One thing that has made me a much more well-adjusted person is a clip I once saw of Hank Green saying that anyone can be in amazing shape as long as being in amazing shape is one of their top three priorities.

(This is obviously a generalization that isn't true for everyone. But it is true for most people and I'm proceeding from there.)

This "top three priorities" framing has genuinely reduced my tendency toward jealousy and self-comparison a lot. Now when I feel envious of someone’s spotless, aesthetic home, I think to myself, “Having a spotless, aesthetic home is probably one of their top three priorities. It’s definitely not one of mine, so I shouldn’t expect my home to look like that.”

Or when I see an influencer with a body that takes a ton of work to maintain: “Maintaining that body is obviously one of her top three priorities, because it’s her livelihood. My livelihood is my brain, so I’m never going to prioritize my body like that.”

It also helps me to identify areas that I actually DO want to prioritize more. I realized in recent years that my envy for my friends who prioritized writing more than I did was NOT going away, so I started to prioritize writing more. (Not top three, but higher priority than it has been in the past.)

I cannot emphasize enough how none shit I give about MCU or comics, but when I say Marvel Rivals cooked, I mean that they COOKED. I'm like furthest thing from Marvel Fan or a hater can get and this game really looks good. Like look at goddamn Human Torch. I didn't know fantastic four existed.

Sometimes I think about how and why some people had such a *bad* reaction to the end of Steven Universe, specifically in regards to the Diamonds living.

Even though they no longer are causing harm to others and are able to actually undo some of their previous harm by living, some folks reacted as though this ending was somehow morally suspect. Morally bankrupt, even.

And I think it might be because so many of us were raised on a very specific kind of kids media trope:

They all fall to their deaths.

Disney loves chucking their bad guys off cliffs. And it makes sense- in a moral framework where villains *must* be punished (regardless of whether their death will actually prevent further harm or not), but killing of any kind is morally bad for the hero, the narrative must find a way to kill the villain without the protagonists doing a murder.

It's a moral assumption that a person can *deserve* to die, that it is cosmically just for them to die, that them dying is evidence that the story itself is morally good and correct. Scar *deserves* to die, but it would be bad for Simba to kill him. So....cliff.

Steven Universe, whatever else it's faults, took at step back and said "but if killing people is bad, then people dying is bad", and instead of dropping White Diamond off a cliff, asked "what would actual *restorative*, not punitive, justice look like? What would actual reparations mean here? If the goal is to heal, not just to punish, how do we handle those who have done harm?" And then did that.

Which I think is interesting, and that there was pushback against it is interesting.

It also reminds me of the folks who get very weird about Aang not killing Ozai at the end of Avatar. And like, Ozai still gets chucked in prison, so it doesn't even push back on our cultural ideas of punitive justice *that much.* and still, I've seen people get real mad that the child monk who is the last survivor of a genocide that wiped out his entire pacifist culture didn't do a murder.

okay yeah, I can definitely see some of those lyrics fitting really well with the series/characters. I'm missing a lot of context of course (so I dont want to guess on who/what the song is applying to), but I kinda get the vibe. music is one of those really subjective things, I think. Like, people can stretch it to fit anything they want if they try hard enough, which is probably where the "secretly evil" part comes in. that's how fandom be sometimes unfortunately </3 personally, I just need my music to be loud enough to drown out my brain-noise, haha.

Hello!!!

NEW anon here, i've been following the development of the android!Joel au diligently. i love it soooo much

I'm a sucker for a happy ending so Grian being part of some kind of resistance scratched my brain in a new kind of way, I'm thinking about how Etho and Tango can see how much Pain joel is in at the company and how badly he is treated but not being able to do anything about it, they are just two people after all.

But then them encountering the resistance, Grian talking to them about how awful it is the way androids are dehumanised, and Etho and Tango realising that there are other people out there who think the same as them, who would see Joel as Real.

Going to underground meetings, speaking to other members of the resistance and other androids, bringing Joel along when they can sneak him there. Joel seeing other androids who have been through the same agony as him and seeing just how /human/ they seem from the outside. Meeting other humans and feeling struck by the fact they are treating him like a person, that they are interested in what he has to say. He thought that it would always be like this, that he would always be treated like a doll, that he would never get to live his own life. He thought that Tango and Etho were the exception, but maybe they're more than that.

Joel being more confused than ever. He was coming to terms with his life. Tango and Etho treating him like a person was a welcome change, yes, but he was finally accepting that they were just two people and that being seen as less than human would be his life forever. That maybe he really /was/ less than human. But now? Maybe it could change. Maybe if other people saw him as human, then there really was more to him than copper wires and plates.

Insane. I do love me a happy ending so I am looking very respectfully. No notes, this goes in the pot of collaborative creative writing.

I haven't seen double life POVs, I haven't seen limited life at ALL yet just animatics and things, on my knees in tears (/lh) honestly because I'm WORKING on it but there's just so many videos! asdfds it's soooo much to catch up with on top of the current content too, it's like overwhelming a little. I am having fun here though. nobody has really intimidated me personally, but I have (until now) just been keeping to myself and shaking with paranoia and not really interacting lmao. past poor experiences with fandom, yknow.

is hc7 why Grian's a parrot? I didn't know that, that's cool (haven't got to it yet). when I tried to figure out why people were drawing him with wings all the time I just saw a bunch of the watcher lore and some things about him really liking elytra. I did see some of his early hc6 and it was kind of adorable watching him learn how to use one.

parkour games are so fun. I am really bad at them though, so I didn't get very far in mirror's edge, but I remember the intro being really amazing. something about the music hitting perfectly

speaking of music, can I ask a question? what is up with the traffic fandom's obsession with the crane wives?? (<-guy who doesn't really like folk music but understands its importance in the fandom playlist ecology. but like. why this band specifically)

Don't even worry about catching up with everything, just do it at your own pace and watch what you like. I religiously refuse to watch 3rd Life (besides Tango's episodes), Limited Life I've seen mostly in clips and only proper videos are Tango's POV, because I needed that mental damage.

Yeah past fandom experiences are... something. I somehow got lucky and was never bullied in fandom spaces despite sharing more unpopular opinions and actively seeing some of my mutuals receive anon hate. I'm built different, I guess. Hhghjh Regardless, I am glad you are having fun, that's what fandom is for! :D

Well, season 7 started him birb propaganda with him saying "pesky biiiird" and because he's good with his elytra. Since then the bird narrative didn't die. And I think the watcher lore narrative pushed it in more eldrich direction. Watchers are fandom's favourite topic to be conflicted on. My stance on it is — it's fanon built on fanon so let people have fun.

I played original Mirror's Edge until I literally memorized the routes you need to take. And I replayed Catalyst like 4 times, but Catalyst was harder for me because I played it on my aunt's husband's PS4 and controllers are weird and uncomfortable. Gfhjgd It's pretty casual in my opinion, especially compared with Ghostrunner, which I am still yet to finish. 💀

Ooh boy, I believe it all started with Last Life animation named Curses which had the song by the Crane Wives under this name. And it basically opened the flood gates, because for some undeniable reason their songs' lyrics are perfectly fit lifers. I am a big fan of folk and folk rock, so I am incredibly enthusiastic about their songs being popular in this fandom. Unfortunately people use them to mischaracterize characters, so it's actually secretly evil. Gugjgjv

Guilty as charged for writing so many implications, can't help myself. Feeling so evil for giving questions without an answer. Worldbuilding is me passion. Literally, most of my aus are just worldbuilding with none plot. It used to be this way at least, doing my best to make stuff happen.

I am so glad you liked my gribeans interactions and smalletho in bg, because I love them. They ruined my brain chemistry forever.

Anyway, thank you for reading the fic, I am glad that someone who is not me liked it. :D
