Sun x moon, sure, but what about DOOMED sun x moon ship?
They’re opposites yes, but it goes more deeper than that, they’re the kind of sun x moon that only meet through eclipses, which has always been never enough in one timeline, but both of them have to move along their separate paths in their separate ways. Fate has destined for them to meet, but only to distance them apart once more.

Consider: Post-canon Zuko wakes up in the body of his childhood self, the morning of That War Meeting. Would he still speak against the plans, knowing his fate? What do you think he would do differently the second time around?
"Turned away at the doors, Zuzu?"
"Shut up, Azula," her brother sulked. But sulked weirdly, after staring at her too long and too wide-eyed, not like she'd surprised him but--
But like he hadn't expected her to be there. At all.
He turned away. ...He turned back. "Hey, Lala? Do you think you could help me practice that one set?"
He didn't meet her eyes.
She narrowed hers. "Which set?"
"The one I'm bad at."
She scoffed. Pushed away from the wall she'd been leaning against. "That's all of them, Dum-Dum."
He didn't shout or stomp or yell about the nickname. His lips twitched.
"It's okay," he said. "If you're afraid you won't be a better teacher that my instructor..."
It was the most obvious manipulation ever.
Perhaps if he proved an adequate firebending student, she'd work on his courtly survival skills next. Honestly, it was good that not even Uncle Gets-Cousins-Killed had been fool enough to take Zuko into that war meeting. She could only imagine how terribly that could have gone.
"Keep up," she said, and turned her steps towards the training grounds.
He did. There, and during the katas she ran him through.
Azula kept her eyes narrowed.
"Hey," he asked, "do you know how to bend lightning yet?"
As if he could have missed it, if she'd been able to get more than sparks. "I will soon," she said.
"You will," he agreed, and flowed through his next set. The one she'd only just mastered.
Father didn't notice how weird Zuzu was being. Uncle never noticed anything. Zuko ate dinner and asked a servant for seconds and didn't stutter or flinch or lose his appetite when father asked, coolly, what he'd done with his day. Azula's shoulders tensed, because one mention of how she'd squandered her own training time teaching him--
"Azula hogged the training grounds. For hours," Zuzu scowled, exactly like a petulant thirteen year old.
Exactly like he hadn't been acting all day.
By the time Father was looking her way, Azula had her usual smirk in place. "I'm sure there would be room for both of us," she said, "you're not afraid of a little friendly fire, are you, brother?"
Zuko sulked. And ate his seconds, like he was enjoying each bite. There was something in his eyes, like a joke no one else was getting.
---
Father died that night. A heart attack. There were the faintest of burns to either side of the treacherous organ; the royal physician hypothesized that he'd grabbed at his chest, fingers burning hot in his final moments; so hot they'd only exacerbated the problem.
The royal physician would never have been brought any victims of lighting strikes. Those that occurred in the capital did not generally require a doctor in the aftermath.
Zuzu ate a hearty breakfast.
He didn't order seconds. Azula gave him points, at least, for not being tacky.
---
The sages named Iroh as regent.
They named Zuko as Fire Lord.
"No," the tiny Fire Lord in his perfectly miniaturized Fire Lord robes said, sitting at the head of his war council. "We're not doing that. And I'll be reviewing all recent battle plans, as well. What's this I hear about a division of new recruits being deployed to the front?"
He did not mention how he'd heard of the 41st Division. No one asked.
"Prince Iroh, surely--" one of the generals tried to appeal.
The young Fire Lord's regent was looking as startled as the rest of them, for a moment. Then he sipped his tea, and smiled.
"Your Fire Lord is correct, of course. A change in our leadership--a change the other nations may mistakenly view as weakness--will necessitate a change in our strategy."
"Now," said their lord, "what, exactly, is our overall objective in this war?"
War, the new Fire Lord decreed, was not an end unto itself.
---
The new Fire Lord continued to have time, to pretend to be trained by her. Azula watched him. Adjusted her footwork. Did not tolerate, and was not offered, any commentary on who was teaching who.
"What did you do with my brother?" she asked, as they flowed from one set to the next. As her hands, poised to throw fire, just so happened to be pointed his way.
He missed a step. It didn't look like an act.
"I'm, uh. Right here?"
She didn't bother to dignify that.
He didn't bother to look worried about her hands, one movement off from a true attack.
He looked around, then grabbed her sleeve, and tugged her further from any walls that may hide ears. The royal family's private training grounds were wonderfully large, and wonderfully open.
"It's me," he said. "It's still me. Just. More of me? Longer of me?"
She narrowed her eyes. A familiar expression, by this point. "Explain."
"...I found the Avatar," he said. "And this is definitely his fault, but--but I guess it started at a war meeting, when I was thirteen."
Azula listened. It was a very Dum-Dum story.

Alright now this does not make sense here

Sozin is supposed to be 16-17 in this book, bc this is only a few months after Roku left the Fire Nation to train at the Southern Airtemple. The comet is said to pass every hundred years. Sozin comitted the airnomad genocide twelve years after Roku died (hence Aang being twelve). If we do the math according to this book tho, the great comet passes when Sozin is 60-61. Meaning Roku is also 60-61 bc they share their birthday and -year. And it's known that Roku died when he was in his late seventies early eighties. So HOW is this possible?
Either they're retconning how often the comet passes by earth OR they're retconning how old Roku was when he died (meaning he would have died at age 50, which would mess the story up so badly I don't think this is what they did). I'm so lost rn and maybe it gets explained further in the book (calculations being wrong? Idk) but man it's not fun to see them either change stuff about things that are already canon or just get canon wrong.
Idk why they're doing this. It would be much more satisfying if this novel actually followed the show's canon, that we witness Sozin learning at which exact date the comet will pass, not that he finds an estimate and discovers the calculations in Wan Shi Tong's library were wrong (which I highly doubt considering that celestial calendar he has).
#idk man the avatar novels have retconned some stuff before but i don't like this#i already didn't like that the technique iroh was claimed to have invented already existed#like that's an achievement by a beloved character that's just being swept away#are we messing with timelines too now?#atla#avatar the last airbender#avatar#tror#the reckoning of roku#roku#avatar roku#sozin#firelord sozin#wan shi tong#wan shi tong's library

Are Atlas and Prometheus always arguing with each other about Heracles?
Since Heracles tricked Atlas but he killed the eagle and freed Prometheus.
(also I imagine that Prometheus is grateful for Heracles for freeing him)
Prometheus:"I see... that could have been an outcome if things went differently without Chronos intervention...We argue about many things but the son of Zeus isn't one of them"
Atlas:"I would rather not discuss that ... tsk. I mean I would like to think that my time is more valuable than to discuss about a guy in a fur coat..." *still salty*
Prometheus:" I might add that Aetos (the eagle) is fine and well, he has been proving himself more useful than I thought”

The Timeline, Vol 2
Mai was introduced exactly 19 years ago today, on April 7th, 2006, in the AtLA episode ‘Return to Omashu.’ This also introduced her romantic interest in Zuko.
Mai and Zuko were confirmed as a dating couple in September 2007 with the airing of the episode ‘The Awakening.’ Mai and Zuko broke up 2 months later in November 2007 in ‘The Day of Black Sun, Part 1: The Invasion.’ They reunited as a couple 8 months later in July 2008 with the airing of the AtLA finale.
A little less than 4 years later, in May 2012 with the publishing of the graphic novel ‘The Promise - Part 2,’ Mai and Zuko broke up again due to trust issues. In a major emotional moment, Zuko attests to still loving Mai and desiring her back, but she refuses to return.
One year later in May 2013, Mai’s situation in the aftermath of the breakup was revealed in the comic book ‘Rebound.’ In this story, Mai dates a boy named Kei Lo but breaks up with him by the end of the issue. She also fights some anti-Zuko terrorists.
Mai is not seen again until almost three years later (September/October 2015), in 'Smoke and Shadow - Part One.' In this story, Mai dates a boy named Kei Lo. For the story's conclusion, 6 months later (March/April 2016), in ‘Smoke and Shadow - Part Three,’ Mai breaks up with him by the end of the issue, and in a major emotional moment, Zuko attests to still loving her and desiring to have her back, but she refuses to return. Throughout the trilogy, Mai also fights some anti-Zuko terrorists.
Mai's next and so far final appearance is almost 9 years later in March 2025, in the one-shot graphic novel 'Ashes of the Academy.' In a major update to their relationship status, Zuko and Mai briefly refer to the trust issues they broke up over, but she refuses to return. At the end of the story, Mai fights some anti-Zuko terrorists.
Some real-time statistics:
Mai and Zuko were a couple for 4 years.
Mai and Zuko have not been a couple for a total of 15 years since Mai’s introduction.
Mai and Zuko have been broken up for nearly 13 years.
Mai’s situation post-breakup was first revealed 12 years ago. Since that time, the only change to her character has been to get a new job she seems to like better than the old one.
It has been 5 years since I began to track these statistics. A child born when I made the first Maiko Timeline is now likely to be in kindergarten. In that time, Mai has appeared in one comic book. In the same amount of time, writer John Ostrander wrote his legendary 66-issue run of the groundbreaking comic series, 'The Suicide Squad' (plus some tie-in miniseries).
The graphic novel plotline about Mai and Zuko breaking up has been in existence for 68% of the existence of Mai as a character, and 65% of the existence of ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ as a franchise.
A baby born when Mai and Zuko broke up in ‘The Promise’ is now 13 years old, likely experiencing puberty, and 2 years older than the recommended age range for the new graphic novel installments of ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender,’ which is 8-11 years old. It took only a little under 10 years to air all of both 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' and 'The Legend of Korra.'
The numbers continue to tell the story better than the franchise's paid writers.
(Timeline once again made at https://www.officetimeline.com/online. I was honestly shocked they're still in business.)

it really is such a shame that so many shows are cancelled after one season if they don’t immediately pull a stranger things and become a world wide phenomenon.
i started thinking about this after finding out that atla was considered “default cancelled” after s2 because the season didn’t pull in enough ratings and all writers were laid off, and the team had to start campaigning for the show to be given its third and final season. which looking back on now, is really wild considering that s2 is arguably the most beloved season amongst fans.
you can also find similar stories with other shows like breaking bad. most popular shows we know and love didn’t become famous overnight, it took time.
#there’s an timeline out there where atla was never finished and was cancelled after s2#shaking in my boots lmao#text

Slight change of outfit for Aang//OOC
Added a sash to make it seem as if he's trying to keep some of his Air Nomad culture, despite it being stripped away from him.
I also changed his glove style to show his wedding ring and eye bags to make him look more tired and depressed.
his hair is a lttiel messy here, but I like how this scene edit turned out!

five minute zeph lore speedrun?? 👀
Okay okay we're speedrunning it let's go uhhhh
Zeph was created as the Universe (as in our little blue and green friends from the end poem)'s first experiment with the idea of hardcore mode. They are created without respawn code, and so when they die in any given world the Universe pulls them out, patches them up and ships them off to the next world they've picked out. The twist to this is that Zeph's memories from each world are taken from them after their death, and so they are, throughout most of their life, living in a loop of getting thrown into a world with no clue where they are, how they got there, where they were before, or even really who they are, doing their best to survive with that confusion, and then dying and getting sent to a new place under the same conditions.
Obviously, the human mind and body are not meant to sustain these conditions, and so the Universe figures out pretty quickly that this certainly isn't the right way to run their new game mode. So ,they figure that out and implement normal hardcore mode, but they've kind of gotten attached to Zeph, the experiment they represent, and so they keep that experiment going, slowly getting bolder with the types of worlds they send Zeph into after deaths.
They end up on Hermitcraft (season 7) at age 15. Basically all of the hermits look at this mystery kid with no memories and decide that's their kid now. They get like half adopted by Bdubs and Scar who found them while planning the mayoral campaign. They're a kind of weird anxious kid obviously owing to the strange circumstances of their life but Hermitcraft, despite it's chaos, is probably the safest and most stable place they've ever gotten to live. They take up building and landscaping/terraforming under Scar and Bdubs and are extremely curious about all the other strange skills and projects the Hermits get up to and it becomes obvious over time as they come out of their shell and Xisuma fails to find any hints as to where they came from and how to help with their memory that they're probably not going anywhere anytime soon.
They, during this time, have their first instance of remembering something from one of their previous worlds, an issue that will grow worse over time and become a constant pain in the ass for the Universe, which just wants to keep their experiment going. Turns out the human brain is really good at triggering memories, no matter how much magic you use to suppress them.
Eventually they do finally die (There's an incident involving some pillagers related to earlier lore we're not getting into rn its speedrun time). There's a period of a few years where they bounce between other servers (dsmp, x life, mianite). There's lots of drama about all that I also refuse to get into if we're trying to speedrun this but to say the least the universe's ability to control their memory continues to slip and eventually, having remembered basically everything from their time in Hermitcraft and after, and maybe having a bit of help from a certain goddess in Mianite to help them slip past the universe for a bit, they manage to get back home to Hermitcraft and do some healing and reconnecting.
Blah blah blah long period of relative peace as they work through a lot of the trauma from the last few years with the help of the hermits, meanwhile the universe is seething that their experiment is ruined and will basically use any opportunity afforded to them to try to pull Zeph back in. They are, eventually, made to have a moment of clarity and remorse and begrudgingly agree to let go of the experiment and let Zeph live their life so yippee it looks like maybe everything is actually going well for once!
Except uh oh I don't know if you noticed in the last few weeks but the dsmp truly is the cockroach of the mcyt space and some drama from their time there follows them home and there's a long story arc involving political corruption, a prison, and Dream being as much of an asshole as we all expect him to be. Yada yada I had stopped paying attention to dsmp lore at this point in my life so the arc ends with them taking his final canon life so that he's forever trapped in a purgatory of his own making where he can't ever hurt anyone again, but this also leads to the destruction of their code, what should essentially, for any other person, be a permanent death.
Luckily for Zeph they're not exactly a normal player and they have some begrudging allies in high places. The universe feels kind of bad for fucking up their life to the point that it did quite literally kill them, and their memories are still kind of attached to the universe's magic, so they essentially decide to like, rebuild them out of magic to replace their code.
Blah blah time skip they spend time in the void slowly yknow. becoming a living person again. If I was a nice person trying to tell a coherent story I would just ship them back off to hermitcraft and let them have their happy ending but unfortunately I still need bedtime stories so they're still going through it. Whatever.
Everything before the void soup resurrection time skip has a kind of set lore and timeline that I don't mess with much, it's all stuff I came up with in high school (Mostly like 2020-2022). I really only frequently revisit the Hermitcraft stuff from that time bc I find all that stuff fun and compelling still. If you see them with blond hair it's from this era and they're probably about 14-17.
Everything post void soup resurrection time skip is kind of more complicated? Cause like I said if I was trying to tell a nice story I would've wrapped it up but instead I'm still just kinda throwing them in scenarios and seeing what sticks and really nothing has lol. I've thrown them in seasons 8, 9, and 10, in SOS and Empires. There's a lot of different possible directions to take them all with wildly conflicting lore and character dynamics. Idk I'm just having fun playing with them like dolls lol. Anyways if you see them with white hair it's the new stuff, modern era, they're like 18/19, and all of it is dubiously non-canon I guess bc I can't decide which version I want to be canon. Schrödinger's canon if you will.
This isn't even accounting for any of the blatantly non-canon stuff where I've just thrown them into every other piece of media I've enjoyed in the last 5 years just to see what would happen but anyways speedrun over why did this still turn out 12 paragraphs long
#atlas speaks#zeph#i think i've been typing for an hour wtf happened to five minutes#long post#can you see why the longer version of this has been taking so fucking long#it's five years of them running around in my head doing whatever the fuck they want and me trying to string it into a coherent timeline

im getting you started.
Bro, the timeline in Carmen Sandiego is super finicky, and I'm pretty sure I've spent more time thinking about this than the creators intended us to, but WHATEVER. It haunts me.
Right, so the creators said Carmen is 20 at the start of the series, but as I said: that math don't math!
Season one takes place over the course of six months:

Season 2 picks up one week after season 1, in February. We know this because they're celebrating Carnival.

For the purpose of breaking down this theory, I'm going to place Carmen's birthday as March 1st, her WOEICs counterpart's official birthday.
So. At the end of season one, which would have been mid-February, Player says something about how Carmen was found on the side of the road twenty years ago, but if her birthday was in a mere matter of weeks, couldn't you theorize that he was rounding up? Maybe she's 19 turning 20.
Or, maybe, she's 20 turning 21? No!
At the end of season 2, Shadowsan says he found her twenty years ago. This is where we take a detour to discuss infant development.
In the flashbacks, we see that baby Carmen prefers crawling-- she can toddle a little bit, but not well. Children typically begin standing between 7 and 12 months, and walking between 10 and 18 months. We also see that she babbles and coos a lot, but no words. Children tend to say their first word at around 12 months. Based on this, I'd wager that baby Carmen was around seven or eight months old. We know she's a physical prodigy, so she could potentially be even younger-- the youngest recorded baby to walk was six months old.
Placing baby at 7 months when she was kidnapped, that makes Shadowsan's "I found you twenty years ago" accurate to the month. At this point, Carmen is 20 years and 7 months old.
Season three takes place in October/November. Presumably, season three picks up right after season two, putting the end of season two in October. It spans about the same length as season one.
While the word of the creators doesn't have much bearing here-- as this post is very much a "you guys are wrong and here's why" kind of post-- one of the creators did say that they imagined Carmen as being twenty by season three. That would make it impossible for her to have been twenty during season one. Too much time has passed for that to work.
Season 4 takes place sometime around February. We know this because Devineaux asks Gray what he was doing on the train to Poitiers 18 months ago. 12 months ago would have been February (start of season 2) and six months before that is August. That's eighteen months.
Going by this, I think Carmen was yoinked just after her twenty-first.
Interestingly, if my math is mathing-- and who knows, I turned a two year degree into a three year degree because I kept failing math classes, I could be talking actual nonsense right now-- this makes Player like 17/18 by season four, and that's hilarious to me because that means his parents (tried) to make him go to school for like the last semester of his senior year. Free my boy 😭
In conclusion, Carmen is 19 at the start of season one, she and Player are three years apart, and Player's parents are some cruel mfers. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
