Cool Advantages of Hand-Dyed Merino Wool Yarns
Fineness and softness are among the key properties of Merino wool. It is a special kind of wool that is derived from Merino sheep. Merino sheep graze the highlands of New Zealand and Australia and have been developing the softest fleece since the 12th century. Hand-dyed merino wool yarns hold impressive benefits when it comes to comfort. It is perfect for all-year-round clothing and brings an extreme level of comfort and coziness.
Merino wool provides softness and lightweight texture to be ideal for next-to-skin clothing i.e. socks, underwear etc. It keeps users dry longer since it can release water easily and takes quick time to be ready for the next use. Another lucrative perk is that merino wool can trap heat in air pockets to keep you warmer for a long time. Being odor-resistant, merino wool can absorb all odor molecules and release them during washing to keep you fresh all day.
Furthermore, merino wool protects individuals from harmful UV rays by working as a natural barrier. Also, it isn’t the thickest yarn available in the market. Its fiber measures only 17 microns in thickness while a human hair measures between 60 and 180 microns. Looking for the best quality merino wool yarn? Visit the YarnHub now! It is an online marketplace where you get all types of merino and other yarns at reasonable prices.

Watching a bunch of crochet and yarn videos on YouTube lately and it's a little annoying how hard it is to find male creators in the hobby but infinitely more annoying how 90% of people just act like everyone lives in north America and gets imported Australian wool. Some of us are in other countries with its own local wool production and that's why we use it.....

I finished this one for a friend's 7 year old and delivered her today.
Ursula from the Little Mermaid, I found the pattern book in an op shop in Kyneton on the way up to the Australian Sheep and Wool Show last July. Of course I had to stop at the woollen mills that very day and buy yarn. She is knitted in Bendigo Woollen Mills Classic 8ply for the majority of the colours, the rest of the colours are yarn from the back room which looked and felt and handled awfully similar to the Classic (and also machine washable to boot).
She took about 6 months from cast on to sewing the buttons on with me spending the majority of that time avoiding weaving all the ends. I am convinced that the pattern designer had a sadistic streak to them as there were heaps of spots with only 3 or 4 stitches in a colour even after me simplifying the pattern down to about 4 less colours. The pattern did specify a massive amount of embroidery which I left off because my embroidery skills are non-existant.
Wah-lah!

Forever Knits by Romance Was Born, Australian AW24
'Welcoming winter with our beautifully crafted, sustainable and socially beneficial knitted jumpers.
These have been made by KOCO Knits (Knit One Change One). They teach women in South Indian communities to hand knit, providing education and financial independence to them and their families.
Each jumper is made from 100% dead-stock yarns collected over time, that are then hand tied together to make a unique multicolour pattern... a random mix of wool, mohair, silk and cotton.
There is no machine intervention in the process, meaning no waste and no carbon footprint. Each one is a unique piece made to be with you forever, and made in a way to help our planet live forever.'

Tagged by @newgameplus thank you!!
Last song: last full song I listened to was because the night covered by garbage and screaming females which I need you all to listen to Right Now
This isnt to say that I dont like it but I paused half way through perfect by mannequin pussy which is 💥
Favourite colour: dark blues and reds :3
Currently watching: I'm not currently watching anything so I'll amend this question to currently reading carrie by stephen king and last watched alien
Sweet/spicy/savoury: it depends so much on mood but I tend to favour sweet most!
Relationship status: trying and failing to find a funny way to say 'single babey'
Current obsession: this jumper I'm making on 7mm needles that is working up SO fast. I reckon I can finish it before the end of next week. I dont care if this doesnt count btw it's been consuming my thoughts so it counts*
Last thing you searched: 'when is spendigo' (<- got no results for the official pages for the australian sheep and wool show)
Tagging @lesbianlanval @chryseis @saerif @libraryleopard @gaypda @roadtohell and all people who are putting off doing their laundry
*for interested parties and also for me because I like talking about my projects: I'm holding fingering weight yarn triple, one of the strands is undyed merino/nylon/silver tinsel, and the other two strands are 100% wool self-striping that shift between grey, white, and purple. They're out of phase so I'm getting some pretty fun striping and pooling that doesnt look completely stupid. The shoulder is contiguous so it has a set in look without any sewing or short rows and I did a folded cuff on the sleeve so the stockinette lies flat.

Also some are regional!)

Also knitted a sock with a possum fur/merino wool blend (it's a New Zealand yarn and in NZ they make knitwear out of fur from invasive australian brushtail possums. Sad but they are destructive to the natural habitat and... the yarn is very warm)

I saw your comment on the Seer ask answer about the yarn you use, and I wanted to ask if an Australian brand, Bendigo Woollen Mills, would be useful? They ship outside Australia and sell 200g balls (2x to 4x the size of standard commercial yarn balls and skeins) of pure wool for about AUD$15. They're a staple and stalwart of Australian fibre crafting and excellent quality and value for money, with a decent selection of colourways across multiple yarn weights - maybe they can be of use for bigger projects in future? 🤞🏻
Oooh I'll have to check this out! I also use colourmart for cheap nice yarn, tho their sizing is different and their lace weights can stray into cobweb territory, their four ply strays into lace territory, etc. And you have to wash the machine oils and extra dye off. But it's another good cheaper option for nicer fibers. They mainly sell luxury yarn mill ends so some of it is really nice. You can sometimes get 150g of Merino yarn for like $12.
