AUSTRALIAN PULL UP L’Australian Pull up o Trazione orizzontale è un gesto che va a coinvolgere la muscolatura deputata ai movimenti di tirata e trazione. Viene effettuato a corpo libero e prevede l’avvicinamento del petto alle mani poste su un punto di trazione tramite una flessione delle braccia. . Nella variante standard, le mani devono essere poste sulla sbarra alla larghezza delle spalle. Le braccia devono essere tese come anche il corpo, il quale risulterà inclinato indietro. Le gambe risultano tese con i piedi appoggiati a terra. Per eseguire una ripetizione è necessario portare a termine una trazione con gli arti superiori per avvicinare lo sterno alla sbarra, mantenendo i piedi come fulcro e il corpo rigido. Non devono palesarsi flessioni o estensioni dell’anca o del rachide. . Solitamente si considerano due varianti rispetto al posizionamento delle mani. La prima consiste in una presa larga prona che dovrebbe enfatizzare il lavoro della muscolatura scapolare, del deltoide e del grande dorsale. La seconda invece prevede una posizione delle mani supina con le braccia parallele tanto da permettere lo sfiorare del tronco da parte dei gomiti durante il movimento. Questa tipologia di presa dovrebbe coinvolgere maggiormente il bicipite brachiale. . Altre varianti possono essere applicate cambiando la posizione dei piedi.
