Milgram could never have had a good ending.

Voting innocent doesn't help ease the guilt that the prisoners feel. Yuno and Kazui haven't stopped seeing themselves as murderers despite them both getting innocent verdicts each trial and their "crimes" being considered some of the tamest by the fandom. Innocent verdicts can fuck up a prisoner just as much as guilty verdicts. Kotoko decided that her innocent verdict allowed her to hurt others, while Haruka and Muu began to think their verdict made their murders completely justified.

Voting guilty doesn't make the prisoners realize their mistakes, it makes them miserable and scared, and often just causes them to resent Es. The best example of that was amane in trial 1, who started clinging to her religion even more than before her verdict. I think this is happening with Muu too. She doesn't want to become a better person after what happens to her, she calls Es a bully just like her classmates and only sinks deeper into despair.

Because systems like milgram, those that torture people and expect them to become better, are inherently corrupt. Taking part in them doesn't make anything better. The only way we could've gotten a good ending would have been if no one voted, which is impossible considering milgram's popularity.

I like this approach a lot, since it really gives the slow burn I think is necessary for both of them.

I also like the idea that Trial 3 is a major turning point for both. Yuno is being honest with people and not just aloof in trial 3, and it hurts the person she does caretaker role for and who is STRUGGLING, but also wakes Kotoko the fuck up to her own actions and guilty and sort of serves as the straw that breaks the camel’s back and whatnot.

Bonus Points: because she saw this wounded side of Kotoko, Yuno can’t stop thinking of her behavior as either puppy or wolf like and calls it out every time she sees it, which makes her feel either confident as usual or embarrassed in the sappy girlfriend way.

One trope I really wanna see with 0210 is the two of them slowly teaching each other how to love themselves. Not doing it consciously, but doing it nonetheless.

Like, come on. You have a character that literally said that she doesn't care about herself that much, and a character that sees herself as a tool/fang, rather than an actual person.

I need to see them subconsciously teaching each other that they are more than just that. They don't even need to properly confront the fact that they do have issues, they just need to gradually come to the realisation that they are more than just what they see themselves as, and then they realise that it's their partner that taught them those skills and they're like [insert shocked pikachu face here]

Aaah. Anyways. Just a little ramble I thought of.
