Lifers x Crane Wives

I saw someone comment on a life series TikTok or something to try and pair all of the lifers to a crane wives song, without repeating songs. so obviously I spent an hour doing it

Grian—Tongues & Teeth (self explanatory if you’ve EVER heard this song)

Scar—Steady, Steady (this whole song is about how their partner is walking out but they still want to be “wild and free” which is just SO Scar coded)

Tango—Ancient History (he keeps teaming up with Skizz and I feel like this song vibes with that, it also just feels very Tango)

Skizz—Icarus (this man always gives himself up for his teammates I swear, and he fuels them to keep going. It also says “oh brother, brother” which feels like Skizz talking to any of his teammates to me)

Impulse—Allies or Enemies (Impulse has been very iffy on a lot of his alliances throughout the seasons, especially in third life and with the amount of playing all sides that man has done this songs feels right)

Cleo—The Glacier House (this. this is literally just her leaving Fairy Fort. The song is talking to/about her from probably Lizzie’s perspective, but like the last line is 100% as if Cleo was speaking)

Bdubs—Unraveling (Bdubs relies so heavily on his teammates, and when he doesn’t have that stability *cough* Etho *cough* he just kinda doesn’t know what to do so this song fits)

Mumbo—Keep You Safe (this man is by no means an aggressive/reckless player [see: Joel or Martyn] and he feels like he’s just here for the vibes and honestly? Love that for him. This song is about fear not keeping you safe and watching your friends run high risks, which just is very accurate to how Mumbo plays this series. I also feel like he could fit Rockslide when he goes red cause he goes from standstill to “drop dead sprint” in terms of aggression)

Lizzie—Shallow River/New Colors (Lizzie is the only one I put as two because both of these songs are just so fitting. Shallow river—“wasted all for the title, wasted all for the crown” reminds me of Lizzie trying to kill Scott and ending up dying herself instead. I also feel like parts of it could be dead Lizzie talking to Joel, the only person who is really mourning her. New Colors—“don't tell me that I can't, I need this“ and “I give up my air, to breathe” also feel very accurate with how she is trying so hard and just keeps failing )

Jimmy—Canary in a Coal Mine (no further context needed, we all know Timmy)

Scott—Little Soldiers (this is very flower husbands, but also just feels like Scott looking back on the last seasons including Pearl, Jimmy, Martyn, all his reluctant exes. Also this man is the watchers’ like least favorite person ever and this gives that vibe)

Pearl—Ribs (i changed this from New Discovery because Ribs is entirely about somewhat angrily protecting and helping yourself because nobody else would, and it really strikes me as Pearl with the some things having been good (Gaslight Gatekeep Girlboss) and some being bad (divorce quartet))

BigB—Not the Ghost (this man is so incredibly odd, he just constantly feels like he is being haunted by the watchers and just going about his life, he is the human personification of gaslight and we love that for him)

Martyn—The Hand That Feeds (he HATES the watchers with every ounce of his being, and with Ren gone I think this guy’s only purpose is just to spite them)

Joel—Sleeping Giants (go listen to it. That’s all there is to it, it just feels very Joel-ish, this lad is absolutely fucking mental)

Ren—Once & for All (this song feels like war and being betrayed, and Ren has been betrayed so much so it just fits. I mean come on “my blood’s forever on your hands” tell me that isn’t 100% something Ren would say)

Gem—Show Your Fangs (Girlboss moment, we love Geminislay. This woman is not someone to be underestimated and this song very clearly says that so it’s very Gem in my head. She doesn’t have enough lore yet to make it angsty but ONE DAY)

Etho—Never Love An Anchor (I can’t explain it, this song just has Etho vibes. I mean “It’s a secret I keep tucked inside my chest” just seems very him, I can’t really tell you why)

The ranchers were such a beautiful match up in double life I love the way double life brought unlikely duos together. Pairing up somebody doomed to die an insignificant forgotten death with somebody whose death is so important is literally a bad omen? It’s so gorgeously beautiful and clashes in such a good way.

Tango has never been with somebody who ever mourned him, and Jimmys never been unconditionally loved. Tango loves jimmy in a way he’s never experienced before, Tango treats Jimmy so well and never teases or belittles him. The ranchers never once blame each other for anything, they trust each other completely which is something neither of them are used to.

Tango is often treated as unimportant by everyone, especially his allies. He’s just an asset at best, never a friend and never somebody they even think twice about when things go sour. Tango dies, and nobody notices.

But not Jimmy. Jimmy is noticed. Jimmy is treated like a burden, and mocked and laughed at by his allies more than anything else. When Jimmy dies, it’s the start of chaos— and it’s all jimmy is watered down to be. “Silly stupid jimmy, dying first again.”

The two are so used to being tossed around and mocked by people who are supposed to be their friends, to experience such genuine unconditional love and trust is so new for them. The ranchers finally get a fresh start, and get to live life without fear of being betrayed by one and other.

They really are soulmates, and had no clue until double life came along to finally push them together. The two match so well, the unseen and the seen. The bad omen and his unlucky lover. The canary and the fire that burned its wings.

Tango no longer dies with nobody there to remember him. Jimmy no longer dies in the dark, first and alone. They have each other.

Tango is not used to someone remembering, so when he sees Jimmy waiting there for him in the afterlife, he cannot believe it. Why is he still here? Why hasn’t he moved on and forgotten tango like everyone else?

But Jimmy is home.

Tango does not realize it, but he is finally loved. Jimmy is still there, and he’s home. Along side tango in a charred and empty ranch, they are home. No matter what afterlife brings, whether it be a sunny field of cows, or a black void of nothingness—

List of people I expect to Snap and go scorched earth in order of soonest:

1. Mumbo. A controversial take but this man is… Not Well. Full of PTSD, paranoia, and generally Fucking Rabid. I would be shocked if he lasted another two sessions without going berserk and at least ditching his team.

2. Tango. Tangos always held a grudge better than Impulse/Pearl I think. And he has plenty of reason to be grouchy towards Both his team mates right now. (Etho and Bdubs are Like That with each other. And Tangos been betrayed-ish by both of them in the past) *

*I expect less Scorched Earth from him and much more ‘gets talked over to different allies and sells out his team mates.’ As he should.

3. Pearl, far less of a people pleaser than Impulse, and also under far more pressure/passive aggressiveness. This is going to be Spectacular. Mark my words. If Scott doesn’t die by her blade I’ll consider it divine intervention. Billy (new dog) is likely going to be the catalyst.

4. Impulse. Hehehe yeah. Impulse is a strategist and both Pearl and Scott would be good allies (separately. Dear Lord separately)(Cleo has a grudge against him). Add the people pleaser and he’ll last for a while. But this man is Going to break. Especially if the others stick him anywhere near the middle of their inner conflict.

5. Gem and Joel. What this looks like, what the catalyst is, etc. I cannot say. But it will happen simultaneously and it’ll be like Red LastLife Joel/Grian but on steroids.

Imagine the past soulmates of the Bad Boys seeing how much their partner has changed this season.

Scar couldn’t care less.

Or atleast that’s what he tries to tell himself. Grian never even loved him in Double Life so why should Scar care how he’s doing? BigB should probably be more confused then him even if Scar knows this entire persona is very out of character for Grian. The alliance probably won’t even last, knowing him he’ll probably betray his allies.

But no matter how much he tries to tell himself that he doesn’t care, he can’t get rid of the feeling that this is the only time Grian has changed his skin in the entire series.

The two full seasons Scar had been with Grian, the latter never switched out of his red sweater but now that Jimmy and Joel have rolled around suddenly he’s in a leather jacket with sunglasses? Occasionally even a suit? He can only feel a little hurt because at the end of the day Grian probably doesn’t care about him anymore…it’s not like hes made an effort to talk.

Tango doesn’t know how to feel.

This wasn’t his rancher, this wasn’t the ball of sunshine that he knew last season. This guy was…confident? He was bolder and Tango didn’t know if he liked that or not. His Jimmy, his rancher, was sweet and caring, even if he was airheaded at times it was all with their best interest in mind.

Maybe it was just his exterior now but it looked far less friendly than the one Tango knew, jean jacket now replaced with leather and sunglasses permanently covering his shining blue eyes. The oceans eyes that put out Tangos flames of rage in the lowest point of their lives when Scar had burnt down their ranch.

This Jimmy also only seemed to take risks and not care about his own safety, dying twice to pure stupidity and recklessness. It would hurt Tango, like a phantom pain, every time he had to see a death message from “SolidarityGaming” in chat. Especially if it was easily preventable. Especially if it wouldn’t had happened had Tango been with him instead.

Etho didn’t see a change.

Joel had always been more reckless than the average player. He would mlg off cliffs for crying out loud! His hostile personality also stayed the same although it did come out more being able to fully embrace it with this facade and all. While that personality may have been directed at him (or his cows) sometimes it was nothing Etho couldn’t handle.

Especially with that shoulder cut leather jacket, studs lining the edges of the sleeves and sunglasses that make it look as though he were staring you down whenever you talk to him.

There was a strange feeling in him though, when he heard that he wanted to built on the sea with Jimmy. That feeling only grew when he’d overhear the trio laughing about whatever jokes they’d decide to make.

Joel was also smiling. It’s not like he hadn’t with Etho but the smile Etho knew seemed to hide the truth of “please don’t leave me, I can do these things for you” “I’m worthy of your affection” whereas this one was of pure enjoyment with his team. He just wished he treated Joel better so that instead of only having memories from one season, he would be the one making Joel laugh and smile in this one.

so i've just finished watching all the first episodes, so i wanted to give my thoughts on the first Wild Life session:

-so much fun i love it so much. i'm so glad they're all still having fun and continuing the series, and that Mumbo and Lizzie came back, despite dying early in Secret Life (i was a tiny bit worried they might get a bit dejected and pass on this one). also thrilled Ren is able to play this time; he's a blast

-there is a lot of mistrust going around which is very curious to me. most of it stems from previous seasons and has no bearing on what was happening at the time. Pearl straight up telling Cleo she expected her to betray her; Mumbo and Skizz not trusting Martyn, and then Grian; and then not trusting that Martyn just wanted to use their enchanter; the huge immediate aggression towards Scar when he came out of the mountain into Grian, Skizz and Mumbo's base; Mumbo not trusting Skizz (his teammate!) when he asked for someone to pass him a diamond; Scott, Cleo, Pearl and Impulse assuming Joel stole their cows, probably more i'm forgetting. it's definitely obvious to me that these people have learnt how the games work and learnt from the pain (as we do). i'm very curious to see if the general server mistrust grows, and the impact it has on everyone and the people

-i love JImmy, Big B, Lizzie and Ren forming a dnd party and Ren (in true bardic fashion) has a guitar within reach and is willing to break into song at the first campsite (this honestly might be my favourite moment from all the life series at the moment. the guitar within reach, Ren's beautiful voice, how much the others thought it was great. fantastic vibes all around)

-i really want Scar and Martyn to team up. they are both instantly mistrusted, to the point that both of them (in their first episodes, no less) expressed that if people are going to treat them like a villain, then they may as well act like it. if the two of them team up to take revenge on everyone being mean to them in a new series i think they would be a force to be reckoned with

-Skizz and Mumbo is a fantastic team-up. both very genuine people who are so funny together

-i hope they get the lag fixed, or that it was just from the size-changing mod and they don't have to deal with it for the rest of the series

-Gem and Joel's partnership - in the early days Gem is going to be a fantastic counterbalance for Joel; help keep him calmer and curb his wild ideas. But once Gem gives in to her own urges... oh boy

-does Big B know that he can go caving with people? cause he seemed to be under the impression that he had to get geared out before he could make friends and it would suck if he ended up alone all the time because it hasn't occurred to him that he can go caving with people right at the start

-double life thought: i know most people count Pearl as the winner, but did Scott technically win as well? cause they were the last pair alive, and died in the same tick. it probably doesn't matter at all, but i wonder about it sometimes (especially in how it would affect Martyn's lore but that's not canon)

-i don't think Jimmy has broken the canary curse. i subscribe to the theory that cause Lizzie died in the End, the Watchers weren't able to perceive it and then he was the first to die in the Overworld (i'm not counting Real Life as canon; it happened and i enjoyed it but it wasn't a full series and they were deliberately playing it silly as an april fool's joke. very glad that Cleo won though. hope they get a full series win as well)

-i'm glad that Tango and Skizz (deliberately) didn't team together, but i kinda wish Tango had ended up in a different group. him, Etho and Bdubs are fun, don't get me wrong, but a whole lot of the fun of the series is seeing people interact and work with people they don't usually. Tango and Jimmy was a top tier pairing in Double Life, and Tango is hilarious. i would love to see him branch out more and work with some more people

-there is more than just the wild card. Grian said he wasn't going to explain it, and i didn't notice anything else happening (but i'm also not expecting it to be much until they get to the late game). i think that there will be a wild card that affects the players, and then also something that affects the world? we'll see, i guess

-now that everyone who has played is playing (i'm pretty sure? if i've forgotten someone i'm gonna be sad) who is gonna sub in if needed?

-i love Mumbo's "that was sub-one intelligence mate" when they all fell 🤣

-i'm not sure what the purpose of including the creakings or whatever they're called? nevermind i just looked it up and they're going to be in the game at some point. weird. i'm not sure how i feel about creakings coming to minecraft though

-very glad they've got six lives this time. it will both allow them to not worry so much about mistakes and accidents (as evidenced by Pearl) and encourage them to take risks, which will be fantastic

Obsessed with PICS (pearl/impulse/cleo/scott) and how absolutely dysfunctional they are. BEGGING to fall apart in the messiest breakup and make it everyone else’s problem.

Dissection on why:

Pearl is obviously suffering under scott/cleo’s usual pressure, especially their disregard for her side of the story. When she’s like “yeah double life was awful for me, it was a win at what cost” they just brush it off as character development. Impulse doesn’t back her up at all either. Soup Group for life, but not in Life Series. Logically, she knows she works well and lives long with these people, but it always costs her emotionally. She’s just not comfortable around any of them. In the breakup, Pearl would probably go to BigB, Gem, or Tango, as they’ve all treated her with constant kindness in the past. It’s only a matter of time before she leaves.

Impulse is in a weird place. Him and Scott were buds in Secret, but it was more of a coworker relationship held together by Gem. Impulse tried to cut him loose during tag, but Gem shot it down (“are you breaking up with me?!”) They were also spontaneously allied for a bit in Limited, and betrayed by Martyn together, but again that’s more coworkery than real bonded. Impulse has betrayed Cleo, who holds a grudge forever, and will have to spend the whole series trying to make up for that. He’s got a fondness for Pearl, but nothing concrete. He canonically doesn’t remember the other series while the other three (winners) do, so there’s that angle too. Impulse isn’t in danger, there’s just no real loyalty. If I had money on it: if he’s not taken in the divorce he ends up with Skizz again.

Cleo doesn’t want to be with Impulse and Pearl. Scott and Cleo are chosen soulmates and would probably stick together post divorce, but they are definitely beefing with the other two. Cleo has a clear and loud grudge against Impulse and wouldn’t mind cutting him off immediately. As for Pearl, Cleo is uncomfortable naming Pearl’s new wolf, as they understand just how much weight that carries. Cleo knows that PICS is almost certainly gonna fall apart, and is already dreading what they’ll have to do. They might even have to kill it themselves, as they’ve tried with many of Pearl’s other dogs. Others have pointed out and I repeat here: Pearl only kills Cleo when they’re not allied, Cleo kills Pearl when they are. If and when the breakup happens, Cleo will be the first to walk away, maybe dragging Scott with them.

Scott knows all of this. He’s perceptive and likes making power moves and will set up contingencies and alliances in preparation for the breakup, which will only speed up the process. More unconsciously, he hasn’t forgiven Pearl for double life either (ex: powdered snow comment). As I’ve mentioned, he and Impulse have some unresolved distrust from their professional coworker relationship in secret. Scott’s mostly chill with Cleo, but if they don’t officially stick together then all bets are off (ex: limited, secret). I expect him to struggle a bit post breakup, as he usually leans on strong day one alliances he can put his back to.

This is the interpretation from lore!! The actual creators are clearly having a blast with things. And honestly, that just makes it better. They are storytellers and I have faith they’ll pick the best one. Personally, I’m rooting for the breakup.

Do you think Gortash would still love Durge even after their bad ending (you know when they betray Bhaal and choose to surrender themselves to prison at the end) and they’ve gone mad?

For example, let’s say in an alternate scenario where Gortash survives at the end of the game. All the other companions have abandoned Durge, do you think Gortash would step in and try to help them? Do anything?

I've wracked my brain at night thinking about it.

On the one hand, the part of me that looks exclusively at in game Gortash says that Gortash wouldn't love them without power and without reason.

Because the more canon aligned Gortash is more pragmatic than emotional and although I do think his feelings verged into the impractical, he still fundamentally needs balance.

He's a domineering kind of guy, he gets along with Durge because they refused to be cowed in any way by him, and he dared not pity them or treat them with anything less than the utmost respect.

He can't sweep them under his tidal wave of personality, he crashes upon their shore, and they chip away at each other, grain by grain, in a tumultuous but steady balance.

they had a tango, you know. two partners working together. sex and love stemmed from something other than practicality, but it was practicality that brought them together initially.

He loves the Dark Urge for their power and reason, and without those two things... maybe he wouldn't seek them out.

especially not after they betrayed him.

and I don't know. the more assholish Gortash would see their alliance as having reached its inevitable conclusion. the more... emotional but distant Gortash would say, goodbye, old friend.

I wish you could've escaped your master, as I escaped mine.

and he wouldn't see them again.

but canon aligned Gortash is underwritten anyway.

so I'll do Larian's job for them and say...

I can see Gortash abandoning them because he is literally unable to look upon his former love, completely without freewill, and not feel soul crushing, life ending despair.

I could see it being too painful to see them when he knows he can't help them and they can't be helped by anyone, and they're gone, and he has to accept that.

a determined Gortash.

who has nothing now, except perhaps a desire for revenge against Durge. but as they are, mad and alone and insatiable, why even bother, right?

Bhaal has tortured them more than Gortash ever could.

maybe he keeps them locked in a basement somewhere, and at first it's just to lord it over them. mock their failure, their inability to prevent themselves from becoming like this.

in the beginning, he's still bitter about his plan failing and he blames them. to him, maybe it's a cosmic justice...

he says you could've ruled the world with me at your side and Bhaal and Bane at our backs.

but you chose this instead.

but as time goes on, his heart softens and he starts wondering if they're in there somewhere.

the only person who could understand him.

whom he could understand truly.

and maybe they're down there somewhere, trying to be understood again.

so he shows them things he hopes they remember about the life they shared together for a brief but important time. maybe books they talked about. blueprints he showed them of his future inventions. their notebooks, left behind. their old clothing, left over after long nights spend fucking and arguing.

maybe he tries to find a cure. he has some medical expertise, right? from dissecting people. maybe he tries to find a solution, some way to bring them back. maybe he pours himself into studies of bhaalspawn and deeper magic, trying to find some way to bring back a person whose mind has been ravaged into nothing.

but worst case scenario ...

he has to give up on all that... and give them the death he knows they would've asked for, had they been conscious.

The little Things headcanon (Zosan X reader)

Just some cute little things the three of you do togeather and how you interact with each other. Also threw in how the crew see's you three.

Zoro X sanji X reader, Poly relationship, established relationship. Reader is GN

Warnings: Fluff, lots of Fluff.

^ During the day you'll sit in Zoro's lap while he naps outside either reading a book or drawing. His head on your shoulder and arm around you snoring away. Some times you fall asleep with him but not very often. He likes waking up to you and will most of the time protend to sleep in order for you to stay longer. You know he's doing it but are quite happy to just sit there

^ You and Sanji dance in the kitchen when no one is around. It can either be a slow dance, a tango or salsa while music plays in the background. Both of you are really good dancers togeather but Sanji will teach you if you don't know some moves letting his hands guide you.

^ You or Zoro will hug Sanji from behind while he cooks, some times getting spoon fed by the chef. It doesn't happen all the time only when you or Zoro want attention. Sanji loves these times and wishes they would happen more often but wont say anything

^ You and Zoro are Sanji's teats testers for any new dishes. He trusts you two to give your honest opinion and you both do although you say a lot more than Zoro does. He'll sometimes talk to you two about dish's he's thinking about and what to add to it.

^ You train with Zoro and when you manage to lift heavier weights will lift you up and hug you, your legs around his torso. he's so proud of you and loves helping you out when you need it. He'll pepper your face in kisses and tell you how strong you are, it motivates you to get better each time.

^ Sanji likes watching you two work out when he gets the chance, sitting to the side and praising the two of you form time to time. Such a supportive boyfriend.

^ You'll seek each other out if your in need of comfort. weather its a bad day or just feeling low you'll be there for each other, dropping what ever your doing to comfort each other with a hug and a kiss.

^ Once a week you and Sanji will were a face mask before bed, Zoro doesn't get it but doesn't complain since it makes the two of you happy. You'll try different ones form different places but your's favorite is Coffee.

^ If you have long hair Zoro will braid it or style it for you. he's surprisingly good at it too. He also will help sanji with his hair if needed and even bought him some nice hair clips. Sanji now uses them while he's cooking to hold his fringe out of his eye.

^ Zoro will carry Sanji to bed bridal style when he's tired form a day in the kitchen. The Cook some days don't get a sit down especially when Luffy wants to hold a feast. If Sanji is scheduled to wash the dishes after, then you and Zoro will help him.

^ All of you play fighting in bed, Zoro letting you and Sanji win most of the time, it's either pillow fights, tickle fights or Wrestling. Of cause you and Sanji team up to take him down, form time time you'll betray Sanji and pin him down too. The look on his face never gets old.

^ If theres a beach you three will spend some time on it togeather mainly at night, watching the waves, stars and moon. Sanji loves Romantic walks on the beach but gets scared to ask, You or Zoro have to be the one to offer it instead. You both know what he wants he's just embarrassed to say it.

^ Zoro holding Sanji's and your's pinkie when off the ship. He's not one for showing affection when away form the crew and even though he wants to be with you two he doesn't want people looking at you three. your bounties bring enough attention to you all already.

^ Sanji massaging Zoro's back and in turn Zoro massaging Sanji's legs. If your sore form a work out they will offer to help of cause. You want to help them too much aren't too good at it, Sanji ends up showing you how to do it, Zoro enjoyed that a lot.

^ If you all get separated in a fight there isn't too much worry, of cause you guys think about each other but your more focused on the battle and know your all strong enough to win.

^ Reuniting after a battle always ends up with Sanji crushing the two of you in his hug. you don't mind though but it tends to start a row between Sanji and Zoro. They make up after though.

-------What the crew thinks of your relationship

^ Luffy loves you three, your part of his crew and seeing his crew get along makes him very happy. You three never bother him with the displays of affection you show each other no matter how intense it gets. He honestly tends not notice, he knows you three are togeather and love each other very much and its normal for couples or throuples to kiss and such

^ Usopp is glad his friends are togeather and happy but gets very embarrassed when ever he see's any kind of affection going on, even hand holding. He always feels like he's intruding or seeing something he should be. He's getting better over time but still has his moments.

^ Nami secretly ships it, she's done so for a very long time but wont admit it to anyone. She was so glad when you three got togeather but she didn't realize how much you guys love each other. At first she was embarrassed when you guys made out but now she doesn't care. She is also your hype woman threw and threw.

^ Robin loves your relationship, she doesn't mind seeing you three togeather in any way (Well, almost anyway ;) ), she's there to talk if any of you three need advice on something even if its very personal. She will compliment you three on your relationship often making all of you blush.

^ Chopper didn't understand at first, he thought only two people could be in a relationship not three but after talking to you three about it he understood and was happy for you three. He gets sky when seeing you all togeather hugging or kissing but doesn't say anything.

^ Franky hypes you guys up no end. if he finds you making out he will cheer you guys on. You all just ignore him now but that doesn't stop him form cheering. He'll ask a lot of questions about your relationship pretending he wants to know for educational purposes but in fact he just wants as many juicy details as you three will give him

Life series alliances and enemies I want to see!

(BIG DISCLAIMER: All of the people in the life series are friends and will choose what happens in an improvised series, me wanting two people to be rivals like Renchanting vs The sand hippies doesn’t mean I want them to hate each other in real life, this is a for fun post as season 6 is coming very soon)

Alliances:

Grian and BigB: They have gotten close a few times but never a long series alliance. I really love their friendship and I want to see them team together more than one episode.

Mumbo and Scar: I loved how they were in early episodes of secret life, a long series alliance would be so cool, especially if Mumbo last longer.

Scott and Tango: We’ve only seen bits and pieces of these two but I think it would be interesting. Some people have been rude about these two teaming so there’s a bit of spite in there too. I just think it would be cool to see.

Cleo and Jimmy: Even less interactions. Why these two? I don’t know, I think they would make a great alliance. Probably best work with a third person so I shall suggest Pearl or Bdubs here.

Ren and Scott: I am not over third and last life with these two. I don’t want them as enemies or fighting to the death, I want to see Ren and Scott be allies. Be bros. I want to see theatre kid Ren with Scott okay?

Lizzie and Etho: Sorry Joel, your wife is teaming with your ex-soulmate.

Joel and Pearl: Please please please please please- I just think they would be neat :3

Scott and Joel: While I really want Joel to take Scott’s final life, I would 100% down with these two teaming. What a great alliance it would be to be with the guy you tried to kill multiple times! In other words, I think it would be funny for me. That’s the most important thing.

Any combination of Skizz, Mumbo and Lizzie: Our guys that weren’t in double life, I need these three to interact more okay?

Martyn and Grian: I know someone asked Martyn to make a one side homoerotic relationship with Grian next season but I would be so down for a team up. Yeah yeah they were in Southlands together but I want just them as a duo.

Ren and Martyn: “hey didn’t they already team?” Yes and? I have been waiting for so long for these two to talk again and Ren might not be in this season again. I don’t have any evidence to say he won’t but I’m not getting my hopes up again.

Lizzie and Pearl: We got a taste of these two in secret life and I think they would have a solid alliance. Plus red life with these two? Two wet cats with a taste for blood? Sign me the fuck up.

Enemies:

Pearl and Gem: “uwu wouldn’t it be so cool if they were together and pearl helped gem win?” Fuck no. I want blood. I want them at each other’s throat. I want Pearl to actively take Gem’s final life. You had murder camel, let me see these two fight to the death okay? Fuck an alliance I want murder and death.

Martyn and Tango: Watchful eyes would see that over the seasons Martyn and Tango have a sort of rivalry or at the very least Tango is bullied/teased by Martyn. Rarely have they been on the same page. Therefore, I want them to be official enemies.

Tango and Skizz: I don’t want them to be actual rivals, it just would be nice for Skizz and Tango to branch out from each other as they have teamed in every season besides third and double life. Being rivals is a treat.

Impulse and Skizz: Same as above but more because they are best friends, I would love to see them tease each other lol.

Pearl and BigB: I don’t think this would happen but it would be something new. Especially how Pearl wanted BigB to win limited life when they were the nosey neighbours.

Scott and Joel: Pretty please take Scott’s final life I love the guy but I need Joel to do it please please please-

Ren and Martyn: Yes I want them to be alliances again but enemies? Oh? Oh ho? We had a taste of this with last life’s final four battle royal and Martyn confirming that he was always going to betray Ren. I need to see that.

Bdubs and Etho: Purely for the angst <3

Mumbo and Grian: I love these two so much but proper rivals would go so hard. Bonus if Scar is teamed with one of them lmao.

Impulse and Bdubs: It won’t be brought up but I think the clock grudge lasting all the way to season 6 would be funny as hell.

Bdubs and Joel: Short.

Cleo and literally anyone: She is very scary as an enemy not in a “Cleo would beat your ass” she couldn’t, but in a “they will hurt you with words”

I think more people need to read Medea because it’s a comedy for like 90% of the text. Half the time when she speaks it’s to roast Jason in ways he totally deserves. She spends a whole paragraph brainstorming murder methods like “poison?? no, he’d never drink a cup from me. could I stab him? who am I kidding, he’s three times my size.” Even better is that said murder brainstorming scene comes in a smash cut immediately after Medea’s nanny monologues and says “she’s such a good, innocent girl.”

The original text has basically this interaction verbatim:

Jason: did you not go around telling literally anyone who would listen that “Jason is the worst of men”?

Medea: yes, but did I say anything that wasn’t true?

And the thing is that the humor and comedy of it doesn’t take away from the tragedy. If anything it enhances it. Half the text is Medea plotting murder in a borderline comedic, Cell Block Tango-esque manner — he had it coming! Another almost half once she has her big idea is her trying to talk herself out of it, trying to find a solution not even necessarily where she gets revenge, but just where she and her kids are safe and happy.

But the thing is — and this is made very clear immediately before the eventual filicide — she has no other options. Medea has no support network, no other providers she can turn to now that Jason has decided she’s not useful and wants to discard her. She betrayed and slaughtered her father and brother to get him where he is, she has no male relatives whose goodwill she could depend on, and Ancient Greece had no way for an unmarried woman with children to support them, especially not one of nobility like Medea. She’s very aware of the practical constraints she’s under — it’s why she doesn’t just kill Jason himself, she simply cannot do so! And she cannot force him to do the right thing, either.

The whole play increasingly clearly becomes an explanation of the total lack of good options, the impossibility of a truly happy resolution. In some ways it’s comedic, because of Medea’s wit, but that fades when it all becomes real. When, driven to the brink and with no good options or future regardless of her choice, she does something horribly wrong. And she immediately regrets it. But there’s nothing left to be done.

That’s what makes Medea such a perfect tragedy.

Universe.... This team. This fucking team of Etho, Tango and Bdubs. The BET. They really are living up to this abbreviation. Like this team IS a bet on the server where chance is the play. Have you noticed how literally all of the teams are ticking time bombs. But BET, ohhhhh BET take it to another level.

They flat out do not trust each other. Specifically. Etho and Tango do not trust Bdubs. They do not trust him with anything. Especially since he did his whole "we're all going to betray each other in the end, everyone is on their own" spiel. Despite agreeing with him, Tango and Etho are close, but they BOTH know where Bdub's loyalty lies. And lies it do, me friends. They are RIGHT in distrusting him, he went to Scar and told the BAM team that he was sent there for "Tuff guys business".

When Bdubs went and APOLOGISED BEFORE TANGO ABOUT LAST LIFE (which is WILD to me, as tangtho noticed a couple years too late here buddy) and said that "he've done a lot of self reflection" and "hates himself now" they immediately clocked that emotional manipulation and a lie.

Like this team is a disaster waiting to happen.

Meanwhile, when Tango was blown up by a creeper Etho came for him.

Gem’s pov is so good holy. She hunted down etho and with her girly voice cheerfully proclaiming murder its fantastic!!! Grian really did a lot of damage to them holy shit. Scott’s sacrifice… at the secret keeper too 😭😭😭🫡🫡🫡 Pearl teaming up with scar was NOT what I expected.

Joel really killing himself with all the traps LOL. HE HIT ETHO OFF THATS SO COOL.

Pearl is so used to decked out that she laughs at the wardens and snacks on berries. Rip murder camel. The camel is dead, long live the camel! THE FINAL TWO!!!! Scar might actually win this with a punch II bow and thorns. SHE DIED TO FALL DAMAGE!!! well played. The camel lives!!!!

He got betrayed by tango and then he just spleefed tango like that. He was such a good hunter of Skizz; especially that underwater bow shot. Giving skizz worse than death. Trader Scar’s one last trade. Ugly stepson LOL. Bigb’s back rooms really creeping people out as intended. That pearl and kill on etho was beautiful. HE KILLED ETHO YET AGAIN LOL. IS THAT ALL 3 TIMES??? INCREDIBLE. I can’t believe scar is still able to talk his way into alliances and boding over common enemies. How does he always do this. WHAT A SAVAGE ONE LINER ON CLEO. HE HAS OVER 40 HEARTS!! Him getting impulse was CLEVER!!! Scar is so on fire this series and this episode. That pvp with gem was pretty good! They traded roughly equally but he has better hearts and armor and Pearl lol. HE DIDNT KNOW HE WON BECAUSE HE DIDNT GET THE HEARTS OR THE KILL MESSAGE AGAHAHA. CLASSIC. and he hit the succeed button!! What an ending.

Rewatching and I realized that as opposed to grian winning 3rd life on a cliff during the day, Scar won in a ravine at night.

Right, walk with me as I dive into Canary Curse/SecretLife Martyn lore.

The current working theories are:

A: Jimmy is a sign of doom to his allies. Most of his allies have done poorly when partnered with him (Scott, Mumbo, Tango, Joel, and now Martyn), at least in reference to their usual abilities.

B: Watchers dislike Martyn. (And Jimmy)

These are valid in my mind and pair well with the phenomenon. However, I don't think it's exactly what is happening.

Which leads me to a mildly popular theory I'm still debating about (which will be my main point of this post):

Martyn is actively sacrificing himself for Jimmy.

It's not a poor theory, but I don't think it's accurate. For one, it doesn't fit wonderfully with Martyn's character (in game), which is untrustworthy, turncoat, and survivalist among other things.

But lets talk about why I DO like it first.

So this theory is similar to a different situation that happened in limited life. When Joel famously said after Jimmy died 'I was going to sacrifice myself for him, so he wouldn't go out first.' Most people have taken that to mean 'I was going to give him my time/let him perma-kill me.'

What's interesting about this is Joel is going about it in a very productive way. He is gathering time from other players, which he will then give to Jimmy to further Jimmy's odds. It could technically also imply that Joel doesn't plan to die instantly. If he has enough time he can share with Jimmy without full sacrifice.

Joel never got a chance to do this. Making the words tragic and full of broken hope, especially considering how he was then hunted by the majority of the server. Soon dying near where Jimmy fell.

Martyn's actions would be tragic in a very very different way.

This isn't a man being productive. this is a man actively self destroying. looking the universe in the face as he chooses to beat it just seconds before it can kill it's favorite punching bag.

I can not begin to describe how much this feels like a man clawing victory out of a race only he knows he's participating in. (Only he knows hes Winning)

Martyn is not Helping Jimmy's case. He isn't somehow giving him more time on earth or showering him in diamond armor until he's safe. This is not a story where the victory will come sweet, this is one where the victory is death. Not more time with friends and family. Death.

I genuinely love imagining that. Full stop.

However, I don't think it's the Reasoning behind Martyn's actions. (at least partly)

Martyn is known partly for Rebellion. Or at least, THINKING about rebellion. (see, that's an important detail)

Character Martyn always planned on betraying Ren. Always. He was going to mutiny, coup, whatever you want to call it, from day one.

In Double life he doesn't live with his soulmate. Actively, killing them at one point. In Last life he begins talking to Them, beginning his journey into becoming a Listener agent.

In Limited life he actively disobeys the unspoken rules of conduct. (Which, to be clear, I do not think actually EXIST). He steals peoples kills, he acts amicable only to knife people in the back seconds later, he killed people that are supposed to be his allies. In a game where everyone was loyal he he betrayed his closest ally to win the game.

Now. Here's where the Thinking comes into play.

Martyn is never actually rebelling.

Not in any meaningful way at least. It's like the crab in the bucket example, he's pulling other crabs down to get to the mouth of the bucket (winning) and in doing so he Thinks he's rebelling. But he's actually just playing into the Death Game.

throughout this whole thing the ONLY thing he can do to rebel would have been to simply not play the game.

(Which is technically true from a Meta stand point as well)

Martyn could have let himself die. Could have refused to kill. In doing so he is causing the most active form of rebellion against the people Watching, in that he is giving them nothing to watch. He is refusing to PLAY the Death Game.

Now. He didn't chose to do that...

But what if he did THIS time?

Martyn has succeeded his goal, he's won. He is the fourth winner of the life series. And guess what?

It got him SHIT.

An hour and a half of abject loneliness in an abandoned war torn server, all while he slowly waited to die. And after? No escape. No nothing, just right back into the Game.

It's a little like the universe is laughing at him.

"Oh, you thought this would make you Special? You thought this would beet us? This is exactly what we always wanted"

So that one goal Martyn's had since the beginning? Gone. Out the window. And if THAT option is gone, there's really only one left:

I don't think Martyn is trying to die first to save Jimmy. I think Martyn is trying to die first to beet the Watchers/Universe.

(After all. What's a bigger fuck you than breaking the most solid curse in the game?)

So many thoughts of the after effects of zam and mapic having their s4 dynamic in s6 cause it’s gonna mess with the new members so badly if they get in between

Literally the members who keep saying zams scared of mapic rn and have chosen to help zam out when he gets hurt, don’t understand how messed up they both are and how not one sided it is

Mapes acknowledged how easy it is to be the villain for everyone cause he’s done it before but no one ever listened to him about how zam is worse than him

castle arc started cause nobody was willing to help zam, he betrayed his team and almost everyone at the time said zam deserved what came to him from how angry mapic was and to this day it is proven how loyalty matters to mapic

Zam was full of paranoia but than again he stayed at that castle fully knowing what was to come and continuously fought himself cause no matter how much he hated mapic, he never truly hated him, he hated himself instead cause he was fully aware of his own actions

Just like s3, zams messed up, sure castle arc he was afraid but at the end of s3 he smiled as he asked Spoke to kill him even blinding himself to trust spoke knowing it resulted in him repeatedly dying to clown in every base he made for a whole week prior

Zam let s4 castle arc happen, just like the end of s3 and he knows it, zam doesn’t really hate Spoke or Mapic, he was and is afraid of them yet he’s insanely enough devoted to them

He knows what they’re capable of at their lowest and highest and at the end he always feels sorry for them, like when zam told clown that mapic killed him for spoke despite spoke dying to wemmbu, both zam and clown immediately was focused on how unlike spoke that was rather than the deaths itself

It’s bittersweet

The second zam found out about the exploits in s4 he flipped and did everything to divert Mapics attention while simultaneously trying to stop any exploit harm coming to him (unless it was Spoke)

He did that after castle arc and the only exception between the both of them was and has always been Spoke, it’s so eerie knowing that Spoke knew zam would be fine during castle arc cause mapic wasn’t there for what he did to him in s3

Their history goes even further for when zam was banned off and mapic still carried out his demands he left behind beyond death

There’s a reason why mapic goes back to zam and a reason why zam lets mapic, both of them have a LONG history and the ones who know about it won’t intervene (aka mainly spoke)

Zams BEEN messed up and anyone s5 onwards hasn’t seen it, being swept up in his pacifism to see that anyone’s anger towards him has never been caused by killing but his actions driven from what morals he’s on

It’s so much worse especially with mapic suggesting zam to have a full defence kit, if mapic kills zam he gets a target on his back but he can’t just not crit the guy whenever he’s near him for a little bit longer than a greeting

Mapic feared zam leaving forever, almost like zam taking actual precautions to disappear which he is completely capable of, zam can leave but stays in places knowing mapic would find him and it’s an odd way zam has to reassure mapic

When zam completely covers his tracks and doesn’t involve himself at all somehow someway mapic shows up to involve him and when that happens zam lets it happen, completely entertaining the idea just cause

It takes two to tango and they are both trying so hard to not acknowledge any of it

ANYWAYS!!!! Anything these guys say, do, or bring up will mess the absolute hell up of any members that joined after s4

Like can you imagine going through absolute hell where both sides wanted nothing to do with each other after yet by the end they were standing on the same side against everyone

So really anything to happen in s6 and anything anyone says or drags zam to, it won’t stop him from somehow going near mapic and vice versa

And my second written essay of the day (randomized to be posted first): Tango and Skizz.

Out of Five full seasons, these two have been teamed together for 3 and a half of them. (the half is from 3rd Life.)

And I mean, to be fair, Once upon a time there was a “team ZITS” for a reason. Yes, I’m a Zedaph main, no I won't write an essay about him yet. Point is, these two have also known each other for a while, along with Impulse, but Impulse hasn’t been together nearly as much as these two. Impulse was on the same team as them one time and a half, (once again the half is from 3rd life, the Crastle-Renchanting alliance) so we won’t be talking about them just yet. 

That being said, Tango pointed it out in Secret Life episode two, where he mentioned that he and Skizz somehow always ended up together, and TIES, BEST, and now the heart foundation prove that. They always have something, and while Impulse told Skizz irl that he was going to betray him, because they knew each other too well, I don’t think this is the same. They just have fun with each other, mocking each other especially, and I think Tango finds it easy to work with him, in comparison to some of the others he plays the series with. He needs someone that he knows in order to feel like he can actually survive. Jimmy worked well with him, most definitely proved his worth with bringing those cows, but Tango has known Skizz for longer. If he can’t find someone new and comfortable to team with, then he’ll team with Skizz.

Now on Skizz’s half, it’s almost the same, Except he doesn’t mind working with someone new. The only difference is trust. Trusting someone new is something that Skizz can do, but isn’t something he might want to do. Especially after the start of last season, blind trust isn’t something he can start with. So he started on his own, probably thinking of asking for a teammate, but Tango got there first. 

And then there's Cleo this season, but as Tango and Skizz put it, She’s a “traitor” or “heartbreaker.” Which reminds me, these two also probably get together for the drama- 

They sip the tea together, that’s a fact.
