What I don't get is why news outlets and Netflix are trying to convince us that arcane was expensive to make. 250 million usd for both seasons they said, and obviously that's a lot of money, but they make the mistake of comparing it to big budget movies like Tangled. So you're telling me that I got an animated masterpiece that combines multiple different art styles fantastic voice acting and creative and passionate writing, that's 6-7 hours LONGER than major animated movies, and its the same fucking price?? And you're expecting me to agree with the corporations outlook, that it's too expensive? Yes, tangled is considered one of the most expensive animated movies, but arcane is like FOUR Tangleds. Many other 3D animated movies fall within the 160 million mark, but again, they're hours shorter than arcane was. I think the prices are comparable. I believe in saw someone (on reddit maybe?) divide the cost down to minutes of screen time for each show or movie and it becomes really obvious. I'm also pretty sure that many of these movie budgets do not include marketing in their overall expenses; arcane does.

This isnt even bringing live action tv shows into the equation; i dont think arcane even touches like the top thirty of those. And yet it's framed as such an expense!! Bitch its an incredibly successful tv show!! Ik Netflix is cheap as shit and has its own reputation to grapple with, but is the disdain for animation so much? Is it disdain for female lead action, for poc representation, for LGBT rep on screen? For the animation medium as a whole? I know the answer of course. But it's still very upsetting to acknowledge and think about.

Separately, arcane is absolutely crushing it. Ik act three is going to knock it out of the ballpark. Keep crushing corporate execs expectations please.

I watched The Wild Robot in cinema and clearly it's a gem <3 The animation was stunning, some scenes were just so beautiful and colorful, I was in awe (*0*). The story was so sweet and even if the end is a bit conventional (bcs it's still for kids after all), the entire movie delivers its message with a touching simplicity, it just makes you feel so good at the end seriously ;v; but it was also SO FUNNY, and some jokes were clearly for adults, I didn't expect to laugh that much!

Dreamworks keeps surprising me lately, first with Puss in Boots 2 and now this one, I really hope they continue on this path because it's good to see a little more ambition coming from big animation studios.

“nothing, will you just go back to sleep?” you don’t look at him when you speak, but instead you focus all of your attention onto your current task

“well i can’t when you’re just making random metal clashing noises next to me, just get back onto the bed and leave it for later when we wake up again, it’s not that fucking urgent”

you take a deep breath, but with the way you roughly slam the spoons into the box that houses the forks, it sends a grimace onto his face. in turn, he rolls over from facing you and now the wall

“if you did this when i asked you to yesterday maybe i wouldn’t have to do it right now but you didn’t, so just wait two more god damn minutes and then you can sleep again okay?”

he sighs, and for a moment you think that he’ll keep his mouth shut and keep quiet for once, suddenly the utensils you’re organising feel cold and biting against your skin, they feel like they’re drooping and melting into putty right in between your grasp, and you can’t catch it

“can you just give it a rest?” he goes from facing the wall to sitting up, the curtains flutter slightly in the wind and it tussles his hair in a way that makes you want to cry

“no i can’t fucking do that! i’ve laid out my life right in front of you and i’ve given you myself yet it’s still not enough! you’re a hero who doesn’t get to sleep at night fine i get it! but i’m not any less important so don’t you ever go around and speak to me like that ever again! you promised me all those eight years ago in that basketball court the day we graduated, and you remember what i said yeah? if you did i’d fucking leave!”

all the work you’ve been doing the past ten minutes is rinsed down the drain, useless and helpless to end, the flailing of your arms has caused the box that stored all the metal utensils to fall onto the floor. chopsticks, spoons, forks and knives poke at the hardwood floor and at the edges of furniture, it doesn’t chip the wall, it chips your heart instead.

you’re tired, and even when you’re not dressed for the outside, in mere pyjama pants and a random shirt that you go to sleep in, you walk towards the door and leave the mess behind you

What's it like being a mechanitor?

Being a mechanitor is awesome!! It takes a bit of getting used to at first, having all those ultrafine wires settling into their places around your skull, but after that, you have so much power!! You can get mechanoids to do everything you want with little more than a thought! It's perfect for anybody who wishes to transcend their weak, useless bodies! The first step toward a perfected humanity!

... Of course, there are drawbacks. If you happen to be suddenly spawned into existence with every memory of being a mechanitor but none of the actual abilities, it will leave you feeling hollow and more useless than you ever felt before. Now you know what you could be, you feel the loss that much more sharply.

That would never happen, though, so we probably don't need to consider such a ridiculous, outlandish scenario.

Cause on one hand, they’re part of the show, They get the ‘honor’ of being a part of it! Okay hear me out on this one, Saiki kusou having a mental breakdown and age regressing

I mean shape shifting into a kid and mentally age regressing, using his old diy robot toy as a comfort object

I imagine this break down being Post Meteor but it could really be after any traumatic event

And the breakdown is sorta from a realization that of he doesn't have his powers he can't stop crisis from happening (volcano, nendo time loop, meteor, ANY of the things he has to stop when he has those dreams followed by headaches, ect) but having his powers also gives him a very hard time (guilt of the valcano time loop, Akechi incident, and just the general struggles he shows that having his powers come with).

so he sorta breaks down really bad, and his resort? Age regression. Not necessarily healthy age regression at first but I feel like if this were to be something he uses more often then he would learn how to use this as a healthy way to cope. But let me explain why age regression (should add that I am not very educated on age regression, so please feel free to correct me on literally ANYTHING I say)

It's pretty clear saiki was happier as a kid, I mean not entirely but theres DEFINITELY a difference there. In my opinion he seemed a bit more carefree? That may not be the right way to explain it but I think you can get the picture. I think he would find comfort in how his mindset was during that time. I just feel this cope would work pretty well for him (although it's pretty ooc I think) but I think he wouldnt use it in a healthy way at first, I'm not sure how to explain it.

Anyways this is just an angst headcanon idea, age regression saiki gng
