Too many children.

Burnished eyes scoured the surroundings, several feet above the offending, excitable youngsters. Bellatrix didn't dislike them as such, but intent upon following the narrow path towards Knockturn Alley, she found herself irked by their presence. Crowding the cobbles like a swarm of ants with stuffed toys and candyfloss, she swatted a few of them aside before her stare fell fatefully upon the little girl with unnaturally orange hair. Well, she certainly wasn't a Prewett or a Weasley. The eldest Black knew precisely who she was. Turning swiftly, her conclusion was verified by the sight of Andromeda and her beast of a husband, his hands upon her, defiling her purity with his loathsome filth. Years had passed. Oh-so many years. Yet this vision sent her rage into overdrive, her skin suddenly feeling like she wanted to rip it off. It crawled, itching, scratching as though knifes etched from the inside out, a yearning to set the world ablaze cutting deep into her bones and causing dour irises to snap wide.

For another moment, she stood, taking steadying breaths while her fists clenched and unclenched beside her hips. Her emotions enraged her. It was not correct that she should still experience upset, and so she cast that feeling aside, tossing it asunder with the determination of a witch who would stop at nothing. A different certainty filled her ravaging thoughts, her focus beelining quickly and expertly towards a far better outlet for her frustration. She turned on her heels, her rich crimson dress swishing the pavement like the world's finest dust cloth as she stalked back towards the little ones and knelt down to address the group.

Her foul temper had disappeared. There was nothing but jovial pleasantry, a bright smile and dancing eyes as she joined them in admiring the shop's contents through the window. She had flipped a switch and it was all thanks to her very own cruel intentions. As the children reacted positively, encouraging her plan, she began to spiral towards a more genuine pleasure. Perhaps she might enjoy this, after all.

"Do I?" she asked with false surprise, as Nymphadora told her she looked 'just like her mum'. Laughing widely, she stood and cast a charm into the alley to make it glow brighter. "I'm getting ice cream. Would you like some?" The girl hesitated. But a swift Confundus had her following in no time at all, Bellatrix gripping her hand as though she were a precious thing that could not possibly slip from her grasp. Right now: she couldn't. A few others joined them in the alley, redundantly summoned by the residual effect of her charm. Caring nothing for them, they wandered away while she paced towards where she'd left her husband sitting with Alecto. He was now alone, and he looked up and laughed, wondering what the fuck his wife was doing now.

After sitting the girl down, she then did indeed obtain ice cream and several other excellent treats, getting her to chat about all things Ted and Andromeda. Discovering that her parents were worried about the war and always busy and tired was mildly satisfying. To her surprise, Bellatrix discovered the girl was a little spitfire, filled with a rebellious spirit that reminded her of herself at that age. It was repulsive. If she hadn't been that mudblood's offspring, she might actually have liked her. That metamorphmagus gene sure as hell didn't come from Tonks's muggle family, and it was with that which she truly wanted to play, getting the child to replicate both her and Rodolphus's appearances until she was satisfied that she'd be able to mirror them from memory. If would be more than enough to push her darling sister's nerves over a cliff, and perhaps she'd do them all a favour and drag that bastard Auror husband with her.

It was a good thirty minutes before she returned to the main bustle in Diagon Alley, and another fifteen before she located Andromeda rushing around frantically. Sending Nymphadora on her way, she strode a retreat, congratulating herself as she joined Rodolphus once more.

Sly eyes raised through heavy lashes, meeting his and finding them equally entertained. It was hardly the brutal thrill that usually got them hot and bothered. But it would do for now. She placed a hand to his chest, lips parting as a sour chuckle trailed her teasing tongue.

"Bets on how long it'll take Andromeda to come for us?"

With any luck, not long at all. She wouldn't mind sending her sister to an early grave.

What an excellent start to the new year that would be.

People like to speculate on what the series might have been like if Neville was "The Chosen One" instead of Harry.

Well, he was.

Harry was chosen by Lord Voldemort for their own private war.

But by taking away his parents, Bellatrix and the other Death Eaters chose Neville to fight them.

While Harry was off fighting Lord Voldemort with no one to protect or think about except Ron and Hermione, Neville was battling for the soul of Hogwarts with the entire student body as potential collateral damage.

While Harry was alone in the forest, Neville was at Hogwarts fighting the Death Eaters with Dumbledore's Army, the Order of the Phoenix, and the remnants of their families to worry about.

Note:- Harry was chosen for a solo mission. Neville was chosen to lead an army. ❤️

Hi! This is my new shifting Tumblr account that I will be using since TikTok is getting banned. Please bare with me as I am learning how to navigate Tumblr. Thanks!

To start off, I will introduce my main DRs that I have.

𝐡o𝐠𝓦a𝓻𝔱𝕤 ϟ

In this reality, my name is Lila Laelia Lunaria Lestrange (mouthful I know). My parents are Sirius Black and Laelia Lestrange. My mother was unalived by Voldemort during the first wizarding war because he thought I was one of the two children that would lead to his downfall. For my safety, my father, Sirius, had his cousin Helene Black (who is the identical twin and squib of Bellatrix Lestrange) take me into hiding outside of the country. I was raised in America until the wizarding war was over and Voldemort had been vanquished. When I got older, I had no idea about my magical existence. Helene (who I call my mother) thought that I was a squib and was relieved by that idea. Until one day, I was taking a train home in Kings Cross Station when I began to hear strange voices. These voices eventually led me to accidentally destroy the station. Glass was bursting everywhere, lights flickered until the power cut out, and the trains going by suddenly stopped. A power outage happened all across London, but only for a minute until the lights came back on. Then I will shift to the next morning after this event had happened where I will then learn that I am a witch and I have to attend Hogwarts. I will be shifting to first year, 1991. I did originally have Harry as my s/o for this DR, but I may change it to an OC that I have in mind. Still debating.

In this DR, my name is Katherine Rose Osbourne. Yes, that's right. Osbourne. I am the eldest daughter of Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne. I was born on October 31st, 1981 (yikes) as a "surprise baby". My siblings are Aimee, Kelly, and Jack. I am shifting to October 26th, 1995. I wanted to experience my teen years in this DR because I always wanted to live through the 90s. Plus the Osbournes are chaotic, and OzzFest!! My future s/o will be Ville Valo. He is the lead singer of my favorite band HIM. My future career is being both an actress and singer, as well as, a very far off into the future, director. I will form a band called 'The Damned' and I basically stole the whole soundtrack of Queen of the Damned (watch it if you haven't). Then in the 2000s I do a solo career where I release the album Fallen (yes, the Evanescence one) and The Open Door (can you tell I love Evanescence so much I had to steal their music?). For movies, I am in: Interview with the Vampire (1994) as Claudia, Romeo + Juliet (1996) as Juliet, Sleepy Hollow (1999) as Katrina Von Tassel, and Nosferatu (2015) as Ellen Hutter. For my directing, I only will direct and write one tv show and that is Interview with the Vampire (2022- ). I have been thinking about making this my new CR once I'm done shifting throughout the multiverse. Possibly.

This is the current DR that I am obsessed with and currently shifting to (please if there are any Sandman shifters, let me know). Side note: I'm also reading the Sandman comics for the first time so I incorporated some events from the comics into my DR.

Anyways, in this DR my name is Laila. I chose this name because it means 'night' and goes with my identity as the Goddess of Sleep and Death.

My parents are Hades and Persephone. I was born in the Underworld, but I didn't live there for long as I was taken when I was 3-years-old. "Why were you taken?" I'm glad you asked (no one asked but Imma tell you anyways). Alex Burgess once had a lover named Paul. Paul died unexpectedly and this sent him into an indescribable grief. Alex would do anything to get Paul back. He even asked the King of Dreams to bring him back, but only received silence from the Dream King. In frustration, Alex followed in his father's footsteps and attempted to summon Death again. Only this time, he did. Well, sort of. It was a toddler. Death was a toddler. Despite that, Alex asked the child with white hair to bring him back Paul. The child responded clearly, coherently, "He is where he needs to be". This upset Alex deeply. As he was practically sobbing in front of the child, the little girl raised his chin to force him to look at her and she channeled Paul. Creepily, Paul's voice spoke from the girl's mouth as her eyes were clouded over. Alex had Paul back. And so he kept the child close. So close that he would force her to channel Paul so that he could talk to him any time he needed. Alex would reward her with toys, treats, anything she wanted. Until...she could no longer contact Paul.

From being in the mortal world for far too long, I had lost my memories of my identity and my abilities. I could no longer bring dead plants back to life or talk to spirits who passed by. So, Alex got angry and shoved me in the upstairs attic where I was left. Don't worry, I was still fed and clothed. A woman servant would bring me things I needed, and food of course. But that was all the interaction I had received for 9 years until one day I had received a weird dream.

Just to give context, as a child I would sleep walk constantly to the basement door. No one knew why. I would never dream. I dreamt entirely nothing as a child. But I always walked to that door. Every. Night. Then one night, I somehow walked past that door and made it down the stairs and reached the interior of the basement. I remember, very faintly, some man inside of a glass orb. I couldn't quite see what he looked like or figure out why he was there. Before I could go any further toward the man, I was whisked away by Alex who came rushing down the steps, yelling at me to get away from 'it'. Strange I would say. But I soon forgot about it as I assumed it was only a dream. After I was locked up in the attic, I could not sleep walk to the basement. Then that's when the dreams began. I dreamt of an angel every so often. A beautiful man who looked to be trapped somewhere. Somewhere I couldn't see. All I saw was his face and anguish. Years went by like this. I dreamt of only the same thing and I couldn't dream of anything else. I painted this angel. I had drawn this angel. I wrote about this angel. He plagued my mind and I couldn't understand why. I assumed I was the next Joan of Arc. Being plagued by visions of an angel---except, less cool since I wasn't leading a French army...nor was I a warrior. But still. This angel was the only thing keeping me from entirely losing my mind in my isolation.

Context over. The strange dream. This dream was not like the normal dreams that I would have. This one was more vivid, felt more real, and as if I was actually there. I was in some type of basement. It felt familiar. Before me I saw a pale man inside of a glass orb---wait...the angel? I think I know this place. I've been here before. To the right of me, I saw guards sitting at their desk. One reading a book and the other reading the newspaper. They didn't seem to see me. I attempted to walk towards the man inside the glass cage. To my surprise, he looked up. He could see me. We lock eyes. Intense. Heart pounding. Knees weak. Arms are heavy. Mom's Spaghetti (you get it). Anyways, I walk towards him. When I reach the glass, I can see clearly that it's the same man, or angel, that I have been dreaming about for years. The same angel who nearly made me think I was schizophrenic. I placed my hand on the glass. For whatever reason, I felt like I was pulled to him. A connection (soulmate trope you already know). The angel placed his hand in the same place where mine was. I wondered then, "Could I break the glass?" and tapped my index finger. Crack. Tap. Crack. Tap. Crack. Tap---my alarm went off and I woke up in my bed, in the attic.

Sorry, all of this is so long. I have so much lore and put so much detail into this script that I needed to share it with someone! Anyone!

But, yeah, after I had that dream, I will shift into this DR and that's when I help break Morpheus out of his cage and the adventure begins!

If you couldn't already tell, my s/o is Morpheus (Dream of the Endless). Our trope is soulmates (arrest me if you will).

Flipo con la gente que odia a Snape y mete luz de gas a personajes que son peores que él.

Tom Ryddle, Slytherin como Draco Malfoy, la propia Bellatrix... O sea, en Instagram encontré a una fanartista que tenía unas historias destacadas de "Anti Snape" diciendo que no dibujaba nazis. Tenia un post de Bellatrix, ella sola y con sus hermanas. Tenía otro de Draco con sus amigos de Slytherin, que vale, era con el uniforme de Hogwarts. Pero tanto Malfoy, como Crabbe y Goyle se unieron a los mortífagos.

Ahora he visto algunos post que lanzan luz de gas a Dolores Umbridge. Que Regulus y ella estaban enamorados y ella lo pasó muy mal tras su muerte... ¡Regulus se tira de la torre de astronomía antes de salir con una mestiza! Y Dolores creo que no amaba a nadie más que ella misma y a sus gatos.

Severus es malísimo por decirle a Hermione que no ve diferencia entre sus dientes hechizados y los normales pero a Umbridge le vamos a perdonar que no solo les hiciese moobing a sus colegas docentes y fuese abiertamente especista sino que además le perdonamos también que agrediese fisicamente y maltratase a un crío fe 15 años de forma repetitiva durante semanas. Ok.

En fin al final solo necesitan un villano y como asumir que a Severus no lo es implica entrar en conflicto con su visión de que los Merodeadores son héroes pues todo vale y todos valen menos el.

First I wanted to tell you how much I love Lionheart and how thankful I am that you are writing and sharing it with us. You really make my fridays better. Fiction has been such a refuge for me all my life, and it one of the things that brings me utter joy. Lionheart is that place of joy for me every friday and for that I don't have words to say gracias (spanish is my first language). I am leaving comments in AO3 every chapter, so I won't repeat myself. I just wanted to ask some thing that has been in my mind and see if you could share a light.

I've been reading Lionheart for the past 4 month, so maybe I forgot but has been say yet what role did Bellatix played in Lucius death? Your Narcissa is one of my favorite takes on her in all dramione and I've been wondering about her relationship with Bella. And with Andromeda. With her being a double agent like Snape I am DYING to see if we will have interactions with her and Sirius in the next book. Anything you can tell me about this would be much appreciated.

Also, I would pay money to read the interaction with Draco and Hermione from the last chapter in her POV.  When Draco tells her “That will be enough,” what was she feeling/thinking? I read it in two ways. In one hand -I heard Lucius so clearly- which is a feat in itself, because he has not appeared in the fic as a live character. That line is something that someone that had power and expects to be obeyed says. And it made Narcissa stop. On the other hand, I read it like her being aware of how much Draco has changed in the year that she hasn't been around him.  She now knows Hermione has an influence that she, as a mother away from his son for the better part of a year, can't compete with. Is that? Is she thinking something else?

I found so incredible the work you have done with how Lucius has influenced Draco with his absence. Mi nono (grandfather) died when my father was 10 years old, so I know all about then influence that mythical father figure can take in a young boy's mind and development. It's especially great with Draco. Did you planned that from the beginning? Is it something you wanted to explore? Thank you for your time!

As for the questions:

(1) Bellatrix's role in Lucius's death: Okay, totally understandable that this gets lost in the shuffle, because it comes up in Book 1 and there has been a lot of stuff since. Bellatrix kills Lucius in 1988, when Draco is 8, before she is caught and taken to Azkaban. Draco doesn't have most of the details there, because he was too young at the time-of and neither he nor his mother have been eager to discuss it since, but the implication from Book 1 is that it was related to Lucius finking after the war. It's noted by Draco and Dumbledore (Book 1, Chapter 9) that Lucius testified to the Wizengamot about his Death Eater activities and gave names in exchange for a shortened Azkaban sentence (five years) and a pardon for his wife. Draco doesn't know what those names are, but he does know that the Lestranges were responsible for his father's subsequent death, and it's why his mother has never brought up Bellatrix or tried to visit her in prison. This is also the LH-canon reason that Bellatrix and Rodolphus were caught — the Ministry opened an investigation into them after Lucius's death, leading to their ultimate capture a few months later (Book 1, Chapter 1, see Narcissa's line about "the aurors are doing all they can"; see also, Book 4, Chapter 48, "The Misfortune of Amos Diggory," where Mad-Eye references the manhunt and Draco names the exact date the Lestranges were captured, which he remembers, ostensibly, because he and his mother would have been among the first people told).

(2) Future Black family interactions: I can't tell!! All I can say is that Order of the Phoenix is the book that spends the most time with members of the Black family, and I intend to honor that.

(3) What Narcissa is thinking in the last chapter: I can't answer that — I leave that up to you as a reader to interpret!

(4) Planning from the beginning: Fatherhood, and parenthood in general, is one of if not the prevailing theme in the Harry Potter series. A work about an orphan almost inevitably ends up being about family, and how different families shape us, and when I was sketching out the plot, it occurred to me how much Draco was shaped by the shadow of Lucius in canon; I didn't want to get rid of that trait, because it's deeply tied to his character, but I also wanted to play with it. So I decided to make it a different kind of shadow. Without actually being there for most of Draco's childhood, Lucius transforms from a powerful but mortal human being into a mythic figure, a titanic predecessor that everyone goes to great pains to remind Draco he must embody and live up to from a very young age. That's why the prologue is sort of a thematic shot-across-the-bow: it establishes what drives Draco, where his grief comes from, and also how it's warped his character slightly even by the time we meet him that first year on the Hogwarts Express.

It also happens to highlight his relationship with Narcissa, which I haven't seen explored as often as his relationship with Lucius is — I've often seen fics either treat Lucius/Narcissa as a thematic unit (Disapproving Parental Figures, a classic) or focus on disapproval coming from Lucius, while Narcissa gets to be the soft/nurturing/reformist pureblood who's willing to compromise. Which is a fair interpretation based on limited source material — but also, she's a Black. Of the same generation as Andromeda and Sirius, both of whom she has shunned for her adult life. Her relationship to blood status and privilege and power is far, far more interesting/rich than her husband's, and her canon backstory involves quite a few more (admittedly, implicit) personal choices than Lucius's does. Narcissa gets more texture than Lucius ever does. I think killing Lucius allowed that texture to come to the fore in ways it couldn't if he were still alive and acting head of the family.
