The Jock Spell
With bated breath and blurry vision, Jeremy(?) stumbled over to the nearest mirror in the locker room. He looked at himself in the mirror while using the counter to hold himself up, and his jaw dropped when he saw his reflection.
“No, this wasn’t supposed to happen… Is that me?”

A couple of weeks ago, Jeremy Nguyen was just an average nerd with nothing particularly remarkable about him. He had a deep interest in all things fantasy-related. He graduated from college with relatively high marks and worked as a science teacher at his old high school. It wasn’t an exciting life by any means, but Jeremy was content with his simple, happy life.
Aside from his usual nerdy hobbies, Jeremy had also started regularly hitting the gym ever since the new year rolled around. Sure he couldn’t lift more than 10 pounds and got tired after only about 8 minutes of light cardio, but it was the thought that counts. Not that it really mattered to Jeremy anyway. He wasn’t interested in becoming a full-blown gym rat or anything like that. Jeremy only started exercising so that his doctor wouldn’t give him yet another lecture about his health during his yearly physical.
Jeremy pulled up to the gym one early afternoon. He normally went to the gym at night due to his busy work schedule as a teacher. However, thanks to an obscure local holiday, the schools were closed and he had the day off. Jeremy decided to switch up his usual routine and work out in the afternoon instead. He walked inside, did his warm-up stretching, and began his workout with some light hammer curls. The gym was surprisingly very packed that afternoon, especially compared to how empty it was at night. There were people everywhere!
As Jeremy continued his workout, he noticed his gaze kept coming back to one particular man just across the free weights area from him.


The guy was absolutely jacked from head to toe! Standing at 6’2” tall, he made a lot of other people in the gym look tiny by comparison. Jeremy watched with great awe as the muscular Adonis hit shoulders with dumbbells he could only ever dream of lifting off the ground, let alone work out with!
However, despite the man’s amazing physique, Jeremy wasn’t attracted to him. He never liked the muscular look in men. Wasn’t really his type at all. Yet at the same time, Jeremy couldn’t stop looking at him for some reason. The man looked vaguely familiar. Jeremy racked his brain but couldn’t place his finger on it. It was weird. He tried ignoring him and just focusing on his workout, but then the man did something that made him remember exactly who he was. Near them was an overweight man who was struggling to get through a rep with just the barbell. The man watched him from afar and sneered like it was the funniest thing in the world. It was that cocky smirk that made bad old memories come flooding back in.
The man’s name was Jared Taylor.
That name and the arrogant smile that came with it haunted Jeremy for most of his teen years. To put it shortly, they had the stereotypical high school jock bully/scrawny nerd relationship you see in movies and TV. Jared loved teasing and making fun of others. Especially quiet nerds like Jeremy who played Pokémon in class after already finishing their work. Needless to say, Jeremy hated Jared with a passion. He was thrilled to finally be rid of the bastard when they graduated and went their separate ways. Jeremy went to study chemistry while Jared continued playing for some college football team.
Jeremy never would’ve expected to see his former high school bully back in town. Thankfully, it didn’t seem like Jared recognized him (you would think he would after tormenting him for 4 years…) Plus, Jeremy always went to the gym during the nighttime anyway. He wouldn’t have to worry about seeing Jared Taylor ever again!
Or so he thought.
Much to Jeremy’s dismay, he kept seeing Jared every time he went to the gym. It didn’t matter if he went late at night or early in the morning before work, Jared was there— working out with some of the heaviest dumbbells the gym had to offer.
Jeremy tried shrugging it off as mere coincidence, but his patience grew dangerously thin with every passing day he saw him. Jared’s cocky smile. His dominating presence. His haughty laugh just screamed, “I’m bigger, stronger, and just overall better than you!” Jared was already bad enough in high school, but he had only seen to have gotten worse with age!
Then, on a random Saturday, Jeremy decided he had finally had enough. It was time someone stepped up and knocked the arrogant asshole down a peg or two. And who better to do it than the nerd he loved bullying every day?
And so, Jeremy devised a plan to rid Jared of the one thing he loved more than trolling: his muscles. Jeremy scoured through his massive collection of fantasy books and trinkets, searching for the magic he would need to pull off his plan. There were plenty of naysayers who didn't believe in magical powers, but Jeremy was never one of those muggles. He believed in magic ever since he was a kid and never stopped, even as he grew up.
After extensive searching, Jeremy finally found a very old book of spells from back when he used to play D&D. The book puffed out a cloud of dust as Jeremy opened it for the first time in forever. An eerie smile emerged on Jeremy’s face as he read up on a spell designed to reverse a character’s stats and build. It was exactly what he needed to get revenge on Jared.
Once he memorized how to perform the spell, Jeremy left for the gym that same night. Just as expected, Jared was there too.

Luckily for Jeremy, the gym was empty that Saturday night, save for about a dozen people. The fewer potential witnesses, the better.
Jared was busy hitting shoulders in the free weights area. Jeremy positioned himself so that he was just across from him in the cardio section. He had a clear shot of him. Once he was sure there was absolutely nobody watching, Jeremy set his plan into action. He used his fingernail to scratch the tip of his pointer finger until he bled out a couple of drops, then smeared it with his thumb and forefinger. Once that was done, Jeremy focused on his target and recited the spell.

Jeremy’s finger shined a brilliant red as he finished casting the spell. A beam of light shot out of him as soon as he recited the last syllable, heading directly towards Jared. Jeremy smiled maniacally, knowing he was finally going to get his revenge after years of torment, though unfortunately, his pleasure was only short-lived. His smile faded as he watched Jared bend over to pick up a dumbbell, causing the spell to miss its intended target. Instead, the light hit the mirror, ricocheted, and hit Jeremy square in the chest, knocking him off the treadmill.
God-DAMN IT!! How could I mess up such an easy shot!?
Jeremy writhed in agony. He couldn’t believe his plan failed just because of a little timing slip-up. Red with embarrassment, Jeremy forced himself to get up despite the great pain he was in. As he rushed over to the guy’s locker room to hide himself, the spell activated.
Jeremy held his arms to his stomach as an intense wave of nausea washed over him. A strange warmth was radiating from his torso. His walking speed slowed as Jeremy found himself suddenly struggling to breathe. Low groans and growls escaped his mouth as his chicken legs exploded with body mass growth. It felt like his legs were on fire! The muscle fibers in his legs broke down and grew back rapidly until he had legs as strong and thick as a horse. Confused at what was going on, Jeremy looked down and audibly gasped when he saw his upper body transforming right before his very eyes.
His chest puffed out as his pectorals grew and grew until he had a nice, firm set of daddy milkers. His shoulder span nearly doubled in length as the muscles in his back rapidly tore and regrew back within a matter of minutes. His arms thickened and hardened with muscle mass too. His once pencil-thin arms had become absolute cannons with biceps the size of melons and veins throbbing with strength. With a set of washboard abs to boot, Jeremy had become an insanely ripped bodybuilder— completely unrecognizable from his former skinny and weak nerd self.


“Nnnn… What’s happening to me…!?” Jeremy huffed out a moan as forced himself to keep moving. He powered through the transformation pain and made it to the locker room where he could be alone. With bated breath and blurry vision, Jeremy stumbled over to the nearest mirror in the locker room. He looked at himself in the mirror while using the counter to hold himself up, and his jaw dropped when he saw his reflection.
“No, this wasn’t supposed to happen… Is that me? And since when did I become so… Jacked?”
Jeremy’s shocked expression morphed into a grin as he inspected his new body. Although he was never a fan of the muscular jock look, his tone quickly changed now that he was the buff one admiring himself in the mirror. He was practically purring with delight as he ran his hands over his arms, savoring the feeling of new, firm muscle on his body. Jeremy's original nerdy personality began fading away with every flex of his new muscles, leaving space for his new cocky gym bro attitude.
Then, wanting to get an even better look at his body, Jeremy stripped down to just his underwear.
“Heheheh… Just LOOK AT MY MUSCLES BRO! I’M A GREEK GOD NOW!”

His voice boomed with newfound confidence as he spent well over half an hour just checking himself out. As he struck the double bicep pose, a sudden head pain brought Jeremy back down to reality.
“Huh? What the hell am I doing?” Jeremy thought to himself. He massaged his forehead as he thought about the answer to his own question. However, the more he thought about it, the more questions about who he was began to pop up.
“Who am I? What’s my name? What do I like? What do I dislike?”
He thought long and hard, but couldn’t find anything. It was like his own brain had been enshrouded in a deep fog. He kept thinking and thinking until for a brief moment, he had a glimpse of what seemed like an old memory. He was… Jeremy Nguyen? And he liked… video games, anime, and fantasy books—
He shook his head. There was no way that description was right. He wasn’t a fucking nerd. Far from it. He took a deep breath and tried remembering his identity again. This time, the correct info came flowing in like water.
His name was Isaac Nguyen and to him, working out wasn’t just a hobby but a lifestyle and a passion. He played football both in high school and in college, then dedicated his time and energy to bodybuilding once he graduated. His body was like a golden medal to him. It was his pride and joy, and he loved nothing more than getting a good pump and flexing in the mirror whenever he had the chance.


With his new identity securely established in his mind and spirit, Isaac stepped out of the locker room to finish his upper body workout for the day. As he made his way to the free weights area, he noticed some scrawny dude with glasses struggling to curl a 10-pound dumbbell. Isaac had to stifle a laugh as he walked past him.
“Heh, can’t even lift the beginner weight, what a fucking loser… Bet he spends all his time playing video games with his other dork friends. God, I can’t stand these kinds of dudes…”
As Isaac finished that thought, he ran into an old friend he hadn’t seen in a long time.
“Oh shit, Jared! Where ya been, bro!?”
“Long time no see, man! Looking swole as always, big guy!!” Jared responded.
The two men pulled each other in for a bro hug. As they pulled away, Isaac felt himself hating the man he just shook hands with. It was weird. Like he had some sort of deep-rooted resentment against Jared. But that couldn’t possibly be right. Isaac and Jared were best bros since they joined the football team together back in freshman year of high school. They were basically the kings of the school back in the day!
Yes, that’s right… Isaac was a jock, just like Jared. He had always been one. Never a nerd.

Jun-ho was captivated when he first saw you
It was as if time had momentarily paused, the bustling sounds of the gym fading into a distant hum. You were there, effortlessly moving through your routine, your focus unwavering as you executed each exercise with ease. The early morning light streamed through the large windows, casting a warm glow around you, and highlighting the sweat etched on your face. Jun-ho felt himself in awe for the first time.
After a prolonged hiatus from physical activity, he had spent days convincing himself to return to the gym, following his doctor's advice to slowly add exercise into his routine.
When he finally gathered the resolve to step back into that world, he chose the early morning hours, when the gym was blissfully quiet and only a few people scattered around. It allowed him to ease back into his workouts.
It wasn't that he felt insecure about his physique; rather, he found it difficult to endure the stars directed at his injury. It served as a constant reminder of the whole situation. He could almost hear the whispers of concern and curiosity from those around him, their eyes flickering to his injury before darting away, leaving him feeling exposed and vulnerable.
But then, there you were, looking so beautiful. As you moved from one machine to another, with your small duffle bag that had pretty small bows attached to the zipper. He watched as you did every rep and set of your workout.
With each passing moment, he felt his heart race—not just from the physical exertion of his workout, but from seeing you pass him without a second glance as you reach for the dumbbells.
He was okay with admiring you from afar, you didn’t seem like the talkative type anyway. He would watch men his age try to shoot their shot with a smug smile, only to be either painfully rejected or completely ignored. That was enough for him to keep his distance, not wanting to meet the same fate. He overheard one of them saying you worked as a criminal defense lawyer and he grew curious about your occupation. He’d met several as a detective but had never seen you before. Maybe you were new, you looked like you were in your late 20’s and he had to guess you were 26 at the very least.
Jun-ho knew next to nothing about you, yet he found himself admiring you as you exercised in the tranquil hours of the morning. The soft glow of the rising sun painted the sky in hues of orange and pink, casting a warm light on your movements. Despite this growing crush of his, he recognized that he should put his attention towards his responsibilities. He knew his feelings would lead to things he wasn’t sure he was ready to face, but the thought of you lingered on his mind like a tattoo.
It wasn’t until someone came up to you that he would make his move.
He watched as another man made his way up to you, and a wave of unease washed over him. He remained rooted in place as a man tapped your shoulder just as you stepped off the machine, your body glistening with sweat. You had an exhausted look on your face, still trying to catch your breath from the intense workout. Jun-ho noticed the way your lips pressed together, a line of confusion forming between your brows. The man’s hand rested on your shoulder, rubbing it gently back and forth.
Jun-ho could sense your discomfort with the man's touch, and just as he started to approach, your eyes darted to him, your eyes wide with urgency. The gesture was a clear signal, a plea for help. He felt a surge of adrenaline, his heart racing as he took a step forward, walking towards you.
The man, oblivious to the tension building in the air, continued his casual pat, a smirk playing on his lips as if he were simply engaging in friendly banter. But Jun-ho could see the way your body tensed, the slight flinch of your shoulder under the man's hand. It was a subtle but unmistakable sign that you wanted him to stop, that this interaction was making you uncomfortable.
“Hey” Jun-ho called out, his voice firm yet steady, cutting through the quiet music echoing in the gym. The man turned, his expression shifting from casual amusement to mild annoyance as he registered Jun-ho’s presence. “I think she’s uninterested,” Jun-ho added, stepping closer, his posture protective. He could feel the heat radiating from your skin, the lingering effects of the workout mingling with the discomfort of the situation.
You looked at Jun-ho, your eyes searching for reassurance, and he gave a tiny nod in return. The man’s smirk faltered, and he raised an eyebrow, clearly taken aback by the sudden confrontation. “What’s your problem?” he shot back, his tone defensive, but Jun-ho could see the uncertainty flickering behind his supposed tough facade.
“The problem is that she doesn’t want to be touched by you,” Jun-ho replied, his voice steady, unwavering. He could feel the tension in the air, as the other gym-goers began to take notice of the unfolding scene. The man looked away embarrassed, his jaw clenching as he looked at Jun-ho.
“Just mind your business dude, I wasn’t doing anything wrong.�� He scowled, his fingers were tightened into a fist, and he reluctantly released his grip on you.
You gave him an incredulous look before scoffing. “You got mad at me for saying to fuck off, refusing to let go of me.”
“C’mon quit being such a bitch, you’re just playing hard to get.” Jun-ho had just enough time to stop you from punching the dude, pulling you back by your waist. The man gasped in shock as you attempted to land a punch on him. It wasn’t long before one of the other seven people in the gym called security on him, who then escorted him out. He left out a series of profanities at you and the male beside you.
The gym had begun to go back to its usual routine and Jun-ho was beginning to awkwardly walk away before he heard you call out to him.
Thank you for that,” you say, feeling warmth rise to your cheeks. Naturally, your first encounter with your gym crush of two months involved him intervening just as you were about to punch someone. He nervously rubbed the back of his neck, trying to ease his nervousness. You found yourself fidgeting with your fingers, offering him a timid smile.
Jun-ho was a total wreck as you looked up at him, His dark hair fell slightly over his forehead, and you could see the faintest hint of a blush creeping up his cheeks, mirroring your own. The way he shifted his weight from one foot to the other made him seem almost boyish, a stark contrast to the muscular physique that had caught your eye in the first place.
“Uh, I just thought you might need some help,” he stammered, his voice a mix of sincerity and nervousness. You could tell he was trying to play it cool, but the way his eyes darted around the gym, avoiding direct contact with yours, revealed his unease. It was endearing, really, and you couldn’t help but feel a warm, fluttery feeling in your stomach.
“Yeah, I really appreciate it,” you replied, your voice barely above a whisper. Only four months ago had you begun to go to the gym before work, finding it therapeutic and a way to release stress. Then you began to notice the quiet male who stayed away in one corner of the gym, having his headphones on most of the time which left you hesitant to go up to him.
Jun-ho nodded, his expression softening as he finally met your gaze. “No he was making you uncomfortable but maybe go about a different tactic.” His words made you laugh out of embarrassment. There was a moment of silence before you both spoke in unison.
“Can I have-”

You and Jun-ho looked at each other with surprise and you let out a laugh. He quickly followed with a chuckle before asking you again.
“Can I have your number and possibly go out for dinner?” He asked with a shy smile. You nodded quickly as you took out your phone.
Your heart raced as you felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. This was unexpected, yet it felt right. You glanced up at him, catching the way his eyes sparkled with anticipation.

“Relax, man. She’s probably not even thinking about it,” Todd tried to calm him down, noticing Dave rubbing his forehead and checking his pulse.
“She is. She is, Todd. She's so fucking perfect and I just said do you wanna share like a total moron.” He whimpered, scratching his head.
“So, what’s the plan now? Glutes?” Todd chuckled, but Dave’s eyes lit up.“No… don’t tell me—are you serious?”
“I’m doing everything. It’s important for testosterone production,” Dave mumbled, walking over to the hip abduction machine and staring at it like it was some alien contraption. “Shit… I have no idea how this thing works.”
He sat down, looking around desperately for help—any help—praying for someone to rescue him. “Hey, God. I know i haven't been the best dude on earth, but please. I really need help, i need to do it. Send someone. Anyone. Just don't send a scary dude, please.”

“Just starting?” you inquired, placing your water bottle on the holder.
“Uh… yeah, I… uh, wanna try?” he murmured, blinking in slight panic as he stood up from the machine to let you take over. You smiled, taking the opportunity and settling in to begin your exercise.
And God, Dave had to muster every ounce of self-control not to stare at your legs or the muscles working with precision, he didn't even want to mention the word glutes because it seemed so fucking wrong in this moment. He turned to face the wall instead.
“These atoms are… amazing. Science is really evolving these days!” he blurted to the man next to him, pointing at the wall. “I’ve never seen anything like it. Is it some kind of new cement?”
“It’s plaster,” the guy replied, frowning in confusion before returning to his workout. “Weirdo.”
Dave turned back toward you, forcing himself to focus on your face. But then he saw you finishing and standing to the side. He had no choice now but to actually use the machine. Swallowing hard, he sat down.
“This can’t be that hard,” he whispered to himself, loading the machine with the maximum weight. He tried to open his legs, but the machine didn’t budge an inch.

You mentioned deadlifting to prevent wrist and back pain/injury when drawing👀 I was wondering if you could share your workout routine if you haven’t already?
Definitely!! I love talkin about it haha. And I'll preface that this is just what I do, but if you want a professional's advice, I've heard good things about the book Draw Stronger by Kriota Willberg.
Tony and I usually work out 5/6 days a week, three days of lifting and two or three days of cardio, with at least one rest day a week. I always make sure to do a cardio warm up before lifting, between 15-30 minutes of either the stationary bike or rowing machine. That's what I have available, you can also run or do jump rope or whatever gets you goin'! Sometimes when it's a just-cardio day we go for long walks and talk about work. Good stuff gets done on those walks 👍
Our lifting routine is arm day, leg day, shoulder day, and we usually do 5x5 sets of everything-- so five sets of five reps per workout.
I sprinkle in farmer's walks really often, which are the best for wrist strength!! Especially if deadlifts are too intimidating (deadlifts are super good for your grip strength and back, but can be a bit scary because it's usually a high weight.) You just hold a weight in one hand, pretty much the highest weight you can hold while keeping your shoulders level, and walk in figure 8's (for balance) until your arm gives out. Then switch arms. Any time my hand starts to feel iffy, I do more farmer's walks and it helps!
More specifics under the cut:
On arm days we do mostly bench press and bent-over dumbbell rows, sometimes with abs worked in (I like to do windshield wipers or whatever it's called, where I hold the bar like I'm doing a bench press then bring my legs up on either side until my abs give out.)
For leg days, we do barbell squat and deadlifts. It's also fun to do the slam balls as part of leg day >:] Where you pick up a heavy ball and throw it down and scoop it up in a squatlike motion. It's a fun one!
There's ALSO a time-efficient leg workout I do when we're on deadlines where you do three minutes of wall sits in total, and can take as many breaks as you need, but for every break you do ten bodyweight squats. It usually leaves me feeling like jello.
Shoulder days are focused on lat pull-downs for me and pull-ups for Tony (I can only do pull-ups with a counterweight ToT), then shoulder press (where you sit up and lift a weight over your head.) It's good to pair opposite motions like pushing/pulling! I think we also tend to do bicep curls on these days? They're a grab-bag of whatever extra stuff we want to do.
This schedule is not super rigorous, but is enough that I push myself to do something almost every day while usually not being so exhausted that it cuts into my work. It's the kind of thing that I can keep up for the rest of my life, which is what I'm interested in! Maintaining a routine to protect my joints and mobility for as long as I can ✌️
I used to see working out and the gym in general as something I was punishing myself with, and that meant it was a miserable part of my day and working myself up to it was a mentally exhausting task. But Tony has been really helpful in shifting the way I view working out as something more like regular maintenance, and of course it helps that I found something I could work towards getting better at, which is strength training!
So while I recommend that artists work in some arm strength exercises, I do feel it's about finding something that feels like a part of your routine rather than something you dread doing every day.

Wonyoung : Inspired Full Workout Routine


If you’ve ever admired Jang Wonyoung’s long, toned figure and effortless stage presence, you’re not alone cuz same . As one of the most well-known K-pop idols, she maintains a lean yet strong physique while performing intense choreography and balancing a busy schedule. While Wonyoung hasn’t publicly shared her full workout routine, we can get a good idea of what she likely does by looking at the types of training that help idols stay fit in some shows
This workout is inspired by a mix of dance, strength training, and flexibility exercises focusing on toning the body while keeping things light and graceful. If you want to flexibility ... this routine will help you build endurance, improve posture, and tone your body without gaining excessive muscle !

ㅤ۪ㅤ۫ ꪆ୧ Warm-up (10 minutes) – wake up ur body!
Before getting into the main workout, a proper warm-up is essential to prevent injuries and improve performance. This warm-up gets your blood flowing and preps your muscles for movement.
1. Jumping Jacks (2 minutes)
Start with classic jumping jacks to get your heart rate up.
Move your arms fully overhead for a full-body effect.
2. Dynamic Stretching (5 minutes)
Leg Swings – Hold onto a chair or wall and swing one leg forward and backward (10 reps each leg).

March or jog in place while bringing your knees as high as possible.
