'Welcoming winter with our beautifully crafted, sustainable and socially beneficial knitted jumpers.

These have been made by KOCO Knits (Knit One Change One). They teach women in South Indian communities to hand knit, providing education and financial independence to them and their families.

Each jumper is made from 100% dead-stock yarns collected over time, that are then hand tied together to make a unique multicolour pattern... a random mix of wool, mohair, silk and cotton.

There is no machine intervention in the process, meaning no waste and no carbon footprint. Each one is a unique piece made to be with you forever, and made in a way to help our planet live forever.'

okay but the fact that dean and cas are BOTH made for each other and at the same time they willed their love. they made it happen, knowingly, loving each other with every bit of consciousness they had, that they gained with one another. cas was always a rebellious angel, but this is the only universe where he actually rebelled—for dean. that he didn’t do what he was told, where he defied God and fate and the universe. they may not love each other in Every universe, and that may have been their only chance (</3) But Fuck if that isn’t even more poetic. the fact they weren’t linked by some intertwined invisible string but they actually chose to fall in love with each other. every day they made that choice, consciously or not. every day they chose each other. every day they woke up and fought for their love. and like i do think that at some level they were kinda destined for each other, i mean, they Are soulmates, but not in the divine sense yk like chuck did brought castiel over and over because of dean and they are not just two random dudes that fell in love; they were indeed “brought together” but ultimately They—and only they—changed the entire narrative bc that WASN’T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN. castiel was supposed to obey, to comply; dean was supposed to hate all angels and supernatural beings, and yet they were the only real thing in the entire cosmos. they were the only real thing in chuck’s story, their love, the bond they forged—one that wasn’t even supposed to exist, at least not like that. like they really did that Huh they invented free will right then and there to the point even the writers had to change the original script so castiel would come back (i’m pretty sure he was only supposed to be in a few episodes). love so strong they changed the narrative (both of them). cas love for dean was so strong that even tho he was brainwashed and trained to kill dean over and over and over again, the moment that dean needed cas—dean who doesn’t need any one btw—the connection broke, cas broke free. dean love for cas was so strong that even tho he had the moc, the moment that cas asked for him to stop, he did, he couldn’t kill cas, not with cas touching him and not fighting back (btw i love this parallel with all my heart and also cas-collete parallel hellooo?). dean also loved cas so much that even tho he was by fate bound to amara, the moment she did something to cas he immediately went against her, like even she realized that his love for cas was stronger than their bond—even tho his and amara bond was literally inevitable, like it just would happen. and then again we prove that the choice of dean and cas love for each other was so much more strong than anything that chuck could’ve written, stronger than any fate or ineffable plan or anything. and like cas’ love is so strong that i do think would resonate in every universe, but not because they were supposed to happen. on the contrary, specifically because they weren’t a thing, it were so strong to the point it changed everything that it could also happen in every other universe yk like i firmly believe cas would always find dean but not because of fate but because of his love

No, i haven't.

Perhaps i can try for the sake of "new desires" but its a little too far from my prexisting hobbies so the learning curve might be seep. Some day maybe.

I never really had the reason to make my own clothing or things adjacent to it any ways, I Usually commission from professional seemstresses for my garments — i have the money for that.

Left-hand Franklin Relic Glove is complete!!

Turns out the glove that McClintock’s (attempted) rescue mission of the Franklin Expedition found was the right-hand one an expedition member had lost/left behind, so I actually knit the one they theoretically kept with them.

Next—knitting the ‘lost’-yet-found right-hand glove and reuniting the pair.

This has been such an incredibly meaningful and emotional knit for me. Lots of reflection on the act of creation as an act of love, the memories held within objects, connecting to history through craft, and the nature of tragedy.

That’s a lot for a knit glove, but there you have it.

i’m no fanartist, but i couldn’t help but get in on the dracula book club hype with a knitalong after finding Dracula’s Bride by Renee Linville on ravelry!!

my wonderful datemate gifted me a gorgeous gothic-lit-inspired skein pack for christmas last year, and this is the PERFECT project for it. after a lot of winding, a little math, and a few rounds of swatching to test-drive the needle size and gradient technique, we’re off to the races to the tune of our boy jonathan’s terrible, horrible, no good, very bad business trip to transylvania - played to perfection by ben galpin in @re-dracula‘s audio drama production!!

Have you ever been working on a project and then hit a wall so hard you had to learn two other crafts to get unstuck?

Anyway, after 5 months, a loom, and several crochet projects I'm finally back to finish knitting my shawl.

For various reasons I’ve been knitting this sweater in a somewhat piece meal fashion— I split the sleeves and then knit the body until the ball of yarn I was using ran out, then started on sleeve one because I wanted to get both the sleeves done so I could use up the rest of this yarn on the body. I had left the ribbing at the neckline alone because when I split for the body I was still waffling about what yarn I wanted to use. However as I was knitting sleeve one it dawned on me I was going to have a hard time judging sleeve length until the neckband was in place, so once again I stopped the sleeve when I ran out of yarn, and now I’m back picking up stitches for the ribbing. I fucking hate picking up stitches. Absolutely the worst part of this pattern. So fiddly and tedious.

Please admire that I’m doing it anyway.

there are all sort of self-deprecating people with high standards for their niche activities i encounter on tumblr but the ones who really warn me off learning about their hobby the most are serious Dog People involved in the Dog World (constantly in some kind of hideous agony about their dog's tail being slightly too high in a way no casual observer would find possible to perceive). this is surmounted only by Dog People who also have a hobby of Semi-Serious Photography that they seem to have started while trying to get good at photographing the dog. those people can be miserable about the quality of the photograph and the quality of the dog simultaneously while still never making a single complaint over years that im even remotely capable of comprehending

areas where it seems actively self-defeating for your ability to enjoy the activity if you learn too much information about it

This looks kinda like a stupid little hat right now (wish I had a cat so I could plop it on its head) but that's only partially because I'm using a tiny circular needle instead of trying to wrangle 4 dpns in a straightish line. This is a very "trust the process" pattern for me rn
