I’m gonna go with dead tired just cause that’s my favorite.

Tim was having a stressful day. He’d had a rough patrol the night before. He then woke up later than he should’ve, which was still really early for him because he had a virtual meeting with a team in a different time zone. The espresso machine at the only coffee shop that would give him 10 shots of espresso was broken. And to top it all off he had to deal with a new board member who was trying to convince him get rid of the company’s robust maternity/paternity leave program to increase “shareholder value”.

So to sum it up Tim’s day had been stressful but not unbearable. But that was all over now. He was finally done with work for the day and wasn’t scheduled to patrol for the night. He was gonna go home and have a nice, relaxing, entirely average evening where nothing big or important or unexpected was going to happen. The idea of spending the night relaxing with his boyfriend, Danny, was the main reason Tim didn’t try to kill the new board member.

When he finally got home and opened the door he was greeted by the most beautiful sight he’d ever seen, Danny. Danny was currently doing homework for one of his classes on the couch. Tim went to go take a quick shower and get changed into something more comfortable before making Danny take a break. He’d learned the hard way just how much Danny can get consumed by his astronomy homework. His passion for astronomy was something Tim loved about the guy, but sometimes he could lose track of time.

When he came back he was not expecting Danny to have finished whatever he was doing and moved to the kitchen table. He must’ve taken longer in the shower than he thought. But when he went over to his boyfriend to say hi he got concerned by the expression on his face. His usual relaxed and unserious expression that he even maintained while being kidnapped was gone and replaced by a very serious one. Tim was officially alarmed because in several years of dating he’d never seen him like that.

“Danny? What’s wrong? Is everything okay?” Tim couldn’t help but asking. Every worst case scenario in the world and how to deal with them was running through his head right now. It only got worse when Danny looked at him a bit concerned and had to take a deep breath. He was also fiddling with something that he couldn’t quite see as it was covered in a paper towel.

“Tim we need to talk.” Danny said “i have some big news, you should probably sit down for this.” And Tim did as he was told taking a seat next to Danny at the table.

When Tim sat down he put his hand on Danny’s arm and said “Whatever it is I can handle it.”

“I really hope you mean that,” Danny responded before taking another deep breath and continuing, “I know we’ve only been together for a couple years, but they’ve been the best years of my life. But I don’t know how you feel about this and I’m worried how you might take it.” Then he pushed whatever he was fidgeting with towards Tim. When he unwrapped the paper towel he was shocked. He didn’t know what he was expecting but it certainly wasn’t this. It was a pregnancy test, a positive pregnancy test. He picked it up and just stared at it for a few seconds, then back up to Danny wanting to confirm he was seeing this right.

“You’re pregnant?” He asked not bothering to hide the hope in his voice.

“Yeah,” Danny started, “And I get it if you’re not quite ready for this, I know I’m not, but I want to keep-”

Tim didn’t let him finish that thought before pulling him into a tight hug. “I love you, and I agree. I’m definitely not prepared to be a dad but I’m going to try to do my best to try anyway. This is great news and no matter what I’ll always be right beside you.”

Danny's life is pretty good right now. His parents have accepted him as Phantom. Vlad remains a Thorn in his side that won't go away. The Justice League had tried to put him on one of their young hero teams after his parents flagged them down about the GIW and the Anti Ecto Acts. He refused them because he's petty that they ignored the calls he and his friends made whenever they thought they needed help on something that looked out of their control. He's accepted to just being a person that they call on for help whenever they need it.

He's only in Gotham now, after he graduated high school and the whole business of the Justice League trying to get him to be part of their little group, because it has the only university that's crazy enough to enroll a Fenton.

He's found a balance between his university life, his Ghost King duties, and the Justice League needing his aid on a few occasions. He had to deal with a few unexpected instances where he was mistaken for a Wayne, but those were handled when he was, reluctantly, saved by the Batfam (he's still got the pettiness in him from being ignored for most of his high school years).

That might have been where his life started to change, as he soon found himself in a secret relationship with one of the Wayne boys, who even accepted him when he told them that he's Trans.

Near the end of his scholarship at Gotham University is when he learns of something that will definitely be a turning point in his life.

He's in the Far Frozen, having Frostbite check up on him because he's been feeling pretty weird the past couple of days. And it's here where he's told that he is pregnant.

"Don't be such a wet blanket," Steph says airily, fussing with the filters. "Even Damian lets me post stuff. He did a speedpaint last week."

"Damian isn't legally dead."

She shrugs. "B got that worked out."

"Hmph."

You lean your head on Jason's shoulder. He instantly relaxes, rubbing your opposite arm. Steph smiles at you in the camera. You smile back.

"And your girlfriend is on board," she adds, sitting back on the couch. "She thinks it'll be fun."

"I do think it'll be fun," you say, looking at Jason. His expression mellows as he looks at you, and he pecks your lips.

"Sure," he says to you. "Could be fun."

"Whipped," Steph mumbles. "Okay! Let's get started. So Jason, I'm gonna ask you which of us is more xyz, better at a skill, et cetera, and you have to answer honestly. Okay?"

"Yeah, I got it."

Steph nods and starts the video, all business.

You hide a smile, endeared by the fact that Jason's let himself get gently bullied into doing things like making Tiktoks for Steph's three hundred thousand followers. Steph had insisted he wouldn't have agreed without your urging, but you get the feeling that just like with almost everyone else in his family, Jason's not as hard-hearted as he appears.

You're not nervous about the video, exactly. You know Steph is just pretending. But you are a bit nervous that Jason might not flock immediately to your side. After all, he's known Steph longer than he's known you. And she's an official member of Bruce Wayne's merry band of Robins. You're just some woman who accidentally bumped your cart with Jason's at Shoprite and wound up dating him.

"Okay, um..." Steph's voice pulls you back to the prank. "Which of us has better style?"

Jason says your name. "But I think you dress nicely too, Steph."

Steph, to her credit, is a wonderful actor. She makes a face at Jason, then looks at the camera. "Really? She wears the same thing every day. I feel like I never see her without jeans."

You school your face, acting unaware. Jason, however, whips his head to look at Steph.

"What?" he asks, squinting at her. "What're you talking about? She doesn't wear the same thing every day. And you're one to talk, always wearing purple."

"I like her purple outfits," you offer.

"I do it on purpose. Because it's my thing," Steph says blithely. "Not because I have nothing else to wear. Okay, next question!"

You can see Jason's unhappy expression in the camera and are immediately pleased. Steph had bet you that he'd last three questions before stopping the video. You'd guessed four.

"Hmm." She rests a finger on her lips, thinking. "Oh, okay. Who's a better cook?"

Jason snorts. "Obviously her. I wouldn't let you near the stove for anything."

"Jason, be so for real!" Steph says. "It's not like she's any better. Remember when she made those peanut butter cookies for Dick's birthday?" She looks at the camera. "That's his name, guys." She turns back to Jason. "Those cookies were awful! It was like eating peanut butter gravel."

"They were a little dry," you say, nodding gravely.

"No, wh—Stephanie, what the hell is your problem?" Jason snaps, roughly turning on the couch and resting a hand on your waist, simultaneously comforting you and grounding himself. "Why are you being so goddamn mean? Those cookies were great. And I thought you two were friends. This ain't how a friend talks about a friend."

Steph shrugs, cool as a cucumber. "I'm just being honest. That's what this game is. You're supposed to be—"

"You're not being honest, you're being nasty."

"I'm being honest!"

Jason shakes his head in disgust. You allow yourself a small grin while he's looking away. Steph covers her mouth to hide a laugh. Jason leans over to turn off the video.

"No, I'm done. We both are. C'mon, baby, let's go."

He pats your hip and stands, waiting for you to get up. You shoot an urgent look at Steph. She nods and grabs her phone, jogging to stop in front of Jason.

"Wait, hang on! It was a prank. The video wasn't about comparing us, it was me pretending to be rude to her. It's a whole trend."

Jason folds his arms. "Yeah, if you think I'm buyin' that bullshit—"

"It's true," you say. "Honestly, Jay, Steph and I were pranking you. It's a trend, like she said."

"What kinda fucked up trends are they doing on there?" Jason asks, mildly horrified. "That's awful. Steph was so mean."

god yeah. i'm gonna put this under a cut because it turned into a long one. this is not just the ending but the stuff leading up to it. word vomit galore

just want to reiterate this is all in my insaneo mode head and simply fnv eli's timeline as far as i'm concerned

in a nutshell eli decides an independent vegas is ultimately the best for the residents. he has a hard time deciding between an ncr rule (a somewhat more organized freeside and new vegas, and potentially more resources aside from energy), but seeing firsthand the idiocy operating under the monolith, incompetence, and corruption, does he decide to help the followers of the apocalypse establish control over the area with the help of the king, since julie farkas and the king are both actual people of authority who the people of freeside respect.

when eli tells boone he's not going to help the ncr, boone's conflicted. he's been following eli around because (1) eli makes good on his promise re:fighting the legion, (2) eli is a legion magnet because caesar + lanius hate his guts and keep sending hit squads after his ass, and (3) he genuinely thinks eli will die without him. (none of this is related to the fact that boone enjoys his company, obviously. not even a little bit. obviously.) he's torn between the ncr, the only system he knows, and the person who stands as the trigger of the largest political change in the region. is he responsible for changing this person's mind? does he want to change eli's mind? he doesn't know shit about the ramifications of the ncr leaving, nor the ncr staying. is he just following orders again? despite what happens at bitter springs (hopeful ending) he can't really let the idea of the nation he grew up with go.

so at the end of second battle of hoover dam, the ncr gets chased out (mostly). eli still doesn't really know where boone stands regarding the ncr, because for all his talk and bluster he doesn't want boone to dislike him for prying (which has happened already before). forgive him, he's got a big fat crush that won't go away on the guy. he's tired. he's hungry. he's thirsty. but all he can do is think, "boone's going to follow them back." which is when the picture above happens. he snaps back to his senses obviously, because what right does he have to ask something like that?

but boone stays. eli goes to talk to julie and he's there. eli sits at the tops in benny's workshop for days, programming and reprogramming systems for the securitrons and tinkering with finer motor controls and he's there. eli negotiates with the crimson caravan and he's there. eli is confused but yknow. what is he going to do talk to the brick wall of a man about his feelings??

boone sees what eli does for the people of freeside. even helps, sometimes, even though the only thing he thinks he's good at is killing. he thinks, is this what being better is? is this what amends are? but like a reoccuring rash he gets the Itch. thinks about the ncr. about manny. they could enlist back into first recon, easy. he goes back to novac to look over things he'd left there, things he used when he'd freshly left first recon, spends the night in his old room.

only he can't sleep. he can't sleep because he can't hear the sound of eli playing some shitty video game on his pipboy. he can't hear eli and veronica arguing over which snack is the best for the road, or eli tuning ED-E to different frequencies to see what he can pick up. he can't see eli going to the bathroom what feels like every 5 minutes because of his wacked out digestive system. he can't hear eli cursing as he tries to take off his leg brace only for something to get stuck, and then him rustling around for his tools, not being able to find the right one, and then jamming whatever he can find in the joint to get it unstuck.

so he goes back to new vegas, and when he sees eli's smile when eli sees him, dirty and sweaty from working, he knows it's an easy choice to make.

(yes they eventually do h*ld h*nds. when is that? i don't know. when IS that. someone tell me please)

after that eli and boone stay in vegas for a bit to get everything as stable as possible, even though it's an uphill, impossible challenge, and then i think eventually eli's curiosity would get the better of them when he's a little older and he'd leave to find different things to prod and look at with boone at his side :^)

To be honest, the whole "lightsaber as a phallic symbol" has been around since forever. Never underestimate Freudian types who will draw dicks on anything. Heck, even Mel Brooks cracked jokes about that in Spaceballs and a snarky old hag in KOTOR 2 pointed out that male Jedi tend to place a higher importance on it.

Headland is a head case. I mean...some of those answers she game in the Vox interview were definitely a "Um...maybe you ought to be discussing this in a shrink's office," like the whole Sol murder thing. But like another controversial SW writer, she definitely leans into a lot of the less savory parts of the franchise.

The Jedi, at least in Legends, didn't do real well with accountability. Right out of the gate in TPM, Yoda and Mace are discussing how they're hiding from everyone how their powers are fading, which is why they're considering taking this nine year old kid to become their ultimate Sith killer (which, like a lot of living weapon ideas, blows up in their faces). I'm an Old Republic fan and so was Headland (she states that KOTOR 2 was an inspiration). And their accountability was somewhere in the Dantooine enclave subbasement that may or may not have been a full on black site for "correcting" prisoners or Jedi who just wanted to LEAVE. (Secrets of the Enclave, SWTOR) Be it arguably brainwashing Revan into a weapon, gaslighting Juhani, letting the Mandalorian War play out in the galaxy, letting a miniature version of it play out in their backyard, a Jedi splinter group murdering their own padawans and framing the survivor, or harshly punishing the one person who came back from the Mandalorian Wars to state their case, lying to them about their condition, and then trying a de facto witch burning on them (Jedi Exile, LS run). Headland is leaning into all those as well as Anakin going John Wick on the Tuskens that tortured his mom to death.

And really, the Senator didn't say anything I hadn't heard out of a bunch of characters in KOTOR/SWTOR, Old Republic comics, or a Karen Traviss novel, so it wasn't that groundbreaking to me.

Something that might have flown over the heads of those who weren't around during the 80s and 90s is that I instantly picked up on the whole Jedi versus the Witches conflict was that Headland was clearly referencing a moral panic that was a big thing in the 80s and 90s - a conspiracy theory of Satanic cults committing ritual abuse of children. Now, it was total and complete bullshit because no evidence was ever found, but it was a thing a lot of otherwise reasonable people 100% believed in, including law enforcement and government officials. And it was commonly non-Christians and LGBTQ+ families that were the target of the suspicion. With the Witches being rather spuriously accused of being "dark sided" and the way the Jedi were questioning the twin girls, it was like something you would see in a police procedural circa 1993 where the lesbian Wiccan couple gets accused of being Satanic child abusers.

Now, while Manny Jacinto was just a rock star when it came to Qimir's creepy charm, I'm with y'all on the alleged "romance." Seriously, Osha? He shanks your buddy, kills a few other Jedi, puts a saber to your twin's head, kidnaps you, could have done Force knows what when you're incapacitated, but one look at his magnificent bod and you're totally gonna forget all that? Honey, no shoto in his shorts could possibly be THAT magnificent.

Leslye Headland cares more about the Sith than the Jedi. I think her particular fascination is pretty undisputed at this point.

She explicitly says she wanted to write a Dark gothic romance featuring the Sith. And she got as much money as Dune 2 to do that. She got an enormous gift to tell the story she wanted. Okay. Fine. Not my cup of tea. But kudos to her for somehow collecting all those coins.

However, as a consequence of her lack of care for the Jedi, she ends up gleefully twisting them to fit her own power fantasy.

For example from the Collider interview we learned:

How the Jedi became stand-ins to attack the "institution" (of her choice, likely a religious one)

That the Jedi were used to critique patriarchy, with the Jedi master-to-padawan relationship somehow analogous to sexist father and oppressed daughter.

That Anakin murdering Tuskens and keeping it a secret inspired how Vernestra kept the Brendock scandal a secret (and that Vern is on a tragic arc too).

That she roots for Mae because the Jedi would never hold themselves accountable.

How the Jedi destroy children's worlds and how empowering it can be when, for example, they reclaim the saber that killed their parents.

How Sol and the Jedi caused Osha's loneliness.

That Sol talking about his love for Osha somehow robbed her of her agency? The agency Osha uses to join forces with the man who kidnapped her, killed her friends, and tried to kill her sister the previous day.

How she's using Senator Rayencourt as the voice of reason, and an audience stand-in, who asks "legitimate" questions about the Jedi having too much power.

That the Jedi have become cluelessly unaware of how they are perceived or that they could do wrong, because they've relied too long on their high status.

How the Jedi have always been "extremely flawed" (from the GQ interview)

A lot of this is not just divisive or cynical. It's creepy?

Headland wanted a dark Jane Austin romance featuring the villains in Star Wars - okay fine. I still think it could have been done without burning her Jedi Barbies to create new canon. I mean...its just brutal.

I've seen a couple of people say not to have known what this is referencing so I feel like it's my duty to educate... Magnet is a Vocaloid song that just hit its 15th anniversary! A lot of people especially in the west regard it as their gay awakening etc for being a love song sung by Miku and Luka, two female Vocaloids, but it gained traction everywhere and it became a trend/meme to redraw the original illustration (seen in the song link) with other characters. Most popular anime etc ships are almost guaranteed to have a Magnet parody illustration of them lol. The pose is the main thing but it's also very important to include the butterfly wing headphones

Hello! I just discovered your blog and I immediately became captivated by your webcomic, but I'm unsure where to read all of it. I know it's on Webtoons, but I can see it hasn't been updated for a while, and you still post about it.

Are your physical novels just prints of the webcomic? Are they a continuation? Is the story complete? Thanks in advance!

Glad you found me and are enjoying my comic!

It's only on webtoons, and the story is not complete yet! We're 2/3 of the way through right now. It's currently on hiatus, and it's scheduled to come back in about 2 months!

I'll explain why it's been so long if you're curious, but also for my followers who might also be wondering about it under the cut. Sorry, it's pretty much just me complaining haha

I took a month off I took 2 months to get the books printed I took a month to prepare my next comic and I took 2 months to write the rest of the series (I knew the character arcs I wanted, but not the time periods or mysteries!!!) I've been working on actual episodes since then

I had to take some time off because of some pretty extreme burnout due to the sheer amount of work it was to draw over 800 pages and write 6 complete stories in a year and a half... I was getting sick almost weekly due to the overwork, it was really really bad honestly. I was having to work 60+ hours every week just to keep up...

The nature of the comic itself is also difficult... Each of the arcs is a complete, self contained story which can be read (ideally) without context, and my arcs need to be about 10-13 episodes each... And since I have an exact number of episodes to work with, it's even harder.

It takes a ton of planning and a ton of refinement, and working week to week with no breaks I was forced to put out second or even first drafts, so I just wasn't happy with the work I was doing... And to do that for the rest of the series? I wouldn't be proud of the work I did.

Plus... To be entirely honest, webtoon has treated me quite badly IN MY OPINION... They deprioritized me before I launched (I had to beg for more promotion, I'm not exaggerating), they outright denied me the opportunity to even ask for a raise, I don't make any money on fast pass and they pay me less than my partner makes working at trader joes. My first editor left me completely hanging, my second editor (who I loved) was fired... And they told me I wouldn't get a third season before my first season even finished.
