Matunuck Oyster Bar, Wakefield RI.
My favorite restaurant in Rhode Island never disappoints 😉
Everything I ordered:
Seared SCALLOPS -ginger soba noodles, bok-choy, shiitake mushrooms, crispy shallots, XO sauce.
LOBSTER PIZZA-Naan bread, lobster, mascarpone, arugula, gouda, prosciutto, mozzarella, white truffle.
OYSTER TRIO-two Grilled, two Bourbon, two Rockefeller style oysters.
CLAMS & LINGUINE RI- littlenecks, white wine, garlic, extra virgin olive oil, fresh herbs.
And of course Oysters for an appetizer🦪
For Dessert (because I never say no to dessert 🍮) Chocolate Bread Pudding!
I have reviewed this restaurant a few times and I always give it a star studded review! This 4th of July weekend was no different! I loved everything about all of our dishes.
The oysters are always fresh, the seafood is always prepped or cooked perfectly and the atmosphere is friendly, nice and fun! Everyone is there for a delicious meal and to have a great time with food 😉
If you are ever in RI please do yourself a favor and get reservations at @matunuckoysterbar! Once you eat there once you will be craving more 😉
Based on presentation and taste of all our food at @matunuckoysterbar I would rate this restaurant a 10 out of 10.

I'm trying to pick a major that I would be the most interested in just because it would make my life so much easier and right now I have like three ideas and they all have a million problems
#like bioengineering. that sounds great right#id make good money with even just a bachelors degree#but i dont want to be stuck with that my whole life. that doesnt sound fun to me and engineering is supposed to be a miserable major#AND MINOR#and its a relatively new field so not a lot of places near me have it. and the places that DO have it are crazy expensive#i want to get a degree in linguistics because thats something that sounds fun to me. i would enjoy that#im good with english and language#but what can i really do with a linguistics degree? and im not good at learning other languages so i couldnt be an interpreter as much as i#would enjoy it#i kind of want to go for theatre tech stuff but. idk there arent really any buts but is that really realistic for me? i stopped doing tech#in freshman year because people were kind of mean. im a quitter and theyre not going to like that and i havent done anything related#in so long so really what are the chances i get accepted for that#i know people who tech for bands make pretty good money and they have fun#i lied theres four#i could do geology something but thats broad and also the best school for it in the state is UF.#im NOT going to UF. i would rather die. its a personal grudge. also they suck and barely accept anybody even though the school SUCKS AND IT#SO EXPENSIVE FOR NO REASON#i wanted to do marine bio two years ago but theres soooo many problems with that. including ticks#I HATE TICKS#“but joel. isnt it MARINE science? there arent ticks in the ocean” YOURE WRONG. TICKS ARE EVERYWHERE. also marine bio has a lot to do with#marshes and there ARE ticks in marshes. and maritime hammocks where id be spending a lot of time. you would not believe the amount of ticks#ive gotten from my marine bio and environmental management classes. its so many. so many ticks

united states lines' ss leviathan postcard ca. early 1920s
while claiming to depict leviathan, in this card you can still read vaterland on the bow, and see that the funnels are not yet US lines' colors. when wwi broke out vaterland laid up in then-neutral US harbor, but was seized upon the country's entry into the war. she was the only german ship in US harbor that wasn't sabotaged by her crew before seizure.

Iggy's Doughboys & Chowder House, Narragansett RI.
Like the Chowder Bowl says “it’s always summer at Iggy’s.” This clam stand will always be nostalgic to me and have a special place in my memories and heart!
I love getting the lobster roll dinner at @iggys_ri because it comes with your choice of cold or hot lobster roll. Chowder or Salad and French fries with coleslaw. I always get a side order of Clam Fritters and of course the famous Doughboys! I love getting the fritters bc I can dip them in my chowder!
I did order the cold lobster roll the other day, it was a hot day and I wanted something refreshing. The lobster rolls at Iggy’s are delicious. They have so much meat in eat roll. The #lobstertomayoratio is great, not too much mayo and you can taste the fresh lobster. The roll was stuffed to the brim with meat and the bun was toasted so well that it was crispy and help the meat well. I don’t like when the bun has a soggy bottom (The Greatest British Baking Show reference there!)
The New England Clam Chowder was delicious. They do have a good amount of clams and potatoes in the chowdah. The clam fritters are delicious too, they have lot of clams baked into the fritter. The cinnamon and sugar doughboys are the best way to end a delicious meal. I definitely recommend more than one 😉 the dough is nice and warm too, so it just melts in your mouth!!
Based on presentation and taste of the lobster roll at @iggys_ri I would rate this cold lobster roll a 8.5 out of 10.

gotta say, not being able to find an organization that does weekly litter cleanups within the city I just moved to after what I've seen this past week is a fucking crime
"we strive to maintain our waterways 😊" where are your events for the year. where are your cleanups. how do I sign up, how do I report the absolute landfill spots I've seen passing through a STATE PARK while on the commuter train.
granted it only recently got warm out but climate change might as well as be working in our favor because that means we can start cleaning NOW. LEMME AT IT GDI
#aggressively cleans your shorelines#I'm fucking fuming I wanna fucking do something about it gdi#I've done so many river cleanups back in Indiana now that I'm near the ocean i merely get more passionate about it#ranting#delete later#god I'm so fucking mad#not at any org I'm assuming they're doing their best with the funds they have but its horrific that this has happened#and is in one of Maryland's largest state parks along one of its major rivers feeding into the bay#what the fuck man

this panel from the world guide of falin being surrounded by other girls while laios is all alone kills me because. that's it. that's the key difference in their journeys.
as laios states himself, he left the village in order to create a home for him and falin elsewhere. a home that won't collapse due to others' hatred and fears like their old home did, a home where they are loved and accepted unconditionally. but as he soon found out, even before earning money, or having walls surrounding him and a roof above his head- what he so earnestly desired was to meet other people who will accept him for who he is as well. instead, he kept being tormented by those around him, shunned and sneered at. his loneliness quickly became all-consuming until he truly had nothing left except for the monsters in the pages of his book, but even that became a target of mockery and destroyed. that's why ever since the day he left the village, he never felt that he truly made the right choice. so he kept running away: unable to resist and unable to accpet.
and an ocean away from him there was his sister, who never managed to fully fit in herself. but unlike him, she met a person who became a home to her and learned what a true friendship was for the first time in her life. and laios clearly realizes that too when he finally sees falin and marcille together, he can tell his sister obtained the greatest treasure there is on her own- the exact thing he never managed to find anywhere himself, thus coming back empty-handed to the sister he left the village for.
but when you read this part of the manga, laios's focus is on falin's loneliness, not his own. he talks about how it hurts thinking about all those moments she had to spend alone because he wasn't there for her, so it almost sounds like he's the one who couldn't bear her suffering and therefore decided to not let her go again. but we do get a glimpse of their first meeting after that almost-decade long separation in the manga, and then we see more of that in the world guide and daydream hour- and it becomes abundantly clear that it was falin who was trying to protect and save him from this pit of loneliness and depression he was in.
so instead of just doing his best to atone for leaving her behind in the village and making sure she is never lonely again, it might also be that laios was desperately clinging to the one person in the world he felt that accepted and loved him unconditionally. those words he used to describe his motivation to stay by falin's side are the exact words she would've used as well; she couldn't bear leaving him behind in this state. in a sense, they were each other's shackles.
but then she did. she died for him and their friends, and ironically enough, it was by leaving him alone like this that he was finally able to stand on his own and put his full trust in others. to have the courage to reveal who he is and give others the opportunity to accept him after such a long time of hiding. it was a long journey, but his hiding finally came to an end when he faced the others after shedding his monster form. and i love that the person who was falin's "home" all those years away from laios, marcille, became just as meaningful to him during their time separated from falin- the first one to find him and show him that he isn't alone anymore. just as he did for her.
so at the end of the story when falin talks about all the places she would like to go, it's not just that she wants to pursue her own dreams- but that she actually feels free to do so and go anywhere she desires. and one of the main reasons for that is that her brother finally found new people he wants to be with; his own home.

#Chicago my beloved#time for my annual promotion post for Chicago#some reasons you should move to Chicago:#you get a big city experience for cheaper than most cities (big and medium sized!!!#it’s cheaper to live here than NYC; LA; SFO; SLC; pretty much anywhere on the coast)#pristine beautiful lake that is one of the largest in the world#it’s like a mini-ocean with miles and miles of clean public beaches#you’re never more than a 10 minute walk from a public park or a 15 minute walk from a public library#competitive and expanding job market—lots of companies are making Chicago a hub because we’re centrally located and have the infrastructure#enshrined civil rights like marriage; abortion; gender affirming care; etc#it’s through the whole state but Chicago is the best part#strong union culture AND protected union rights#democratic stronghold for over 100 years#great public transportation (though admittedly we can improve)#affordable housing compared to all major and most medium cities!#177 distinct and interesting neighborhoods—the city is more than the loop and you’ll find when you live here#the loop is the least interesting part of the city!!!#immensely walkable—most places/neighborhoods have walking scores in the 90s#Midwest nice: people are friendly and helpful to their neighbors and acquaintances#and lots of local bars and restaurants love their regulars#ALLEYWAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you don’t realize how key this is until you visit NYC or LA in the summer#both of those cities smell like boiling trash and are covered in garbage#Chicago has alleyways which take care of the garbage and help keep the streets clean#around 30% of people in Chicago don’t even own cars#anyway that’s just a few reasons I love my city and if you’re thinking of moving; move here#we’re friendly; we’re pretty liberal; we have a beautiful city and we work hard to make life better#Chicago#also because I feel this is fairly representative of the city: my fav local yarn store is by an insect museum; an LGBTQ+ game store &#a vintage bowling alley
