What I don't get is why news outlets and Netflix are trying to convince us that arcane was expensive to make. 250 million usd for both seasons they said, and obviously that's a lot of money, but they make the mistake of comparing it to big budget movies like Tangled. So you're telling me that I got an animated masterpiece that combines multiple different art styles fantastic voice acting and creative and passionate writing, that's 6-7 hours LONGER than major animated movies, and its the same fucking price?? And you're expecting me to agree with the corporations outlook, that it's too expensive? Yes, tangled is considered one of the most expensive animated movies, but arcane is like FOUR Tangleds. Many other 3D animated movies fall within the 160 million mark, but again, they're hours shorter than arcane was. I think the prices are comparable. I believe in saw someone (on reddit maybe?) divide the cost down to minutes of screen time for each show or movie and it becomes really obvious. I'm also pretty sure that many of these movie budgets do not include marketing in their overall expenses; arcane does.
This isnt even bringing live action tv shows into the equation; i dont think arcane even touches like the top thirty of those. And yet it's framed as such an expense!! Bitch its an incredibly successful tv show!! Ik Netflix is cheap as shit and has its own reputation to grapple with, but is the disdain for animation so much? Is it disdain for female lead action, for poc representation, for LGBT rep on screen? For the animation medium as a whole? I know the answer of course. But it's still very upsetting to acknowledge and think about.
Separately, arcane is absolutely crushing it. Ik act three is going to knock it out of the ballpark. Keep crushing corporate execs expectations please.
#if anyone knows a better reason i would like to hear it!#i like to believe the best about things#it lowkey might just be netflixes shitty taste in releasing tv shows and movies#but this one feels personal with beloved ans successful arcane is#arcane is just not an expensive tv show all things considered but thats the problem isnt it?? theyre only comparing it to animated costs#because they dont see animated as a real genre they can use for success#although COUNTLESS shows have proven otherwise. i dont get it#im glad arcane (and on the same note spiderverse) are paving the way for adult animated media thats not like fucking family guy#that has a beautiful plot and meaningful characters#obv theres anime but im talking about in the western sphere of things#love death and robots is also a very good example#arcane#budget#movies#caitvi#jayvik#arcane s2#my posts#text post

Okay, I know this may come off weird. I do not play DnD or anything like it, but I saw some of your characters and I fell in love with them. If you do not mind answering me, I enjoy writing, and I am curious as to how you design your characters.
Not at all, besides D&D I also write in my spare time as well and make comics. I find they all have slightly different processes at least for me.
Since digital art is my main medium of expression, I tend to first draw characters before anything. Characters like Mikeitaa my druid tiefling I went into a blank page and just drew out and pieced it together along the way.
Others are inspired by things that make me excited; the most blatant is my aasimar barbarian, Ashar, who I drew after the KDA music video was dropped.
Its usually less blatant than that though, such as a general aesthetic, a colour palette, a design concept, sometimes its as little as a line I drew that just catches my attention. The important part is that inspiration.
I find this process is quite successful for me when creating PCs that I like enough to play. I usually develope their personality and character along the way while drawing, filling in the blanks here and there once I'm done to flesh them out. A good example of this I think is Reqei
His inspiration was his style of horns, specifically the thought of "what if their "eyebrows" were just hair tufts sticking out from the bottom of their horns?" I ended up drawing a tilted and kind of sad face and as the rest came out I developed the idea of this emotionally numb slave soldier. Talking to my DM about his setting placed him as a slave of the dwarves, his nicer attire and weapon due to being sold as a personal guard after not dying, and informed many other aspects of his psychology and personality. I filled in smaller things with the details that caught my attention and some creative thinking: he wouldn't use a gun and the starting gear doesn't allow for it but his master would certainly have his life threatened with one, so its a broken gun that serves as a memory. His claws don't quite match his colour palette though it compliments his gear's metal buttons and halberd.
Reqei is already someone who goes into instinctual survival mode and would use anything as a weapon, what if he saved his master clawing someone's face off with a cheap metal prosthetic claw and he had all of them replaced for his sake so Reqei had more weapons? Of course dueing this all the characters related to Reqei are also being fleshed out, such as his master and his master's wife.
I think the most important thing is that these things are not irrelevant. They inform/shape not only his character but the characters involved with him. I always ask "what does this tell me about the character?" Especially durring this process of fleshing out the little things. With this even simple characters become interesting and without it big characters might wring hollow, I've had both happen to me.
Its important that you are personaly interested in the character regardless of the medium, even if its just and npc or side character, something like "I would really like to see more of that character and see their story unfold." Thats how I usually make NPCs for my players, and its easy to control if you know what appeals to certain people and you can make it obvious that certain characters clearly have more going on to draw the eye even while making everyone interesting looking.
Some of that can translate to written and other mediums but I think for more structured storytelling like comics and especially writing you have to take a different approach. I find for comics its important for me to draw characters first still because the characters i come up with in my head I might not be able to draw to my satisfaction, but for writing you can go hogwild with your imagination as long as you can describe it, the character isn't as limited by your personal skill as in visual mediums.
The most important difference between them and D&D though is that you already know the story you're putting them in, they're often developed alongside the story as a part of it, not inserted into it. Because of that you have to think a little more utilitarian. "Does this serve a purpose to the narrative/themes/aesop?" In D&D its part of the DM's job to build a narritive AROUND the PCs and its developing live. In a written story this is usually a bad idea because it ends up with plot holes and such so its important characters be fitted into the story and not just created separately and inserted.
For zombiegirl we wanted to make a gag 4koma so we created characters that could clash and create comedic moments, made their personalities a little ridiculous and over the top, and most importantly created characters who while quirky in their own right, could play straightmen to the comedy. The genre really shaped the characters we made and many of the side characters were made to fill comedic niches that fit the aesthetic and themes.
They're also all visually distinct, with visual media people usually go by the rule of "every character has an identifiable sillouette". In writing I find a decent equivelant to be speech patterns and unique identifiable features that can be refered to quickly. This character has red hair, this character is the shortest, this one has no eyebrows; Something that could easily be used as an identifying nickname in a situation where their name isn't known.
In general I tend to write very eccentric and somewhat extreme characters. The most important thing to me is their point of interest. Something makes me want to play/draw/write more about them, something to explore. I tend to end up with "main character NPCs" because of this, where they're too interesting for their role in the story and never get explored to a satisfactory extent. In D&D thats okay because you never really know who your players will want to talk to and have a story with, but in structured writing it can just leave you unsatisfied if their interestingness isnt properly scaled.
I guess the most important thing is it feels natural. While people say "don't judge a book by its cover" people do express themselves consciously or not. Their appearance should serve a purpose. Whether you should create the appearance first or the personality first depends on what they're being made for. I always remind myself that in the end, characters are tools of their story and vice versa and to varying amounts create them with that in mind.
My last note is that I draw from things that interest me. I like plants and flower language and bugs and animals, nature in general. Sometimes I make characters with similar interests but more often I use that knowledge to create characters; characters themed after animals, motifs, drawing from animal behaviours and exploring them in a more self aware humanoid. I end up with a lot of wild child types and alien psychology because of this.
My most recent example of this is the harvester god who holds fatherhood as the most important relationship and opposes the eat or be eaten matriarchal drow spider goddess, inspired by how male harvestmen protect their eggs from egg eating females. I have to remind myself sometimes that when it comes to inspiration its more important that you like the resulting concept than accuracy to the inspiration unless accuracy is the point.
Some people get caught up trying to make one to one allegories but if you're writing fantasy then I think those are pointless. I like fantasy's ability to explore situations and characters that can't exist in real life, beyond just magical abilities and such. I end up creating very alien characters because of that. I tend to frame characters more biologically than philosophically which informs how they themselves think, which is often very animalistic.
I dont know if any of that satisfies your curiosity I think I got off track a lot, sorry. I hope I answered your question somewhere in there.

thoughts during Yuri on Ice ep9
4:22 PM 2/3/2017 "If you're in trouble, just hug him"???? Yakov?????!!!??? I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Victor really doesn't think. From the very beginning, he was already proving that he doesn't really have a grasp of what a "coach" really is or supposed to do. Even as recently as ep7, Yuri still needed to explain---yell at Victor, what he should be doing as a coach. *sigh* If Victor's flighty brain didn't also make him so free-spirited and lovable, I'd hit him over the head with that Makkachin tissue box. I'm beginning to think Victor honestly believes that ice skating only functions with the ingredients of a skater on the ice and a coach on the side of the rink. He really thinks that Yuri just needs someone labelled a "coach" just standing at the sidelines while Yuri skates? Oh. My. Gawd. Yuri was just yelling at you an episode ago, that your job is to have faith in him and bolster his confidence. You can do that even while you're away from the actual stadium. Yuri even told you to go to Japan while he stays in Russia to continue performing. He can perform without you there physically! As long as Victor is there emotionally/spiritually for Yuri, he's fine. And yet, Victor hands off Yuri to Yakov, thus, severing Victor's emotional presence from Yuri. *sigh* Victor really doesn't think, does he? This lovable, idiotic fool...
Oh, wait. Victor does go on to say, "Even if I'm not here, I'll always be with you in spirit." But does Victor really understand that? Really? While he's handing Yuri's delicate heart off to Yakov's harsh demeanor...as "support"?? ~_~;
At least Yakov agreeing to take on Yuri, quells any suspicions that he might sabotage Yuri, to help advance Yurio. Not that the show has proven he's that dastardly, but without many gaps in his characterization filled in, the brain does tend to assume the worst. I like the idea of Yakov wanting Yuri to fulfill his potential just as much as Yurio, so that they can have a proper showdown without any interference tainting the expressions of their true skills. Like a martial arts anime or a sports genre manga.
It's strange for Emil to skate to the theme "Cyberpunk: I've ceased to be human". He's so cheerful and human-feeling. Does this mean he's going to super-focus on technical skating? It's strange that he'd throw away his emotions, when the series' themes thus far, have been advocating emotions as a strength, in skating. (I expect Seung-gil Lee to come up short, despite his technical skill, because he lacks emotion. He seems to serve as a contrast to the series themes.)
And now Sala is severing her emotional ties with Mickey. Everyone's getting separated from their emotional anchors in this episode. Victor and Yuri separated geographically and as skater-coach pair. Emil separated from his emotional strengths. and Mickey separated from his deluded purpose to protect Sala. Well, he's actually just attached to this image in his head he has of Sala, more than looking at the actual Sala, anyway. I've seen it all before in Revolutionary Girl Utena, where Kaoru Miki---"Miki". Coincidence? Anyway, in Utena, Kaoru Miki was trapped in his own "princely savior" complex (the entire Student Council all were, in that series), where he specifically only knew his own identity in relation to protecting his sister Kozue. So he subconsciously built her up as this perfect and pure treasure to be protected, always in danger of being the victim, so that his psyche could secure himself in the identity of the "rescuing prince". But in reality, his sister didn't need saving and wasn't pure, and was actually sometimes the victimizer, not the victim. But Miki couldn't see that, otherwise, he wouldn't know who he was. He wouldn't be able to maintain the Stronger identity and position of the rescuer. Maybe then he'd have to confront the fact that he was actually the rescuee, in need of saving. Maybe Sala's brother Mickey also can't deal with his Weakness.
"I was able to focus on skating and come this far because you were with me. Dont' leave me alone, please!" It's strange that Mickey's words to Sala sound more appropriate to the blubbering and weak-willed bouts we've seen more often from Yuri, at this point. Mickey's Weaknesses here seem most obviously intended as a contrast to how far Yuri has progressed in emotional Strength. I hope the rest of Yuri's scenes in this episode show him Stronger than Mickey with Sala in this scene.
Even now, Mickey is thinking only in terms of obtaining Sala's full focus. He's thinking of other types of men she might like and implying that maybe if his personality were like theirs, he could have kept her. Even though her need to be independent and to see him become Stronger by finding his own independence has nothing to do with her "falling out of love with him". He really isn't looking at her at all.
Or maybe Emil's unemotional skating program's title is supposed to demonstrate his ability to separate himself from his emotions (his characteristic cheerfulness) and still be able to be himself. Though all those falls he was taking, while Mickey was watching him, thinking Emil might be an example of what a "successful" man is, enough to get Sala's attention, showed the delusion Mickey was having, in the idea of following Emil's example (of cheerfulness). So if Mickey can't imitate Emil or any other man in order to get Sala back, what can he do? He must be so lost right now. And right before he has to skate!
He's skating to "Serenade for Two". Ouch. She's not even at rink side.
"Sala, are you watching me somewhere out there?" I expect to see a contrast with Yuri later skating and not thinking such things. Yuri should skate with full confidence that Victor's presence is with him. Yuri shouldn't look out, wonder, or hope that Victor is watching. He should feel with bulletproof certainty that Victor's spirit is with him. Mickey's purple costume reminds me so much of Yuri's "Yuri on Ice" costume, that it seems more obvious that Mickey is going to serve as a parallel contrast to Yuri later. If they're going to be equated in costumes, then their differences in actions should really stand out.
"I can tell, even when we're apart." Really? You sure don't act like it. But I guess Mickey is only really seeing the "Sala" in his head, and not the real Sala standing in front of him, anyway.
The thing I like about this whole "incest" motif between Mickey and Sala is that she actually tells him to stop obsessing with her, get a life, and let her have her own. So many anime use incest for fanservice and never once have I seen the sister forcibly, physically, make the brother stop letting this continue. If she's a tsundere, she'll get mad, but just kind of stay sprawled and limp, wondering what the heck her brother is doing. Like Bakemonogatari. Or more often, the sister is waaaaaay too handsy and the herbivore brother doesn't have the guts to shove her off of him, even though it makes him visibly uncomfortable. Like Bungo Stray Dogs. Or even more often, the series treats the incest pair like the canon OTP or at least the background pair to root for. The Irregular at Magic High School, .Hack//Legend of the Twilight, Tenchi Muyo, Tenjyo Tenge, etc. I once went to a anime convention panel where a Japanese panelist explained Japanese cultural reflections in anime, and he explained the ubiquity of incest as the desperation of heterosexual males to be near females, in their society of such strictly separated genders. "So having a girl in your house, so close to you everyday, is an exciting thought." Ug. Stop it. Good on Sala for grabbing Mickey by the chin and telling him to get a life and that she had a life outside of him! Personally, I chalk it up to the writer and director of "Yuri on Ice" being female, females who are probably just as sick of the incest trope as the rest of us otaku.
On the other hand, if Mickey does well, even while his costume draws a parallel with Yuri, then maybe the contrast will be of Yuri doing badly, while separated from Victor. O~O! ;o;! Nooooooooo!
"What should I do with my feelings?" I think it's really important that Mickey phrased this in a way that implies that he does realize there are other things he can do with his feelings besides being obsessed with his sister.
"I can feel lost love in Michele's skating." Don't look so happy to have a comrade in misery, Georgi. Mickey is "mellow" and sad right now. Ah, well. Maybe a few drunken drinks together and messy crying about their ex'es will finally get both of them over it. We can only hope.
"Sala, this is the last time that I skate for you." Wow. Mickey is accepting this "break-up" pretty quickly. Good for him. ^-^
"This is my real love. Farewell, Sala." So are they saying Mickey took breaking up his obsession with Sala well, because he's considering honoring her wishes to have him stop obsessing over her, as another expression of his love?
Oh wow. Sala is really crying. I guess she was the one who was more attached. Or maybe just attached enough to let it last this long. It's pretty healthy for her to have recognized the stagnancy, broken it off, and is already into her grieving phase. Even if she didn't want to be the object of her brother's obsession, I'm sure their bond was still the most important to her.
"That was the coolest program I've seen from you so far. You thought of me when you were skating right?" "I'm sorry for saying such mean things earlier. But I'm glad I did! We're better apart, after all!" Thank you, Yuri on Ice!!!! If this was any other series, the sister would have gone back to the brother, as if they were reuniting lovers. Thank you for maintaining the growth of the characters and a demonstration of superior emotionally healthy relationships! ^O^ Just because Sala wants to see Mickey do well and can feel happy that he thinks of her and loves her, doesn't mean that she wants to go back to being his obsession. In fact, those are the same reasons she wants him to be independent of her. And he just proved that learning to become independent makes him Stronger. He had the best program performance ever! It's just healthier for a person to not have illusion-based obsessions, and to be an independent person in a relationship, vs co-dependent.
And I guess if Mickey/Sala was representative of anything in this series, it was the dangers of co-dependency. Now, let's see our series’ main protagonist couple avoid that obstacle, by contrast.
What's with Seung-gil? He seemed so freaked-out right before he stepped onto the ice, and now the camera's first glimpse of his performance is of him falling? Why is he so freaked-out? Was he intimidated by someone? Not by Mickey's awesome performance, was it? Was Seung-gil so nervous because Mickey's program was flawless? If so, then it just might prove my theory that Seung-gil is supposed to represent the importance of emotion (emotional expression) during skating, by being too unemotional and failing.
Yurio's statement is really surprising. He sees JJ and Yuri as his strongest competition. Almost takes the doubt out of Yuri's close-ups while he's nervous. But more like the audience knows he has earned more confidence, but Yuri himself doesn't know it.
Oh my gawd. Seung Gil is actually crying. I guess he's the type to stay stoic until the very last second.
Wasn't Victor supposed to choreograph Yurio's senior debut? I guess Yurio is ok with just the Agape program.
Are Yurio's jumps at the 2nd half of the program really low now?
Alright. that's better.
I want to say that Yurio gets really motivated when he's angry, but that didn't work out too well when he preformed Agape. But maybe it's only because Agape is the opposite of his nature. Maybe here, his anger will make the 2nd half of his program go even better.
I love seeing that focused expression on Yuri's face, like when he was preparing to skate against Minami. But during his stretches this time, he got distracted by Yurio superseding himself. I hope Yuri doesn't get mired in self-doubt in the middle of his Yuri on Ice program. Especially after all this inner monologue from Yurio, explaining that Yuri's program is already intimidating to Yurio's chances of getting into the Grand Prix.
I like how Yuri's lack of response to Yurio's brag about getting first place so far, made Yuri seem very focused and unfazed. But then the camera goes watery, like Yuri is going to cry and really is mired in self-doubt. I really expected some kind of inner monologue, where Yuri says he's either focused or crumbling. But there was nothing. I like that the direction is keeping us guessing. Now I really want to see how Yuri feels, through watching his performance.
I just realized that both Yuri and JJ are preforming to music composed just for them, to encapsulate themselves. But whereas "King JJ" makes JJ seem arrogant, "Yuri on Ice"'s somber, wavering, and frail, hopeful journey doesn't seem self-centered at all. It's just a story.
"I popped it." Is that bad or good? This is what I meant when I said before that this series doesn't do as well as other sports anime, when it comes to explaining the sport sufficiently, by the time of the performance, so we can understand the tension and stakes during the performance. Even with the reaction shots, it took the commentator explaining "His second jump turned into a single" for it to be clear that Yuri messed up.
"Until Victor came into my life, I could never openly say that I'd win gold, but I never skated with the thought in my mind that I'd lose anyway." There's something lost in the wording of Yuri's internal monologue. I guess I don't understand. Is he saying that Yuri's ambitions about skating were never strong enough to win gold nor to lose, as if he didn't have enough passion in his skating, before Victor appeared? Is he saying that Yuri always wanted to win, but never was ambitious enough for gold? Maybe never had the self-confidence to aim that high? Or that Victor made Yuri finally able to express aloud his pre-existing (maybe muffled) strong will to win? Then he says, "Truthfully, I wanted to win gold at last year's Grand Prix Final, too." So I guess...Yuri is saying that he always had a strong ambition to aim high, but it wasn't fully expressed until Victor boosted his self-confidence? Now we're getting all these flashbacks of Victor boosting Yuri's confidence, so that's a confirmation.
"I was able to come this far because Victor believed in me." And now we get an answer to Yuri's first line in his inner monologue: "I don't want them to think everything Victor's taught me has been a waste." So the thing Yuri feels that Victor taught him the most was belief in himself. Which is a nice call back to the opening theme's lyrics. ^-^
It's nice that Yurio is cheering for his rival to do well.
But I actually kind of like that Yuri messed up a little during the first half of his program. "Yuri on Ice" is supposed to represent his skating career, right? At the beginning, Yuri was making all these missteps because of his lack of self-confidence. So in the second half, which is supposed to express after Victor became his coach, it would be appropriate to show then, all the (bolstering) influences that Victor has had on Yuri.
It's funny. Yuri seems to preform better when he's huffy about something. Before, he was angry at Victor for not knowing that all he needed was for Victor to have more faith in him than Yuri had himself. Now he's huffy at the idea of Yurio demonstrating impressive stamina, when everyone keeps saying Yuri is supposed to be the one defined by stamina. "Idiot! I have more stamina than him!"
"Whether Victor were with me or not, it would still feel just as tough." "I'm the only one who can skate this program with this much appeal." I like when Yuri's inner monologe starts becoming more confident. ^_^ It's like when he first began to understand how to be in-character for his Eros program: His performance is going to suddenly become something amazing.
"I'm the one who loves this program victor and I made the most in the whole world!" There's a slight variation in the violins here that strikes well, while Yuri is thinking about his announced theme for the year: finding Strength through Love.
JJ is the only one not watching Yuri's performance. Even though everyone else is captivated by the 2nd half of his program. I wonder what that says about JJ and how it's going to be built upon later in the series. (Just saying he's self-centered is too easy. I mean, he is. But there can still be more than that.)
Aw, Yuri touched the ground. But the direction tried to deflate it with the side comments from Mila. "When you think of how it could've been with Victor here, you really want to see that, right?" This show keeps doing this thing every once in a while, where emotional response and anticipation from the audience are advocated as more important than technical performance. But it's hard for me to completely buy that, when so much more of the series (screentime) has been dedicated to showing them work out and practice so that they can nail the technical aspect. Only very rarely, like when Minami skated or Yuri skated during the all-Japan competition, did the series mention that enthralling the audience's emotions, as a performer, was more important than technical execution. Sure, they threw in Seung Gil to exemplify how technical merit without emotion can't win, but I don't think that theme was emphasized enough in relation to the whole sport or to contrast Yuri specifically. Yuri and Seung Gil only had 1 interaction so far: when Yuri was one of the few to see Seung Gil cry, while he passed by him. I don't know. As a sports anime, this show just isn't as effective for me. I still prefer to watch it as a character study. That, this series does well.
I wonder what Yakov would say if Yuri told him aloud that Victor's coaching style is just like Yakov's? LOL Maybe then Yakov might start to accept Victor as a coach instead of just "playing coach". At least Yakov knows Yuri never practiced for failed jumps because of Victor's old habit to do the same.
Aw! ^u^ Yuri is so huggy! ^.^!
"I'm no prince. I'm already a king!" Yeesh. Talk about a complete foil to Yuri's characteristic unconfidence!
And here we get that other layer besides the arrogance he's been superficially portrayed with so far. It's good to hear JJ thinking of his family, girlfriend, and country, while he skates.
"This isn't enough love!" So if JJ is Yuri's true foil in the series, and his definition of "love" is getting cheers from the audience...I guess that contrasts with Yuri expressing "love" as support from his closer circle of family and friends. Interesting. Let's see where this goes.
It's kind of weird how instantly enthusiastically Sala always jumps to any guy who isn't her brother. Says a lot about how much he smothered her. -.-;
"Is this a hugging competion?" Oh, Emil... ^_^ Poor Seung Gil and Yurio. LOL But I thought Yuri confirmed that he has progressed to the next stage, just barely above Mickey, because of he placed 2nd at the Cup of China. Why is he practically saying farewell to everyone, like he was the one leaving? ...Unless this shows his character growth, by Yuri saying "bye" to everyone else who isn't advancing, or rather, just everyone who shared this experience of the Rostelecom Cup with him. Saying bye more to the Rostelecom Cup, than to people? Maybe? Well, Victor did say to hug when he was stressed. ^o^ "I'm this close to the peak of my competitive figure skating career. I really want the gold now. The Grnad Prix Final will be my last chance." Yeesh. So final! So the hugging really was about Yuri thinking his career is near its end and he won't be able to be there again. o_o
End credits over the last scenes? A mid-season break for a short 12 episode series? o.o???
Aw, birthday pirozhki! ^.^ How does Yurio know Yuri's birthday? Is it on their official public stats? Wow, Yurio really is playing to the rival-friend motifs. Or maybe he just wants to see Yuri say that his grandfather's food is better than the Katsuki's? LOL Naw. It's even better. He just wanted to show off his grandfather's katsudon pirozhki to someone! Particularly to someone who knows a good katsudon. ^_^
Oh, good. The fluffy one survived.
There's the hug he really wanted.
Oh, don't say it's like a marriage proposal. In an airport? Do you know how cliche that is?! This is much better than that old cliche. ^-^ "I wish you'd never retire." Now that sounds more like a marriage proposal. ^_^
7:05 PM 3/7/2017 The problem I have with this show, is that I don't care about the characters---Well, until Yuri reappears on screen. I can't take my eyes off his performances. But the series takes so much screentime on other characters, that just haven't had the time for me to build any significant attachment to. So I find myself not caring.
The whole reason I've been postponing finishing this series, is because it takes so much time for me to write reactions and watch at the same time. But because I don't care enough for all these side characters (and caring about characters is *really* important to me, even more than plots), I didn't want to just zip through watching YOI without remembering my emotional reactions. If I didn't jot them down as they happened, then I know I'd look back on this series and not really care overall, because my horrible memory wouldn't remember being effected by this series. But I know I care about Yuri, and Victor is a lot of fun, so I don't want to finish this series, thinking that it was the same as if I didn't watch anything.

A Year in Review: Telugu Movies!
You can’t pay me to watch these (aka watch me roast them in 10 words or less)
Dictator - a Bala Krishna movie without animals in the title!
Krishnashtami - wyd Sunil.
Terror - the title aptly describes my feelings about this movie.
Guntur Talkies - lets just not. more like gun-to-ur head after watching this.
Attack - this wins for having a director and actor that Idc about!
Edo Raakam Ado Raakam - edho raakamaina torture.
Thikka - ee cinema choosaka vacchedi adhe
Jaguar - just when you’ve thought twood’s exhausted the possible feline comparisions
I really really dont care: Savitri, Raja Cheyyi Vesthe, Abbayitho Ammayi, Killing Veerappan, Express Raja, Naruda Donoruda, Hyper, Speedunodu, Garam, Nayaki
Nenu Sailaja -I had a lot of expectations for this movie because it was said to be “fresh” but there was really nothing new here. I loved Ram’s look, some of the comedy and most of the songs. Worth a watch but nothing ground-breaking.
Nannaku Prematho - A for effort? I just couldn’t connect to the film because I felt like the emotion was kind of artificial and didn’t really pull me in. I couldn’t get behind a lot of the “logic” in this film. Also there disruptive bgm in every scene which made it really hard to focus on the film.
Soggade Chinni Nayana - I feel like this movie was targeted towards middle aged aunties lol. I love Nagarjuna and Ramya Krishna but there were one too many scenes where I was hiding my face from embarrassment. On the plus side, all the sarees in the movie were gorgeous !
Lacchimdeviki O Lekkundi - messy because of all the back and forth plot twists. Horror comedy is literally my least favorite genre so I didn’t like this.
Seethamma Andalu Ramaya Sutralu - below average; I don’t have much to say about this. If I hadn’t watched it, this would belong in the ‘I really don’t care’ list.
Krishnagadi Veera Prema Gaadha - I think I was drowsy when watching this (not because of the movie) so I honestly don’t remember anything but the beginning portion which was really funny. I need to rewatch this.
Malupu - I always love a good thriller but it could’ve been better. Aadhi Pinnisetty’s voice tho !!
Kshanam - FAVE !!! This was so good! again always down for a good thriller. Super gripping and just the right pace. I loved how in this the love story was relevant to the script. It was very well written, acted, and taken as well in terms of technicalities. I can definitely see it getting awards next year.
Kalyana Vaibhogame - The first half was loud and messy which made me almost stop watching it. With a premise like this, the story is extremely predictable, as in you knew the lead pair would fall in love eventually, it was just a matter of when. I thought the second half was pretty cute though.
Shourya – I know this is biased of me but I can’t remember the last movie of the Manchu brothers that I’ve seen because the kind of movies they make are just so not my type. However, when this movie came out I did hear some positive talk for it on twitter. But then it wasn’t talked about at all after like a week? So I’m not exactly sure how successful it was. I may watch it eventually but I’m not dying to see it lol
Run- This was the remake of Neram by Sundeep Kishan (side note: I really like Sundeep, so I was annoyed that he was doing a remake). I didn’t hear much about this either after the first week so I don’t think it did that well. However, I do want to watch it because I’ve been trying to watch Neram since forever but I could never find it with subtitles so I guess this is my chance to watch it, but a lesser version ofc. Although one of the main reasons I wanted to watch was for Nivin and Nazriya so this doesn’t really do much more me lmao
Oopiri – I haven’t seen the original so I really liked this! S/o to Nagarjuna for realizing fairly quickly that its time for him to more age appropriate roles (take notes @ chiranjeevi). This is why the Akkineni’s are my fave! (my bias is showing so much in this post but do I really care). anyways, I loved the chemistry between Karthi and Nagarjuna cause lbr their bromance was the real love story in this. Shriya’s appearance made the childhood shipper in me super happy. Overall, an enjoyable film with some great performances.
Sardaar Gabbar Singh – The amount of hype this movie had, jfc. Tbh I don’t have anything major against Pawan Kalyan. He’s just not one of my favorites, and ngl I liked him in the early 2000s phase (i.e. before Gabbar Singh which is when his fans went to piccha peaks). His fan base is literally one of the worst. I just think they’re super extra and very disrespectful, esp at audio launches. So yes, I was happy that it flopped because one it put the pk fans in their place who were hyping this to no end. Also he wrote the story and screenplay for this and reading some reviews about that gave me life lmao. If you want to hear something good about this movie, Kajal looks stunning in all her princess-y clothes and a few of the songs are pretty good.
Sarrainodu – I actually haven’t seen this yet but I do want to. Here I go being biased again lol. If this starred anyone I didn’t care for, I would have no interest in this movie but because it’s the fave, Allu Arjun, I have to watch it. I like a lot of the video songs and the music actually grew on me when I was forced to listen to it A LOT in India over the summer. Also he looks hella good, I’m sold, bye.
Supreme – Ok this movie was huge in India over the summer. Everyone loved it and ngl I used the phrase “its amazing zing zing” about a thousand times among my cousins without even having seen it. I tried watching it once I got back and it was just too much loud comedy for me to handle and I never finished it.
Brahmotsavam – oh lord. TOO SOON. Jk, I’m over it. Easily the biggest disappointment of 2016 in terms of what was promised and what was delivered. I literally followed this movie since it was even rumored to be happening because Mahesh and Sreekanth Addala. Then Mickey J Meyer was brought on and then Samantha and I was just so hyped. I think the fact that I was dying to watch this in theaters and then I didn’t even want to watch it once it was online, says a lot. I was just really shocked that everyone, fans and non-fans alike panned it especially when it involved sooo many people. The second hand embarrassment is too real. But I did eventually watch it and what the actual hell. There was literally no story, no coherence, and way too many irrelevant characters. Mahesh has a pattern of delivering blockbusters after massive flops so here’s hoping the best for his next!
A…Aa: I have so many feelings about this movie. Trivikram is one of my most favorite directors/writers and has been for a long time. With Attarintiki Daredi, I was pretty disappointed that he went full on commercial and I thought he lost some of his touch. That changed a bit with Son of Satyamurthy (but I feel like a majority of the reason that I liked that movie is bc of Allu Arjun lol). But yeah anyway, A…Aa is still a very commercial movie, its not in any way niche. However, I think Trivikram finally struck the balance of substance and commerciality which made it an entertaining movie while also leaving you with something to think about. The story was actually very simple and something that’s definitely been done before, but the screenplay had Trivikram’s name all over it. It was apparent in every single dialogue. He also pulled out some spectacular performances that were subdued but well done. I remember Samantha saying in an interview that because this is Trivikram’s third movie with her, he knows when she’s reusing an expression which forced her to improve her performance. When the movie was announced, I was kind of disappointed that Nithiin was in it because he’s never been a favorite of mine but I fell in love with him after this. I think in a lot of his movies he tries to do the typical commercial hero act and its obvious that he borrows heavily from Pawan Kalyan’s style. But in this his characterization was very subdued and painted him as a common guy which made him a lot more likable. It was also easier to ship the lead pair because the star aura tends to overshadow the chemistry but here I was really able to see the characters instead of the actors behind them. I just wished the story was more unique but otherwise a really good movie!
Okka Ammayi Thappa - Sundeep really needs to promote his movies more because they always seem to go under the radar. I was actually really excited for this because Sundeep & Nithya as the lead pair. I’m pretty sure its one of those movies that takes place in the span of a single day which I love bc if you can stretch a day into a full film, its gotta be one hell of a day. Not sure if this was a hit or not but I definitely want to check it out once its online.
Gentleman – (Spoiler Free). This was pretty good! A nice balance of romance and suspense. The story was intriguing and the performances were well done. I didn’t like the comedy though. The situational humor was fine but I hated the comedy track and I felt like it made the movie so much slower than it needed to be.
Oka Manasu - I was so hyped for this cause I love Naga Shourya and Niharika but apparently this was very slow and boring. I hope this doesn’t discourage Niharika from doing more movies because tollywood really needs some actual telugu actresses. (Side Note: Allu Arjun’s speech at this movie’s audio launch !! He basically called out the PK fans in a long 10 mins lecture and it gave me lifeee)
Pelli Choopulu - FAVE!!! Truly a new age rom com. I watched this in a theater in India and I loved it! The story was fresh, engaging, and hilarious. I loved how the characters were very realistic and reflective of actual youth and not hero-like at all. Also s/o for the strong female characterization !! You go Chitra! I think it did an amazing job of combining comedy, romance, social issues, and emotion into a very believable and enjoyable film. And not to forget the music which is so so good. Also, I’m gonna quote this movie in my grave.
Manamantha - I looove movies that have multiple inter-related stories. The four characters and their respective stories were written well with each character tackling a unique situation. Overall, I liked it, but it definitely could have been better.
Srirasthu Subhamastu - I watched this in India and it was nice to see it on the big screen because the best part of this movie was the grandeur of production. Starring in a movie produced by your father clearly has its perks. I don’t really care about Allu Sirish but he’s still pretty new so to be fair he was pretty good in this. The story is very very routine and predictable but I remember liking the dialogues
Babu Bangaram - I don’t think this was a hit? But fiiinally, Venky in a movie that’s not a remake, which ofc didn’t last long cause his next is a remake smh.
Janatha Garage - This movie was apparently the biggest hit of 2016 in terms of box office and imo its not deserving. The trailer for this movie made it seem really good but it was a disappointment in the end. The thing with Koratala Siva’s movies is that he always has a good social message but then commercializes it way too much. I understand what he’s trying to do but I wish he’d cut down on the violence and focus on the actual issue. This couldve been a really amazing movie about environmentalism but it turned into something really routine. Im also annoyed that a stellar cast of NTR, Mohanlal, Samantha, and Nithya was wasted on such a mediocre movie.
Jo Achyutananda - This was pretty good. As per the director’s style, it was very simple with life-like characters. The story was very interesting but I thought it was pretty anti-climactic and definitely could have been taken to another level. S/o for Nani’s cameo towards the end which sadly was the only male eye candy (sorrynotsorry).
Majnu - Even though this is Nani’s movie and I usually have high expectations for his movies, I didn’t expect much from this. The movie didn’t offer anything spectacular. The plot started off pretty interesting but then went the routine rom- com path. It gets a fair share of laughs and the music is fabulous but otherwise underwhelming.
Abhinetri - I haven’t seen this yet and I don’t really care tbh but I’ll probably watch it eventually.
Mana Oori Ramayanam - This seems really interesting from the trailer. Definitely a niche film and I don’t think it did well commercially but I want to see it.
Premam - What do I say about this that won’t get me hate lmao. I haven’t seen this yet but it received pretty good reviews as well as commercial success. I don’t support remakes ofc but I know I’ll end up watching this eventually. I’m glad that Naga Chaitanya is back on track again ?
Saahasam Swasaga Saagipo - I really want to watch this because romance + thriller is my faaave. I don’t think this was that big of a hit but Im still excited to see it. The album is amazing and I assume the bgm will be as well. Also s/o for Naga Chaitanya’s look in this movie which is his best yet imo. Is it just me or has he become so much more attractive now that he’s unavaible lol.
Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada - I haven’t seen this yet, but heard that it was really good! Seems like another Karthikeya-type movie? Who would’ve guessed that Nikhil would be most successful actor from the Happy Days gang (besides tamanna ofc).
Jayammbu Nishchayambu Raa - same as above ^, haven’t seen, heard it was good.Other than that, I’m glad a small film got acclaim.
Dhruva - How much credit can you give to a remake ? I haven’t seen this or the original but I know I’ll probably like it.
Overall I think 2016 was a pretty good year for movies with many of the successes coming from small budget films which seems to be an increasing trend in Tollywood. The fact that Sardaar Gabbar Singh and Brahmotsavam were total box office disasters even though they starred arguably the two biggest stars in TFI shows that the majority of audiences crave content over star power which I’m all here for!

all super detailed questions about Sally ✿♥‿♥✿
( @requicms , @sammrps --- koda, may and brandon are mentioned in this and you dont have to read because its HELLA LONG, but yeah. )
1. What’s their full name? Why was that chosen? Does it mean anything?
Every once and a while I’ll stumble across a name and be like “WOW why don’t people use this name more??? i love it??” and at the time, Sally was one of them. I knew most people always associated it with Nightmare Before Christmas/Blink 182 and I wanted to defy that with a character. I chose Redmayne because I’m a piece of shit and she’s got red hair so sue me hahahahaha. I wish I’d chosen something else now tbh.
But Sally does mean “a sudden charge out of a besieged place against the enemy; a sortie.” which I think is unexpectedly more than accurate.
2. Do they have any titles? How did they get them?
Weak But Skilled, City Mouse, Control Freak, Daddy’s Girl, The Fashionista, The Fighting Narcissist, Ice Queen, Idle Rich, Insufferable Genius, Iron Lady,Lonely Rich Kid, The Prima Donna, Rich Bitch, Schemer, Socialite, Spoiled Brat.
3. Did they have a good childhood? What are fond memories they have of it? What’s a bad memory?
In the grand scheme of things, Sally’s childhood was perfect. She grew up getting whatever it is she wanted, especially out of fear that since she’s adopted, if she didn’t, she would use her power to resent them for not being her biological parents. If there is anything that runs in their family, it is shallowness and insecurity. Good memories involve visiting holiday homes, travelling, going to broadway and fashion shows. Bad memories involve the first time she learned she was allergic to cats, swelling up to the size of twenty balloons and being hospitalized for a week, and her dad’s having to take time off.
4. What is their relationship with their parents? What’s a good and bad memory with them? Did they know both parents?
On the over all, Sally has good relationships with both her adoptive parents. Jacob is a primadonna, a total diva, a socielite and a fashionista. She’s learned all of her high class, spoiled brat, fashion queen, superior antics from him. He likes to think he’s taught her everything there is to know about being a powerful woman among stupid men. She idolizes him
Peter, on the other hand, is far more reclusive and down to earth. He’s taught her the improtance of fairness, honesty and goodness. He was the one who always comforted her about her lonliness, the one who encouraged her to let herself be open to the idea of friendship with Kitty, he’s the one who’s always been there for a real piece of sound advice from the heart, rather than the head.
As for her birth parents, she’s met her mother, and they are nothing alike. She hasn’t yet gone to look for her father, but I hope to explore that soon.
5. Do they have any siblings? What’s their names? What is their relationship with them? Has their relationship changed since they were kids to adults?
I think that she does and she doesn’t know it yet. I have in mind a half brother, from her father’s side. A Dane Dehaan, a real Jerk With A Heart Of Gold type character. Someone who is comfortably wealthy but doesn’t see eye-to-eye with his father’s success. And I think that they would connect on a level of being kept out in the cold. I’d love to explore the idea more, but for now, it’s just that.
6. What were they like at school? Did they enjoy it? Did they finish? What level of higher education did they reach? What subjects did they enjoy? Which did they hate?
She was ever studious and typically the person everyone hated because she reminded the teacher that there was assigned homework. She graduated with flying colours, then went on to Uni and got accepted into an amazingly prestigeous program that allowed her to study in France and finish her degree. I forget what it was called, but I reasearched the school and their degrees. It was a combination of Fashion and Science and how the two enterlocked, very Sally. Fibre science I think or something. She loved all of her subjects, she’s such a nerd. She especially liked writing essays though, anything with writing and she was getting 100%. I think she only hated the practical side of things, like she is okay at sewing but I don’t see her being amazing at it. I think she likes the theory of textiles and likes telling people how to make them.
7. Did they have lots of friends as a child? Did they keep any of their childhood friends into adulthood?
NOpe! Nic was headcanoned as her childhood friend since preschool, since her and his parents crossed over a lot with the town’s reputation. Jacob and Blanca were best of friends for many years so they pushed Sally and Nic to be the same, which they did, so there was that.
Otherwise in high school her only friend was Kitty. And after school, Koda. That was it basically. 3 Friends LOL. Now after all of that, she’s adding Brandon into the mix. She’s so picky with the people she shares herself with, I’m amazed she even has a handful.
8. Did they have pets as a child? Do they have pets as an adult? Do they like animals?
Yes, her sweet little handbag dog, Amé. She was a birthday present a couple of years ago. She doesn’t really like animals no, they make her squeamish, but Amé is very quiet and gentlenatured, the perfect companion for Sally. She often is sleeping on Sally’s bed, her own doggy bed, or the couch. She’s kind of a quiet company for Sally, whom she sometimes talks to when she needs to vent her feelings. The only time Amé acts up is around people she doesn’t know, she gets way too excited and Sally hates it. She only likes when Amé is calm.
9. Do animals like them? Do they get on well with animals?
HAHA nope. Sally with a big dog would be her Worst Nightmare™.
10. Do they like children? Do children like them? Do they have or want any children? What would they be like as a parent? Or as a godparent/babysitter/ect?
She does and she doesn’t like children. Like with her dog, when they’re quiet and they behave, she loves them. The moment they throw a tantrum or are loud or messy, she has to tell herself to chill out or else she’ll have a melt down. I feel like children hate her, even when she tries to like them and goes out of her characteristic way to be nice. Theyre just like “NO” and shes like “ok listen here u little twit if you dont appreciate what i am doing for you ---”
So I think as a parent she would be very controlling. Too controlling and her partner would have to encourage her to ease up sometimes, that her children arent projects to be completely controlled, that making mistakes is part of learning and growing up. And that would be so hard for Sally to let happen. She was such a good behaved child and she let her parents condition every aspect of her (well, mostly Jacob), so not doing the same would just make no sense to her.
She would be the most spoiling and scary-when-mad godparent/babysitter/etc.
11. Do they have any special diet requirements? Are they a vegetarian? Vegan? Have any allergies?
For the longest time she was vegetarian and didn’t drink alcohol AT all. Now, with character development, she’s gone vegan but allowed herself to drink on special occasions. She does, however, have an immense allergy to cat hair and some medications.
12. What is their favourite food?
Sushi!!! (And her biggest guilty pleasure; macaroons. Dont let her near them she will eat them all uncontrollably. And feel ashamed every time.)
13. What is their least favourite food?
Meat.
14. Do they have any specific memories of food/a restaurant/meal?
Luis’ restauraunt ha ha ha. No but her and Nic used to always go for seafood, and she would break her vegetarian rules for him and eat shrimp. Now, I think she just enjoys going for green juices with May, and sushi train with Kitty. Also, take away will always remind her of Koda. And coffee dates, of Brandon. I feel like she has a scheduled day of the week for each other these hahaha.
15. Are they good at cooking? Do they enjoy it? What do others think of their cooking?
HAHAHAHA. Sally can’t cook, and she’d never really been interested in learning. Having a live-in housemaid kind of stopped her from learning to do anything domestic. She can’t cook, doesn’t know how to do laundry, and never got her driver’s lisence. She is a failure of a human in those aspects.
16. Do they collect anything? What do they do with it? Where do they keep it?
Sally used to love doing crafts, and she would make cards every year for birthdays and holidays. So I imagine she still collects craft things for that, but never does it anymore because she’s too busy. They just kind of lay on her desk or in their craft box, never getting used.
Of course, she also collects shoes and clothes. Duh.
17. Do they like to take photos? What do they like to take photos of? Selfies? What do they do with their photos?
Not really, she’s never had an eye for photography, and she hasn’t really had the chance to understand how a proper DSLR works. Mostly I think because she doesn’t really like being in photos. I imagine Kitty would always be like “!!!” when she’s photographed at a social event, showing off the print and Sally is just lowkey trying not to snatch it and burn it (but also look at it a lot in secret first to notice all her shallow imperfections). If anything, I think she would take photos of her parents on vacations, or of Kitty because she’d be constantly thrown her phone like “TAKE A PHOTO OF ME WITH THESE DOLPHINS!! HERE, TAKE A PHOTO OF ME LOOKING HOT BY THE POOL!!! OH MY GOD, LET ME GO STAND OVER THERE, YOU CAN TAKE A PHOTO!!” but also she would force Sally to be in some as well.
18. What’s their favourite genre of: books, music, tv shows, films, video games and anything else
Books: factual.Music: quiet, indie.Tv Shows: soap opera, dramatic not comical.Films: black and white, foreign with subtitles, romance, dark and philosophical themes.Video games; none.
19. What’s their least favourite genres?
Books: teen, sci-fi.Music: loud, obnoxious, rap, nsfw content.Tv Shows: comedic, ones that dont really follow a story line.Films: action.Video games; all.
20. Do they like musicals? Music in general? What do they do when they’re favourite song comes?
Okay she loves classic musicals. Like she is a big Les Misérables fan which is annoying because I hate it. I think she also LOVED the Lion King broadway show, Hairspray, Pracilla and like. Wicked obviously.
21. Do they have a temper? Are they patient? What are they like when they do lose their temper?
Oh she has a temper alright. But at the same time, sometimes, she can have incredible patiences. Like if she knows it’s worth waiting for (Kitty’s soberity, Koda’s health regeneration, Brandon’s ability to let her in) she’ll be a as patient as a saint. But she does lose her temper a lot, and she just goes full on control freak mode. She becomes impossible to deal with, so you kind of just need to let her ride it out.
22. What are their favourite insults to use? What do they insult people for? Or do they prefer to bitch behind someone’s back?
You’re impossible. / You’re insufferable. / I hate you. / Excuse me? / etc.
She will insult people for just about any reason she sees fit.
23. Do they have a good memory? Short term or long term? Are they good with names? Or faces?
Annoyingly good memory. She’ll remember something you said on Tuesday the 14th of April, 1982.
24. What is their sleeping pattern like? Do they snore? What do they like to sleep on? A soft or hard mattress?
She’s that impossible creature that sleeps on a bed of 100 pillows, with her hands neatly folded over her sternum, hair laid out like sleeping beauty. She sleeps on pastel silk sheets, the hardest matress you’ll probably ever feel, and she goes to bed at exactly 9.30 pm every night and wakes at 6am every day without fail.
25. What do they find funny? Do they have a good sense of humour? Are they funny themselves?
When people think they’re better or smarter than her. She’s got a shit sense of humour though, she isn’t used to being the one making the jokes. She’s not really that funny tbh. Nor does she usually find other people’s sense of humour worth her time. So if she laughs at things you say, you’ve made it.
26. How do they act when they’re happy? Do they sing? Dance? Hum? Or do they hide their emotions?
She cannot sing to save her life, so I think she talks to herself a lot. But the upbeat, chipper kind of way, that you’d notice because you can’t ignore it. I think she also does random acts of kindness, and that is super uncharacteristic, so you would definitely notice that too.
27. What makes them sad? Do they cry regularly? Do they cry openly or hide it? What are they like they are sad?
The fact she’s lonely, the fact that her birth mother doesn’t want anything to do with her, the fact that she can’t have everything she wants at the drop of a hat, the fact that she doesn’t know how to make friends or feel normal like everyone else. And yeah, she’s got a lot of pent up emotion and doesn’t really know how to deal with being sad or disappointed. So I think mostly, she’ll go into her closet, shut the door and cry. She wont cry in front of someone else if she can help it. She’s too private about herself, she’d never let someone see she’s fallen from her perch.
28. What is their biggest fear? What in general scares them? How do they act when they’re scared?
That she’ll always feel how lonely she feels right now. Or that she’ll never have what everyone else has; friendship, family and a partner.
29. What do they do when they find out someone else’s fear? Do they tease them? Or get very over protective?
I think it shocks her because to find out a persons fear, you need to be let in close to look at them, and she’s never expecting to be liked enough to be given that privilage. So she mostly falls silent, and just quietly thinks about it for a long time. Then, yeah, she gets protective and starts culling ways to help people achieve their goals rather than bring them down. Once she cares, she’s feircely supportive.
30. Do they exercise? Regularly? Or only when forced? What do they act like pre-work out and post-work out?
She goes for a 6.30 am run every day aside from Sundays and Mondays. Then she does yoga and pilates some other days, and has a very strict diet to keep the weight off. She was a bit chunkier in high school and the memory still horrifies her, even though it was just baby fat.
31. Do they drink? What are they like drunk? What are they like hungover? How do they act when other people are drunk or hungover? Kind or teasing?
Only on special occasions, like public events and holidays. I don’t think she’s ever been drunk before to be honest, but if she were to get drunk, just think of the scene where Kat Stratford drinks and starts dancing like a looney on the table, making a fool of herself. Yeah. Probably Sally lbh. Also, she’d get into political wars with everything, including a tree or chair.
32. What do they dress like? What sorta shops do they buy clothes from? Do they wear the fashion that they like? What do they wear to sleep? Do they wear makeup? What’s their hair like?
She wears a lot of Chanel the most, Prada shoes and handbags, and Gucci accessories. She wears lots of pasels, whites, creams, nudes, pinks, rosegolds, gold and browns. All the material is wears is high quality, and to sleep, she wears a pink silk nighty. She wears mineral cruelty free make up, and it’s all soft golds, browns, coppers and rose golds as well. She usually wears her hair up for work, down at home, and in a braid when she’s by herself or around someone she feels comfortable with. It’s her “chilled out” hair style, believe it or not.
33. What underwear do they wear? Boxers or briefs? Lacey? Comfy granny panties?
Pinks and whites, probably lacey tbh, and probably very expensive. She’s very much into haute couture so I can’t imagine her settling for non descript bonds or something. She probably has the most beautiful underwear sets that never go to any sexual use LOL.
34. What is their body type? How tall are they? Do they like their body?
She is short af. Hence why she likes to wear heels so often, even though she wears flats a lot, there’s no in between. While she’s skinny, I imagine she has lean thighs, like the kind people who run a lot get, and she hates it. She loves to run, and hates that it gives her “man calves and thighs”. It makes her hips look a little too big for her liking. She hates her body.
35. What’s their guilty pleasure? What is their totally unguilty pleasure?
Guilty: Macaroons. They go against her no-sugar diet, but she loves them too much to say no. Unguilty: acting superior towards everyone.
36. What are they good at? What hobbies do they like? Can they sing?
She is good at debating and organizing. She likes to plan events and organize everything from the guest list, to the menu, to the decorations. She also likes craft, and planning outfits. She can’t sing. AT all.
37. Do they like to read? Are they a fast or slow reader? Do they like poetry? Fictional or non fiction?
She loves reading, she always has. She likes to read books to learn, not for fictional pleasure. She’s a really, really fast reader. She can finish books in one sitting (which makes me so jealous). She does like poetry, but often the really ambiguous kind from authors not a lot of people are familiar with. Non fiction, 100%.
38. What do they admire in others? What talents do they wish they had?
She wishes she could relax and dance silly like Kitty, just to make people smile and to feel true freedom. She wishes she could speak more languages (even though she can speak 5 and write 3). She wishes she could be normal, and she admires people for their adaptability and empathy.
39. Do they like letters? Or prefer emails/messaging?
Oh the romantic in her loves them, but the old fashioned prude in her loves them too. She sends lots of letters, but also uses emails for work a lot. She likes all of them.
40. Do they like energy drinks? Coffee? Sugary food? Or can they naturally stay awake and alert?
Energy drinks? No. Coffee? Yes. Sugary foods? No. She is hyped up on her own sense of crazy so she doesn’t really need any of these.
41. What’s their sexuality? What do they find attractive? Physically and mentally? What do they like/need in a relationship?
Heterosexual.
Things she finds attractive; good wit, chivalry, sense and reason, sensible people, smart people, business savvy people, a good suit, cleanshaven and expensive cologne, wealth and passion.
What she wants in a relationship; romance, support, devotion.
What she needs in a relationship; respect of privacy, trust, honesty.
42. What are their goals? What would they sacrifice anything for? What is their secret ambition?
Her goals lay in the fashion industry, she wants to work in a BIG and well known company, where she can boss people around and choose looks for approaching seasons. She likes to buy for companies, rather than design. She likes being the one who chooses what’s hot and what’s not.
She would sacrifice her dream of having a family if it meant getting the career of her dreams.
Personal goals include getting married and having children.
Her secret ambition is to finally be okay with who she is as a person, and stop trying to live to her expectation of what everyone else thinks is right and just.
43. Are they religious? What do they think of religion? What do they think of religious people? What do they think of non religious people?
Yes, she’s a Christian. She goes through phases of practicing, she used to a lot more when she was younger, but now she likes to practice quietly and in privacy. She thinks non religious people are missing out.
44. What is their favourite season? Type of weather? Are they good in the cold or the heat? What weather do they complain in the most?
Spring, because florals! But also autumn, because autumn colours are so her colours. She likes the filler seasons because she doesn’t like extreme heat or cold. Her perfect weather is no wind, but a slight chill in the air. She doesn’t do well with ice and snow OR heat and sunburn. She complains about the cold the most I think.
45. How do other people see them? Is it similar to how they see themselves?
They usually see her as stuck up, bossy, annoying, spoiled, narcassistic, and controlling. And tbh it’s not much different to how she sees herself, becuse she does acknowledge all of those traits in herself. But it kind of makes her sad too, because rather than trying to prove people wrong, she puts up a guard. If that’s what they think? Then good for them, they’re missing out, they’ll never get to see how much love she actually has to give, or how supportive, loyal and caring she can be.
46. Do they make a good first impression? Does their first impression reflect them accurately? How do they introduce themselves?
HA, no way. People hate her on sight generally. Usually she introduces herself with a look of really not wanting to be there. She’s very snobby, so you’ll be able to tell instantly if she likes you or not. Other than that, when she knows it’s in her best interest not to be rude, she’s fake. She’s so shiny plastic fake, that it’s usually easy to see through as well.
47. How do they act in a formal occasion? What do they think of black tie wear? Do they enjoy fancy parties and love to chit chat or loathe the whole event?
Shiny plastic fake, as put just before. She adores formal occasions and events, she loves black tie events, but she loves white tie more. Being invited to prestigious events makes Sally believe she’s worth something, even though she knows that without all the wealth and notoriety, these people are basically nothing. She likes the entrepreneurial air of fancy parties, the networking, the gossip. She likes feeling included in something that really couldn’t care less if she turned up or not. :/
48. Do they enjoy any parties? If so what kind? Do they organise the party or just turn up? How do they act? What if they didn’t want to go but were dragged along by a friend?
Yes, the big, fancy, corperate types. You won’t catch her at a bar, club or house party though to save her life. Not unless Kitty literally bound and dragged her there. She likes to organize any formal event she can, if she can get her name on the commitee list, she will put 110% towards making sure it’s a big success.
If she’s being dragged to a party, Sally normally sits uncomfortably and turns down every drink/food offered to her. She complains the whole time, looks upset and unsettled, and asks when she can go home all night. Probably leaving of her own accord once Kitty gets too drunk. (with or without her).
49. What is their most valued object? Are they sentimental? Is there something they have to take everywhere with them?
Her day planner, it has her life inside it, and she relies so heavily upon it I’m not sure what she’d do without it. It goes everywhere with her yes, along with her phone because of her calendar. She’s always got something on in the next five minutes, whether it’s actually something important or “bathroom break”.
She’s very sentimental though. She remembers her first pair of shoes she bought herself, the first Chanel dress her father gave her, the necklace she got for her birthday, the complimentary pack she got from her first fashion show as a somebody, the shrivelled balloon from the first birthday party Kitty ever threw for her, etc. Those things stay with her forever, and she keeps them very dear to her cold, stony heart.
50. If they could only take one bag of stuff somewhere with them: what would they pack? What do they consider their essentials?
Her day planner. Facial and body clenses. A hair brush/comb. Her phone. A smart pair of flats. Her passport and another form of ID. Hand cream. A travel sized perfume. Hand sanitizer and a packet of sanitizer wipes. An echo bottle of water. A good quality sweater in case she gets cold. Asprin and an epipen.

Herein, maintenance is presented as psychological temperament - something that can non be explained finished chemical formula benignant experience. Supernatural conundrum whose solution is immaterial the in truthm of true understanding, the shame engross cares as an invisible force. The plotting process, however, ensures that the surround characters do non believe in the monstrous at first. \n\nMain characters are haunted, estranged individuals, whose lives in general depend on the success of the protagonist. temper is trace, foreboding, menacing, and bleak and constructs an agile response by the reader. Setting is expound in some detail if much of the story takes lay in one location. Plot contains shake up and unthought incidents.\n\n resemblance explains the initial actions of the repulsion entity. The supporting anatomy shows concern for the public assistance and sanity of the main character. Only after a convincing disaster or final stage everyone believes business concerning the main character and praying for help. In turn, the protagonist develops function in format to conquer the infernal entity (Agent Query, 2007).\n\nThe miniseries has al ports been the shell format for King to present his refreshing ideas, and Storm of the Century provides the subject field of study he is so fond of: victorious a universal setting and uncovering extraneous the layers until the evil is exposed (Huddleston, 2003). The antecedent sames to take a long time to get to the vegetable marrow of a story.\n\nKings execration involves supernatural effects. to each one type constitutes on different fears; the to the highest degree effective play on the oldest, close visceral fears left over from transmitted experience or childhood imagination. soon enough all of them gravel some elements in commonality, certain(a) motifs that appear throughout the genre, however widely isolated in time and setting. These motifs horrify by taking out-of-door things we depend on. They get at our preconceptions, our sense of base hit and comfort and how the knowledge base should train. They twist and yield the familiar into the unfamiliar. They painful principal us with differences.\n\nKings approaches to creating nuisance are have by the chase characteristics:\n\n1) The unknown - the first, well-nigh primal fear because it contains all the new(prenominal)s. Anything could devolve; anything could emerge from the darkness.\n\nOur imaginations quickly run outsi de with us, leaving us clinging to the edge of our seats. but the unknown is boundless in possible as well as in threat. Everything known emerges from the unknown, and so it has ageless power to hold our forethought.\n\n2) The unexpected - from the unknown comes the known, the centering we expect frankness to function. When something shatters our expectations, we feel appall and distress. Your stomach plummets when the demon smashes through the wall. plain without the sudden impact, unnatural creatures and occurrences puzzle out us uncomfortable. On a deep, instinctive aim we react to them as wrong. Sane people do non like having to s alikel with an insane gentleman. The erroneous confuses us.\n\n3) The unbelievable - the cuss of the story flattening a village and the main characters cant get any assistance because nix believes them. We disregard that which does not fit into our exist definition of globe ... a wild habit. We also fear falling into a situation th at places us beyond belief.\n\nThe disposition of sanity comes into question. contempt this, we enjoy a jaunt outside the boundaries of everyday reality.\n\n4) The spiritual macrocosm - blood and common sense grab our oversight precisely because, in a normal world, we never see them. They only extend visible when something goes in earnest wrong. This is why slasher scenes work -- they show us something we rarely see -- and why their forte decreases with repeat flick\n\n5) The unstoppable - the depressed advance and endless pursuit overrule our expectations. People retreat, flake harder as they game into corners. Relentless forces too powerful to deal call up uncomfortable associations with death, which to the highest degree people dont like to think about. save death comes for everyone in time, so we cannot exclude it forever. Instead we go whistling cumulus dark alleys to look the inevitable.\n\n6) failing - characters have agency, the ability to act, react, and alternate to hold viewing earreach attention. Much of the haul comes from a finish up deficiency of agency, of power.\n\n7) want - is the central conflict. Helplessness contrasts with aching, desperate guide. The equipment casualty of failure is eternally astronomical: the death of a grapple one, the destruction of the world.\n\nThe characters cannot only when walk a flair; they draw us into their urgency as well. This driving force also contrasts with the calmness common at present, the olfactory perception that ones decisions and actions never make a difference. Thus, the very stress of the protagonists throw together pull ins to us.\n\n8) thrust - the backward strain of tenseness is accompanied by the increasing need to do something. Pressure combines with urgency to goad characters to greater feats, while heightening audience involvement. The pressure builds, peaks, and hence dissipates.\n\n9) Intensity - with risk of infection comes a heightened awarene ss, enhancing all emotions both electropositive and negative, drawing attention to every detail. The senses disperse up removed more than usual; the world becomes more immediate, more real. The passion of emotion and sensation drowns out common sense.\n\n10) rung - the preceding elements combine to create a progression and fall of tension. Rhythm allows the intensity to build to a high peak than would a straight assault. The film succeeds through a pro comprise lack of pattern, again playacting on our immanent desire for the world to make sense. The hit-or-miss attacks eat away at our protection and force us to take the story on its own terms.\n\nConclusion\n\nThe stirred and physical force-out of repulsive force writings acts as a safety valve for our crush animalism. Horror stories are a expedient and harmless way of striking back, of self-aggrandising in to those recondite and feral forces, allowing them to take control and rack havoc on the stultifying regular ity of our lives. Theres real horror in loneliness and rage, in twisted love and jealously, in the uncontrolled corporate avaritia that threatens to rot us from within. Much of todays horror is about these dark stains on our souls, the cancers of our minds.\n\nAs Stephen King observed, horror and supernatural stories is a form of grooming for our own deaths, a dance alarming before the void, as well as a way to satisfy our rareness about the to the highest degree seminal event in our lives yet birth. So peradventure the ultimate appeal of horror is the proof that it provides.\n\nThe opposite of death is life. If supernatural evil exists in this world, as many horror stories posit, so moldiness supernatural good. blacken magic is balance by white. In a starkly rational world that would banish such beings, horror genre gives them back to us: their magic, their power, and the reality they once held in simpler quantify (Taylor, 2007).\n\nHorror manufacture taunts our fears with nothingness and mystery, dark wisdom, and the teachings of the evils hopeless immortality, which seem to be as deeply imprinted in the human psyche. Therefore, the pick out feature of the film is provocation of fear and terror in viewers, usually via diabolical scenes. This is added by a sense of dread, unease, anxiety, or foreboding. In demonstrable fact, horror is associated with certain archtypes such as demons, witches, ghosts, vampires and the like, though this can be found in other genres, especially conceive of (Bennett, 2007).\n\nStorm of the century is a painful and intense fear, dread, and dismay. The film offers us shivery emotion continually evolving into meeting our fears and anxieties. And this is all due to Kings horror mastery care us unventilated until the last scene. \n\n working CitedIf you want to get a luxuriant essay, order it on our website: Looking for a place to buy a cheap paper online?
