for real tho guys can we stop using “he” as the default/generic pronoun for an unspecified Blorbo. can we stop doing that. we’ve moved on from he as default pronoun in every other context by now but we’ve apparently reinvented it in the specific context of fandom posts
#this was not actually prompted by the post I just reblogged#I know that ‘he would not fucking say that’ is just the structure of that meme#it annoys me at times but that’s how memes work and I don’t really care#no this was prompted by a completely different post I saw immediately after that using ‘he’ to refer to a generic character dynamic#and not just that one but allllll the other ones I’ve seen before it#I made a rule for myself like six months ago that I wouldn’t reblog those rotating my blorbo etc posts#if they used exclusively male gendered language#do you know how few of them I have been able to reblog since then??#like 80% of those generic relatable posts talking about how no one is normal about their blorbo or whatever#are about men. and only men.#can we stop#hot takes with stars

Sorry, not sorry but I see this too often and it bothers me :)
Before people get mad: Notice how I put “Me and Penelope fans” there? I know there's others. this ain't about you <3
edit: This is about how people in the fandom prioritize Odysseus and Telemachus (and even Diomedes, who is not in the Odyssey) despite the Odyssey also being HER story as well. I've seen many fics about Odysseus and Telemachus in their youth, and never really seen that for Penelope.
#penelope of ithaca#penelope#penelope odyssey#odyssey#the odyssey#odypen#epic penelope#epic the musical#Mad rambles#shot by odysseus#sighs#tagamemnon#greek mythology#Mad memes#I've noticed this mostly with Epic but even Tagamemnon fans are like this too. ;~;#will probably reblog this later with more to say on it but yeh :/ it's like genuinely sad for me.#like people will go on about how in history “Men only saw women as wives and babymakers” and then...Write women as only wives#and babymakers :') clearly she doesn't have anything outside of that going on for her does she?#People throw out canon for fanon all the time for other characters/plots but you can't do that for Penelope? Why? Why is that?#like for being “Odysseus lovers” He would HATE y'all for not giving a shit about her#You think the “Wifeman” will tolarate people not caring about his wife?

Extremely bad batgirls comic I made featuring Steph's sex life and Cass' ability to read everything but the room
#dc comics#dc#stephanie brown#cassandra cain#batgirls#feels really wrong not tagging their ship here. they could be in an open relationship if you want#and Cass is either aspec or not down for sex for another reason and they've talked about it and whatnot#or it's just cass wingmaning steph#also those little scribbles in the bg are. vaguely circuit breaker and red canary BUT ONLY BC I BLANKED ON CHARACTERS-#-IN STEPH AND CASS' AGE GROUP WHO AREN'T GAY MEN OR TIM OR KON OR BART#i could've just had steph fuck a woman but i liked to imagine this could happen in canon. if DC were based (worse. much worse)#anyway normally i hate uploading bad drawings in poor quality but that just felt like the correct medium for this idea#I'm working on two dc for gaza Commissions rn and im a bit blocked w the lineart rn but we're truckin!

I can’t explain what blue eye samurai makes me feel…….its a typical revenge story, a man sets out on his hero’s journey to kill the four men who have wronged him. A lone ronin, wide brimmed hat and sword in hand, roaming Edo Japan on his vendetta. But he’s not a man. He’s a woman. And how has he been wronged? What’s she getting revenge on?
On the fact that she exists. She wants revenge on the four white men that could possibly have conceived her. Who got her Japanese mother pregnant with a blue-eyed child. And not just any blue-eyed child, but a girl child. How is she possibly supposed to live in the world like that? For the wrong of being conceived, for the wrong of being born, for the wrong of being birthed into a world that will never love or accept her, she will kill her father.
I don’t know what level of convoluted self hate that is. Is she a child of rape? Or a child of a whore? Halfway through I realise what she told herself at the start couldn’t possibly be true - it’s not really for her mother. Her mother wasn’t the root of her vendetta, she wasn’t really doing it for her. When she leaves that farm and leaves the chance to live a simple, legitimate life as a woman, she goes right back to hunting down the men. Those men personally wronged her.
And then there’s so much to be discussed surrounding the way she grew up, because as a boy child and a man she can afford so much more than life has dealt her. Her swordfather who took her in out of the love and care in his heart had no shame in teaching a mixed man his art. The face of a ‘demon’ is fine. But not the identity of a woman. Shh. Don’t say it. Don’t confess. He knows and doesn’t want to hear it.
And because she’s lived that way her entire life for safety and security, she’s so completely alienated from being a woman, perhaps she really is he. But not really by choice. Or is it? The thing she does best is the art of killing, the art of men. Gender is a prison and gender is a performance and she has to choose which to perform. The times cannot reconcile hatred and violence with a woman. So she lives as a man.
So she can get revenge on her father, for revenge on herself.
#blue eye samurai#everything about mizu is so deeply upsetting#like ok revenge!!#revenge of what - exactly?!#white men?#and/ or your white self?#born against your will?#and who and what shapes this will of yours except the society you were born in?#this is so deeply fucked in every way#but anyways#I love Mizu and I hope he kills his father dead. if only - if only that would satisfy her.#my posts

What About The Kens?
I'm already seeing guys complain about the Barbie movie end, how they wanted Kens to be equal in Barbieland but were only given a small part on the Cabinet.
That's the point.
You're meant to feel bad for the Kens. Believe me, women aren't partying over the 'Returns to Matriarch' ending. Some will be, but the ones who also clocked the meaning behind it won't. Most women will also feel bad for Kens. Because it's an exact parallel to how women are treated in reality.
Men, you're meant to be upset. You're meant to question it. Because you're meant to feel it, and feel what that is like, so you can finally understand women. You're upset at seeing it in a movie, now imagine living it in reality. That's being a woman.
Kens were shit on so you could feel what it was like for women this entire time. Kens were being used as a placement so you could see yourself in a woman's shoes. A world dominated by the opposite sex. When Ken leaves, and sees male presidents (All men) for the first time, men being doctors and lawyers, etc, realising he is more than just a prop for Barbie, that was on purpose. Because that is the feeling that Barbie gave to women. It's why you cheer for him at first before he goes a little overboard.
It's exactly why the real world was an exaggerated Partriarchy and Barbieland an exaggerated Matriarchy. Neither wins. Neither is equal. None of them change for the better. It's why you should want women in the real world to be respected, and Kens in Barbieland to be respected.
The thing is, women also didn't win. Not in the real world. In Barbieland, yes, but not anywhere else. The real world didn't change. But you didn't notice, did you? That Gloria (The mother that helped Barbie) also didn't get a position on the Mattel board? It was still all men? Her idea was ignored until it made a profit, and the men will likely get the credit? She'll still just be the receptionist? The women representing the real world didn't get anymore opportunities, neither did the men in Barbieland.
I was hoping that Gloria would be offered a position on the board, and that the Barbie Cabinet would introduce another entire Cabinet to represent the Kens, but neither happened. They're complete mirrors.
But which one did you actually notice? Which did you actually care about? Now tell me again the ending was unfair. Because it was. For both parties. That's the point.
The difference is, Barbieland is fictional. You will walk out of the theatre with the reassurance that at least it's not real. Women won't. Women can't. Companies not giving women equal opportunities or voices isn't fictional, and that was just one example. There are no women presidents (USA at least) for us to go look at in the real world. We don't have somewhere to go to realise it could be different for us like Ken did. Barbie and make believe is all we had when we were kids, or even now.
You're supposed to be mad, just not at the movie.
#It's going right over people's heads#I've seen men complaining about the inequality. That's the point. Now you know how it feels. Apply that same frustration#And turn it into empathy for women in reality. Because it's not nice is it?#Please for the love of God people need lessons in analysis and critical thinking#It's not a 'women just hate men and this is a women only movie'#It's please realise that you've seen what it's like to be in women's shoes. Now be the change for women that you wanted for Kens.#Barbie#Barbie Spoilers

so fucking irritated with the narrative of “two men can be close platonic friends without romantic feelings” in regards to buddie because 1) you can be friends and in love 2) men are friends on this show? chim and buck, chim and bobby, bobby and michael 3) point me to this so called plethora of male slowburn friends-to-lovers canon ships that exist in media so i can watch that instead
#buddie#eddie diaz#evan buckley#911 abc#911#oliver stark#ryan guzman#i saw 2 posts in a row about how people only ship buddie because they wanna see hot men kiss#i need y’all to be so fucking for real with me right now

i never liked the idea that good trans rep has to be so subtle its easy to miss. nothing wrong with a character saying "im trans" or dealing with their experiences as a trans person.
just let them have a personality too, don't tokenize them. And make them a weird freak. we need more trans characters that are weird freaks.
#txt#idk it just makes me think abt how straight men will consume yuri but ONLY if its subtle enough where it can still#be denied that its romance. and then turn on it when characters explicitly talk about their relationships#like when they turned on a show after 3 seasons because a lesbian flat out said 'im not attracted to men. i only want women'#trans rep shouldnt be 'subtle enough that its easy to miss and i also dont have to evaluate my own prejudices'

saw a tweet the other day that was like "outlawing diy hrt would kill trans people" which, yes, i agree. however it is already illegal for trans men. which is something i feel like people just ignore in discussions about diyhrt. i've also seen tweets along the lines of "it's easy to access and dose and it's not explicitly illegal so if you're concerned about us anti trans laws you're being stupid". which, the first part is completely untrue when it comes to testosterone, and the second part shows a mindblowingly uncompassionate view on anti trans legislation and is a genuinely bafflingly horrible thing to say to people who are scared for their lives and their futures
#text#the second tweet the person followed it up with 'stop telling me about trans men i dont care i only care about trans women and cis chasers'#which erm. what the fuck is wrong with you 👍#discourse#transandrophobia

so the occurrence that almost every woman was sexually harrassed by a man at some point in her life is just a cluster of a few individual experiences that you cannot formulate any general conclusions based on BUT a few reddit porn addicted losers not having a girlfriend assigned to them as soon as they're born or being rejected by three girls in middle school is a world scale epidemic that gets its own name, psychologists and media and useless video essayists devoted to finding out what its causes are and to figuring out how to solve it, and every woman is now responsible for solving it. i love living in this world i am totally not chewing on my arm right now!
#you can generalize or not. it only depends on whether men profit from it#last or like second to last post about male loneliness i promise <3#moids are getting so boring about it anyway it's just that this cowboy guy from last night pissed me off#he kind of cleared andrew tate thought so i've decided i'm not making him my no. 1 enemy#radblr#radical feminists do interact

Stop saying "TERF" when you mean "transmisogynist." Stop saying "MRA" when you mean anti-feminist. And stop levying either accusation at trans guys whose views are literally just that we can experience misogyny and that anti-masc sentiments are harmful. Yes TERFs are transmisogynists and MRAs antifeminists, but those aren't synonyms--those ideologies actually mean something beyond that and if you are calling people who use transandrophobia either then you clearly don't understand either of them.
#some people literally think the only important thing to know about te/rfs is that they hate trans women#and the only important thing to know about mras is that they care about sexism against men (which to them is inherently antifeminist)#so clearly saying anything that contradicts any trans woman ever + thinking people shouldn't be sexist towards trans men = TERFMRA#transandrophobia#te/rfism#m/r/as#mine
