hiii lane <3 ive acc been thinking about them a lot recently so this is the loveliest ask

canonically for Lilly it would be a rebellion against "her" ideals and morals. barty is a pure blooded, arrogant, hateful pseudo-death eater who goes against everything she (and her friends, house and even school go against) would be a step in the development of a “self” for lilly. as a muggle born who was introduced to a completely foreign world where she was idolised her making a “wrong” decision would be a big step. because she isn’t rebelling against everything she has ever known she’s rebelling against what she was thrown into and taught. there is no tradition or familial standards holding her back it’s a rebellion against her normality, her ordinary extraordinary life. as well as that there's age, Lilly is older, "more mature" and has a form of power in that, a leg to stand on,it would shift with the power dynamics of the obviously imbalanced relationship. and it’s obviously another factor to the “shamefulness” of their relationship.

Barty would have to overcome a lot more. for Lilly the relationship is a rebellion of "herself", of the presupposed ideals and morals she should have but for barty it's different. barty's relationship with Lilly would be a rebellion of his rebellion, going against his self imposed rules to aggravate his father. it would mean overcoming his ideals, his own morals which he made and decided upon. for Lilly its self discovery for barty it's self defiance.

kinks (!) generally. ive said this before but its such a fundamental part of barty Lilly to me. Lilly over analyses sex, overthinks her kinks and sexual preferences. questions if they're sustainable to a long term relationship, patriarchal, freudian e.c.t to a point where she just can't have sex without thinking it's "wrong". whereas barty analyses but ignores, I see barty as the ultimate hedonist. if it feels good, if its pleasurable then he doesn't care about the morals, ethics or rationality of it. good is good. so as a couple they would "moderate" each other to a certain extent

corruption kink! barty is obsessed with the idea of "pure" Lilly. I always imagine them as late teens/early twenties, so the image of barty "defiling" Lilly, of teaching her how good sex can feel, teaching her how to give head "making" her kinky would be a huge thing. where Lilly "should" be more experienced because of age, barty takes that power from her.

How much I relate to each Marauders era character:

Sirius = 4, bad childhood, and I tried to escape from my home when I was 8, and then when I was 11 (??) but that's it

James = 7, honestly, I always thought that I was the complete opposite of him, BUT recently I realised I'm basically a people pleaser who doesn't want others to really worry about me 😆 so yeah, that was FUN

Peter = 7, okay, I'm not gonna go around backstabbing my friends 😉 but this guy likes food and sleep. He is a little shy compared to the rest of his friends, and I hc him as ace and Bi, so that's me folks.

Remus = 9, I am full of scars and health problems, and back pain is my BFF. I love to read, and I would actually prefer reading with a cup of tea rather than going out to clubs or parties.

Lily = 5, not much to say, I love her, but apart from -> I like to study and I am anxious if I don't, we don't have much in common

How different Marauders era characters would feel about Taylor Swift.

Sirius- Obsessed with Taylor and her music. If she has one fan, it's him. If she has no fans, he's dead (like all the people he loves). Acknowledges that she does some questionable things but always makes excuses for her. Was really upset when Taylor and Joe broke up. Gets annoyed when people don't listen to Taylor's Version. Collected every CD, vinyl, and piece of merch that he could.

James- Outwardly pretends he just likes the music, but actually really relates to a lot of the sadder songs (eg Tolerate It). Sings the sweet, romantic songs to Lily/Reg all the time.

Remus- Was always annoyed at how overplayed Taylor's songs were, so hated/disliked her songs. Reluctantly agreed to go to the Eras Tour with Sirius and listened to the setlist in preparation and actually really loved a lot of the songs, but kept pretending to hate her because he didn't want to admit he was wrong.

Peter- Wasn't a Swiftie but liked a few of her songs. Didn't really understand why she was rerecording her albums except that it was important to her and the Swifties.

Lily- Major Swiftie, related to loads of songs and loved almost all of the rest. Went through everyone's playlists and replaced everything with Taylor's Version.

Mary- Was a Swiftie but not massive levels of obsession like Lily or Sirius. Really related to some of the songs, liked how a bunch of others sounded.

Marlene- Gatekept her favourites, judged Swifties based on which albums/songs they liked.

Dorcas- Loved Taylor's music, memorised as many of her songs as possible. Critical of Taylor's actions but still loved her and her music. Didn't want to give any money to Scooter Braun etc by streaming non-Taylor's Version songs, so listened to Reg's CDs if she wanted to listen to something that wasn't Taylor's Version.

Regulus- Obsessed with every song. Refused to even have non-Taylor's Version playing near him, even in public. Was the type of person to say "You can't be a Lover stan if you don't like Afterglow" etc, especially to Sirius. Collected the cardigans and CDs.

Pandora- Huge folklore girlie. Not a huge pop girl, but loves the country/alternative albums.

Evan- Didn't count himself as a Swiftie, but all of his friends are obsessed with her so he's grown to like her music. Doesn't tell anyone what he thinks about different songs for fear of being murdered by the people he loves (like James and Lily on Halloween 1981).

Barty- Doesn't tell anyone outside of his friends that he likes Taylor, but secretly loves all of her music, especially her pop albums.

putting this here so I have a reference later when I'm actually writing and posting the fanfic (rn I just have a good chunk plotted out and some scenes in my brain). Also including their pronouns so it makes a little more sense. For their clothing, it's just their choices when they don't have to wear the school uniform (I hate the uniform deeply imo no one looks as hot in robes). I am taking artistic license with their designs bc I can make them look better than their canon designs do easily. If I said something contradicting these earlier, ignore it, I've got shit memory and adhd.

Sirius (he/they/she): long hair, one of those really queer nonbinary bun type things? She wears half goth half casual punk clothing stuff (like fishnet shirts under sleeveless black hoodies/ corsets with leather band jackets, etc. Definitely a spikey black boots/spiked collar type person). Decently pale skin and really dark blueish eyes, like the night sky right before it fades to black or the sea during a thunderstorm. They do their own piercings which has given them more than one infection, but he does have some successful ones (nose bridge, eyebrow, lots of ear stuff, and snakebites). Remus will insist to do it for them if he knows that she has a new idea, and he's significantly safer about them.

Remus (he/they? He/him? Somewhat cis but has a complicated relationship with gender): short golden brown hair that's in a barely noticeably mullet style. Nostril piercing (Sirius said it would look good on him so he did it). Warm-toned light brown skin with a lot of freckles that you generally can't see, dark amber eyes. Dresses for comfort over style, which usually means t-shirts, sweatpants and beat up old sneakers. Their only very noticeable scar on their face is one over their lips and chin. They have more, but the others are more skin toned.

Peter (he/they, sometimes it): generally very cute, light skin with some freckles and messy wavy blonde hair, pale sky blue eyes. Sirius is trying to convince him to let them give him snakebites but he's very on the fence about it (he barely even wears makeup so he isn't the most adventurous about that stuff). Thick/long lashes. Tends to wear muted neutral colors. The only jewelery that he's consistent about is a leather bracelet he always has on his left wrist. Tries to not be visually noticeable, tends to hang around the back of the friend group and let the others get all the attention.

James (he/him probably): longer curly/wavy dark brown queer mullet (tboy energy) and warm brown skin. Dark golden toned brown eyes. People tend to think he and Remus are cousins or something which he thinks is really funny (he's definitely turned around and started making out with him for as a bit when someone asks them if they're related). Usually wears brown dyed or bleached jeans and reddish-brown/brown/green-brown/yellow t shirts and tops for the cohesive and effortless energy. Paints his nails bright colors whenever he can as a contrast to Sirius's chronically flaking black nail polish. Has his lobes pierced but usually just wears gold studs. Wears gold bands around his biceps so he can flex when he wins a quiddich (<- I did not check how to spell that, you know what I mean) match

Regulus (he/him): he prefers to wear more formal clothing because that's what he was raised doing and the layers help him cover up any raised areas on his binder, but when that isn't an option/he's too depressed to do anything fancy, he wears black hoodies that are significantly too large for him (barty or evan's usually). Makeup tends to give hm dysphoria, but he always fills in his eyebrows and he'll put eyeliner on his waterline when he's going to an actual event. He pierced his tongue as an act of rebellion when he was younger and now he just fidgets with it a lot, other than that he just has his lobes done (he got them as a newborn) and he always leaves them empty in hopes that they'll seal up.

- he's my fav ever before I even got into the marauders fandom, I relate to him but not fully which is really cool. I picked my name because of him and now we kinda share initials. Also he's a Jewish king.

2. Peter

- I know it's controversial, and I get it, but I love him so much. I relate to him ao much and I don't see him as most of the fandom does. He's so important to me.

3. James

- I relate to him to an extent that no one will ever understand.

4. Xenophilius

- If there were more numbers between 1 and 4 I would put him higher. I love hus vibes and all that but I don't engage with him a lot.

5. Pandora

- I don't like who the fandom made her to be, I don't see her as friends with the Slytherins or a rosier, but I really like the character and the vibes.

6. Lily

- I don't really relate to her and a lot of the content about her I engage with I didn't really like, but I love her and she's a Jewish queen.

7. Sirius

- I know it's low, but I just don't relate to him and his personality is not my cup of tea, but I do like him and I would like to engage with him more.

8. Sybill

- I wanted to put her higher but again, I don't engage with her enough to do so, she's really interesting tho.

9. Marlene & Mary

- I just still don't get the base of their personality that the fandom decided on so I can't build anything on it, but they're really cool.

10. Dorcas

- she's cool, but I know almost nothing about her

11. Barty

- I wish 11 was way less then 10. I hate what the fandom did to him, but he's a really cool and interesting character and if he's the toxic person he is and not some traumatized boy who did nothing wrong, I'm into it.

12. Severus

- I don't like him at all, but he doesn't deserve the hate he gets from the fandom and he's an interesting character.

13. Evan

- same with Barty, tho he's less interesting to me and I don't really care about him.

14. Regulus

- I don't like him. He's really bad in canon although interesting, and I fucking hate the fanon version of him. I like the dark problematic of canon and fucking hate fanon character.

James Potter son of Apollo smth smth prophecy looming over him that no one really tells him about. Its either about him or his bloodline

Dumbledore and McGonagall, camp directors, who know about the prophecy and about the other gods but never really tell anyone.

Peter Pettigrew, satyr protector to James and Marlene who brought them to camp.

Marlene Mckinnon, daughter of Hermes

Lily Evans, daughter of Hecate

Remus Lupin, son of Athena, had been targeted by Lycaon the werewolf king, the og werewolf if you will.

One day, Sirius just shows up at camp, changing everything James thought he knew about himself and the gods.

He's passed out at the entry of the camp when Remus finds him and brings him to Dumbledore and McGonagall. Remus can't help but groan in disgust as he startles awake "you drool when you sleep" he tells him.

Turns out, Sirius has amnesia and the only thing he can remember is his name. Just his first name.

He can remember other stuff as well, like the names of the gods and monsters, except he knows them all in Roman and even though he's a bit rough around the edges and flinches a lot and acts tough, James decides to stick with him.

They go on a quest, yada yada yada, Sirius feels like he should remember someone important but he just can't put his finger on it.

Soon the four- James, Sirius, Remus and Peter become fast friends, and Sirius seems to have no issue with forgetting his "past life" since he has a feeling this one is much better.

Everything is going fine, Sirius like Remus, Remus likes Sirius, though neither of them will ever admit it, James is loud and proud about his crush on Lily.

Until one day when they run into someone else on a quest. They heard from Peter about a group of demigods, only to discover they aren't some helpless eleven year olds but rather fully trained vicious, broody, sarcastic annoying demigods. James doesn't remember seeing them at camp, but they all have weapons and they keep talking about their home. There's three of them, Regulus Black, son of Hades, Dorcas Meadows, daughter of Nike and Barty Crouch Jr, son of Nemesis.

Sirius falls off a cliff lol so James, Remus, Peter, Regulus and Lily go on a quest to get him back. EXCEPT THEY DON'T KNOW SIRIUS AND REGULUS ARE RELATED. James never says the name of his friend who fell off the cliff, he just calls him "Padfoot" or the occasional "Pads" and Regulus doesn't really talk at all about his family or even where he's from.

Smth smth cute about Dorcas being SUPER competitive with Marlene in everything at camp, smth smth, Barty meeting Evan Rosier at camp haha

anyway, Black Brother reunion!! does not go well, smth smth both camps realise about each other!!

Have to band together to defeat an enemy.

Since James and the others cant go to their camp, Regulus, Dorcas and Barty decide to stay to vanquish the threat of the Dark Lord only to discover that some of their own camp members are on the bad side (Luke Castellan's side)

smth smth, battle!! Regulus and Barty join the bad side while Dorcas stays.

Regulus discovers the weaknesses of the Dark Lord and dies while trying to destroy it.

Sirius and James who had been dating Regulus in secret, are both devastated. smth smth!!

final battle!! By this time, James and Lily have been dating, they're like young tho, and James has conflicting feelings about the battle cause he keeps imagining Regulus to be one of the enemy but he's yk dead.

Blahblah blah, Peter betrays them, James and Lily die, but they have a son who will go on to permanently destroy the threat forever and ever, the end everyone you love is dead!

There are many reasons why I don't like Pandora being a Rosier but the main one is that there isn't much wiggle room with it

When I first joined this fandom my hc for Pandora was that her maiden name was Jenkins because in the first fic i read that was her name (and she had a younger sister who will always remain one of my favourite characters ever) At that time not many people cared about Pandora, this was before people started headcannoning her to be friends with Regulus and the Slytherin Skittles were a thing

When the discussion of Pandoras maiden name began I couldn't really get on board with what people were suggesting, mostly because a lot of the names were names that belonged to characters we already knew, like Rosier, Lestrange, Malfoy, Ollivander i even saw a few Pandora Lupin headcanons. I didn't like having her be related to a character we already knew I kinda just wanted to see her as her own person without any resemblance to other characters (I thought the same about Alice too for a while)

I've since changed my mind on that and my main headcannon for Pandora is that she's an Ollivander. I think it suites her well and that having someone who experiments with spells be the daughter/granddaughter of a wandmaker makes sense and gives potential for Pandora to have an interesting backstory

But the death eater families I can just never get behind. It automatically gives her a storyline which is already canonically other characters. The whole growing up in a purist family and then leaving is kinda the Blacks thing and part of me also likes the idea that the Blacks are just pure chaos and can't keep their kids in line when everyone else is acting perfect

It is also very much because I don't like the idea of Pandora being the sister of Lucius or Rodophus and Rabastan and Evan

The Pandora and Evan being siblings hc I especially dislike, partly because I just don't like what it does to both of their characters. Evan in my mind will always be a complete dickhead who was always a purist and always a wanker and I cant see that when Pandora is standing by him as his sister. I see them as friends but in my hcs Pandora isn't just friends with the Slytherins but also with Edgar, Amelia, Benjy, Caradoc, Fabian and Gideon from her own year and because of that she's able to easily cut Barty, Evan and Regulus off the moment they start showing signs of acting on their prejudice, unlike Dorcas who didn't have any other friends and was really holding and hoping to the idea that they would change their minds

On top of that I can't see anything that we get from the Rosier twins that we don't get from any other siblings in the era. Like we already have the Black brother, Black sisters, Bones twins, Prewett siblings, Carrow twins, Lestrange brothers and Evans sisters who all have elements that have been ignored and given to the Rosiers. From ending up on different sides of the war, to being separated by magic, to one of them dying during the war and leaving the other, to even being low-key incest. There's nothing new that they bring to the table.

(and that's only from the cannon siblings. We still have so many characters that we know had siblings like Marlene or characters with the same last name who could be siblings like Hestia and Gwenog Jones and Olivia and Toby Gleves)

And I hateeeee what this does to Pandoras character it reminds me of how Marlenes character was created. Instead of Pandora being someone based on what we know about her in cannon (which isn't much but still) she's been crafted to best suite the men that we've put around her (Evan, Barty and Regulus) Like we don't even talk about her and Xeno anymore who she literally marrys and has a kid with

Also I cannot see Pandora as being younger then The Marauders. In my hcs Pandora is a year above the Marauders while Evan and Dorcas are in the same year as them and Barty and Regulus are in the year below, I simply cannot see it any other way

Yeah there aren't many headcanons that would stop me from reading a fic but this is definitely one of them. There is nobody I hate more then Pandora Rosier
