Day 13 Scars

the amount of effort I had to put into these and they still don’t look how I want is frustrating but alas time is not on my side

Mikey: Gave Mikey Lichen Burns from that one time he got disintegrated and then reanimated via electricity. He died n got better and honestly it is one of the most violent injuries that I recall for him. Like he plays it off so easily cuz he has super powers and all that jazz but that’s so messed up. Also Raph yelling for him OOOFFFFF will never forget how filled w rage and hurt that dude was. He was ready to kill ❤️ Such a wild episode and I love how Mikey was so depended on in order for the plan to succeed. It was Mikey’s turn for the Self sacrificing bit and he crushed it

Leo: Get Shreddered idiot!!! The fucked up knee and throat from when he got beat up and thrown thru the window. This is def my fav event to happen which is a wild thing to say. It’s the most obvious thing to go for but I personally loved the farmhouse arc and Leo’s need for recovery. That dude is still not well and is repressing stuff but they don’t have time to heal. Their lives are too chaotic, too much is on the line, and Leo can’t afford to take the time to heal 100% none of them can tbh. I know a lot of ppl hate how 12 handled his knee injury but I loved it Bc it’s obviously not better but he’s a stubborn idiot who chooses to push everything down and out. He is the healthiest turtle for sure. I’m pretty sure in later episodes his knee gives out a few times don’t quote me tho it’s been a few years aha

Raph: His broken shell! After watching Lone Rat and Cubs and seeing where it came from, I always wondered if Splinter looks at it with loads of regret. A physical sign of his short comings that one time they almost got caught by the Kraang. A warning and a constant reminder they’ll never be safe, that splinter wont always be able to protect his babies no matter how hard he fights. I also like to HC he becomes the most hovering and overprotective of Raph while he’s still recovering Bc that shell broke so easy. Honestly seeing screen shots of close ups of Raphs shell is awesome to see both shell and plastron are broken.

Donnie: UGHHH THIS DUDEEEE !!!!! Literally had the hardest time Bc he goes thru a lot also but it’s more emotional and mental dude is fuked up in the head fr. I asked several ppl for help Bc I didn’t want to do another lichen burn thing from Karai’s trap. In the end I played around w the suggestions to see what would look most appealing to me. The scars on arm are from Slash (such a good episode thank you for the suggestion 🙌) as his arm was injured and in a sling at the end of the episode. The head scar def a big creative liberty Bc he does get injured there a lot ahah. I was thinking of Fourtrap again which lead to thinking about the time that Leo blew him up accidentally during is emo phase XD

Concept designs for Penguins and uhh tmnt crossover au moment

so uhh yeah i just did that. took me a while to get this done cuz i had some relatives over for the new years. btw HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE!! my goal for this year is to hopefully make fuller art pieces at least once a month (and finally get a job 😭)

anywayssss, heres the penguins!! who i still think abt everyday. ive decided these guys show up in literally any universe i want them to show up bc crossovers are always so fun. plus, not only does tmnt and the madagascar franchise have a lot of focus on new york but the penguins also completely mastered martial arts and the art of kicking people's asses on the daily so it honestly works. i think my turtles would enjoy their (chaotic) company even if it means watching them attempt to run over or dropkick an old lady.

and let's not forget, theyre both nickelodeon legends

i also adjusted my leo and raph designs cuz i felt they could look better. and look! theres the teen versions of raph and leo too. they really hit those growth spurts when they reached adulthood.. smth smth bayverse heights.

*Lil tidbit the noogie drawing.. I like to think Leo's the ONLY one who can noogie Raph bc he lets him. Raph acts like he hates it, and he does get slightly annoyed, but he likes it cuz Leo's brave enough to reach out and do that to him and it shows that he cares. Donnie and Mikey on the other hand aren't safe from both Raph and Leo though.

leo and krang are introduced to the audience in the same manner as they’re both shown to appear confident, cocky and arrogant.

leo’s ego coming from a place of recent victory from defeating the shredder and feeling on top of the world while krang’s is from a genuine belief that they are the superior being to all other life.

with this you have the overconfident defender and the prideful conqueror. neither able to see their flaws, with leo being lax about fighting and believing he’s in the right and the krang having a mindset that any mistake made was a rarity and impossible to repeat because the fact in their mind is that they’re better in every way.

in the beginning their motives are fairly similar, to win, to survive, to come out on top.

however after following defeat after defeat and experiencing pure loss of his family, the mindset that leo has changes and he realizes he’s been going about things wrong and and the goal isn’t to merely win, it is to protect his family and the innocent people around them.

and this mindset is what inevitably leads to the downfall of the krang because he repeatedly is unable to understand or the will that people have in protecting others and doing what it takes to survive and win out of love for family as they only strive to win for the desire to control and conquer, even going as far to think that their destruction of life is a gift and makes them a savior from weakness

which is why he mocks their idea of duty to protect others as he believes that all other beings should and will give up inevitably

“strength always prevails”

however he doesn’t take into account the turtle’s strength of will and their ability to use that ego and arrogance against him, which in turn, is what ends up being krang’s true weakness and leads to his defeat. bc he never would’ve thought that someone would’ve sacrificed themselves in order to win because such a concept never would’ve been considered by him in the first place.

because while both krang and leo strived to win and defeat, their ideas of it differed greatly. and because leo understood how his arrogance made him weak, he was able to discover how to make it into a strength by turning the krang’s own confidence against him.

Khaneko was a. Rough experiment. Donnie got a bit too ambitious, wanting his spawn to have many bells and whistles, and not allowing proper limb development bc of that. He also tried to add raptor DNA, but Khaneko is perfectly well adjusted, happily enjoying time with both of his dads. He's often in Donnie's lab for his health issues, and Ishida is always sure to cheer him up or spend time with him. Khaneko would like to become a dinosaur when he is older

Bacco & Bash (Michi)

Fun fact: they are not twins! Bacco is actually a gene copy of Bash, when Donnie assumed Bash would be still-born. So they're clones actually LMAO

But! These two are inseparable. They inherited Mikey's love for pranks, stunts, and the circus, and they're often seeing what things fire can burn, and how far you can fall before you break your legs, etc etc. Bacco is usually the one planning their stunts, and Bash is the one seeing JUST how deadly they are.

They do find time to spend with Kenichi though, who they consider their actual dad (Mikey is like more of a cool uncle). The twins adore theater, as Kenichi does, and they love making fun dramas with him or props. Bash also loves the stars like Kenichi, and gets very snippy at anyone who mixes up the big and little dipper

Momotaro (Rizu)

Momotaro takes his parent's quietness and takes it to 11. He has been raised to only speak if he has something nice to say, so he often only talks to Raph and Chizu LMAO. He likes to act way older/more mature than he is, often making him seem a bit too serious. He has inherited his mother's mystic prowess, being able to summon them for battle and company. her name is Kitsumi, she's 14-17, she's half yokai bc her daddy's a human and she's one of Big Mama's assistant/guards along side w/ Frida (yes that is I think her canon name and she's the turtle that's always with Big mama)

So, her lore is that her mom which isone of Big Mama's besties (since they both run entertainment businesses), didn't want responsibility to Kitsumi and sold her to Big mama. So, she could continue her Entertainment business plus wanted more money and soOo..... Big Mama took Kitsumi and Frida under her wing and raised them in a very healthy way and definitely not a brainwashing 'mother knows best' kinda way hihihi

Her tattoo is the result of her mystic powers that is summoning that silly little pink rushedn and un-welldrawn fox! She helps support Kitsumi in battle and kinda like a little pokemon

She's very inspired by Mizu from the blue eyed samurai, and also those Raiden shogun redesigns!!

Small thing: but I think the similarities between the Butterfly and Peacock also come from how they’re both brooches. Since the Miracle Box is so big, and there are more boxes besides that one, I can understand repeating jewelry types (necklaces and bracelets seem to be a common one), but since the Butterfly and Peacock are within the same “tier” (between the yin-yan and the zodiac) and being right next to each other in the box makes it way more obvious, not to mention that the villains got the only brooch jewels of the set.

I agree on all accounts! It really comes across like they made the powers up as they went. It's also super clear that the powers were designed based on what they wanted to do story wise and not around uniqueness. For example, an easy fix to the rabbit-horse problem is to make it so that the rabbit can't transport others, but then we can't do things like Chat Blanc and so the canon rabbit has to stay a better version of the horse. No wonder Kaalki is so obsessed with image! She must feel like she's always living in Fluff's shadow power-wise.

I'm also not surprised that there's some overlap with the miraculous' designs once we get to the zodiac miraculous (19 unique accessories is pretty hard to pull off and that's just the main box!), but you'd think that the original seven wouldn't have any overlap since they're clearly the starting point for it all design wise, meaning that they should have been given the most care. Then again, there's hard evidence that the peacock didn't exist as late as early drafts of Origins and it's the only one that feels derivative of the original set, so maybe it was just something that they threw together last minute.

Steve’s parents had never bothered with a pet, had never even thought about the fact that most kids got to have a dog or a cat or a turtle when they were young.

They didn’t think about how much Steve needed a companion of some kind.

It didn’t stop him from always playing with his friends’ pets, or stopping at the pet store after work sometimes to show some love to the ferrets nobody seemed to want. He volunteered at the animal shelter when he had time, always getting too attached to the dogs coming and going.

When he moved into a house with Eddie and Robin, they all agreed he could and should get a pet, as long as they could all agree on what it was beforehand.

The problem was, he knew he didn’t have time to commit to a dog, not with how often he was working and taking the kids where they needed to go and helping Eddie with his band. He knew Robin wouldn’t admit it, but being around cats for more than a few minutes left her stuffed up and teary-eyed. He didn’t really want fish, or anything that he couldn’t hold or cuddle with. Birds were out because they were loud and on his migraine days, even the tiniest hint of sound would make him nauseous.

He’d never even considered rabbits.

But on his way home from work on his birthday of all days, he passed a truck with a cage full of bunnies in the back.

He pulled over, not thinking about what he was doing, just knowing that he wanted to hold one.

Robin, who was in one psychology course at the community college, called it healing his inner child.

Eddie, who liked to get on Robin’s nerves as frequently as possible, called it being his inner child.

Steve, who loved them both very much, thought they were maybe both right.

“Can I hold one?” Steve asked the older woman who was sitting on the tailgate of her truck.

“Sure. You have any rabbits?” she asked as she grabbed one from the cage.

“No ma’am.”

“Lovely pets. Unfortunately, we didn’t know one of ours was a male and now we have about 22 of these suckers to get rid of. You got room for one?” she watched him carefully as he held the baby rabbit to his chest.

All of the rabbits were gray except for four, which were an off-white color with speckles of brown. Steve didn’t know how genetics worked, especially not for rabbits, but he knew they were unique.

“I got room for four.”

He didn’t.

Not really.

But he would make room.

The woman only charged him for two, said he was doing her a favor by taking four anyway. She gave him a bag full of some food pellets, but told him they would probably still prefer to get lettuce and other vegetables often.

“I guess I should think of some names,” Steve said out loud on the way home. “I should probably also warn you that I didn’t talk to Robin and your other dad about this yet. But they won’t mind. I can build you guys a home in the backyard! And during the winter, you can stay in the shed.”

He had it all planned out in his mind, and nothing would ruin it.

“Rabbits?” Eddie asked, surprised, but not quite as shocked as Robin.

“It’s four males. They’re still babies, but they grow quick. They’re pretty low maintenance, and they can live outside so you won’t have to worry about allergies or noise or anything. And they can eat a lot of vegetables and some fruit so I won’t have to spend tons of money on special food.”

Eddie cupped his cheek in his palm and smiled.

“You don’t have to defend your choice to us, sweetheart. If you’re happy, I’m happy,” he kissed him on the lips quickly before pulling away and giving Robin a look that said she better agree.

“I’m happy you found pets?” Robin said, still clearly unsure about it, but giving a genuine smile.

“Okay, now names!”

It only took five minutes for Eddie to excuse himself from that conversation to start working on their enclosure.

“Steve, you cannot name a rabbit Edward.”

“There are no rules when it comes to naming rabbits. If I want to name the one who doesn’t stand still after my boyfriend, then I will!”

It went on like that for nearly an hour as Steve took turns holding each of the rabbits, keeping them close to his chest and petting them, giving them all a little kiss on the head before he put them back in the box they were temporarily in.

Eddie came in not long after they finally settled on names, giving Steve a kiss on the cheek and grabbing a glass of water.

“So? What are their names?”

Steve picked them up one by one, showing them off as he spoke.

“This one is Marty, and this one is Hobbit, and this one is Bard, and this tiny little guy is Pierre. Robin insisted on it because the speckle on his face looks like a mustache and goatee.”

“I hate to say it, Stevie, but I don’t think I’m the father,” Eddie teased as he rubbed Pierre’s head.

Steve gently pushed Eddie’s chest, but smirked at him.

“Despite your best efforts, I don’t think actual children will be biologically possible for us,” he said as he put Pierre back in the box and picked the entire thing up. “Now, show me their home!”

Steve unzipped his jacket and a completely white rabbit shuffled around so it’s head was nestled further in his shirt.

“Sure, Stevie. Hi Frodo, welcome to our home. Rent’s due on the first, lettuce is available for free, and bath days are every other Saturday,” Eddie said quietly as he petted the rabbit’s back.

The first time the kids held the rabbits, Steve hovered like a worried parent.

“Just relax, love. They’re being careful,” Eddie whispered in his ear.

“I know. I just don’t want one to get loose and end up hurt or stuck somewhere,” Steve said, keeping his eyes on a constant rotation between all five rabbits.

“Can we feed them?” El asked with a beaming smile.

“Yeah, please!” Will said excitedly.

“Sure. But everyone only gets to pick one thing so they don’t overeat and get sick,” Steve agreed.

Eddie watched as Steve continued to hover, physically biting back comments about the way the kids were feeding them.

Eddie could sense his anxiety getting to a boiling point, knew he would probably explode in a minute if he didn’t intervene.

“Alright kids! Time for us to put the rabbits up for the night. They like to cuddle before they sleep,” Eddie said, reaching for the closest one to him, Bard.

They slowly put them all back into their enclosure, and Steve stood outside of it for a moment making sure they were all okay.

They were still a bit over excited from being out of the cage, all except Frodo, who had never been excited about anything.

“I’ll take the kids home,” Eddie said as he kissed Steve’s shoulder. “Staying out here for a bit?”

“Yeah, just until they calm down a little. Tell the kids I’ll see them tomorrow.”

Eddie nodded once and made his way back inside.

“Steve isn’t coming?” Max asked.

“Nah, he’s making sure the little ones behave. Everyone ready?”

The kids looked at each other, then back at Eddie.

“He’s making sure the rabbits behave? What are they gonna do, steal a carrot from the fridge?” Mike asked.

“Tone, Wheeler,” Eddie reprimanded. “And everyone leaves Steve alone about this, got it? He’s being his inner child.”

A chorus of “ew, gross!” rang out as the kids scrambled to run out the front door and to his van.

“I’m gonna be your problem if he gets sick from sitting out there in the cold too long.”

Rottmnt separated au where Leo (named Kappa) was raised as the next battle nexus champion n owner (in case anything happens to big mama) by big mama and he had to fight (literally and figuratively) for familial affection and peace his whole life. Then theres Reader who was abandoned by her parents the moment they found out about her ability to see into the future via dreams (which isnt as straightforward as it sounds- her visions span across multiple alternate timelines and they vary in time making it hard to understand and navigate), so they gave their small child to big mama (human version) and lil yn is forced to become a servant bc her powers are ultimately useless.

small yn is basically forced by the other employees to serve Leo bc none of em wanted to. Yn is scared and shy at first but then they kinda become friends (She even names him Leonardo bc its a very characteristic throughout her dreams and she thought it suit him) eventhough he has to hide it in public and pretend he doesnt gaf about the human because the other yokai would make fun of him and call him weak n pick on them. They basically grow up side by side, developing extreme loyalty to each other.

He's prissy and picky and an arrogant brat and hes possessive and caring and would protect yn with his entire being. He had to fight Big Mama for her to stay and not get kicked on the streets, making Big Mama send Leo on field missions as a punishment, making him take Yn with him, purposefully making her dead weight, but he always came out on top.

throughout the years Yn became very introverted and showed her true self only to leo bc that was her one and only safe place. They go on outings in the hidden city and run from the bellboys tryna catch them when BM finds out they snuck out.

The other turtles are all scattered.

Donatello is with Draxum, YN and Leo being the only ones that even call him Donatello. (Drax calls him Purple bc he's horrendous with names). He used to be a full on turtle mutant but because of Draxum training him until he was drained n tired asf there was a lab accident, making him half cyborg. His shell is now replaced with a deadly metal 'shell', one of his eyes is artificial, and eventhough he's trained in multiple weapons, he prefers using technology and working on war weapons making Big Mama and Draxum collaborate. Whenever there's a meeting both BM and Draxum would take their sons with them as 'theyre the succesors and should be there for future reference' though Leo thinks Big Mama wants to have a good image and show Draxum off by dangling something that she took from him right in his face. Well, if Leo's going, that automatically means YN is coming with him; he wont let her out of her periphery, wont make snatching his pet away from him easy for Big Mama. They basically met at those meetings, though they usually sent the younger ones elsewhere while the adults spoke of veery important things. Donatello absolutely hated YN at first bc she was human so him n leo almost fought, but YN, being a little familiar with Donnie from her dreams, started asking Donatello questions to appease him, making Donnie tolerate her (theyre working on extending that tolerance to all of humanity). Leo and Donnie's and Yn's relationship is on thin ice, but it is getting better- they visit don when theyre in the hidden city and help him with gathering materials from the overworld bc Purple wasnt allowed lol Loser. (they snuck him out and showed him the wonders of human tech though, once or twice.) Leo got his mystic weapon from Baron Draxum as a gift (eventhough he actually didnt want to give it. Donnie convinced him to do so because Drax had a fight with Big Mama and 'giving a gift to her son would show your utmost apologies and mend your business partnership') a way to get back into good graces w Big Mama and Draxum. Just business.

Raph (or Beast) is with the Foot Clan. He was raised very lovingly (bc they were prepping him for the shredder armor), and reveres shredder as his god bc while his parents may have 'loved' him, he was at the end of the day, just a tool to help shredder's revival (everyone in the clan thought so about themselves, they were veery cult like). Leo only knows of them bc he spotted them breaking into a mall while he was 'shopping' gifts for YN :3. he found them hilarious so he watched on as they struggled to fit Beast through multiple doors in the mall. The guy was huge, bigger than he was supposed to be. wtf were they feeding him?? Leo ofc records it and shows it to YN and she can deduce the future from her dreams and the way things r going irl and goes like oh shit this is bad lol we're fucked if someone doesnt do anything abt this and leos like will it hurt you? yn: yes. yes leo it will. leo: oh okay dw then yn ill steal it from them hehe. so he trolls the foot clan whenever he can just for funsies (Leo is also slightly insane n arrogant, so being a little shit comes naturally to him). Whilst he was stalking the top execs he comes across a binding ritual for two or more people. He watched and listened as it was explained thru a book. He stole the ritual book and read through it himself, coming up with an idea himself.

He brings the book to YN and tells her he wants to souldbond with her. (their relationship is like: i belong to leo and only leo but we're not dating n vice versa... like kiss alr smh.) A soulbond is an irreversible binding contract between two people, which allows them to communicate their intent just by their thoughts and solidifying their involvement with each other. It can only be broken if one of them dies. Yn agrees and they make the soulbond without any regrets. No one knows about it but Donnie, whose eye had strong mystic receptors iy already. Mikey is with Splinter, who felt so guilty of being unable to save mikeys brothers he unintentionally started neglecting Mikey and developed depression. He doesnt succeed at it very much and only represses his emotions until he cant anymore, and when that happens lets say the city had a few buildings to fix. Mikey stole the Kusari fundo from Draxum, and its his main weapon.

April, who has Mayhem as her pet, is trying to become a journalist, so she's always at the fights, writing stuff down and then publishing them. Her main way of staying safe is Mayhem's portals lol. She's been saved multiple times by Yn begging leo to give her mercy lol. None of the turtles rlly interact w her.

YN is very shy and closed off. She can be very calculative and manipulative if dhe wants to, making her the perfect s/o for leo, who can analyse a situation and come up on top with the best outcome, as well as pull any information out of anyone, violently or not. He needs constant praise. Leo has a short fuse, and Yn is his perfect match, always calming the situation down before it could make leo explode; she knows all his triggers and tells and weaknesses, as does he for her since they yknow, grew up together.

It's sooo interesting how much focus the show puts on hanks ptsd and anxiety, and directly mirrors it with Jesse. Who. Like. On a daily basis, witnesses and lives through, very similar and worse stuff.

Hank, until he himself kills tuco in s2, has a cruel and even joyful attitude towards crime scenes. He laughs about them, shares them with his family. Always as a way to hold up his masculinity. But then he kills tuco, and then has to deal with the ptsd of that. He has panic attacks, thinks he's being attacked in his home when his poorly sealed craft beer bottles explode, and just barely survives the tortuga explosion bc the sight of a dead man's head on a turtle gives him another anxiety attack, which in turn exposes him to even more death and his colleagues losing limbs. He tries to keep up his toxic masculinity facade after that, and clings to it, but we do see his change starting there. I'm not well versed on the later seasons, I just know that the time he is bed bound give him some more time to both let out all his horribleness, and to become better at his job. He shows us a pretty realistic reaction to all the horrible situations he's being thrust into. All while having a pretty stable home life and loving family.

Jesse meanwhile. Jesus that boy needs so many hugs.

He kills a man and dissolves him in acid in the very first episodes. He keeps getting beat up, bad enough that he has to be treated at the hospital. He has an already fractured relationship to his parents, which is why he stays at his aunts place, whom he took care of before her death from cancer. Which is likely why he accepts to work with Walter. To help him. And he keeps being confronted with excessive violence and death, while his situation keeps getting worse, so he finds himself bound to Walter. He has literally no security net. All his friendships are conditional, and based on drugs. It's a vicious circle. No one to process his feelings with, so he turns to the drugs. To forget, to numb. Etc. Everywhere he turns there is more rejection, conditional relationships, and so much violence.

And just. That one moment in s2. After hank thinks he's being attacked in his own home, and nearly shoots marie, directly followed by Walter arriving at Jesse's home with the gun, to 'take care' of the junkies who stole from them... which is again followed by way more and more horrible violence. With the kid Jesse keeps trying to protect and parent while he's there... it just hit a very very soft spot in me. Someone please take care of Jesse. Someone cook him a meal and tug him into bed. Give him 6000h of therapy and a stable home. Give him 2,5 friends (or more) who just like him and want to hang out with him.
