Do you ever think about Tango being involved with every single game of chance in Life Series. His Dare To Flare, it was his idea of You Bet Your Life, he stuck with Heart Fondation's donations? Do you ever think about how utterly bad his luck is, how meaningless his deaths are? That no matter what he bets on, he always loses? He tried playing everyone's friend, he paid for it with his life. He tried sticking to the team, he became the charity, the unwilling sacrifice. He played the hero, he played the villain, it never got him anywhere. Do you ever think about how everything he builds always gets burned, somehow always by Scar no less. Do you ever think how life blows up in his face. The firing squad, the Bdubs betrayal, the death by stupidity, the creeper in Double Life, the sudden death apart from Jimmy in Double Life, many deaths in Limited Life, specifically the final one where he chases Scar and falls to his death. The way his kills always look like an accident. Do you ever think about Tango in life series, always left behind, never winning.

I can't stop thinking about Joel’s beginnings in Third Life. The way he just had a random conversation with Etho in boats for the first time about lilly pad monopoly. Him burning for the first time. First in Tango's Dare To Flare game, then trying to put out a fire on his roof. The way he becomes isolated, scared and angry for the first time. Then Last Life was his most lonely and isolated season, full of madness and blood thirst. Then in Double Life he found a soulmate and he built Relation Ship. And then the ship burned, everything burned, including himself.
Do you ever just think about this stuff.

"I will give my life for you. It's your turn"
Something I want people to understand about this phrase is, it's not an offer of sacrifice.
When Grian said it, he meant every word, when Grian said it, it was them against the world, when Grian said it, he remembered the Last Life, how in the end they tried to protect each other. When Grian said it, he meant that if it comes to tough battle, Joel should leave him for dead, he meant that he would take an axe to the neck and a sword to the chest and an arrow in the spine, as long as it's necessary, until either he's alive or until it's just them. It's not an offer of sacrifice, it's an oath to fight the world.
It's not an offer of sacrifice, because Grian knows Joel, he knows that Joel hates sacrifice. Offering a sacrifice is insult to Joel, promise of an easy win, taking his agency away, it's saying "you aren't good enough to win on your own", it's saying "I'm making you a favour". And Grian knows that Joel hates being in favour, being less than, being weak. So he shoots him, Grian shoots him when it's just them and it's saying "fight for it", it's saying "make it yours", it's saying "make it wild", it's saying "it's your turn, The Wild".

I love how both Tango and Joel are characterized by their anger, but in their own way.
Tango's anger is explosive it's starts with a push and a shove, it starts with someone shaking him hard, it's destructive like a forest fire, it engulfs him, everything around him, blinding him with smoke. And then it's quiet, like hot burning coal, a grudge full of bitter ashes of the trees that burned. His rage makes him lose his composure, it makes him seek revenge immediately and it doesn't matter in the moment who or what will be the collateral damage. And it burns him inside down, his carefully crafted patience. And then he's quiet, when it all burns, there's nothing left inside, only a new burn on his soul, he's tired, he feels helpless, he feels empty. After anger goes away, there's nothing left of him, he needs to build himself up again from total of nothing but ashes and coal. Coal that is still hot and burns at his heart.
Joel's anger is always there, it what drives him forward, if he's angry then he has a goal, if he's angry he has a purpose, when he's angry he will get up, when he's angry he will keep fighting. He will get his no matter what when it's anger that is inside of him, he will get that revenge he's looking for. Like that unwanted and hurt by a human animal, he will bite, he will claw at any hand that extended to him, because he's angry, because this anger that was building in him all this time, it's all he knows, it's all he breathes, it's his nature to be angry and Wild. It his structure, the crutch he uses whenever he sees no other reason to keep going. Even when anger calms down, it just turns into spite. When anger and spite go away, when there's nothing and no one to be angry at but himself, it makes him howl, it makes him ache, tear his spiteful soul and useless body apart, he shouts and screams and he is left empty, nothing but a scarred unloved dog, not a proud lone wolf and he can't get up, because there's nothing left for him anymore.

I want to say that I am really liking this newfound rivalry that Tango and Joel got going on.
Because a) I love them a lot and b) they are more similar than most people realise.
They were ultimately alone back in Third Life. Tango got betrayed which isolated him, Joel went red first, which isolated him. They actually found their soulmates in the Double Life and were happy. Then their homes burned and it caused them great pain and agony. On Limited Life they had rivalry with their soulmates, which felt like it was so over. And Secret Life reignited the hope and also took something away from them. And in Wild Life Tango was mirroring Joel's Last Life arc. And they are both losers in this stupid game. They still choose to keep people close, even if they caused anguish before. They are both so deeply intertwined with their anger that it's impossible to imagine themselves without it. And they hold grudges for a long time and always want revenge by any means possible. But also they are oh so gentle and caring people behind all of the anger and pain.

Joel: People keep burning our stuff down! Pearl: Have you not accepted it in this series that nothing stays alive? Like it's gonna be broken, it's gonna be burned, stop fixing it, 'cause it's gonna break again.
Now this. This is one of the insane quotes ever. This is such an insight into Pearl's character in the series. "If it broke - don't fix it, it's pointless". Like isn't it the consequences of Double Life. Isn't this mindset came STRAIGHT from Scott's rejection. AND NOW THE SAME IS WITH GEM TOO. And it's INSANE because Gem admitted to not having a real reason to be mad at her. And, just like with Scott, she doesn't want to mend it, because it's POINTLESS. She wants to make Gem suffer, she wants to kill her. And she hopes it HURTS like it did for HER.

People write a lot about forced human experimentation. But like. Think of the potential of trauma when it's consensual. When instead of cold, sadistic outright hostile doctors it's cold friendly doctors. When they inform you about everything that is going to happen with you and you have to write a consent form.
Think about the guilt and self-blame. "I let it happen", "It was my fault after all", "Well, I just agreed to it".
And the reason why you could agree to this. Maybe it's some illness that will get you killed, maybe you wanted to be something great, maybe you wanted to reach your potential, maybe you wanted to serve a greater good. Or maybe you were convinced that you need some sort of cure to your condition. Maybe you were conditioned to believe that you are a monster and supposed to be treated like one.
But in the end of the day you agreed to this yourself, you have no one to blame but yourself really.
