House to Cameron: Why would you feel sorry for someone who gets to opt out of the inane courteous formalities which are utterly meaningless, insincere and therefore degrading? This kid doesn't have to pretend to be interested in your back pain or your excretions or your grandma's itchy place. Can you imagine how liberating it would be to live a life free of all the mind-numbing social niceties? I don't pity this kid, I envy him.
Cuddy to Wilson: House doesn't have Asperger's, diagnosis is much simpler; he's a jerk.
Wilson to House: You're not autistic; you don't even have Asperger's. You wish you did, it would exempt you from the rules, give you freedom, absolve you of responsibility, let you date 17-yr-olds. But most important it would mean that you're not just a jerk.

So why DID house want his bloody carpet back?
The entire episode reads ‘house has autism, here are parallels between him and his patient, actual empathy, his resistance to change and fixation on random things, and difficulty in establishing relationships.
Wait, lmao, not really, that was would affect the ratings and associate him with bazinga man, he’s just an asshole, promise!’
Like, House IS an asshole. He KNOWS he’s an asshole. He says the things he says on purpose. But autistic people can be assholes because they’re assholes and not because they’re innocently unaware of social demands.
Nice episode.

i think the only way i can agree, in any way beyond cute/pretty fan art, with the "they should be able to take their helmets off" thing is that i think there should be a caveat where they should be allowed to take their helmets off around their own without breaching the Creed
like they should be able to sit together by the fire where it's warm and eat together and sing merry songs and joke and tell stories about their adventures
and i think they should be able to smile at their children and kiss their lovers and make funny faces at their siblings
one's clan/community is as vital a part of the Creed as one's armor is, and while they seem to be fine in-universe making do without these elements of family, it does seem very lonely to think about
maintaining that being without one's helmet outside of the covert is forbidden is great -- their helmets keep them anonymous and keep them protected. but i can't come up for a single reason why they shouldn't have the choice of being without them in their own home
i still do very much like the way they've adapted, culturally, to living with their helmets on around others. the adapted body language and language and tone. the customs. and i think there's great potential for fan fiction regarding that tension/desire/lack of touch/expressing their love without showing their faces. but i'd be ok if they count only take their helmets off around each other.

Broadchurch (2013–2017) S3E4
Trish relives the night of the party, including her row with Ian and chat with the kitchen staff whilst the police discover that convicted rapist Aaron Mayford now lives in the area. Ellie and Hardy visit him but, whilst he is defensive, he is persuasive as to an alibi. They also learn from Beth that Trish found a bouquet on her doorstep the previous night with a message of hope and from Cath that her marriage to Jim is on the rocks, leading to the identification of Trish's anonymous sex partner and that of the sender of the email. Then Laura, another rape victim, comes forward whilst Mark tries to involve Paul in his quest to track down Joe Miller.

Okay, Ben and Fei walk across the foyer, into the hallway connecting, and then into Reginald's little area. But Reginald's area has a skylight? Despite being on the ground floor and having rooms above it (the children's rooms are above that area). I hate this house, it makes no fucking sense.

I saw a gifset THIS MORNING giffing the scene in House S3E4 with the following exchange between House and Cuddy:
Cuddy: She's dangerous! House: She's not dangerous. Cuddy: She's pretty. House: She's pretty. Cuddy: Men are stupid. House: I'm with you so far.
but I can't find the gifset again!! I want to reblog it...
If anyone has it please tell me!
(It was also potentially a video.)

one of the things i'm so nervous about with s3e6 is that i 100% don't think we're going to get to see the rest of the "break up" conversation between wilhelm and simon. which means the start of the episode will have us all being super tense to know what actually happened and where they stand.
because that's the way the show works. it's a pattern. whenever we get an episode ending with any kind of cliffhanger, the next episode doesn't start with that same scene, it is always a later scene and we sometimes get explanations in that scene, and we sometimes get them even later, and we sometimes never get an explanation at all.
s1e1 -> s1e2: they lean towards each other at the party. the next episode begins with the on the table scene. did they kiss??? no, but we don't learn that until the end of s1e2.
s1e2 -> s1e3: they kiss. the next episode begins 3 days later. what happened after the kiss??? we never learn.
s1e5 -> s1e6: the video gets leaked. the next episode begins with Wilhelm and Simon in their own rooms. did Wilhelm tell Simon at the event??? we never learn.
s2e4 -> s2e5: Wilhelm and Simon kiss at the ball. the next episode begins with them both thinking about each other. did Simon still go to Marcus' house like planned??? no, we learn later in the episode.
s2e6 -> s3e1: Wilhelm's speech and Sara calling the police. the next episode begins with the legal negotiations. what was the immediate fallout of both the speech and the police report??? we never learn.
s3e4 -> s3e5: Wilhelm and August talking about Erik. the next episode begins with Wilhelm walking through the Palace. did they actually talk in therapy??? did they discuss Erik at all after this??? no, i don't think so, but we aren't actually ever told.
these are some of the more obvious examples i could quickly remember. but they make up my point nonetheless. the only times i can remember us getting any kind of immediate following scene are:
s1e4 -> s1e5: with Wilmon still in bed together. (but this ignores the whole August side-plot of the end of s1e4 which isn't acknowledged again until later in the episode, so it only mostly counts)
s2e3 -> s2e4: probably the MOST direct following scene despite how short it is. Wilhelm texting Felice that he doesn't think Henry will tell anyone.
s2e5 -> s2e6: similar to the s1 one, Wilmon are still together in Wilhelm's room.
so yeah. i'm nervous because i truly don't think that s3e6 is going to start where s3e5 left off. so we're going to walk into the episode with NO IDEA where Wilmon stand with each other, and that is, I think, the scariest part of this whole thing.

Analysis of the Shared Character Traits of Colin & Penelope Bridgerton
I love how Bridgerton explores both the strengths and challenges of Colin and Penelope's character traits. Spoilers throughout.
My personal viewpoint is that all character traits have strengths and challenges. And that good storytelling explores both aspects.
I believe that if you find only the positive aspects of a person's character trait acceptable, you're likely to become frustrated over time. We all make mistakes from time to time. The challenging aspects of character traits will inevitably show up.
A key takeaway from Bridgerton S3 is that a long-term relationship is strongest when both parties appreciate and accept their partners' character traits in their entirety.
In this post I will discuss character traits Colin and Penelope share: spontaneity and romantic natures.
Sidenote: I am a romance girlie with ADHD. I empathise with their struggles and indulgently revel in their triumphs
1. Spontaneity
Strengths:
Adventurous: Both are risk-takers. Colin enjoys his travels. Penelope earns her own money, which is unusual for a noble lady during the Regency period.
Creative: Both have innovative ideas. Colin pilfers Cressida's necklace to prove Lord Featherington's rubies are fake. Penelope writes the Whistledown pamphlet to discredit Cressida in a single carriage ride S3E6.
Quick Decision-Making: Both don't faff around. Colin decides on a wife, house, and baby-making within 24 hours in S3E4-5.
Challenges:
Regret: Impulsive actions can lead to regret. Colin regrets going to see Cressida without making a better plan first with Eloise and Penelope in S3E8. Penelope regrets writing about Marina and Eloise.
Relationship Issues: Impulsive behaviour can strain relationships due to a lack of consideration and time given to others. I believe that if Penelope was aware of Colin's intent to marry her and they had had a longer courtship with more opportunities for safe communication, she would have told him about Whistledown before the engagement.
Difficulty Planning: Impulsive people may struggle with long-term planning and goal-setting. Colin often expresses his struggle to find a purpose, such as when he was feeding the ducks S2E5. Penelope did not plan for the long-term when she started writing Lady Whistledown and finds herself being hunted by the Queen.
2. Romantic Nature
Strengths:
Imagination: Both possess a vivid imagination. Colin's dream about Penelope at the start of S3E3 is epic. Penelope's writing about Cressida being a succubus is hilarious.
Resilience: Despite the Lady Whistledown conflict, both maintain their determination to marry. Colin's talk with Kate is enlightening on this aspect too S3E7.
Challenges:
Unrealistic expectations: Both have idealised visions of love, which leads to misunderstandings. Colin is blind to his love for Penelope because he expected it to feel like a thunderbolt striking him. Penelope thinks Colin has romantic intentions towards her when he says he will always look out for her and is heartbroken when she hears he does not want to court her in S2E8.
Vulnerability: Romantic individuals may be more susceptible to manipulation because of how powerfully they feel love. Colin is manipulated by Marina's exaggerations and love bombing in S1. Penelope is manipulated by Portia to give up her dreams because Portia says that ladies do not have dreams and serve their husband's dreams S3E6.
Difficulty with casual relationships: Romantic individuals may find it challenging to navigate casual or less romantic intimacy. Colin forlornly describes a casual encounter in his journal as “distant”. Penelope looks disappointed when Portia tells her that Debling will propose because Penelope desires a love match.
Loneliness: Without love, they experience feelings of loneliness. Colin exclaims at the Lord Squad, "Do you not find it lonely?" regarding their shallow relationships. Penelope looks very lonely when sitting at her bedroom window after the Lady Whistledown article about Colin tutoring her was published S3E4.
Quote of Pen appreciating Colin's spontaneity and romantic nature S1E8:
Colin: “I must apologise. I did not see it at first, but I know you were only trying to prevent me from heartache with Miss Thompson…But I was a fool.”
Penelope: “You were not a fool. You merely believed yourself in love. One should never apologise for that. If one finds themselves in such an incredible position. One should declare it: assuredly, fervently, loudly.”
It is beautiful that they understand and appreciate these aspects of each other 💛💙💚
