I don't think I have autism. I look at people's eyes. Of course, not at their eyes, eyes, that's just a metaphor, no one would do that. But their eyebrows. See? That's normal behavior, decoding metaphors and making eye contact.

HOUSE IS AUTISTIC.

They acknowledge it in S3 E4. Wilson heavily suggests to Cuddy that House has Asperger syndrome, but they decide that he can't possibly because he's just a jerk.

Let autistic people be jerks. Let autistic people be assholes WITHOUT USING AUTISM AS AN EXCUSE. IM AN ASSHOLE SOMETIMES. NOT BECAUSE IM AUTISTIC, IM JUST A PRICK. Yes I understand that one of the reasons for him being such a dickhead is because of his leg, he's in pain all the time. But thats even more of a reason to believe that it is a separate issue.

They say that he wants to relate to the kid because then he can get away with being a dick, but he does relate to the kid. He hates change, he thrives on consistency, he needs stimulation or he gets bored and frustrated, he isolates himself- and when he does have to interact, it's with the same people he sees everyday.

House can be autistic AND an asshole. Those two things do not cancel each other out.

(Edit: as a disabled autistic person, I see myself in House in ways that I never have in canonically autistic characters. I am aware it's never confirmed in the show. I am aware that not everyone agrees with this headcanon, and genuinely that is all it is, a headcanon. I'm not Hugh Laurie. This was just a rant about how House is treated while showing, what I and many other people, including characters inside the show, view as symptoms of ASD or other such disorders. i don't understand why people shit on the good doctor

yeah the autism representation is not perfect, it never going to be cuase it's a spectrum. But it's not the worst?

i hear people say they infantilize Shaun but it's said time and time again that Shaun can do things on his own and even told directly to people in the show and to the audience as a result that we don't need to cuddle Shaun.

It's like the criticism of the first trans episode being transphobic. as a trans person myself, i don't think the ep was transphobic but i had transphobia as part of the events and message of the ep. just cuase it shows the bad stuff, it doesn't mean it is actually condoning it.

and outside of the rep or minorities, it's a damn good show

it makes me feel things, i fuckin cried in some of the episodes

the sound design, AAH the MUSIC it's soft and light and fluffy and feels good and yet it using music to bring out emotion and makes big moments bigger.

i don't like how in the Guatemala special episodes they made it all orange and brown like they do in 3rd world counties, or what americans think any country is outside of Europe. they do that shit to mexico and southern california. I live in socal and it is not brown, well the ground is during the summer but you know what i mean

this is one of my favorite shows, David Shore was made two of my mine now, The Good Doctor and House. Two autistics as leads, one being intentional lol

and yeah it sucks that the actor of shaun isn't autistic, but it's funny that both house and good doctor leads are british and i bet alot people don't know lol

i just came to the realization that david shore created house md and the good doctor and house and shaun are literally on opposite sides of the autism AND the character goodness spectrum. shaun is literally “the good doctor” and house is like “the evil doctor.” top 10 anime battles but make it evil autism vs good autism do medical malpractice.

the david shore medical malpractice universe is literally just this.
