Breaking the Fourth Wall

I’ve seen this opinion floating around on socials regarding AYS and how much we see the staff/Jikook interacting with the staff on AYS and how some people expressed that it took them out of the moment. It “broke the fourth wall” aka it reminded us that there was a crew there filming them so Jikook weren’t alone.

I sat with this notion of breaking the fourth wall and if it actually bothered me. It obviously didn’t in the moment because this was not a sentiment that I drew on my own accord, but that’s the thing. Sometimes someone says something and before automatically agreeing with them, we should pause and examine how we actually feel.

And the thing is, after sitting with it, I don’t agree that it was annoying. I actually find it the opposite. How long have we seen BTS filmed at this point and we almost NEVER see the staff interacting with them in content like Run BTS/Bon Voyage/ITS take your pick honestly. So the fact that staff were sometimes in Jikook’s convos and giving suggestions tells me that they liked being there. They are comfortable with them. Makes you wonder if Jikook have favorites and had some say in who they wanted to be apart of the show. My guess is yes. And my guess is that those same staff members might (I can dream okay) even be like us and melt a little bit when they see those two. Maybe Jikook also tug on their heartstrings. It just makes sense to me that way. And for that reason, I find it rather endearing. I don’t know just some pillow thoughts before I sleep.

September 26, 2023: Part 2 of 2 of episode 3's recap

On the way to the entertainment park, JK drives a motorcycle, Tae drives a scooter, and JM drives a car. This makes me think that Tae is comfortable with this type of vehicle, possibly indicating that he and JK ride together in their free time. Of course, these are just my personal observations, and I encourage you to form your own conclusions.

Isn't this sweet? This is another instance of JK demonstrating his protective nature towards Tae, always prioritizing Tae's safety. JK carefully follows behind Tae as they journey to the theme park, so he can watch out for Tae's safety. Upon arriving at the parking lot, JK takes the lead, skillfully guiding them to their designated parking spots. According to tcnckclnsmaek on TW, Kside are calling him Jeon-sweetheart (전다정).

The three go into the obstacle course site. Jk completes one of the courses twice, and Tae continuously watches while admiring both times, exclaiming “whoa” and complimenting that he makes it look easy (pic 1 is Jk’s first time on the course, pics 2-4 are his second time going). When Jk goes on a third obstacle, Tae and Jm both look on, with a small smile seen on Tae’s face as he watches him (pic 5).

Tae and Jimin go to race each other on the speed race obstacle. Jk is attentive to Tae, guiding him on where to put his feet, and keeping his eyes on him when he yells, “Go!” He even helpfully presses Tae’s button for him. Tae begins to race up before JM is ready, causing JM to laugh, hop down and say he’s not going (they all end up going individually, with Tae scoring 15 seconds, JM getting 21:50 seconds and Jk achieving 12 seconds).

In this heartwarming moment, Jk demonstrates incredible care and consideration for Tae as he comforts him. Tae finds himself scared at the top of an obstacle and expresses a desire to come down. Jk responds by climbing up an adjacent obstacle to offer support and reassurance, all the while cheering him on and letting him know, "V, I'm here. I'm here." It's a beautiful display of support and care.

With a soft smile (hard to tell in the first still, but I tried to capture it), Jk can be seen watching as Tae jumps and succeeds in grabbing onto the cylinder. Jk applauds fervently while descending alongside Tae. In the background, JM can be seen and heard praising and joining in the applause for Tae's successful feat.

When the three drive go carts, Jk sports a bright smile when he sees Tae has caught up to him -

Tae carries a soft smile on his face as he and JM watch Jk’s solo spin on the go cart, before loudly praising that he looks cool. Jk glances over as he passes by, biting his lip as he smiles at the praise.

Also, it’s important to note the company absolutely set up this leg of the trip for three people, despite what some on social media attempt to claim. As pointed out by others, all three had bags of sponsored clothes (three sets of shoes, jackets and shirts), there were 3 water guns and cameras laid out, and Tae’s favorite wine was stocked up.

WELCOME TRAVEL SHOW

The travel show has a date - AUGUST 8, 2024 - and I am so happy!

I've always said that having both summer and winter editions made the most sense—because we absolutely need to see them enjoying Sapporo in winter (when they actually went there), come on! So, while I shouldn't be surprised that the first content is coming in August, this summer... I still am.

I'm as surprised, excited, moved, and thrilled as if I heard that Jimin and Jungkook had recorded a travel show for the first time.

And the teaser can't help but get me excited. It feels like more than just a friends' trip; I sense something deeper... though maybe I'm biased...

What the heck?! I'm not biased! LOL

Get ready by stretching and doing jaw exercises because I think we’ll probably be smiling throughout the entire travel show.

We need to train the muscles we use when we smile: the elevator muscle of the angle of the mouth, the upper lip, the orbicularis oculi, the risorius, the zygomaticus major, and the zygomaticus minor. 😉

September 26, 2023: Part 1 of 2 of episode 3's recap

In the Jeju leg of their show, Tae joined JK and JM, and JK seemed really energized in this episode! He was full of energy and happiness, which was heartwarming to see. It was nice to see him so engaged and not glued to his phone as we saw in the previous two episodes. In addition, he never mentioned missing the other members. It's touching how Tae seems to be JK's happiness preacher once again. At the start of the episode, Tae mentioned that the members have a group chat. He saw the Jeju schedule two days before the flight and immediately said he would join. Also, as a side note, the subtitles were wrong again. JK actually said that Tae joined without hesitation and did it right away.

As they drove to lunch, Tae's "Slow Dancing" piano version started playing in the car. Both JK and JM began to sing along to the song. It was evident that JK was particularly familiar with Tae's song as he effortlessly harmonized with the track and even flawlessly performed the instrumental part as they exited the car.

Jungkook and Tae entered the mackerel speciality restaurant and settled in to admire the view. They proceeded to place their order without Jimin, who was still seemingly recovering from the stomach bug he suffered during the American leg of the show. Jimin stayed behind in the car for a while and felt left out, saying, "I can't believe they just abandoned me."  Meanwhile, Taehyung and Jungkook were engaged in a domestic conversation, with Taehyung inquiring if Jungkook had brought his wallet, to which Jungkook playfully responded that he had the corporate card.

As the camera pans over to JM, viewers are treated to a picturesque view of the sea while he proudly reminisces about his hometown, Busan. The camera then circles back to Taekook, capturing them in a deep discussion about what to order for their lunch.

JM kindly offers to debone the grilled mackerel for Tae. However, Jk, being familiar with Tae's preferences, declines the offer on Tae's behalf. Jk confidently reassures JM that Tae is capable of deboning the fish himself but simply finds the task bothersome. Tae can't help but chuckle at the exchange but remains insistent on receiving assistance. Eventually, JM relents and helps Tae with the task.

It's worth noting that the subtitle provided by Hybe is once again incorrect. According to the credited account above, Jk used the word "bothersome" to describe Tae's disinterest in cutting the bone out, which differs from the word "lazy" used by the editors.

As they leave the restaurant, Jk follows Tae and JM on a motorcycle. When they came to a stop, Tae caught Jk's eye in the mirror before breaking into an exaggerated dance. Jk couldn't help but comment, encouraging Tae to dance even more enthusiastically while stealing glances at Jk through the mirror.

After vigorously headbanging to the music, Taekook decided to change into their swim trunks and take a swim. Unfortunately, feeling unwell, JM declined and decided to rest on the floor. Jokingly, Jk playfully sprayed JM with water and then caught an unsuspecting Tae as he emerged from changing. The playful water fight continued as Jk sprayed JM again, with Tae joining in. Their laughter filled the air as they ran off, reminding me of the frequent comments about them being partners in crime and getting scolded together. Tae then grabbed a water gun, and the two of them delightfully ran up to spray and tease JM even more, all the while sharing in the infectious joy and laughter of the moment.

I absolutely love witnessing this intimate moment between Taekook as they cuddle and share a phone. Jk takes the initiative to cuddle with Tae as he lies down. Tae responds by wrapping his arm around Jk. Jk adjusts to get comfortable while Tae helps by resting Jk’s head on his shoulder. After watching Tae on his phone briefly, Jk suddenly bursts into laughter, sits up, and rushes off upon hearing the sound of a water gun. Tae, oblivious to the sound, remains in place.

As JM followed the instructions, JK swiftly makes a dart for the water guns, skillfully grabbing hold of them. Then, with a mischievous grin, he passes one of the water guns to Tae. The three of them erupt into laughter as they gleefully spray JM with jets of water, setting off a lighthearted water fight.
