
Of course, he hadn’t listened, he was too captivated by you. After the election of new subordinate captains were solidified, Marco began switching his tune from warnings to encouragement, and Ace grew hopeful that you were interested in him. Marco even encouraged Ace to invite you to a party. But Marco was still clear: just because you needed friends didn’t mean you needed Ace.
And then Ace understood. You were about to lose most of your childhood friends, and you would need a new support system. Still, Ace got his hopes up that maybe you would feel something eventually. But for now, Ace would be okay with friends, as long as you stuck around.
A few nights later, he had really fucked up. He had taken Marco's advice, invited you to the party, and even made a bet with you about going drink for drink. And now, you were curled up against his chest, your skin warm against his. Every time you shifted or stretched, he found himself alert. He couldn’t sleep with you so close to him, his mind racing at one hundred miles per hour. You had wanted to sleep with him. Even if you hadn’t actually wanted to sleep with him, you did feel comfortable enough to fall asleep with him next to you. He didn’t know what to do.
He wanted you. He wanted to be with you. He wanted to only belong to you. He had never felt this way about another person before, but he knew it was good and true and that he was yours. He would find a way to tell you and hope you felt the same way. You had fallen asleep in his arms, after all. That had to count for something.
But the next morning you woke up in an unfamiliar place, and you had made it clear that while you appreciated his gentlemanly actions, you wanted nothing more. And so he held his tongue and went to the meeting he was summoned for, sleeping through the entire thing, wishing he was still in bed. Wishing you were still in his arms.
And then you had been offered a job by your father, one that would take you away from division two. Take you away from him. It took Ace every ounce of self-restraint not to question his captain. Why would he hurt him like this? Why would he let you and Ace get so close, just to take you away?
Instead, he went to you, begging for you to stay in the most vulnerable way he knew how. He would’ve done anything, answered any question if it meant you would stay with him just a little bit longer. The two of you had become friends. That’s how he felt, at least. He wasn’t sure how you felt, but he had to hope. And you stayed. You chose him, and his heart continued to burn only for you.
The subordinate captains’ goodbye party was a testament to your planning skills. It had mostly been for Whitey, but it wouldn’t have been obvious if he didn’t know you. And maybe he didn’t. After all, he didn’t pin you as the kind of girl to make out with just anyone after a game of shots. Not that he cared anyway. You had made it clear you didn’t want more than a professional relationship with him.
And yet, he still felt rather irritated by it all. He found himself receding from the party, deciding to find a quiet place to lean against the railing and stare out to sea in thought. He tried not to think about you, but all he could see was that red-haired boy and your lips smashed together. It should’ve been him there doing 5 shots with you. It should’ve been him getting a victory kiss. Not that little red-haired punk.
“Berry for your thoughts?” Whitey said, leaning on the railing next to Ace.
Ace looked over at her, startled. Whitey hadn’t talked to him since their fallout. She hadn’t even acknowledged his presence. And yet here she was, talking to him. She had to be drunk. It was the only explanation.
“Don’t look at me like that,” Whitey griped, though she wasn’t looking at him. “I know I’ve been shitty. But I’m not here to talk about us. I’m here to talk about you.”
“I actually wanted to find you,” Ace admitted. “I’m sorry about everything I put you through. That wasn’t fair and-”
“I don’t want to hear it.” Whitey let out a deep sigh and then continued. “You’re only apologizing because you know you might never see me again. And while I appreciate the sentiment, I don’t want it.”
“It’s not because you’re leaving,” Ace corrected. “It’s because-”
Ace hesitated. He wasn’t sure he wanted to be this vulnerable with Whitey for multiple reasons. He didn’t want to open old wounds. He didn’t want her passing it on to you. He didn’t want her to laugh.
“Go on,” Whitey said, finally turning at looking at Ace. She didn’t look upset or angry. In fact, she looked like she knew exactly what he was going to say.
“It’s because I know how you feel now,” he confessed. “And it feels really shitty. And I’m sorry.”
“We both wanted different things in that moment,” Whitey said. “I’m sorry for the part I played too.”
Ace shook his head. “You don’t have to apologize.”
“Yeah, I do.” Whitey laughed and took a long drink of her ale. “Hold on to that person that’s making you feel that way, though. She’s really special.”
Ace froze, worried she was going to tease him. But Whitey just gave him a friendly wink and left him alone.
Marco found him a few minutes later. “Commanders and Strategists. Let’s roll.”
Ace frowned. He wasn’t ready to see you again. He was still upset about your public flirtation with someone else. Maybe you were his karma, but he still hated it.
“Come on, lover boy. It’ll be fine.” Marco chuckled, pulling Ace back to the party. He was going to have to face you sooner or later, he knew that.
Luckily, the evening only went up from there.

Less than 24 hours later, the two of you were off on an impromptu mission. It was just the two of you, really. Kala and Mihal were coming too, but you all wouldn’t be together for long.
He would get you all to himself. Away from your father’s watchful gaze, Marco’s interference, and any boy who might have a crush on you. It would just be the two of you.
It had been fun, until women began crowding him, asking for dances. His heart broke a little bit when you told him to dance with them, but he listened. He had come here to spend the night with you, not with these snobby women who were dressed in gowns that were worth more than all the money he ever had as a child. But every time he looked for you, you were there, looking as beautiful and radiant as he had ever seen you.
Then you disappeared, and his heart beat out of his chest as he broke off a dance to search for you. He found you being led away by some pompous asshole who had been staring at you all night, and his stomach churned at the thought of what that man would try to pull once you were alone with him.
He hadn’t meant to make a scene. He was just so upset. He should’ve never left you sitting alone at that table. To hell with all of those women. To hell with everyone here. You were the only one who mattered to him.
“I’m sorry,” you whispered, and the hairs on Ace’s neck stood up.
And then you slapped him. Hard. Like you really, truly meant it. And as you began screaming at him, he slowly realized he would now have to be the decoy.
Some Marines grabbed his arms and hauled him away, but he couldn’t take his eyes from you, burying your face in that horrible man’s coat as you sobbed fake tears.
They set him in a chair and an official sat across from him. Ace had no idea who it was. If you were here, you would’ve been able to tell him his rank, name, weakness, and everything else he needed to know. But you were tucked away somewhere upstairs. Safe, hopefully.
“Listen son,” the man said, and Ace gritted his teeth. The only person who could call him son was Whitebeard, but he kept his mouth shut. The man didn’t seem to notice Ace’s seething rage, thankfully, and he continued. “I’m sure there was just a miscommunication. Why don’t you give me your commanding officer and we’ll get it all sorted out.”
“Commanding officer?” Ace questioned. He didn’t know any names. How could he have forgotten to do this? He should’ve paid more attention as you were pointing people out.
“And your name and rank.”
Ace hadn’t thought of any of those things. He hadn’t expected you all to get caught. Or at least, he had expected you to do all the lying for him.
“Kaclin McGrought, Captain,” Ace said. It was the first thing that came to his mind. “My Commanding officer is
”
Shit. Why could he only think of Garp? That would give him away immediately. Plus, Garp was here. They could just go ask him, and his cover would immediately be blown.
“My commanding officer is Clemence,” Ace tried to sound confident, like he knew exactly what he was talking about.
“Clemence?”
“From the East Blue?” Ace asked, raising his eyebrow. “Sir Clemence the Second? Surely you know him?”
The man nodded at a pair of lieutenants by the door, and they swiftly exited the room. Ace didn’t have a good feeling about any of this. He could only hope they weren’t heading to find and capture you. He could only hope you had come up with a better cover story.
A few minutes later, one of the lieutenants came back and bent down to whisper something in his interrogator's ear.
“So McGrought
” The man stared at Ace long and hard, and he knew he had been caught. “You and your commander don’t seem to exist. Why don’t you tell us who you really are?”
Ace swallowed, trying to clear the lump in his throat. He wasn’t so nervous for himself, but he hated not knowing about your status. “Who I really am?”
One good thing would come out of this, at least. The Navy would know his name now. At least they would know his power, and his position. He wouldn’t be some “failed rookie” amongst their conversations.
“Son-”
“Portgas D. Ace, Second Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates.” Ace erupted into flames, and most of the people took a few steps back from the heat. “And don't call me son.”
With that, he threw off his shirt, turned, and jumped out the stained glass window. He wanted the last thing they saw to be his father’s symbol.
As he burst through the window, he only had one thought on his mind: he had to get to you. He had to make sure you were okay.
That was the first and last time Ace underestimated your strategy ability. Even as you all spoke to his grandfather, even as you raced through the woods and spent the night in a borrowed house, he couldn’t help but admire just how brilliant you were.
As the two of you walked through the town and snuck onto the beach, as you changed your plan on a dime and found a way to make it work, as you taunted a Vice Admiral, he couldn’t help but smile giddily, knowing you were his. And he was yours.
He would have to tell Whitebeard, of course. He should’ve been more concerned about his fate, but he felt invincible, watching you as you slept on the boat ride back to the ship. You were together. Nothing could stop him now.
Standing in front of Whitebeard was a much different feeling. But he needed to tell him. Not just because it was protocol, but because Whitebeard was one of the few men Ace respected in this world. He deserved to know.
“We’re dating.” He couldn’t bring himself to look at either of your faces when he spoke the words. He didn’t want to see his initial reaction, and he didn’t want to see your wrath.
Whitebeard sent you out immediately, which was probably the best outcome. Ace could probably handle one angry Newgate. But there was no way he’d survive two of you angry at him.
Ace could feel Whitebeard’s eyes on him, but he refused to look back. He was afraid of the disappointment he’d see if he looked.
He stared at his feet instead. “I like her quite a lot, Pops. I’ve never felt like this before.”
“Ace. Son. Look at me.”
Ace looked up, and was shocked to find Whitebeard staring at him with a glimmer in his eye. He looked
proud? No, that couldn’t be. Ace was so certain that he would only be met with pushback and disgrace.
“I told you when she first got here,” Whitebeard smiled. “My daughter makes her own decisions. She’s old enough to do that, and I’ll respect whatever decisions she makes.”
Ace couldn’t find the words he wanted to express. A part of him wanted to cry. A part of him wanted to ask a hundred questions.
“I’ll never hurt her,” Ace swore. “I’ll always protect her, I swear.”
Whitebeard chuckled. “You can’t promise both of those things in the same breath, son. So be careful with your words. Because she will hold you to them. She never forgets a promise. So don’t go making promises you can’t keep.”
“Yes sir,” Ace said, silently cursing himself for promising such grandiose things. “I will keep that in mind.”
“There’s one thing I’d like you to avoid mentioning to her, though. Just for the time being.”
“Of course, Pops! Anything!”
Whitebeard hummed and scratched at his mustache. It was clear he didn’t like what he was about to request, but it had to be done.
“Don’t tell her about the circumstances around your birth.”
Ace blinked. He was about to respond, but Whitebeard continued. “If it comes up naturally, you can tell her about it. But don’t tell her unless she asks.”
“Sure, Pops,” Ace said. A piece of him was relieved he had a reason to keep that information from you. He knew you didn’t like Roger much, and he didn’t want your opinion of him scarred by his father’s legacy. “Can I ask why?”
“It’s dangerous for anyone who knows of your heritage. And the more people who know, the more likely it is to get to the Navy. I trust my daughter of course, but I’d rather not put her at an unnecessary risk.”
“Of course,” Ace agreed. “That’s the last thing I want. I just want her safe. And I promise to do everything in my power to keep her from harm."
Whitebeard nodded. “Very well. Now, if we could go over the mission, I’d like a full report of last night.”
Ace’s brow knitted in confusion, and he glanced back at the door. “Is that really all? You don’t want to-”
“I told you, son. I trust my daughter. Whatever decisions she’s making, she’s thought of every possibility and every outcome. I’m not going to question my best strategist about her personal life.” Whitebeard let out a laugh. “But she does tend to fabricate awkward events, and she does it very well. Which is why she’s waiting on the deck and you’re in here. So, a full report of last night.”
Ace suddenly realized what a full report would mean. His cheeks began to burn, and Whitebeard let out a roaring laugh. “See, Ace? I knew you were the right man for the job. Let’s hear it.”
The only thing that got Ace through that report was the thought of you on the other side of the door, and the embrace he could finally give you once he got out.
--
Months went by, and you and Ace got closer every second you were together. You moved in with him in less than a month, having your own dresser and your own decorations sprinkled throughout the room soon after. He helped you hang up the flowers he had handcrafted for you, which felt like a lifetime ago, and he cleared off his desk so you had a place to work.
The two of you got a cat, and though Jinx didn’t take much of a liking to you, the three of you were your own little strange form of a family. The Whitebeard Pirates were still his family of course, but you and Jinx were the family he had chosen to be his. The family he cared for so deeply, the people he could never bear to lose. He hated being away from you, and he never got tired of you being around. Where others found you brash and intense, he found you endearing and confident.
--
You were in the crow’s nest, staring at the night sky when he realized it.
“I love you.”
You blinked, unsure if you had heard him correctly. You turned your head to face him, but he was still staring at the stars.
“Me?”
Ace gave a soft chuckle and then turned his head to look at you. His dark eyes reflected the stars shining above you, and you swore you could see the universe in his eyes.
“Who else would I be talking to?”
“You love me?”
A smile danced across his lips. “I love you.”
You scowled at him. “No you don’t.”
“I do.”
“Ace-“
“I know it’s love because I think about you all the time. Every time I see you, I smile and I swear my heart feels like it’s going to burst. The moment you leave I already start to miss you. When you wake up before me and slip out of bed to get coffee, I wake up in a panic, thinking you were just a dream. Because I swear you’re too good to be real. I love you because you’re the one person who I know I can always go to, no matter what, and I know you’ll help me in the way I need. Even if I don’t know how to help myself, you know how to because you know me.”
“Oh.” He had given a pretty solid argument, but you had felt all those things too. You had never felt them with anyone else, though. Just Ace.
Sometimes, you missed him so much your chest hurt. He was always the first person you searched for in a room. He was the person you looked to when you laughed, the person you wanted to always be near.
“I love you too, I think.”
Ace laughed. “You think?”
“I don’t know. I’ve never been in love before.” His confession had been so poetic. Yours felt embarrassingly weak as a follow-up.
“Me neither,” Ace admitted. “That’s how I know.”
If that was the case, his words made you certain now. Your heart quickened at the thought of confessing. You had already done it once, but the words held more weight now that you knew.
Your fingers found his, quickly interlacing with one another. You took a deep breath, still staring into his starry eyes.
“Then yeah, I love you. Because nobody has ever made me feel quite so happy with life as you do, Portgas D. Ace. Nobody has ever made me smile so early in the morning, or made me excited to go to bed. Nobody has ever made my life so infinitely better that I think I would probably die without them. Nobody has ever made me feel this way. Nobody but you.”
You would die for him. And you knew he would do the same. It wasn’t fair, but it was the way you were now. Every decision you made was to keep him alive. And every decision he made was to do the same for you.
But in a pirate world, death was always around the corner. It wasn’t a matter of if, but when. And every time you thought about the possibility of him being caught or killed, it made you physically nauseous.
Little did you know, that possibility would become a reality much sooner than either of you could have ever expected.
