It is August 29, 2024 and McDonald’s Singapore had just released not one but two new variations of the classic McSpicy burger. I have mainly kept away from the McSpicy since it was introduced in Singapore in 1999 because just like name, it is over spicy for me. It is not nicknamed McLaoSai / McDiarrhea for nothing as quite a few customers get stomach upset due to the extra spiciness. Over the years, I have tried it a few more times and I have noticed that the heat level has since been adjusted down. So here I am, bringing you the reviews of the all-new Sweet BBQ McSpicy with Egg & Cheese and Sweet BBQ McSpicy with Chicken Bacon.

Went straight for the Sweet BBQ McSpicy with Egg & Cheese Special (S$8.90) that comes with the burger, Crisscut Fries and a soft drink which I changed to a small Ice Green Tea (topped up S$0.75). Opening the box, I can see the cutlet of fried chicken thigh, sitting on a fried egg topped with melty cheese, sweet BBQ crème sauce and ample crisp lettuce. All these are sandwiched between soft, glazed sesame seeds buns. First bite impression, crispy juicy chicken with plenty of the sweet and smoky sauce dripping all over my hands. That fiery heat is now more manageable, and I am finally enjoying it with the cheese and egg combo.

The next day, I ordered the Sweet BBQ McSpicy with Chicken Bacon Special (S$8.90) which lack the egg and cheese but comes with a few strips of chicken bacon. Topped up S$1.15 to change the gassy drink to a medium Ice Lemon Tea. I still get that crispy chicken thigh patty and smoky BBQ crème sauce with crisp lettuce. The bacon add a crunch factor to the crispy chicken thigh. Maybe adding on the bacon to the Sweet BBQ McSpicy with Egg & Cheese would make it an even better burger.

Bought mum the Extra Value Meal of Filet-O-Fish (S$5.50) with medium French fries and a small drink. She loves the fluffy soft buns with the fried fish fillet. She didn’t care for the drink, so I left it in the fridge and drank it the next day.

Usually, I offer to take people into the city on their birthday. I'm kinda... bad with gifts, to be honest. My brain just doesn't work that way, I guess.

YOU ARE ASKING THE CORRECT PERSON! My family is a brunch family so I've done quite a lot of thinking:

French Toast - but this is conditional on the fact that the toast REALLY needs to be soaked with the egg liquid, and ngl, taking off the crusts is actually a god tier method to having more consistent, fluffier, french toast. Use the crusts as breadcrumbs to bread potatoes for house fries/hashbrowns.

Eggs Benedict - Yeah, I'm pretentious? What of it? It's like, the perfect balance of carbs, meat, egg, sauce. That's really all you need in a dish.

Sausages - THIS is your breakfast flavour bomb. With breakfast foods, you're either fitting the sweet flavour profile or the eggy flavour profile. but SAUSAGES give some SPICE. SAUSAGES give some SALT. And if you're eating very carb-heavy or protein-heavy breakfast meals, you almost want some of the fattiness as a way to cut those dense flavours.

Pancakes - This part of the post is dedicated to my homie shucaisan for always reminding me to eat some delicious pancakes. I personally think crepes also fall under this umbrella, but it's important to note that a pancake is only as good as its toppings, which is why french toast is so far ahead on this list. The goodness of french toast is INSIDE the french toast. But pancakes have to work a little bit harder to bring out the joy in the fluffiness of the pancake. I'm Canadian, maple syrup is the best option, (with whipped cream) but I've seen some really interesting pancake setups with various dessert syrups and choccy chips and graham crackers.

Fresh berries - A wholesome breakfast is not complete without fresh fruit, and honestly, what's better than a berry? You have varieties so all of your breakfast guests can have something they like, The Strawberry/Blackberry/Raspberry/Blueberry mix is unrivaled, but I know my mother is partial to these little round orange berries called gooseberries.

I tried the Son Of Baconator Burger and it was pretty good.

This burger was microwaved.

The Son Of Baconator Burger was pretty good.

The buns were soft but the were a little thin due to the size of this burger.

The burger meat was firm and soft while well seasoned.

The bacon was firm and thick cut while a little crunchy in texture while also small since this burger is mini sized.

The ketchup and mayo was lightly sweet and went well with the light salty burger.

This burger was lightly sweet and salty while also not heavy feeling like the normal sized baconator.

This felt like a kids meal sized version of the baconator while also less in calories.

I would eat this burger again.

I tried the Wendy's Triple Berry Frosty small size and it was pretty good.

This frosty was smooth and creamy while also having a light mixed berry taste to it but doesn't taste artificial tasting to me.

This tasted like if the cereal boo berry was blended in a frozen dessert form.

This was lightly sweet but not overly sweet to me.

This is just Wendy's version of the Grimace shake but in Frosty form and people are sleeping on it saying it's gross tasting even though it's not.

It's like a light sweet version of the Grimace shake.

I would eat this again.

This is the summer seasonal flavor that replaced the strawberry flavor.
