premise — you know those beach arc in a 12-episode shoujo anime? make it with the ip3o !!
characters — aventurine, topaz, and ratio
tags — established relationship, fluff, not proofread, 0.6k words ; headcanons
note — just something quick which i wrote in the beach yesterday before my phone wanted to become a fish and dived into the ocean !! probably not that accurate to their character but hey i just wanted to have fun
AVENTURINE who will write your name in the sand, only to have it being washed away by the ocean’s wave the moment he shows it to you. The dejected look on his face as he watches his effort being flattened and smoothened into sand will just make you want to kiss him (he’s just so kissable no matter what he does).
AVENTURINE who will stay up all night listening to the waves and watching stars with you. He’ll set up a small tent for the both of you to stay in as you wait for the sun to set and the sky to cast its dark blanket to reveal the stars that are waiting to be seen. It’s such a pretty sight, something that you will forever engrave in your mind, but he’s there spending most of his time looking at you before the stars; he ended up missing the shooting star that passed by.
AVENTURINE who will collect pretty seashells with you. He’ll look out for them while he’s on his own and will choose the ones he thinks you’ll love—seemingly seeking your approval, he’ll show the shell to you with expectation drawn in each breath. He adores the look on your face when you get so excited over something small and simple.
TOPAZ who will build play in the sand and build sandcastles with you, along with Numby who’ll watch by the sidelines like a curious cat to their busy owner. You two, in collaboration, would either end up with the tallest and most majestic sandcastle ever made or the most horrendous piece ever seen by mankind—there’s no in between. Bonus points if it also gets washed away by the wave.
TOPAZ who will drag you anywhere and everything. She will take you to several and various locations whether it be a hidden spot with a nice view which she found while she was out walking (she’ll steal a kiss from you once knowing that there’s nobody around) or to areas that are bustling with activities that the both of you can participate in.
TOPAZ who’s probably the most active person you’ll see at the beach. One minute she’s playing volleyball, the next she’s out making kites fly, then the next you’ll see her, she’s setting up the bonfire for later night or either talking with the locals. Best believe that she’ll spend her evening just by your side, leaning against your form in silence as she tries to recover her energy—which would probably just lead to her falling asleep beside you.
DR. RATIO who will most likely spend his time sunbathing or staying away from the water—he wouldn’t want his book to get wet, would he? Although he brings his book during his baths, the ocean is quite unpredictable compared to the still waters of his bathtub. Sometimes, the tide would come in slow and gentle like a mother’s lullaby but it would be followed by a body-slapping wave that would drag you away from the shore.
DR. RATIO who will wake you up early just for the sunrise because he learned that the view would be a lovely sight—also, because he thinks you might like it. He’ll gently guide you through the sand as you force your eyes open, drowsiness still in your gaze and the way you slowly walk to not stumble in your steps; he’ll hold your hand the whole time and you’ll watch the sunrise with him in silence of the cold morning.
DR. RATIO who will look after you and watch you always. He wouldn’t let the opportunity to say something (scold you or tell you off) pass by, however. Most likely would pull something like, “You’re cold, aren’t you? If so, that’s your own problem.” then would proceed to place a jacket or towel over your shoulder.

When mediocrity meets the supremacy - veritas ratio
Where the Doctor narrows his eyes at the trailblazer for stealing his partner's attention.. ~700 words, SFW (not necessarily connected, but read part 1!
AU where reader followed the trailblaze before quitting to pursue further studies in various fields of science with Dr. Ratio himself in the Intelligensia Guild. (Might not be entirely lore accurate, trailblazer doesnt go to Belobog)
Your mind brings you back to the soft swishes of water during your bath with you beloved. it had been almost 5 system hours since the last few drops of bathwater went down the drain, small petals being the only thing that signified your intimate rendezvous with the Doctor himself.
You shake your head, forcing yourself to pull away from the sweet, dream-esque scene. You find yourself struggling to focus on the task at hand, the smug face of Vertitas Ratio plastering itself all over the wals of your mind like the "WANTED" posters all over belobog's brick walls you saw during the journey to Jarilo VI with your old friends.
Speaking of the trailblazers, you had planned a small gathering with the Astral Express members in the evening, since they were visiting. You had yearned to see the faces of Marth 7th, Dan Heng, Himeko, Welt, even Pom Pom. You've heard from March that there had been a new member of the Astral Express, going by Caelus. Judging from March's bombarding texts of photos and videos, he seemed to have a quite....eccentric personality, but bore a kind expression nonetheless.
You'd adequately dressed yourself up after returning to you and Dr. Ratio's humble home, opting to switch to a fancier outfit. It was a speical occasion, after all. You loosely linked your arm around Veritas' very reluctant arm, walknig towards the round table where the members were sat.
"It has been a while, hasn't it?" Himeko addressed your name, and drifted her eyes to the grey-haired trailblazer to the opposite of you. Dr. Ratio narrowed his eyes, you slightly nudged him to get rid of that old habit, hard enough to get a small grunt out of him.
"Say, Trailblazer. How has the Astral Express been treating you?" You asked, watching as the gears slowly spun into action in his head, almost as if someone was controlling him through a game screen.(teehee)
"Well..I've been through lots of unforgettable journeys with the Astral Express, and they've shown me much care in a...familial way."
You nod your head, satisfied at the answer before you. You reminisce about your days spent on the Express. Whether it be happy or hurtful, significant but sad. A clink of the wine glass drew everyone at the old-fashioned western-styled restaurant's attention.
"Come on! Won't a handsome man just come up and sing along to this song with me?!"
The woman dragged Caelus' arm towards the center stage, handing him a hat. He gracefully donned it on his head as you watched in admiration. Since Caelus was younger than you, you had an almost...motherly love to him. But Veritas didn't seem to take it that way.
You clapped along to the rhythm of a song sang by the singing duo - composed of a random woman, and the newest member of the Astral Express. The soda bottles hopped in joy as the trailblazer returns to his seat. Ah, a livehouse, I see.
Throught the scene, Ratio's eyes trailed alongside your movements; every captivating smile, every clap sent to the trailblazer, every whoop or cheer sent to him, every---
Graphs and charts were buzzing about in his mind. His analytical brain was working at full speed. "What made him to be so charming when it was me that needed to be appealing?!" No amount of data or statistics could account for how much love he had for you in his heart, yet he couldn''t show it, and you were about to be taken away by--
"Veritas? Are you alright?" He had awoken to your soft touches on his face. He'd abruptly sat up on the bed that he once laid on. Pause. An epiphany occured in his mind, "You...the party...!" He tried to compose himself, yet his drunk-dazed (teehee) mind wouldn't cooperate. "The party went greatly, dear! Half the time, you were zoned out, just staring at some random poster about Robin and Sunday!"
Veritas' eyes widened. "I didn't say anything....preposterous, did I?"
"Well...only something about wanting me to be your super private secretary, and only yours-" "Ridiculous! Utterly absurd!"
Putting on his alabaster head, facing away from you. Looks like the Doctor won't be able to admit to his jealousy...

hurt comfort prompt:
zoro doesn’t understand why the cook is so skinny
he is the gym freak so he’s always helping the crew build muscles - but with sanji he just stays the same?
he also questions why sanji chooses to do smaller workouts for muscles he hasn’t even heard of
chopper does know all the medical records of the crew- he knows the limits and can be upset when it’s ignored-
sanji always has to check up with chopper because his body - while he takes care of it- can break easily
zoro gets annoyed by this and try’s to confront him- he’s confused and mistakes this as him holding back (kunia flashbacks similarity)
pop- zoro has unintentionally dislocated sanjis shoulder and promptly freaks the fuck out- 1 he would never hurt the crew intentionally that is actually HURTING the crew- ie sanjis hand to should ratio is always off limits
anyway sanji is used to this- while he is more careful about his arms it still makes him upset
they cool off for a bit away from each other. zoro comes back to help apply kt tape and they talk
sanji explains that even though he is strong. strong enough to fight zoro and others- doesn’t mean he doesn’t have limits. even now- he cant feel them since wci so he needs to be more careful
everytime he gets hit- yeah he doesn’t feel it- or his body fixes itself now- doesn’t mean it’s good. his joints and muscles suffered damage when he was younger- his body isn’t magically 100% at most it’s a solid 60% and even with the regeneration he needs to be careful.
each time it happens he can feel a shift. he can feel a slight change- he isn’t as accurate, a slight tremble turns into a noticeable one on a bad day
he explains this and how even zoro himself should look into more then main muscles- that he looks out for the crew the best he can in diet but there’s only so much he can do
it’s why he does yoga and pilates with the girls (franky and brooke too)
he does resistant training with luffy
he doesn’t over exert himself on one training method or anything else- he takes his time because that’s what he needs
zoro learns all this and after helping sanji apply tape and stretch he fucking dissapears for a week (how on a ship he will never know)
zoro comes out a week later having read 10 books on anatomy and exercise methods (5 from chopper and 2 from robin ans 3 from sanjis collection)
zoro is still a drill sargent in the gym but he curates his workouts more- he talks to sanji about what the crew needs. heck he has meetings with sanji and chopper about keeping the crew healthy and top shape
zoro corners sanji in the bath later and he sees this as him being the most vulnerable just like sanji opening up to him
so he opens up about not only wanting to be the best because of his promise but because he cares for the crew that death is too unkind and quick and he wants to make sure everyone is safe, ready and able
sanji kicks him for corning him the bath of all places but understands
he opens a bit about how he was raised how he sees things and in that moment something just kinda clicks in his head and instead of freaking out it’s just a long groan of “wow how did i only notice now”
and he’s like welp whatever i guess then kisses zoro and idk they have sex you choose wink

My source memories of Dr. ratio as a Aventurine fictive Bath time : Ratio and I would take alot of baths together, they would always be bubble baths with rubber ducks. He would usually be reading while in the tub and I wasn't allowed to splash around as to not get his book wet. He would sometimes wash my hair for me. Reading : Ratio taught me how to read when he found out I didn't know how. He would keep me at a desk repeating the same paragraph over and over until I would get it right, he would end up rewarding me with food/a meal after each lesson. Lore : Ratio pretty much took me in like a wet sad looking dog you found on the side of the street. Housed me, clothed me, fed me, ect. He knew of my connections to the ICP and eventually found out about my past and me being a slave due to his own research, but it never changed his behavior towards me and he never seemed to care all that much. Chalk : He would sometimes throw chalk at me when I "misbehaved" or whatever, it HURT. He has scary accurate aim so he never missed, even when I was actively trying to evade his attacks. Physical appearance : He was very well built, muscular. His skin tone was more tan than he appears in game and the gold/yellow in his eyes was alot more noticeable. Ratio wore his glasses alot more as well, mainly for reading or looking over documents and usually had them on him.

I built the Tsukino house in the Sims 4! It's not 100% accurate and some things weren't quite possible the way they're supposed to look, but aside from that I'm pretty happy with it. 🙈 I mostly used floor plans from the Sailor Moon Wiki as inspiration as well as some of the 90s anime episodes.
Front view (I might still adjust the windows above the living room on the left because they look quite different from the anime. The ratio between the left and the right half of the house are a bit off, but I'll leave it as-is for now)
More pictures under the cut.
Back view (I added a backyard with a pool because there was so much space left.)
First Floor view (Genkan area, garage with washer-dryer, staircase, living room, dining area, small greenhouse, kitchen, access to backyard, bathing/shower room, laundry hamper and toilet)
Second Floor view (Guest bedroom with balcony access, Usagi's parents' bedroom, Shingo's bedroom, Usagi's bedroom, toilet)
Usagi's Bedroom view (The wallpaper doesn't match the one from the anime but I thought it's cute and fits for her.)
I made the lot a vacation rental lot, since my Usagi Sim and Haruka Sim live in a different house already. I ended up not adding the attic where Chibi-Usa sleeps in the SuperS arc, but maybe I will at some point.
Also, I'm just now realizing that I could have turned off the grid while taking pictures, but I forgot. 🤦🏻♀️
Anyway, like I said, it's not perfect but I like it anyway. 😋

More thoughts, this time from the trailer directly:
Herta begins by telling us most of the Genius Society members are gone due to Member 4, Polka Kakamond. We're told she killed many of them (said by Herta when interacting with her portrait in Herta's office). Herta then expresses a faux(?) joy at a meeting with who I assume is Ruan Mei? I think it's sarcastic, mostly because of how she says "Oh? Look who's here."
We haven't met a lot of Genius Society members, but it's rather telling that many of them don't have close relationships to each other with Herta herself said to be "very sociable compared to the other odd hermits of the Genius Society" (via Data Bank -> Herta (Character)). I wouldn't be surprised if there was friction between Herta and Ruan Mei; between the two of them, Herta has little interest in anything beyond the scope of what she wants to research, and Ruan Mei seems entirely devoted to her own research. They've come together to collaborate on the Simulated Universe, but people work together on projects all the time and can still have distain for their coworkers.
Although it is also very possible Herta is talking about someone or something else.
When Ruan Mei shows up, she says "It's crucial to mask your expression until you've ascertained the situation. If not... you'll be full of weaknesses that others can see through." With the last line, she seems to smile and then turn her head away, the camera angle cropping out her eyes. Of course Ruan Mei hides herself behind a mask. I don't think she does it maliciously, rather it's a way to help distance herself further from everyone else. She seems a bit out of touch with everything in the Myriad Celestia trailer. Likely, she grew up feeling lonely, and sought her own self-isolation as a way to further her goals.
Dr. Ratio's line, "Do try to think for yourself." He's so annoying, and I love that. I think he's someone who asks a lot of questions to help lead you to in the direction of the right answers, rather than outright telling you what the answer is... he must be fun at parties. I'd expect he's pretty good with young kids though I really can't think of many circumstances where he'll go out of his way to interact with children.
Augh. I'm so happy with Dr. Ratio and Ruan Mei being in the same patch posing as counters between the Genius Society and Intelligentsia Guild. What's the point of being a genius if you work in a vacuum? The Intelligentsia Guild values the sharing of knowledge across the cosmos, and without that mindset, how could the universe band together at all? Of course information is important. So how do you feel about who gets to have it?
There's value in more people being able to contribute to the wealth of knowledge by building on each other's research, and isn't that the spirit of research itself? So many things would be impossible without collaboration. But how do people, like Herta, directly benefit from sharing their research, when their time could be spent on more personally valuable tasks? And besides, many things could go wrong by making the "wrong" information publicly available when there are always people working in bad faith. All kinds of questions arise when you compare the two factions. I think people should come to their own answers about them, and decide why they prefer one over the other.
Anyways, story stuff! "The gods of the starry skies have abandoned the world. Only the wounded savior can bathe the world in the firelight of Destruction. No matter the distance, Annihilation will find you!" Let's break this down.
Gods of the starry skies would be Aeons, the closest entities we know of that would be considered divine.
Rather than abandoning the world, it's be more accurate to say they exist in a dimension of space that's separate from the rest of the universe. They doesn't seem to exist on the same plane as everyone in the rest of the game.
It seems like Asta's been possessed? Girl is going through it.
The wounded savior... unless we're being introduced to some other Destruction-aligned character, I'm going to guess the speaker is referring to the Trailblazer.
"Only" is a curious word to use here. Is there nobody else to sow destruction across all of the cosmos? Maybe this is another factor in "fate's" design.
Whoever is speaking might be from the Annihilation Gang. I'm literally just connecting the dots from "Annihilation" being capitalized in the subtitles and the Annihilation Gang as a faction following the Path of Destruction.
The image of Nous at the end... Nous is searching for the answers to everything in the universe. In a more contextual sense, Nous would be an Aeon said to "abandon the world" upon their ascension, having left the world altogether.
A lot of lore gets dropped in Simulated Universe. Since we're going back in time with SU to a time focusing on the circumstances of Emperor Rubert I, I suppose we're getting parallels to Nous (both being supercomputers) and, what I'm more interested in, the circumstances that allowed Nanook to ascend as an Aeon. The timeline comes together more cleanly when you begin to piece all the history between the Aeons and when things happened relative to each other.
Since the 1.6 update is approaching us, here are my thoughts from the latest livestream!
Huge fan of the recent livestreams featuring the characters (rather than the voice actors) bringing us the news. It makes everything feel so much more immersive and highlights the whole "This program is brought to you by the Interastral Peace Corporation" thing.
As for the upcoming update... Critter Pick looks like it'll be a fun event! It'll be a good way to explore the new areas of Herta Space Station, too. I wish we could keep them as permanent pets; if the Trailblazer unlocks their own room on the Astral Express one day, we could keep the critters as an event memento.
Looking forward to new additions to the Simulated Universe as well. I haven't finished everything about the Swarm yet (mostly because of how time-consuming it is to grind through SU), but having more things to do in-game will make sure I'm never out of options for things to do, I suppose.
I don't particularly care about the new optimizations to Forgotten Hall. My RNG on artifacts is trash, so it's not like the optimizations really help me out. They're more so for players who play by the meta and actually clear all the stages.
The most exciting part of the special program would probably be Sunday as our final special guest. I'm hyped for Penacony! For a number of reasons, but mainly because of the various factions we'll get to see interact with each other. Stories (whether they're events or permanent content) that feature characters from different regions and/or factions crossing roads are always fun! I hope it's like the Genshin events where characters from all kinds of different nations got together in the same scenes, like Hues of the Violet Garden (the Inazuma poetry event from 2.6), the Perilous Trail Archon Quest (ft. the Chasm), Summertime Odyssey (on the islands in 2.8), Windblume's Breath (revisiting Mondstadt's Windblume, 3.5)... you get the idea.
Conceptually, Penacony and The Family sound pretty noteworthy. It's giving cult-like vibes, and something about Sunday feels inherently suspicious, especially in the way he speaks and presents himself.
Penacony/The Reverie as a place "where one may travel freely between reality and Dreamscape"... well, Penacony is the Land of Dreams. It's a place that only exists as a dream, "where time forever stands still" (Data Bank -> Relics; Penacony, Land of Dreams). There's an underlying cruelty to being such a place where everything is in a sense stagnant like that, and I hope the game embraces that wholeheartedly. I'm curious to see how they'll try to approach the themes of "dreams" and "time".
Key players from Penacony are the are five great families and The Reviere - it's possible we won't get to see representatives from all of the families, similar to how we stuck to the Xianzhou Luofu while visiting the Xianzhou Alliance. The representatives we'll definitely see are, according to the livestream:
Sunday (?)
Robin (possibly from the same family as Sunday; hard to say, as she could be referred to as "sister" to keep up the notion of being a Family or as a sign of affection/a close relationship, though she also has wings like Sunday so who knows)
Misha (from The Reviere)
Firefly (from the Iris Family)
Gallagher (from the Bloodhound Family)
From the guestlist, some speculations:
Duke Inferno is going to be someone to pay attention to. The Annihilation Gang isn't the Antimatter Legion, but it does follow Nanook, and anything involving Nanook is going to demand our attention. Besides, he's probably going to be involved in the source of our upcoming conflict what with planning on wrecking chaos in Penacony - so he thinks, "Penacony will just be another pitstop along the way [on the pilgrimage to Destruction]" (Data Bank -> Relics; The Ashblazing Grand Duke). Probably not playable.
Likewise, Stellaron Hunter Sam has to be important... I wonder how much his IPC bounty is. Elio probably told him to go to Penacony, but I wonder why Sam instead of anyone else.
Adventurine? My. IPC representation is always fun. I hope he interacts with the Trailblazers, and that we get more information about Qilpoth from him (though that's rather unlikely). During the cutscene where we fought Cocolia, we obtained Alisa Rand's lance while Qilpoth drew their hammer and seemed to draw their gaze at us. It's possible the Trailblazer is an emanator, but you could argue otherwise too. I'm looking forward to seeing what the IPC thinks about that, if the Trailblazer really is an emanator of Preservation, or Destruction, or anything at all.
Not much to say on Dr. Ratio. He'll be there.
Garden of Recollection memokeeper Black Swan... hey, I wonder if we'll get a reference to the Messenger on the Astral Express, since she's from the same organization.
Sparkle, representing the Masked Fools... I love the Masked Fools, they're so goofy. She's probably here to have a good time, shake up chaos, and be on her way.
Acheron from the Galaxy Rangers? We'll get to see more from another side of Lan's followers.
A bunch of the upcoming characters look interesting. I'm not invested in most of the characters, mainly because their fits look... super uncomfortable. That's a me thing, I don't care about most characters unless their lore piques my interest or I vibe with their outfits. Characters I am interested in, however, and expect to be playable:
I'm partial to Ruan Mei, she seems promising! I do wish that she wore a lab coat, she would absolutely pull it off and it would bring out the scientist part of her character more. (Nobody in this universe seems to care about lab safety with how much skin some of these characters show.)
Sunday for sure. His personality is serving... something. I don't know, I like his voice though. And the wings!
Aventurine looks cute... that's about it. His interaction with Topaz strike me as kinda funny. I want to see more from IPC coworkers, especially when Diamond gets introduced in more depth.
Sam, because mechas go hard, and I want to collect all the Stellaron Hunters.
For the same reason, I'm going to grab Elio (and Kafka on her rerun; skipped for Blade and I already had Jing Yuan to fill the same meta-niche).
Screwllum is a maybe. He's a mecha, but his personality is kinda ehhh for me.
Dr. Ratio! I'm glad he's going to be free. I'm not a fan of the right side of his outfit or his animations and wouldn't feel very happy pulling for him even though I want him. They picked an odd place to show skin and it doesn't really mesh well with the rest of his design. His attack animations are funny but rather boring and there's not much going on. As a character, I genuinely love how obnoxious he sounds. Judging by the 1.6 livestream he and Herta have Beef(TM) for sure... or that might be a Genius Society vs Intelligentsia Guild thing. Either way, it's bound to be interesting.
Misha's cute. His hair looks cute. I hope his personality will be cute, too.
Maybe Robin, if her dress doesn't look too plain. She's a superstar and she'll be singing for us at the festival! Perhaps we'll get a dedicated cut scene, music video, and song sung by her.
They're mostly guys. That's within my expectations. I don't have much investment in a lot of the female characters so far, to be honest. I like March (it's hard not to care about her), the Stellaron Hunter girls, Sushang and Bailu, and everyone else is fine. They're there, they help flesh out the world, but I'm not particularly attached to any of them. I guess you could say the same thing about a substantial portion of the cast in general...
Anyways, these are my thoughts. Looking forward to version 1.6 and hope everyone wins their 50/50s!

■ About
Nippon Ichi Software will release Shin Hayarigami 3 for PlayStation 4 and Switch on July 29, 2021 in Japan.
Shin Hayarigami 3 is the third entry in the “urban legends” horror adventure series Shin Hayarigami, which incorporates the gameplay systems of previous entries while further evolving the presentation of horror.
For the first information release, we will introduce the basic gameplay systems and characters.
■ The Latest Entry in the Shin Hayarigami Series
Shin Hayarigami is a horror adventure series that revolves around urban legends. While following the basic gameplay systems of previous entries, terrifying and mysterious incidents closely connected to urban legends await again players in Shin Hayarigami 3.
■ Further Evolved Presentation of Horror
In Shin Hayarigami 3, the presentation of horror is further evolved. In addition to the cut-ins and CG images from previous entries, CG images now move, allowing players to experience the vivid horror as if they were actually there.
■ Mysterious Cases Where “Urban Legends” Become Reality
Urban legends… a never-ending game of telephone that involve several hundreds of thousands to several millions of people.
A friend of a friend. An acquaintance of an acquaintance. A creepy story told by someone suspicious.
In most cases, these stories are no more than fiction…
But in the Shin Hayarigami series, the story begins when a mysterious, “urban legend”-like incident actually occurs…
The Woman in the Crevices
An urban legend where a woman with a flimsy body enters the crevices in the walls and furniture, and motionlessly stares at you. It is a relatively major urban legend, and similar rumors are said to have existed since the Edo era.
Human Stew
An old man living alone unfortunately died while bathing in reheated bath water. Days later, when a friend who discovered his corpse touched the old man’s remains, it crumbled and the bathtub became like stew…
Demon Doll
Dolls ae common toys enjoyed by many. Therefore, there are many urban legends surrounding dolls, from puns to famous ghost stories such as “Mary-san.”
Ryoumen Sukuna
The story of Ryoumen Sukuna is both a folk tale and an urban legend. The urban legend Ryoumen Sukuna is a two-headed mummy with several limbs discovered when demolishing an old temple, where the people involved experienced mysterious illnesses or unforeseen incidents one after the other.
■ Science or Occult? Use Different Approaches to Determine the Truth
Like previous entries in the series, in Shin Hayarigami 3, the latter half of each case branches into either a scientific route or occult route depending on how you choose to investigate. Was it a human who caused the incident? Or was it a monster beyond human comprehension? Whichever stance you take, you will be able to approach a resolution to the case either way.
But if you want to determine the truth of a case, you must look at it from both a scientific and occult perspective.
■ Become a Detective and Pursue Mysterious Cases
The protagonist is Saki Houjou, a detective who works in G Prefecture. In addition to fellow detective Sena Aizen, who became Saki’s partner in Shin Hayarigami 2, detectives Shinarou Niimi and Masaomi Kouketsu, formerly of the First Investigation Division, join the team to pursue mysterious, “urban legend”-like cases.
■ Characters
Saki Houjou
Age: 27
The protagonist. She was previously with the S Prefectural Police, but after her involvement in the “Blindman Case,” she was transferred to G Prefecture by transfer order and joined the newly established “Special Investigation Unit.” In the past, she was unable to stop a tragedy beyond her depth, so she stands against the mysterious cases that continue to occur as not to let that happen again.
Sena Aizen
Age: 25
Born and raised in G Prefecture, he is a hot-blooded young man who loves his hometown. His delinquent-like appearance and behavior have isolated him from others. While he is bad with women, he was assigned to the Special Investigation Unit with Saki Houjou, and has built up a strong level of trust through the numerous cases they resolved as her partner. As someone well-versed in urban legends, he is generally in affirmation of the occult.
Shintarou Niimi
Age: 32
The most talented detective in the G Prefectural Police. An elite who graduated at the top of his class at The University of Tokyo Faculty of Law, he looks down on others, but has sincere respect for his partner and senior co-worker Masaomi Kouketsu. He is in direct denial of urban legends and the occult, and has a “water and oil”-like relationship with Sena Aizen. In Shin Hayarigami 3, he joins the Special Investigation Unit along with Masaomi Kouketsu, and gets stuck taking on mystery cases.
Masaomi Kouketsu
Age: 41
An untalkative veteran detective who boasts a high crime-arrest ratio with Shintarou Niimi. He places great emphasis on his old-school ways of investigating and obtaining information in the field. He has a strong obsession with tracking down the culprit of every difficult case. In Shin Hayarigami 3, he joins the Special Investigation Unit along with Shintarou Niimi and takes on mystery cases.
Mitsuko Kisaragi
Age: 37
A talented owman with a doctorate in a wide range of fields, not just forensic medicine. Although an expert in forensic investigation, she has deep knowledge of the occult, perhaps because she comes from a shrine family. She is a key player in the Special Investigation Unit, as she analyzes the information obtained by Saki Houjou and the others both scientifically and occultically, and advises them.
■ Fate Changes Based on Your Decisions
During investigation scenes, protagonist Saki Houjou and partner Sena Aizen will investigate and collect the information necessary to resolve the case.
Shin Hayarigami 3 also adds the duo Shinarou Niimi and Masaomi Kouketsu to your team, allowing you to obtain information about the choices you did not make.
—Saki and Sena investigate your choices.
—The choices you do not make will be investigated by Shintarou and Masaomi.
■ Self Question
A “Self Question” occurs at key points in the story, in which you ask yourself questions and sort out the events and all the facts you have thus far. The results of a Self Question can change the development of the storyline that follows and become an important turning point in the story.
■ Courage Points
“Courage Points” are necessary in situations that demand courage or when making important decisions. If you run out of Courage Points, you will not be able to make decisions at important times, but if you just let them build up, you may be driven into a corner. Take action in a calculated manner.
■ Liar’s Art
Not everyone involved in the mysterious incidents tell the truth as it happened. There may be situations where Saki must use her specialty psychology technique “Liar’s Art” to manipulate lies and throw them off balance in order to draw out the truth from those who conceal it or lie. By throwing out the right words within the time limit, you will shake up your opponent and reveal their true intentions.
The “Liar’s Meter” displays the opponent’s emotional changes. By making a choice that shakes the opponent, the meter will rise, and it will be easier to reveal their true intentions. If the Liar’s Art ends with the meter low, the situation worsens, but if it ends with the meter high, you can more easily reach the truth in the developments that follow.
■ Deduction Logic
“Deduction Logic” is a function that creates a correlation diagram of those involved in the case by applying keywords. Keywords can be acquired by proceeding with the investigation, and the more accurate the diagram, the closer you are to approaching the truth of the case.

TAFAKKUR: Part 242
MUSLIM CONTRIBUTIONS TO MATHEMATICS: Part 2
Abu Kamil (about 850–930), an Egyptian mathematician, wrote the Book on Algebra which consists of three parts:
(1) Solutions of quadratic equations,
(2) Application of algebra to geometry,
(3) Diophantine equations.
He improved the work of Khwarizmi and applied algebraic methods to geometry. His research was on quadratic equations, multiplication and division of algebraic quantities. His work also includes addition and subtraction of radicals. He found the following formulas:
ax.bx=abx2; a(bx)=(ab)x; (10–x)(10–x)=100+x2–20x
Abu Kamil also wrote the Book On Surveying and Geometry, which was intended for government land surveyors. There, he stated the nontrivial rules for calculating areas, volumes, perimeters, and diagonals of different objects in geometry
Ibrahim ibn Sinan (908–946), a grandson of Thabit bin Qurra, was both an astronomer and a mathematician. Fuat Sezgin writes, "He was one of the most important mathematicians in the medieval Islamic world." He studied geometry, and his work on calculation of the area under the graph of a parabola is especially appreciated. Going further than Archimedes, he introduced a more general method of integration.
Abu Bakr ibn Muhammad ibn al-Husayn al-Karaji (953–1029), also known as al-Karkhi, is regarded as the first person to have developed algebraic operations without using geometry. One of his major works was Al-Fakhri fi'l-jabr wa'l-muqabala (Glorious on algebra). Historian Woepcke recognizes Al-Fakhri as the beginning of the theory of algebraic calculus. Here, al-Karkhi introduced the monomials x, x2, x3, ... and 1/x, 1/x2, 1/x3, ... and explained product rules among them. Moreover, he was the first to find the solutions of the equations ax2n+bxn=c. Al-Karkhi proved the sum formula for integral cubes by using the method of proof by induction, and hence became the first to use this method.
Abu'l Hasan ibn Ali al-Qalasadi (1412–1486) was an Andalusian Muslim mathematician. His main contribution was to introduce algebraic symbolism, and he used short Arabic words for his symbols. For example, he used the symbol for the sound "sh" from the Arabic word meaning "thing" to represent what we call x, the unknown.
TRIGONOMETRY
Khwarizmi also contributed to trigonometry. He established accurate trigonometric tables for sine and cosine, and he was the first to introduce tangent tables. [16] In 1126, these works were translated into Latin by Adelard of Bath.
Al-Battani or Albetagnius (about 850–929) was a Muslim astronomer and mathematician. In his research on astronomy he used trigonometric methods which were a lot more advanced than the geometric methods used by Ptolemy. He introduced trigonometric ratios. For example, for a right triangle with adjacent sides a and b, he gives the formula b sin(A) = a sin(900 – A), which is equivalent to tan A = a/b. He was the first to introduce the cotangent function.
Muhammad Abu'l Wafa (940–998), born at Buzjan in Khorasan, introduced the use of secant, cosecant and tangent functions. He gave a new method of constructing sine tables. He calculated sin(30^0) with an accuracy of up to eight decimal digits. He improved spherical trigonometry and proved the law of sines for general spherical triangles. In particular, he developed the half/double angle formulas:
2 sin2 (x/2)=1–cos x; sin 2x=2sin x cos x
He was the first to introduce the notion of secant and cosecant, and hence completed the list of all six trigonometric functions.
Abu Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Muadh Al-Jayyani (989–1079) was an Arab mathematician from Andalus. He was the author of The Book of Unknown Arcs of a Sphere which was "the first treatise on spherical trigonometry." Here he mentioned formulas for right handed triangles and law of sines. He also stated the formula for the solution of a spherical triangle in terms of the polar triangle. He had a strong influence on the West.
Another outstanding mathematician Nasir al-Din al-Tusi (1201–1274) wrote Treatise On The Quadrilateral, considered the best book on trigonometry written in medieval times, later translated into French by Alexandre Carathéodory Pasha in 1891. In his book al-Tusi made enormous advances in plane and spherical trigonometry. The Dictionary of Scientific Biography states, "This work is really the first in history on trigonometry as an independent branch of pure mathematics and the first in which all six cases for a right-angled spherical triangle are set forth." The well-known sine law is also stated in this work: a/sin A = b/sin B = c/sin C.
Ghiyath al-Din al-Kashi (1393–1449) produces sine tables of up to eight decimal places. In 1424, he computed 2π to an accuracy of sixteen decimal digits. He wrote a very impressive book on mathematics: Miftah al-Hussab (Key to Arithmetic). His main purpose in this book is to provide sufficient knowledge of mathematics for those who are working on astronomy, surveying, architecture, accounting and trading. He also describes how to find the fifth root of any number.
Unfortunately, the contributions of Muslims often go unrecognized. Muslim scholars contributed to science in many aspects such as mathematics, astronomy, geography, philosophy, medicine, art, architecture and so on. However, today few realize that in that era Islam played an important role in all aspects of life. Europe faced losing the works of major scholars, but as a result of their translations into Arabic most of this scholarship not only survived, but was further developed. Inspired by the Qur'an and hadiths, Muslims sought knowledge for the benefit of humankind. As the Qur'an says, "Are those who know equal to those who know not?"(Zumar 39:9). We should appreciate the scholars of all eras for their contributions to science.

Continuation of the earlier post.
In the earlier post, I was talking about the great mathematicians of the world. In this post, I am gonna talk about - Archimedes and Pythagoras.
ARCHIMEDES
Archimedes was the most-famous mathematician and inventor in ancient Greece. Archimedes is especially important for his discovery of the relation between the surface and volume of a sphere and its circumscribing cylinder. He is known for his formulation of a hydrostatic principle (known as Archimedes’ principle) and a device for raising water, still used in developing countries, known as the Archimedes screw. Archimedes probably spent some time in Egypt early in his career, but he resided for most of his life in Syracuse, the principal Greek city-state in Sicily, where he was on intimate terms with its king, Hieron II. Archimedes published his works in the form of correspondence with the principal mathematicians of his time, including the Alexandrian scholars Conon of Samos and Eratosthenes of Cyrene. He played an important role in the defense of Syracuse against the siege laid by the Romans in 213 BCE by constructing war machines so effective that they long delayed the capture of the city. When Syracuse eventually fell to the Roman general Marcus Claudius Marcellus in the autumn of 212 or spring of 211 BCE, Archimedes was killed in the sack of the city.

Far more details survive about the life of Archimedes than about any other ancient scientist, but they are largely anecdotal, reflecting the impression that his mechanical genius made on the popular imagination. Thus, he is credited with inventing the Archimedes screw, and he is supposed to have made two “spheres” that Marcellus took back to Rome—one a star globe and the other a device (the details of which are uncertain) for mechanically representing the motions of the Sun, the Moon, and the planets. The story that he determined the proportion of gold and silver in a wreath made for Hieron by weighing it in water is probably true, but the version that has him leaping from the bath in which he supposedly got the idea and running naked through the streets shouting “Heurēka!” (“I have found it!”) is popular embellishment. Equally apocryphal are the stories that he used a huge array of mirrors to burn the Roman ships besieging Syracuse; that he said, “Give me a place to stand and I will move the Earth”; and that a Roman soldier killed him because he refused to leave his mathematical diagrams—although all are popular reflections of his real interest in catoptrics (the branch of optics dealing with the reflection of light from mirrors, plane or curved), mechanics, and pure mathematics.
According to Plutarch (c. 46–119 CE), Archimedes had so low an opinion of the kind of practical invention at which he excelled and to which he owed his contemporary fame that he left no written work on such subjects. While it is true that—apart from a dubious reference to a treatise, “On Sphere-Making”—all of his known works were of a theoretical character, his interest in mechanics nevertheless deeply influenced his mathematical thinking. Not only did he write works on theoretical mechanics and hydrostatics, but his treatise Method Concerning Mechanical Theorems shows that he used mechanical reasoning as a heuristic device for the discovery of new mathematical theorems.

His Works
There are nine extant treatises by Archimedes in Greek. The principal results in On the Sphere and Cylinder (in two books) are that the surface area of any sphere of radius r is four times that of its greatest circle (in modern notation, S = 4πr2) and that the volume of a sphere is two-thirds that of the cylinder in which it is inscribed (leading immediately to the formula for the volume, V = 4/3πr3). Archimedes was proud enough of the latter discovery to leave instructions for his tomb to be marked with a sphere inscribed in a cylinder. Marcus Tullius Cicero (106–43 BCE) found the tomb, overgrown with vegetation, a century and a half after Archimedes’ death.
sphere with circumscribing cylinder
sphere with circumscribing cylinder
The volume of a sphere is 4πr3/3, and the volume of the circumscribing cylinder is 2πr3. The surface area of a sphere is 4πr2, and the surface area of the circumscribing cylinder is 6πr2. Hence, any sphere has both two-thirds the volume and two-thirds the surface area of its circumscribing cylinder.
Encyclopædia Britannica, Inc.
Measurement of the Circle is a fragment of a longer work in which π (pi), the ratio of the circumference to the diameter of a circle, is shown to lie between the limits of 3 10/71 and 3 1/7. Archimedes’ approach to determining π, which consists of inscribing and circumscribing regular polygons with a large number of sides, was followed by everyone until the development of infinite series expansions in India during the 15th century and in Europe during the 17th century. That work also contains accurate approximations (expressed as ratios of integers) to the square roots of 3 and several large numbers.
On Conoids and Spheroids deals with determining the volumes of the segments of solids formed by the revolution of a conic section (circle, ellipse, parabola, or hyperbola) about its axis. In modern terms, those are problems of integration. (See calculus.) On Spirals develops many properties of tangents to, and areas associated with, the spiral of Archimedes—i.e., the locus of a point moving with uniform speed along a straight line that itself is rotating with uniform speed about a fixed point. It was one of only a few curves beyond the straight line and the conic sections known in antiquity.
On the Equilibrium of Planes (or Centres of Gravity of Planes; in two books) is mainly concerned with establishing the centres of gravity of various rectilinear plane figures and segments of the parabola and the paraboloid. The first book purports to establish the “law of the lever” (magnitudes balance at distances from the fulcrum in inverse ratio to their weights), and it is mainly on the basis of that treatise that Archimedes has been called the founder of theoretical mechanics. Much of that book, however, is undoubtedly not authentic, consisting as it does of inept later additions or reworkings, and it seems likely that the basic principle of the law of the lever and—possibly—the concept of the centre of gravity were established on a mathematical basis by scholars earlier than Archimedes. His contribution was rather to extend those concepts to conic sections.
Quadrature of the Parabola demonstrates, first by “mechanical” means (as in Method, discussed below) and then by conventional geometric methods, that the area of any segment of a parabola is 4/3 of the area of the triangle having the same base and height as that segment. That is, again, a problem in integration.
The Sand-Reckoner is a small treatise that is a jeu d’esprit written for the layman—it is addressed to Gelon, son of Hieron—that nevertheless contains some profoundly original mathematics. Its object is to remedy the inadequacies of the Greek numerical notation system by showing how to express a huge number—the number of grains of sand that it would take to fill the whole of the universe. What Archimedes does, in effect, is to create a place-value system of notation, with a base of 100,000,000. (That was apparently a completely original idea, since he had no knowledge of the contemporary Babylonian place-value system with base 60.) The work is also of interest because it gives the most detailed surviving description of the heliocentric system of Aristarchus of Samos (c. 310–230 BCE) and because it contains an account of an ingenious procedure that Archimedes used to determine the Sun’s apparent diameter by observation with an instrument.
Method Concerning Mechanical Theorems describes a process of discovery in mathematics. It is the sole surviving work from antiquity, and one of the few from any period, that deals with this topic. In it Archimedes recounts how he used a “mechanical” method to arrive at some of his key discoveries, including the area of a parabolic segment and the surface area and volume of a sphere. The technique consists of dividing each of two figures into an infinite but equal number of infinitesimally thin strips, then “weighing” each corresponding pair of these strips against each other on a notional balance to obtain the ratio of the two original figures. Archimedes emphasizes that, though useful as a heuristic method, this procedure does not constitute a rigorous proof.
On Floating Bodies (in two books) survives only partly in Greek, the rest in medieval Latin translation from the Greek. It is the first known work on hydrostatics, of which Archimedes is recognized as the founder. Its purpose is to determine the positions that various solids will assume when floating in a fluid, according to their form and the variation in their specific gravities. In the first book various general principles are established, notably what has come to be known as Archimedes’ principle: a solid denser than a fluid will, when immersed in that fluid, be lighter by the weight of the fluid it displaces. The second book is a mathematical tour de force unmatched in antiquity and rarely equaled since. In it Archimedes determines the different positions of stability that a right paraboloid of revolution assumes when floating in a fluid of greater specific gravity, according to geometric and hydrostatic variations.
Archimedes is known, from references of later authors, to have written a number of other works that have not survived. Of particular interest are treatises on catoptrics, in which he discussed, among other things, the phenomenon of refraction; on the 13 semiregular (Archimedean) polyhedra (those bodies bounded by regular polygons, not necessarily all of the same type, that can be inscribed in a sphere); and the “Cattle Problem” (preserved in a Greek epigram), which poses a problem in indeterminate analysis, with eight unknowns. In addition to those, there survive several works in Arabic translation ascribed to Archimedes that cannot have been composed by him in their present form, although they may contain “Archimedean” elements. Those include a work on inscribing the regular heptagon in a circle; a collection of lemmas (propositions assumed to be true that are used to prove a theorem) and a book, On Touching Circles, both having to do with elementary plane geometry; and the Stomachion (parts of which also survive in Greek), dealing with a square divided into 14 pieces for a game or puzzle.
Archimedes’ mathematical proofs and presentation exhibit great boldness and originality of thought on the one hand and extreme rigour on the other, meeting the highest standards of contemporary geometry. While the Method shows that he arrived at the formulas for the surface area and volume of a sphere by “mechanical” reasoning involving infinitesimals, in his actual proofs of the results in Sphere and Cylinder he uses only the rigorous methods of successive finite approximation that had been invented by Eudoxus of Cnidus in the 4th century BCE. These methods, of which Archimedes was a master, are the standard procedure in all his works on higher geometry that deal with proving results about areas and volumes. Their mathematical rigour stands in strong contrast to the “proofs” of the first practitioners of integral calculus in the 17th century, when infinitesimals were reintroduced into mathematics. Yet Archimedes’ results are no less impressive than theirs. The same freedom from conventional ways of thinking is apparent in the arithmetical field in Sand-Reckoner, which shows a deep understanding of the nature of the numerical system.
In antiquity Archimedes was also known as an outstanding astronomer: his observations of solstices were used by Hipparchus (flourished c. 140 BCE), the foremost ancient astronomer. Very little is known of this side of Archimedes’ activity, although Sand-Reckoner reveals his keen astronomical interest and practical observational ability. There has, however, been handed down a set of numbers attributed to him giving the distances of the various heavenly bodies from Earth, which has been shown to be based not on observed astronomical data but on a “Pythagorean” theory associating the spatial intervals between the planets with musical intervals. Surprising though it is to find those metaphysical speculations in the work of a practicing astronomer, there is good reason to believe that their attribution to Archimedes is correct.
PYTHAGORAS
Pythagoras of Samos[a] (c. 570 – c. 495 BC)[b] was an ancient Ionian Greek philosopher and the eponymous founder of Pythagoreanism. His political and religious teachings were well known in Magna Graecia and influenced the philosophies of Plato, Aristotle, and, through them, Western philosophy. Knowledge of his life is clouded by legend, but he appears to have been the son of Mnesarchus, a gem-engraver on the island of Samos. Modern scholars disagree regarding Pythagoras's education and influences, but they do agree that, around 530 BC, he travelled to Croton in southern Italy, where he founded a school in which initiates were sworn to secrecy and lived a communal, ascetic lifestyle. This lifestyle entailed a number of dietary prohibitions, traditionally said to have included vegetarianism, although modern scholars doubt that he ever advocated for complete vegetarianism.

How Do I Know If My Infrared Thermometer Is Accurate?
An infrared thermometer is a temperature measuring and designating instrument. It is also known as laser thermometers since when measuring with the infrared thermometer; a laser is used for aiming the target from a certain distance. It is a useful device and popular for its ease of use.
But the most common question regarding this device that comes to people's minds is - How do I know if my infrared thermometer is accurate? Do you also have a lot of curiosity to know the answer to this question? Well, in this article we will get you through this. So, keep reading to get the answer!
How Do I Know If My Infrared Thermometer Is Accurate?
Without any doubt, it is crucial to know that the result of your infrared thermometer is accurate or not. Though it is a digital and more advanced version of the thermometer, this device works in a similar way as a regular thermometer which means the conclusion is the same. The main difference actually remains in the working process.
If you want to make a decision about the accuracy of your infrared thermometer then follow the below-mentioned procedures-
➔ Your infrared thermometer comes with a distance-to-spot ratio which means the device is able to measure the target from that specific area only but not more than this. So make sure you maintain the distance-to-spot ratio when measuring with this device if you want the highest accuracy.
➔ Give some time to the infrared thermometer so that it can get near to the room temperature, and only then will it be able to give you the accurate result; otherwise, you will not get the highest accuracy.
➔ If debris or grime remains in the infrared thermometer’s sensor or lens then it can highly affect the accuracy by deflecting the thermometer energy. So you should keep the thermometer’s sensor and lens away from any debris or grime.
➔ Make sure the thermometer is set between 0.95 and 0.97 to get the highest accuracy with this device.
➔ To know the accuracy you also can calibrate your thermometer with a correctly made ice bath. To do it, you need a glass full of water and then add crushed ice into this and wait for 2 minutes. And then keep the lens of the thermometer at a 90-degree angle and hold it to the peak of the water. If the measure is 32.0°F then the device reading is accurate.
Final word
An infrared thermometer is an essential and useful device. If you are using or about to use this device, the above-mentioned procedure will help you to be sure about the accuracy of your device.
Hopefully, now you know the procedure of knowing whether your infrared thermometer is accurate or not. To know more information about the infrared thermometers, visit this website thermometerwiki.

The Time You Remodel Your Home remember the Air conditioner
While it most often refers to building projects that alter the structure of an existing home, home renovation can include improvements to lawns and gardens and outbuildings like gazebos and garages. Wallpapering and painting walls or installing wood paneling. Adding new flooring such as carpets, tiling, linoleum, wood flooring, or solid hardwood flooring. Upgrading cabinets, fixtures, and sinks in the kitchen and bathroom. Improving the backyard with sliding doors, wooden patio decks, patio gardens, Jacuzzis, swimming pools, Air conditioners and fencing. Increasing the capacity of plumbing and electrical systems. Soundproofing rooms, especially bedrooms and baths. Roof tear-off and replacement. Concrete and masonry repairs to the foundation and chimney. Repairing plumbing and electrical systems. Turning marginal areas into livable spaces such as turning basements into rec rooms or attics into spare bedrooms. Extending one's house with rooms added to the side of one's home or, sometimes, extra levels to the original roof. A residential area is a type of land use where the predominant use is housing. In areas that are zoned residential, buildings may include single family housing, multiple family housing such as (apartments, duplexes, townhomes (or similar configurations), condominiums) or mobile homes. Zoning for residential use may permit some services or work opportunities or may totally exclude business and industry. It may permit high density land use or only permit low density uses. Residential zoning usually includes a smaller FAR (floor to area ratio) than business, commercial or industrial/manufacturing zoning. In certain places there is a lot of partying situations residential areas may consist of quite large tracts of land which have no services whatsoever requiring a trip to town in order to fulfill basic needs. Because of the large distances involved most of these numerous trips involve using a motor vehicle. When hiring a home improvement contractor in Central Florida, communication is very important. To make sure you get accurate estimates to contrast and compare, it is important to provide the contractor with what you expect from the home improvement job. The materials you choose for your home improvement job can drastically increase the remodeling cost. When you receive bids from different home improvement contractors, choosing the best one can be quite difficult. Comparing quotes offered by different contractors can help you go with the best one that suits your budget and requirements. By carrying out different home improvement tasks, you can enhance the overall appeal of your home. Painting your room, updating your kitchen, bathroom and master bedroom are some things you can do to increase the value of your home. When it comes to your bedroom and kitchen, you must ensure that all table surface, closets and drawers have minimum content in them. Adding mirrors, tubs/showers, toilet and countertops in your bathroom can enhance its appearance. Purchasing basement waterproofing materials can either be a simple, inexpensive thing to do or a substantial and costly project. It all depends on exactly what type of waterproofing you plan on doing: internal or external. Internal waterproofing, which homeowners can do on their own with minimal assistance, can be accomplished with affordable products. External waterproofing, on the other hand, involves some pretty expensive materials. Internal basement waterproofing can be completed with materials as simple as crack compound, mold solution and waterproofing paint, all of which can be purchased at a local home improvement store for a few bucks. In only a weekend, you should have no problem waterproofing the inside of your basement walls. The problem therein is that internal basement waterproofing, while it improves the aesthetic appearance of your home and increases its marketability, doesn't really protect you against serious flooding. The materials you purchase at the home improvement store can't stop heavy rain from invading your basement if your area experiences significant rainfall. External foundation drainage systems are what really keep water from flooding your home, and in order to service them, you need to excavate around your home with heavy equipment. The footer drains surrounding your home move excess rainwater away from your property and deposit it in a safer location, and if they become clogged some serious flooding can occur. Basement waterproofing materials for these types of projects end up costing a significant amount of money. Heavy excavating equipment, several tons of aggregate back-fill material, and other items might be easily accessible by a professional contracting company, but not the average homeowner. If you're waterproofing and beautifying the inside of your home on your own, then don't expect to pay much for the materials you need to get the job done. But hiring a professional waterproofing company, which might need to use some expensive products to fix your home, can end up costing you a significant amount of money. In addition, this cabinetry possesses zero air pollutants. Furthermore, this type of cabinetry is treated with water-based finishes, stains and topcoats as well as being eco-friendly synthetic veneers. As s result of such, no damage is done to the environment in order to obtain the wood, i.e. the rainforests are not depleted. Additionally, the disposal of the products would not further contribute to the deterioration of the environment. Moreover, these green cabinets can not only be used for commercial and residential use, but also can be tailored to accommodate generally any design style, including traditional or contemporary; regardless of which design company you use. Not only is green cabinetry eco-friendly, but it is also healthy for the individuals in the home. In fact, numerous people are treated every single year for exposure to the chemicals used in treating many of the products found our homes. While examples of such chemicals are commonly known, i.e. bleach, others are not as widely known, i.e. formaldehyde, and can be just as deadly, if not more. Normally everyone tries to avoid doing any major home improvements in the winter, purely because of the weather conditions and the daylight hours also. In winters its obvious that its cold and chilly days, and in the morning its dark, and therefore it also gets dark at a very early time so there's not enough daylight hours that workmen can work and get the project finished quickly. Its always better to work in the summer where its completely opposite, where you have plenty of daylight and the temperature and weather is absolutely brilliant. You have a wider selection and many of these stores will send samples if you ask for them. You can buy unique countertops that are shipped, carpeting, flooring, and paneling - just about everything imaginable. You may want to discuss the possibility of damage upon shipping to see what their policies are on returns. Be aware that because the product is being shipped that you may have to pay shipping charges. This can offset the discount price if you are somewhere that is fairly remote. Get a quote for the shipping before you commit to buying your materials online. You don’t want to agree to a discount price only to find out you are paying more once the shipping is added in. Warehouse Clubs Places like Sam’s and Costco’s may not have a large selection of home improvement products like flooring or carpeting, but they do have a good selection of tools at great prices. The Real Estate Home Buying Process
Now i'm often asked by clients for a brief overview of doing this of buying Real Estate so I figured it would be helpful to write the post outlining the steps of the Real Estate home buying practice from beginning to end. Step 1: Find A Real Estate Agent - When i firmly believe that smart, successful people surround themselves through smart, experienced experts that can help guide them to a most certainly thought out decision. If you don't buy and sell Real Estate every day all day for just a living, how could you possibly understand the local Real Estate home buying technique and all of the nuances and intricacies of the available products, purchase contract, title insurance and mortgage process? How will you possibly know what a good deal or a great deal looks like? You can't! Receive referrals from friends, use Google to search, go to clear houses and keep looking until you find someone you are feeling has the experience, resume and personality to represent you will and your interests. It costs the home buyer NOTHING and will save you a great deal of stress in the long run. Step 2: Get Preapproved - Getting a preapproval or prequalification should always be the very first stage when preparing to purchase Real Estate, but not surprisingly most home purchasers begin searching for homes before they really know what he or she can afford to spend. I made getting preapproved step 2 of your Real Estate home buying process only because many times the best financial institution recommendations will come from your real estate agent. The housing market crash has built an ever changing lending environment that is difficult just for even full time real estate professionals to keep up with. Lending specifications change, PMI and MIP charges increase, loan bounds increase and decrease, condos become unwarrantable and rates fluctuate every day. The only accurate way to have a realistic notion of your borrowing power is by getting preapproved because of a reputable lender. Remember too that just because you can easily afford to spend a certain amount does not mean you have to spend that amount of money. Determine a monthly payment you are comfortable with and only look at real estate with prices that fall into that monthly payment range. Step: Create A Hierarchy Of Needs and Wants - Almost all buyers of real estate are not sure what they at some point want other than they know they want a great deal. Buyers should evaluate all of their needs and wants before looking at any properties. Items up for consideration are: price, monthly payment, beds/baths, square footage, outdoor space, school district, parking, location, walkability, floorplan and neighborhood. Be realistic about what you can afford to pay for and then determine what features are essential, and which would be decent but are not deal breakers. Be prepared to decide if you should have your dream home in your second or thirdly favorite neighborhood or a nice home in your favorite town. Step 4: Searching For Real Estate - If you're working with a local Real estate professional he or she should be searching the MLS for new entries on a daily basis. You shouldn't have to send properties to your agent; the agent should be emailing you properties. If you have a hands-on, hands on personality and you want to be involved in the search process there are a variety local and national real estate websites that offer free admittance to the entire local MLS. Pay careful attention to all of the home's details, not just the price. Variables like real estate taxes, property fees, HOA fees, building maintenance fees (co-ops) as well as amenities like a pool, gym, and parking can affect affordability considerations and must be carefully compared between properties. Stage 5: Submitting An Offer - Submitting an deliver can seem intimidating, especially to first time home individuals, but if done correctly there is little risk called for. Most standard agreements of sale includes contingencies who allow the buyer to terminate a signed purchase written agreement without penalty under certain circumstances. The usual contingencies will be for a mortgage, inspections, and an appraisal but right now there many others that can be included to protect the buyer if needed. If you should sell a home before making a purchase let your professional know that you will need a home sale contingency. Be open and reliable with your real estate agent so he or she can make sure you are 100% preserved by the purchase agreement. Research relevant comparable home revenues and try to determine a fair price range to pay for the home. Determining the average asking price to sale price ratio in the home's living room neighborhood has been for the past 3-6 months and ensure your initial offer makes sense. Finally, try to make your own offer as appealing to the Seller as possible without compromising all of your interests or goals. Step 6: Accepted Offer : Time to celebrate right? Wrong! Getting your offer accepted will be beginning of the due diligence process, not the end. The contingency instances allow you to inspect the home, shop around for mortgages and execute all of your due diligence on the home. Make sure that the home and most of its systems are in the condition they appear to be. Talk to few reputable lenders and make sure you can obtain a loan with an interest quote and fees that you can afford. Contact an insurance company and start quotes for home owner's insurance and a title underwriter to order title insurance. The lender you select will retain an appraiser to perform an appraisal of the property. Your own real estate agent is responsible for overseeing the transaction, coordinating with the mortgage lender, the title insurance company, the homeowner's insurance company and featuring any recommendations you need along the way. Step 7: Settlement -- If your Real Estate Agent has done his job well settlement might be a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Prior to settlement you should perform a pre-settlement walk through to make sure the home is in the same condition because when you signed the purchase contract. Make sure all agreed upon repairs were completed and that there is no new damage to the house and property. Prior to settlement you should also contact the utility companies that come with electric, gas, and cable/internet. The title company will probably handle the transfer of water and sewer. All you will need to bring to settlement is a check for the amount expected at closing and your state issued identification. Once the paperwork is signed you can relax and celebrate. At this time you are officially a home owner!

Show vs. Science: Exploding Hands?
Hey everyone, welcome to the (long awaited) Bakugou Science Bust!! In this post it’s less about theories and more about finding the scientific inconsistencies in Bakugou’s quirk and finding solutions in the form of mini-theories. The formatting is going along the top questions I had and the results I got. Also warning this ended up being ~1900 words long (before editing) so... yea.
The conclusion is basically a compare and contrast of the Canon vs. Scientific Bakugou and what differences we end up with. Feel free to reblog with your own theories or reaction to this, since I really enjoy seeing your feedback.
Before getting into the science of it, let’s just recap what we know about Bakugou Katsuki. As explained in season 1, episode 7, his ‘exploding hands’ quirk stems from him sweating nitroglycerin and (somehow) being able to channel that into his explosions. Right off the bat, we already know the science will not allow him to use his quirk the way he does in the show where he uses mere ‘concentration’(?) to set off his explosions. So let’s get into the specifics of his limitations.
Could he actually control the explosions?
Seems like a pretty easy place to start right? It’s a valid question; just because he has nitroglycerin in his system doesn’t mean he can actually control when or if he explodes. (Which is a bit worrying.)
The answer to this one already gives us a few inconsistencies between canon and science compliant versions of this character. Yes, he can control the explosions. If Bakugou is able to sweat nitroglycerin, he would almost always have a thin layer of explosive liquid covering his body. (It can also be assumed that, with this as his power and with puberty having already hit, he sweats a lot.)
From there, the nitroglycerin in its liquid form can be exploded in one of two ways; heat or shock/impact. And since Bakugou obviously isn’t going to rely on a lighter or Todoroki to help him out every time he needs to use his power, it can be deduced that he’s using impact to create those explosions. Which leads us into our next section,
How would he control his power?
Going with ‘impact’ as the match to the gasoline raises two problems for Bakugou, though. One, he canonically has way more control over his power than scientifically possible, and Two, this boy is a very short-tempered one. Adding his easy-to-anger personality to this (very literally) explosive quirk would be a huge safety issue to both him and everyone around him. Having control over the blasts is possible, but it’d take effort.
So, first off, he would have to fix his anger issues and learn to not hit or slam his hands on the nearest item when something goes wrong. Along with this, he would have to avoid getting in the middle of fights as well (unless he means to use his quirk in it). He might be the most peaceful Bakugou possible, but that won’t stop an explosion from getting slapped.
He’d also need to wear thin but tight long sleeves and pants in order to absorb and dilute the nitroglycerin, making it less likely to explode on unavoidable impacts.
Now, to address the few options he has that provide at least some for of control over the explosions.
Initially, snapping seemed like the obvious solution. Not to say that it isn’t an option, since it would work to activate the nitroglycerin in his hand, and if he was snapping while flicking his wrist for more control, then it’d be a totally viable option. The problem comes up when looking for actual damage to be done to the opponent. Snapping his fingers close to them would be enough to stun an enemy, but the power of the explosions he could potentially make measures around the strength of the first two firecrackers from this video.
The next step I took in researching this was finding a directional way for him to clap, in order to exhibit some stronger results than the snap. (Though heads up, even at maximum power, he would not be able to naturally make the huge explosions he does in the show. The gauntlets he has though might be able to help him do that.)
There were many ways for him to, essentially, clap in order to get his blast in the intended direction, but almost all of them require at least a paragraph of explanation in order to get the idea across sans imagery. There is one that came to me almost immediately; it’s from a theater game called Zip Zap Zop. This video demonstrates the clap pretty well.
With the impact of his fingers on his palm, the majority of the nitroglycerin would be on the palm, therefore igniting it and allowing it to go in a specific direction as he slides his exploding hand forward.
Sweating Nitroglycerin???
So this part of the research was a lot harder than literally any of the rest of it because in every diagram I found, the sweat glands weren’t connected to anything. Literally no website I went to explained where specifically the sweat glands got their ingredients. This resulted in me taking an alternate route.
Sweat is the body’s way of disposing of waste and maintaining a steady temperature (woop woop homeostasis), and it consists mostly of water and salt. Sweat glands are also found all throughout the body, hence Bakugou needing to dilute all the sweat with fabric before the excess sweat becomes a real problem.
Since the “research” was a lot of roughly-averaged math based on conflicting information, the answer is tentative, but generally, yes, it is possible for him to sweat nitroglycerin. The natural implication of it into his body is a separate thing, but if you replace all the water in his body with a 2 parts water 1 part nitroglycerin mixture, his body should hold up along with the nitroglycerin. Surprisingly, it holds it’s chemical make-up holds its own pretty well in the face of water.
Bonus science fact that came out of this section: if the 2/1 water/nitroglycerin mixture was what was flowing through his veins, along with his sweat, his pee and spit would also be explosive. So would the water from his showers or baths since the nitroglycerin would be mixed into it.
Would he be deaf?
Just going to preface this by saying I am obsessed with Deaf!Bakugou headcanons, oneshots, fics, and art because A, I love deaf representation so much, and B, it’s freaking accurate the show is lying to us he would 100% be deaf and here is why-
According to the National Institute of Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, hearing loss due to exposure to sounds can begin at 85 decibels or higher. To put this in perspective, the NIDCD says that heavy traffic averages at 85 decibels and firearms average around 150 decibels. 150 decibels is also the estimated bursting point for eardrums.
It’s difficult to estimate how powerful his explosions are, but I’m going to use an ‘average pistol’ for this research. I am doing this because firearms use mini explosions in order to fire the bullet, and an average pistol is just an average place to start. A .22 LR pistol falls around 152 decibels.
Next, instead of going through all the calculations to see how large this explosion is in comparison to his would-be hand explosions, I decided to convert the mass of the bullet to liters (which is what I have his sweat measured in) and see how the two numbers compare. The bigger the number, the more explosive matter there is and the larger the explosion.
Bakugou sweats roughly .21 liters per hour, based on research on how much people sweat averagely during exercise and having him be on the upper end since he’d be working out hard in order to use his quirk and have actual impact. When speaking of a .22 caliber bullet, the measurements fall around 3.1 grams. Converting that, we get .0031 liters. This number is obviously too small to compare with the caliber of explosions Bakugou is letting off. In fact, bakugou’s explosions are more than 70 times that.
The (insane) difference between the two number shows us that Bakugou’s explosions will produce a lot more sound than that of a simple pistol. Instead of being just deaf, his eardrums would be nonexistent. HIs explosions’ sound might not be to the same ratio as the intensity but still.. hopefully he looses his hearing gradually over time as his explosions get more powerful, because otherwise, that’d be extremely painful.
(Please note that this section was written before I found these blueprints showing his headpiece as having earplugs, though he would still have significant hearing loss from the explosions he does even when he’s not wearing those.)
Could his skin take the constant damage?
The explanation for this section is less scientific and more of a theoretical hypothesis. There is also a second theory I have that helps defend this question, but I’m probably going to make that its own post. (If I do I’ll come back and link it here.)
Anyways, I think he just used simple endurance training.
It might seem random but the chances that his skin just built up strength over the years of constant, slowly growing damage being done to them. We already know his power grows as he does, and we know that he did use it as a child, so it just got used to it. Sort of like calluses from monkey bars.
Going off of that assumption, it’s reasonable to think that at first, with his small pops, his hands’ skin was hurt but quickly grew back thicker and stronger. Because that’s how the body works when it’s hurt. When you burn your skin, it grows back with a different texture because it has been burned and it trying to prevent that damage from happening again. So if he’s been slowly building up his skins’ resistance to the explosions, he should be generally alright at this point.
Please remember this is just a theory written without much knowledge f burning skin and not a recommendation. Do not try this at home. :)
Conclusion
Scientific Bakugou:
Whenever he needs to use his quirk, he either claps, snaps, or hits the object he’s aiming for.
In order to avoid accidental explosions, he avoids sharp, impactful movements (smacking, hitting, or slamming things.)
He normally wears thin, lightweight long sleeves along with generally snug pants in order to absorb the excess sweat on his body for his safety and others.
When he sweats, he’s sweating a mixture of nitroglycerin and water.
His spit and pee are also explosive.
His hearing is gone completely once he hits highschool, as his explosions reach well over 150 decibels on a regular basis.
The skin on his hands has (possibly) built up burn-calluses from the explosions over the years, growing in strength as the explosions do. It still hurts but the nerve damage is enough to prevent it from being too painful.
Canon Bakugou:*
Whenever he needs to use his quirk, he somehow charges the nitroglycerin in his hand via concentration. ?
In order to avoid accidental explosions, he tries to keep control over his nerves, since that seems to be what causes him to loose control and accidentally release some pops.
He normally wears loose fitting pants and a tank top because apparently he does not fear science.
When he sweats, he's sweating nitroglycerin.
His spit and pee might be explosive but are probably not.
His hearing is just fine with barely any noticeable damage at all, despite the decibels he is constantly being exposed to.
The skin on his hands is normal and undamaged. (Bonus science inconsistency is that he wears gloves in his hero costume, which would mute his power completely. If he even managed to make an explosion in those things, they seem to be explosion resistant, so it'd do more damage to him than anything/one else.)
*I think it should be noted that canon Bakugou's power seems to be tied to his emotions, which I only noticed as I was writing this.
Outro
Despite how long it took, I really had a lot of fun with this project. I’m tempted to make this into a series, possibly doing Creati / Yao-Momo next. I also have a few things I mentioned in the post above that might be part two, three, four, etc.s to this post, but going in the direction of further exploring Bakugou’s abilities. Still need help on deciding which part two option to focus on first though.
Possible part two’s include:
another post like this but shorter and about his gauntlets (and hero costume in general, this would probably go more in depth on what he wears in general as well)
a post like this that follows up on my rising question of ‘could he actually control the explosions with neither of the triggers of nitroglycerin’ and going into what other explosive he’d have to use in order to have that chemical interact with the ones flowing through his system (i.e. hormones and nerves-)
a follow up on the fact that I didn’t actually complete the research on his hands being able to / not able to withstand all the explosions over the years
a post dedicated to my mini-theory about bnha having one consistent mutation over everyone who has a quirk
Also the art in the deaf!bakugou section doesn’t have a signature on it and when I reverse image searched it the only account I could find that possibly made it was @maelstrom-prince. So much freaking respect to whoever made it though, I freaking love blueprints for fictional things.
