I'm watching a video on ancient Fanfiction.net drama and the creator is going over all the dumb rules FF.net has that I forgot about (no 2nd person perspective writing, no interactive stories, no explicit 18+ stories, no incorporating song lyrics into your fic, etc, not to mention the systemic problems like the lack of an archival system).

We are so fucking lucky to have AO3 nowadays, you guys.

#I have a spot in my heart for ff.net because of all the memories it gave me #and all the fics I read on there that I'm still making an effort to track down and archive #but it is so vastly inferior to AO3 it's not even funny #AO3 is also fantastic because it's a nonprofit organization that protects fandom culture from our fuckass copyright/legal system #anyway I just wanted to shout out AO3 for being one of the best contributions to fandom culture #ao3 #archive of our own #fanfiction.net #ff.net #fandom
