Ghoap 💀🧼 relationship dynamic HC (shall we?)

Simon "Ghost" Riley is no scaredy-cat.

The man has been through hell on Earth, survived torture, abuse,—and being buried alive for fuck’s sake. They managed,—even after everyone he loved was taken from him. Has been through countless tense and anxiety inducing situations throughout their military career.

But Ghost has nerves of steel, excellent control over his emotions, and naturally that’s why it’s so damn good at its job.

Though…there is one thing that scares the shit out of them. Soap.

Simon thought he was all big and bad,—intimidating,—until he met John “Soap” MacTavish.

Johnny is only around half its size, yet he manages to be even scarier than Ghost somehow. Which is wild, considering one of them looks like the damn grim reaper with that skull mask of theirs.

Simon may have a reputation for “the guy you don’t wanna mess with”, to the point where people won’t even bother with them.—But Soap’s got more than a few screws loose himself.

New recruits and others will at least approach him,—but with serious caution, and are careful to watch their mouths around him.

His anger is explosive, fitting, for a demolitions expert. A total loose cannon when he wants to to be. Some recruits even refer to him as “the psycho Scot” or "Ghost's guard dog". Titles he takes to with pride.

Johnny’s known for putting people in their place, and with every fight he’s ever gotten into,—he’s always won. Often sending his opponents to medical.

Most of the time though, he just has to look at someone and it scares them shitless. He’s mastered his death glare, and it even sends shivers up Ghost’s spine.

The man’s a total gym rat and health nut, nothing but muscle, and he trains the most of anyone Simon has ever seen. He’s naturally a reigning champ when it comes to hand to hand combat, and he even beats Simon to a pulp on the sparring mats most of the time. (Ghost may like him beating the snot out of him more than they than would like to admit…)

Soap is often used for interrogations, as he’s morally bankrupt just enough,—to where he’ll do just about anything to get answers out of someone. Whether it involves violence or not.

Simon has seen the sheer extent of the injuries sustained by the poor bastards that were stupid enough to challenge him, that pissed him off, or that he’s extracted information out of—and that was enough for Ghost.

Simon is a smart man, and knows when to pick his battles. Soap being the battle he most certainly knows NOT to pick.

Johnny is more lenient with Ghost than other people, and lets them get away more. But Simon’ll be damned if it ends up on the receiving end of Soap’s wrath.

I really like the idea of Soap being the dominating one in the relationship, but Ghost not being entirely submissive either.

Like Simon can and will be the one to put him in HIS place, and knock his ego down a few pegs if need be. Though still allows him his fun.

While Johnny relies on Ghost to let him know when he’s “too much”, and makes a point to let Simon have the control, at least every now and then.

Both try to be as respectful as possible of the other’s needs and desires, while also "maintaining their roles". But both are effectively switches, whether it's in the bedroom or not, and mainly put up this dom and sub act for other people and for their own amusement.

i think the thing to understand abt martha jones is that even after she leaves she is five seconds away from dropping everything and traveling with the doctor at any given time. bc that itch to blow everything up and damn her personal duty to hell in search of a higher call never leaves her. but martha is smart. and rational. and has spent a long fucking time needing to keep herself safe. (bc he comes when she calls but never before.) and so she has gotten very good at keeping herself on the right side of those five seconds. but i do think if ten was a different person (if he could acknowledge how much he needed her instead of just how much he liked her) (if he didn’t feel this righteous martyrdom when it comes to being left alone) (if he cared enough about her to beg. if he cared enough about himself.) i think that her answer no would come crumbling down pretty quickly is all.

I don't know if anyone else feels this way but I think a big reason why I'm so chill about the changes made to the PJO show from the books is because I kind of look at each other as their own seperate canon.

Like, I read a lot of anime and manga, and anime adaptations have a huge habit for changing plot points for various reasons, and as a fan of said anime and manga, I've found that I can enjoy both versions of the same story even with the differences when I look at them as their own universe or canon. That's not to say I don't want them to be faithful or true to the source material, but if a scene or situation plays out differently for a logical or entertaining reason, than I can still appreciate that deviation from the manga even if I still like the other original version of that part more. And I can even like the reversal way if I feel an anime does something better than even the manga. But if I want to, I can look at certain moments as more canon than others because I got 2 different versions of that same scene or moment.

And, I don't know, I kind of apply that reasoning to the PJO series as well, mainly with the books, the show, and even the musical (not the movies put that right back where it came from). So far I'm loving the TV show, and while I miss some of the things they changed (like the pink poodle), this adaptation really is doing a great job with staying true to the heart and spirit of the original book that I personally am not even really bothered by the changes, especially when I remember that the books will always still be there with it's own version, or canon, of events.

Like, I will say 1 thing I adore in the books that isn't really in the show is the fact that a lot of Percy and Annabeth's "rivalry" during TLT has more to do with the rivalry between Poseidon and Athena. I just really like on how this adds a level of "forbidden friendship/love" to their relationship 'cause I personally eat the forbidden relationship trope up, especially when it's done well like with Percabeth.

Yet, even if this isn't really the reason percabeth have beef with each other in the show, I can still appreciate and enjoy that according to the show's canon, they have issues because they genuinely have problems with each other as actual people rather than their parents' rivalry, because at the end of the day, that's the PJO TV show canon, and I can always turn to the books for that version of Percabeth's "rivalry", as that is the PJO book canon.

Same goes for the characters too. I will always have and love my dark haired Percy and blond haired Annabeth in the books, but I can also welcome and love Walker's Percy and Leah's Annabeth from the show. And so far, they along with Aryan are KILLING IT as those characters.

I can love both versions of the characters.

I can love both versions of the same story.

I can look at both versions as they own seperate canon or mix them together if I so wish too (especially since both versions of PJO are written by the same guy)

And that's ok. The adaptation doesn't have to be a complete copy of the books. It doesn't have to have things play out eactly the same way. The characters don't have to look exactly the way they are described as in the books. And that's ok. I will still always have the books to love and appreciate, but I can also start to love and appreciate the new adaptation for it's new spin and twists to the same story that sets it apart as it's own canon while still staying true to the spirit of its predecessor.

Anyway, sorry if I'm not making a lot of sense. I just think the people complaining about the changes in the show are looking at it all the wrong way. The show has it's own canon just as the books have their own canon, or even the musical. At the end of the day, isn't that kind of cool to have different versions of the same story and characters? Doesn't it give you so many more options to look at the story in different ways that you can prefer or choose from? Doesn't it give you new versions of canon that you choose from? And really, as long as the PJO adaptation, or any adaptation for that matter, stays true to the heart and spirit of the original story and characters, do the changes made really matter?

okay this is the second anon i’ve gotten that’s kinda upset me because of distancing myself from the ship/ST fandom….and i’m trying really hard not to overthink things or be over sensitive or dramatic or something….

but look, it’s not that i don’t like them anymore—cause i do—there’s something about the childhood best friends to lovers trope that is very personal to me (it’s what got me to latch onto said ship to begin with) but the state of the fandom (drama, ageism, the same old ridiculous discourse every week, and people taking things way too seriously…i needed a break!!) and honestly in doing so, it was so easy to jump back into another ship(s) that i dearly love just as much because it makes me happy :)

yes yes yes ok so i posted a ficlet a while ago about a raindrop uni au that i ended up overthinking and deleted, but then @jesusbutbetterrr asked me about it and that they couldn't find it and i had to admit that i'd burned it from existence and have been reworking it into something bigger and better

here's a little taste below the cut, if it sounds familiar than you might have saw it in the few days i had it posted on here 😇

"Hey, Dew, you down to go to the dining room?" Swiss asks as he slings his backpack over one shoulder, tossing a wink at the sister of sin he catches staring at his biceps. Which, Dew can't blame her, Swiss is pretty hot, and Dew can admit that in a totally bro way. They’ve been best friends since elementary school, pledged the same fraternity and even had their first threesome with the head of Kappa Mu. 

“Nah sorry, I got to go work on my media project for Secondo so I’m gonna head to the library. I’ll meet up with you in music theory, save me a spot yeah?” After an affirmative nod from his friend, Dew heads the opposite way down the corridor, finding the lab surprisingly empty. He sets up camp in the back corner, pulling up his document from his junk drive and starts to edit before a notification from his phone distracts him. It’s just a comment from Aether on one of their mutual friend’s Instasin pictures that Dew had also commented on. But, then he remembers Mr. Tall, Dark and Handsome and gets a little curious. After a quick search of Aether’s profile bares no results, Dew pulls up the browser on his computer, opening up Ghoulbook.

Dew curses under his breath, sure that was what the professor had called his mystery ghoul. He’d take the search to Aether’s friends, but he hadn’t accepted his friend request when he’d sent it last semester and would have to send Aether a new request before he could even start looking for Reign.

A throat clears behind him and Dew freezes, feeling the shameful blush gathering in his chest and swiftly climbing up his throat to paint his cheeks a rosy red. 

“It’s actually spelled R-A-I-N, but I see where you were going with the pronunciation." Dew would rather crawl into an actual hole in the bottom of the pit right now. Of course, this ghoul even has a sexy voice, the monotone coming across bored, but he can hear the slight amusement laced beneath it. Not one to stop when the proverbial foot is already in his mouth, Dew takes a deep breath, picking up whatever pride he has left, and turns to the Econ Incubus. 

“The spelling’s just a formality, at least I would have screamed it the right way,” And it’s so worth it, the way Rain swallows audibly, his cheeks reddening to a third of Dew’s current heated complexion.

A couple of looks for Anteros in Casey's universe. I've wanted to draw the first one for a while and @whoredmode mentioned a little while back wanting to do more with Anteros and butterfly imagery because of his name, whereas I was/am in the mood to do some outfit designs so I was inspired by them in a more literal sense. Second is a little more conceptual and idk he'd actually wear it but I had a concept of it in my head which you'll see in my inspo below.

Left is probably around April 2023 and right November 2023, though Ragnarok unsurprisingly doesn't experience seasons quite the same as Earth hence why they're more representative of Autumn and Spring.

Worth a zoom in as I don't think they look as good in this view, but, some explanation below the cut.

The Lone Rose look is one I already had in this fic I wrote for the reunion of Dexteros, and this was how I described it at the time:

The magenta hair remains but it’s cut a little shorter. The man dressed entirely differently to how he dressed before the earth was lost. Stylish as ever, but nowhere near as colorful. Like something has been stripped from him. Ivory shirt, black pants and boots, long black coat. The stetson remains but it’s a new, pure black one, not the one Dex was never entirely keen on because it had belonged to the dead boyfriend. He almost looks like a vampire hunter. Or... maybe... maybe a ghost hunter.

I wanted to work in shades of the hunter thing without making it too similar to a vampire hunter look I'm in the process of creating for Casey, I also wanted to incorporate aspects Ted's original design for Anteros in the cowboy biker gang, which I've since named The Vicinals. Thirdly I was looking at different types of pink butterflies I was slightly influenced by the common rose butterfly:

Originally I wanted it to be more inspired by a chrysalis for the other butterfly I'm going to talk about below, because the whole idea is that Anteros and Dex are both in a bit of a stasis up until this point, but it didn't fit the image I had from what I'd written very well. But that's OK, I love how it came out. Still muted but with those little details.

As for the Blushing Phantom look, this was very much a case of the butterfly coming first because I love the idea of the Blushing Phantom representing Anteros:

Especially Caseyverse Anteros because of the dark blue shimmer. I wish I could draw that kind of finish on the coat but you get the idea. As for the hair I went a little rogue 🤭 I liked the idea that Dex would cut Anteros's hair shorter in this universe as in his main one, but keeping a little more on top, and also returning to the pink. Because after reuniting with Dex, and after the cloaking of the planet is in place, they're ready to start travelling together again, with Anteros becoming somewhat of a legendary trickster amongst the Krotox.
