Went on a trail ride with another girl I haven’t ridden with in a while l and said “hey let’s try this trail!” and then I nearly got us stuck in a fucking swamp

I literally said “haha, come on Bertie (my horse) it’s not like it’s quicksand” and then boom! it kind of WAS though and my pony is fat but she is small, so she got stuck up to her knees a few times but oh my god, poor Buster is a normal sized thick ol halter hog quarter horse boy and he almost went down. he sunk in on the left side up to his stifle. that’s like his hip man that’s like. Almost the butt. that was high-as-a-horse’s-hips mud. That was horse-thigh-gap-height mud. Oh my god.

This obviously scared the horse so then he scrambled out as best he could and he took his mom into a bank full of many sharp little trees and she almost came off and then had to get down and back him back into the mud to get him out and around the trees again

Was my horse as affected? No. Was I hit so hard in the face by tree branches that I bit my lip? No, but her horse reenacted the neverending fucking story for a minute there and she got pistol whipped by branches and I felt so bad 😭 in fairness, she never objected to exploring. not in fairness, it was absolutely my dumbass idea

This is why no one wants to ride with us, even when I try to have a chill walk-only lazy little trail ride I still manage to get us into some kind of chaos, because my riding style can only be described as Quaintly Unhinged™️

It was a beautiful morning to feed the animals, but instead of the early-morning serenity that usually opened up each day, tension weighed heavily in the air. Fluttershy and Marble Pie, who usually used this time to bond, were starkly at odds with each other.

At this point, they couldn’t talk about anything without it leading back to the baby dragon in their home.

“Piper could have been seriously hurt! You don’t know what could happen when that dragon—“

“That dragon is named Rosemary!”

Fluttershy snipped back before Marble could fret any further.

“I can’t believe you! She’s our daughter and you’re treating her like she doesn’t belong!”

“She doesn’t!”

Marble quickly felt a pang of guilt at what came out of her mouth. She was terrified after the “incident” with Sandpiper but she didn’t mean to come across so heartless. She knew her wife worked hard to take care of Rosemary just like she did any young and helpless creature.

“I mean…”

“Shhh.”

Fluttershy shushed her softly. She was absolutely peeved and ready to argue further, but she had a job to do first. So she poured some birdseed on the ground and waited patiently for the songbirds to come for their breakfast.

This moment of silence gave Marble some time to think about her feelings and how she wanted to express them, how she could get Fluttershy to see her side. As she pondered, a pair of birds landed by her hooves and she got an idea.

“These little ones have a family, right?”

“Mmhm.”

Fluttershy mumbled out what would usually be Marble’s typical response, her teeth still gripped tensely around the bag of seed.

“Imagine if another bird took one of their eggs while they were away. Maybe…a toucan. Those birds live in the rainforest, which is no place for a little songbird. And they’re omnivores, I think. A songbird wouldn’t be able to handle eating lizards and rodents and who knows what!”

“Where are you going with this?”

Her wife asked, though she was pretty sure she already knew.

“The toucan who took the egg would have no idea how to raise a songbird, because their home and lifestyle aren’t fit for it. And Equestria is no fit for a growing dragon. We don’t know the first thing about raising one! If you hadn’t taken her from that nest, she would be raised by her kind and they would know how to take care of her.”

“So you think we should send her back?”

Marble nodded, so sure of herself that it made Fluttershy want to scream.

“Do you know what would have happened if I hadn’t taken her egg home? I don’t even want to think about it…because she wasn’t even in a nest. She was all alone, abandoned in a bush. We’re the ones giving her any chance of a life at all.”

The earth pony mare was about to object to this, but Fluttershy stopped her.

“But you do have a point.”

Fluttershy almost didn’t want to admit this, but she was always wiling to put her pride aside when it concerned someone else’s well being. This wasn’t about who was winning the argument.

“I was just as scared as you were when Rosie started breathing fire. I guess I realized…we’re really not prepared at all. We have no clue how to keep her AND Piper safe, I really should have thought this through.”

“Hmm?”

Marble almost couldn’t believe it, for once Fluttershy was starting to admit she was wrong in all this. That she’d gone behind her back, forced a baby on her that she didn’t sign up for. That she shouldn’t have brought the dragon home at all…well, not that far yet. But maybe she’d soon realize that.

“But I know plenty of dragons and ponies who could help us. Spike was a dragon raised in Equestria and it worked out really well for him. If Twilight could do it, so can we.”

Or not.

Fluttershy grew less peeved and more confident, once again assuring herself that she could solve anything as long as she was kind enough, as long as she cared enough.

“Don’t worry, we’ll figure this out.”

But when Marble would usually have been comforted by her wife’s ability to take charge and problem-solve, she wasn’t convinced at all. Fluttershy had been too confident before and this is where it got them, putting their child at risk. 

She was starting to lose trust in her judgment.

If you're riding your horse really fast what song plays in your head?

I kept trying to take a video to post with this, but my horse was in Fire Breathing Dragon mode last week and could not be trusted to do anything but trot (while she attempted to figure out how to fly and to see how fast she could spin in a circle), and the week before my stupid faux pro wouldn’t work…

But the answer is: a lot of the stuff you would imagine haha. Usually it’s something like Battle of the Pelennor Fields- return of the king; homeland- spirit stallion of the cimarron; coming back around- how to train your dragon; we’ll be back- Silverado. These songs live rent free in my head at all times.

Lately though I’ve been experimenting with hype songs for her. Like, she sometimes enjoys listening to podcasts. She has certain music that she seems to hate for no apparent reason (she doesn’t like lord of the rings 😭). I thought it might be the strings being too high pitched for her, but I had the blue eye samurai soundtrack on a little while back and she was fine with it, really high pitched woodwinds and all. The last time we cantered (not even a deadass gallop) the album as on a shuffle and “for whom the bell tolls” came up and she was straight up vibing 😂 so I’ll have to see if maybe the key to happy speed for her is just… metal

Walking In A Winter Wonderland

"Keep up, CeCe! Haze isn't waiting around today." Patrick shouted over the wind, with a sly smile. His statement is met from an eyeroll from his girlfriend, Cecily. She always hated being called CeCe. Or at least, she acted like it. Truthfully, she got butterflies when it was Patrick saying it.

Cecily gave Bertie a little squeeze with her calves; the Morgan x draft cross didn't have quite the leggy build of Patrick's giant warmblood mare. "Alternatively, you could try to keep your mare from running away with you." As if on cue, Haze let out a loud snort and tossed her head. The mare's favorite speed was a gallop, so she was protesting the idea of a calm, winter hack. The duo kept up their playful bickering throughout their ride.

The holiday season lends itself to reflection on those important to you. Cecily and Patrick fatefully met at a Pony Club camp as kids. Their relationship weathered the years, until they realized there was no one else they'd rather spend their lives with. A smile from Cecily reminded Patrick of that future that would be starting soon. Today may not be the day, the snow was heavier than Patrick was hoping for, but Patrick knew the ring in his pocket wouldn't stay a secret for long. For now, he would enjoy how a snow day with your best friend, is a wonderland.

Hi Kindheart525 me again I'm glad that you and your friend had a good celebration, one question are interested in other fandoms

Although I’m mainly involved in the MLP: FiM fandom, I do dabble in other things now and then! I have drawn fanart for Tuca & Bertie and Bojack Horseman, for which I have my small Crackerjack Lives AU project. I might do more art for both of those shows sometime down the line. I also have a lot of friends in the Helluva Boss fandom; I watch the show and form opinions on it, but I do not have plans to make art for it except for maybe a sona. I also have a gemsona for Steven Universe that I may post here, but I am not active in that fandom otherwise. Many other shows (The Good Place, Schitt’s Creek, New Girl, Modern Family, other sitcoms) I’m little more than a casual fan of.

In short, it’s mainly MLP, Bojack, T&B, and sometimes Helluva Boss (discussions only).
