Cishet aspecs are queer.
Cishet aromantics are queer. Cishet asexuals are queer. Cishet aplatonics are queer. Cishet afamilials are queer. Cishet anattractionals are queer.
Aspecs are queer as hell and excluding them only isolates queer people from their community.

"why were you staring at them? you like them, don't you?" uhm no. i just thought they were aesthetically pleasing. don't you also stop and stare at someone in absolute awe of how beautiful they are, feeling blessed to be in the presence of such a stunning being?

For poll purposes if you’re anywhere on the a-spectrum of asexual, afamial, asensual, aromantic, aplatonic, etc, etc you vote aspec.
If you don’t identify with any of the aspec labels, then you vote allo.
Edit; I’m aware that the poll is going to be skewed. I’m not actually trying to get stats for the amount of aspec people on tumblr, I’m mostly just curious about how making this poll on a blog with a majorly aspec audience would affect the results of an allo vs. aspec poll.

Aesthetic attraction is wild!!
You could just stare at that person for hours and admire their beauty, their facial structures, the way their hair looks and you could get lost gazing into those beautiful eyes.
It’s like, “Damn!!! You’re so gorgeous there should be a picture of you in an art museum”.
Tell me I’m not the only one who feels this way 🥹

i think being ace-spec brings a beautiful perspective and a very important conversation into awareness, within and beyond our community
talking about boundaries and needs, about what we like and don't, what we're comfortable with and what not - it benefits everyone, allo or ace-spec

Being asexual is hilarious because sometimes my brain will tell me “I need him to destroy me. I need him to BLEEEEP me into next Tuesday.” And then I’m like, “hm, okay, care to elaborate on that?”
And… crickets.
“Any idea what you actually want him to do to you?” And my brain is like, “Y’know what. I didn’t plan that far ahead.”

"Validity" should not have to be given. "Validity" should not have to be declared by the majority. "Validity" is a made-up qualifier and positions whoever is outside that label as having needed to give approval for someone to exist and take part. I am not "valid", because I was already here. We were already here, approved or unapproved.
Every microlabel, allospec identities of all kinds, the loveless, the aspec-allos, everyone who has ever been the subject of debate or been accused of making us all look bad; the stereotype, the asshole, the mold-breaker, the discourse topic, and the invisible. Validity is sold to us to put down some as pending approval and lift others as the gatekeepers, to pit us against each other to pick each other apart.
Don't seek approval. Just be.

First aspec pride poll of the month!
(for poll purposes pick the label you identify with most)
Sorry if the aspec abbreviations on some are weird. I had to make some up.
Happy pride month to my fellow aspecs! Remember that your attraction/lack of attraction is just as valid as anyone else!

Learning about the split attraction model for me was a game changer when realising I was ace. It made me appreciate that there were other types of attraction and what I was experiencing was actually aesthetic. It also means that I can completely separate the asexual side of me from the aromantic side of me. Even though my sexual and romantic orientations are the same, I see them as two separate identities. I don’t know why but the asexual part has always felt more meaningful to me but maybe that’s just because it was my first-born identity

Quick reminder that not everyone’s sexuality is fluid, so yours may be, but not everyone’s (mine certainly isn’t). Everyone is different
I also think that if more people were educated about attraction from the a-spec community, they might discover that what they thought was romantic/sexual attraction actually wasn’t that and that’s why their sexuality “changed” over time
For example, I stopped having “crushes” when I was fourteen, but after learning about the types of attraction outside of romantic and sexual, I realized that I never had crushes in the romantic sense. It was all platonic feelings, gender envy, and aesthetic attraction. Also compulsory heterosexuality that mimicked crushes on guys lol but that completely went away once I dissected it. Apparently “you’re so cool, I want to be best friends forever and give you a hug, also you’re pretty” is not the same as wanting to be in a romantic relationship with someone. And thinking someone is pretty is not the same as wanting to have sex with them. Once I learned that, the aroace realization hit me like a train
So even if you’re not a-spec, there’s a chance that the reason your sexuality “changed” is actually because what you were feeling back then wasn’t romantic/sexual
But of course if you’re happy with yourself then don’t worry about it lol
