An alt version of a twst boy in Yuu's world is just so yummy. There's so much angst potential depending on what the relationship is/was. Did their boy die in some horrible accident? Is he waiting for them, anxious and terrified about where Yuu went? Does this imply that twst also has a version of Yuu somewhere out there in the world? Questions questions. I did sort of write about this idea in the tags of this yan version of the soulbound au, wherein a cursed Yuu driven insane by their curse kills their soulmate before being isekaid to Twisted Wonderland and finding a different version of him, horrified with the realization that they could kill him again... but I want to cook up some dynamics for what the dorm leaders/overblot boys could be up to in Yuu's world first sooo...

I had a hard time thinking about Riddle until I remembered he's a horse girl and cast Yuu in the role of bad boy ranch hand whose dad's got a job at the barn so they're forced to help take care of the horses and warn all the would be YA protags about the "special horse" who doesn't take orders from just anyone. Not that Riddle is the protagonist... he's more the well established rich petty bitch who looks down on the new girls and especially on you because you're never taking care of his horse in accordance with all his stupid rules. And in stereotypical horse movie fashion Riddle has a massive not so secret crush on bad boy ranch hand Yuu who just doesn't get why he keeps trying to talk to them.

There isn't much royalty left in the world, but imagine Leona as the son of some rich business magnate whose older brother got the company and left him with "nothing." Maybe Yuu works at a liquor store part time and Leona comes in to pick stuff up every once in a while. You wouldn't call him a friend, but you guys shoot the shit enough that you have a general feel for each other to the point he joins you on your breaks to keep up the talk and play chess.

I love the idea of student president council Azul. He's made for that trope. Born for it, he'd be such a terror with Jade as his VP and Floyd as well. Floyd. I can't see him really being a part of the student council but I had this idea the other day based off this instagram post I saw about this mom who sews right? Her daughter was running for class president and she made these bracelets with little shrimp on them and attached them to cards that said "Keep it shrimple! Vote for (kid's name)!" And I was struck with this vision of Yuu doing that so like. Yuu running against Azul with that campaign slogan and he's tearing his hair out over it being so popular because people like memes (the original idea had Floyd running as Yuu's vp but they both dropped out at the last minute because neither him or Yuu wanted to do the actual work lol.) I also like student council president Azul and delinquent Yuu... but that's because of Tsuredure Children ha

Kalim and Jamil are hard... but I think the same set up of rich businessman's kid and his bodyguard in training still fits. How Yuu meets them is beyond me, but if you were friends with either of them could you imagine how painful seeing the same tragedy play out in this new world would be? Jamil doomed to always be a servant and Kalim doomed to be betrayed by his best friend... that would be so painful for someone who cared deeply about either of them I could see it motivating Yuu to try and resolve things for twst Jamil and Kalim that much harder.

Ok so hear me out... Vil still wants to be an actor in your world but he doesn't have the connections to his dad and is working as a pharm tech with Yuu at your local drugstore while going to school and hunting for gigs. He mentions being interested in cosmetics and magical pharmacology in game... and he also mentions knowing nothing about his mom so like. Your world Vil ended up with his mom instead of his dad and you get to see him on the cusp of his big break as one of his number one supporters from the very start, only to get isekaid to a world where you get to see what things could have looked like. It's strange how similar and yet not both versions of Vil are...

Idia is the guy who comes in to buy snacks at your convenience store during the night shift who you start talking to when you notice him buying a game time card for something you also play. You're stupid awkward around each other at first, but it's nice to finally have someone to talk about your niche interest with once you've passed each other's sniff tests. You don't actually know him know him though... so getting sent to another world where there's another version of him makes you worried the more you learn about his backstory that maybe you should have been there for your Idia more. Is he doing ok back home? Did he think of you as a friend? You hope he isn't blaming himself for any of this...

Malleus is an old money trust fund baby whose family was absolutely royalty at some point and is still overly attached to it. He likes old buildings, cemeteries, long walks in the fog, you know all those good goth things. He's tall and socially awkward and so grateful for you, his first and best friend who he met one moonlight night he swore was a dream in his favorite abandoned building who spoke at length with him about all sorts of things he liked. So you know. More or less the same. Just without the world ending powers... I think this is another one that would be quite sad. Which version of Malleus needs Yuu more? Which one is the real one? I'd hate the idea of him being destined to always be lonely and lose the ones he loves.

As for Yuu avoiding them... I could see that. It would feel weird seeing someone you love so much only for it not to be them at all. I know that the Lovebrush Chronicles kiiiiind of deals with this??? I wish I had the patience to play through it has an appealing glasses wearing ro but it's a mobile otome :/ but still. It's a concept I promise I am totally normal about.

I’m disappointed with current Venom Run. Let me be real CLEAR here. I don’t hate it. I don’t have beef with its creator. So for a long period of time I was telling everyone “it’s a mess, but it’s better that Donnie Cates”.

But I think comparing them is not correct and let me explain why.

So Donnie Cates. Our boy. Extra edgy, made some terrifically BAD retcons, hated symbrock, tried to make Eddie Brock as trad as possible (giving him human son and all). Plus he ignored the fact that Sleeper was a child of Venom and Eddie. “nOt BioLoGiCalLy” Eddie’s but he called Eddie “father” and they both deeply cared about each other. So Donnie Cates couldn’t allow this either.

But! Donnie Cates while fighting the yaoi made the story ironically even more gayer. It was a train wreck but at the end of the day at least it was fun to laugh at this “closeted shipper” as I like to call him.

And most importantly? At the end they were still “Venom family”. All 4 of them. In Donnie Cates comics.

Now Al Ewing and Ram V… It was… ok. I like Dylan, I like Venom, I like Sleeper. I didn’t like that they “killed” Eddie right at the start of the story and sent him running solo trough time traveling shenanigans. I liked him interacting with Doctor Doom. I liked Meridus being gay with Kang and with that one old man.

But what I lacked is interactions between Venom and Eddie. They almost didn’t interact.

But like, okay. Let Eddie do his thing, let Venom singlemom it out. Also did I mention Ewing and V made Dylan Venom’s son? That was NICE. That’s I liked. A LOT.

And immideatly got my hops up.

Which was a mistake.

So the problem is where Donnie was closeted shipper, I’m starting to believe that Ewing and V don’t actually see Venom and Eddie as a romantic partnership. Or even all that important partnership.

If you check Spider Man Venom War comics, Venom talks A LOT about how much “Saint Peter”(Parker) means to him. It’s very gay very romantic very deep. But at the next pages it also downgraded Eddie role in Venoms life?? Venom is like “so yeah Peter taught me to save lives so I saved Eddie from offfing himself”. And that’s almost it. No emphasis on their bond, on Eddie’s feelings, of their bond. Almost nothing, really.

And now it’s Venom War and Venom says “wow Peter and I are sooo perfect, also it feels nice punching Eddie in the face”.

So what. Venom hates Eddie now? After all those years of forgiveness?? And it wasn’t elaborated in the slightest??

I would hate it but I WOULD understand if they wanted to make Parker new host for Venom for a while. But they don’t?? Apparently Al Ewing planing to give Venom new host (all of the candidates SUCK for the role btw). And if I understood one of his interviews correctly he want to send all the characters their separate ways.

You guys have been friends for so long now though, it’s hard for you to take anything he says seriously. He gets it, since he does the same thing to suguru but still. It’s annoying.

Other thing is, you ignore his attempts at flirting while suguru screams of laughter in the corner. He gets so mad at him every single time it happens, but you can’t help but laugh at sugurus laughing fits whenever this happens.

“The devil.” he says, and satoru immediately knows that it’s you based off of his answer. He groans again, putting his face in his hands. “You gotta be kidding me.” he says, his speech mumbled. Suguru isn’t paying attention.

If suguru liked you back, he’s giving satoru no signs. At least not vocally, but satoru peaks through his fingers and sees the red tint on his cheeks and… has suguru ever smiled at him like that? His best friend? No. He’s not familiar with that giddy grin.

Suguru probably doesn’t want to tell him, cause he knows of satorus feelings. Sugurus a nice guy like that, but it makes sense why his friend hasn’t been of much help to him.

1. He’s absolutely shit at his job. He’s the sole CEO of DH and yet does nothing for the label. Not that he’d have time to since he’s always on tour with the boys. Like if he’s not there to actually run the label no wonder it’s clumsy.

2. He doesn’t really care about any of the artists that aren’t the 1975. He doesn’t promote others as much or put as much effort. Except I guess recently Bleachers. Cuz Bleachers signed with DH a few months ago. And I mean nobody wants to cross Jack Antonoff.

3. He’s so obsessed with kissing Matty’s ass it’s pathetic soemtimes. Which is insane since he doesn’t channel that energy into doing his job to keep matty / the band happy and successful. Even at the beginning of their career, if it wasn’t for Matty’s stubbornness and annoying personality, they wouldn’t have booked as many gigs. The boys do more work for themselves than Jamie.

4. He absolutely doesn’t know how to handle bumps in the road. He did fuck all when Matty’s reputation was in the toilet this summer. Rina (a dirty hit artist) literally went onstage and called Matty out MORE THAN ONCE. What do you think that looks like if people from his own label are doing that? Not to mention her stuff about how he owns her masters or whatever. Seemed like she was trying to send a message and that says to me that Jamie isn’t taking care of his artists the way that he should.

5. His unprofessional behavior towards fans. He went against Matty and the boys wishes when he opted into platinum pricing for tour and when we complained about it he replied to dms saying that “everyone needs to chill.” Like don’t tell me how to feel about spending my hard earned money on the band even AFTER Matty had said he doesn’t approve of jacking up prices etc.

6. He spends more time posting memes about “controversial” matty stuff than he does working. And when the whole Taylor stuff happened, he was posting himself listening to Taylor Swift at the height of the whole are they together / did they break up drama.

Both of their focus on how the way they behave is normal despite how emotionally uninvested in the action they are or if it directly contradicts their genuine feelings- Is just so interesting, and I think it should be highlighted more.

for fic wip meme: 'wayne is not okay actually' because i'm apparently in a torment that little stoner kind of mood as of late.

this is only a few days old (and a prime example of how making a you-have-to-finish-something-first rule never works.) It comes from a combination of two things: 1) @cicada-circuitry's Molly/Margo fic (or rather the tags on and comment conversation about that fic) about how it's quite possible and reasonable that some(/all) of Molly's extracurricular relationships might in fact be a point of tension between her and Wayne, and

2) ongoing conversations with @havingbeenbreathedout about how one of the strengths of FAM's characterizations is that we get to see (most of) its major characters engaging in self-deception about what the world is like or their role in it

they cross-pollinated in my head in a way that has me wondering about the kinds of stories Wayne tells himself about himself, about Molly, and about their marriage in order to manage any bad feelings he might have about her relationships with others. And also about how willing he is to own up to having those bad feelings at all! Because Wayne is amazing and all, but none of us are exempt from self-deception.

Anyway, here is everything I have that isn't notes a bit of dialogue. It's Wayne PoV, set around 1986, and the premise is that a) Margo and Molly have a long-term casual arrangement, b) Margo is becoming deeply invested in Sergei, c) Molly has just picked up on that and is feeling jealous and d) she and Wayne are discussing that. Below the cut:

Wayne follows her into the darkened kitchen, where she’s staring into the fridge. “Okay,” he says slowly. “Does it sound like it’s going in that direction?”

“Fuck if I know,” Molly says. “Probably not. You know what Margo’s like.”

Wayne doesn’t really know what Margo’s like. Wayne’s met her a handful of times but she’s always distant, always crisp. And there’s no way she’s like that with Molly, at least not all the time. Most of what Wayne knows about Margo are facts he could learn from a newspaper or the things he invented back before he took responsibility for his own fears and stopped letting himself brood about her. So no, he really doesn’t know, and it annoys him that Molly doesn’t seem to understand that. But that’s not a helpful response, so Wayne nods to himself in the dark, dialing down his heartbeat, softening his tone before it comes out of his mouth.

“So then what are you upset about?” he asks. 

“Leave it the fuck alone, Wayne.” Molly doesn’t turn around. “You don’t understand.”

“That’s right, Molly, I don’t understand.” His voice is getting higher, which means he’s probably upset and should probably stop talking, but he doesn’t do that. “Because last I checked your thing with Margo was, was casual and not –” 

“Not what?” Molly asks. She closes the fridge and turns around. “Not what, Wayne? You can’t fuck someone for seven years and not…”

Not what? he wants to ask. But that would be childish, so he waits.

“And not care about what they feel.” Molly has folded her arms and looked away. As if he could even see her face in their dark kitchen anyway. She can’t ever look at him when she says something important.

“Well that’s funny, Molly, because you’ve been fucking me a lot longer than that and in case you hadn’t noticed, I’m having some feelings about this too. Do you care about that?”

i was tagged in a very similar post by @bookish-bogwitch a few weeks ago. at the time i read her post, i felt like our opinions were so aligned that there wasn't a good reason for me to write my own post. (well done, great opinions!) the only exception really is that if a snowbaz fic was tagged age gap i might choose to read it - less because the trope is for me, and more because that's kind of weird for snowbaz. so, maybe it would be interesting! and i guess i feel pretty meh about H/C, sorry folks.

harsh judgement right out of the gate. i've read some good ones but i feel like generally a fic about an amusement park is likely to be some quite gentle fluff, maybe a modern AU, and that's not my favourite.

maybe all slash fics that are kidfics are unconventional families? if so - i actually quite like kidfic, a not that secret shame, but i sort of like it less if the fact that they're gay parents is now worth flagging because it makes life difficult - since i am a gay parent. and i dont want to read about how it will be hard. so it averages out to a 0. if the family is more unconventional.... who knows? i would neither click nor not click.

Rough Sex: 8

how sad for me that this is my first clear yes and highest rated. i probably would click unless other tags or the summary put me off.

Public Transportation: 3

i went with a yes here, as i'm intrigued. it's oddly specific and suggests an interest in the specifics, and i am a fan of public transport. i've read some nice fics where snowbaz meet on trains (yes, often modern AU, but i dont dislike them all), like the classic 15-across by @ninemagicks and the equally classic remix 2-Down (A 15-Across remix) by @carryonvisinata (who also wrote a theme park story i like, so the -2 is definitely feeling mean. ah well, press on.) i mean - i prefer banter, but i assume if someone has written bickering they kind of mean banter. unless it's like sibling bickering and then maybe not.

this is almost text fic (which i like less than most people like it) but not. i often write in a phonecall, it's part of what i think of as the friendship to lovers arc...... idk. i'm also going to add here that i keep thinking about plots that rely on people not being able to call each other, which is kind of the opposite. or you have to get to a pay phone - i dont know that i would want to read a fic like that, but there are some fun movies and books that you'd have to rework now. most recently i was watching madonna in 'desperately seeking susan'.

this really depends on who they are, obviously. i can imagine it being really annoying if they never show any redeemability, but i've given it a strong 7 because i come from a world of redeeming the master from doctor who over and over again, so it would feel silly not to have it as a yes. and i kind of want to redeem the mage....... but it would be weird if he just was redeemed in a fic, and so too the master. it would have to be kind of about it.

yes. not a 10/10 insta-click , because i can imagine it going on a bit too long if it was a fic about a quest rather than, say, two people realising they loved each other, but i would like it to be in the background. snowbaz has some good quest fics. Song of Sirens (rated E) by @scone-lover is such a fic or A Gift From the Propheseals (rated M) by @skeedelvee and @letraspal another.

Cats: 3

this feels mean, i have 3 cats myself - i like cats to be in a fic because cats are nice, but i also dont have many feelings about animal transformation and if snowbaz adopt a cat in the future... that's fine by me, i hope they do, but i probably don't want to read about it for more than a few lines.

probably not if it's a serious examination of this, but plenty of my villainous favs could be described as sociopaths, so... i give it a 2!
